I'm happy to help! I read a crapton of Miraculous fics so I can help. I'm glad you specified Chloe fics because well, I need something to go off of.

Oh yeah, it probably goes without saying if you know me at all, but none of these fics will demonize Alya, Adrien, the class, any of that sort. I don't tolerate those fics.

So first of all, @generalluxun really likes to write Chloe fics, so looking through his AO3 page is probably a good idea. I Won't Let You, which is a one-shot of Felix and Chloe talking at the Hawkmoth defeat party, empathizing with each other's circumstances, is a particular favorite of mine, if you want a taste.

Now onto the rest of the fic recs!

Beelya where Queen Bee visits the Césaire house after Alya writes an article about her fighting Mr. Pigeon alone. Normally Chloé would like the publicity but Alya had titled it ‘The Birds and the Bees’. After that she ends up coming back to complain about her mother. And her father. And about the fact that her oldest friend seems uncomfortable around her. Her visits becomes weekly, then almost nightly. (Don’t forget to include Chloé redemption (and some “Bee Movie” jokes).) * Alya isn’t quite sure how she ended up here, in a place where she isn’t even surprised Chloé would seek her out to talk about her dad, where she wouldn’t even mind her doing so, where she would expect it, where she would– (–thud. She might be in trouble.)

I loved seeing Alya's and Chloe's relationship grow and change through the years here, becoming closer and trusting each other more!

Chloe gets up late at night. Turns out she’s not the only one who’s worried about Pollen. (AU where former Miraculous holders have an empathetic link with their kwamis)

This one's really short, but I love Zoe and Chloe comforting each other, since they can both feel what Pollen's going through at Monarch's hands over the link.

This one's great for seeing how Adrien's and Chloe's relationship in particular has changed over the years, though Felix is involved a lot as well.

Chloé has never been a fan of Ms. Bustier’s community building activities. In fact, she detests them. She doesn’t want to learn about the drab boring lives of her peers. And she absolutely can’t stand it when their confessions make her feel things. Feelings that she doesn’t even have names for. But when Adrien unknowingly shares his struggles with his double life, Chloé vows she will do anything to get Ladybug to set things right. Even if it means pissing off the heroine. Chloé was already mad at her anyway.

I love this, everyone sits down in a circle and talks about their feelings and problems and work on making things BETTER, on healing and fixing things.

This last one is a special treat, it's one of the best Miraculous fics I've ever read (and that is saying a LOT).

Hold Me By Both Hands by @angelofthequeers

“I know he said never to take you back,” Plagg mutters. “But he’d change his tune if he knew.” He looks Adrien straight in the eye and, more serious than Adrien’s ever seen him before, says, “There’s someone you gotta meet. He’s been looking for that book for ages.” How differently might the events of season 2 have gone if Adrien had also known of Master Fu from the start?

This is a rewrite of seasons 2 and 3, with Lila being active and sneakier, Adrien not being left in the dark, and everyone talking things out a lot more. I ADORE the interweaving plot threads of this fic, it's fairly episodic in nature and it packs a lot into its word count.

The single best plotline it has, and the one that shoots it up to the top of my list of best ML fics, is its Chloe Redemption plotline.

Basically, Adrien says he won't be friends with Chloe unless she starts treating people decently, and so, taking this to heart, she goes looking for help in learning how to do that because well, she doesn't want to lose Adrien. So naturally, she goes to Marinette.

Marinette helps, but there are no shortcuts here. If you've seen The Good Place, Chloe's character arc here is a lot like Eleanor's was there, with her not only needing to learn how to be nicer to people, but t find reasons to WANT to be a better person, outside of simply wanting to avoid a bad outcome. I literally wrote an essay about Chloe's character development in this fic, THAT'S how much I loved it.

Akumatised (minor season 5 spoilers)

(AU- Marinette is akumatised. Snippet for an idea) (1174 words)

There’s a rap on the glass of his window and all it takes is for him to see red to lower the pane on the control console. Ladybug drops down, landing heavier than usual and darts to his side, putting herself between him and the open window.

“Ladybug?”

“No, Scarabella. Ladybug’s… busy.” She responds. As she says it his eyes adapt to the darkness to see the differences between them. She’s broader and darker, built more to use her fists than to weave through air. She puts them up, shifting anxiously on her feet as her eyes remain trained on the window.

“What are you waiting for?

A figure flits past just as the words leave his mouth. His stomach drops, realising he’s pinned behind Scarabella and he can’t run off to transform. He has to face whatever she’s so fearful will reach him.

The figure flies past again, this time stopping outside his room. It perches there, head twitching and cocking to the side and then crawls in.

Adrien scoots further behind Scarabella.

“Marinette, stop playing around!” Scarabella calls out. She drops down from the window, collapsing into a heap that’s overcome with shadows. Then she rebuilds herself, a white grin visible through unnatural darkness.

She steps out of the shadow, her skin pallor and her face twisted into something evil. Her eyes are shrouded in darkness that seems to ebb and flow further down her body. She’s somewhere between goddess and demon and it's perhaps the fact he can’t tell that scares him most.

“What happened to her?” He’s shouting when everything is silent. Marinette, or whoever she’s become, edges closer and Scarabella moves back.

“She got akumatised. I need you to talk to her. Convince her to reject it.”

There’s pain in Scarabella’s voice, cracks in its walls because she’s already worn it thin. She needs his voice now.

He hates himself for not knowing Marinette was in pain. Hates himself for finding stones in his throat when he tries to speak. He’d seen her that morning. She was waiting on the footpath at school. She smiled and she said. “I love you, you know.”

“What?” He’d laughed. She’d taken his hand in hers and kissed his cheek. They walked, her head on his shoulder and their hands firmly clasped. He felt her breathe.

