Anything’s Possible

Finally, here is my contribution to @hp-12monthsofmagic 12 month challenge!

I actually had planned something completely different, but the idea for this short story came to me spontaneously, which is also the finale to the story from me and @whatwouldvalerydo about our HPMA Ship Phil and Scarlett!

Little Reminder: Phil had a drunken One Night stand with a unknown Hufflepuff Girl, who then brags about it and wanted to make Scarlett jealous.

But who thought Phil would react like this? He shows a new side of himself. Well..anything is possible.

3 weeks have passed since the incident with Phil and the Hufflepuff girl. Scarlett wanted a duel after they met, but thank God Phil dissuaded her.

Everything seemed to be going as usual and the whispering about Phil slowly diminished. Much to Phil's relief. He tried to hide it, but the rumors about him bothered him more than he initially thought. Most just giggled, a few snapped a few jokes. Phil didn't care. Worse were those who now thought they should approach Phil, ask him out, or ask straight out for details. Phil wasn't used to this kind of attention and he didn't like it either. So he had decided to wear flashy cosplays to the next Quidditch matches (much to the chagrin of Rory and Reva, who had to help him with crafts in the Gryffindor common room on several occasions). When Phil commented on the Darth Maul cosplay at the penultimate game of the season, he was definitely that weird nerd that people prefer to avoid again. And he preferred it that way. In this role he felt comfortable.

But one person didn't give up. The girl, whose name Phil still didn't know (he didn't even care anymore), kept telling about how she seduced the Quidditch commentator and how Scarlett threatened her afterwards. Most of it was made up for it and the friends had their hands full trying to keep Scarlett from going after the girl.

It was one of the nicer days and Phil was sitting in the courtyard in the blazing sun. Reva mumbled something about "getting some color" and ignored Phil's argument with an air of posh pallor. So Phil let the sun in for 10 minutes before going back to his room. He has yet to finish the secret project…. Reva watched her mate from a shady spot and looked like she was about to fall asleep again. While Phil was pretending to read his book, he was already planning to put sugary frills on Reva's robes. In revenge, of course, for the sun's rays.

But something else now drew Phil's attention. The girl just entered the courtyard and spotted Phil. Oh no...why is she approaching him now? Phil quickly jumped up and wanted to go in the other direction, but two other students blocked his way. Here's what you get for going out terraforming your island in Animal Crossing! Thanks Reva!

With a sigh, Phil turned around and saw the girl standing in front of him with her arms crossed. Reva had already got up in the meantime and wanted to rush to Phil's help, but he waved her off. Was he up to something?

The girl started talking, "Well, don't you think it's about time?"

"Time? For what?" replied Phil dryly.

“Ask me on a date of course! The whole school knows what happened and of course it's your job now to ask me out."

Phil didn't reply. He had to process and sort through first what the girls just said now. Now why did she think they would go on a date? The girl seemed to interpret his silence as shyness and so she continued unconcernedly.

“Listen, I don't know what that bitch Scarlett told you, but it's clear that she's keeping you on a long leash. She is a men-eater and always will be. Throw herself at anyone who even asks for it. You should be grateful to me that it was me who saved you from her. She just took advantage of you and you're being too friendly. She's so pathetic."

The girl and her friends giggle, not realizing they've gone a step too far. Phil had no problem with being insulted, told lies about him, or dismissed as a freak. But never badmouth Phil's friends. Especially not Scarlett.

Phil's entire posture changed, as did his charisma. The girls had no idea what was about to happen, but Reva saw her friend like she had never seen him before. Phil's expression didn't change, but his expression was hard and his eyes were cold. He felt an emotion that he rarely felt like this. Phil Baker was furious.

"The only pathetic person here is you."

The giggling stopped immediately and the girls looked confused at Phil. Before the counterattack could be launched, Phil continued.

"Tell me, are you kinda in love with me? Your obsession with me and this one night stand is almost pathological. Maybe you should get it checked out. How pathetic and boring does your own life have to be if you're so preoccupied with mine or Scarlett's? Don't you have better things to do or are you really that stupid? You found out everything about me and I don't even know your name!"

The students present in the courtyard all stopped and watched the current events spellbound. People had never seen Phil like this before. His normally calm and relaxed voice has given way to a razor-sharp, almost aggressive voice. And was he always this big? Phil's whole body was tense. He never looked so big and dominant. He stared at the groups of girls in front of him like a lion and didn't blink once. He slowly walked towards the girl while she backed away.

"I want to tell you something now. You annoy me more than a bug in a new EA video game. You are pathetic, annoying and have an obnoxious character. WHY should I go on a date with YOU? I'm not a masochist! You've been annoying me and my friends for a month."

By now he and the girl had reached the wall of the school building and fear was written all over the girl's face. Phil's words were barely more than a whisper now.

“You stay away from me and my friends from now on. And if I hear you say one bad word about Scarlett or give her a silly look, I swear you'll regret it."

With that, Phil took a step back and spoke in a louder, more relaxed voice.

“Besides… I think you overestimate yourself. Yes, we had sex. You've been talking about this for 4 weeks, so I seem to have stuck by quite a bit. I, on the other hand, can't remember anything. You don't seem to have made a lasting impression."

A cheeky grin crossed Phil's face as the girl's face flushed red from the laughter from the others. The eyes filled with tears and the girl ran away crying. Her friends still followed her, pale-faced.

Phil relaxed again and ran his hand through his hair. He hasn't been this angry in a long time. He didn't even notice that someone had been watching him the whole time...

Reva walked up to Phil and patted his shoulder, laughing, "I didn't know you could freak out like that. My respect."

"Last time I was so angry when the top laner in LoL used to kill me as a jungler."

