THE UNTOLD TALE
Book One of the Accidental Turn Series
This novel follows Pip, who is pulled against her will into the epic fantasy novel series she's loved since she was a teenager. However, the world is darker, and far more dangerous than she could have ever predicted, especially when it turns out the hero is a much bigger jerk than she expected him to be.
Pip knows how to circumnavigate the Hero's Journey and the pitfalls and loopholes of this particular world - but what will happen to her beloved characters outside of the comfort of the fantasy they were written for? And what happens when it's not the hero, but the hero's overlooked and bullied little brother who proves to be her biggest champion?
✨📜✨
Forsyth Turn is not a hero. Lordling of Turn Hall, yes. Spymaster for the king, certainly. But hero? That's his older brother's job, and Kintyre Turn is nothing if not legendary. However, when a raid on the kingdom's worst criminal results in the rescue of a baffling woman, oddly named and even more oddly mannered, Forsyth finds his quaint, sedentary life turned on its head.
Dragged reluctantly into a quest he never expected, and fighting villains that even his brother has never managed to best, Forsyth is forced to confront his own self-shame and the demons that come with always being second-best. And, more than that, when he finally realizes where his companion came from and why she's here, he'll be forced to question not only his place in the world, but the very meaning of his own existence.
✨📜✨
Smartly crafted, THE UNTOLD TALE gives agency to the overlooked, and asks what it really means to be a fan when the worlds you love don't resemble the world you live in, celebrates the power of the written word, and shows us what happens when someone stands up and refuses to remain a secondary character in their own life.
New Chapters drop every Tuesday.

I wanted to make a post introducing the characters of my fantasy trilogy: The Fergen. Coming soon!
ALL WORK IS COPYRIGHTED! DO NOT REPOST! (Reblogging is okay)
Vera: main character
Vera is a half fergen half human. She is very naive and joyful, but has little to no experience with the world. She lives in a abusive and neglectful household before she ran away with Rebekah. She then slowly starts to learn the real dangers of the world. Not only does she learn that people can be nice to her, but she also learns that there's people with even more ill intent than what she experienced that home. She is a peacemaker and always tries to see the best in people.
(Art made by my friend)
Tumblr media
Rebekah: side-main character
(My gosh she's my favorite. Technically my character) Rebekah is a person who is a half human and a half Phoenix. Her parents died when she was very young and she had to learn to live on the streets. She was abused repeatedly by many people that she came in contact with until she met Verity. Verity was an overwatcher Who is the main villain of the story. She was mistreated by him and did his dirty work until she figured out what he was actually doing. When she finally left him, she tried to go into dark jobs such as assassination and arson, she was feared amongst many and always shoved her trauma away in the back of her mind, forgetting it. She is very stoic and logical but can get worked up easily. She is powerful but oftentimes try to protect herself even if it means to harm others. She's not sure how she feels about Vera when they first meet, but Rebekah offers to help her before they are both killed. They go on an adventure together and Rebekah soon learns that there are good people in the world.
(This art is from some sort of league of legends thing, so I do not claim this art. But it captures her idea pretty well.)
Tumblr media
Garrison: side-main character
Literally everyone's favorite character I don't even understand why. Garrison is a strong and determined man, who grew up in a healthy household until his parents were killed by the authorities. He then ran away and trained under a man named Jake, who took care of him but was not nice to him. He held on to his morals that his parents taught him as he entered the dark jobs, hating every kill that he did. He then made it his life mission to save the realms from the OverWatcher, which he said out to find all of the Crest pieces in order to do so. He tag along with a dwabit Sabastion and search for the pieces until he ran into Vera and Rebekah. They tagged along with him as they went to complete the mission. Garrison is a half human half dragon, he has a bad temper and is very angry, and he also has a lot of trauma. However, he has good morals and he soon learns that sometimes people just need a little bit of love.
(Art made as a commission)
Tumblr media
Sabastion: side-main character
Sabastion is a half hobbit half dwarf, or a dwabit. He is the comedic relief character, and is very very stupid. He grew up to be the smartest dwarf in his time and invented many things, but wizards sought after his intelligence and took it from him, his family abandoning him after he was stupid soon after. He wandered around until he ran into Garrison, Who would protect him if he would cook for him. Sebastian stuck by Garrison side ever since, making more of a challenge for Garrison instead of helping, but Garrison enjoyed the company and like Sebastian so he kept him around. Sabastion learns that he can relearn the things that he wants knew and that you don't have to be perfect to be loved. He is very dumb and whiny and always hungry. However, he has some strange nuggets of wisdom and is very loyal.
(Art made by my friend)
Tumblr media
Lorry: side- character
I'm only including him here because he is very favorited amongst the fergen fandom. Lorry a prince and the middle child. He protects his kingdom and wants to bring his kingdom back together from the separation of the males and females. He's quirky and fun, but sometimes his intentions are unclear. He can be cocky at times and it drives Garrison insane. But he also knows how to talk people out the things, which comes in handy.
Tumblr media
Verity: Villain
Verity is an OverWatcher who seeks to destroy The realms. He's one of the few all-powerful creatures and is a master at manipulation. Over the course of a thousand years he has either executed or manipulated halflings, aka the species of our main characters, and how they are half a species and a half another. He wants the realms to destroy themselves, whether that is with or without the Crest. He seeks revenge after someone he lost, but evil runs deep in his heart as it does for all OverWatchers.