“I’d never hurt you.”

“Mari-.”

She turns her head to him. “Adrien, darling. Come out from behind this big meanie.”

“Marinette, what happened?”

“It’s Justicia but I’ll let that slide. And I got better, baby, so come out and join me so I can judge you real quick.”

“Don’t.” Scarabella’s hand shoots out. “He can talk from here.”

Marinette turns her head to the side. She doesn’t have eyes but he knows how they probably look right now. Sort of puzzled and squinted. It's how she looks at a problem. She’s still but it's obvious from her straight fists at her side that she wants to move but moving will set Scarabella off. She’s trying to figure out how to get what she wants without fighting.

Another akuma wouldn’t be debating such a thing. She’s still in there.

“Mar- Justicia, you’ll never hurt me remember? You can fight this.”

“Why would I fight this? I can help people. I can help you.” She steps forward, then back and he can see her fighting but he doesn’t know what. He doesn’t know what she’s thinking. Not anymore. This isn’t Marinette, he can’t let himself think it is. He won’t be able to save her.

“Scarabella, move. I need to see her properly.”

“I can’t do that.” She looks back at him and he sees her tears. Her round brown eyes are murky with saline, her lower lip clenched like a purse, trembling like it held back rivers. Her hands held back Justicia still. It hit him, right then why it was Scarabella not Ladybug.

“Scarabella, why isn’t Ladybug here?”

“I told you, she’s busy.”

Her eyes betray her. Alya always had a problem with staring. She’ll keep your secrets but her eyes wander.

“She’s ‘busy’ then. I need to see her, Alya.”

Alya stares with her big brown eyes and deflates. All the ladybug bravado just drops to her knees and she buckles.

“Aw, fuck nuggets. You figured it out.” She whispers it, keeping her eyes wary of Justicia. It's open now between her and him but Justicia still doesn’t move.

“Yeah.”

“I need you to get her back. Get Ladybug back because I’m not cut out for this. Chat Noir isn’t answering my calls and figures Nettie’ would make a mean akuma. Girls got shit bottled up for days.”

He wants to say ‘I’m right here’ but it can only be assumed Monarch’s listening in. No need to reveal everything right now.

“Justicia, I need you to fight this. You don’t want this. Marinette doesn’t want this.”

Justicia extends her hand, dropping a disc like her yo-yo from her hand. Her attention is on it as it swings. It's almost like she can’t hear him.

It zips back into her hand and she looks up with a grin.

“Guess your heart is good then, pretty boy. Wanna be saved?”

“From what? It’s you who needs to be saved.”

Justicia shakes her head, giggling. Her tongue is black.

“Of course you need to be saved, Adrien.” Her voice is all sing-songy and caramel until it isn’t anymore. “You live in a hole! The only good thing in your life is getting taken away. He’s taking you from me, Adrien, don’t you see? Let me fix this, let me stop him.”

“This isn’t the way. Is this why you’re upset? You know I don’t have a choice.”

“You aren’t listening!” Her body jolts forward, her hands reaching for him. She wails and drops to the floor. “You aren’t listening. I’m not mad because you're leaving. It’s not your fault. It’s Gabriel’s. Let me stop him. Let me kill him.”

She seizes on the ground. She’s in pain and there’s nothing he can do. He’s half-way to her when she stands suddenly. “If you aren’t going to let me help you then I have to go. Please reconsider, I’ll only ask once. I don’t want to have to go against you.”

“Marinette.”

“Please.”

He bites his lip and shakes his head. It’s killing him to say no because it’s killing her that he is. But this isn’t Marinette and he can’t afford to think that way.

She leaves, zipping out the window. Alya turns to him as she prepares to follow.

“Hang tight. Chat Noir will be here soon, he might be able to get through to her. If not, I'll need his help to fight her. I won’t let him find out her identity, don’t worry. It’s bad enough you know, Marinette didn’t want any of this.”

He nods, moving back to let her catch up when a thought strikes him.

“How did you get her miraculous?”

Alya pales. She tugs on her yo-yo string and zips away. “Sorryyyyy-.”

(AU- Marinette is akumatised..... on purpose)

So YAY this is the idea I came up with for an akumatised marinette. She and Alya come up with a hairbrain scheme for her to get akumatised on purpose in order to use the power against Monarch. I'm headcanoning that the magic identity shield applies to thoughts too so Monarch can't read the bit about Marinette being Ladybug as long as she hasn't renounced the miraculous. If she loudly declares it of course he'll find out.

But then Monarch gets his grimy manipulative fingers in her brain so it isn't as easy as the girls planned. He can tell she really wants to save people (just not why) but bad people keep trying to ruin everything. He gives her the power to save everyone, as long as her scales decide they are worthy.

Wanted to write a salt free akumanette because while sometimes character actions make me want to bash them over the head, I think its important to write a non-salt akuma fic to keep everything interesting.

Marinette: Breathing style: Life breathing (derived from Flower and Love breathing). Allows for graceful movements and allows the user to take in all of the area to help synchronize themself with nature.

Alya: Breathing style: Mirage breathing (derived from mist breathing and Flame breathing). Flashy and focused on misdirection. A style that makes the opponent misread movements and even tricks foes with afterimages

Nino: Breathing style: Bubble breathing (derived from mist and wind breathing) Mainly defensive style that’s meant more for protecting others than slaying demons. Said to be the best defensive style.

Luka: Breathing style: Music breathing (derived from Sound breathing)

Kagami: Breathing style: Dragon breathing (derived from Water, Wind, and Thunder style breathing)

Alix: Breathing style: Time breathing: (a derivative of thunder breathing) focused on speed, allows the user to slow the world around them in order to move and process information.

