Any thoughts on Doctor Sivana?
Tumblr media
Nothing too extensive but Sivana rules in a way that doesn't really invite too much introspection. He's THE archetypal mad scientist comic book supervillain and he's more or less stayed as that, arguably the most influential of them after Luthor if not outright on par with him, because while Luthor is the comic book supervillain template, the pop culture image of a mad scientist (big head short body, ugly, big glasses, always with a labcoat, hunchback and big teeth optional) is pretty much taken from Sivana. But Luthor's status atop the ladder and position opposite Superman mutated him into varying kinds of villain and a complicated character over time, where as Sivana is Sivana and never really needed to be anything else, there's just a purity to him. They've tried to make him a Luthor clone and the movie ran with that, but who cares, we all know what Sivana is, you're not fooling anyone with that guy.
Tumblr media
He's got a pretty great thing going as not just an evil scientist, but the evil scientist head of an evil scientist family, with children split in either looking exactly like him or looking like chiseled models who look brutally dissonant next to their dad, and he genuinely loves his kids (at least usually or in his own way), in fact he's even show loving the ones that don't support him and turned good. If he's going to be the arch-nemesis of the superhero who introduced the concept of a superhero family, he can't exactly be lacking in one of his own, and that familial aspect he has towards his children has become just as important to his characterization as the fact that he spends most of his waking hours trying to destroy a child and failing.
They get some mileage out of how ruthless he can be despite his image (and people's tendency to overlook how dark Captain Marvel stories could get), he has enough basic standards to not go as low as other DCU supervillains and Thunderworld establishes a Hannibal Lecter-esque Sivana to hammer in contrast with the main one finding him unnerving, but I'll never forget this panel:
Tumblr media
Like I said, there's a lot of dark stuff in Captain Marvel/Shazam that gets forgotten, but I also like this about Sivana, that's the flip-side of that purity I mentioned. That he can and does have almost a Doofenshmirtz-thing going on, where he's playing such an over-the-top cartoon villain 24/7 that every mundane or decent thing he does becomes inherently funny via contrast, as is his loving relationship with his own family, but he is a guy who's very serious about taking over the world and very serious about destroying Captain Marvel even if that means killing the boy Billy Batson to do it and doesn't think for one second about that contradiction. Contradictions are for chumps. He may love HIS kids, other kids are just a thing in the way. Sivana doesn't need to explain himself, like some OTHER inferior bald guy who sold out to become a CEO or something, Sivana lets his deeds do the talking.
Besides, evil is his family activity, who's to deny the joys of it to him?

If Fawcett has all these heroes, how big is Fawcett?
Hi anon! This is a great question for people who may not know.
When I talk about Fawcett heroes, I'm talking about heroes created by/featured in Fawcett comics, not necessarily those that protected Fawcett City. Back in the day, Fawcett comics was independent and while many of their characters lived in the same general world, it was completely separate from the DC universe. So characters like the Marvels, Bulletman, Ibis the Invincible, etc. were the ones protecting the entire world, not just Fawcett City. Many of their adventures take place across the globe (particularly overseas because it was WWII and everyone was fighting Nazis).
Technically Fawcett City didn't even exist when these heroes were introduced. I think even Captain Marvel was set in a city meant to be New York City or a fictional stand in for it. It was eventually called Fawcett City as a callback to the original publishers (this was in the 80s I think?).
Since Captain Marvel was acquired by DC, most Fawcett heroes haven't been brought back in any meaningful way, so they functionally don't exist in the current DC version of Fawcett City.
Which is all a roundabout way of saying it depends!
Originally Fawcett City was probably NYC-esque in size, though not all of the Fawcett heroes would actually operate out of it. For a while after DC took over, Fawcett was probably a mid sized city (smaller than say Metropolis, but probably on par with Central City) located somewhere in the midwest. In current continuity it is technically a suburb of Philadelphia, so not that big at all.
I know it's pretty complicated but I hope this helps!

