Who's ready for my Master Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss Crepus Theory!!
I originally posted this over at Hoyolab and people there seemed to really like my favorite joke theory that Crepus just tries to gaslight the whole of Mondstadt right after obtaining Kaeya
Majority of this will be the same but with little tweaks for the wonderful tumblr audience
This joke stems from Kaeya's introduction:
Tumblr media
and the use of the word "rumored"
Cause it's not like it said beyond Teyvat or the seven nations just Mondstadt
And I mean like c'mon how many families are living off the grid in Mondstadt
(Actually... Don't answer that I forgot Glory's boyfriend is just
Out there in the bush with Razor...)
Initially I had the idea of Crepus walking around the markets one day carrying Kaeya with Diluc beside him running into Varka who asks:
"Who's the boy?"
"You mean my son?"
"Not Diluc the boy you're carrying"
"I have two sons? You know this??"
But then the Caribert quest came out mentioning Kaeya ran away from home near immediately and was dragged home by Crepus just as fast and it became even funnier
Cause imagine you're by the docks one day and richest man in town gets off the boat with no cargo but instead a tiny child you may not have seen before that Crepus seems to be very cross with at the moment and threatening to turn him into a leash kid if he runs off again
In a small town that loves gossip do you know how fast that information is spreading? Cause I do and Varka's knocking on Crepus's door 30 minutes later like:
"Is this what we're doing? We're just taking kids now?"
Both paths lead to Varka asking where Kaeya comes from and getting hit with a
"I think you're a bit too old to still be confused about the birds and the bees Varka"
Varka getting frustrated to the point he just starts demanding Kaeya tell him what's up
Tumblr media
Love to see him following in his fathers footsteps of stressing Varka the fuck out
And upon hearing how his birth father left for juice and didn't return Varka went
"Good! That was ALL I needed to know!!"
Follow ups on if his father intended to abandon him or got lost in the storm and needed a search party?
Don't care!! You weren't kidnapped!!
Welcome to the knights! 🤝
Which bringing it back to it only being a rumor
In a town of alcoholics, who's gonna call out the one guy with the winery?
Here's some add ons that got sparked from the comment section 😘
Bonus panels would have included Varka showing up with Rosaria one day mimicking Crepus about "wHaT you ForGot I haD a Kid" sparking a trend within the community of just adopting random children to the point posters are made saying "In Barbatos name: See a child Take a child"
Alice seeing it and pulling a "when in rome" tucking both Albedo and Diluc(who is yelling he is an adult) under her arms and telling Klee if she ever sees someone in need of a mom let her know she'll send over the paperwork right away
And then the last bonus: Venti wakes up, walks in through the gate while playing a tune, and stops when he sees the poster, not sure if he needs to start yet another revolution, or if this one is fine actually
I imagine the posters had to be taken down because visitors were losing their kids left and right and the solution of parents pinning a note saying "not dead & still want custody" to their kids shirt didn't catch on but the saying still lives strong in the hearts of Mondstadt's citizens I mean look Bennett and his 27 dads Mondstadt may have a lot of orphans but the demand is even higher
Comment on original post:
"I have a headcanon where Kaeya fooled first Crepus, then the rest of Mondstadt but.this is too funny!! I want to see this happening!"
Which prompted one of my new favorite lines at the end:
"Wait by fool Crepus first do you mean like Crepus finding him out in the storm bringing him inside to ask him where he lives and Kaeya's just
"? I live here? You adopted me? Are you feeling okay?"
Cause I'm absolutely cry laughing over this that's so good but that also means when Kaeya runs away Crepus is just
"hey no no l'm not misplacing you a second time come home" "

Would they have kids with you?
Tumblr media
word count: 909
contents: fluff, a bit suggestive (I think) in Tartaglia's part, GN! Reader, implied pregnancy, afab reader.
characters: Zhongli, Diluc, Childe.
a/n: hello! I'm alive hehe, as I said before: I've been passing through some hard times, not gonna explain too much but everything ended now and things are getting better 💗 I hope I can update more often soon. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
— Zhongli
He never thought too much about it until you brought up the topic in a conversation.
It was just a typical talk in the afternoon, Zhongli counting you about his past as an archon while you attentively listened, he may not usually tell you about those times but if you ask, he can count everything all the days.
The idea of having kids appeared with one of your comments: "so, having more than 5000 years and you have never had offspring?" you asked, it was a genuine question, you'd never thought it would create a dilemma in his mind.
That's right, he has lived a couple of thousand years and never had even one son or daughter, maybe destiny chose that it wasn't the moment until now.
You are his lover, the person he elected to be his partner, and the one he wants to be with until life decides to give it an end.
The idea of a child being the combination of your love made his heart flutter.
"What do you think if I want offspring now?" he looked at you, sitting by his side.
Your amusement was something impossible to hide, "It would be an honor to carry your child, Morax" you said, your eyes fixated on his, full of love.
"I'm glad you are as excited as I am, my love"
His hand softly touched your stomach, fantasizing about the life that will be growing inside of you in the future, the fruit of your love.
— Diluc Ragnvindr
Diluc is a complicated case, surely he had to think about having kids but the trauma with his father would open a new wound: «What if he isn't a good dad?»
His father figure left a big mark that would be hard to overcome, can Diluc be better than him? Maybe not better, merely being like Crepus it's enough, but can he? That question will fill his mind with insecurities, even if he knows that having children is not a priority in the marriage right now, what's going to happen when the moment arrives? The Ragnvindr just tries to leave the subject aside, but his own thoughts betray him, becoming the issue something present in his brain all day.
"Love, are you okay?" your voice interrupted his thoughts.
Both were sitting on the sofa, resting after a long day of work and responsibilities. His gaze turned to you, your worried expression welcoming him in a lovely way, making him feel warm.
"I'm fine, don't worry" the soft touch of his hand ungloved caressed your cheek.
"You look a bit lost, are you sure everything is fine?" the hand now cupped your cheek.
Diluc takes a deep breath, "I've been thinking about… Uhm…" cleared his throat, nervously "What do you think about… Having children?"
His stare maintained fixated on you, waiting for an answer.
"You want kids, 'luc?" your look became softer, feeling butterflies in your stomach.
"Yes, but…" he stopped, feeling the necessity to not express himself, but a gesture of acceptance made by you was enough to make him talk. "I don't think I can be as good as my father" the sadness seized his face.
"You don't have to be as good as him, you're not your father, you are Diluc and you will be a good father, good as Diluc Ragnvindr, the best man I've ever met"
Your eyes shine while a few tears slide down your face, your husband smiles, one of those smiles that he only can show to you, his strong arms surrounding your body, uniting you in a warm hug.
— Tartaglia
Of course he wants to have children with you, it's one of his biggest fantasies, forming a big family with the person he loves.
The plan of having kids in the future is something present in your relationship, at the same time, the fear of what people can do to them is.
Chide has a lot of enemies, not only as a fatui but as one of the eleven, he had gained the hate of people that could do anything to hurt him, even if they have to damage innocent souls to achieve their goal.
Because of that, the idea is just maintained in the air until you bring up one of your thoughts in the conversation. Your partner was so happy telling you about their siblings and the things they have done together, at some point he looked at you, your gaze fixated on him, a little smile accompanied your face while you glimpsed at him in the most lovely way someone has ever done.
"I know I'm good-looking, but you don't have to stare straight at me like that you know?" he joked, and a slight laugh leaves your mouth.
"Childe… I want to have kids" you dropped, he stayed in silence while looking at you in an indecipherable way. "I know it's dangerous, I don't want to put you in that situation but-"
"Really?" interrupted you, "It's the best thing you can tell me" with a big smile hugged you, rising your body with his arms and connecting both foreheads. "Don't worry about anything, as the eleven of the harbingers I would never let someone hurt you or our future kids!" fooled again, the grip on your frame became stronger, his stare sharp in yours like he can see your inner, a filthy smile appeared, "If you want we can start now with our legacy~"

something happens and im head over heels (diluc x reader)
hi hello hi! havent posted in a while so please be gentle with me (i am fragile). feel free to leave a comment, would love to chat with you guys about this little piece
pairing: diluc x gn!reader
characters: diluc, baby!klee, reader, unnamed neighbor
synopsis: diluc is stuck babysitting his neighbor’s baby–the only problem? he isn’t really the babysitting type. good thing you are!
key tags: minor cursing, babyfic, first kiss, clueless diluc, modern!au (technically college era but no mention of college), lowkey punk!diluc
word count: 4109
“I tried calling Jean but she isn’t around and then I phoned Eula but I think I sent her into overdrive at just the thought of babysitting.” You hear Diluc shushing the baby in between words. “What if I just drop her off at the fire station and her mom can pick her up after her shift?”
“Okay–don’t do that.” You shake your head in bewilderment, imagining the absolute shit-show that would be. “You just need to calm down. She’s probably freaking out because you’re freaking out.”
There’s shuffling in the background and Diluc curses when he knocks something over. “She gave me a bag, right?” He continues, his voice laced with pure disconcertment, “And I don’t even know what half of this stuff is. There’s like a bunch of plastic thingies and a bag of powder that kind of looks like meth–”
“Not meth.” You interrupt him. “I mean, probably not meth.”
“That’s not the point,” Diluc emphasizes, “The point is that I’m a fucking loss and really need your help.”
(full story underneath cut)
Tumblr media
Diluc Ragnvindr doesn’t know much about his neighbor. He knows that she’s young, probably in her late 20s or early 30s, and that she’s a single mom to a little baby girl (who has a tendency to wake up in the middle of the night and cry so loudly that it nearly wakes up everybody in their apartment building). He also knows that she works at the local hospital–specifically in the emergency room–and that her mom usually comes around every evening to watch the baby. But other than a simple wave to each other when they simultaneously take the trash out, Diluc doesn’t really know her.
So when she shows up on his doorstep at eight thirty at night with a bundle of pink blankets in her arms and a panicked look across her face, Diluc was, to say the least, surprised.
“Um, you’re Diluc, right?” She stammers nervously, bouncing the baby in her arms. “Crepus’ son?”
Diluc blinks once. Then twice. “Yeah,” He says, “That’s me.”
The woman stares at Diluc for a moment, like she was contemplating everything in her life that had led up to this point, before heaving a desolate sigh. “Is your dad home by any chance?” Her tone suggests she already knows the answers and Diluc catches her anxious eyes darting from him to the vague view of his living room.
“He’s away this weekend. Sorry.”
“Dammit.” His neighbor thinks for a while longer, clicking her tongue against the inside of her mouth a few times before asking, “Have you ever babysat before?”
Diluc holds back a laugh. Babysit? Him? This must have been a life-or-death situation if his sweet neighbor was asking him to watch her daughter. Because, sure, they didn’t know each other but Diluc doesn’t doubt for a moment that she has some assumptions based on his appearance alone.
“Err…isn’t there anyone else you can ask?” Diluc asks awkwardly, his eyes drifting down the apartment hallway as if someone much more suitable for the role is going to pop out.
