Text
one thing that i find fascinating about (re)reading the phantom of the opera after reading dracula is how, in a sense, they reflect each other. dracula begins with a man who we eventually discover to be a monster in the purest sense. the phantom of the opera begins with a myth, a legend of a monster, who, over the book, we find to be nothing but a man, but still sad, twisted, and depraved.