Chat noir: Blood art: Destructive aura. A blood art that let’s chat noir destroy anything he touches with his aura, even Nichirin blades. He can coat his entire body in the aura. The effects Even impact other demons, messing up their healing factor. His strength and potential are said to be comparable to that of an upper moon despite the fact that he is only half demon

A. Agreste (aka Chat Noir) Headcanons <3

Kind of a lot tbh—just headcanons that I like to apply in my AUs when they don’t clash with their particular premises. It’s just a hot mess under the cut yeah? Cool.

He was actually in ballet classes as a kid—the same ones as Chloé.

What’s funny is that Marinette was there too. However, boys and girls were kept separate and so he only really knew Chloé.

He only found out when he was going through his closet and found a shoe box with his old shoes and a bunch of class photos; he noticed Marinette in the corner of one.

He’s still really flexible though.

He actually used to go to see a live rendition of The Nutcracker each Christmas.

He wanted to play the Rat King rlly badly.

He’s got a killer steady hand that makes for rlly good cursive.

He has the neatest handwriting in the class, and takes rlly good notes too—particularly in physics.

He’s also got terrible sense in fashion. He knows good stuff when he sees it, but doesn’t know bad stuff is bad at all.

He really likes milk; in some horrible twist of fate, he’s also lactose intolerant.

He’s totally touch starved and rlly touchy feely w/ certain people.

He refuses to kill bugs. He once screamed and lifted Alya up off her feet for trying to squash a spider in the middle of science class.

He put it in a cup before disappearing for a good five minutes so he could walk all the way over to the park to release it where it would be safe.

He’s English and French.

He really likes gelato—specifically passionfruit; peach is a close second tho.

He knows how to run in heels; has a subtly burning hatred for them.

He really likes light up sneakers though and always wanted a pair.

He knows Morse code.

Rlly ticklish.

Sneezes super loudly.

Really crappy immune system thanks to never being allowed outside his castle walls; he got sick like three times within the first two months of school.

He really likes Piano Man by Billy Joel and can sing and play the whole thing.

Honestly his music taste consists of five types of music: Heavy/classic rock, classical/classical-style music (In The Hall of The Mountain King slaps ok), Billy Joel, chill-somber-sad-theatric-feels-y, and whatever the heck that migraine-inducing bs he’s got stashed in the back is.

His Spotify is a hot mess tbch; lots of spontaneous playlists depending on how he felt at the moment. The titles are usually smth along the lines of “ifykyk”, “vibe”, or “yeah”; either that or just the playlist #.

He has like five that are nice enough to send ppl, and those are the only ones he’s listened to more than twice. They’re called “Classical Vibes”, “Cheese Demon”, “Billy Joel Aesthetic”, “sad”, and “Spontaneous 2am Dance Party OST”.

He’ll literally save recommended playlists and never listen to them.

He never bothers to clean it up though, and has 600+ playlists sitting around.

Also he used to drink a ton of pediasures as a kid and his father doesn’t let him drink them anymore bc he’s not a little kid anymore obviously but he would kill for a muscle milk.

He’ll throw up if he ever tries to eat kale again; it’s a trauma response ok.

Emotion smart but social dumb.

Honestly kinda yandere ngl.

I mean have you seen this man?? Cheez-its man, chill.

He resists when in civilian form but once he’s transformed it’s Full Gremlin Mode activated.

He’s not good at drawing but he does try; he does a lot of blob style digital and is slowly getting better.

He overcomes his feelings of being stuck and not knowing what to do in life as seen in wish maker when he spends time with the Dupain-Chengs and realizes that that is what he wants. He then dreams of working in the bakery one day.

Cannot for the life of him resist eating the batter, ok. He needs it. He’s gonna get heckin’ salmonella one of these days and it’s going to have been worth it.

He gets really good at frosting “flower” cupcakes. He switches to succulents pretty easily after learning how to airbrush. They’re adorable.

Also really good at modeling lil fondant animals and things.

He’s developed separation anxiety surrounding both ladybug and Marinette—he rlly just wants to have both of them in one place at once and he’s rlly sad that it somehow never seems to happen; he’s rlly happy post-reveal.

He rlly loves babysitting; like honestly he loves kids, so so so much; if he weren’t thinking of taking over the bakery (and/or tied down as Chat Noir), he’d probably become a pediatric nurse or a daycare attendant or smth bc 💞💞💞

He’ll leave the press to Ladybug so he can talk w/ the akuma victims and make sure they’re okay.

He’ll escape out his window and climb to high places when stressed to pace.

Once lost a Chat Noir look alike contest.

Has referred to his civilian self as, and I quote, a “dipshit boytoy” whilst en costume.

He became a total night owl thanks to his miraculous but he’s just rlly good at pretending to not be tired.

He’s more cat than he’d like to admit:

He’ll react to catnip when transformed;

He’ll also chase laser pointers;

He subconsciously stares at birds;

Once a bird got stuck in the classroom and everyone was freaking out trying to catch it in a wire trash bin and stuff but it kept evading them so Adrien looked up and pulled out his music, watched it for a second, and then caught it by the feet mid-flight;

He brought it closer to himself and calmed it down as best he could, petting it as he walked over to the window to let it out;

Everyone was flabbergasted but no one said anything as he went back to working and by the time anyone could speak it was kinda late for questions;

He gets the zoomies at the most inconvenient times;

He’s made incredibly uneasy by dogs despite actually being more of a dog person.

Also more destruction powers seeping in alongside the cat attributes:

When he’s is in a funk, there’s crappy cell service, lights flicker, machines go haywire and burn out;

If he’s REALLY upset, drinking glasses and crystal can spontaneously combust;

His powers trickle over into when he’s a civilian;

He just keeps getting more and more frustrated with his computer as it begins to function less and less and keeps giving increasingly worse error codes;

He’s in a funk for the first half the day at school and for some reason the wifi is down;

His mood is lifted after a good lunch break and all of a sudden the computers are working super fast;

Though it frustrates him at first, Adrien learns to hone his powers and either repress or, if needed, direct them.