And by then it was gone. Phil's cool demeanor.

“I mean how are you supposed to jungle if you don't get gold for items. And without the bow, Grag is..."

Before Phil could finish his sentence or Reva could roll her eyes in annoyance, someone grabbed Phil's wrist and pulled him away. It was the person Phil that was watching the whole time. It was Scarlett.

She dragged the surprising Phil down a few aisles, ignoring his questions. When she was sure they were both alone, Scarlett turned and pulled Phil closer and kissed him, eyes closed. She didn't want him to see how red they are.

Phils head starts spinning while the kiss. He didn't expect the kiss itself, nor the intensity. But he sensed that Scarlett was upset and returned the kiss. It took a while for the two to break the kiss and they both looked at each other for a few seconds.

Phil would have loved to ask questions, but he knew Scarlett too well by now. He wouldn't get any answers and he realized - it was okay with him. Phil loved this difficult girl just the way she is. On the other hand, Scarlett knew she didn't owe Phil a question and answer. He accepted her as she is, even though she didn't really know who she was by herself.

Scarlett broke the silence and with a look at Phil she said, "Thanks."

And that was the end of the matter for both of them. Much between the two was unspoken and would remain so for many years to come. But they are teenagers and not perfect. And yet there's nothing Phil would change right now.

Regaining his casual and relaxed demeanor, he put his hands in his pockets and gave Scarlett a crooked smile.

“I have to sit in the sun for 6 more minutes. Would you like to read through the latest Valorant patch notes with me?”

"Not really, but you'd tell me later anyway. And why in the sun? What about your noble pallor?”

Phil laughed, "I told Reva that too."

And so they both went back. Back to the place in the sun. Back to their everyday life.

Chapter #5

Summary:

Stiles chuckles softly, his heart swelling. “I love you too, sweet girl. You are absolutely right. They are missing out.” He pulls away to drain the past and sighs. “I mean, who wouldn’t love lightsabers?” “Exactly! Plus, the women are awesome. Especially Leia!” she cheers with a giggle. “What about Rey?” Stiles asks. Olivia puts her hands on her hips and huffs. “Rey is the best Daddy. Obviously.” Stiles nods sagely and stifles a smile at the serious expression on her little face. “Can you go wash your hands for dinner please?” “Okay, Daddy,” she says with a nod and heads down the hallway toward the bathroom.

Stiles picks his daughter up from a friend’s house and then they head home. They head inside and Olivia puts her backpack away. “Daddy?”

“Yes, angel?” he replies as he closes the door and locks it.

“Did you have a good day at work today?”

Stiles toes off his shoes and hangs up his keys. “Definitely.”

Olivia wraps her arms around his waist. “Good. Can we have spaghetti for supper please?”

With a nod from Stiles, she goes over to the couch and pulls out her art supplies while Stiles heads to the kitchen to get started on dinner.

After a few minutes Stiles glances towards the living room. “How was school Liv?”

She looks up from her picture. “It was good. Sadie and I got to jump rope because Max joined us. The other boys said he was weird because only girls jump rope, but I told them that boys and girls can do whatever they want. I told him that I have Star Wars bedding and that my daddy likes to sew. Then Sadie, Max and I ignored them.”

Stiles can’t help the fond smile on his face. “Sounds like you had a really good day then. I’m proud of you for sticking up for yourself and your friend.”

“Me too,” she says as she resumes coloring. “I’m gonna be Rey for Halloween. Sadie is gonna be Leia and we asked Max to join us. He said he wants to be Darth Maul. Some other kid said that he shouldn’t be the bad guy and Max said he can be who he wants. I agree with him. Darth Maul is actually really cool.”

“Well, you know I will always agree when it comes to Star Wars.”

Olivia is quiet and then looks at her daddy. “Daddy?"

“Hm?”

“What’s a nerd?”

Stiles pauses and looks over. “Did someone call you that?”

She nods and Stiles sighs, shaking his head. “First of all, it’s not okay to call names. Kids are going to be mean, and some adults can be mean as well, but you can’t control them. You can only control how you respond to them.”

“What am I supposed to say to them?” she asks, her trusting eyes on her daddy.

Stiles smiles. “Well, I for one am proud to be a nerd and a geek. We’re special and we like what we like. It’s not a bad thing and anyone who calls you that in a mean way is just being a bully.”

“Well if you’re a nerd and a geek, Daddy then I am too. I’m not ashamed to like Star Wars, Pokémon and comic books. I’m really really smart too, Daddy.”

“You sure are, angel.”

Olivia gets up and hugs him. “They’re all missing out. You’re the best, Daddy. I love you.”

“Exactly! Plus, the women are awesome. Especially Leia!” she cheers with a giggle.

“What about Rey?” Stiles asks.

Olivia puts her hands on her hips and huffs. “Rey is the best Daddy. Obviously.”

Stiles nods sagely and stifles a smile at the serious expression on her little face. “Can you go wash your hands for dinner please?”

“Okay, Daddy,” she says with a nod and heads down the hallway toward the bathroom.

Stiles works on the hamburger meat and thinks about how to make their Halloween costumes. He grins at the excitement building inside him. He’s made her costume every year since she was born. He starts plating their food and grabs out apple juice for Olivia and water for himself.

Once they’re both seated, they start eating and after a few minutes Olivia asks him a question.

“Who was the best wolf and the best cub today daddy?”

Stiles smiles. “Well, the best wolf and cub were Derek and his son Zeke.”

“Why?” she asks curiously.

“Well Zeke was excited to be on the course, but his daddy was scared. Derek still went up on the courses with his son even though he was afraid, and his son waited for him, helping through every single obstacle even though he wanted to howl on the ziplines right away.”