“Believe me, you’re the last person I would have thought about asking.” His neighbor says nonchalantly and Diluc tries not to take offense. “But there was a bad accident on Route 46 and I was called in to the hospital. My mom is out of town too, otherwise I would have asked her. And–” She gestures to the closed doors lining the long hallway, “–I don’t even think anyone lives in those apartments. At least I know your place is habitable.” She pauses again and her eyes shift down, gazing sadly at the quiet baby in her arms. "It's so hard being a single parent...I barely have any help and just..."
Her voice wavers more and more with each word and it looks like she’s about to start crying. But before she could crack, Diluc huffs quietly and crosses his arms across his chest.
“Okay, okay,” He says exasperatedly. “I’ll watch her. Go save lives. Or whatever.”
His neighbor’s face lights up at his agreement and before Diluc can fully comprehend what's happening, the baby is being shoved in his arms and a black bag full of many things is dropped at his feet. She whirls around, straightening her scrubs, and looks over her shoulder one last time.
“Call the front desk if you need anything!” She calls, blowing a kiss to her daughter.
“Wait!” Diluc yells, a sudden wave of dread washing over him. “Does she need to eat? How do you change a diaper? Does she have a name?”
Ignoring his more-important questions, his neighbor yells back, “Her name is Klee! Thanks again!”
Diluc watches as his neighbor races towards the elevator at the end of the hall, presses a button, and disappears from view. He stares at the empty hallway for a second before the baby in his arms makes a noise–reminding him that, oh yeah, he’s in charge of a baby now.
He turns to look at the baby, his arms tightening around his tiny frame, and mumbles to no one in particular. “What did I get myself into?”
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
Your phone rings four times before you manage to grab it. “I’m coming, I’m coming,” You say to the ringtone before grabbing your cell phone off your bedside table and swiping across the screen without bothering to look at who was calling you. “Hello?”
“Hey. I need your help.”
“Diluc?” You zone in on his voice and immediately pick out exhaustion, agitation, and even a little fear. And the more you listen, the more you notice…a crying baby? “I swear to God, Ragnvindr, if you kidnapped a baby and want me to be your getaway–”
“I didn’t kidnap anything!” Diluc abruptly snaps. “Shit, shit, it’s okay, Klee…” You rub your forehead in confusion as Diluc explains that he’s babysitting for his neighbor. “Fuck–everything was fine for, like, twenty minutes and then she started crying and she hasn’t stopped since! I don’t know what to do!”
You hold back a giggle. Of course notorious ‘bad boy’ Diluc Ragnvindr doesn't know what to do with a crying baby. You aren’t surprised–in fact, you’d be more surprised if he did know what to do.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
When you finally get to Diluc’s apartment, his front door is unlocked so you let yourself inside. You assume your friend has his hands full with the baby anyways.
“Luc?” You ask, wandering into the disaster-zone Diluc calls his living room. Dish rags and bathroom towels are thrown everywhere, there were random baby items all over the floor, and the yellow powder that Diluc thought was meth was spilled on a couch cushion (and upon closer investigation, you realize it’s just baby formula). You snake down the apartment halls until you spot Diluc in the kitchen.
He already looks so spent. His hair is loose from its usual ponytail, locks frizzy and tangled, and his eyes are tired and pleading. He leans against the fridge, bouncing a wailing baby in his arms robotically.
“Hey.” You greet with a teasing smirk. “Nice baby. Where’d you get it?”
“Shut up.” Diluc murmurs, a frown etched deep into his face. Your smirk morphs into a sympathetic smile and you hold your arms expectedly. Diluc doesn’t hesitate to transfer Klee into your embrace and while her cries don't cease entirely, they quiet to a whiny whimper as she tries to process who you are.
“What’s the matter?” You coo sweetly, rubbing Klee’s back with a gentle hand. “Is Diluc being mean and scary?”
“Hey!”
“I'm just kidding.” You laugh briefly and turn your attention back to the baby in your arms, looking for any physical signs of distress–not that you thought Diluc would have ignored them, but he was so frazzled that maybe he missed something. When you adjust Klee against your hip, her face scrunches up in discomfort and she pushes against your chest. You hum in recognition and move her onesie aside to see if there’s a blue stripe on her diaper. And sure enough, there is. “She just needs her diaper changed.”
Diluc pales visibly. “How do I do that?” He fumbles with the hem of his Pearl Jam t-shirt. “Are there instructions on the diaper or something?”
You laugh again and roll your eyes playfully, “I’ll show you.”
Diluc takes Klee from you so you can rummage through the black bag on the floor and pull out a package of wipes and a clean diaper. Diluc watches you in amazement and wonders how someone could be so calm and collected about something that made him want to crawl up the wall. You grab a nearby towel–the cleanest one, to be honest–and lay it on the ground before taking Klee back from Diluc and setting her down on top of it. Your quick fingers unsnap the metal buttons on her onesie and discard the dirty diaper, cleaning Klee up and sliding a fresh diaper underneath her wiggling body.
“See?” You beam, pressing down the sticky sides of the diaper. “Super easy!”
“For you,” Diluc mumbles. He sits on the edge of the couch and watches you interact with Klee like you’ve known her forever. You tap her belly occasionally, enticing a giggle, and the baby kicks her legs excitedly. She was attentive, reaching out towards you and babbling incoherent sentences loudly. She was loud, and a little annoying, but if Diluc was being honest, he was just glad that she wasn’t crying anymore. “When’d you become a baby whisperer?”
You clean up and drag Klee into your lap, letting her play with your sweatshirt strings. “My mom used to watch my cousins,” You explain, “And I guess I picked up on a thing or two.”
Diluc hums in response. Watching you play with Klee made him feel warm. Not a bad warm, but a good warm that filled his stomach with butterflies and made his chest feel weightless. Part of him was totally impressed by you and your ability to swoon over everyone and anyone–including little babies like Klee–unlike himself, who became a quivering mess during the unknown. You kept your cool no matter what. You owned every situation life threw at you so yeah, Diluc was totally impressed.
But even more than that, Diluc is glad that you gave him the time of day. You could have brushed him off, could have told him to figure it out, but you went out of your way to drive across town and hold a baby–a stranger’s baby, even–just because he asked.
“You know…” You voice grabs Diluc’s attention again and he gazes down at the floor where you’re sitting. “I was supposed to go out with Itto Arataki tonight. But I canceled our date to come here.”
Diluc holds back the urge to roll his eyes. “Yeah?” He says instead.
He knows Itto Arataki back from high school–though they were never particularly friends. He was captain of the football team and had a 2.3 GPA and drove the most obnoxious and ugly muscle car in town. Diluc didn’t care for him then, doesn’t care for him now, and the more he thinks about your potential date with him, the more a feeling of irritation grows in the pit of his stomach.
“Yeah,” You say casually. You face Diluc and silently mimic packing and rolling a joint in the air. “He was going to give me a free eighth.”
Diluc stifles a laugh, “What a steal.” He doesn’t particularly care to hear about how you were going to smoke with Itto (because–you could smoke with him instead). “You could have gone if you wanted to.”
You shrug, “And miss out on hanging with my best friend, Klee?” You tickle her feet and blow on the top of her head before looking at Diluc again. “This is ten times more fun than hanging out with Itto Arataki, anyways.”
Diluc raises an eyebrow, “You’re kidding.”
You shake your head adamantly. “Nope. I’d much rather spend time with you than the idiot who only graduated because his daddy threatened to press legal action against every single teacher at that school.” For a moment, Diluc wonders if you even know what you’re saying, wonders if you realize that you just prioritized Diluc Ragnvindr–the same Diluc Ragnvindr who pierced his own ears at fourteen and sells his extra Adderall to college freshman–over Itto Arataki–the hero of your hometown. He’s about to ask if you have your head screwed on right but before he could open his mouth, Klee starts fussing again.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
As the night progresses, you and Diluc come to four conclusions about one another:
Diluc is absolutely terrible with children.
You are absolutely amazing with children.
Diluc can’t stop imagining you with a different baby, maybe one with fiery red hair that kind of resembles you, and keeps shaking his head violently to disperse the invasive thought.
And you think Diluc is acting really weird because he won’t stop shaking his head. You just hope he doesn’t have lice or something. Ew.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
“She cries a lot.” Diluc comments when Klee curls her head into the crook of your neck, angry whines leaving her mouth. You frown slightly, swaying back and forth. “Do you think she’s hungry?”
“Maybe,” You shrug, moving over to the black bag and sorting through it with one hand. “Does she just take a bottle? Or does she eat solids? Do you even know how old she is?” Diluc blinks at you, not having an answer to any of your questions. “Right. Okay. One night off her routine won’t hurt.”
You carry the bag of formula–at least whatever was left in the bag–and an empty carafe to the kitchen and somehow manage to put together a bottle for Klee with one hand, all while Diluc stands back and watches. He wants to help, really, but feels like he’ll just be in the way more than anything. Klee cries more until you push the rubber tip into her mouth, but she only bothers to drink half of the bottle before she lets it slip from her mouth and pushes it away with her little hands.
Sighing, you pass Diluc the half-empty bottle. You bounce Klee in your arms for a few minutes, pat her on the back, and try to make her laugh, but to no avail–she won’t stop crying. “Maybe…she’ll calm down with some music?”
“How would I know?”
“I don’t know! Just put something on.”
Diluc grumbles something and heads into the living room, connecting his phone to the speaker. He scrolls through his Spotify playlists and clicks on a random one and hits shuffle. Heavy rock music fills the apartment and the opening chords to Enter Sandman start. You’re about to yell at Diluc for putting on such rowdy music for a baby but Klee only hiccups and turns towards the living room, her eyes wide and curious.
“No way.” You laugh breathlessly, carrying Klee to the living room. Diluc’s eyes glimmer with elation and he jumps up, grabbing Klee’s tiny hands in his big ones and singing the words to her, finally eliciting a smile from the baby.
Enter Sandman fades into Shout It Out Loud. “Well, the night’s begun and you want some fun.” Diluc taps Klee’s nose. “Did you think you’re gonna find it?” He taps her cheeks. “You gotta treat yourself like number one.” He taps her forehead. And next thing you know, Diluc has Klee in his arms and is bouncing around the living room, whirling her around in circles and dipping her up and down. “Shout it, shout it, shout it out loud!”
It was your turn to sit back and watch–as warmth spread throughout your chest.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
After an hour of dancing around the living room, Klee yawns.
It’s then that Diluc realizes his apartment isn’t really set-up for a baby. Fortunately, Klee isn’t walking yet but she is crawling, which means you and Diluc are constantly pulling chargers or wires out of her mouth. It also means that Diluc doesn’t have a crib, or anything remotely close to a crib.  Maybe you could just hold her all night. Or maybe Diluc could put a blanket down in the kitchen sink and lay Klee in there or maybe…
“How many pillows do you have?”
Diluc cocks his head to the side. “What?”
“I said,” You repeat, drawing out the vowels, “How many pillows do you have? On second thought, just grab all of them and meet me in your room.”
