Candle on the Water

The destruction of each mothercrystal had disturbed his slumber well enough, causing the Eikon of the Sea to rise from the depths, to stretch and roll with the tides as wakefulness returned, the haze created by centuries of sleep fading as clarity gradually returned. For a while, Leviathan wandered--days, perhaps weeks--listening, trying to gather information on what was happening, discovering that even Bahamut's presence was but a flicker.
He had slept too long...it would seem...
Eventually, he felt it. Their presence...multiple...multiple Eikons gathered in one place...and perhaps at that moment, Leviathan feared the worst, that it was too late. Yet...they were on the water, he sensed. A battle on the sea. Two ships, both fast...and Odin, oh, he recognized Odin <immediately>, the rage swirling inside him and echoed with a gathering tempest...and yet, no...Shiva. Shiva, too. Leviathan couldn't in good faith harm her...but what...was she doing with Odin? The confusion only deepened with the rapid approach of others. Titan? Garuda? Ramuh? Bahamut? Phoenix? Even Ifrit? But how? Fighting, so much fighting--and a trench created by Odin's blade...Leviathan watched from beyond a wall of waves, watched as Dominants fought each other on the sea floor. Was that...Mythos?
Yet...Phoenix's presence was...divided; there were traces of the Fire Eikon with the man fighting Odin on the ocean floor and yet...a stronger Phoenix presence on a ship that had narrowly avoided falling into the trench.
They were still separate. It wasn't too late...
Perhaps the Eikon remaining on the Enterprise would feel it, an ancient presence of frightening power approaching rapidly--a presence never before felt by the Dominant, but perhaps recognized by his Eikon...an opposite, but not a threat. The waters surrounding the ship became calm, the wind more helpful in guiding their sails. And Yin, aware of the toll Dominants must bear with releasing their Eikons, hoped the Phoenix would remain still, just this once. The crew of the Enterprise might have caught a glimpse, the silhouette in the water, the massive serpentine body just below the surface--and just as it sank beneath the ship...it did not appear on the other side. Perhaps the crew was afraid, afraid the colossal beast would rise and capsize their vessel as monsters were want for destruction and yet...it did not appear again. No. Perhaps the crew was distracted by looking in the water for the creature or rushing to safety to brace for impact--perhaps none noticed a wave rising at the stern...
...nor the figure it deposited at the rail. There, silent, stood a tall and svelte young man dressed in ancient robes of gradient ocean blues and white, once flowing fabrics and long hair of night drenched and dripping onto the deck at his feet and around him, his only movement that of slow and controlled deep breaths as lungs drank the air they had not tasted for centuries. And his eyes, once empty pools of darkness now reflected the emotions he kept locked within himself, melancholy blending with a hope once thought lost...and relief as his gaze settled upon the presence that had drawn him to this vessel. Pale lips parted as though to speak, though only departed another slow and controlled exhale as he knew not what to say. Yin could only stare.