“Wow. They really are a good wolf and cub. Can I meet them?”

Stiles chuckles and hands her a napkin to clean the spaghetti sauce from her cheeks. “I don’t know, angel. I think they were only here on vacation but you’re coming in with me tomorrow. So, we’ll see.”

Olivia wipes her face and grins. “Good! I like when cubs and wolves make you smile, daddy. Can we watch Balto now?”

“Of course, but dishes first.”

They do the dishes and then curl up on the couch to watch Balto while Stiles braids her hair. If his mind also wanders to Derek’s gorgeous eyes and his adorable son, well that’s between him and himself.

“Olivia? Time to get up angel!” Stiles calls out as he gets ready for the day.

“I’m ready daddy!” she calls back, already dressed in a pair of jeans and her small black Howlin’ Heights shirt with Mini A printed on the sleeve. All the shirts that the pack wears are black with a red wolf on the front, Howlin’ Heights in red on the back and their nicknames in red on the sleeve. They also have red shirts with a black wolf on the front, Howlin’ Heights in black on the back and their nicknames in black on the sleeve. Her daddy let her help pick the red shirts when they got them two years ago and says she can help again when they get new ones next year.

Olivia is already planning on blue shirts with a white wolf on the front, Howlin’ Heights in white on the back and their nicknames in white on the sleeve. That and she thinks black shirts with a blue wolf on the front, Howlin’ Heights in blue on the back and their nicknames in blue on the sleeve is awesome too.

She ties her red chucks on and heads to her daddy’s room with hair ties in her hands.

Stiles looks over from his bathroom where he’s brushing his teeth. Once he rinses his mouth out, he makes his way back into his room and smiles. “You got ready quickly. Are we doing braids today?” he asks, holding his hand out for the hair ties.

“Yes please. I am excited, Daddy. I love Saturdays!” she says excitedly as she hands him the hair ties.

“I’m glad,” he says with a smile. He gets her to sit on the bed and starts brushing her hair. This time with just the two of them is so precious to him. They’re quiet as he braids her hair, deciding to French braid it this morning.

Once the braids are secured, he puts a small red bow on each one to match her shirt. Olivia hurries to her bathroom to check them and grins before running back in and hugging him tightly. “Thank you, Daddy! They’re perfect!”

Stiles lets out an ‘oomph’ when she throws her arms around his waist but grins. “You’re welcome. Go grab your water bottle and we’ll head out.”

They make sure they have everything and then head out to the jeep. Olivia starts singing along with the radio.

Stiles sighs happily and turns the song up just a bit before joining in. He loves that she’s so confident and he hopes she never loses that confidence.

Olivia is vibrating with excitement as they park, and Stiles turns off the car. “Ready?”

“Yes!”

Stiles waits for her to get out and then locks the jeep before heading inside. He’s the first one in on Saturdays. “Let’s see what we have for guests today,” he says, scanning the list.

“Daddy, can I help with the rotation?”

“Sure! The only one we have to keep the same is Theo on Lunar Landing.”

Olivia giggles. “Shadow is on the moon!”

Theo and Jackson show up not long after and Olivia squeals excitedly. The two guys get geared up and make their way to the cabin. “Hey, Mini A!” Theo says.

“Hi Shadow! Hi Chameleon!”

Jackson huffs but his smile grows. “Hey, Mini A,” he says and then gestures to her shoes. “I think you forgot to tie them.”

Stiles glances over and snorts when Olivia merely rolls her eyes. “Nuh uh. I double tied them. You can’t trick me. Plus, daddy taught me that one a long time ago. You’ll have to try harder than that.” She crosses her arms and grins triumphantly.

Jackson looks at Stiles with mock betrayal before the three guys start laughing.

Kira, Allison and Erica show up next to find red faced Stiles, Theo, and Jackson and a proud Olivia.

“Looks like you guys started off the morning well,” Erica says as she makes her way behind the desk, pulling out the schedule.

Kira and Allison can barely contain their giggles as they head into the den to put their gear on.

Boyd and Isaac arrive with a half hour left before they open.

Stiles goes to start assigning things, but Erica stops him. “So, I put you in for the second brief today and tomorrow instead of the third one and I made sure you’re on the Howling Course for today and tomorrow.”

“Why?” Stiles asks suspiciously.

Erica merely shrugs avoiding answering. “Let’s see. Looks like Mini A helped with the rotation. Theo you’re on Lunar Landing. Allison, you and Kira are on the Cub Course. Isaac you’re doing the first safety brief. Alpha is on the second safety brief. Jackson you’re on the third safety brief. Boyd, you're here with me in the cabin for now, unless we have any repairs to do.”

“What about me?” Olivia asks.

Stiles tugs gently on her braid. “You can hang with anyone except for Isaac. Cause he’s got the first brief.”

Olivia goes over to Jackson and leans her back against him.

Stiles huffs with a smile. Then he turns to look at Erica, taking the sheet from her. “Okay. Isaac, go ahead and open courses one and two. I’ll open courses three and four. Mini A, you’ll need to stick with Boyd until Jackson gets courses five and six open.” He meets all their gazes one by one and then nods. “Let’s open, pack!”

Boyd leads Olivia into the office with Erica while everyone else heads out to open.

Stiles makes his way to the Howling Course and breathes in the fresh morning air feeling himself settle into his role as Alpha. He’s up on course three pretty quickly, making sure things are secure. He and Isaac chat a little bit after they finish opening their courses and wait for Jackson to finish opening his two courses before making their way back up to the den.

By the time 8:30 am rolls around, everyone is ready to go. Erica has people for group one signed in, with wristbands and heading down to the harnessing area.