Diluc cocks his head again, to the other side this time, and watches as you saunter down the hallway and kick open the door to his bedroom, carrying Klee inside. If it was any other night, Diluc might even throw a fit about you barging into his sacred space–but he was too exhausted to put up a fight tonight. Instead, he gathers all of the pillows from the living room, hall closet, and bedrooms.
By the time Diluc gets to you, you’re already busy doing whatever you had planned. You fluff the pillows on Diluc’s bed and lay them on either side of Klee, making sure they’re tight and secure. You take the other pillows from Diluc and finish up your makeshift barricade around the baby.
“There!” You beam proudly. “She won’t be able to roll over with all the pillows.”
Shit. You were really good at this. And here Diluc was, ready to put her in the sink.
Diluc stands stiffly in the middle of his bedroom as you run around like a headless chicken. You shut the blinds so the moonlight won’t seep through the window and turn off the floor lamp in the corner. The bedroom is veiled in darkness until you turn on a nightlight (which, in all fairness, Diluc totally forgot he owned) and a warm glow embraces the space.
Klee is fighting sleep. She wants to sleep, desperately, but her body doesn’t, and she whines uncomfortably. You sit on the edge of the bed and pat the empty spot next to you, urging Diluc to fill it. “What’s wrong?” Diluc asks–the question directed at Klee and you.
You smile softly, “She just needs some help falling asleep.”
“Um…” Diluc says, his awkwardness coming back. “Like a blanket or something?”
Without much thought, you say, “Why don’t you sing to her again?”
This catches Diluc off guard. Sure, he took choir in high school and never turned down a drunken karaoke session but singing underneath a loud metal song was very different from singing a lullaby in a silent bedroom. He didn’t want to traumatize the poor child.
“Come on,” You plead sweetly. “She loved your voice so much before…I’m sure it would lull her right to sleep.” Diluc feels his face grow warm and he looks away, not sure how to handle the compliment. He’s extremely thankful for the darkness of the bedroom that conceals his cherry-red cheeks from you.
Diluc composes himself enough to look back at you. He’s about to protest again but his voice jams in his throat when he realizes how close he is to you. Your faces are only inches apart and all Diluc had to do was lean forward and–
Klee cries out again, this time louder, and Diluc clears his throat. “Yeah, um, fine,” He manages, “But you can’t tell anyone. Especially my brother.” You make a ‘zipped and locked’ motion and Diluc twists his body so he’s facing Klee. She kicks her legs angrily, her tiny fists hands curl into fists and before Diluc really knows what’s doing, his voice leaves his mouth delicately. “I wanted to be with you alone and talk about the weather…but traditions I can trace against the child in your face.”
You can’t hide the smile that grows across your face. Diluc hates Tears for Fears, thought they were sellouts who made music for teenage girls who wanted to be different, yet here he was–singing their most popular song to an innocent little baby.
“Something happens and I’m head over heels. I never find out ‘till I'm head over heels.”
You sit back and listen. Klee is quiet now, an occasional coo leaves her lips, and you’re positive that she’s going to fall asleep any minute. So Diluc keeps singing, perfecting the song word-for-word until there’s no more lyrics to say and a sleeping baby. And secretly you’re a little bummed out–you could listen to Diluc sing forever.
But, alas, the bedroom is filled with a gentle silence and you reach across the bed to make sure the pillows are still secure before standing up and stretching your arms. And when the realization finally hits Diluc that he had just sung a baby to sleep, he wants to jump up and fistbump the air as hard as he could. He wasn’t as bad with babies as he thought and this was living proof.
“I did that!” Diluc exclaims in a hushed-whisper. He grins at you, the kind of smile that reaches his eyes and wrinkles his nose. “I got that baby to fucking sleep all by myself! God, I feel like I can do anything right now–”
Diluc doesn’t get to finish his sentence. In fact, he doesn’t even get to finish his thought. Because, in a matter of mere seconds, you’re dipping down towards Diluc on the bed and holding his face oh-so gently and crashing your lips together. And as cliche as it sounds, Diluc swears time stops.
You pull away first, your eyes big and wide. “Oh my god,” You whispered. “Luc, I just–”
“Oh.” Diluc says in a breath of air. He sits back on his hands and stares at you. He feels like his entire body is on fire.
“I’m sorry,” You continue. “I don’t know what came over me.”
“It’s fine,” Diluc nods. “Just…”
He reaches a slender finger up and runs it across his bottom lip. You keep staring at him with utter shock written across your face and Diluc partially wants to remind you that you’re the one that kissed him. But his mouth refuses to move, refuses to speak, so he sits there in silence.
“Did you hate it?
Diluc hesitates before shaking his head, “No.”
“Good,” You say quietly. “Good.”
Diluc feels the bed dip again and you sit next to him. Your knees knock against his and when he doesn’t pull away, you take that as an invitation to lean in again. Diluc’s hand cups your jaw and everything feels fuzzy. You kiss like a champion, as expected, and Diluc kisses like each one is his last. Your mouths fit together like puzzle pieces and it’s enough to course electricity through your veins.
When he needs air, Diluc pulls back enough to press his forehead against yours. “What are you doing?” He asks solemnly.
“Kissing you,” You say–like it’s the most obvious answer in the world.
Obviously it goes deeper than that. Because you kissed Ayato and you kissed Thoma and Childe and Itto Arataki and, well, not Diluc. Except you were. You were kissing Diluc in his dark bedroom while his neighbor’s baby slept on his bed surrounded by pillows. And it was fucking mental.
And confusing. And overwhelming. And Diluc doesn’t really know how to have a single coherent thought about it.
“Hey,” You urged, “What’s the matter?”
Diluc closes his eyes so he doesn't have to look at yours staring into his soul. “I don’t know,” He admits. “Everything and nothing.” And this was true. His mind feels like a jumbled mess of broken records and no matter how hard he tries to put them together, nothing would play. He eventually equates it to getting hooked on a book he thought he would hate, and how surprised he is that he’s really into the book, but it’s too late to put it down and really needs to see how it ends. “Kiss me again.”
You do.
“Again.”
You keep kissing Diluc experimentally, like you’re trying to work your way up towards something. You kiss him until your lips are swollen and your jaws hurt and then some.
“I’ve wanted to do that for so long,” You finally tell him.
“Really?” Diluc asks and you nod.
In the darkness of his bedroom, Diluc smiles. Kissing you doesn't necessarily mean anything. But it doesn’t not mean anything, either. Though he hopes it evolves past the darkness. At least one day.
And, knowing you, Diluc has a good feeling that it would. And hopefully without a baby in the room.
a/n: no promises i won't delete this but for now--enjoy <3

: ̗̀➛ kaeya as a parent
ft. kaeya, diluc, crepus and jean are briefly mentioned
wc. 0.5k
cw. intentional lowercase ; unedited ; very minor spoilers for the secret summer paradise event ; kinda spoilers for kaeya’s backstory?
an. i fully blame the kaeya and klee content for this brainrot.
disclaimer; this is a restart of a previous blog of the same name. all works published are my own.
Tumblr media
✦ okay so
✦ kaeya as a parent
✦ i feel like when he first got the news that he was gonna be a dad
✦ either through pregnancy or adoption, we don’t exclude
✦ he would be quite nervous at first but would cover it up with false confidence
✦ because he doesn’t really like to be seen as vulnerable
✦ but he’d also be really excited since he never really thought he’d get to be a father
✦ i’d say that it’s kinda canon that kaeya is good with kids
✦ i mean, have you seen him with klee?
✦ my heart hurts every time they interact
✦ when it comes time to teach his child
✦ he’d be super super patient!
✦ and teach them in a way that they can understand, but also wouldn’t baby them too much
✦ he’d also be a very gentle parent
✦ strict when it comes to his child’s safety, but would let them get hurt since it is an important step of growing up
✦ (of course, he’d keep a close eye and make sure his kid wouldn’t get dangerously hurt, but a scuffed knee or elbow isn’t the end of the world)
✦ kaeya would probably patch up the child while asking them to explain why they got hurt and how to prevent it from happening in the future
✦ he still has his knightly duties, which take him away from his kid and partner, which he hates
✦ but if he has to go to a different region, he’d probably try bring back a small souvenir or trinket as an apology for being gone
✦ having a kid would be another excuse for kaeya to get out of his knightly duties though, much to jean’s exasperation
✦ klee would be such an awesome older sister
✦ as long as no bombs are involved
✦ he would probably get so much joy over watching klee interacting with his child :(
✦ he would be at his child’s side as soon as possible if they were crying or upset
✦ may not know exactly how to comfort them and may leave that to his partner if they’re better at comforting that he is
✦ but he’s always willing to lend a listening ear and give cuddles
✦ kaeya would also be really good when it comes to playing with his kid
✦ he’d take up any role he was given with pride, and it’s obvious he’s a good actor
✦ i think he’d actually get so involved that he’d forget he was playing with a child that probably got bored half an hour in
✦ he’d also be very good at telling stories
✦ i’m sure he has a lot of them from his adventures
✦ he’d obviously make them slightly more fantasy-like and less realistic since some things can be scary for younger kids
✦ but he has to draw inspiration from somewhere
✦ he’d probably tell his kids about their uncle diluc and grandfather crepus
✦ even though obviously crepus isn’t around to be a grandfather, and him and diluc are basically estranged
✦ but his kids will know about their awesome family
✦ and if they really wanted to, he’d let them have a relationship with diluc since i don’t think he’d be the type to let his own poor relationship stop his kid from knowing their family
✦ all in all, whilst kaeya has his faults (who doesn’t)
✦ he’d be a really good father
✦ and want to give his kid the best childhood possible

Omg omg omg omg guess whose back? Back again? Dizzy's back. To spam his friend. Okay but like deadass I want to know your most significant angst Hcs. Literally any characters just what have you really thought about with who cause I know I've got a list of them for pretty much every character so I wanna know ur favs. Give me yummy angst I'm hungry.
🍓Genshin Favs Angst Headcanons🍓
Wooooo!!! You have submitted a GOOD ask buddy. This post will include:
Kaeya Alberich
Diluc Ragnvindr
Il Dottore
Tartaglia
I have more favorites than this, but these are the guys I’m always thinking about.
Warnings: familial death, depression, alcoholism, descriptions of s/h, mentions of internalized homophobia and transphobia, and general violence.
❄️Kaeya Alberich❄️
This isn’t even a headcanon, I’m pretty sure it’s very heavily said in the game- Kaeya’s an alcoholic. And that suave personality of his? I really think it’s just a front.
I see Kaeya has having some serious battles with depression. It takes quite a lot of energy to uphold that smooth façade, leaving him feeling unable to do anything but drink and sleep.
I think Kaeya has a horrible time even just getting up in the morning. Like, it physically hurts him to think about. In the mornings he’ll feel such hopelessness and dread that, again, it just hurts.
I think Kaeya is also deeply hurt by how cold he and Diluc are to each other. Diluc is too, of course, but more on that later. He feels abandoned by Crepus, even though he’s aware that it wasn’t his father’s fault he died.