Gruvia Songfic. Candle On The Water
DISCLAIMER!
I do not own the image used and the song and the characters!
Blue stands for Juvia singing!
The setting took place in Fairy Tail. Everyone inside the Guild Hall was enjoying themselves, drinking, dancing, or acting as silly as Fairy Tail always did. However, there was one among them who wasn't feeling so chipper.
That person was Gray. Today was the anniversary of his late master Ur's death, and he couldn't help but feel depressed.
Eventually, after loitering around the guild for quite some time, Gray felt the need to take a walk.
The streets of Magnolia were empty, the night being relaxed and calm. Overall, it was a peaceful and serene night, perfect for someone wanting to wander. Gray wandered the streets of Magnolia, not having anywhere to go without a care. He just wanted to walk around, enjoying the cold of the night light while reminiscing about the good times he had with his master. While they were good nostalgic memories, they were also bittersweet as he remembered how Ur died.
Then, as Gray came to an archway, he heard the sound of clacking footsteps, which made him turn his attention towards the sound. Not too far from him, he noticed someone walking past. Someone he didn't expect to be out and about this time of night.
That someone was Juvia.
"What's she doing walking around by herself?" wondered Gray.
At first, the Ice Mage would have obeyed his first impulse to keep walking, but some nagging part of him wanted to follow her to see what the Rain Woman was going. After thinking for a bit, curiosity won out in his mind, and he silently followed her, ensuring she wouldn't hear him or detect his presence.
As he followed her, he couldn't help but wonder why he was doing this in the first place. After all, Juvia was the one who usually stalked him, and here he was doing the same thing.
Juvia had a deep passion for the Ice Mage and always acted obsessed with him enough to creep him out. But despite this unnatural crush, there were times that Juvia did some things that stood out in a good way to him.
He could still remember the scarf she had made for him last year on this day. She fought alongside him countless times and even risked her life for him. Back in the battle of Tartaros, she even helped save his reanimated father from the clutches of Keyes, the Black Archbishop.
Overall, despite her creepiness and obsession, Gray had come to grow fond of and care for the Rain Woman throughout his years of knowing her.
Eventually, Gray shadowed Juvia until he found himself on Magnolia's beach, a few yards away from the guildhall. The sounds of the ocean water washing and receding on the sand as the moon from above shone on the ocean water, giving the scenery a beautiful and mysterious atmosphere.
Gray then watched as Juvia took off her boots and walked towards the ocean waves, her pearl white feet leaving footprints in the sand. The Rain Woman then stopped just a few feet away from the water, the waves rolling up on the shore and washing over her feet as she stood there gazing towards the horizon.
"I wonder what she's doing over here?" Gray wondered in his thoughts.
As Juvia stared at the ocean, letting her mind drift, the ocean breeze blowing about her hair, she closed her eyes and started thinking about Gray and what day it was. Every memory of him reminded her of the kind of person he was. A man who had been through hell and suffering, rough around the edges, but still the person Juvia fell in love with. And even though she persisted and acted rashly, she knew that she and Gray had grown closer.
However, although she knew this, she always felt like the Water Mage hadn't proven how much she cared for the Ice Mage and would do anything to protect and support him no matter what. And since today was Ur's anniversary, she knew Gray was somewhere around Magnolia moping around brooding. She wanted more than anything to be there for him, but at the same time, she felt like she wanted to give him some space since Ur was a touchy subject.
Juvia then opened her eyes, gazing up at the sky once more, her heart swelling with love for Gray as she began to sing softly.
I'll be your candle on the water
My love for you will always burn
I know you're lost and drifting
But the clouds are lifting
Don't give up, you have somewhere to turn
As she sang, Juvia began to sway in place to her melody as she closed her eyes, recalling her times with Gray. From their first encounter in the war of Phantom Lord, all the battles she fought with him, and even when Gray was crying in her arms after finding out his father's fate. She also remembered when she and Gray were living together in Amefurashi Village. Those memories alone made Juvia yearn for Gray's touch as she continued.
I'll be your candle on the water
'Till ev'ry wave is warm and bright
My soul is there beside you
Let this candle guide you
Soon you'll see a golden stream of light
Juvia then stopped swaying as she opened her eyes, coming back to reality, gazing up at the sky as the waves seemed to wash up even further on her feet as if responding to her singing. The Rain Woman holds up her hand, reaching out to the sky, her voice growing more passionate, squeezing her hands in her chest while silently making a promise in the lyrics.
A cold and friendless tide has found you
Don't let the stormy darkness pull you down
I'll paint a ray of hope around you
Circling in the air
Lighted by a prayer
The waves recede, appearing to try and pull Juvia into them, and a giant wave comes barreling straight towards her. But then Juvia exploded into song, throwing her hands out, unwittingly using her magic power to split the waves part, making the water spray about, making a lunar rainbow appear as she continued to sing loud and strong as a smile grew on her face. She extended her hand, imagining herself holding it out to Gray as her voice grew softer, holding a note.
I'll be your candle on the water
This flame inside of me will grow
Keep holding on you'll make it
Here's my hand, so take it
Look for me reaching out to show
As sure as rivers flow
Juvia dramatically pauses as she squeezes her hand, retracting it into her chest as she gazes towards the ocean waves as she softly sings the final three lines of the song, and holding a sweet and pleasant note while looking up at the moon once more, a shooting star shooting across the sky.
I'll never let you go
I'll never let you go
I'll never let you go...
With the song finished, Juvia then sensed someone coming causing her to turn around only to find Gray standing there, with bewildered and wide eyes.
The bluenette couldn't help but jump in surprise. "G-Gray, my darling!" she squeaked, her cheeks tinging pink with embarrassment. "H-How long were you standing there?!"
Gray couldn't answer. He just stared at the Rain Woman, his eyes never leaving hers. There was a long silence until Gray walked toward Juvia, and as soon as he closed the distance, he wrapped his arms around her in a warm and gentle embrace.
At first, Juvia froze, unsure what to do or say, until she heard Gray break the silence.
"You didn't tell me that you were such a good singer. You'd give Mira a run for her money."
"Y-You mean you heard me?" Juvia gasped as she shut her eyes shyly. "I'm so embarrassed!"
"Don't be. Your voice is one of the most beautiful I've ever heard," Gray said. "And, it's nice to know that even at my worst, I'll have someone like you to pick me back up and bring me out of the darkness."
Juvia could only smile as she wrapped her arms around Gray, returning his hug earnestly. "I feel the same way, Gray, and as long as I'm alive, that will never change. And I'll always be there no matter what happens, even when you're at your lowest."
Gray then blushed as he stepped back. "Y-Yeah. I know," he said, now feeling shy himself. "Do you - want to do something together since we're here? I mean, I guess I could use some company."
Juvia smiled. "Of course. We'll make it a date! A date with just the two of us at the beach under a moonlit night!"
Gray then frowned. "Don't push it."
The two started walking along the shores together as the night rolled on.

Pete's Dragon - Candle On The Water [French Version]
A most beautiful love song from Pete’s Dragon, in French:
HERE, THE FRENCH LYRICS WITH TRANSLATION: Comme un petit point de lumièrre Conduis les bateaux vers le port Je voudrais être pour toi, celle qui t'éclaire Qui te veille quand tout le monde dort (Like a little speck of light Guides the boats to the port I want to be, for you, the one that brings you light, That watches over you when everyone is sleeping)
Je voudrais n'être qu'une étoile Qui, jour et nuit, brille pour toi Et même si, quelque fois, danse un peu la flamme On sait bien qu'elle ne s'éteindra pas (I want to be just a star That, day and night, shines for you And even if, sometimes, the flame dances a little One knows well that it won't die away)
C'est très banal, comme un programme Pardonne-moi, je n'ai rien inventé Mais si un jour, tu perds ton âme Sache qu'il y a quelqu'un pour t'aider (It's very banal, like a programm Forgive me, I haven't invented a thing But if one day, you loose your soul Know that there is someone to help you)
Comme un petit point de lumière, Celui que l'on oublie jamais, Je serai là, attendant, au bord de la Terre À trembler quand tu disparais Va faire ce qu'il te plaît (Like a little speck of light, The one we never forget I will be here, waiting, at the edge of Earth Trembling when you dissapear Go do what you love)
Je veux ce que tu veux...Pour que tu sois heureux...Pour que tu sois heureux... (I want what you want...For you to be happy...For you to be happy...)Moins
