Z-O-M-B-I-E-S Biohazard AU (Working Title)

This AU strongly emphasises on rewriting the series with a different visual style and tone. Seabrook is a near ghost town ever since the Zombie outbreak happened. The town is under constant surveillance and any outside world contact for residents of the town is controlled and observed by the military and government.

Seabrook is a town on the coast of Oregon. It is a large town in terms of area size, however it has a small population of around 2000-3000. There are thousands of abandoned and vacant homes in the area.

Around 1000 of that population are zombies.

Zombietown is a lot smaller and made up of buildings from the outskirts of Seabrook, one of the main buildings is the abandoned hospital. (A new, smaller one was constructed in the human side after the outbreak)

The hospital became sort of a community centre for Zombietown. Before being let into Seabrook High, zombies had their classes held at the morgue. After they started going to school the morgue just became a general teen hangout zone.

Zombies are still mutations caused by the lime soda, they are alive and age and function like humans mostly. However, they like to embrace the undead thing.

Also, the one thing that very much separates them from humans is that sometimes their limbs can detach, their bodies have the ability to reattach them though.

There are mountains and cliffs surrounding parts of Seabrook, as well as the sea of course. The entire town has a large fence surrounding it and is mostly forest, the nearest town is about 100 miles east of Seabrook, and it's a relatively normal town. The nearest city is Mountain City. There is a military base near Seabrook to monitor the activity of the town and ensure that the Zombie outbreak is contained.

Cheerleading is still a massive part of the town. The majority of the population are youth and so there's a lot of care and emphasis to the school events happening in the town.

There is also a very small community college in the town.

Crime is very low in the area, local cops don't have a lot to do and a lot of them are just assigned to monitor Zombietown

Things like internet access in the town is heavily limited. Very few select sites are allowed to be used by the town, things like social media and forums are blocked, so the community have created and coded their own forums and websites. Outsiders cannot access any sites hosted from Seabrook.

Once the outbreak happened, there was a lot of panic. After around 6 months, the military had walls built up and sent the zombies to live in Zombietown, they let people who wished to leave the town after being tested for the Zombie virus. As there was still a lot of assumptions it was dangerous in some way. Thousands of people moved away from the town thinking they were in danger from Zombies, people moved out of the town in batches yearly until 2018 where the population was in the mere thousands.

Some people decided to stay for varying reasons. It was a lengthy process being allowed to leave the town and money / finding a house was also a big issue for a lot of people. Some were even denied because they had been in contact with Zombies.

Others simply didn't mind the zombies, or loved the town too much to leave.

All the other monsters will definitely exist in the AU, I just haven't figured out how to write them in yet.

Also, daylight hours are unexplainably short (or at least appear that way) in around Seabrook. Nobody has any idea why and it’s talked about a lot when it comes to unexplained phenomena in the world. I’m thinking of making this have to do with the moonstone or something, not sure yet though

Also, as for characters I want to generally keep their personalities and stories as accurate to the original as i can, though I will be rewriting Addison a lot

Addison is a little more reserved and shy, her wig comes off a lot earlier on in the story and her and Zed’s relationship has a lot more slow burn / time with them just being friends before they start dating, other than that their dynamic and relationship is pretty much the same once they begin dating

and quick edit, i didn’t include any of this in the other art because i only thought of this afterwards:

Addison has pink and green heterochromia, she used to wear coloured lenses to fix this but once she stopped wearing the wig she stopped wearing the contacts

I haven't drawn a lot of the visuals yet, but I really want to! If I have the time and motivation, I'd love to write and draw a fan-comic series based on this concept. I was thinking of grabbing some photos off pinterest as reference for roughly what I would want it to look like, but finding credit for the stuff thats on those type of sites is a nightmare so I won’t.