Jackson is down at courses five and six of the Howling Course. Stiles, after making sure Olivia is harnessed and safe with Jackson, heads down to where courses three and four of the Howling Course are. Theo is up on the platform for Lunar Landing while Allison and Kira take their places at the Cub Course.

“Alpha to Pack.”

“Pack to Alpha,” they chorus back.

“Awooooooo!!!”

They all howl back, and Stiles starts his work day with a grin on his face and a warmth in his heart.

Star wars Celebration Anaheim Part 2

So me and my brother got tickets to the celebrity signings, while in line for the signings and for other random things I was literally crocheting yarn leis for the people I was gonna meet.

I also made these really quick drawings of the most out of context things I could think of so here’s the run down.

I gave Ashley Ekstein an image of Ahsoka lost in the off-limits area of the play place at Mc Donalds... I’m not kidding.

UHm for Sam witwer I gave him a drawing of Darth Maul as a planet fittness employee because when my friend showed me a reel of him in the recording booth I said, he looks like a planet fittness employee-

For Matt Lanter, I gave him a drawing of Ahsoka and Anakin staring at the floor because they just dropped the lego ship they’d been working on for hours.

Okay and I didn’t get a picture of this one, but I drew Michelle Ang a picture of Omega realising she’s lost in a Walmart.

The voice actors like looked at these for a good minute trying to understand what was happening until I explained to them what it was, I think the person who was the most confused was Sam Witwer because those two things just don’t make any sense whatsoever. I also remember Ashley Ekstein in the most mom way possible saying, I love your art! This is really good. ahfiuerhsuifwehfweifg

Michelle Ang was like :) I love it and then I showed her my tiny sketch book and she asked for my instagram and i was like

You for real? You serious? On God? Just like that?

She told me to write it on the back of the drawing and I did and like. I guess Michelle Ang factually has my instagram @ now. Also remember saying, man thank you we need more PI rep in Star Wars and then she just started nodding and said “ yes Absolultey.” both of us just nodded in solidarity for like a minute.

Even the celebrities I didn’t have tickets for I still got in line and met just to give them leis, each lei had the colors of their characters, and it was something I decided to do as an extent of what we did back in Hawai’i, especially at kawaii kon people would give the guests there gifts.

Of course, it was usually stuff like art, and food, but because of covid and certain gift rules these yarn leis were the best I could do that they would accept :)

THen the absolute chadist moment, me and my brother managed to get pictures with Temuera Morrison

I asked first of course and gave him a lei and he like like, Oh it’s for me? and I was like 𝒴𝑒𝓈 𝓂𝓎 𝓁𝒾𝑒𝑔𝑒. But not really, I just said, Yeah :)

Absolute legend, when we were done, I said, Mahalo Nui :) and my brother said shoots, and like we heard Temuera say Mahalo nui back and I just remember leaving like

The one kine uncle said it, I am at peace.

Another thing my fish, on my belt, my fish pouch is like staring back at the camera.

Absolutely legendary.

I just finished watching Tales of the Jedi for the 2nd time and I’d like to share my thoughts.

Spoilers for TotJ!!!

The series overall—Animation was ok (I mentioned how Rex/the clone model still looked off here) but overall it was good (especially the environments). THE MUSIC WAS 💯💕 BEAUTIFUL. There were a few things that was kinda like 🤔 but it’s nothing too major and I had some thoughts on what I, personally, would’ve liked to see.

Ep1–Life and Death

—Thought it was good. Baby Ahsoka’s design is similar to the one shown briefly in CW 👍

—The panda dog things were adorable and the food they eat looks SO SIMILAR to Mantell Mix

—The village elder does 3 hand poses (and says something in their native language) when Ahsoka’s mom made a kill, which reminded me of Rebels and the 3 hand poses that opens the portal thing

—Giant cat looked very tiger-y and immediately thought of Jungle Book, though the stories are very different.

Ep2–Justice

—Loved Young Dooku/Quigon duo. Like their designs/interactions, everything, was really good imo

—Dooku wears a cape and not a jedi robe

—Quigon didn’t have his padawan braid but I guess that was time between Padawan/Knight.

—Liked the fact that the senator’s son wasn’t upset about being kidnapped. Loved 2 Ton’s design (the droid)

—clearly sets up Dooku’s fall to the dark side.

Ep3–Choices

—The Mace/Dooku duo was something I’ve wanted since seeing them in Attack of the Clones.

—Mace’s design is also changed slightly (like Anakin/Ahsoka/Obi) to keep up with the better technology. How old is Mace? I honestly don’t know and actually expected him to look a bit younger. Like I know he trained Depa Bilaba (Caleb/Kanan’s master) but, to me, he seemed to be the same age as he was in CW.

—Loved that AotC was more of a noir/detective movie and seemed to continue into this episode (Windu/Dooku solving a jedi murder case).

—I think the guard guy that Mace killed was the son of the guy with the different colored eyes. Which means Mace killed someone’s son and left a father without a child and he also killed Boba’s father Jango, leaving Boba without a father. That’s just my opinion/HC and wasn’t confirmed or anything.

—MACE DID NOT STEAL THE COUNCIL SEAT FROM DOOKU! From context, Dooku has no problem doing things his way and explaining it to the Council. That means this has happened more than the one time we saw in context of this episode. I believe Dooku never really had a chance at a seat on the Council. He believed he did. I think his own ego/shortsightedness blinded Dooku into believing he was guaranteed a spot on the Council

—By now it’s clear that Anakin and Dooku have a lot in common (think RotS when Anakin got upset that he wasn’t a ‘master’ but on the Council)

Ep4–The Sith Lord

—This was my favorite episode!