Finding Each Other-Chapter 2
Fandom: Superman, Batman, Shazam, and Wonder Woman
Characters: Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Dick Grayson, Diana Prince, Billy Batson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Kara Zor El, Damian Wayne, Cassandra Cain, Alfred Pennyworth, Lex Luthor, Jonathan Kent, Connor Kent
Summary: Clark Kent always knew he wanted a family. He just always thought it would be traditional like his parents. Little did he know that destiny had something different in store for him.
Chapter 1
Clark flew to the Gotham City Culture Museum Friday night in record time. He barely made it on time because he wanted to make sure to get Lois a care package after her procedure was done. He wanted to make sure she was comfortable and had stuff to do since she was always one that is on the go. He got her several murder mysteries that she had been wanting to read but never had the time for, a bubble bath kit, a box of caramel chocolates, and an electric blanket. Lois looked all cozy when he left her. As he landed, he thought about what his game plan was for tonight. Clark tapped his chin as he quickly exited the alley he landed in and headed up the museum steps.
Maybe I could hang out with Lois later tonight depending on how long this thing lasts.
The museum was supposed to give a presentation, followed by food, and then let the guest walk through their main exhibit: City of Atlantis. According to the notes Perry gave Lois, Bruce was supposed to be making his grand debut with his son there. Clark thought it would be easy to spot a single dad with his son since usually, these late-night museum events tended to have mostly adults. However, Clark was startled when he walked in and saw numerous of the upcoming and wealthy with their families browsing around.
Clark raised an eyebrow.
If Bruce is really here with his kid tonight, the setup is quite clever. Since there have been no recent photos of Bruce since he was 15 and no photos of his new child, they could easily blend into the crowd without anyone knowing.
Clark sighed while rolling his eyes.
This is a reporter’s worst nightmare. There are at least 500 people here tonight. No way I am finding Wayne without him or the boy doing or saying something flashy.
Clark shook his head and was able to go to a table and take a seat when he heard someone said, “Surprised to see you in a place like this.”
Clark froze for a second when he heard that voice. It was a voice he was hoping to never hear from again. He sighed as he turned around and saw his ex Lex Luthor standing behind him.
Of course, my ex would be here when I am out on assignment.
Lex and Clark used to date when they were in college. As it edged towards their graduation, they discovered that they had fundamental differences in how they wanted to spend the rest of their lives. Clark had always wanted kids. He dreamed of being even half the man his Pa was. However, Lex absolutely despised kids. He thought they were vile creatures. Clark never understood that because everyone was a kid once. Clark asked Lex once how he was able to survive childhood without interacting with any kids. He said that his parents had him home-schooled because his intellect was far superior to the kids in his age group. That should have been a red flag for Clark, but for some reason, Clark hoped that Lex was just kidding.
However, Clark learned quickly that wasn’t the case. When they graduated, Lex just wanted Clark to follow him to Luthor Corp and work in his father’s company. Clark thought about it since they did have a print division, however, Lex wanted Clark to only work as his assistant while Lex continued to build up his own career. Clark wanted to support Lex in his career endeavors, but he didn’t feel that he should have to put his aspirations on hold for Lex to soar. However, Lex wanted Clark’s devotion only to him. Clark broke up with him after that which Lex didn’t take too well. He blackballed Clark in about every newspaper market except for one: The Daily Planet in Metropolis. The only reason why Perry White, the head of the paper, took a chance on Clark was because he hated Lex’s guts, and Lex couldn’t blackmail Perry after recently losing the libel lawsuit with the Daily Planet. Ever since then, Clark avoided him like the plague. Luckily, Clark was always hesitant about sharing his powers with Lex and he didn’t start his superhero duties until after they broke up. He can’t imagine what Lex would do if he had that information hanging over his head.
Clark sighed and said, “You know that I have always been a fan of museums”.
Lex smirked and said, “Oh, so that is why you are here. I assume that the insignificant paper….hmmm…what’s it called?… The Daily Planet sent you here on assignment. I know you like museums but invitations to this event only went out to high-ranking families that are honestly out of your wage bracket.”
Clark was fuming internally but he schooled his face to remain passive.
Lex just wants a rise out of me to boost his ego.
Lex came closer and tried to caress his face, but Clark recoiled back which caused Lex’s smirk to falter, but quickly came back on his face.
“Don’t be like that love. Obviously, your career choices aren’t panning out if they are just having you go to assignments like these. I remember you saying you wanted to use your writing and interviewing skills to change the world. If they were just going to have you do this drivel, you should have just come with me to Luthor Corp. I could have found better things to do with your time.”
Clark narrowed his eyes at Lex.
The nerve of this asshole to think my life can only be better because of him. I don’t have time to play these mind games.
Clark took a deep breath. He could be honest about being here to cover for a friend. However, he knew that Lex wouldn’t believe any of that. He would have to do something that he wasn’t very proud of but it would be effective to get Lex off his back.
Clark smirked and asked, “Who said anything about me being on assignment? I am here for pleasure.”
Lex scoffed and asked, “You’re here for pleasure. I find that interesting. Since the paper didn’t send you and I know you aren’t rich, please pray tell how you were able to get into the event tonight?”
Clark chuckled and said, “I do have a life outside of my job, Lex. I am here with my fiancé and his kid browsing around. They went to grab seats since I was running late. Traffic from Metropolis to Gotham was brutal.”
Lex looked at Clark startled. Clark smirked.
It never occurred to him that I could move on without him.
The lights started flashing indicating that the presentation was about to start in a minute.
Clark flashed a bright smile and said, “Well, it was interesting speaking with you, but I should be going. I don’t want my fiancé and his kid to worry.”
With that, Clark quickly walked away leaving a dumbfounded Lex behind. Clark hated being petty and knew that his Ma would frown on behavior like that, but the look on Lex’s face was worth it.