I’ve still not wrote a lot of the actual story, but I imagine this would be around their second week of starting high school, the day Addison took off/lost her wig (Don’t worry: Addison does not act like she did in the films about her hair, she’s self conscious about it but doesn’t compare it to the struggles of the monsters or act like she’s oppressed for it) They’re sitting awkwardly at the bus stop once school is over because they’ve very briefly met, Addison feels embarrassed about the wig situation and is also awkward because she has to wait at the bus stop with someone she doesn’t know really.

This entire thing was just built off of me wanting to draw some fanart of the series where Seabrook has a much more idk... desolate? atmosphere don't get me wrong I love the silly cheery disney channel vibe of the films and it's like a massive part of why I love them so much, but I've always been interested in drawing fanart where the place has a much more empty vibe, it's almost creepy but somehow calming in a way. It feels like some liminal space images almost. It’s also very green/blue

Also, the AU has a way darker tone in terms of atmosphere than the original movies however if I create the comic it will still be completely kid friendly, I might give it more horror aspects but it'll be like coraline-level creepiness. I'd probably give it a age recommendation of 10+? more like 13+ though because it’s all gonna be on tumblr

Anyway, I can't wait to draw more stuff of this AU! I've never been super good at enviroments or backgrounds so I'm hoping this can give me an excuse to practice them lol

Do you think in the Z-o-m-b-i-e-s universe the humans think that their dynamics would affect / effect how the zombies saw them so then rumors started?

Like ‘if you’re an Omega you have a better chance of living than if you were an Alpha because of your scent’

‘Being an Alpha caught in a zombies mob would suck cause they’d immediately try and eat your brains.’

‘Zombies are just drawn to Alphas which sucks for them’

Betas and Omegas are warned that they’d ‘leech’ off them if caught. (cause i can see uneducated ppl thinking as zombies as viruses aka not living and needing a ‘host’ to survive and shit)

‘Zombies prefer Beta Male brains’

‘Alpha Females are actually most at risk for being eaten so stay away’

and so on?

That is super interesting to think about! It makes me wonder if they'd think zombies lost their dynamics, in that vein of thinking "they've lost all humanity". In that scenario, I could see Addison not recognizing Zed's a zombie at first in that fated panic room, not just because the light's were down but because "he has a scent, just like a human. I don't even have to question it".

And yeah, to bounce off that parasite one, I actually would be really shocked if they didn't think it was a virus at first! That's what people normally think, so why wouldn't they? Imagine you were there the day of the outbreak, not in the building where the lime soda but somewhere close. You'd be watching these people coming out of the electrical building dazed and green(ish) and you're like "damn, is flu season really that bad this year?"

Everyone is born with a jumble of letters on their wrist, letters that will eventually be decoded to read their soulmate's name. So on a person's birthday, each year, a new letter falls into its proper place. It's not always in order; it can be a letter from the person's first, middle, or last name, though the first letter of each is always unscrambled early in life.

Zed's wrist reads Adlieon Rosalind Wsdls. It's just his luck that his soulmate's middle name is unscrambled before her first and last names. He's entering high school in two days and doesn't even know his soulmate's first name. He has no way to find her, if she even lives in Seabrook.

The first thing he'd noticed, at only six years old, is the lack of Z in her name. She isn't a zombie, unless her family decided not to follow zombie naming culture, which is unlikely. He knows almost every zombie in Zombietown and there are none with a name similar to his soulmate's.

His only chance now is human high school.

On the other side of the barrier, in a big, lonely house, Addison stares down at the wrist that she's had covered since her recent fifteenth birthday.

Zed Necrodopolis. A zombie.

Her father had been furious when he'd read the name, recognising it from his job as captain of the Z-patrol. Her mother had considered getting her soulmark removed, but the side effects were too great -memory loss, chronic pain, loss of emotion, even death. So she got a thick pink bracelet, the kind worn by those with dead soulmates, those whose soulmarks had started fading and the ink of the letters smudging together. Better have everyone pity her with the assumption of a dead soulmate than ruin her and her families reputations.

