you gotta give it to aa4 it was REALLY funny of them to make apollo such a lawful good fuckin square and then put him in a position where he’s constantly surrounded by people who want to break the law to help him out + people who broke the law but he still has to defend them + people who want to manipulate him into breaking the law. and then in his first real case he has to dig around in the trash for women’s underwear and break and enter for evidence. and then he finds out that his special move is using poker tactics in court and it makes him look like the shiftiest attorney to ever exist

Actually going insane over the implications of Jason asking Dick to be the Robin to his Batman in Battle for the Cowl.

Like I initially took it at the purely surface-level of Jason wanting a partner in the general sense. Which made sense, it's a huge responsibility and a lonely one so an assistant/sidekick/partner seems a no-brainer if you can get one.

But then I really thought about it, because Jason is not asking Dick to be his partner in the general sense; he's not even asking Dick to be his Nightwing. He's asking Dick to be his Robin.

And they both know exactly what Jason means: "Be the light to my darkness. Be the smile to my scowl. Be the hope to my fear. "

He's saying "Be 'Robin'; be the embodiment of Love and Justice and Goodness. Be the exceptional person that you have always been. Be the slightly-less exceptional person that I was when I wore your colors. Be the person that I was in the process of becoming and might have been (or might still be), if only Joker hadn't clipped my wings."

He's saying "I am prepared to become vengeance, become the Night. And I will go further than Bruce ever dared to, because it is what is needed. I will be the necessary evil. But you don't have to be. If Batman is Gotham's curse, Robin has always been its blessing. I will be the brutal punishment to our world, and I am asking you to be its incandescent gift."

by the way the title spirit of justice has always bothered me. not only are you repeating the word justice fucking again in your titles but Spirit of the Law was already a phrase

There are NO main characters who are twinks in Ace Attorney they are all too wide. Even Apollo. Look at official art of him. His frame may be smaller than a lot of the other men in Ace Attorney, but his shoulders are broad enough and his torso is wide enough that he shouldn't qualify. Also his face is round and charming. If you must claim an Ace Attorney twink, make it Max Galactica or something. He at least fits the criteria.

Hi it's me from the Apollo & Daphne comment about Will and Nico in the Asklepios au, I'm not exactly sure what brought me to the comparison but I guess it's the way you sorta described their relationship in one of your other posts(?)

Assuming this is a finite to be written work, the story starts after will and nico have gotten acquainted. nico does his thing, begins as a weird unfriendly guy but after being acquainted becomes a good friend. they bond over losing their siblings and feeling responsible for their deaths, less of a "you did nothing wrong" and more of a "yeah that sucks balls" kind of empathy. then will learns that nico is a child of hades(the guy) and (after an orphic hymn infertility joke) has to fight the urge to use nico to bring people from hades(the place)/keep them from ever going there

in typical nico fashion he disappears like fully. will is reasonably concerned and tries to look for him whenever he isn't practicing and teaching medicine in case of impending war with a neighboring state? this part is funny and i want to say war is the conflict because battle is the usual conflict in the myth and history i've read and also in riordan's series itself. turns out the guy is dead. yippee! (probably some scene where will sees nico but its actually just the ghost or nico visits in a dream or will actually just finds the body preserved in snow. the last one's a little too intense)

That part just reminded me of D&A, Sorry If I'm not making much sense I just got out of school and I'm about to take a nap

Despite her not yet knowing who pursues her, Apollo seems to know exactly who she is, calling, "Wait nymph, daughter of Peneus, I beg you! I who am chasing you am not your enemy." He comments that she is running from him as prey would from a predator, but tells her that he is spurred on by love and a desire to be with her, not destroy her, so she should have pity on him. He then says that he is worried that she will be injured in the chase and cause him guilt, so if she slows down he will too, but she continues. I just see it ???

ohhh im picking up what youre putting down now yeah. the vibe of chase and intentions vs perceptions. the plot is slightly different now so i didnt see the comparison lol

#now nico is going to hazel's execution to act as defense and bc he's ousted his relations with the romans from before wartime #and before anyone else knew he tells will and chb that they can have his head after he tries saving his sister #since he's already lost that chance once #and he never returns and the camp assumes he's defected or otherwise fled #making him a wanted criminal #but no the execution was actually his own it was all a ploy #he manages to escape but succumbs to his injuries and dies #and will finds the body by chance months later #and then he gets brought back to life #so good thing is no one thinks he's died so no one would guess he was unpiously brought back to life #bad thing is people want him dead anyway #no escape or retribution once he is denied death sorta deal #i think a big distinctor is the amnt of info between them #in a&d daphne is completely unaware of who is chasing her and she has no means to verify his claims at goodwill #whereas apollo is fully aware of who she is and what he wants to do with her #my attempt is getting a relationship in which both parties exchange information on the same level

Apollo Justice has extremely likeable characters, but plot wise is not nearly as good as people remember.

AJ is the DGS1 of the original series, it’s meant to lead into other things and set up plot points for later. But doing that leaves you with a kind of shallow experience when it’s on it’s lonesome.

And because AA team A basically abandoned any chance of a sequel for Ghost Trick, then professor layton, there is no follow up like DGS got with DGS2.

There’s many examples but “Trucy hides her real personality behind multiple masks” is the example we tend to point to because... why does that matter? That doesn’t really change anything narratively. It’s so unimportant to the story that team B FORGOT it’s her character.

So we have a bunch of interesting likeable characters interacting in a story where a lot of those traits don’t really matter and have no real impact to the plot.

It’s a game about moving on, that never fully embraces what it has now, for a hypothetical future entry that never was going to come anyway.

After reading the sun and the star summary I’m even more confused why Will and Apollo don’t interact in this book - you are telling me Will struggles with accepting darkness (Nicos and his own) and therefore his identity. And he doesn’t get to talk to his dad about it, someone who not only GAVE him opposing powers but also just had the biggest identity crisis?(and also kinda ignores? Suppresses? Downplays? His darkness?)