I also think Kaeya was envious of Diluc and Crepus, even if his father loved the boys the same. Crepus was Diluc’s biological dad- something Kaeya also wanted to have.
Not as angsty as everything else, but Kaeya’s always cold because of his cryo vision :(
Another small one- Kaeya has really textured hair imo. But due to his lack of self care, his hair gets matted often. He’s already tender headed, so combing through it hurts bad. He can hardly bring himself to care for it by the time it’s so matted. Not just because of the pain in his scalp, but because of the pure and utter shame it brings. He couldn’t even gather the strength to do something as basic as brush his hair- how weak could he possibly be?
This is a lot more specific to my au but I’ll try and keep it generally related to the actual game. Kaeya knows both his brother and his spouse are trans and is fully supportive. He supports any queer person in Mondstadt. When it came to realizing he himself was gay, though, it was a bloody internal battle. I’m glad to say he was able to accept himself quickly and live happily with his husband <3.
🔥Diluc Ragnvindr🔥
I think, as the Darknight Hero, Diluc’s an extremely reckless fighter. He’s covered in scars from fatui and abyss mage attacks, but also burns. His hands specifically are burnt to the point of nerve damage in his hands.
He hides these burns with his gloves. This is also why he leaves bartending to his employees- it’s hard to not drop the glasses and spill the drinks due to the damage.
He doesn’t ever pay much mind to his injuries and hardly goes to the hospital when he should. He prioritizes his mission as the Darknight Hero over his own safety. Perhaps he just wants to carve a meaning into his life, feeling as though he lacks one.
Diluc is not one who is good at handling complicated feelings. Quite honestly, Crepus’s death hasn’t exactly registered to him. Obviously he knows it’s happened, and he grieved, but… he just pushes it so far down. He’s easily irritated by the topic of Crepus.
This irritation becomes evident whenever Kaeya tries to talk about their father, even though it’s always in a fond manner. In general, discussions between the brothers end in screaming and shouting.
Diluc doesn’t hate Kaeya, though, it’s quite the opposite. Diluc frets a lot over his little brother. His lack of emotional tact, and Kaeya’s unwillingness to open up, just keeps driving the brothers farther apart.
Diluc is trans. Of course this isn’t an angsty headcanon within itself! Rather, I want to talk about the things that can come with it. I like to think Mondstadt is generally a very accepting nation (I choose to think all of teyvat is, really). But once in a while, a drunkard in the bar will make a nasty comment towards this fact. He acts as if these comments mean nothing but it bothers him deeply.
Actually, Diluc feels insecure about being a “real man” quite often. It’s a pretty persistent bother. I’m glad to say though, at the end of the day, Diluc is proud and confident of who he is :3
🧪Il Dottore🧪
Dottore’s backstory isn’t really in the game atp (except for Zandik’s legacy, except it’s not even canonically stated to be Dottore so who really knows at the end of the day?? I def think it’s him tho), but I have my own theories. I feel like Dottore definitely had a horrible childhood. Was he probably kicked out of his village for a good reason? Yea. But still. I can’t help but imagine he had no one to care for him, therefor harboring his bad tendencies.
By the time he got to the Akademiya, I think he was also bullied pretty badly. This worsened his hatred towards people and made him even more of a shut-in.
Dottore is just tired all the time and I mean TIRED. It’s a miracle he’s even functioning.
I don’t have much for Dottore atm… sorry!
🫧Tartaglia🫧
Tartaglia is really struggling while in the fatui. Sometimes, he’s really zoned out. He’s good at keeping up that charming and energetic front for jobs, sure, but if you know him personally or just see him around Zapolyarny palace, he’ll seem like a totally different person. He seems to be… remembering the things he’s seen and done.
Sometimes, he’s totally angry and freaking out. He has a hard time controlling his emotions, all of which seem to appear as anger. This always ends with him breaking something, hurting someone, or even hurting himself. These tantrums are triggered by even the smallest things. I really think he has a ton of resentment, despair, and fear bubbling underneath the surface, resulting in seemingly random breakdowns.
I don’t think Tartaglia really enjoys the fatui. When he crawled out of the abyss, he was a scared, vulnerable young boy. I don’t think he could process what he experienced at the time- I don’t think he can nowadays, either- and I think the fatui used this to their advantage. To try and make him better harbinger material, they stunted his recovery by saying what he went through wasn’t that bad, it was just something that strengthened him. They brushed off any possible mental degradation as him just “being weak” and “needing to be stronger”. He doesn’t realize any of this.
I think that contributes to his need to train more and grow stronger. His over-exertion with battling, and focus on physical pain is a way for him to ignore the mental anguish he’s truly in.
Beyond losing the light in his eyes, I think Tartaglia’s entire face changed. Obviously he grew up, and that changes people’s face, but I mean in a different way. His cheeks are sunken in, his eyes even more so. Around his eyes and the tip of his nose were constantly discolored and red. His lips were chapped and bloody. He seemed tired, even with that fun mask he put on. Honestly he lacks a lot of self care. He wants to focus on his strength rather than such “small matters”. He honestly looks… pretty fucking terrifying, even inhuman when he’s violent. It’s sort of the way a shell-shocked soldier will look different when he returns from war.
About him ending up hurting himself. I think he’ll just grab at any part of himself and scratch and squeeze, resulting in jagged cuts and bruises. He has to take his anger out on something physical. If his anger is directed at another person, when he was a younger man, he’d just hurt them. As he grew, he just broke things around him instead, screaming and shouting all the while. He regrets this every time it happens. He doesn’t know why he lacks control.
All in all, Tartaglia is a deeply troubled individual who’s been manipulated into believing he is fine. He’s been lied to and told his job is a great thing for the world. Maybe one day, he’ll snap out of it and realizes he needs to leave.

Kaeya Prince of Khaenri’ah
Happy birthday baby 😚
(Listen if he doesn’t end up canonically being the prince then just consider this an AU. It already kinda is but… um… I suck at wording.)
“The prince of Khaenri’ah will be arriving in Mondstadt tomorrow for trade negotiations.” Grand Master Varka explains to Jean, Lisa, Amber, Diluc, Eula, Albedo, Noelle, Klee, and you. “I want all of you to be on your best behavior.”
“He means you and Klee.” Diluc looks over to you.
“Hey! That’s not entirely fair. I’ve been keeping Klee out of trouble for months.”
“Yeah! Miss Knight and I have been very good! I haven’t bothered big brother Albedo, I haven’t blown up any fish, and no one’s got mad at me and dodoco.”
Varka kneels down to Klee. “We’re all very proud of you for that Klee but you need to be extra good okay? Mondstadt needs Khaenri’ah to help us out.”
“Okay, Master Varka! Can me and miss Knight go fishing now?”
Varka sighs and and smiles at her. “Okay, just be careful and don’t blow up anything.”
“Come on you little pyromaniac. Let’s go get some fish.”
“Yay!” Klee cheers and pulls you out of the Knights HQ.
You two make your way down the street towards the front entrance of the city. On you walk you see a stranger at good Hunter. He had blue hair; tan skin; pants, boots, fingerless gloves, and a corset (all black); a short blue vest; a white shirt; and a fur collar with a cape attached.
“Hmm, what should I get? Excuse me, I don’t mean to bother a beautiful woman but do you perhaps have any wine?” He asks Sara.
“Oh, no, I’m sorry. We don’t serve wine here.”
“Oh that’s unfortunate. I suppose it’s made up for by the fact that a stunning, kind, woman works here.”
“Well aren’t you a charmer.” Sara smiles at him.
“I just try to make people’s day.”
“Excuse me!” You and Klee walked over to the man. He turns around and he has a beautiful blue left eye and his right eye is covered by his bangs. His face over all is ethereal. “Um, I, Angel’s Share is known for its immaculate wine. The Cat’s Tail also has some great choices of Alcohol apparently, I don’t usually drink but Crepus does enjoy their drinks.” You blush as this gorgeous man smiles at you.
“Crepus? The owner of Angel’s Share and the Dawn Winery?”
“Yeah, I helped him escape a Fatui Ambush a few years ago at his son’s birthday party.”
“Interesting, so you know the Ragvindrs?”
“Kinda, Diluc and I trained together to become knights. He’s very strong and incredibly and Crepus is so proud. I’ve only met the older Ragvindr a handful of times but he’s been like a father to me.”
“Hm, you and this Diluc must be a very happy couple.”
“Ew! Miss Knight would never be with that weirdo!”
“Klee! Sorry about her. I try to teach her to be nice to the other knights. Diluc and I have a friendly rivalry so we send jabs back and forth and Klee can sometimes be defensive of me.” You smile politely at the cute stranger.
“She’s very cute. Though she looks bit old to be your daughter.” Klee starts tugging on your sleeve.
“Oh no, she’s not mine. I’m more of a nanny. I’m sorry to cut this short but Klee and I were heading to starfell lake.”
“That sounds like a good time.”
“Yeah, she likes catching fish and I sit and watch her to make sure she doesn’t hurt herself. Maybe you’d like to join us.”
“I would actually, thank you. It would be my pleasure to entertain a woman as radiant and stunning as you. For all the stars beauty could never compare to the shining light of your eyes.” He takes your hand and kisses your knuckles. Your heart is thumping wildly in your chest.
During the afternoon you three play at the shore of starfell lake. Well Klee and dodoco play, you and this stranger (who you learn is named Kaeya) talk about life and your interests. He is an incredible charming man.
“Wait so this Diluc guy got his vision on his 18th birthday?”
“Yep, because he helped saved his dad. I don’t want to brag but I did get my vision before him.”
“So you mentioned before that you’re a knight. What’s that like?”
“Well I’m the cavalry captain so I manage funds for the horses. I could take you to meet my horse Marshal. How long do you plan to stay in Mondstadt for? I’ll be busy this week because the prince of Khaenri’ah is visiting but maybe on my lunch break I could introduce you to be noble steed.”
“I’d love to meet Marshal. Oh wow it’s getting late. I should head back. I’ll see you tomorrow miss Cavalry Captain.” He kisses your knuckles again and walks off.
“I call dibs on being the flower girl!” Klee shouts and you blush fiercely at the implication.
——
The next morning you get up and clean your, get on a professional but still combat oriented dress, and made breakfast then rushed off to work.
As you got to the front hall where the other knights were waiting, you joined Diluc and Lisa in the corner.
“Attention! Knights, I’d like to introduce to you all Kaeya Alberich, the prince of Khaenri’ah and his personal guard Dainsleif.” Varka announces.
You look over in shock and see the man from yesterday. He was dressed head to toe in whites and blues. White pants and shoes, a dark blue vest, light blue shirt and jacket with white fur on the bottom trim. He was decked out in sapphires, and his right eye was showing. It was a dazzling glowing gold. He’s so pretty.
Oh yeah and there was a blue eyed blondie in black and blue armor next to him.
—
During lunch he came to your office and knocked on your door. “Hey cute stuff.”
“Hey stranger, or would you like me to call you ‘your highness’?”
(A/n: you guys don’t even know how tempted I am to have Kaeya say “I’d rather you call me your boyfriend.”)