Mouse of Perception. Let's get into this.

We start with the first of the little mice, Juleka Couffaine as Souris Blanche. In Miraculous AU, the mouse's powers fall into two. The lesser power of perception and the greater power of Bend, perception manipulation. Perception allows her to hear and see things from all over the city. It does result in sensory overload. Perception manipulation allows her to do a number of things. Manipulate people's perception to perceive her, create hallucinations akin to alternate realities, and manipulate other senses in people and the environment (sight, smell, sound, touch, time).

Activation Phrases

Transformation: "Mullo, Get Squeaky"

Lesser Power: Perception

Greater Power: Bend

Next we have Muridae, Alya Cesaire in Salvation. Her power would be perception as a holder, however, she is an avatar so it changes the playing field. Perception is constantly active as she always hears everything so she always suffers from sensory overload. She can still manipulate perception like Souris Blanche, but taken a step forward where she can manipulate the perception of time to a degree. With this ability, Muridae can slow time in an area but keeping it normal for herself, Quicksilver style. Her other ability is Clarity. This ability allows her to see through when she's being manipulated mentally and emotionally and to re stabilize herself to the correct, real reality.

When Avatar form is achieved, she gains access to two new powers. The first being Astral Vision, allowing her to see that which resides in the Unseen World (spirits, demons, angels, etc). The second is Divination, allowing her to divine the near events.

Activation Phrases

Transformation: None/Innate

Power: None/Innate

Here we have Absolution Juleka, Whisper. Her powers function similarly to Miraculous AU Souris Blanche, however with a slight modification. The passive power is the ability to hear everything and see past physical boundaries. Bend is her main power in this AU.

Activation Phrases

Transformation: "Mullo, Get Squeaky"

Power: Bend

Next is Gold Mouse, Alya Cesaire in Separate Worlds. In Separate Worlds, it's similar to Absolution with a passive and an active power. Perception is still the passive while Bend has been reigned in, allowing her to merely make herself imperceptible.

Activation Phrases

Transformation: "Mullo, Get Squeaky"

Power: None/Innate

And here we are at Paradise with Nathalie Sancoeur as Dragnet. It's here that the power of perception manipulation is dropped for the enhanced sense with a slight modification. Whereas most Mouse holders can't directly control or hone in on a specific thing, Dragnet will be able to. She can hear anywhere in the city, see through solid objects, and if need be, hone in on a specific person, place, or thing.

Activation Phrases

Transformation: "Mullo, Get Squeaky"

Power: Discern

Look who's back. Juleka is White Mouse in All That Remained. Her power will be the same as her main power in all other incarnations of the mouse with perception manipulation.

Activation Phrases

Transformation: "Mullo, Get Squeaky"

Power: Bend

Luka's turn of the Couffaine twins to have the mouse. His power falls in line with the other mice with perception manipulation.

I'll admit a Lila redemption isn't a bad idea on paper, but like with most Chloedemption AUs written by salters, it suffers the problem of having her be easily forgiven and/or demonizing other characters (especially Alya), just to make it work.

It's like salters are trying to subvert the salt Lila was getting, but instead just made a typical salt Chloedemption just replace Chloe with Lila.

Class of Heroes AU: More Headcanons!!!

As a treat, folks, after which I might be done for a few days. Unless I think of something I just HAVE to share, lol. Have some more Headcanons!

*Ondine is the youngest of seven daughters. Their names are Olivia, Ophelia, Octavia, Olga, Oona and Olympia.

*She and Kagami are in Mendeliev’s class (Yen Sid in this AU.) Her classmates, especially Denise and Aurore are protective of her because of her naïveté and lack of knowledge of the surface world. They and Kim have had to get her out of dangerous situations where her curiosity got the better of her.

*Kim was raised by his two mortal fathers after his uncle’s henchmen turned him into a mortal. (His biological parents are, of course, Zeus and Hera.) He buys them a huge house once he’s successful as a hero.

*Xuppu serves as Pegasus, but he actually likes Ondine because she’s just too darn sweet. He’s always nosing Kim out of the way to receive affection from her.

*Kim was NOT very well-liked back in his hometown for his lack of control over his strength. He was often shunned and called horrible names for the accidents he caused, as well as his lack of intellectual prowess. This, and his discovering his true heritage, was what made his fathers decide to send him to the school.

*In this AU, Kagami has three younger brothers: Daisuke, Daijiro, and Daiki. True to Brave, they are demon spawn. (Their father died in battle.)

*I’m changing something from a previous post: Plagg is still Mushu, but Tikki is now Cri Kee. She is silently judging you.

*Adrien does not fence in this AU. His preferred weapon is a certain cooking implement.

*Nino has a tendency to add ‘Bibbidi-Bobbidi’ before other B words. (“What a Bibbidi-Bobbidi bummer, bro!”) Some people think it’s funny, others find it annoying.

*Ivan has mild kyphosis(I had to look this up), which causes him to slightly hunch over and have mild to moderate back pain.

*Alya works jobs at diners before and after school to bring in extra money for her family. She is one of few students who work.

*Mylene has a habit of sometimes speaking in rhyme, especially when she’s really happy about something. Ivan thinks it’s very cute. (This is a nod to the original animated film.)

*He transferred to Francois Preparatory Academy from a prestigious tech institution after an…incident that he doesn’t like to talk about.

*Sabrina (Pinocchio) was part of a puppet show as a young child. She often has nightmares about the abuse she suffered there, and Aurore is needed to come comfort her.

