Pet peeve but in today’s Dracula Abraham Van Helsing is wrongly spelled because the van should be lower case if you write the whole name. You should only capitalise the van if you only use the last name, so it’s professor Van Helsing and Abraham van Helsing

Christ almighty I’ve seen some weird posts recently, even just as a joke, I’m 100% one for dark humour and making fun of characters’ choices but I feel like there’s quite a bit difference between “well well Victor Frankenstein if it isn’t the consequences of your own actions” and “it was actually Jonathan Harker’s fault he was put in a heavily abusive and manipulative scenario, he should have listened to his OTHER abuser instead” I mean Jesus Christ-

No need to police, no need to be overly sensitive about everything, I know that, but there is definitely a clear line here. I didn’t think it needed to be said, but abuse is real, even if vampires aren’t, and even if it’s fictional, fiction means things and reflects reality. one thing that i find fascinating about (re)reading the phantom of the opera after reading dracula is how, in a sense, they reflect each other. dracula begins with a man who we eventually discover to be a monster in the purest sense. the phantom of the opera begins with a myth, a legend of a monster, who, over the book, we find to be nothing but a man, but still sad, twisted, and depraved.