“Kaeya is fine. Varka told me that you were on lunch break so I thought that we could go see Marshal. If you’re not busy, I understand if you are.”
“I’d love to entertain a handsome charming man.” You smirk as you turn his words from yesterday on him. You pull him along and he starts idle conversation with you.
“You have no idea how many times Dain had to stop me from mentioning you.”
“I’m flattered.”
“Well it’s not every day that I see someone who can rival the Archons beauty.”
“You flatter me too much.”
You bring him to meet a white horse with brown spots around one eye and more sporadically around his back. “Hi Marshal!” You pet him.
“He’s adorable.” Kaeya smiles. “Can I ask you something crazy?”
“Go ahead.”
“Will you be my girlfriend? Or at least let me take you out for dinner?”
“I’d love to go on a date with my new boyfriend.” You say as you grab his hands and pull him into a short but intimate peck on the lips which he returns.

Wrote a follow up to some Genshin Impact Ragbro angst I wrote a while back (you don’t have to read the other one first though this one is good to stand alone)
***
Kaeya took another swig directly from the bottle. It hadn’t been this bad in a while. And of course it had to be today.
Today. Diluc’s birthday. The anniversary of the death of the closest thing Kaeya could remember to a father.
Earlier that day, Kaeya had decided to join Outrider Amber on a routine patrol of the Mondstadt countryside, just to… get away from everything at home. He didn’t need Jean’s sad glances at him, making sure he was okay. He didn’t need anyone making a big deal over his feelings. And he certainly didn’t need to see Diluc.
About halfway through their patrol, Kaeya and Amber encountered a small patrol from Springvale. Upon hearing that the patrol was searching for a father and son who had gone missing, the two set to searching. And they found them.
A small group of hilichurls had attacked the small family. The father, while not an accomplished warrior by any means, had used his hunting bow to fight back. He actually held his own well enough to drive off the hilichurls, but the wounds he had sustained were still too much. When Kaeya and Amber found the scene, the father lay dead in the young son’s arms as the son cried silently.
Amber ran in to help, to comfort the child, anything. But Kaeya was paralyzed. The scene was familiar to him. Viscerally, uncomfortably familiar. He and Diluc had been much older when it happened, but… This was still like a mirror image for him. It took him back in a flash to the day it had happened, when he had arrived too late to help his father, to help his brother. To the night after, where the last family he had left had struck out against him, leaving him with a Vision and a broken heart.
Amber had noticed Kaeya’s distress, and in a moment of silent understanding, she had simply nodded at him, as if to say, “it’s okay if you need to go. I’ve got this.”
And now here he was. Kneeling in front of Crepus’s grave, on the Dawn Winery property, with a half empty bottle of dandelion wine clutched in his fist and tears streaming down his face. *Imagine how furious Diluc would be if he found me here,* Kaeya thought, before choking out a mirthless laugh. Who cared what Diluc thought? He couldn’t prevent Kaeya from mourning his father. Their father.
Kaeya lifted the bottle and drank again, deeply. And then he cried some more. And sooner or later, the time seemed to slip away, and the bottle seemed to empty, and all sense left Kaeya’s mind.
***
Kaeya felt his body being shaken roughly, and an anxious voice calling his name. He slowly cracked his eyes, internally wincing at the throbbing in his head.
As his eyes opened, Kaeya saw a blurry figure above him, a man in formal wear with long red hair tied back. Still disoriented from the alcohol, Kaeya laughed, and said, “Oh, good, it’s you, Diluc, help me out, Dad’s gonna be pissed if he finds out I’ve been drinking again—“
He was interrupted as Diluc threw him back to the ground, knocking the wind out of him. “What, is that supposed to be some kind of sick joke?” he asked, barely contained fury in his voice.
The shock of hitting the ground had jogged Kaeya’s memory, and he felt himself remembering when it was, what had happened. “Diluc… I’m sorry, okay? Today’s been hard, and I’ve been drinking, and I just…”
“Forgot?” Diluc scoffed. “How I wish I could forget what happened so easily.” He turned his back to Kaeya and started to walk away.
Kaeya bit his lip, unsure of what to say. “I could never really forget. Not really. Please believe that of me, at least. I’m just… not handling the memories very well this year, if I’m being honest.”
With his back still turned, Diluc clenched his fists in anger. Unable to hold it back anymore, he turned back. “Why is it I’m supposed to keep it together, to be strong, but YOU’RE allowed to fall apart like this? YOU’RE the one living up to everything Father wanted for us!” Diluc shouted.
Kaeya glared back, tears beginning to roll again down his cheeks. “Everything Father wanted, like his own son trying to kill me? I became a knight not to best you, but because Jean cared for me when you wouldn’t! I lost a father that night too, Diluc. Except for me, it was the second time.”
Diluc laughed and said with a bitter edge to his voice, “Oh, you’re referring to your first father, the one who left you in our midst as a Khaen’rian spy? And you came to me after the death of MY father to tell me all about how you were placed here to undermine us if Mondstadt ever went to war with—“
“SHUT UP!” Kaeya screamed. Between the ragged sobs that racked his body and tore at his throat, he choked out, “Diluc… how could you not understand? When I came to you that night. To tell you of my true origins. I wasn’t telling you I was there to betray you. I was telling you because I needed you to know I’d chosen Mondstadt, the family who took me in and raised me, over Khaen’riah, and the father who left me alone in Master Crepus’s grape fields. But I couldn’t get that out. Before I could even explain to you what my true feelings were, you, my brother, the ONE person in Mondstadt I trusted deeply enough to share my darkest secret. You turned your blade on me. And at that moment, I lost the last of the family I had. Can you fucking BLAME ME, Diluc? Can you blame me for running, for not trusting, for hiding every fucking part of myself again, for falling apart? And now I come to you, and I just want my brother back. And you tell me I have no reason to be upset? Diluc, please… I’m… too miserable to let pride stand in my way, and I’m too drunk to care. I’m begging you to just try to understand how I’m feeling…”
Diluc turned away from Kaeya. It was always hard for him to show vulnerability to anyone, even as a child, back when it was easier to trust Kaeya. But what he had just heard, from the man he once called his brother, shook him. How had he never stopped to consider how Kaeya had felt? Diluc, too, now felt tears rolling down his cheeks. “Kaeya. I’m…”
Diluc took a deep breath to steady himself. “It’s cold outside and you’ve been drinking. You don’t want to make yourself sick. Let’s head back to the winery. Adelinde will make your old room up. Let’s each take some time to rest and process everything, and… we can talk things out in the morning. Okay, Kaeya?”
Kaeya nodded. “Y-yeah. You’re right. This is too sudden. We both need time to process.”
As they walked back to the winery, Kaeya muttered, “Hey Diluc?… Thanks.”
Diluc simply grunted and rolled his eyes. But he had to turn his head away to hide a smile.

While Bennett's Vision acquisition doesn't go as differently from canon as Kaeya's in the Adventurer Kaeya AU, I was kicking the framing circumstances around first while barnsitting this weekend and then with @theabysscomeshome this afternoon, and sketched out something that... kind of matches what I wrote here! I'm being deliberately vague and squishy with ages, but for some clarity, Kaeya is an older teenager and just well behind Diluc and Jean here because he did not have Crepus' tutoring resources for the non-combat parts of the knight trials, while Bennett... was supposed to be a little younger than his voice here ended up sounding. I am bad at writing children. ;; But we don't have actual canon on the age gap anyway, right?
(Also I half-assed a lot of this because I was mostly writing it for the last scene anyway. >> That is the freedom of banging these out as Tumblr one-offs instead of trying to write a longer coherent fic!)
---
ETA: now available on AO3.
---
"Oof!" Bennett hits the ground harder than he thinks Kaeya had expected, twisting his ankle as he ducks away from Kaeya's unexpected back-strike and overbalancing.
Kaeya drops his sword and rushes over to help Bennett up, kneeling down and letting Bennett lean on his shoulder as he prods at the injured ankle. "Whoops. I didn't mean to knock you all the way over."
"It's okay," Bennett assures him, testing the ankle and wincing when he puts his weight on it. "Um, mostly. But I can walk on it!"
He lets go of Kaeya and takes a step to demonstrate, wincing again but refusing to falter. Picking up his sword, he limps over to the side of the Guild's practice ring, where a couple of their dads are watching. He's going to have to be done for today.
"Sorry," Kaeya says, grabbing his own sword and following after. "Not a bad move, though, was it?"
"It was great! I didn't see it coming at all."
"You've been practicing that one on your own, haven't you?" one of their dads asks, looking thoughtfully at Kaeya. "You didn't get it from any of us."
"No. It's… something I remembered seeing my father do once or twice." Kaeya's voice goes quiet, the way it always does when he mentions his old dad, the one who dumped him. Not that he likes to admit that--it's one of the only things he'll get angry at Bennett about, if Bennett slips up and calls it dumping--but their dads have all said so at some point or another. "I thought it might be a useful trick to pull out next week at the knight trials."
"Well, you should try it on someone full-sized, and not a little shrimp like Benny," another of their dads says, clapping Kaeya on the shoulder with a grin. "Come on, let's go a couple rounds."
"Okay," Kaeya says, and follows their dad back out into the ring.
"Hey, Benny, you want a better view?" Without waiting for an answer, his nearest dad scoops Bennett up and sets him on the wall around the ring, then hops up to sit beside him, one hand on Bennett's back to make sure he won't fall backward.
Normally Bennett would enjoy the high-up view, but the moment Kaeya had mentioned the knight trials his good mood at seeing his big brother pull off such a cool move had plummeted. This is going to be the third time Kaeya goes for them, because he's determined to be a knight. Not an adventurer like their dads, even though that's so much better. And Bennett knows there's no way he'd ever make the knight trials even if he wanted to be a knight, which he doesn't. He doesn't understand why Kaeya wants it so badly.
"If he fails the trials this time, do you think he'll give up?" he asks quietly, leaning into his dad's side. He doesn't mean for that to come out hopeful, but he can't hide that he's kind of wishing for it.
"Maybe, maybe not," his dad says, looking down at him. "That's up to Kaeya. You know how badly he wants to succeed."
"Yeah," Bennett says despondently.
"You know he won't be any less your big brother if he becomes a knight, right? He loves you just as much as we do. Having a different job won't change that."
"I know that. But…." Bennett isn't sure how to explain the tangle of feelings in his chest every time he thinks about Kaeya in the Knights. Being away from home even more than he is as an apprentice knight, going off on missions, busy all the time--too busy for Bennett. "What's wrong with being an adventurer like you guys? That's what I'm going to be!"
"There's nothing wrong with it. And you're going to be a great adventurer someday." His dad ruffles his hair. "But there's nothing wrong with being a knight, either. And hey, maybe by the time you're old enough to join the Guild, Kaeya will have gotten bored with the Knights and all their rules and regulations and will want to sign up with your adventuring team instead."
"Maybe," Bennett says, brightening. It's true that if Kaeya stays in the Knights for a while, then he won't have a chance to start his own team, and Bennett can beat him to it. He'd have to join Bennett's then.