*Cosette is incredibly close with the other four members of their band, sharing a sibling-like bond. It calls and face-times with them on a regular basis, and has introduced them to all of her new friends.

*When Lacey gets especially angry, her face turns bright red and she’ll launch into a rant in ‘fairy-speak’ (the squeaking noises that the humans hear in the TB movies). Her wings also start fluttering rapidly and she sometimes slams into the ceiling…

*When Marc was young, he accidentally struck his younger brother, Kiran, with his ice magic. Their mothers, the queens, didn’t blame him, but sadly they died in a shipwreck only a few months later. After that, the cruel royal advisor convinced Marc that he was a dangerous monster and isolated him from the kingdom and his brother.

*Zoé has a list of 65 different chores she has to do for Chloé each day. They eat up a lot of her time, but not as much since her friends started helping her. They’re working on convincing her to make Chloé do them herself.

*Denise prefers to sleep outside amongst the trees, because it reminds them of their stump back home. Simon brought them a pillow and a blanket one night because he was worried about them.

*When Reshma is agitated by something or someone, you can tell because poison ivy starts sprouting up around her feet.

*Bustier is still a suck-tastic teacher. She will scold Kim and Marinette harshly for damage they cause completely by accident (her clumsiness and his strength), she berates Ivan for bad posture despite it literally being a physical health condition, she frequently suggests that Adrien should cut his hair because it looks too feminine, she regularly threatens Alix with legal action for incidents with her kleptomania despite her almost always returning what she takes, she forces Juleka to sit in the back of the room and doesn’t often allow her to speak lest she ‘frighten’ other students, she has outright referred to Sabrina as an ‘it’ (meaning an object, a non-living piece of wood, not the pronouns, which are completely valid.) and a ‘toy’ rather than a girl, and of course, she lets Chloé get away with everything.

I’m looking for ideas for Lila and Felix, baddie and anti-hero respectively, as well as a fitting new name for Mor’du. Be sure to check out my poll about Chloé!

Hey! I've been loving your Chloé/Alya AU story as well as enjoying your posts a lot in general, I'll be reading Dog Daze too when I can because it seems like it's your "main story" and I'm curious about the dynamics of Adrien/Sabrina as a ship (which I hadn't thought of before seeing your blog!) - I also just enjoy the way you write the characters a lot, especially because you're both a Chloé defender and a gay Chloé enthusiast like me lol. And your dunking on Astruc is delicious too, of course! Do you have any upcoming fics/vague ideas you've been considering that you feel comfortable sharing?

Thanks for the question and for your followup clarification, I'll answer both parts here.

First off: Thank you for reading! The Chloé/Alya fic was an experiment, and a bit of a gift to @flightfoot who is a big Alya fan, and a treasure to the community. I've come to love the dynamic as I've explored it.

Dog Daze is the largest AU, yes. Chock full of one shots after the main fic. It *Does* start with Puppy Love, which was supposed to be a one shot, then oops, I had an AU. Fin fact:Dog Daze was supposed to be endgame Adrienette, but the goobers just didn't want to let each other go. Oops. 🤣

Adribrina is my comfort ship. They are just so... 🥺 It's sweet, it's gentle, it's supportive, and they don't even realize it.

I wouldn't call myself a Chloé defender. I just don't like anything that belittles/justifies/ignores choild abuse. Chloé happens to be an abused child blamed for her own abuse by the narrative. I fond that particular aspect of ML reprehensible and so am vocal about it. If they had just left her as a 1D bully the entire time, it wouldn't be an issue. Once you demonstrate child abuse *on screen* then certain expectations change.

I do think Chloé as a character is in an amazingly dynamic position, teetering and able to go in many directions. This is why she features so much in my writings.

As you said in your followup, I do put Chloé in both het and lesbian ships(even some bi) for me, her attraction has a lot more to do with the person *giving her attention* and the plumbing is actually largely secondary. Not knocking anyone else's headcanon, that's just my take on her.

I don't set out to 'dunl' on Astruc, bit he has positioned himself as the voice/aithority/control so questionable narrative lands in his lap. He also seems to be ill suited to engaging on online discourse (no slight there, it can be hard!) But also seems to want to enjoy the access to praise it offers. This makes for a volatile mess. In all honesty I would love a chance to corner him and just ask 'why' for a lot of choices. I do fear though many of hos answers would boil down to 'Who do you listen to, me, or your lying eyes?'

I was thinking of actually doing a LoZ TotK fic in the near future.

If ML there are cirrently 3 options spinning.

1)Continue Dog Daze Continuity with a story set in the final year before university and bringing Kagami back into the mix.

2)Continue Gothic AU continuity with a story focusing on Adrien's acquiring of the Pig, and Sabrina's akumatization with the Goat while continuing to explore the other dynamics (like Ladybug/Peluche and Chloé reason for being... Lile she is)

3)Chloé comes back worse. Post S5 fic where Chloé is actually putting in effort to be a chaos demon, not just other people's pawn.

Vampire AU - The Main Group

Marinette Dupain-Cheng

Still a klutz and a dork even as a blood-sucking creature of the night. She tries to be intimidating, but is usually seen as too adorable (the only one cuter than her is Rose.)

Dreams of turning Chloe and Lila into her mind controlled servants as revenge for their torment of the other human students. Also wants to turn Adrien into a vampire so he’ll live as long as them.

Nathaniel Kurtzberg

An artist who uses blood for his paint.

Even though he dresses like a classical vampire, he’s a Twilight fan. Marc’s a huge fan of Bela Lugosi.

Marc Anciel

A shy and nervous vampire who writes eerie tales for his classmates.

He’s written many songs of angst or joy of his love for his boyfriend, Nathaniel. You can find him and Juleka playing spooky songs on the pipe organ, and laughing like maniacs.

