cadet clone force 99 collecting droid parts (wrecker as medals and tech as parts for the droid he's making) and the kaminoans going absolutely batshit crazy that this squad of defective clones keeps stealing droid parts no matter how many times they confiscate them (hint: crosshair sneaks them)

it's arguable if Rex and his age cohort count as 'child soldiers' by the time they're deployed; he's age ten absolute, twenty relative, who the fuck knows experientially since we don't know how flash training works and that's ignoring the bit where we learn domino and other squads like them have been shoved out into the field early but -
he was a child soldier, even if he's some kind of liminal adult when he meets ahsoka, and tells her experience beats everything.
every clone in his command is an experienced soldier. they've been learning how to do it from decant. even 99, who never left kamino - during the invasion of kamino his instinct is to get to the armoury so he can arm the younger clone cadets - the assumption being that they are entirely comfortable with the weapons. neither cody or rex see anything out of the ordinary in this.
same thing in the movies, too - kids in headsets in tiered rows, learning how to soldier for the republic, or in the cartoon episode where boba sneaks onto pond's flagship with the clone youth brigade, and it's framed as special treat for them to fire off live rounds on a flagship during a war.
it's difficult for me to elide their entire lack-of-childhood and say they aren't child soldiers, because they were, for the vast majority of his abbreviated life rex was, and so was everyone else he knew, and it's not like trauma as a child doesn't heavily inform who you are as an adult.

ON CT NUMBERS
Okay so, for research, I went looking up Clones.
And I came across "Bravo Squad", which was the Cadet Squad that graduated from cadets before Domino Squad did, in the Clone Wars episode "Cadets".
They were labeled by their CT numbers.
Now this is interesting in comparison to Domino Squad, who's numbers were:
CT-782 "Hevy" - Who we know later exploded on the Rishi Moon.
CT-00-2010 "Droidbait" - Who died off screen to Droids.
CT-4040 - "Cutup" - Who got ate by a Rishi Eel
CT-27-5555 - "Fives"
CT-21-0409 - "Echo"
Now, Echo is interesting in that he has two. He's been known as CT-0409 and CT-1409.
Was there a mistake? Prolly, but we can reconcile that easy--in that, we don't know what exactly a CT number is.
If it a serial number, a way to systematically label clones, and there are thousands to millions of Clones, then it would make sense to have a much longer serial number--but only immediately identify by part of that number for ease.
So Echo would actually be "CT-21-0408-1409".
( I will still say that its still too short, so I'd go that its actually longer than that--but this is what we have of it. Its a bit like IP Addresses, really. )
But what about that double digit in front?
Well, we look back at Bravo Squad from Cadets.
CT-27-3555
CT-66-3232
CT-66-3233
CT-66-3238
I'd say, judging by those numbers, that the double-digit indicates the Batch you were apart of.
(Writing wise, its prolly just ease to label a clone character and go, cos they did a lot of that in TCWs--but we can still have fun with what we have)
Like, take those cloning pillar-towers we see all the clone babies in, and label a set with a universal number, and that's a batch.
If we go by Legends, clones came out in batches of 32. Mesh that with Clone Wars Canon--and you could say they came out in batches of 32, but are later separated into Batch-Squads of 4 or 5 or 6 (Remember the Youth Brigade in the Boba Arc of TCWs? Like that)
It would make sense to produce a batch squad that has trained all their lives, to ensure perfect unit cohesion.
And Domino Squad either has no batch-number revealed, or come from different batches entirely.
More than likely, they were odd ones out of their batches, maybe it was a failure or something, maybe it was simply being the extra, maybe it was an attitude problem--but we could say that they were placed in Domino Squad, away from their original Batch-Squads, to see if they'd work together--and they conflicted a lot, because they didn't grow up with each other and lack that "Perfect Unit Cohesion".
( Oh they prolly could have worked together fine with training and time--but they didn't have that, nor did they have a good trainer )
So anyway.
Echo would be from Batch-21. Droidbait is from a Batch-00 (He's less likely to be the oldest, and more likely to just be in the right line on the right clone tree-pillar), and Fives is from Batch-27. (We don't know Cutup or Hevy's)
...
But if you notice in my Bravo Squad list, there's a CT-27-3555.
Judging by the fact that he's surrounded by Batch-66s... that's probably one of Fives' original batchmates. Based on his Batch Number and his CT Number.
And as far as we know, his old batchmate is out there...
Somewhere...