"There's that bright Benny smile." His dad ruffles his hair, chuckling. "Make sure you bring that next week when we go to cheer him on, okay?"
"Okay," Bennett says. His dad is already looking away, down at the fight in the ring, so he doesn't try to plaster the smile on as it slowly fades at the thought, once again, of the trials. The notion his dad had spun is only a thin comfort. If Kaeya does pass the trials, why would he give up on his dream after so much work? Bennett wouldn't. And watching Kaeya land a touch on their dad in the ring below, Bennett is glumly sure that this time, he is going to pass. And Bennett is going to have to cheer for him when he does.
He really, really doesn't want to.
***
By the day of the trials a week later, Bennett has all his justifications lined up and solid, the way Kaeya has taught him to prepare excuses before he even runs the risk of getting caught. He's bad luck, and everyone knows that. Their dads have taken him to cheer Kaeya on through the last two trials, and Kaeya has failed both of them. Maybe it was Bennett's luck rubbing off that made him fail. And if it was, maybe Bennett's absence will help him win, finally.
The logic of that is a little too solid, and Bennett spends a few miserable hours contemplating whether he's the reason his big brother is still an apprentice knight instead of a full one after he thinks of it. But that does make him even more determined not to be at the trials. It could be that he really will help Kaeya win with his absence. Either way, he doesn't want to have to watch Kaeya try.
None of their dads would buy it, though, and Bennett knows all of them will go searching when they realize he's not ready that morning. There's enough of them to scour the whole city. To avoid the knight trials, Bennett has to be outside of it. Which means he gets to finally do something he's been anticipating a lot more than he has the knight trials. He's going to go on an adventure, a real adventure, all on his own.
Maybe not a real adventure by the Guild's standards. He knows Katheryne won't give him a commission, so it won't be Guild business, and he won't get paid for it. That's fine. One of his dads had come back from a commission to Old Mondstadt last month with a story of a ruin that had been full of puzzles and treasure, one he'd only gotten to explore halfway before the scholar who'd hired him declared herself done studying the mechanisms and dragged him home. It's full of monsters, too, but Bennett has the sword his dads bought him for his last birthday. It's time to test it out.
His journey to Old Mondstadt starts before dawn, but it's nearly noon by the time he gets there. A rockfall in the canyon, a hilichurl ambush he'd had to run from rather than fight because he couldn't get up the cliffs to the archers, getting frozen by some Cryo slimes by the lake… he's used to those kinds of delays, though, and he's not willing to be phased. None of the arrows hit him anywhere he couldn't patch up, and the sun is warm and bright enough that he's finally getting dry by the time he descends into Old Mondstadt.
The knight trials start at noon, so his dads have probably given up on finding him by now in favor of heading to the trials. They won't be finished until well in the evening. Bennett just has to get back before midnight so that nobody panics. He'll be in a lot of trouble, but if Kaeya passes, probably everyone will be too happy about that to care. Especially once he explains that he was just taking his bad luck to where it couldn't get in Kaeya's way.
With that glum thought in mind, he plunges into the ruins his dad had mentioned, not far from the entrance to Old Mondstadt. The puzzles are hard, and he wishes Kaeya was here, but his dad had done half of them already, and he'd explained the principles behind them while he was telling his story. They're not impossible for Bennett to figure out. All the treasure chests have been opened already, even the ones behind undone puzzles, but… probably those just reset after his dad left. There's going to be really good treasure at the end of this, Bennett is sure of it.
Down one level, then another, and the really good treasure still doesn't show. On the third level down, though, he finds a promising puzzle, way bigger and more elaborate than the other ones. It takes him over an hour to figure out all the way--he keeps accidentally resetting the switches, which doesn't help--but finally it finishes, and a door opens. Bennett rushes forward, grinning, and then finds himself thrown backwards with a yelp as a horde of hilichurls comes rushing out.
It's a rough fight. A very rough fight, and that's by Bennett's standards. He knocks back one hilichurl after another, darts in to slash through samachurls, ducks the heavy shields and axes of mitachurls and even manages to pop up under their guard the way Kaeya has taught them, but there are so many, and they just keep coming. He wishes his dads were here. He wishes Kaeya was here, the way he should be, adventuring with Bennett--but he isn't, and Bennett is going to have to do this alone. And he will. Bennett drives forward with renewed vigor even as hilichurl clubs batter him and bolts burn and freeze him and a whirling axe carves a deep line in his side. He knows it's bad to be losing this much blood. But he got this far, and he can't stop now. Giving up will just get him killed for sure.
At last, he manages to get behind the last mitachurl, copying Kaeya's move the best he can, and as his sword strikes deep the creature vanishes in a puff of smoke. Then the last samachurl, diving through its thorny vines to slash across its front, and the last two hilichurls with one wide strike, and suddenly he's alone in the middle of the puzzle chamber, staring at the still-open door. Beyond, he can see a hefty chest, white paint flaking from ancient metal, gold covered with grime.
Dizzy but triumphant, free hand clasped over his bleeding side, Bennett sheathes his sword and staggers towards the chest. Whatever's in here, he'll bring home, and then their dads will be proud of both of them, Bennett coming back rich from his first adventure the same day that Kaeya finally becomes a knight. He grins broadly as he wedges his fingers under the lid and flips it open.
There's nothing within. Only a few old scraps of cloth that dissolve quickly to dust when the air hits them, and some rusty buckles underneath. Bennett stares down, the grin sliding from his face. Nothing. All that, and there's nothing here? He knows his luck is bad, but….
He shouldn't be surprised. All of his dads have talked about running across this now and then. It isn't just his bad luck. This is part of being an adventurer, his dads have always said--sometimes you get a big score in the course of exploration or a commission, but sometimes you come home empty-handed. The important part is the adventure itself, either way. And he's definitely had an adventure today. Bennett looks down at the wound in his side, his shirt sodden with blood and his hand streaked with red, and forces another grin.
This is still his first adventure. An empty chest doesn't rob him of that. As he folds gracelessly down to the floor, barking his chin on the chest as he goes, the world going blurry and grey all around him, he thinks, with some wonder at the truth of it: he doesn't mind.
***
When he wakes, his wounds are sealed with blisters and charring, and there's something hot and pulsing like his own heart in his hand. Bleary with pain, he's not even quite sure what he's holding, only that it's something he should hold on to, something precious, something he keeps clutched to his chest as he staggers out of the ruins and into the encroaching chill of night.
Somehow he makes it back up onto the bridge leading into Old Mondstadt and down the long road to the winery region south of Wolvendom. The path through the canyon back to the city seems impossibly daunting, especially in the dark, but Bennett staggers on, still holding the hot throbbing thing in his hand. He seems to stumble over every rock and bush on either side of the path as he weaves from side to side, but through the blur of his teary eyes, he does spot the movement ahead. Stepping back, he puts a shaky hand to the hilt of his sword.
"Bennett!" Kaeya's voice rings out before he can draw it, high and urgent, nearly cracking as he rushes forward to yank Bennett into his arms.
"Kaeya? What are you doing here?" It's hard to talk, his tongue heavy in his mouth, but Bennett forces the words out. "You should be celebrating… winning the trials…."
"You really thought I was going to take the trials while you were missing?" Kaeya twists around before Bennett can process that, still holding him close as he shouts over his shoulder. "Over here! I found him. He's hurt- oh, what is this?"
Bennett feels Kaeya's fingers prying his own apart and doesn't resist, letting him take the precious jewel he's been clutching. It's important, he knows that even through the haze of pain, but he can trust Kaeya with it. He can trust Kaeya with anything.
Including his weight, as he feels unconsciousness encroaching once again. He slumps into Kaeya's chest, pressing his face against his shoulder, and lets his big brother hold him up. There's more shouting and ruckus around him, the familiar voices of some of his dads, with Kaeya's softer, cooler tones winding through them. Kaeya hefts him up over his shoulder, assuring their dads that he's got him, and that's the last that Bennett is aware of for some time.
***
Bennett is confined to a bed in the cathedral for five days. He doesn't remember most of it except as vague blurs; his wounds had been cauterized by what his dads proudly tell him is a Vision, but the sisters tell him that burns are easy to infect, and he'd taken a fever on the way home. He sleeps uneasily, plagued by uncomfortable dreams. Every time he wakes, at least one of his dads is there.
Sometimes Kaeya is there too, his hand cool on Bennett's forehead. He's there when the fever breaks at last and Bennett awakes with his head finally clear. Two of their dads are there, too, a little semi-circle of chairs around the bed. His dads are awake, one of them knitting, the other reading a book, but Kaeya is asleep, slumped onto one dad's shoulder, clinging to his arm like he's way too old to do awake. His eyepatch is off, and there's an ugly bruise around the eye, gone yellow and purple with age.
He wakes as soon as Bennett stirs, patting their dad's jacket down for his eyepatch and pulling it on again with a familiar muttered complaint about how it's fine to sleep in, really, before turning to smile down at Bennett with a superior air that doesn't hide his relief. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm okay," Bennett says, pushing himself up into a sitting position against the pillow. "What happened to your eye?"
One of their dads sighs.
"You weren't supposed to see that." Kaeya shoots a glare at the dad who had taken off his eyepatch, then turns back to Bennett and shrugs. "But it's no big deal. Captain Ragnvindr got me while my guard was down."
"He what?" Bennett stares aghast, his hands clenching into fists in his lap. "He got in trouble for it, right? A captain of the knights shouldn't go around hitting people. Unless- was he who you had your match against in the trials?"
"I told you, I didn't take the trials. And no, he didn't get in trouble. He told the Grand Master he only hit me because I punched Captain Gunnhildr first."
"What?" Now Bennett is just confused. "Why would you punch Captain Gunnhildr? I thought you said she was nice."
Their other dad snorts behind his hand.
"I only thought so because she gave me some tips for the trials. But the last time I came to visit you, I found Barbara crying in the store room because she refused Barbara's invitation to do something for her birthday. So I told her what I thought of her as a big sister, and I didn't like her response." Kaeya shrugs again.
"Aw, crud." Bennett would probably have punched her too--okay, he wouldn't have, she's a knight captain and a Gunnhildr and she has been nice to him the two times he's come by the Ordo to see Kaeya and run across her there, but he can understand why Kaeya would. Kaeya takes being his big brother seriously. He wouldn't be impressed by someone else making their little sister cry. "You're not in too much trouble, are you?"
"Well." Kaeya leans back in his chair, smirking at Bennett. "Turns out the Grand Master didn't think that was a good reason to punch one of his precious Gunnhildrs, especially after I failed the last two trials and skipped this one. But you don't need to worry about me. Our dads are helping me fill out my application to the Guild."
Bennett knows he should feel bad for Kaeya. He really, really should. But all he can feel is a warm glow of delight, echoed by his Vision, tucked under his thigh amid the covers, blazing bright. "That's great! I mean, that's great you have a back-up. I know you wanted to be in the Knights."
