Never ask Danny Phantom for Relationship Advice
Many would think that asking Danny Phantom for relationship advice would be a good idea. He and his wife are the only heroes who are actually married and they both can't help but gush about one another. But the Red Huntress has forbade him from giving relationship advice to other heroes especially the kids.

Alright but funniest Damian and Billy dynamic I can imagine is Batman and Robin being in Fawcett for a team-up with Cap. Business has concluded and the duo's gonna go home.
When, shortly after they part with Cap and Bats is trying to remember where they parked the Batmobile, Damian sees a lightning strike.
Naturally he puts two and two together despite nobody else (Bruce included) batting an eye that Captain Marvel must be over there. Might even be fighting!
Runs off to go check it out and rounds a corner to see a kid waving away a dust cloud. Said kid freezes when he spots Damian with that specific "caught red-handed" brand of panic.
And Damian draws the only logical conclusion.
This kid's a meta.
Billy Batson is his name and he says his powers came so suddenly one day. That he's really glad Captain Marvel also has lightning powers and that no one finds sudden lightning strikes in Fawcett strange anymore.
And Damian looks at this kid that's small enough to be younger than him (Billy's 12, actually-) with dark hair and blue eyes and very obvious potential.
Forget Drake as his Robin, there's a candidate standing right here!
Billy is internally swearing so hard and Marvel has the audacity to laugh.
They are no one’s sidekick.

Billy angst potential + Assassins
Y'all ever think about how one of Billy's magical villains could disguise themselves as his late mother, father, or missing twin sister to try and get close to the Rock of Eternity or get close enough to assassinate the Champion of Magic? Billy would be so happy if he had any family alive and well, he probably wouldn't think too much about it and just be a kid for once. And how it could all crash down into a horrible breakdown when the truth gets revealed and the world sees the true power and wrath of the Champion of Magic
OR
Hear me out
Someone, a villain of his, maybe Dr. Sivana or a new one, could order a hit on Billy Batson, leading to Billy having to constantly be on the run and afraid of every corner he turns when he isn't Captain Marvel (Shazam). Maybe it's the League of Assassins (idk) who seem to agree that all this magical power should not be in the hands of a small child, and maybe Damian has to help save his new friend, who he doesn't know is Captain Marvel

Getting asked by other comic enjoyers in the wild what my fave comic run is is difficult cause I’m pretty sure answering Impulse 95 is the biggest conversation stopper ever but it’s the truth and idk how to explain to people that yes it’s actually really good I promise.

616 Peter and Prime Earth Babs are literally the same because you have to go outside of main continuity for any good writing for either of those characters.
Also they're being vastly outshined by their successors in comics currently.

I've been reading some of those Dick-adopts-Tim AUs and now I can't stop thinking about if he adopted Tim AND Billy who are like the same age and probably look like twins. People definitely think they're twins. It's chaos.
I can't stop thinking about the League not knowing that Captain Marvel is secretly a kid and either meeting tiny unassuming Tim and Captain Marvel being like "yeah that's my brother" OR him accidentally calling Nightwing "Dad" in front of them and the ensuing freakout

I did something that could either be a really great idea or the biggest mistake of the month (I opened the comics for Spider-man/Deadpool)
(If I stick to it you can applaud me)

Batman and Spiderman are some of the biggest characters for their respective companies. But funnily enough, I've found I sometimes struggle with their comics. At least I did last time I was going through a comics hyperfixation. The last time I was going through one, I found Batman way too dark (and I still do feel that way, both in regards to comics and to all other media). There's a reason Adam West is one of my favorite Batman actors. It's because he had fun with the part, and it wasn't bogged down with dark, detective stuff. Because I find the darker stuff can bore me. It's probably why I like the Villians so much more.
Now as for Spiderman, I have less issues but I still have some. While I tend to like most Spiderman adaptations that I've seen, I've found there were aspects of his comics that always put me off. Years ago now, I read like the first 100 Spiderman comics. And I hated how George Stacy was killed off. Yeah, I was oddly more upset by his death than by the idea of his daughter dying (his death made me stop reading, I think). And more recently (like a year or two again), I tried reading them again. But this time I think I was hung up on how Spiderman was really jerkish in those old stories. He hated working with other people, he didn't want to help people unless it benefited him during his origin story, he seemed to be antagonistic towards his bullies and he was very standoffish. And you know, aspects of this should be relatable to me (I have temper problems and I am very shy). But I guess I just didn't like how it was written or something. Idk. Maybe I'd like it if I revisited it. But I can't really guarantee I would.