Billy wakes up.
He has a test today. It’s Friday, his science class has a test every Friday to go over what they learned in the week. He feels optimistic, but then his League communicator pings.
Felix Faust in Star, send backup
He sighs, bumbling down the stairs to catch Rosa and Darla setting up a quick breakfast before school and tell them he needs to head out. Rosa says she’ll write a note that he caught a sudden flu, he’ll take his test Monday when he gets back. He runs outside, calling down his thunder and is off to help as he always does.
Billy wakes up, his alarm blaring as he turns over with a groan to silence it. He brings his hand down to hit the snooze button and the side table breaks into splinters, the Strength of Heracles had activated without his permission. Again
He worries over it, spending too long silently mourning the side table his dorm room had come with and the phone that still had so much use left in it. It feels like a waste, both mourning the action and almost crying over what he lost. It’s what a quiet voice in his head tells him, that he shouldn’t cry over something so trivial, like his phone was split milk and not something that felt so special to him as the gift the Vasquez’s got him when he actually stayed until his birthday. Something he hadn’t done for any other previous foster home, something he only shared with them like he used to when he still had his mom.
He goes through the motions of getting ready for classes at the academy, going slow and measuring every pull of fabric like his shirt over his head and his jeans up to his hips. They don’t tear, but he’s scared his— that Heracles strength would cause him to ruin his clothes if he rushed like he normally did or put in too much effort.
He heads to class and listens to his history lecture, doing all he can to ignore the aged voice of a long dead king not picking their teaching technique and reminiscing their own past. The classroom one voice louder than it should be.
Marvel wakes up, jolting from sleep like the thunder claps that summon him. Hands flying to pat himself down as he looks down with horror. “Shazam!”
He’s gone as soon as Billy had woken up, the window by his bed now broken in from the lightning arching through the opening to detransform him. He heaves a breath in, then another, and quickly spirals into hyperventilating.
He didn’t even wake up in his own body. He went to bed as Billy, why did he wake up different? Wouldn’t he wake up from transforming?
He looks out the broken glass of his window, steadying his breath the best he can as the storm clouds roll away.
Billy wakes up above his bed, free falling into his mattress from the few feet he’d gone up while unconscious. Face planted into his pillow, he cries himself back to sleep.
Billy wakes up from a nightmare fighting Arson Fiend with his fist through the wall his bed is pressed against and into the neighboring room, the kid on the other side awake and yelling at him as to what he was doing.
Billy wakes up.
Billy wakes up.
Marvel wakes up, his new phone buzzing on the floor next to his bed. He’d moved it to the middle of the room, he’d started tying an ankle to the post to keep from flying out too high or far from his bed. His phone buzzes again, a call. Looking over the edge has his sisters face smiling at him, and the strength of Heracles nor the courage of Achilles helps him muster up the will to answer her with a voice not his own. He hardly has the strength to mutter his word, something he’d call out proudly with a lions roar now reduced to a complacent whimper of the battle cry it once was.
He’s told he’s just growing up, that what he’s feeling is something everyone else has had to go through. He wants to believe his teachers, the Titans, his parents, but as well meaning as they are he can’t find himself able to believe that what he’s feeling is normal.
The phone goes silent, and eternity drags on.
Inspired by @billymarvel ‘s post about Dick absolutely sucking at his lil’ pep talk to Billy about his powers going wonky, he’s a sad lil bean and I want to hug him

NEW CAP MARVEL THOUGHT: Billy Batson actually being a very well-known figure in the superhero community, just like as himself. he's a little boy w his own radio show who reports on superhero stuff & has a lot of surprisingly smart and insightful things to say so of course ppl know & like him and listen to his show.
it's a pretty well known fact that he and the other radio staff are buds w Captain Marvel so not uncommon for people to get in touch with Billy when they want a message passed to Cap & consequently build up a rapport. & they all like Billy! he's a great kid. :) literally no-one questions any of this.

Quick headcanon that at some point, the Justice League makes a time-off calendar for every time a leaguer is busy and needs someone to keep their city safe while they’re gone. Maybe they have a work trip or a family thing or even some vacation they planned.
All a hero has to do is request time off, and another member will sub in while they’re gone. The only problem is that it creates a pattern. It would be suspicious if Green Arrow is only replaced when Oliver Queen is on a business trip, right? So to keep the public on their toes, JL members are encouraged to take a random day off each month or so and switch out with no rhyme or reason. Just any random day, any random hour.
The outcome is complete chaos.
Clark Kent has the pleasure of interviewing Wonder Woman at the scene of a car chase she just stopped in Metropolis.
Some muggers in Star City are scooped up into a giant glowing cage while Green Lantern riddles off bird puns to an exasperated Black Canary.
A team of robbers hit a bank in Central City but get roasted by Plastic Man for their poor their safe-cracking skills as they’re taken into custody.
Black Manta uses his high tech weaponry to wreak havoc in the Atlantic only to be hit with a torpedo as the Bat-Sub dives towards him at full speed.
Cyborg is lecturing a group of teen vandals in Fawcett City when Captain Marvel just waltzes up, says, “I’m tapping back in,” and continues the lecture where he left off.
Complete. And. Utter. Chaos. No one knows who will show up at the scene now, not even the cops, but criminals are scared shitless.
The JL decides to keep the calendar. If only for entertainment.
