i know not many people would want to read a 10,000 word article about the minecraft end poem and how the author, Julian Gough, was never fairly compensated for his work and has made it public domain.

But it's a very well-written and heartfelt read, and he makes it very clear that none of this is a cash-grab and despite the fact that he is essentially a starving artist in this capitalist society, he only mentions his financial struggles despite Minecraft's huge huge success at the bottom of this article and not in the tweets so as to not dilute his message.

Anyway, I just think it'd be cool if those who are able to could support him in some way whether it be subscribing to his substack or donating to his paypal (that's linked in the article, you can ctrl + F to find it easier), that's all.

Minecraft's worlds are cyclical.

The End, called such, is the last place you go to. It's got floating islands over nothingness. It's still forming.

The Nether is full of lava, ruin, decay. The monsters don't hide at night, because they don't even have a concept of night. Killing the Wither, made fully of parts you can only find in the Nether, grants you an achievement called "The Beginning."

The Overworld is full of life that's constantly changing. The terrain is forming bigger and bigger, new entities and old come into/back into existence.

Neither the End nor the Nether are habitable for human life. You can make do, somewhat—chorus fruit and hoglin porkchops can technically sustain you. But there's no sun, no flowers, no trees.

The Nether came first. It's dying.

The Overworld is the current, alive world.

The End is still just coming into being.

When the Overworld is no longer habitable, the End will have evolved new landscapes, new horizons. And while the End's life flourishes and the Overworld's life dies off, the Nether will have a chance to heal, start over. Like a phoenix, or a forest after a wildfire.

Idk guys I just really like the idea of worlds that live, die, then live again.

huge fan of how they did this 1.20 update so far. the changes really do feel like “they are doing things to make minecraft more minecraft”, just adding several small things that makes everything feel nicer is exactly what i want from an update. just… small details! huge fan of that! also a big fan of them going “we are only going to show you features that are done”. it does mean we don’t actually get to know what they’re planning until it’s about to be in a snapshot, which will be an adjustment, but it’ll prevent all the nonsense that happened around 1.19, so I’m a fan. overall, like how 1.20 is looking!
