Daily Scripture Text:
*"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." - Psalm 46:10*
Commentary:
This verse from Psalm 46 reminds us of the power and sovereignty of God. In the midst of chaos and turmoil, it calls us to find peace and reassurance in God's presence. Being still before God allows us to acknowledge His authority over all things and to trust in His divine plan. It reminds us that God will ultimately be exalted, and His glory will be known throughout the world.
Questions :
1. How do you find stillness and peace in your relationship with God?
2. What areas of your life do you need to surrender control to God and trust in His sovereignty?
3. How can you actively exalt God in your daily life and interactions with others?
Prayer:
Dear Lord, in the midst of life's chaos, help us to find stillness and peace in your presence. Teach us to trust in your sovereignty and to surrender control of our lives to you. May we exalt you in all that we do, bringing glory to your name. Amen.

“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”

Prayer for June 19th
Lord, help me to focus upon those things you would have me do. Assure that my attention is on you and not the distractions that come into my daily life. I know that you will grant any request I make that is consistent with the plan you have for my life. Thank you that you are always within reach if I will reach out to you.

The Book of Proverbs was probably composed over a long period of time, which allowed many teachings to be written in the form of principles or maxims based on historical facts from the Bible. And one of the maxims of this book written in the first collection of Solomonic proverbs shows the importance of wisdom, and even more so when it comes to people with power: "A king delights in a wise servant, but a shameful servant arouses his fury" Proverbs 14:35. The Old Testament teaches that there is no more important figure than the King and the prophet. And the destiny of kings, as the Bible teaches, has often depended on the foolishness or wisdom of their servants and advisors. The book of Genesis tells us that Joseph's wisdom pleased Pharaoh, and this wisdom not only allowed Joseph to divine a terrible dream that afflicted Pharaoh but also to correctly administer the Kingdom of Egypt, which allowed this country to endure a terrible famine that affected that country. Hezekiah, the King of Judah, when he saw his city, Jerusalem, besieged by the tyrant Sennacherib, ruler of the Assyrian empire, saw his hope realized through the wisdom of the prophet Isaiah, which allowed him to resist until he obtained victory. As these stories show and as the Book of Proverbs teaches, the success of many kings has depended on the wisdom of sensible servants, and that is why these kings have given them their favor; but the opposite has also happened, from the foolishness of some servants, many kings have suffered great setbacks, what unleashed the fury of these rulers. Like when King Artaxerxes, poorly advised by an unfaithful official named Haman, was about to commit a grave injustice against the Jews, as recounted in the book of Esther. These stories leave a clear message, the wisdom of God is priceless because with her lies happiness and the true life.

1 Peter: How Never Having Seen Jesus Can Produce Joy That Is Inexpressible And Glorious
Though you have not seen him, you love him.  Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.  1 Peter 1:8-9 I confess that I envy Peter and the other apostles sometimes.  They saw Jesus with their own eyes and heard His voice with their own ears.  They saw Him…

Start the year off on the right foot. Weekdays I'll be posting a suggested reading for a one year Bible reading plan that will take us through the Bible in chronological order (as the events happened - at least as best as Bible scholars can determine they may have).
The plan takes about 10 minutes a day to read, with weekends off for you to catch up if weekdays are too busy to get your reading in. I will be posting the full reading plan in various formats (iCal, csv, pdf, etc.) for download as well as soon as I can find a place to host them.
Also, I encourage you to comment on each days reading, what you feel about what you've read, what translation you might be reading from and what insight that's given you, any thoughts at all you might have!
I hope you find these daily readings valuable through 2023.

You're not powerful enough to ruin God's plan for you.
In case you thought you blew it.
In case you thought you were too far gone.
In case you are stuck in fear.
Rest in the fact that God is a God of redemption, and He knows your limitations.
Psalm 103:13-14 reminds us: "As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust."
If you're seeking to honor God, you're exactly where you need to be. He sees your heart, your sacrifices, and your obedience. It's not about perfection, but submission. God fulfills His plans through willing hearts.
Please don't think that you messed up the story.
Continue to show up faithfully, and know that God, in His faithfulness, will do His part and direct your path. 🌿

Daily Scripture Text: "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." - Matthew 6:33
Commentary: Matthew 6:33 emphasizes the priority of seeking God's kingdom and righteousness above all else. It reminds us that when we prioritize our relationship with God and align our lives with His will, He promises to provide for our needs. This verse challenges us to focus on eternal values rather than temporal concerns, trusting that God will take care of every aspect of our lives as we seek Him first.
Questions:
How does this verse challenge your priorities and perspective on life?
In what ways do you actively seek God's kingdom and righteousness in your daily life?
How can you trust God more fully to provide for your needs as you prioritize Him above all else?
Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to prioritize seeking your kingdom and righteousness above all else in our lives. Grant us the wisdom to align our hearts with your will and trust in your provision for all our needs. May our pursuit of you lead to a deeper intimacy with you and a greater reliance on your faithfulness. In Jesus' name, amen.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Reading for May 20th               Job 37  One of my favorite sayings is, “No one is argued into a relationship with Christ.” I think we can safely assume Elihu would have been a terrible evangelist. Elihu’s passive aggressive tone, condescending nature, and ego would make pointing people to God an enormous challenge. This begs the question, though, what does it take to be an evangelist? First, to be an evangelist means to bring good news. The Good News of Jesus Christ is that he overcame death on the cross for the forgiveness of sins and all who accept Him as Lord receive eternal life. Second, to be an evangelist means it’s not about us. When we evangelize, we are pointing others to God and Jesus. We can share our story and testimony, but that’s only to show the greatness of Jesus. Third, evangelism is an act of love. We share the Good News out of love for our neighbor. Sharing the hope that comes from a relationship with Christ is what we want to do. We don’t do this out of anger, malice, or frustration, but love. Now it’s your turn! How did you first hear about the Good News of Jesus? What was it that brought you into a relationship with Him?

The Book of Proverbs, like any sapiential book, is not a book dedicated to teaching the history of the people of Israel, but rather it is a book fundamentally dedicated to the study of the science of wisdom and the spiritual reflection, through the expression of very short and simple phrases. However, this book has certain peculiarities, its author was probably King Solomon, the most important wise of his time, who perhaps not only accumulated in his book that everyday wisdom that makes for a good life, but also, and without expressing it openly, of important thoughts that were the synthesis of many moments in the history of Israel. And a phrase that is not easy to interpret is most likely the synthesis of the story of Joseph, who was one of the sons of Jacob in the Book of Genesis, with his brothers: "When the LORD takes pleasure in anyone's way, he causes their enemies to make peace with them" Proverbs 16:7. The Bible says that Joseph, as a child, had special dreams, which had a divine origin, and this provoked the envy of his brothers, who set a trap for him and sold him as a slave to Egypt, while their father was told that he had died. But through the action of divine providence and his ability to interpret dreams, Joseph managed to reach the pharaoh's court and be named minister of the court, that is, vizier. Joseph pleased God and the Lord protected him spiritually. The Bible ends the story saying that a great famine broke out in the region, and Joseph's brothers had to turn to Pharaoh's court for food. Joseph moved, forgave his brothers and God allowed Joseph to reconcile with his family. The Book of Proverbs with this wise thought instructs on the importance of following the ways of God and that nothing is impossible with God.