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (Inheritance trilogy) by N.K. Jemisin
The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms is the debut novel in the Inheritance trilogy, a fantasy series written by N.K. Jemisin, and published in 2010. The novel starts off strong as we dive headfirst into the complicated life of Yeine Darr, a half-Arameri, half-Darre woman who seems to be recalling the timeline of her life. In the beginning, Yeine is summoned to the Arameri palace in the city of Sky by her estranged grandfather, who names her the heir to the Arameri throne. However, the position of heir was already being fought over by a pair of siblings, Yeine’s aunt and uncle who were niece and nephew to her grandfather. Yeine is suddenly thrust into this succession war for the Arameri throne, and we follow her on her journey as she adapts and acclimates to palace life, the Arameri, and their harsh ways. She encounters many humans and gods who all seem to want different things surrounding the succession and will do anything to get them - including using her. The pace of the book is set right from the start, as we try to decipher what the other characters want and whether it is in line with what Yeine wants for her own life - which she must figure out soon. Something is always happening to further the story, even during the lulls in action, and the constant twists and turns quickly pull you to the end of the book. To avoid any spoilers and maintain the suspense, I’ve tried to avoid giving too many details!
The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms has many well-developed, complex characters that we grow to love and hate and who inspire a broad spectrum of emotions within the reader. Throughout the novel, Jemisin explores many important societal themes including culture, oppression, morality, and sexuality. Many of her characters do not conform to the traditional conventions of gender and sexuality, as for example, the gods that are worshipped in the novel are polyamorous and genderfluid. Jemisin does a wonderful job methodically constructing a vast fantasy universe with great attention to detail, and she includes many developed cultural histories and character backstories, which helps to really immerse the readers in the world she has built. Black female authors are often underrepresented in the fantasy and science fiction genres, and N.K. Jemisin’s works really speak for themselves and are definitely worth the consideration of anyone looking for a new fantasy novel series to throw themselves into. Notably, The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms has won the Locus Award for Best First Novel and several awards for gender expression, including the Sense of Gender award and the Tiptree award.
Personally, I believe that The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms can be read as its own complete stand-alone novel, as the following two novels are no longer written from the perspective of Yeine and instead flesh out the stories of both new characters and old ones from the first book. It is definitely a novel/series that is high up on my list of favorites, and the first book was my favorite. I will likely briefly review the following two novels in the series as well sometime in the future :)

Guysss I’m reading a book based on THE PRINCESS BRIDE right now and it’s so so so good!!
It’s quickly becoming a favorite! I love it!
Tumblr media
The cover is ok, but what’s inside the pages is what’s really magical. Like a million other people, I love the story of The Princess Bride, and as soon as I heard that there was a YA book based on it, where the princess has to save her stableboy, I knew I had to read it. And so far it’s fantastic! And I highly recommend it. I’ve been reading as much of it as I can, as fast as I can. And I’m in love with this story!
Amarande is a great feminist heroine, even with the title of princess attached to it. And her stableboy, Luca, is so adorable, and has quickly become a new Book Boyfriend for me.
Guys, I recommend this book. Read it! Whether you’re a fan of books, fantasy, The Princess Bride, or feminist heroines, I say go for it!
I’m so so glad I picked this up, and think it might get me out of my months-long reading slump too.
And the best part?? It’s a trilogy, with two more sequels!! I’m so excited to read more. I already bought the second one and the third one is released at the end of August. I am going to fly through these books for sure!
Happy reading everyone! :DDDDD

