Been thinking a lot about TURN: Washington’s Spies and the American Revolution lately. So here’s every original character I can theoretically stick into that universe… @eurydicefades 🫡
American Revolution podcast.
American Revolution: playlist.
TURN: playlist.
Benjamin Tallmadge: playlist.
Rococo playlist.
French History podcast.
In no particular order…

Audrey: based on Kitty Fisher and Charlotte Hayes, born 1750, turned 1780 at the age of 30. Well-to-do sex worker, coquette, disowned daughter of a Viscount. Abolitionist. She/they, bisexual-polyam. Vampire.
Camille: based on Mary Wollstonecraft and various French Revolution ladies. Audrey’s half sister, unlike her, never disowned, still hates her Viscount father. Abolitionist, anti-monarchist, pamphlet writer, and social climber. Turned into a vampire in 1790. She/her, bi. Vampire.
Artémise: Dutch and Black-Creole New York socialite, spy for the culper ring, and violinist. An informant, a fashionista, bit of diva, excellent listener. Will sell you out to Benjamin Tallmadge. She/her, bi.
Benjamin Fisher: Benjamin Tallmadge, vampire/anti-hero arc. He/him, bi (closeted). Staff to Washington, from New York, trying really hard to be good, but vampirism won’t let him. Turned by Audrey in 1781. Vampire.
Charles: Colonel in the British army. Good at following orders, only doesn’t like his job. It’s a constant existential crisis, he knows neither side is right, he’s sworn to the British by duty not by choice. Scottish and French, English born. Based vaguely on Ross Poldark. He/him, bi. Has a deceased wife and daughter he’s still mourning.
Eliott: Spy for the British army. Follows orders for social gain and security, not cause he wants to. Poet turned spy, he/him, bi. Much like Tallmadge, he is a young man, having control taken from him far too often. Really just doesn’t want to be hung as a traitor to the crown. Irish and Catholic. Hates all of the army, expect Major André and Simcoe.
Carlotta aka Charlotte: French socialite, unknowing informant to the Patriots. She/her, bi. Somewhere between culper ring spy and French nobility looking to escape France due to pending revolution back home. 1/2 characters here who are not made for battle situations.
Edith: Maryland based loyalist, loyalist out of love for her family. She/her, bi (closeted). Catholic but very English. A civilian caught in a bad situation, didn’t do anything wrong, unless love for one’s family is a sin. Honestly reminds me of a Liberty’s Kids character and Sarah Livingston (Turn) but younger. Of marriageable age (24), good natured, well meaning, loyalty to what she deems moral just has her in a bad situation.
Harriet: Boston based dress maker and painter, sometimes pamphlet writer. Free woman of global majority (colour), Black and Welsh. She/her, bi. Yet another civilian caught in a war they didn’t ask for. Declares neutrality to survive, probably more on the side of the continental army, but she’d rather not the gallows.
Verity, Nancy & Sally/the tombeor polycule: their last name isn’t actually their last name, it’s a French title meaning “performer.” Like a code name. A polycule of three black/Irish sex worker women who are all dating each other and their clients, at the same time, she/her(s) all bi-poly-sapphic. Sex workers and spies for the culper ring, but their loyalty isn’t a cheap. Technically they declare themselves neutral in the war, it’s all lies.

Tms October challenge (bonus!) prompt 2: Favorite paring/dynamic.
Ok! So for this prompt, I chose 2 of my favorite dynamics:
I’ve made it obvious enough to everyone (I hope) that my favorite dynamic has to be Jon and Kenny’s!! And I also love Luke and Camille’s relationship with each other too due to how wholesome as a friendship they were…but Kenny and Jon take the cake yet again for being the most biggest comfort ship to ever exist :3
(Btw sorry for the wacky description lol I’m writing this at like 1am in the morning rn and I have just finished the drawing)