—MASTER YADDLE!!! FINALLY!!! I believe we first see her in The Phantom Menace when Anakin is brought to the Temple on Coruscant and the jedi are testing him. She appears briefly in the background and has no speaking lines if I remember correctly. I know Yaddle has a different story in Star Wars Legends (the Extended Universe—books/video games etc) but I actually really enjoyed seeing her.

—Her relationship with Dooku seemed really important. Dooku was Yoda’s padawan and my own HC is that Yaddle and Yoda are Grogu’s (Baby Yoda) parents. I believe Yoda/Dooku/Yaddle were kind of like Anakin/Ahsoka/Obiwan respectively. Ahsoka is Anakin’s padawan but also had Obi-wan as a friend/mentor just like Dooku is Yoda’s padawan, but also seemed to be friends with Yaddle.

—Also I believe this was the only episode that is set during one of the movies (Phantom Menace). Dooku talks with Quigon about the Sith Lord (Darth Maul) that he and Obiwan encountered on Tatooine before it changes to Yaddle informing Dooku about Quigon’s funeral (after being killed by Maul on Naboo). She is clearly concerned about Dooku, especially when he says he must let Quigon go as he’s one with the Force. She asks him if he ‘can do this’, to which he responds with ‘what choice have I?’

—Dooku’s always been shown to have great control over his emotions (which is why he doesn’t have sith eyes) but despite that, Yaddle’s concern wins out and she follows him to his meeting with Emperor Palpatine.

—DOOKU LOVED QUIGON JUST LIKE OBI LOVED ANAKIN! His convo with Yaddle earlier (about the tree) clearly showed that. And he was RIGHTLY upset that Palpy had him killed by Maul.

—SHE LEFT THE COUNCIL FOR DOOKU!!! SHE EVEN ADMITTED HE WAS RIGHT!! That is love right there. She clearly had a loving friendship relationship with Dooku for her to leave the Council. And what does Obi-wan tell Satine? ‘Had you said the word, I would’ve left the Jedi Order’. Yaddle probably didn’t think of Dooku in a romantic way (I hope), but she obviously cared about him just as he cared for Quigon.

—YADDLE BEGGED DOOKU TO HELP HER BRING PALPY TO JUSTICE.

—THAT WHOLE FIGHT, JESUS!

—Ok, whoever is in charge of ratings sucks cuz there’s no way that this episode was TV-PG. Yaddle’s death was BRUTAL! Like they didn’t really show the blade connecting, but they showed her lifeless body after, made the saber-on-flesh-sound, and showed Dooku beginning the execution move. JESUS Disney. Shit

Ep5–Practice Makes Perfect

—Seeing young Anakin and mullet-Obiwan in clone armor made me SO HAPPY!!!

—The sass is still there!! AAHHH!!!

—Plo Koon sitting with Yoda, Obiwan and Anakin watching Ahsoka proudly was such a dad-move!!!

—And seeing young Caleb/Kanan and Bilaba at Ahsoka’s training test was amazing! And he was so obviously gushing about Ahsoka to Bilaba when they walked out lol

—MASTER SINUBE!!! GRAMPS!!! Was this before or after that Lightsaber Lost ep?!?!

—Of course Anakin was unimpressed with the test and unintentionally taught her how to survive O66.

—Seeing the clones in phase 1 armor again made me flash back to early CW animation.

—ABSOLUTELY LOVED JESSE’S LITTLE ‘Sorry Commander!’ As it was funny in the moment and tragic when you think about the fact that Jesse lead the turned clones during O66 and was going to kill Ahsoka (and possibly Rex too).

—I think this episode is the only one with a time skip. Loved the transition of the stuns and Ahsoka waking up older and seeing the clones in their phase 2 armor.

—THEY MADE ANAKIN’S TRAINING INTO A GAME!!!

—Then skipped again to O66 with Ahsoka and Rex walking into the hangar full of clones ready to kill them (with Jesse out front).

—Gave me Arcane ep7 Ekko/Jinx vibes TO THE MAX!! (Though if I’m being honest, I preferred Arcane’s version though it’s so close lol).

Ep6–Resolve

—Ok so I think out of all of them, this one’s the worst.

—Don’t get me wrong, it was ok, but out of every ep, I didn’t really care for it.

—My fav part/scene was Padme’s funeral and Bail’s convo with her.

—Ahsoka is living in hiding in a small farming village that has Empire presence I guess.

—Ahsoka has to use the Force to save one of the workers, who realizes Ahsoka is a jedi. Her brother rats Ahsoka out and an Inquisitor comes. From what I’ve heard online, it’s the 6th Brother?? Idk so please correct me if I’m wrong (I believe we’ve seen the 3rd Sister-Reva, 5th Brother, 7th Sister, and the 8th Brother briefly)

—So I’ve never gotten into SW Legends (the Extended Universe), but apparently from what I’ve seen online, this episode is supposed to be an animated version of a book called Ahsoka. It’s basically telling the same story 2 different ways.

—That’s pretty lazy 🤔 to me. Like there are so many other story options (even within just Ahsoka) so it still could’ve worked out 3 v 3 (3 Ahsoka/3 Dooku) eps. I’ve never read the book but I believe it’s about Ahsoka’s time after O66 and how she gets her white lightsabers.

—I heard that the female worker Ahsoka saves is actually black/dark-skinned in the book which is blatant whitewashing (I think I also read that the character was also established as queer). She was replaced by a female with fair skin, straight brown hair and light hazel-y brown eyes. SERIOUSLY?! THE WHITEWASHING HAS TO STOP!!! POC MATTER (in the US, it’s Nov so it’s Native American Heritage month! And Nov 1st was dia de los muertos/day of the dead).