on one hand I wanna write my fic ideas wherein my marvel oc gets sent to the alternate universe of Gotham and hijinks ensue whilst she tries to survive and get back and the batfam and such slowly learn more info abt her world and how it's being threatened atm and she needs to go back and help and whatnot.
But on the other hand, the readers wouldn't know the marvel related backstory of this OC and would have. No context for her going in
But ALSO then the readers would know abt as much abt this mysterious figure as the batcrew do, and get to learn via flash backs and her slowly revealing info to them as safety allows
Then there's also just a general. Idk if there's any sort of oc etiquette when it comes to writing oc centered fics? My brain goes so hogwild when I read anything that I usually avoid oc fics other people write just bc I usually read and enjoy fics at face value but I also go "now what would happen if this OC was here?" And that gets real complicated when other people's ocs are involved
#jasper rambles#this is a rambly one yall#fanfic discussion#fanfic etiquette?#i just. listen. i made a vampire oc for captain america specifically of the mcu.. and i was thinking and like. gotham is the Perfect City fo#r a vampire to live right. so like. then i was like what would she do if she ended up in gotham. how would that go. and then i could reveal#her marvel backstory thru tidbits she drops and flashbacks. bc i have her mcu timeline pretty well planned out#tho also her existence (along w a few pther ocs) drastically changes the course of the mcu so some things hapen VERY differently (mainly civ#il war and then the start of the following arcs) so like id aalso have to reveal where the canon divergence from the mcu is during the flash#backs. and then ALSO i have a p decent grasp of the batfam and whatnot but i havent had the oppurtunity to read many comics so i dont even.#what if i just FAIL at their characterization and im actually wronf magically#and then ALSO comes the question of should i include my batman dc oc? bc SHES a whole. package. theres a LOT to unpack w her. tho for this s#pecific fic idea i think itd be fun to just. have her be Another Batfam Member. like yeah shes got her own stuff going on. but this fic woul#dnt dive into it anymore than it dives into the other batfam members#the other issue is deciding where in the mcu timeline this oc gets thrown into an au and why and how or if that affects the mcu timeline fro#m there. cuz thatd need to be decided for the sake of flashbacks. and if im gonna ise flashbacks id love to try and plan it out so it aligns#with the plot happening in gotham. i dont necessarily want like. a running Plot in the flashbacks. but id want them to be scenes from her li#fe in mcu that reveaal stuff that helps understand the decisions she makes in the gotham plot#but ALSO in the gotham plot. id wanna have it either be that her presence has caused some sort of ripple that the gotham baddies are using t#o hirt people or else some other unrelated gotham baddies plot is happening and this oc being herself sees trouble and runs towards it to tr#y and help people. even tho she has her own stuff to deal w. and then makes herself a target of the gangs and also potentially screws someth#ings up bc she doesnt have as intimate of knowledge abt the baddies and gangs as the batfam do since most of em grew up in the streets of g#otham one way or another#so like. and like she can hold her own. she was a young woman in brooklyn in the 30/40s. but its still a different environment in gotham rat#her than in brooklyn new york. so itd be. yeah. tbh i feel like the fact that im putting this much thought into it means i will probably try#to write and post it on ao3. idk when tho. im trying not to post more fics on ao3 so i can focus on my xmen fic#sso. anyway if you read all this feel free to share your thoughts and or like. sorry not sorry for the rambly essay of tags <3#i told you jasper rambles

I really like the way Fawcett comics blur the reality of fictional characters and the reality of comic book readers.
I think the most obvious example is in how characters acknowledge moving across books not just within advertisements for those comics but within the main stories themselves.
For example, here’s Freddy Freeman saying that Captain Marvel sent him from Whiz Comics in Master Comics #22:
Tumblr media
And here’s Mary Marvel receiving a telegram inviting her to Wow Comics in Captain Marvel Adventures #19:
Tumblr media
But another in how Captain Marvel’s secret identity as Billy Batson is handled. The main recurring characters like Sterling Morris are genuinely unaware that Billy Batson transforms into Captain Marvel and it’s typically portrayed that Billy can just transform right in front of people without them understanding what had happened. But there are some people in the world who apparently know that Billy Batson transforms into Captain Marvel because they read Whiz Comics and Captain Marvel Adventures themselves.
This is directly tied to the origin of the Lieutenant Marvels, three boys coincidentally named Billy Batson who can transform when saying Shazam all together, in Whiz Comics #21:
Tumblr media
They all initially come together and visit Billy not because they’re fans of his radio show, but because they’re readers of Whiz Comics and are wondering what would happen if they were to say Shazam. Hill Billy even talks about how most kids who read Whiz Comics think it’s all made up, but that they know it’s real.
Another example is how the conflict of Sivana making Billy forget who he is and how to transform into Captain Marvel is resolved in Captain Marvel Adventures #5:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Billy wanders the city until he stumbles across a group of kids playing Captain Marvel, and they tell him that he can play Billy Batson and should say Shazam.
I imagine that this effect would have increased believability for very young readers in how it casually acknowledged what was common knowledge to them and their friends, rather than strictly avoiding the information that a fictional character would typically be presumed not to know.

no. nobody should have a superhero fan blog (ick) especially not a spider-man blog (ew!!!!!!)

Does a fic like this exist or do I have to write it?
I would love a fic where Danny is in a another hero’s city or general turf (not like a huge hero like Batman or Ironman but someone more down to earth like the original blue beetle or the punisher) and ends up being accidentally enemies because of all the crimes he’s been framed for but the hero just barely keeps missing Danny and Danny starts to hear about how this hero recently got a sidekick with oddly ghost like powers so he can’t even just avoid them anymore and has to make sure the hero is safe.
The side kick turns out to be Dani and they meet by accident and it just devolves into a screaming match by the time the adult hero arrives and they have to seriously reassess the threat level they originally thought phantom had considering from what they can gather from the argument phantom was framed so the worst he’s done so far as they can tell is being a bit of dick to a middle schooler. (It doesn’t matter if Danny was actually a dick to Dani it’s just kinda how it looks to the hero since Dani is their sidekick so they would obviously be biased towards her)
Also it doesn’t matter if Danny is adopted by another hero in the fic as long as it’s not the same hero as Dani so that they can have distinct types of training but also I think if it was an adjacent hero to Dani’s it would be best (for Dani and blue beetle we get Danny and booster gold or Dani and the punisher gets us Danny and daredevil) so that they can have the energy of having a close friend and sworn enemy that you see at baby showers and weddings that a lot of cousins get
