Why does Ben have Aiden's last name, isn't his mom related to Aiden's mom??

Like, we all know how surnames work in America; Wife typically takes the husband's last name, or they take both (or she doesn't take it at all, idk). Aiden's dad is obviously the one who had Clark as his surname. However, Ben also has this surname, but the dads aren't related, the moms are, how'd he get Daniel's surname??

Note that the Clark moms are sisters, because Niaomi literally said "I think what my sister is trying to say..."

So... how did Ben get the surname Clark? Either Red wasn't thinking about the parents (sorry no offense 😭), or he changed his last name...? Idk, I just realized that while thinking about a possible Thomas Aiden duet with 'Stayed Gone' (Rainbow factory au real??)

Did Jason open up his trauma to Jazz? Since she is the group team mom

Oh my Ancients, yes. She cracked that boy open like a walnut. It took a bit, but Jazz reminds him somewhat of Barbara and Harley, so he warmed up to her fairly quickly overall. She really taught him what it's like to have a big sibling(sorry, I love Dick but he was a shit older brother before Jason died).

Jason will talk to Jazz about things he'd never say to anyone else. He actually opens up to Ember and Kitty too, but they're more for when he wants someone to cry with and to have get all enraged on his behalf. Jazz is who he talks to when he wants to fix it.

It wasn't always like that. He had to learn how to differentiate. Had to learn when he needed help, when he had things that needed to be fixed. He had to unlearn the emotional constipation and phobia of talking about his feelings he learned from Bruce too. But Jazz is used to dealing with teenage boys who won't admit they're hurting even on pain of death. She's good at subtly working their pain out and helping them confront it. (She learned a lot from helping Danny and from her Psych classes so she's more crafty about it too)

Jazz is one of the biggest reasons Jason is as stable and emotionally healthy as he is. He's not healed completely. He won't be until he gets closure with Bruce and the Joker. And there's some things that will always stick around. Trauma leaves scars. But without Jazz, we wouldn't have the Jason we do in TKAHRK we'd have someone far closer to the Jason from UTRH.

I am This Close to watching the untamed

OH MY GOD PLEASE WATCH IT

okay to start with. the live action show is very good and a great place to start but it has some important differences from the novel and the donghua (animated show). i personally prefer a combination of cql (the untamed/the live action, that's the acronym i'll be using for it from now on) and the donghua; the novel suffers a lot of lost in translation effect and whatnot and i personally dislike the way the relationship is built in several places in it as opposed to how the adaptations do it, but it's definitely still worth reading. (dm me on discord if you want a copy of a pretty good fan translation of the novel and also like, a link to a place you can watch the donghua, btw.) other problems with cql: censorship hits the live action the hardest and their budget was i'm pretty sure basically nonexistent (they very clearly spent most of it on the costumes and the props, which you know what, the costumes are fucking stunning so great choice). so they changed the worldbuilding some and like.... the fight scenes? are really not good. they're really not good. also the special effects are universally pretty bad. it can make watching some parts of it difficult to get through, and there are some plot elements that are changed as well that i dislike, and a lot of the moral greyness of the original story had to get removed because again, censorship issues (if you want the most accurate, non-morally-whitewashed take first, you'll want to start with the novel, which is also what has the explicitly gay stuff). it's also not explicitly gay - but the actors played it as gay and there are multiple marriage metaphors and holy fuck like. honestly. there doesn't need to be a kiss or a confession or anything it's REALLY FUCKING GAY.

what cql excels in is its character interactions. the acting is absolutely stunning, the soundtrack is beautiful, and every single scene is just done with so much heart and emotion in it. so definitely keep that in mind going into it. i've watched it all the way through i think 3 or 4 times and i still keep seeing new fun details in the background that i hadn't noticed before.

the donghua, on the other hand, has an absolutely stunning art style, very very good voice acting, the worldbuilding and plot are more accurate to the book, and the magic and combat scenes are much more realistic for a fantasy and the powers they have. however, it, especially specifically the third and final season, is very rushed (and it has its own plot changes to fit how much they had to condense things, mostly just in the second half of season 3) and excludes some details, so it can be confusing if you don't know what you're seeing first. i recommend either watching cql or reading the novel first, then watching the donghua!