Seabrook Spirit (Role-Swap AU)

In the Role-Swap AU, I imagine the toxic green haze from the power plant blew East instead of West. It was also caused by lemonade, rather then lime soda. This means Seabrook is just basically reversed, and what was once perfect is now zombie and vise versa.

Addizon’s hood is covered in pink, lime green and black. Those are the official colors of Zombietown, and they can be found everywhere. Even in the coveralls.

Seabrook High’s colors (and the general palette of Seabrook) is maroon, evergreen and beige with silver and white accents. This is seen in common clothing, but also in the uniforms worn by athletes — as pictured here.

Alright, it's Halloween peeps (everyone knows that Halloween lasts the whole month). And @wheezystan inspired me with their zombie weasels to post about something that's been brewing in my head for a while.

The Rotten Ink AU

Warning for... Well, zombies. And the horror and angst that comes with it. And isolation, and the insanity that that comes with as well. What have I done to our favorite toons?

Note that this AU is still being developed. I apologize if it doesn't look so cohesive 😅

~Story~

Set two years before the events of the film, in 1945. No one knows what happened. Not the humans, not the toons, not even the animators responsible for breathing life into ink and paint. Though things have started to go terribly wrong in Toontown.

It's hard to pinpoint when it started, though the first sign was when toons started to feel pain. Instead of a hand comically turning red and blowing up in size when smashed or punching a brick wall, the skin started to actually rip- and in worse cases, the bones would break just like a human. The second horrible sign was that, unlike a human, these wounds wouldn't heal. No matter how many bandages were applied and stitches were sewn. And the ink that made their person would ooze from the seams.

It wasn't just the sentient toons that were changing. The living architecture of Toontown started to rot away, coughing up coagulated ink onto the street and becoming more brittle. The chirping blue birds lost their song and would fall from the sky. Even the smiling sun and moon that used to shine brightly in the animated sky bled out, and their remains rained down onto the once bright and colorful town. Of course, this caused a panic among everyone. Though the humans assured the toons to remain calm, as they were already looking into what was happening. So, filled with dread, the toons attempted to continue life as normal.

However, it was only after an infected toon went deranged in a studio, causing so much damage to the other toons and people, did the humans decide on a drastic choice. It was taking too long to find an answer to what was happening to their beloved characters, and they saw no other choice but to cut them off from the rest of Los Angeles. The tunnel was closed off, with policemen guarding the entrance with orders to shoot on sight if any toons attempted to reach the outside world.

So now, the residents are stuck in the dying town. As time went by, neighbors were forced to fight each other as the infection grew worse and worse, turning each other into what everyone refer to as 'inkies'; toons that are husks of their former selves, with a seemingly insatiable urge to rip anyone they see apart for more ink. Toons have had to learn how to be cautious for their own lives, and as resources and shelter become more scarce, even those who have not completely fallen under the infection are now potential threats.

How did this all get started? Will there ever be a cure? Will everyone be turned to normal again? No one knows. But for now, all one can do is survive.

~Tid-Bits~

I was mainly inspired by The Walking Dead, and not just in the title. The infection in this AU works similarly to the virus in TWD (at least the Telltale game that I played). In that everyone is infected, and you not being bit doesn't mean you won't turn once you die. In fact, for the toons, as long as they don't get themselves killed, being bit will not turn them. The disease is already doing that job. It's mostly only a matter of time before someone is turned into an inky.

As such, there are plenty of toons that have bite marks, and even parts of themselves missing, yet they are completely safe to be around. As long as they aren't willing to hurt others to survive.

Since this is before the events of the movie, that does mean that Marvin Acme is still alive. In fact, he's the one leading the cause for finding a cure for toons. So he plays quite a big role in this AU.