—The Inquisitor’s design looked cool af

—The fight was ok. Reminded me a little of Maul v Obiwan but b/c there was no obvious history it wasn’t very impactful. Liked how he faded away though. And from what I read, he’s voiced by Clancy Brown??? Really!? I love Clancy Brown!! Also it seemed like the Inquisitor knew Ahsoka (he knew her name), though Ahsoka made no connection to him.

I guess those are my main thoughts on the series as a whole and on each episode as well.

What I’d change:

—ep 6 entirely. I’d actually would’ve loved to see how Ahsoka got her second lightsaber instead of the Inquisitor.

—the whitewashed clone model obviously

—So I loved ep4 and Dooku vs Yaddle, BUT! How cool would it have been if Dooku’s saber slowly changed to purple as the fight went on before turning red as he struck down the Jedi Master?? I’m sure that would absolutely go against how lightsabers turn red, having to do with emotions/feelings and that Dooku is great at controlling his own emotions. I just think that would’ve been cool. Though I’m sure that goes against how he actually got them (assuming it’s explained in Legends or something).

—I loved ep1 and baby ‘Soka. But I also love Plo Koon. Would’ve died to see him discover her and talk with her parents/the village elder.

What I’d like to see going forward, assuming there will be a s2 (w/ 6eps):

—MORE CLONE CONTENT!! Gimme a story about Boil going back to Ryloth with Waxer’s armor (post Umbara) and telling Numa what happened to their ‘nera’. Gimme cadet cody/rex bonding! Gimme 99’s creation and demotion to maintenance!! Would also give Disney yet another chance to change the clone model (though if we do get more clone content I highly doubt they would). Gimme Jango/Boba bonding (bonus points for Omega’s creation) I’d like to know SPECIFICALLY what Jango told Boba to make him hate clones. Gimme Wolffe’s demotion from Marshall Commander cuz he lost the whole 104th on the Malevolence. Gimme more clone domestic-life with the boys painting their armor/being w/ their Jedi generals. Just GIMME MORE CLONE BOYS!!! UNWHITEWASHED!!!!

—You can’t tell me that Tales of the Clones wouldn’t be badass lol

—I’d love to see General Grievous’s backstory. From what I’ve seen online, he’s some sort of warrior-hero/savior to his people but the Empire (I think) turned him into what we know as ‘Grievous’. Also that’s not even his name (I forget what it really is, but b/c Grievous sounds like ‘grieve’ I have a bad feeling that it has to do with his people or something).

—Young Yoda and his master. Yoda talks the way he does b/c of his master, which is why Yaddle doesn’t speak the same way (which makes me feel like Baby Yoda/Grogu will sound just like Mando lol).

—Black Krrsantan (Santo-the black wookie form BoBF) or Chewie’s backstory. I know we get a bit of Chewie from Solo: A Star Wars Story and would honestly prefer more Santo content (I think he fights Obiwan in a comic or something) but idk how likely that would be.

—Samuel L. Jackson has stated that he wants to return to Mace Windu/SW and was quoted saying of Mace’s demise- ‘in Star Wars, people survive getting their hands chopped off all the time. So it’s possible,” (or something like that—point is, he thinks Mace could’ve survived his fall/chopped limb). Would love to see Mace post O66 if he in fact, lives.

—Grogu teaching younglings the Jedi and Mandalorian ways, diving into his backstory pre-Mando. I HC that he’s Yaddle and Yoda’s son. It would also give SW a chance to tell a story post—the Skywalker saga timeline (Phantom Menace all the way through to the Rise of Skywalker), since Grogu can out-live the characters in the sequel trilogy.

—I’d like to see High Republic era stuff. I know little to nothing about that era but from fanart I’ve seen, it looks dope af (I know the new animated show Young Jedi Adventures is supposed to be set during that era, but it’s aimed for preschoolers so obviously I’d like something more adult set in that era—but I’m still going to check it out when it releases! Lol)

—I played the SW computer game The Old Republic so I’d also love anything set during that era as well (Master Satele Shan, Master Orgus Din, etc)

So I think that’s most of my thoughts on Tales of the Jedi. I definitely like it more than Bad Batch but not sure if it’s better than CW (to me they are equal). Thanks to all that have made it through this post. I promise I’ll be back with a fic real soon. Thanks everyone!

Wednesday Reading Meme and a note about Storygraph for fanfic readers

I'm traveling this week so I'm going to be out of ambit tomorrow (aka actual Wednesday) so I figured I would write out this week's reading in advance and add to it if I finish anything on the plane.

Also, useful little note for Storygraph users- they now have a way to log things as Not A Book! This was specifically added so that people could use Storygraph to track their fanfic without having to clog the Storygraph databases with non-book items. Since it does not add the fanfic to the larger catalog of books, it also doesn't put fic authors in the awkward position of having to ask people not to link their fanfic to a non-fanfic audience. What I've Read Homeworld Elegy by Ashcroft_Writes - part 2 of Gunslinger's Paean ( sprawling and wonderful AU from Epsiode 4:07 of The Clone Wars) - Technically an unfinished series but existing works each are complete. I found this to be just... solidly one of the best books I've read. Any genre, but in particular for sci fi. And it's about CAD BANE from the fucking Clone Wars cartoon. After the events of the first fic, which lead to Cad maybe sort of kind of sidling sideways towards considering maybe his current way of life is not working for him exactly as it is, he has to return to the space station he grew up on. This fic takes its original characters and just soaks them with meaning and builds metaphor and culture into everything - it feels incredibly sci fi and incredibly real. Highly recommend both works in the series.

Honorable mention for a shorter fic - On the Side by spicedrobot - Maul/Cad Bane, sex work, mind sex - just a great take on an interesting concept!