Juleka Couffaine

A eerie and gothic girl who can be kind to her friends, yet terrifying to her enemies.

She’s actually a major shy dork when arround her family and when she gets embarassed.

Rose Lavillant

A peppy and cheerful girl, with an attitude so bright for a girl who hates the sun.

She’s the vampire that works best with kids, acting as the spooky yet loveable vampire that’ll protect children from the bad guys.

Alix Kubdel

A rebellious tomboy with a love for pranks and dares. Uses her vampiric skills to mess with Kim.

Due to being the shortest of the group, she uses hypnosis and trickery to strike fear into the hearts of her victims.

Various Facts

They all love to wear cloaks! They often give each other cloak hugs, where they smother each other in their capes.

A year in a monster’s life is 12 years for a human. This means that the group are 14 in monster years, but 168 in human years.

They only suck the blood of criminals, animals, and people who have harmed them. Though they still love to playfully scare the citizens of Paris as well as their classmates.

They hangout in a huge creepy castle, but they all live close by in seperate homes. They plan on buying the castle after graduation, and moving in together.

The sun doesn’t kill them, but it burns their skin and generally hurts pretty bad. Umbrellas and sunscreen usually do the trick.

They’re great friends with the demonic Alya, a gorgon named Mylene, and a golem named Ivan, who chose to accompany the vampires when they chose to attend DuPont. These monsters use glamor to appear human to other students.

Juleka has a lovely relationship with her vampiric parents, as the blood-suckers always planned on staying together while having kids. The Couffaine vampires love to rock out and hunt for blood together.

They can shapeshift into small bats, if they want to spy on people without being seen.

The Dupain-Cheng’s bakery has been around for generations, with Tom and Sabine switching up their looks in order to convince people that they aren’t immortal. Jagged Stone is an incredibly famous rockstar, while Anarka is a vampiric pirate. Nathaniel and Marc have made money over the years writing and painting works of art. Rose has been spotted and known as the “Charity Girl” for appearing at various charities over the years while Alix and her family are known for showing up at various points in history.

Butterfly effect of the Reversal Salt AU

First thing first, I'm not bashing Adrien, Marinette, or anyone. However, the narrative is mostly from Lila's POV so, of course, she'd throw insults like candy, undermine everyone's worth (such as calling them by a superficial attribute instead of their names), and exaggerate their flaws.

On a related note. ML's characters are flawed. Marinette has creepy stalker tendencies, Chat Noir is a dogged nice guy, the class takes advantage of Marinette (even if unwittingly), and Mme. Bustier is an enabler for bullying. I'm not willing to overlook those flaws but seeing most of the characters are teenagers, I think they have room to grow and all of them deserve a chance for redemption. Yes, even Lila, loath as I am to say it. Most of the kids have also virtues worth of notice.

Secondly, this is a writing prompt. After reading too many Lila Salt Fics and a Lilanette one I stumbled upon by accident, my brain decided to wonder how would a Salt Fic be if Marinette and Adrien's roles were reversed.

For want of a nail (i.e., transferring six months later in the year), Lila has set her sights on budding fashion designer Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Because Marinette is infatuated by Adrien Agreste, Lila needs to get him out of the way. As a result, she plans on ostracizing him from the class and demonizing him so Marinette would lose interest. Lila's actions have some unexpected positive side effects. She's possessive, so everything Marinette does has to be to Lila's benefit which leads Lila to shame the classmates on how much they take Marinette for granted. Whether Lila successfully traps Marinette in an abusive romantic relationship it's up to whoever wants to continue this thing. More impactful is the fact Lila was never akumatized into Volpina or Chameleon, thus preventing Heroes' Day from happening. This means that Hawk Moth achieved the mass akumatization and discovered the temporary heroes' identities in another way or didn't do it at all. Another ripple effect is Lila getting a Miraculous by virtue of being on Ladybug's good side. I don't think Rena Rouge will be replaced, so no Volpina, but I'm betting she gets one of the Zodiac Miraculous or the Peacock if the heroes manage to retrieve it from Mayura.

In spite of a nail, Lila still eventually associates with Gabriel Agreste to manipulate his son into doing her bidding. And I can assure you she's still the cause of several akumas (the shaming part). She will still wrap Damoclès and Bustier around her little finger by claiming she's being bullied by a fellow student. Furthermore, it's still well in the realm of possibility Lila gets akumatized at some point. The girl' still has a penchant for holding petty grudges, so it's bound to happen. Maybe she does get turned into Volpina or Chameleon, but it will be later and in different circumstances. "The Collector" still happens more or less the same as Gabriel will akumatize himself to retrieve the Grimoire and get the heroes off of his trail, though there's the chance the middlewoman (Ladybug) is cut and Chat Noir gives the book directly to Master Fu, causing him to meet the guardian. Will that make Adrien a more responsible hero and prevent his tantrums from being locked out of the loop? It depends. If somehow Ladybug and Chat Noir go together, Ladybug will still be Fu's successor but Chat Noir will know more things from the get-go. If it's only him, either the guardian contacts Marinette later or starts training Adrien. Keep in mind, though, that his packed schedule won't allow him to visit Fu as frequently as Canon!Marinette could.

Whether she starts working for Hawk Moth is uncertain, though. It depends on your take on this prompt so nails don't have a say in this matter. Or not an obvious one, at least.

In the third place, this is a writing prompt and, as such, people have utter freedom to make of it what they want. Wanna bash the hell out of Adrien? Of Alya? Mme. Bustier? Chloé? Even Marinette? Go on. I think the kids can grow into better people, but if other writers disagree, have different stories in mind, or are simply salty over someone, I won't be the one to put limits to their creativity and desires. The same applies to whomever you choose to redeem. That's why I left it very ambiguous throughout the prompt on whether Chloé is working towards her Redemption or following her canonical Damnation. She defends Ladybug because she loves the heroine, she snickers when Alya has to change seats because she feels vindicated ("Origins" episode), and she stands for Adrien because he's her childhood friend. In the former case, both the vindication and the insults are little steps backward, especially considering Chloé knows how much Adrien fears conflict (he won't and doesn't defend himself that much).