It's not Kesett week yet but I already got something for No Order 66, but it's long so bear with me.
So obviously Order 66 was a big bust and no one dies, everyone is fine except for Shittyious and Dooky. (They just end up killing each but I'm too lazy to go into detail). Jedi move away from Coruscant to reconnect with the Force and relearn themselves. Clones gain freedom and half of Tipoca City because they make a little more than half the population so like by some legality they get half. I don't know it's just a draft. Anyway, with these new freedoms this also means the Alpha-ARCs can take legal custody of Boba who is still a minor (he's like 16 by now because ending a war and shit takes a while). So Alpha-02, Spar, and Alpha-17 pick him up from prison and take him back to Kamino. Hurry for Boba he finally gets to be a part of his giant ass family (thanks for isolating him, Jango).
Half way through Boba's angst filled stay with his brothers a Tusken Jedi by the name of A'Sharad Hett contacts the Alphas telling them Boba is being summoned by his people for community service for his past felonies against them with Cad Bane (they're more willing to forgive a misguided youngling than a full grown man like Bane). The Jedi Council has also agreed to this and since the clones are still very close to the space wizard monks they agree too. However, none of the Alphas can escort Boba to Tatooine so they ask the commander of a battalion headed that way if they could take Boba. The troopers in question are the 13th "Iron" Battalion headed to Tatooine to help some of the local small towns who are gaining independence from Jabba. The troopers are being accompanied by their former COs, Master Jaro Tapal and his padawan Cal Kestis, as well as Master Cere Junda and Knight Trilla Suduri. Boba isn't pleased about any of this.
Day one on the ship and Boba is reunited with the youth brigade cadets he'd met years ago when he tried killing Windu. Boba thought they'd hate him but Jax said he always knew Boba was one of them. They're how he properly meets Cal. Since their squad is around the padawan's age (Cal is 15½ and Kix fixed the aging for the clones right after the war because Nala Se works hard but Kix works harder) and became friends with him shortly after being adopted into Iron Battalion.
Cal has noticed Boba from the moment they stepped on the ship and is absolutely delighted when Jax introduces them. At first he's nervous and his awkward new height (thanks random growth spurts) isn't helping but that doesn't seem to matter because Boba thinks he's funny. His struggle with adjusting to his new tallness and gangly limbs makes Boba laugh because he's never met an awkward Jedi before. Cal is practically walking on clouds by the end of their little hang out. They go on like this the entire week it takes to get to Tatooine and everyone is starting to take notice how the two seek each other out.
They land at Mos Pelgo (in the process of getting renamed Freetown) but like shits already hit the fan sideways before they even got there. Hett is there with his tribe as planned but Boba's punishment will have to be delayed as they try to figure out this krayt dragon problem both the Tuskens and the townspeople are having. This is where Junior Deputy Cobb Vanth (17) meets Boba. Oh how the plot thickens.
It's basically the plot of Mando S2E1 but with more high schooler drama and teen love triangle that isn't actually a love triangle because Cal and Cobb both have feelings for Boba but he only has feelings for Cal so really it's a love V.

Introducing Cub Squad; The Leaders!
(You are here) | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5
Tumblr media
Bear CS-3911 [he/him]
Sergeant leader of a clone youth brigade that he calls his Cubs. Bear is a stern but kind leader, teaching his cadets by example and keeping a close eye on them - he observes each of their strengths, weaknesses and dynamics to assign them tasks that will suit them best and further their skills.
Early on, some of the cadets he trained were showing promise, but others in the squad dragged them down with lackluster results and performances; however they refused to be seperated and placed in other squads. Due to this, Bear's cadets weren't set to graduate as full troopers, so he pulled some strings and with the help of Jedi General Wren Estyr (also an oc) petitioned to train them out in the field instead. They'd be delivering relief supplies to planets ravaged by the war and run defence for Senate ambassadors on diplomatic missions. Since this was in the tail end of the Clone Wars, resources were tight and trained clones were high in demand, so Bear was given permission to take them on missions around the galaxy!
Tumblr media
Nari (meaning action/act/move in Mando'a) CT-7602 [he/him]
Second in command, also in charge of comms and logistics. He's a stickler for rules and gets exasparated by his brothers easily, since they ignore them on purpose to wind him up. Nari has a sharp mind and adapts plans easily under pressure - as much as they love to annoy him, his squad trusts him deeply as he gets them through countless deadly situations. He also dotes on Chip a lot and buries himself in datapads most days to expand his knowledge; both so that he can be a better leader and to be able to answer Chips endless stream of questions.

Okay, first of all, I 100% agree that The Bad Batch has a serious whitewashing problem, and it should be addressed. However, I've seen a lot of complaints specifically relating to Omega and, again, I'm not saying those complaints aren't valid, but I do think a lot of them are based on the false assumption that she's a Jango clone.
Because, guys? For real?
She clearly is not:
Tumblr media
She looks nothing like the baby clones from the Youth Brigade!!! Literally, like, the only similarity is their eye color! Otherwise, their eyes are shaped differently, their facial structure is different, their noses, their lips, their eyebrows - none of it matches!
Yes, Omega is a female, but human sexual dimorphism is ridiculously small you guys - biological sex does not change that much about a person's appearance.
And before anyone says anything about style differences between The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch, look at this screenshot from episode 1:
Tumblr media
What's that in the corner there?
Tumblr media
Oh look! It's a baby clone, looking the same as they did in Clone Wars and, again, nothing like Omega
Like, yes, I do think Omega's character shouldn't be white (and that the clones' skintone should actually match that of Temuera Morrison, the guy who played Jango), but that's because people of color are wildly unrepresented in media and imo they should have modeled her more after Michelle Ang, who voices her - not because she's Jango's clone. Because as it stands, I really, really doubt she is
(And if she is then for real whoever did her design fucked up immensely like come on, she barely even looks like she could be related to the baby clones)

Obsessed with this one clone training the youth brigade whos just made the decision to shave the top of his head and only the top of his head. He saw someone balding and was like "sick get me some of that" and you know what. You know what, good for him.

In my opinion, the most underrepresented clone or clones are the clone youth brigade from season 2 of TCW. ( Jax, Hotshot, Whiplash etc. )
Oh!!!! Them!!! You're right, I now want to see a whole episode with them going around being silly and becoming friends 🥺🥺

I was just reading an ask you answered some time ago about the Jedi adopting clones as librarians and I just wanted to say that I think the Clones of the Clone Youth Brigade in Season 2 of TCW would be a great fit for that.
You are entirely correct. Tbh I have a fic where they meet the Jedi padawans that I really should finish.

Consider Danica as a young adult. Still the a sweet darling with a deep love of books and knowledge. Now consider her becoming part of the terror Brigade against the First Order. She’s no longer the same clumsy star as she was in her youth, no, this girl seemingly has the answer for everything including how far a person can be pushed before they break. Just don’t leave her cape near any open flames though 😅
Aw Danica sweet as can be but knows exactly what to do on how to to get intel. She has a few journals on it and of course her family helped her build up such information!
She’s not clumsy anymore but yes accident prone..the tips of her cape are singed and she refuses to change it.
Also as a side note the terror brigade job is on the side mostly she is helping build up a library full of stories of the clone wars, the rebellion and the like...she also likes writing books and even has a few children books..
But after the first order rises well she’s needed in the fight...especially if you consider the first order is after her niece, Selene, she can’t have that threat around.