What I'm Reading Thrawn: Treason - Timothy Zahn - book three - I skipped book two because it did not have Eli Vanto, and I'm a simple creature.

thinking about other mundane but weirdly poignant experiences i had as a kid. my parents and im pretty sure all of my siblings were really into star wars but never made me watch it, and i remember looking through stuff in the basement (fun activity for children) and finding like a star wars coloring book that had a picture of darth maul's face in it and i didn't know anything about star wars but i was like Awesome. i didnt watch star wars until i was 16

I love this unused storyboard from The Phantom Menace, so I painted it! I was excited to paint the looming, skull-like Maul with a dainty brush and the sand clouds with a palette knife. I tried to balance Iain McCaig’s creepy composition with the sunny color palette of the movie. He looks a bit like he’s emerging from an explosion of perfectly toasted marshmallows.

In the storyboard, McCaig sketched Maul in his original design -- a spiked collar and no horns (he actually had feathers on his head!). I decided to keep the original costume but alter the face to look more like his final design.

There is actually an old action figure which combined Maul’s original and final designs long before I did. I bought mine at WonderCon a few years ago:

This 2001 action figure is called “Darth Maul: Sith Apprentice” and it’s from the “Power of the Jedi” line. It comes with a little book which gives a narrative explanation for the costume change:

“Early in Darth Maul's training as a Sith, he wears special padding as he learns the rigors of hand-to-hand combat and furthers his mastery of the dark side of the Force.”

I think the mustard yellow is very fetching on him.

The beauty & the sith

Pairing: Darth maul x Jedi

Warnings: Canon details changed for plot purposes. Mentions of death. The battle of Naboo.

Summery: A tale as old as time. A young Jedi falls into the trap of a careless sith to protect her father.

Authors note: this will be a series, hopefully

“I’m going to the library, father” (y/n) said as she fixed her lightly colored robes and clipped her saber to her side. Her father, Qui-Gon, looked up at her from his scroll with a soft smile. (Y/n) was his only child, not his biological daughter, his niece rather. The Jedi let him take her in after the death of his sister, he raised her as his own along side Obi-Wan.

She was always so smart, so strong willed and compassionate. She was just like his sister and she reminded him of that every day. She reminded him of the brave women his sister was, and how much light she put in his life, and everyone she met. (Y/n) was just like her in every way. Especially in the color blue.

“Where did you get those robes?” He asked curiously as he closed his scroll, setting it aside.

“Oh- I found them in my chest” she smiled looking at him. Probably a gift from Obi-wan, she was used to getting things from him. (Y/n) never had a problem with Obi-wan, but she was definitely not interested in him. He was like a brother to her, but to him she was much more.

Qui-gon nodded and smiled softly “you look lovely in that color...be safe” he said standing up and kissing her head “stay away from boys” he teased her. She only shook her head and looked up at him.

“I don’t think any of the men in this temple will ever be a bother to me, father” she whispered as she tied her hair back into its ribboned braid.

“And they better stay that way, or I’ll have a long talk with the council” he said sternly as he held his hands together.

“What if they are members of the council?” She asked with a smirk, always having to question the things he says just to know the answer, never for real importance.

“Then I’ll speak to master today privately about the matter.” He said looking down at her.

“Whaaaat if it’s Master yoda?” She asked again. Her father only gave her a look before pushing her to the door gently.

“Go on, before someone takes what you’re looking for” he said as she giggled and walked out the door.

“Waaaait, I didn’t get to ask what you are doing today” she said as they now stood in the hall out side their temple apartment. He nodded and sighed.

“Yes that is important...” he said in a tone that made her look at him with worried eyes.

“What’s going on...” she whispered softly as she grabbed his hands.

“The boy we’ve saved, anakin... I believe our discovery of him has raised some attention... master yoda senses a disturbance coming... Obi-wan and I are the ones attending the matter” he informed her quietly so no others heard.

“Why didn’t you tell me I could help you-“ she started but he cut her off.

“You are not yet ready... please just go to the library... I’ll see you tonight for dinner” he smiled at her and kissed her head as she let out a heavy sigh. She knew not to argue with him on Jedi matters, yet she did it often. But something about the way he said it, she knew to leave it alone and go about her way.

(Y/n) was quiet as she made her way down to the library. Keeping her nose in her current books as she went, many people greeted her as she passed. Many whispered as she walked away. Always so quiet, so closed off. Except for the people she trusted, Obi-Wan, her father and now anakin. Even tho anakin was only a child, there was something about him she trusted, something familiar. She could never place it, but she didn’t care to much about it either.

“And what are you reading today?” Obi-wan hummed plucking the book from her hands as she came into the library. She looked up at him and reached for it quickly.

“Obi-wan!” She whined and tried to jump to grab it. He was so much taller then her , it was way to easy for him to hold things from her grasp.

“The fires of Dathomir?” He looked at her curiously. “Now why on earth would you be reading something like that?” He asked flipping three the pages, stopping on a academic drawing of the zabrak male. “And the only image is a naked man” he said handing it back to her.

“It’s to represent common tattoos of the Dathomorian people” she said in a matter-of-fact tone as she walked more into the library. Obi-wan on her heels as she went to put the book away. “Plus, I’m already finish with it, I was just reviewing it.” She said as she used the force to slip it back into its shelf.

“Did you pick that book because you were bored of because of Darth maul?” He asked leaning against the shelves as he looked down at her.

“Darth Maul?” She asked confused, her father knew her well enough to not mention the sith, she always had weird dreams about the sith. So anytime they had sith problems, unless it was necessary, he didn’t inform her.

“He didn’t tell you...” Obi-wan sighed “there was this Zabrak on Tatooine that attacked us, tried to get Padmé and take anakin... goes by Darth Maul” Obi-wan said softly.