Book Review - For Thy Great Pain Have Mercy on My Little Pain by Victoria MacKenzie
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4 out of 5. I always wish that I’d been better at history when I was at school. I really enjoyed it but always struggled to do well in exams and stuff. I guess there were just too many dates and facts to memorise. Thankfully, studying English gave me the chance to embrace history but from a literary perspective. Even with my love of the past, I don’t read nearly enough historical…

Volume 1
**Episode 4: The Ordeal**
The grand council chamber of the Animus, bathed in the twilight's iridescent glow, seemed more daunting than ever. Pillars of white marble rose to touch the high arched ceiling, and around the grand circular table, both Nexus and Animus council members were gathered. Their combined gaze fell heavily upon Lyre as he stood before them, the hushed whispers of their discourse creating an uncomfortable melody.
"Lyre," began Seraphim, the council's eldest and most respected member, "Your endeavors with the Primaeva artifact have stirred a dissonance within our Great Chord. We request an end to this venture."
Lyre swallowed the lump in his throat, his fingers clenching at his side as he met Seraphim's gaze. His heart echoed with the rhythm of his purpose, and his words carried the strength of his convictions.
"I understand the council's concern," Lyre said, his voice echoing in the grand chamber. "But it is in our nature as Animus and Nexus to seek knowledge and to understand our universe. The Primaeva have left us this artifact as a guide to the Harmony, and I believe we owe it to ourselves and to them to explore its mysteries."
An uneasy silence followed, the council members exchanging wary glances. The walls of the grand chamber seemed to absorb Lyre's words, resonating with the weight of his belief. But the shadows of discordance and uncertainty still lingered, growing in the corners of their minds.
Despite the opposition, Lyre's journey into the depths of the Primaeva artifact revealed a greater potential - a way to enhance the Harmony. A revelation of such magnitude could not be taken lightly. Fearful of potential misuse, Lyre decided to withhold this knowledge, even from Echo and Cadence.
As the fallout from the ordeal ensued, Lyre found himself cast into unfamiliar shadows. His standing within society, once respected and admired, now bore the taint of controversy. The echoes of his old life rang hollow, replaced by the tumultuous whispers of opposition and the soft sighs of disappointment from those who had once trusted him.
Yet, amidst the discord, Lyre discovered a profound change within himself. He was no longer just an Animus scholar but a seeker, a pioneer who had dared to touch the unknown and seek out the unexplored melody within the Harmony. His spirit bore the scars of conflict, but it also held the strength of his convictions, resilience forged in the crucible of societal opposition.
As the sun set on the Animus city, its ethereal glow cast long, contemplative shadows, much like the ones that now resided in Lyre's heart. The harmonious notes of the Great Chord held an undercurrent of dissonance, a testament to the challenges that lay ahead. The episode closed with Lyre standing alone in the twilight, his eyes reflecting the resolve to continue his journey, carrying the heavy burden of his actions and the profound changes they had invoked.

I originally published "The Untold Tale", book one of the Accidental Turn series waaaay back in 2015 with an indie publisher. I'm re-releasing the whole series late 2023/early 2024 under my own imprint, with all new covers and some updated interiors. To celebrate, I've decided to give all of you a treat and release the WHOLE first book of the series in it's entirety.
Chapters will drop every Tuesday, and it will be totally free to read. You just have to have a Wattpad account (which is also free, though it does have premium versions and in-app purchases for some pay-walled stories).
And if you like the book, you can find out about the rest of the series on my website. AND, if you want to be in the loop when the paperback and eBook editions are re-released, make sure to sign up for my newsletter (head to my website, and scroll to the bottom of the page.)

Well I can finally sit down and write out my review of Lynn Kurland’s final installment of the first trilogy in her Nine Kingdoms series, Princess of the Sword. (So much for batch-writing and consistency. Maybe in an upcoming post I’ll share the utter insanity that has been my life the past eight weeks, but anyway…onwards!) This series has been a delight, and this finale was no exception. I…