Having said that, for all I respect freedom of speech, that doesn't mean I'll condone or agree with everything people write inspired on this prompt. Have fun, but it's not my responsibility if we end up with a "Dead Dove: Don't Eat" kind of fic, okay?

Fourth, here are some of my ideas about this Reversal Salt AU.

Lila's mother, here dubbed as Signora Rossi (Signora means Mrs. in Italian), is not an abusive parent but possibly a slightly neglectful one. That doesn't mean she's a bad person or that she loves her daughter any less. It just means she's caught up in a very demanding job either because she's ambitious and wants to succeed in her work field (which is fine) or because she's a single mother and thus is stretching herself thin to fulfill her daughter's physical and emotional needs. Or maybe she just wants to believe the best of her daughter and turns a blind eye to Lila's misdeeds. Despite that, she's caring and loving. I'm not keen on demonizing Signora Rossi because of these reasons but it is clear she ought to pay a little bit more attention to what her daughter is up to and is likely she for some reason failed to instill integrity in kid!Lila. An excellent take on this matter can be found in this fanfic: "A mother's love".

On the other hand, it's also entirely possible Lila was born a psychopath. I've been researching and some psychologists hold that a sociopath is made through trauma and a psychopath is born, but the result is the same anti-social tendencies. Though if you want to make her a sociopath and give her a traumatic past, go on. Canon!Lila not only scores high in psychopathy but also Machiavellism and Narcissism.

In regards to her other parent, I left their gender ambiguous because there are some fan theories that Lila has two mothers. Or it's maybe just an animation error, but I don't like to throw the chance out of the window. Now, in the case it wasn't a mistake, both mothers are what I described a paragraph ago but fanfiction exists to explore different scenarios anyway, so... Maybe this other parent influenced Lila to become who she is now.

About Adrien. As I said above, the kid does have some nasty flaws. What he does to Ladybug at the very least verges on sexual harassment and he's proven to be manipulative (throwing tantrums when rejected). In this AU, said flaws are at play as much as Marinette's flaws were in canon. She partially misused her powers out of jealousy (partially because she had a point in that Lila was making herself a target) and her reasons to eavesdrop on Lila and Adrien are definitely not pure. Here, it's her tendency to obsess over and idealize her crush what is going to be her downfall. I'm not victim-blaming, but abusers prey on their victim's weaknesses and those just happen to be Marinette's. And that's not counting how Marinette's yearn for control was aggravated since the "Chat Blanc" incident (it happens later, but the base is already there). Nonetheless, I'm of the idea that Lila opened Marinette's eyes a little when she attacked her crush on Adrien (like pointing out being a stalker is not healthy) and that's going to bite her in the ass later on. Marinette being a doormat to her friends is more tricky since Lila made it as to ensure Marinette will remain a doormat to her but not anyone else. It's workable when the time to heal comes.

By contrast, Adrien's doormat policies, pushiness, obliviousness, and social ineptitude are still going to be rocks in his path. He's now crossed at Lila for several reasons. The obvious is her "bad-mouthing" Chat Noir, but there's more. Up to this point, Lila has consistently stirred trouble in the classroom, menacing the peace he values so much. It's Lila's fault (or that's how he sees it) Marinette is "abandoning" her friends and being "mean" to them. His upbringing has left him rather unable to understand that kindness is not a synonym of "absolutely catering to someone's wishes" (as he often does with Chloé and always with his father) and that this behavior is not healthy. His obliviousness comes into play in regards to just how much Marinette means to him (platonically or romantically). Lila has been monopolizing Marinette all to herself even when the class hangs out as a group, which severely cuts the already scarce time the two interact. He's jealous without being aware of it. It doesn't help how touchy-feely Lila and Marinette are because it sometimes causes discomfort to the latter, which Adrien picks up and not only notices Lila's hypocrisy but also rubs him in the wrong way as it mirrors his behavior as Chat Noir. Now, don't get me wrong, the least he wanted was to cause a scene but couldn't help but glare and Lila capitalized on that.

What does Lila think of Ladybug? "Volpina" never happened and this Lila only intended on pursuing Adrien before discovering Marinette's promising career, so neither hates the other one nor harbors a grudge. In fact, I doubt this AU would last much if that were the case. I left open the possibility of Lila being the anti-Chloé (hates Ladybug, loves Marinette) with that part of suspecting Marinette is crushing on Ladybug (*laughs in Plagg*), but I have to note that the hatred cannot be mutual for this to work. Canon!Lila loathes Chat Noir and it's likely that will remain the same, just less vocal (Marinette admires Ladybug and has a way of contacting the heroine, so Lila won't bad-mouth Chat Noir in front of Ladybug).

What roles would Luka and Kagami play in this AU? Obviously, the love-dodecaedron has shifted. There are at least three people after Marinette/Ladybug's affections: Chat Noir, Luka, and Lila. And whoever you ship Marinette with. And, now, there are only two girls wanting to date Adrien/Chat Noir: Kagami and Marinette. Chloé is uncertain because it was stated at some point she wasn't in love with Adrien, she was just possessive for some reason (fanon says it was to protect him from fangirls and fanboys). One possible scenario in this AU is that Marinette's feelings towards Adrien fade for the most part (maybe they will resurge later or shift to return Chat Noir's), depending on how efficient you want to portray Lila. Getting back to the point, Luka still has a crush on Marinette as revealed in "Silencer" and Kagami on Adrien but the events of "Oni-chan" developed differently and it's as equally possible that she confessed her crush on him/was akumatized than it hasn't happened yet. If Lila somehow catches wind of Kagami's crush, she will set the two up to force Marinette to move on. She might even encourage Marinette and Kagami's friendship to bind Marinette to obey the girl code and support Kagami. If she learns of Luka's crush, then she'll either play the card that "he's too old for Marinette" (if we disregard the retcon) or try to exclude him from the class' activities. Taking more extreme measures will tip Marinette off of Lila's true nature. As I side note: I like this more than canon because I'm TIRED of watching four girls fighting over a guy.