“And no one told me till now?” She crossed her arms a little frustrated.

“I thought he would... it seemed necessary, I’m sorry sunflower I didn’t know” Obi-wan said trying to be calm about it, and calm her too.

“Tell me about him...” she said sitting down.

“About Darth Maul?” He asked as they sat down.

“No, about you” she said looking at him, a smirk grew in his face.

“Well-“

“Yes about Darth Maul” she cut him off before he could continue. Obi-wan shook his head and started talking about it and what happened on Tatooine. They sat there for awhile discussing the events before she realized.

“Aren’t you meant to be with my father?” She asked him as she grabbed a book about Zabraks.

“Well yes, but he had a meeting with the council I was told I wasn’t allowed to go to... so I figure I’d talk to you” Obi-wan said looking at the time.

“And how did you know where to find me?” She said flipping three pages.

“Where else would you be?” He answered before she stopped and glanced up at him.

“I go... other places” she started

“Like where?” He hummed lifting her chin.

“The... gardens” she said closing the book abruptly before someone came into the isle they were at.

“Obi-wan... master Qui-gon is looking for you” the younger twi’lek said with a kind smiled. “Good morning Miss Jinn” she hummed to (y/n) before walking away. (Y/n) looked up at Obi-wan and smiled.

“Good luck” she said letting him go before she went into her research.

It seemed like only minutes had passed as she read her books, but as she looked up the light peeking threw the large windows had become a burnt orange. The sun was setting fast over Coruscant, Barely giving her enough time to put her things into her bag before leaving. It wasn’t uncommon for her to forget time while reading. Some days she’s been in there till late at night.

As she made her way threw the temple she started to feel this strange ache in her head. Unlike anything she’d felt before. Longing, that’s what it felt like. Like being lost in a crowd of people, only searching for one person that you just can’t find. And that’s what she was doing, before even noticing it she was running threw the temple to find the source of this feeling.

She started to become warm, the feeling in her chest, her stomach. The anxiety, the force guiding her, she didn’t know what was happing next she just knew she needed to get to it. Wherever it was. Her feet guided her, her brain on hyperdrive before she found herself in the shipping bay. Frozen as she finally found the source of this emotion, her father. Fighting against a sith she had never known. The description only matching that to Darth Maul.

She couldn’t get passed the red chambers fast enough, she couldn’t reach him in time. The piercing heat of the saber went threw her father with in second before the zabrak noticed her. The sob escaping her throat alerting him of her presents as he pulled away from the Jedi master. The red barriers fell and she was quickly at Qui-Gon’s side.

In this moment she didn’t care about the sith, she only wanted to hold her father. “No- no - dad” she whimpered picking up his head and setting it on her lap. “Please look at me” she whimpered as his eyes opened weakly and face turned to a grin.

“I knew you’d find me...” he whispered. “I... I needed to see you.. one last time” she whispered reaching his hand uo to her face. She let out a sob as she leaned into his touch

“It was you- you brought me here...” she whispered as he nodded.

“I needed you to see this... I needed you to be here” he whispered as his touch began to tremble.

“Why...” she grabbed his hand

“Because I love you... I need you to know that...you’re- you’re my daughter and I love you” he whispered as he closed his eyes.

The barriers flashed again as Obi-wan entered the room. Maul was quick to grab (y/n) uo from the floor and hold his scorching blade to her neck.

“Him or her” he growled in such a deep tone it vibrated her back. She could feel his warm skin threw their robes.

“No- no” obi-wan grabbed his masters saber but she stopped him.

“No! Save him!” (Y/n) cried. “Please Obi-wan!” She looked at him as tears streamed down her face. Something about maul felt familiar, and she trusted that enough to put her life on it. “Take him to the infirmary! I’ll be okay! Please!” She cried looking at them. Maul’s grip on her hit tighter as she spoke. A deep chuckle came from his throat and right into her ear.

“So compliant... it’s like you want to be taken” he purred before looking at Obi-Wan “you heard her... take him” he growled again before Obi/ wan picked up his master and looked at (y/n)

“I’ll save you” he said reassuringly.

“Save him first!” She yelled at him before he ran off to help Qui-Gon.

That moment set the markings for the rest of her life with the amber eyes sith. Fear racked threw her body like it owned its every cell. But his warm comforted it like a warm blanket. It made her uneasy, her mind already in a panic as Maul drug her to his ship. She didn’t speak or sob, she just froze.

She didn’t say anything to him as he hauled her up to his ship. Setting her down on the passenger seat and strapping her into it.

“Don’t move” he said sternly as she looked up at him. The only response she could conjure up was a whimper. He just shook his head and started the ship quickly “you’re pathetic...” he mumbled before the ship roared to life and took off. All she could think about was that

She gave her life to a zabrak.

I have often given Qui-Gon Jinn a hard time because he’s so often used in STAR WARS fandom as a weapon to beat on other characters I love and it makes it difficult to like him, as well as it overshadows who the character himself is. So, to help balance that out some, I wanted to do a set of recs to remind myself–and just share some happiness in!–that I actually do very much like Qui-Gon! He’s a good person who really loved the people around him, he cared very deeply, he had an amazing friendship with Yoda (seriously, that Yoda’s the one he reaches out to when he becomes a Force Ghost, that even after death, Qui-Gon loves his Jedi family, it gives me feelings in my feelings place every single time), and one of my favorite things about Master & Apprentice is that I often got the impression that he knew he was kind of obnoxious sometimes, but he was at peace with it, he was fine with that. That was a straight shot to my heart, I love that dude! So, here have some fics that celebrate that Qui-Gon is actually a really great character.