That also means that the weasels are alive, too. And thriving. In this AU, they're the kind of group of survivors that the others find themselves depending on, as they are the ones who are willing to raid any inky infested area for supplies, but people are still afraid of them since they still act as a gang. They're kind of like a necessary evil in this town. Though as long as you don't get on their bad side, you'll be fine.

Since toons are based on emotion, having been made to make people laugh or cry, inkies are only permanently killed when you shoot them in the heart. Much like a vampire, yes.

I'm still debating it, but I'm thinking that, like the zombies in Shaun of the Dead, the inkies retain some semblance of their past life. For example, a cowboy inky may keep holding onto their revolver or stick by their horse despite them serving no purprise to it anymore.

That's all I've got for now. And it may change in the future. Wheezystan, as a fellow zombie lover, I hope you in particular enjoy this! ^^

Leona: *Fires a shot, his right eye closed*

………..Ok, fuck it, I’m giving this my best shot

Zombies:

The zombie outbreak was actually more like… an arachnid outbreak maybe??? Zombies and spiders though. “Zombies made by a spider disease~”, whatever ok you get the idea. And the genetics passed on have an Insane variety of powers. Zed just happens to be one who gets web with extremely strong tensile strength. I just. Spider-Zed. SPIDER-ZED C’MON MAN WE CAN’T NOT USE THAT SOMEHOW— this one for me Has to be set in a grimier Seabrooke, like it’s Zombies mixed into Spiderman

This is kind of like the Spider-Man mixed into Zombies. All of the events of Zombies basically occurs the same, except somewhere we get an arc where Someone (don’t know who yet) gets bitten by a radioactive (or moon crystal infected whatever, you get the idea-ish) spider. I’d also heavily agree within this category the existence of just. Spider people. Arachne are just another type of monster and that includes Peter and Gwen and Noir and whoever else from Spiderverses we want. I mostly want that so Addison is bitten by a regular spider and has her usual crisis, hahaha

Descendants:

The Isle has stopped relying on magic in the 20 years away from it. Does Disney have evil scientists????? Does Professor Callahan from Big Hero 6 or the villain in Meet the Robinson’s count? Is Meet the Robisons Disney??????? Ok who cares you get the idea, maybe the kids just learn the power of science. Point is we pull a Garfield!!!! That is, the webbing is synthetic. It’s something all the Isle kids have? This would almost be a war movie by the end I’m realizing, where the Isle has incidentally created this army of radioactive children…

I want Carlos to be the star in this variant for some reason. Carlos the one with the bite, and it happens in lieu of the events of D1. Maybe Carlos does the web as a side project (Garfield-esque), like he originally makes it so he can grab things from his mom’s insanely weird little mansion faster. He’s already been super sensitive when sensing she’s been near, but he always thought it was just trauma stuff. When he gets to Auradon, he starts using it in secret to zip around the city to learn more about it and it’s really helpful. With his tech, Carlos feels useful for once, like he’s not always running away. To the Core 4, he’s the scouter with ~mysterious ways~ of collecting intel. Ben notices him zipping around first but doesn’t tell anyone, but Evie quickly catches second. She uses it as an excuse to sew Carlos his own Spidey suit!!! Soon though, with Auradon’s advanced labs, Carlos can make wayyy stronger tech. And from there I can’t decide if he just makes stuff for the Core 4 or if Mal & Jay steal it (to abuse it for petty crimes and/or schemes to stalk Ben), or really just where to go generally

I guess there’s always the thought too that someone other than Carlos gets these powers, but they’d have a far less tech-y approach. Mal and Jay would absolutely use it from the get-go whereas Evie would hide it because “gross” spider glands make me ugly. I’m even considering Ben now. He’d sneak off into the night with his powers to do some rebellious-ish things, anything to escape the pressure of kinghood so young. I’d kind of love it if Mal began finding/admiring these weirdly unique spray paintings in town and they’re Ben’s

If you have any ideas anyone, PLEASE let me know, I am DYING to see what the hell we can do with this insane prompt because there’s potential!!!
