Jarra, in the main Earth Girl trilogy: I hate my parents for abandoning me at birth, I don't need them in my life, there's no way the Tell clan wants me to join them, they'll take any chance they can get to be rid of me
Jaxon in the Drago series: I will stand in this transit hub for days on end, sleeping only when my body physically forces me to, just on the off chance that Jarra comes through on a school trip and I can find her and bring her home, because everyone in our clan is being eaten alive by guilt at the thought of one of our own growing up alone and unloved. i've never seen her before, but i know that i'll recognize her when i see her.
Gemelle in the Drago series: I will try over and over and over and over again, year after year after year, to hack into the Hospital Earth master genealogy computer to try and find Jarra's new identity and where she lives so we can bring her back home to us
Drago in the Drago series: we have to fix the earth solar arrays because if Earth goes power dark during a solar storm, jarra's going to suffer. what if she's in europe and she has to deal with blizzards and snow without any heating? what if she's in australia and she has to deal with the blistering heat without any air conditioning? i need to learn about more kinds of earth foods and earth culture so that i can know how jarra's living for when i meet her one day. i need to watch all these vids so i can know how she's being treated by hospital earth. hospital earth is my mortal enemy for how they've torn my family apart, one day i'll make them pay. jarra's on the same planet as me right now. jarra might be watching the same news channel as me right now. i can't believe some bigoted norm is sabotaging the earth solar arrays to make the citizens of earth suffer, my baby cousin doesn't deserve this

All the jokes about Ken and horses are good but I just wanna say it's such a good parallel to how actual young men get swept into misogyny and the patriarchy.
Like they're told to believe it means men get to be cool and manly and have this power but with that comes extremely rigid commands of what they can be as a man and a cycle of self hatred for never matching those gender roles perfectly. Patriarchy tells men that if they just do exactly what is expected of them, then they get all the "cool stuff" that comes with. That doesn't work though when there's only a small group that actually gets that power, but men will keep trying to fit into those roles in hopes that they can.
In the end there are no horses or the myth men are told, it's just endless cycles of self hatred and ingroup fighting.

one of my favorite (/sarcastic but not really cuz its like funny idk) things in fandoms is when people make ocs or self inserts or 'x readers' being shipped with characters, but the oc/sona/reader is literally just another character from the source material.. its like youre shipping the characters but didnt want to admit it, so you made a kinsona and branded it as something else..
and its NEVER subtle, actually its super blatant every time and im always shocked when nobody points it out..
i have seen uncountable saiki k x readers where the description is like:
"saiki meets someone whose thoughts he cant read for the first time, and even though he doesnt trust her at first, she keeps proving that she is kind and has good intentions!" you mean nendo? reader is girl nendo?
"this time, he meets a girl whose thoughts honestly match up with her spoken words almost perfectly for the first time!" hairo. youre shipping saiki with girl hairo.
"saiki meets someone whose thoughts are too fast and jumbled to re-" ITS AKECHI, THATS AKECHI, ITS LITERALLY AKECHI.
"saiki meets someone whose just as immune to teruhashi as he is for the first and only tim-" this is hairo again, awe bae you secretly LOVE haisai ?!?
"saiki sees his old childhood friend for the first time in years after an incident caused them to be apart and then they fall in lov-" WHY DID YOU EVEN WRITE THIS AND NOT CALL IT SAIKECHI.
its even funnier when they say its like that characters little sister, but the way they write it is still literally just the character, like their personality, dialogue, even their relationship, is the same..
not all of them fit this exactly, but the ones that take a boy character and turn them into a girl oc to ship them with a boy, it reminds of how in equestria girls they couldnt make applejack and rarity endgame so they gave them boyfriends who looked IDENTICAL to each other.. thats what youre creating, guys, youre creating heterosexual rarijack.

looking at timelines and thinking about the CONSTANT near misses where Durge and Karlach almost met while involved with/working for Gortash. the overlap is there!! but Karlach doesn't recognize Durge when they meet in game, so they must not have ever met
Karlach was Gortash's bodyguard, it would have made sense for him to bring her to meetings with a Bhaalspawn--when would he be in more danger than that? That he didn't means that either he trusted Durge not to kill him, or worried instead that Durge would kill Karlach if they met. Which, yeah, if her temperament pre-Avernus is anything like in-game then that meeting would have extraordinarily poorly! Faced with a very real threat she would have stood her ground to protect her boss and friend, still, and there is no way Durge could let that slide--there is no way she could have won that fight. Gortash liked her too much, or did not want to replace her yet, or had already put the wheels in motion on the infernal engines front and knew she would make an excellent candidate for a test, when the time came. Cuz he sold her anyway, didn't he?
so I'm emo about that but ALSO the slapstick hijink potential of Gortash running interference so that neither of them ever encounter one another is UNPARALLELED.

the way that louis. keeps saying I loved claudia she was my light I loved her unconditionally I loved her I loved her I loved her. and he never ever ever puts the word love and lestat even in the same paragraph. because. by both repetition and omission. he's telling himself a story. i loved her i loved her she was my light and my reason. he tells himself that story. as though telling that story is going to undo his guilt over the fact that. when it came down to it. lestat or claudia. it was never her

Y'all since we already know that Gwen can and probably does look at Peter B being happy now and think how her Peter never got a chance for a better life cuz he died so young because she accidentally killed him now imagine she goes to Earth-42 and finds Miles-42 fatherless and she knows that she almost let that happen to this Miles. I get that we assume Miles will understand that she had her own problems and was forced to be in Spider Society and he would eventually forgive her but I'm saying that I don't think she will forgive herself, ever.