in terms of like, actual fandom stuff! so the main character of mdzs is, obviously, Wei Wuxian. i'm not sure how much you know but he's like. an incredibly ADHD man with horrible self-worth issues (despite being arrogant as hell) and a very strong sense of justice who is extremely brilliant and goes through a shitton of tragedy. he is known for inventing a viable form of necromancy, which is considered incredibly heretical and, among other things, gets him killed, and then gets him resurrected, so you know. pros and cons. he does magic by playing the flute. he is a disaster bisexual and also a bit of an alcoholic (okay a lot of an alcoholic) and i love him. his love interest is stoic and serious and incredibly autistic-coded and has been in love with him since they were teenagers and literally wrote him a love song. the two of them get trapped in a cave together and have to kill an ancient corrupted divine monster without weapons. it's very romantic. wei wuxian as a younger teenager is basically the epitome of a child pulling a girl's pigtails because he has a crush and is desperate for attention.

anyway, i'm not sure how much you know about the plot, but there's two timelines going on - the present and the past. the present is after wei wuxian is resurrected, and he and lan wangji (the love interest, in case you haven't picked up on the names yet - everyone has like two or three names and it can be hard to tell them apart at first) are basically going on a fun little murder mystery quest while also babysitting a bunch of teenagers which then abruptly devolves into politics, murder, more politics, and more murder. the past on the other hand goes from a high school definitely-not-a-romance to a goddamn war drama to politics and back to. hm. not exactly a war drama anymore but i'm really not sure how to describe everything that happens after a certain event. it's all very much a tragedy and the real "villain" of the story (which is less obvious in cql, again because of moral whitewashing due to censorship, though honestly i feel like they did a pretty good job of staying as true to the source material as they could all things considered, a whole lot of the scenes were word for word from the novel just slightly edited to fit the adjusted worldbuilding or plot changes) is the mob mentality, rumors and gossip and hearsay, and society itself!

basically i think it depends on when and where i come into contact with the mystery goo. when im in middle school at home? gerbil. any other age at home? bug. any age after 6yo either at school or going home after it? cat. just hanging out outside? one of the local birds, hopefully a magpie.

my deal is probably that i take up residence in one of the abandoned buildings in my neighborhood and become the local cryptid inspiring many a ghost story >:) in my spare time i keep an eye on the reckless kids that wonder into the more dangerous areas of the abandoned building i inhabit, sometimes forced to simply scare them away from those areas.

im not really a fighter and i dont know any fighting styles but if anything, it'd probably be something more focused on self-defense than fighting itself

technically, if speaking "literally", any piece of writing leaves you with nothing, as it is literally just ink on paper, it cannot give you anything. what you gain from it is all up to you.

what I feel like some people missed is that this story has an unreliable narrator- the unreliability coming from her naive understanding of what is happening around her. she describes what she thinks she sees and sees that as the truth, makes assumptions and takes them for facts. she does not comprehend the severity of the situation or just how truly fucked up it is, so after its over, she does not care. what she cares about is the very clear problem lying ahead: how she can possibly go back home without any clothes? and then her internal focus- Eddie and what he managed to make her believe through his manipulations- which is their love. his affection is her priority, whether true or not, as it is real to her.

so once everything is over and done, she doesn't realise what was happening. she doesn't know any better. eddie pulled her so far into this darkness, she's going in fully blind and blindly following his every word, no questions asked. he told her it was fine and that this was all meant to happen, so why would she worry? and he's still being so sweet to her, so it all must be alright, right?

given how tightly “ages 9 and below” flight rising’s content restrictions have been lately i’m surprised they even allowed the pirate npc. like.... they do know what pirates are, right? “plunder” isn’t just a cute playful little meaningless roleplay word it means stealing shit from people by attacking and probably killing them. plunder is stolen goods at gunpoint. is the pirate npc... actually a pirate? like where does he get his stuff? pirate’s not an aesthetic category it’s a historical group of raiders that were known for among many other things robbing, killing, and occasionally raping and possibly kidnapping people. you can’t just slap “pirate” on without dealing with the implications there! if he’s actually a pirate there’s a high likelihood all those nice goods he’s selling at the grand exchange were taken off a corpse floating above the leviathan trench somewhere! there’s no way he’s here legally unless there’s some serious shady shit going on with the local governing bodies! if you’re so damn committed to having the kiddiest of kiddie-safe games you can’t just toss in an allegedly actual pirate as a salesperson npc and act like nothing’s weird there!

like either patches is a regular, possibly adventurous merchant who’s larping as a pirate for gods only know what reason, or he’s some kind of pirate-themed revolutionary who only attacks ships owned by the evil empire or something, or in their ever-increasing fever-pitched quest to hypersanitize the hell out of everything for the poor 13+ year old Literal Infants who will die should they find out something as dark as the color red exists the content restrictions team and writing department over at flight rising are being hypocrites again.