How will Alya and Nino react? Without the jealousy component, what are the grounds to dismiss his warnings? Well, Adrien still takes the high road so he won't publicly confront Lila on her manipulations. He dreads conflict too much and if he finally does it, it will be too late — either Lilanette is official or everyone else believes so, therefore the class will be prone to believe Adrien is jealous. The lack of public accusations also rob Lila of one of her primary strategies: turn on the waterworks. Consequently, everything will be much more underhanded. Lila's association with Gabriel will result in Adrien spending far less time with his friends and maybe even pulling the same stunt of threatening them in the hopes of creating powerful akumas (again, "Chat Blanc" episode). But I digress, Lila will relentlessly target Alya and Adrien for supporting LadyNoir. Maybe Alya will learn her lesson but as Adrien already sees Lila in a bad light, he will take longer to budge or won't do it at all. Nino will try to change Adrien's opinion and that'll cause a gap between the two. Nino is very laidback, so he won't push as much but will be vulnerable to Lila's poisoning. Alya will remain Marinette's friend but butt heads with Lila as the latter tries to correct her occasional forcefulness. Marinette will intervene and either Alya regards Lila in a positive light because she did help Marinette (in a sense) or by holding onto her stubbornness will have a fallout with Lila and seek flaws on her. All in all, Alya and Nino's behavior are wildly variable. The only secure thing is that Lila is as capable as in canon of swaying them to her favor and making them unwittingly throw a friend under the bus, just in a different way.

I don't know if you've noticed but there's a theme about how holding onto flaws can sometimes yield positive results, often aided by virtues. In canon, it was how holding onto virtues can sometimes yield negative results, often exacerbated by flaws. Marinette's hatred of liars and loyalty to her friends are virtues but landed her on a bully's bad side and got isolated. Her jealousy and stalker tendencies (both flaws) didn't help matters at all. Meanwhile, Adrien's desire to see the best in everyone and give second chances are virtues but they made him act in the wrong way and fail to support a friend. His learned fear of conflict and submissiveness only made things worse. Lila has the virtue of being charming (for the wrong reasons, but still) and knowing her way with people which would turn her into a fine leader. Yet, she causes mayhem and destroys people's lives by using those virtues along with her fatal flaws — narcissism and vindictiveness.

In the Reversal Salt AU, however, most of the positive results stem from holding onto one's flaws. If Alya remains stubborn, she eventually learns Lila's nature aided by her reporter abilities and determination. If Marinette refuses to let go of her obsessiveness and refuses to think the worse of her friends, she forces Lila to ditch subtlety and thus expose herself. If Adrien continues walking the high road and keeps being nice, he provides Lila with far less ammunition against him. Nino has proved to be distrustful (dismissing Marinette in the Lila ordeal and believing Alya is two-timing him in "Rocketear") and if he does that here, he'll catch on to Lila's manipulations and even call her out given his outgoing nature.

This brief interpretation is merely a suggestion and, again, you are not obliged to use it as the central theme of your story. Personally, I'd use the whole "holding onto flaws gets better results" as a temptation in the characters' arcs whereas the "working on my flaws unwittingly aids the villain" as an angst-fuel when the characters learn of Lila's manipulations. One of the traits of an abusive relationship (romantic or otherwise) is how much the victim struggles to stop believing their abuser's words. Nobody is always wrong, so if my abuser was right about/helped me with this thing, would they be right about/had helped with this other one? Often, it comes down to finding a balance: you keep whatever good things you got from the relationship while discarding the harmful ones. Naturally, this is a lengthy, stressful process that Lila can very well exploit to blackmail her victims, make them second-guess themselves, or just make them miserable.

Last but not least, I want to comment on two Lila Salt Fics that depict similar ideas, although I only found them after crafting this AU. Little spoilers warning about them. The first is "Liar's New BFF" and delves into the idea of Lila being the anti-Chloé. After having her lies exposed at the end of "Volpina", she starts regarding the classmates as vermin and genuinely falls in love with Marinette because of her kindness. She then proceeds to create a riff between Marinette and them by pointing out how much they take advantage of her. In this case, Lila is partially redeemed and doesn't seem to hold a particular grudge against Adrien. The Reversal Salt AU can follow a similar path if you want to, but the idea is to not shy away from Lila's many shortcomings as a human being and how that would affect Marinette and Adrien in an alternate scenario.

The other is "Jerk in Sheep's Clothing", where Lila's spear counterpart, called Henri, acts pretty much as I described Reversal Salt!Lila. He gets infatuated by Marinette and after threatening Lila, makes a deal with her so it's easier for both to accomplish their goals (Lila: get Adrien and be popular, Henri: get Marinette all for himself). He exploits Marinette's broken trust in the classmates to bully them and get away with it, collaborates with Hawk Moth at some point, and even gets a Miraculous. The difference between them is that Reversal Salt!Lila doesn't have the benefit of Marinette being emotionally vulnerable due to Canon!Lila's bullying, nor her faith in her friends is weakened. This means this AU's Lila must resource to more deceptive tactics to get what she wants (she can't blatantly lie).
