🏞️🇮🇩 Well That Was Unexpected by Jesse Q. Sutanto Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jesse Q. Sutanto has been one of my favorite authors since I first read “Dial A for Aunties”. This book did not disappoint especially in making me laugh and gush over Sharlot and George. I related to Sharlot when going to visit where your family is and feeling out of place. Plus dealing with how people view you as not being “insert county” enough cause you were born there or grew up there. Sharlot’s relationship with her mom had me reflecting on my teen self’s relationship with my mom and related to their ups and downs. Over all it’s a cute book that’s makes for a cute and funny YA book. Growing up in a big family, I know how it feels like to be surrounded by super cuties but so meddlesome aunties and relatives. Over the family gathering, those questions circling around"kapan kawin?" are dominated our dining table. So meet Meddy, Ma and her meddling aunts - Chinese-Indonesian descendent living the the Western part of the world. Their life starts to get more and more exciting when Meddy accudently grt drunk on the blind date and accidentally committed a murder. She didn't know what to do and went to Ma who later contacted the aunt to rescue Meddy. The rest of the book later focuses how Meddy, Ma and Aunts 911 (as I refer to the aunts) deal with the dead body. Not an easy job tho when Meddy would have also to deal with a meddling sheriff, her -lionare grom-to-be, and of course- her Aunts 911 are really something. I spent most of my time reading this book while laughing out loud and cringing for how horrifically awry Meddy’s weekend goes. Yet I also feel bad for Meddy as she's being a hot mess and I feel about hugging her than sending her to the prison. I won't believe that she would convict a murder too. Gosh gosh...this book is fun and funny, clever and thought provoking too. It’s an interesting mix of characters, and the plot is superb. A must read. I found the romance the least interesting part (unsurprising, I’m not really the target reader there) but the accidental murder shenanigans and fallout had me legitimately laughing out loud so many times during this book. Dial A for aunties was such a fun read with so many shenanigans. The aunties were great and funny and very protective towards Meddy. The story takes place in an island where a very lavish wedding is taking place. Nathan, the one that got away from Meddy is the hotel owner. One big snag..Meddy accidently killed someone and the aunties are trying to help. So many funny moments in this book that you just got to read it great read.

Wanna cry bursting out laughing before says goodbye to 2021? What are you waiting for, drop what you're doing and read Dial A for Aunties.

I extremely enjoyed this book freaking much. I love the story and the characters—Meddy, the Aunties and Nathan. This is a murder mystery with amusing comedy, striking family drama and a soothing romance at the top genre

Definitely a page turning plot twist. To read the following chapter and figuring out what chaotic things and discourses they about to take was ridiculously exciting.No dull moment from the first 'til last page even though there's a corpse attending a wedding ceremony. (dito ako kinabag kakapigil ng tawa 🤣)

And the banters with mockery and sarcasm to each and one other of the Aunties, Meddy as referee between them was entertaining.. (P.s try to listen in an Audiobook to experience the excitement of rambling. And the accent of the aunties, grabe feeling ko nasa Binondo/China town ako bumibili ng tabo at tikoy 👍)

I would love to spoil how pretty good was this, but the book is absolutely amazing that everyone must discover for themselves.