"If Gunnhildr and Ragnvindr are the sort of knight they make captains, it's probably for the best," Kaeya says easily, waving a dismissive hand. "I'll be better off in the Adventurer's Guild. Plus I've been talking to Barbara's dad about helping out part-time in the Church. I won't progress through the Guild as quickly, but it seems like a good idea to know some of the basics of medicine before I join your adventuring team."
"Won't it be the other way around? It's gonna be another two years before I can join the Guild. You'll be senior enough to start your own team first."
"I don't know about that. Even if I get accepted this month, I haven't been on my first adventure yet." Kaeya smiles conspiratorially at Bennett. "It only seems fair that I follow a more experienced adventurer's lead, doesn't it?"
Even knowing Kaeya is only saying it to make him feel good, Bennett can't help but grin back. "We're going to be the best adventuring team ever! I can't wait."
"We are," Kaeya agrees. "It's too bad I won't get to be Sir Kaeya, but really, I think Kaeya of Benny's Adventure Team has a much better ring to it."

I have a grand total of two main headcanons for Crepus and I've gone and combined them into the ultimate headcanon, which is: Crepus was totally working with the Fatui and that's why he had a delusion (which he apparently had good control over) and he was hands down the most caring doting parent ever to Kaeya and Diluc.
That man was like Fatui Maes Hughes, the other operatives would scram everytime he got close. But there was no escaping the endless supply of pictures and the stories about his very dear sons. Scaramouche fears no mortal soul, but Celestia be damned he dreaded being in the general vicinity of Crepus Ragnvindr.

God I am thinking so hard, y'all. Sit down with me I'm going to articulate my thoughts.
I'm thinking about names and like...the weight behind them and the parallels we see in Genshin. For example, Diluc and Jean are held in high respects due to their lineage (Diluc in part to Crepus owning the winery but also due to the Ragnvindrs being part of the people who led the revolution), while Eula is ostracized for hers. Through no acts of their own, the way they are treated is already decided in part by who came behind them.
Jean Gunnhildr
Tumblr media
Jean feels she has to bring honor not just to Mondstat but to her family as well. It's a heavy burden, but it's one she's willing to bear and she has a wonderful support system through the knights. Still though, she overworks herself because of this sense of duty and isn't good at setting personal boundaries and telling people no because she doesn't want to disappoint anyone. Ever since she was a kid, she was trained and while other kids got to be kids, Jean had to study and other stuff and a lot of her childhood was lost. (That's not to say that Frederica was a bad mother tho, just that she made Jean grow up too fast, her daughter became Dandelion Knight at 15!!) To a degree; Jean exuded toxic positivity: she felt she had to be strong for Mondstat, for her family, and for Lady Vennessa, who she looked up to; and she couldn't really let herself relax or be vulnerable due to this sense of duty engrained in her. Thankfully in her story quest she realized that she didn't have to live up to Vennessa to a T, and just be the best knight that SHE could be and that would still be bringing honor to the title of Dandelion Knight. It's like she said herself: "I'm definitely more of a dandelion than a lionfang". Jean is a good fighter, sure, but that's not how she deals with her issues for the most part. She is a peacemaker and often seeks the most gentle solutions; Jean is a nurturer at heart (and how fitting then, for her to be a healer); and a symbol of hope. Despite that, she needs to learn to put herself first and take care of herself too.
Diluc Ragnvindr
Tumblr media
In Diluc's case, he is attempting to carry a legacy on his shoulders alone. Something I always found interesting is that Diluc's name literally translates to "dawn" from Latin while Crepus means "dusk", his father's death and passing on the torch is symbolic in more ways than one. Literally, the dusk disappeared to leave behind the dawn. And yet, Diluc is dubbed the Darknight Hero and most of his time exacting justice is done at night. Funny, that. I honestly believe that while Crepus was a good father, he projected a lot of himself onto Diluc and Diluc joining the Knights was in part, due to that. That's not to say him joining was bad, but merely that Diluc may have yet to actually figure out what HE wants to do for himself because a lot of things he did to earn his father's approval (and even now he takes care of his dad's winery and he doesn't even like alcohol). In his endeavors to ensure Crepus' legacy never died, I dare to say Diluc began to lose himself in his anger and bitterness; and became an Atlas of sorts in his own mind: tasked to hold the world on his shoulders and endure, and endure, and endure, because he feels he HAS to. Unlike Jean, Diluc does not really have anyone he can personally confide in. Sure his staff support him, but that's not really the same thing. Kaeya used to be his right hand man, but after they fell out Diluc probably felt he had nobody to turn to. As far as he's concerned, he's the only Ragnvindr left (while he and Kaeya do seem on better terms lately, they haven't officially reconciled) and so it's up to him to make sure Crepus is remembered positively.
Thankfully though in the game as Diluc warms up to you he seems to trust you and realize that he doesn't have to do everything alone and it's okay to have friends help you; and that you don't have to be self-reliant to an unhealthy degree. He's still got a ways to go, but he's definitely growing and that brings me joy.
Eula Lawerence
Tumblr media
In Eula's case, her name is also a burden but unlike Jean and Diluc, it's one she wants to get rid of as soon as possible. She's essentially their negative foil; and shares a few similarities such as attempting to shoulder most things herself (her only friends canonically thus far are Amber and Yanfei) and having a strong sense of duty, but she's doing it because of personal drive; not to honor anyone else. Eula is also at a bit of a crossroads: her family hates her for joining the Knights, and the people of Mondstat hate her because she's a Lawerence: it's a lose-lose situation either way; and so Eula doesn't try to prove any suspicions wrong because it wouldn't matter: her right doings are viewed with hostility and suspicion and her wrong doings would just be used as proof that nothing good comes from the Lawrences; so she plays the part and allows people to think what they will.
HOWEVER.
Eula's sarcasm is a bit of a turn off for many people (and understandably so); and while I acknowledge that it is most likely a defense and coping mechanism, it is not a HEALTHY coping mechanism. Humor is subjective and folks have the right to be weirded out or even uncomfortable with her jokes of vengeance and reclaiming her family's former glory (she jokes about that in her greeting voiceline); especially considering that her folks well..kept slaves. As you get closer to Eula it becomes more and more apparent that she doesn't mean a lot of what she says but that doesn't negate the fact that her family has done a lot of damage and while Eula herself should not be held accountable for that in particular; it IS her responsibility to be mindful of the harm that has been done and act accordingly. It's not right for people to treat her like trash just because of her lineage; but on the flip side it's also not acceptable to make jokes about restoring the honor of slave owners around the people they used to hold in captivity. Just because she's been a victim of her family and the people around her does not make it okay. Her trauma is valid, but her trauma does not validate her behavior. (Does that make sense? I hope it does.) And hopefully somebody calls her out on it, sooner rather than later; and she can learn to cope in a healthier way and actually start healing.
If things come down to it, Eula is willing to destroy her family completely; and I think about that a lot: hating your family so much that to nip them in the bud would only bring relief and peace. That's an awful existence and honestly?? I wouldn't wish it on anyone; and I hope that Eula can find people who she actually feels safe with. Again though, she needs to acknowledge that her behavior can be potentially harmful in her quest to rid herself of the burden of her family name and find better ways to protect herself emotionally.
Anyways, that's my thoughts for today; if you read all the way to the end, thank you. :]

Rainbow eyes
'He won't find me here.' Thought a young fiery haired boy.
Diluc, Kaeya and their father arrived in seaside village in Fontaine for a detour. Their carriage got caught in an accident and had to have their wheel replaced. Crepus allowed his sons to roam the area but have to back before sundown. As soon as they went out, Kaeya suggested a game of hide-n-seek in the woods nearby to which Diluc eagerly agreed.
Right now, he was finding the perfect place to hide, unknowingly straying a bit too far.
"Hmm, maybe over he-AHHHHH!" The poor boy walked too far from the path slipped down, falling into a deep pond. He gasp for breathe, trying to swim to the edge but struggled. Just as he felt his energy began to drain, a large branch lowered down to him.
"Grab on!" A small voice called out. He held on to it, and was slowly being pulled out. Diluc and his savior panted heavily. After catching his breathe, he turned to thank them, and felt the words caught up his throat.
His savior was a girl, and she...was so cute. She had pretty caramel hair in small pigtails, fair vanilla skin and the most striking feature on her were her eyes, they reminded him a rainbow and change like a kaleidoscope.
She wiped the sweat off her brow and looked at him .She wore a white sleeveless dress with black ribbon around her waist and white sandals.
"Are you okay?" She worriedly asked.
"Y-Yeah." He answered.
"Good, I didn't want you to die due to your stupidity." She commented.
That irked him.
"Excuse me?" He squinted his eyes.
"I saw you walking around, clearly distracted and slipped. You like you not from here too, you should now better." She scolded.
"Hey! I-" he stopped himself, because he knew she was right. Shutting his mouth, he cast his gaze on the grass, grumbling.
Suddenly he felt something wiggling within his pants, he shout at feeling, also surprising the girl.
'What's wrong!?"
"There's something inside my pants!"
"Let me help!"
"EEHH!?"
The girl proceeded to grab pants and tried to pull them down, only for Diluc to harshly grab her hands.
"Its improper for a girl to hold a boy's pants!" He reasoned. Struggling to get her hands away
"But what if it lays eggs in your underwear?" She countered.
"What!?"
Thankfully for Diluc, all that wiggling helped the fish escaped, and now back in the pond
The fiery-sighed in relief and he let go of the girl's hands.
"Aww poor fish." She cooed.
"Your more worried about that?" he asked incredulously .
"It smelled your underwear." She snarked.
He was about retort when he sneezed. She giggle and grabbed his hand.
"Come on, Fish pants let's get you dry, my house isn't too far."
"What did you call me?" His narrowed his eyes
"Fish pants, it suits you." She giggled.
"My name is Diluc, not fish pants."
She hummed at his answer and proceeded to lead him deeper through the forest, coming at a small house. Entering the abode it felt oddly cozy. The girl let go of his hand and prepared the fire.
"Remove what you need and place them near the fireplace." She instructed, adding more wood. He removed his vest and shirt and placed them near the the hearth, next is shoes and socks. Diluc sat slightly close, rubbing his hand together for more friction.
"Soo... Where are your parents?" He asked.
"They're on a date." She replied.
"Aren't you a little young to be alone?" He questioned.
"I'm a big girl, I can take care of myself." She shot back.
Once satisfied with fire, the rainbow-eyed girl stood up and made her way into one of the rooms. She then emerged holding a towel, walking over to him and draping over his head.
"Oof, thanks." He said rubbing it on his head.
"Welcome." She took a seat next to him.
A comfortable silence took over, nothing but the sound of flames crackling could be heard. Now that she was closer to him, he noticed there was some kind of scent to her, like caramel and sweet flowers after the rain. It was nice.
"Hey." Diluc spoke up. She made a noise of acknowledgement.
"I never saw eyes like yours."
"My dad said I got my eyes from my great grandmother and I'm a spitting image of her."
"Hold old are you?"
"I'm 6, you?"
"I'm 10."
"Where do you live?" It was her turn to ask.
