Wonderful Things That May or May Not Be Wonderful!!! What instrument is most synonymous with the musical style of jazz? Some might say the trumpet or the piano but for my money, the answer is clear: the saxophone. Created in 1846 by Belgian instrument builder, Adolphe Sax, the phone that carries his name was meant to be the bridge between brass and woodwind instruments. Over time, it was clear that its distinct sound and wide dynamic range made it especially suited to improvisational solos. Maybe that's why it was picked up by famous jazz aficionados like Charlie Parker and John Coltrane. Maybe that's why the instrument seems to stand out whenever it is brought into a piece. That's not always the case. More subdued or "classical" saxophones do exist. Heck, there is nothing that says the instrument has to be used in a jazz composition. Still, it is something to think about. Whatever the case, nothing beats that saxophone sound, solo or otherwise. Unique, prolific, and stylish to boot. The saxophone is most definitely wonderful.

ahhh. I hadn't planned on it, but I might throw something in. I'm beginning to realize I need to add a section on how poorly Taikia handled the Thor franchise. It is not in my nature to call people out when I see they did something wrong, and I hate blaming a specific person for something that is usually a group of people's problem. But Taikia Did Stuff to the fandom that cannot be undone and I think it is important to address that. It's why I never discussed Michael Waldron in my Loki video.

Mostly I've talked at length about the character assassinations because that was what I wanted to focus on. But I'm going to do more research. I was trying to rush to get it done before I start a new job next week, but I think it will probably be a better video if I just hold off a bit, do more research and gather my thoughts together a bit more coherently. I should definitely add a section about Skurge and Korg though. I also want to poke at the massive plot hole that makes the entire story fall apart because I CANNOT UNSEE IT and I noticed it in theaters and it BROKE the believability of the story for me because no one addressed it.

My grandmother is Japanese and really likes to give gifts. Often those gifts are Japanese desserts or other food, but sometimes she just slips me cash, folded up inside a tiny, beautiful envelope. But she likes to pretend she's not giving me money, so when possible, she'll hide it somewhere that I will find later.

Today I spent the afternoon with her doing chores and tech support, and she clearly felt this warranted a significant gift in return (no matter that I enjoyed myself). But she forgot to slip something into my pocket or bag before I left, so instead she rushed outside as I was starting my car, making the old-school "roll down the window" gesture. Once I complied, she was forced to acknowledge she was handing me money, but she also tried to minimize the gesture.

The result was that she said, "Thank you, dear! I just wanted you to be able to... to buy yourself a hamburger," and then handed me a darling little envelope that turned out to contain $100. And all I could think was:
