(one of the many) things that grinds my gears about renting in london is,,,, clothes storage. the flats are small and never have built in storage. ever. last year’s flat was disgusting but at least space for furniture, this flat has a weird shaped bedroom that i CANNOT figure out how to make work.
like. don’t get me wrong, I love this flat. It is gorgeous. But my god- the furniture situation in the bedroom- the locations of the plugs and radiators ((and SLANTED CEILING)) is pushing my buttons in all the wrong ways tonight

might get stabbed for this but like the edits of walker scobell make me so uncomfy like ma'am that is a child. especially when they use clips of him from percy jackson like that is a 12 year old my good lady. and before you say "oh but im the same age as him" or "oh but i'm younger than him" that's still weird dawg. he is still a kid and so are you. while you shouldn't really be sexualising yourself when you're still in middle school or whatever that's your decision. walker, however, did not choose to be sexualised, so just don't.

I NEEEED people—especially those with unfathomably large platforms???—to start doing just a tiny bit of internal evaluation before they log onto a blue website and say “I don’t want these queer characters to fuck in canon” or “I’d be fine if these characters never kissed again” or whatever.
This is a post about Good Omens and the prospect of Aziraphale and Crowley potentially having sex in season 3. It's a response to a tweet that I'm crossposting, but let it be known the above statement and this topic applies broadly across multiple fandoms too.
But anyway, in regards to Good Omens specifically:
I am seeing this take that essentially boils down to "Canon has now made it clear that these characters want to have sex with each other through subtext (i.e. Aziraphale and the ox), but I don’t want that to reach narrative completion because the idea of them having sex makes me uncomfortable or isn’t my personal preference” and it is, to put it mildly and delicately, A Very Bad Take.
This is rhetorical (and I do not expect or particularly want an answer), but: explain to me how and why queer characters who are unavoidably visibly queer (aka 2 "man-shaped beings") fucking on screen wouldn’t be a net positive, especially when you can indicate how canon has set it up.
Presumably, some people say things like this because ~they want to see them as visibly ace.~ Okay. But by some of these people’s own admission, there IS more evidence in canon now to indicate these characters crave sex with each other (vs arguing otherwise)... yet people would rather that be ignored/erased all for the sake of them feeling comfortable or feeling better about what canon shows or doesn’t show explicitly??
I’m sorry, but—speaking as an ace person, to be clear—your personal preferences for the story shouldn’t / don’t affect anything here. There’s too much in this.
Yeah, I understand on a personal level not having “representation.” I almost never see myself or my unique experiences and identity reflected in stories. And yet, I also understand that that doesn’t change any story or the world in which we live. Things like this are not said in a vacuum.
Any queer characters having sex on screen IS a net positive. It is rare and impactful, and openly calling for or hoping for otherwise when canon points to its potential is a detrimental alliance with purity culture, whether intentionally or accidentally. Because we live in a Goddamn society!
Who knows (other than Neil Gaiman) whether Aziraphale and Crowley ARE going to fuck on international TV. None of us do! But the subtext right now blatantly says they’re starving for it. And you don’t have to like the prospect of that, but honestly? We SHOULD get to see it play out. There’s no truly legitimate reason we shouldn’t ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Whether you "prefer" it or not.
And my ultimate hot take is… if someone balks at the idea of that or doesn’t understand the importance of it, despite even seeing the subtext… then they should perhaps unpack that? Just a thought.
Truly the way fandoms are managing to hit either “subtext doesn’t count :/ ” or “let’s keep it to subtext so it’s ‘open to interpretation’ :) ” nowadays depending on what corner one visits is MADDENING. Whiplash-inducing. Surreal. And so much nonsense you can’t pick where to start.
So! I do genuinely hope I'm not kicking off discourse but I felt this Needed To Be Said (and on more than one site). Because posts like “even if they never kiss again, we’ve won <3 “ make me want to be like…
These characters are YEARNING. Do not doom them and us to it. For once, we can reach for the stars and maybe–against all odds–pull them down. Embrace it!
---
[Update: after more discourse has occurred, I have somewhat elaborated on this further, from the POV of the significance of the queer themes in Good Omens and more specifically how they center illicit pleasure/desire]

Im gonna say it.
The cinematic cutscenes from TOTK sucked.
Theyre mostly just characters upright, idle, giving exposition. I was bored when sonia died because of how lacking in emotion the whole scene was played out, from the hardly-there voice acting to the models robotic movements.
I was bored every time a guardian ancestor passed on the stone, the "imprisoning war" was a footnote of a lackluster 6v1 where everyone just stood there or floated in slow motion in the periphery in a strike pose.
The only cutscenes that had a lot of movement were ganon-centric or reused preset animations for creatures (like the molduga assault or the creation of ganons army)
Its just SO LAZYYY

why does the fandom mischarecterize ayaka, keqing, nilou and now layla so badly?
they're all completely twisted into these crazy yandere girls who fight with each other for aether's love when they've been nothing but sweet to us. these jokes made by aether harem mfs are not funny at all. aether is not a playboy, he's just looking for his sister. i'm not attacking anyone who ships them but this kind of mischarecterization is just... not great. they make girls' entire personality about being aether's yandere lovers and fighting with each other when they're more than that. some of them also hate on ppl who like harmless queer ships. i'm just a lil weirded out with that side of the fandom because these girls are just few of the sweetest chars in the game, i love them sm :((
this is just my personal opinion. if you don't like it, just scroll away please!!

i hate it when a friendship ends with someone making the other person this big enemy... like we could have just drifted apart and outgrown each other, but instead false accusations about things that never happened are being thrown and i'm being blocked???
like i'm sorry that i was drifting away from you after you started consistently choosing other people over me and that made you feel insecure?? don't make things up just so i'm this big bad friend and you can feel justified with ending our friendship and make yourself feel like the better person.
jesus fucking christ the immaturity.

"omg australia is the favourite child!" "ugh australia won!"
let me tell you something, my little american friend.
sure, we get really good (super fucking amazing !!) surprise songs. but this does not equate to being the favourite child.
we got seven shows for the whole country. we have a population of approximately 25.7 million, and while not everyone listens to her there sure as hell are a bunch of people who do. in addition to this, the shows in australia also have to accommodate for swifties from oceanian/asian countries who wanted to go and could pay to travel here (with the huge bump in air travel prices + hotel prices nonetheless), as there were are only four different locations (tokyo, melbourne, sydney and singapore, coming to a grand total of 14 shows) in the entirety of the oceanian and asian continents.
so while i do empathise with you missing out on some amazing songs, before you start talking about how australia is totally the favourite child, please have a look at the amount of shows america got compared to the rest of the world. thank you 😊

i've decided to finally post about aroace akitoya
i so totally understand romantic akitoya shippers and even engage with the content sometimes. but. consider my viewpoint.
akitoya qpr. like. i have these 2 thoughts in my head:
1. akito has known he was aroace since sometime in middle school and actually helped toya realize that he was also aroace. they enter a qpr early in their first year of high school. they never really tell anyone because they don't think it's all that important. i feel like some people would definitely assume they have crushes on each other but... nah. they're just chilling. :)
2. "peer pressure" (not exactly but can't think of the right words) from others leads them to believe that they actually do have crushes on each other. (neither of them know they are aroace yet in this interpretation) so they enter a relationship on a mutual understanding of "i like you i think" and "yeah i'm pretty sure i like you too?" but then it all feels wrong and weird so it falls apart within a matter of weeks. then they later experience aroace enlightening <3
like... they have such distinct soulmate vibes but also they're both so aroace. they're so aroace. to me. <3
anyways if you read this lol thanks for indulging my silly thoughts. akitoya isn't even one of my fav ships i just wanted to put this out here because i never see people talk about aroace akitoya and they mean a lot to me!