"In Mondstadt."
"What's it like there?"
"Open fields with strong breezes and...lots of dandelions."
"Sounds nice."
"By the way, what's your name." He inquired.
"I'm Calypso."
----------------
After drying off, Diluc and Calypso spent a good time playing together and getting know one another.
Diluc could feel another hot blush creping on his cheeks when the girl tackled him to the ground.
"Yay I win!" She happily exclaimed. He simply laughed.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to ask. Why were you in forest in the first place?"
"Oh, I was actually looking for a place to hide and-" A sudden shock of realization went through him.
"Hide-n-seek! I was playing with my brother. I forgot!" He remembered in panic
O-Oh! Then let me help get back, don't worry I know short cut." She quickly took his hand and lead him to a thick set of vines, she pushed them away revealing a small wooden door. Diluc reached for the handle but stopped mid-way, he turned back to her.
"Will... Will I see again?"
"If you slipped into a pond again." She smirked.
He rolled his eyes, and opened the door, Diluc looked back one last time, Calypso waved at him before closing it.
"Diluc!"
"Brother!"
Crepus and Kaeya rushed to the young red head's side hugging hum
"Where were you? I was worried sick."
"What happened? I got so scared when I couldn't find you."
"Umm well, you see.."
He told them how he met a girl with rainbow eyes. Kaeya was in awe but his father had doubts, after all eyes like those couldn't exist.
"And I'm going to marry her one day."
Crepus chuckled and patted his head.
"Of course you will."
Once they got home, Diluc eagerly told the staff about his run-in with girl, and like his father they did not believe him but patiently listened to his story.
But he was determine, to find her again and marry her. No matter how annoying she can get.
"I'm coming back for you Calypso, I swear it on Celestia and the Abyss."

chaeya zhongluc college au brainrot
wowow im alive what a surprise i know. anyway here are my zhongluc/chaeya headcanons if they were emo teenagers in college
WARNIGNF!! i think i made a suggestive joke in here idk i just woke up its 2 PM
Kaeya:
kaeya uses he/they pronouns argue with the wall.
he has such a good fashion sense and has 100% ended up in an alt girls pinterest board at some point
dyes his hair every other week
but still has such healthy hair??? how??
also he is black + desi hes just light skinned and has 2c hair because i said so.
gender
he is gender
hes literally the type to go out partying/drinking almost every friday with his friends (rosaria mostly) but somehow has never gotten lower than an 80% ever
because all of his other time is spent studying and crying
poor guy
but they also takes the most aesthetic notes and has prob tutored childe at some point
SUPER AESTHETIC NOTES
im talking pinterest aesthetic notes
i love him
Childe:
childe is cis and gay (bi?) but he’s okay with he/they pronouns
he has a “i have enough money to have a full wardrobe but dont know how to dress” style
but kaeya teaches him dont worry
kaeya would prob push him back inside his apartment when he sees what childe is wearing
now he is also aesthetic
aesthetic boyfriends
so true
kaeya makes fun of him for being white because same
has TERRIBLE grades but they arent bad enough for him to flunk out
hes actually so smart though he just doesnt pay attention in class cos he knows like half the material alr
cooks 4 kaeya
kaeya makes him stop because everytime he cooks the house smells like fish shit
terrible pickup lines all the time
never asks about kaeyas eyepatch because he is a gentleman and its none of his business
Diluc:
xe/him
emo
xyr also aesthetic but in a totally different way than kaeya
still has a good sense of fashion though
him and kaeya are bickering 24/4
“and thats why you lost an eye”
xe always gets kaeya candy afterwords if xey goes too far
he isnt a monster yk
SPEAKING OF CANDY
xe actually hates sweet things bc crepus is one of those dads who had his kids ask before eating thing sweet
but he loves sour candy for some reason
the reason is xe’s emo thats the reason
so zhongli (the best bf ever) scraps together as much money by the time of their anniversary and gets one of those gift baskets
yk the ones with the teddy bear and sweets n shit
well the sweets are all airhead sour stripes and other sour things
and instead of a teddy bear its an eagle stuffy
cos eagles r his favorite
diluc cries
because he is emo
Zhongli:
he/they/she
they are genderfluid and genderqueer
very smart and rambles a lot about the topics they’re learning, mostly about cultures around the world
has multiple younger siblings
so. so many younger siblings.
theyve literally never gotten below an A- like how
this reminded me about my C in algebra
im crying now
ANYWAY HAAHAHAHha
broke asl
they tutor childe for money because when childe and kaeya started dating they got. uh. “distracted” during their “tutoring” sessions
ill leave it at that
and with this money he collects rocks and buys little things for diluc here and there
even though diluc can afford it for himself
its the thought that counts
pretty good fashion sense; hes one of those “softboys” with the brown and yellow aesthetic
them and diluc are a 🕯 🧸 ☁ 🪐 🕊 🤎 🌙 and 🩸⭕💉🩸🍷👹👺 duo
so cute

Can you give commentary on and p.s. if this is kaeya... ? :D
dw anon i saw your note about the chennett fic! i'm just selfish and want to do both of them :) lmaoooo
for context - send me a fic you want director’s commentary on!
and p.s. if this is kaeya... - kaeluc
okay critically important if u have never heard the song that this is based on, check it out (x) vaguely this was inspired by sitting in the car with my fam a few months back and hearing this song on the radio (my dad exclusively listens to 2000s country, jimmy buffett, and queen) and my sister, who is an aggressively supportive ally, going 'every time i hear this song i imagine that it's about a guy named austin and i just change the pronouns when i sing it to make it gay'
so obviously, i had to make it abt kaeluc
(He wants to call Diluc.)
rose was my first exposure to people using parentheses in fic which sounds very strange as a comment to make but i do always associate it with her now lmaoooo. i rarely if ever do it in my fics (actually this might be the first one genshin-wise that i've done it in?) but it felt appropriate as a way to let kaeya express his emotions without expressing them
Do I remember that you were planning to propose to me?
okay so my biggest struggle in suiting this to kaeluc aside from the obvious 'they are not the stereotypical men portrayed in a country song' was figuring out what the hell would separate them. bc of the nature of the song, i didn't want to make it a messy/angsty breakup, but it had to be Big Enough that kaeya would just straight up not want to go near diluc for a long time
i did actually consider flipping their roles here, but i do often write a pining kaeya and a distant diluc, so it was fun to swap the typical dynamic a little bit. and ofc, diluc pre-crepus-death always strikes me as a i know what i want and i'm not afraid to go after it kind of vibe, so it fit well with the idea that he'd want to propose to kaeya
Voicemail, he chides, half in relief and half disappointment.
absolutely wild that this song was made in an era of answering machines cause i was like 'an-answering machine??? tf???' lsdfjljsklfsdjkl and had to very intentionally go fix all the times i said that without realizing it lmao
“If you’re calling with the intent to sell me something, please do not bother with a message, I have no interest in buying.”
okay there was a lot of adjusting of the actual voicemails from the song ofc, namely to make sure they fit diluc's voice, but i tried to keep the spirit of them, to let kaeya build diluc's character accordingly (and flesh out the idea of his relationship with him - and what they no longer have)
He won’t say a word, Diluc deserves that.
the other piece of this ofc was building out the way kaeya left, the reasons behind it - namely, his fears that he wasn't ever going to be good enough for diluc (hence his fight-or-flight making him run). this piece didn't come naturally at first but once i tracked it down, it fit well, esp considering how inclined i am to write kaeya as self-deprecating and self-sabotaging
“Advice? Tell me what to do?”
i love love LOVE bffs rosaria and kaeya and this only compounded after the bartender event. but i love rosaria's line abt how kaeya just basically talks about everything when he's drunk and love putting that to good use in fics
“You love him.”
“I know.”
ahhh the good ol' accidental admission. which, for him is like the world-ending type of admission in spite of the fact that rosaria's just chillin like 'babe u got it bad u never stopped loving him and he obviously never stopped loving u suck it up and call him' lksdfkjld. i love her being a force for calm in the midst of kaeya's dramatics
That’s too big a question for three years and a ring he’d never been brave enough to admit he wanted.
ngl something abt this line really made me 😭😭 to write,,,,,everything summed up about his departure in one sentence, more or less. everything about how he feels now, too
(But Diluc always deserved better than that, didn’t he?)
yeah okay this is the turning point for kaeya, ultimately. where he stops lamenting 'diluc deserves better' and starts using it as a motivation - and he gets there in words eventually, that diluc deserves better so he will be better, but this is the first point at which it shifts in the other direction (and the first point at which i realized how i wanted to resolve the issue, or what feels like an issue for kaeya at least)
“Will you come home, Kae?”
diluc, who never stopped loving kaeya. i actually struggle a LOT with prescribed lines of dialogue or events (which maybe isn't a bad thing exactly but it does hinder me a bit when it comes to stuff like this) so this was actually a little weird to write all the voicemail lines basically identically to what was originally in the song, but it ended up working out well to give kaeya these intense emotions between lines, in the breaks, and i hope it didn't end up sounding too clunky lmao
Kaeya shies away from the idea that he is someone worth rushing for.
i love fragile kaeya. broken, unsteady, shattered. terrified. at his least composed, least prepared. i think this is where he shines as a character, where we see some really interesting pieces of him that aren't hidden behind witty lines and deflecting answers, and i love to write him this way
(And this time, he intends to keep that promise.)
yes, they do get married (after a bit of a relearning of each other, but it's not hard to fall back into old habits). yes, they do get the house on the lake. klee loves visiting and kaeya's teaching her how to throw a softball with deadly accuracy. kaeya is very bad at bowling but he makes an effort to get better because diluc enjoys it and he wants to share in the things diluc enjoys. diluc and rosaria meet (rosaria actually says 'FINALLY' upon meeting him, which confuses diluc and embarrasses kaeya to no end) and they get along...weirdly well, to kaeya's relief. things are good. they get their well-deserved happy ending
send me a fic you want director’s commentary on!

I'm imagining a modern au where the Ragnvindr family is very much into the alternative fashion scene (punk/goth/etc).
So like one of the boys wants to give himself an undercut but darling's like "nah I got you sweetie" and breaks out clippers and scissors and is like "I'll make sure its even, this takes me back to when I'd do this for your dad, good times"
Crepus would be formal/vampiric gothic aesthetic bc it looks formal but also fits his tastes (he was a metalhead/punk in his youth and that's how he met his spouse was in the mosh pit and he was in love yo, when he was working on patches for his jacket they headass ripped one of theirs off their own jacket and gave it to him (ultimate flirting) and he was so weak)
they're super encouraging with their kids trying out different looks and finding ways to express themselves. Like Kaeya wanted to dye his hair pink and Crepus were like "ok what shade of pink we going for?" He has vivid memories of darling dying his hair in darling's cramped bathroom when they were teens.
Headass working for the Ragnvindr family is the best bc they literally don't care if you have tattoos or whatever, they're more focused on work ethics.
Pls I'm so weak for the idea of them all in alternative fashion
I have no idea what half of this means but OKAY !!