Anti-hero

Pierced through the heart, but never killed. — Anti-hero, Taylor Swift

Tumblr media
I have reached the primary conflict of this fan-fiction, you guessed it, we are meta-analyzing again!
In alphabetical order, some information on our anti-heroes.
Audrey (my original character)…
Lyric: One day I'll watch as you're leaving, ‘cause you got tired of my scheming.
Species: Vampire. Turned 1780.
Orientation & gender: bisexual-polyam (non-discriminating!), she/they, demigirl.
Motive(s): presently, to get out of NOLA (in the fic). To survive night to night and get paid, that often involves social climbing and questionable ethics (in general).
Tumblr media
Benjamin Tallmadge (TURN)...
Lyric: Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism, like some kind of congressman?
Species: human (born February 25, 1754).
Orientation & gender: he/him, cisgender, straight (at least in this particular fic). He’d say, “not yout concern,” and justifiably point out the state of the nation, at war. Queer in the way of dandyism and bookish, nerd, but not LGBTQ+ (in this fic).
Motive(s): to not get killed (in this fic— presently). To finish what he began in founding the Culper Ring and beating the English.
Tumblr media
Camille (my original character)...
Lyric: “She's laughing up at us from hell!”
Species: Human ---> Vampire. Turned 1790.
Orientation & gender: bisexual (female lean), she/her, cisgender.
Motive(s): Aid her own revolution in France across the sea and keep an eye on her older (half) sister.
Tumblr media
Lestat de Lioncourt (Vampire Chronicles)...
Lyric: It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me. It's me, hi, everybody agrees, everybody agrees.
Species: Vampire. Turned 1780.
Orientation & gender: he/they, leaning for he/him most of the time, bisexual-polyam (non-discriminating!).
Motive(s): To save face and keep his pride from being insulted (in the fic). To be bold, defiant and a bit of brat, additionally as the primary narrator and anti-hero in Rice’s novels, to make questionable decisions that drive the plot (in general).
Tumblr media
Magdalena de Florence, The Vampire Prince (my original character)...
Lyric: I wake up screaming from dreaming, one day I'll watch as you're leaving and life will lose all its meaning.
Species: Vampire. Turned sometime in the 1500s.
Orientation & gender: she/her, cisgender, lesbian.
Motive(s): Vampire law, order, and good sense. “It is better to be feared than to be loved, if one cannot be both” (Niccolò Machiavelli, The Prince). Additionally, to keep a watchful eye on Lestat and Audrey, and ensure the masquerade, that protects all vampires is not broken or endagered.

Spotlight Art - Sunrise over the Fields, Eragny - 1891 - A Painting by Camille Pissarro - Sunrise From Mount Washington - A Poem by Rufus Dawes - Mount Washington Sunrise - A Photo by Tim Canwell
Sunrise over the Fields, Eragny, 1891 by Camille Pissarro About the Painting The artwork portrays the beauty of the French countryside as the first light of day bathes the fields in soft hues. Pissarro’s loose brushwork and his emphasis on capturing the fleeting qualities of light and atmosphere give this painting a sense of spontaneity and movement. The skimming light of the sun rising over…

Propaganda
James Stewart (The Philadelphia Story, It's a Wonderful Life, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington)—Ough I saw him first in It's A Wonderful Life, where he is very charming as a suicidal family man being absolutely crushed by capitalism. But then. The Philadelphia Story, in my opinion, should get the same kind of press The Mummy does for being a bisexual dream. Now I'm not really bi (not into women) and it's honestly up for debate whether i'm attracted to men or not, but COME ON!! The movie stars James Stewart as well as Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn (and Ruth Hussey). Stewart plays a common working man, a journalist, to contrast with Grant's character, who is mega-rich. He is scrappy and hates rich people. Hot! They have a whole scene together where he's super drunk and being really physical with his acting, which I love because he is kinda wet noodle shaped. Hot! He carries Hepburn in his arms while singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Hot! He gets punched in the face by Cary Grant. Hot!!! In The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, we get to see him portray an alternative type of masculinity, opposite John Wayne doing John Wayne. He is even more wet noodle-y, to put emphasis on his incompatibility with the rugged masculinity of the cow-boy, he wears an apron for a lot of the film, again, to blur his masculinity, and he gets shot. Hot! Also he's older here, if that's your thing. Long story short: He's giving librarian chic and The Philadelphia Story made me want to be poly.
Gilbert Roland (Camille, The Cisco Kid movies, The Bad and the Beautiful)—no propaganda submitted beyond pictures below the cut
This is round 2 of the bracket. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage man.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]

"Here he is next to Grant, in what I believe to be a promotional shot for The Philadelphia Story. Please don't get distracted by Grant (or do, i'm submitting him next)."
Tumblr media
"He’s a nice guy and a good guy and deserves all the happiness and joy ever! Classic boy next door/class president kid that everyone loves for real. Stand-up for the Little Guy vibes. With a charming fun side!!"

May I request a fic were reader is the older sister of the Mikaelsons and is married to Carlisle Cullen? Like it is just after Hayley gave birth to Hope and instead of sending her away with Rebekah, Elijah takes Hayley up to Forks where Reader lives to protect Hope? May I also ask for cute Elijah and Camille moments?
Oh I love this idea
Warnings: Fluff, Angst, Protective!Reader, Carlisle just simpin his wife, Y/N and Carlisle being love sick fools, cute baby Hope, Jealous!Hayley
Elijah knew Hayley would be upset bit it was to protect Hope as Klaus said they needed to get the youngest out of the city. Rebekah suggested their older sister which Hayley wasn't aware there was an older Mikaelson and Elijah agreed to take Hope there with Hayley coming with him.
Y/N Mikaelson was the twin sister of Finn and a powerful Heretic that had rained her rage on the Scooby gang when Finn and Kol was killed. Elijah had to call her husband Carlisle Cullen a vampire doctor and lucky them that he calmed his wife.
"So your older sister?"
"Twin of Finn and married a back in 1919, New Orleans. Dr. Carlisle Cullen surprisingly stood his own against Niklaus, Kol and Finn when we first heard of their relationship."
"Oh....she lives in Forks Washington? Why?" Hayley asked as they pulled up to a beautiful home. It was quiet and peaceful as Hayley started to get why the eldest Original may have chosen to settle down here.
"The family would have stood out in New Orleans." Elijah says holding Hope as Hayley was quick to take the baby. They stepped up to the house and before Elijah could even knock the door was opened and two young women threw themselves into his arms.
"Hello to you too Rosalie, Alice." Elijah says calmly to his adopted nieces as it was always like this when the others would visit, Rosalie and Alice would throw themselves at Elijah as they adored their adopted uncle.
"Elijah?" Elijah smiled hearing his sister's soft motherly voice and looked seeing Y/N standing on the steps. Hayley swallowed seeing how beautiful Y/N was like all of the Mikaelsons, she had long dark hair and hazel green eyes dressed in a long sleeved dress.
"Hello sister."
"Come here." Y/N says as Elijah stepped forward leaning into his sister's touch when she cupped Elijah's face looking him over. Hayley had never seen Elijah melt so quickly in someone's touch before and Y/N had them come in.
"Uncle! You brought a baby?" Emmett said as Esme placed some tea down while Hayley noticed they were vampires and a heart beat had her looking at Y/N.
"I understand you are going to have a little one of your own but please Hope needs protection." Elijah says gently taking Hope from Hayley and handling the infant to his sister.
"Of course my dear Elijah, we can watch over our little Mikaelson." Y/N said gently smiling down at Hope as Elijah smiled never seen his sister so happy not since the death of Kol and Finn.
"Uncle let me show you and...."
"I'm Hayley." Hayley said as Alice smiled brightly showing them the guestrooms when Y/N handed Hope back to her mother.
Hayley woke to the smell of breakfast being made and the sounds of playful flirting coming from the kitchen. Hayley went down stairs seeing Elijah feeding Hope while Y/N was being cuddled by her husband.
"Are you sure this is alright?"
"Of course Elijah." Carlisle says pulling away from his wife pressing a kiss on her temple before stepping over to Elijah.
"Goodmorning Hayley." Y/N says with a smile and placed a plate down for Hayley as Carlisle was checking Hope over making sure she was healthy. That morning Hayley and Elijah had to let go of Hope but knew they'll see the baby girl again.
It was early morning when Carlisle found his wife holding their niece as the sunrise shine though the window singing a lullaby in Icelandic. Carlisle felt his breathing hitch finding Y/N just gorgeous holding Hope and he couldn't wait to see her holding their child.
"My sweet girl, so innocent. I will protect you Always and Forever." Y/N whispered kissing Hope's forehead and Carlisle walked up warping his arms around her waist feeling the small baby bump. Y/N smiled kissing Carlisle lightly as he turned looking at a sleeping Hope gently rubbing her round cheek.
"She is a quiet one."
"She takes after Elijah, when we were children Elijah was a quiet baby. Always clinging to Finn and I."
"You speak of Elijah with such fondness."
"I must admit, Elijah is my favorite. Do not let my other siblings know." Y/N says as Carlisle chuckled nodding kissing his wife.
Y/N smiled hearing Hope's joyful laugher as Emmett played with the baby along with Jasper. The young vampire's took to Hope well and were protective of the baby and of course the wolves hear about it. Y/N sat in a circle of candles chanting to keep the barrier up around the house until a shock hit her making the Heretic cry out and her daughters were quick to her side.
"Mom?! Are you okay?"
"N..n..no. I need to call Elijah." Y/N said standing trembling having felt string magic reach out to her.
"No need uncle is here with a friend." Rosalie said as Y/N headed out seeing Elijah speaking with a blonde woman and Y/N smirked seeing Elijah cup the woman's cheek.
"You well be safe here Camille and I will return for you and Hope." Elijah says rubbing Camille's cheek as she blushed looking into his eyes getting lost.
"I'm sure me and your sister will get along fine."
"I know we will." Y/N said watching the two pull away quickly, Elijah was flushing looking away coughing as Camille was blushing badly. Carlisle chuckled leaning Camille inside as Y/N smiled at Elijah.
"Please watch over Camille, Esther is after her to get to me."
"Of course. That explains the magic back lash I felt earlier. Camille will be safe here as if our mother shows her face, I will kill her."
"I know sister." Elijah says understanding as Esther and her oldest never got along reasons Y/N wouldn't tell her baby siblings.
"So you and Elijah?" Y/N asked Camille that night making the human blush as the Heretic was making dinner as her husband and children were out feeding. Hope was in a baby swing sleeping as the women talked.
"Yes but Hayley also likes Elijah and I am pretty sure he would prefer her over me."
"No, Elijah likes you. I see the way he looks at you much like how my beloved Carlisle looks at me."
"Like what?"
"Unconditional love." Y/N says making Camille's heart skip a beat and watched as Carlisle had swooped in kissing his wife. Y/N giggled reaching up wiping the corner of Carlisle's mouth seeing drops of blood watching his pupils dilate when she licked it off her thumb.
"You little minx." Carlisle growled leaning in to kiss her roughly but his wife stopped him by covering his mouth with her hand.
"Carlisle we have a guest." Y/N say squeaking when he nipped her fingers as he leaned to her ear holding her hips.
"I'll get you back tonight."
"Looking for it Dr.Cullen."
Y/N held Hope as Camille sat next to the Heretic watching the boys wrestle as the family was out enjoying a picnic in the sun. Rosalie and Alice sat with their mother and Camille on the blanket while Hope laughed grabbing at the flowers. It was sudden as Camille jumped suddenly holding Hope behind Emmett, Jasper and Edward. Carlisle looked worried at his wife feeling her magic spark as a woman stepped out.
"Hayley! You scared us have to death!"
"She meant no harm sister." Finn's voice reached his twins ears as tears filled her eyes rushing to hug him as Hayley went to get Hope while Mikaelsons reunited. Y/N cupped Finn's face smiling as she cried and Finn smiled.
"Missed me too big sis?" Kol said getting smother with a hug from his sister as the rest of family happily joined the affection. Elijah stepped over to Camille smiling surprised when the human looped her arm though his as it warmed his heart not seeing Hayley's jealous stare.
"Are you sure sister?"
"Yes stay, relax. You all need a break besides you can bond with your daughter Niklaus." Y/N says as Klaus sighed looking over seeing his adopted nephews trying to take Kol down, Elijah standing with Camille talking with Esme as Rebekah and Finn caught up with the girls. Klaus knew sister was right and nodded hugging her getting a hug back.
"So Elijah and Camille?" Rebekah whispered to Y/N as they both watched Elijah and Camille talk as they sat on the deck.
"Yes I have been talking our dear brother up to miss Camille."
"Ma! Edward is bringing a girl home!" Emmett shouted from the front door and even though Y/N was three months pregnant she moved quickly. Edward had Emmett in a head lock as Jasper laughed walking by pressing a kiss on their mother's head as he passed.
"Who is she Edward?"
"No one mother."
"Her name is Bella Swan." Alice says clapping as Y/N smiled brightly taking Edward up to the living room making him groan listening to his mother talk. Of course Elijah joined in making Camille laugh behind her hand watching an old vampire act like the teenage boy he was.
"Young Edward, I hope you have been a gentleman?"
"Yes uncle."
Hayley watched feeling jealous seeing Camille dance with Elijah with her head on Elijah's chest as they slowed dance. Alice, Rosalie and Rebekah had planed a baby shower for Y/N and Carlisle and Elijah took it as a chance to show Camille his feelings. Y/N sat with her husband squealing quietly gripping Carlisle's arm.
"Darling calm yourself."
"I can't help it. They are so cute." Y/N said watching Camille shyly kiss Elijah's jaw making him smile placing a kiss on the corner of Camille's mouth. Camille's face exploded with blush hiding her face in Elijah's chest as he chuckled kissing her head.
"Out did yourself, sister." Klaus says sitting next to Y/N holding Hope smirking watching Elijah and Camille.
"I just want Elijah happy and Camille would be good for him." Y/N said smirking as Klaus chuckled while Hope bounced in hid lap. The family enjoyed the peace and quiet that they hadn't had in long before whatever new danger showed it's ugly head.

Hi Meera,
Hello! Happy STS!
This is your chance to gush about your current WIP, and tell me why it's so awesome. (No self-depreciation or humility is allowed; you're just awesome as your WIP!)
Aaaaand, go!
*sweating profusely* I haven’t even started on the serious writing part of my novella.
I am, however, a novella’s word count into this self indulgent fan fiction.
So… I guess it’s both. Thankfully, thematically, they are both similar enough that I can shout about both of them and it’ll make sense. So, here it goes…
Tumblr media
Both can be synopsized as: these characters are amoral/immoral liars and life ruiners/vampires/dragoons/Lestat in his ‘villain era,’ and I adore them, and relate to them, and if I make the reader think, if even for a little bit that’s a good thing, and if I can very slowly aid in chipping away at “purity culture,” I will. Me and Audrey are beyond caring at this point. Merteuil is a life ruiner and we accidentally encouraged it. Benjamin is a sunbeam liar and killer and he looked real pretty/handsome doing it. It’s really not our fault he’s kind to us and we are both ensnared by our own feelings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Liaisons x vampires: it’s unapologetically immoral (at least the characters are, which I don’t need to justify to anyone, given the source material that is the point) it is also bi… literally everyone is bi, and somehow, in this sole instance, Audrey and Camille (my vampire unreliable narrators) are put to shame by Merteuil and Valmont and their life ruining. I dare say the humans, in this work, though technically speaking… Audrey and Camille are human for a good percentage of this work, might as well be vampires for the way they take advantage of other people and “drain” people metaphorically. Additionally, vampirism as power allegory tied in with the trauma Cécile Volanges and Audrey have both endured or do endure in the novella. Only Audrey and Camille survive the French revolution of 1789.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anti-hero: Benjamin Tallmadge is the sole straight character in this entire fan fiction and I usually can’t write straight characters at all so this is a wild exception. (Don’t worry I have other fic(s) where he’s extremely bi and bi coded cause I said so and there’s not enough evidence in any direction so might as well be a fictional character). It’s about the moral quandary of war, politics, vampirism, family (at least for Lestat), and what trauma does to people. It started out as ten chapters inspired by/based on role-play now it’s 20+ chapters in and I’m researching the real life Battle of Yorktown and searching online archives for this fic, so, it might as well be a novella in complexity.

RULES:
All fictional women from a category will be randomized, and put into polls
Whoever gets 50 votes automatically proceeds into the next round. There won't be only one winner for each poll!
We will do one category at the time. We'll start with books.
We'll decide on a winner of each category, and then whoever had the most votes, will proceed into the Final 10.
I'll calculate how many votes each woman got, so that at the end of the voting, you can see how many other women also adored your favourite ones :)
This also means that once you vote, if there's someone else you also want to see in the finals, you can reblog and let your followers know who already has enough votes, and who needs more in order to proceed. I'll also sometimes reblog polls announcing that a certain character has made the cut, and now others need your attention. We're trying to see which ones are loved and adored enough to actually get a lot of votes, even with competition. The voting starts at the end of nominations!

It’s been what feels like upwards of a century since I uploaded something to not ao3, but, this is like… my fic magnum opus or something so… might as well.
