Mike and Will were best friends. Sometimes other things. They shared a simple interest with one another. An interest no one else would be able to properly understand. You. And when someone else tried to take an interest in you, they took it upon themselves to get rid of them. Of course you were always so sad when a friend you had become close with vanished out of nowhere, and when your dates never showed up, but that was just a bonus in Will and Mike’s plan. They'd always be there for you when you were lonely, sometimes making you feel like they were the only people there for you. Of course, you never knew they were intentionally making you feel that way, and intentionally driving away any other friends you might make. You just felt so loved having Mike and Will’s friendship, unaware of how they both wanted you in a different way. So much, they’d do anything for you. But apparently, you never got the memo.

You happily sped toward Mike and Will at the lunch table they were sitting at, greeting them both with a wide smile as you handed them a note.

"What's this?" Mike asked, taking it from your hands.

You sat down across from them, unable to contain your excitement, "Just read the note." you said, voice having a slight excited squeak to it.

Mike smiled at your excitement, before opening up the note and reading it.

'I got a date :)'

He felt his heart drop as he read your words. His brain went into overdrive, before he passed the note to Will, giving him a look.

Will’s eyes widened as he read it, not wanting you to see his anger. Mike however, did not care about hiding his expression. The thought crossed his mind a few times, but he was too focused on this. What did you mean, you got a date?

Will was a way better actor than Mike, as he quickly plastered on an eager look as he spoke to you, “So what’s his name?”

You were beyond happy over Will’s ‘support’, completely naive to his real intentions.

”It’s Conner, from our science class.” You gushed, waving to a boy sitting at another table, not noticing the scowl etched on Mike’s face as he saw him. He and Will were familiar with Conner. Every odd science lesson, he would ask to be your lab partner. They agreed they wouldn’t do anything about Conner unless he tried becoming friends with you, so they could stop anything else happening between the two of you. Apparently they were too late. Will had a plan though. He usually did.

“Do you guys have anything planned? Where are you two going out?”

Mike began listening more intently, immediately understanding what Will was thinking.

You shrugged, “We were just gonna watch movies at my place, since we don’t really wanna go out in public.”

Will and Mike nodded, an unspoken plan being formed, “Nice.” Will smiled.

Mike plastered a smile on his face, almost speaking through gritted teeth, ”Sounds fun.”

You looked so beautiful. You were laughing, and smiling, and the light from the tv screen illuminated your face in the most ethereal way. Mike and Will loved your smile. However they hated when you smiled because of someone else. No one else should be able to see you happy, let alone make you happy. So to say they were angry as they saw you laughing because of something Conner said through your living room window would be an understatement. Conner didn't deserve you. No matter how much you liked him, no matter how much he liked you, you two would never be right for each other. Mike and Will just needed you to realise that.

You were unaware of Mike and Will's presence, your attention on the boy beside you, until the phone rang. You left the couch where you and Conner sat, sending him an apologetic smile as you went to answer the phone.

"Hello, Y/N speaking?" you said, into the phone.

"Hello?" a low, gravelly voice responded.

You paused, waiting for an answer before realising you weren't going to get one, "Who is this?" you asked.

"Who's this?" they asked, much to your confusion.

"Is there someone you're trying to reach?"

"Well, what number is this?"

"What number are you trying to reach?"

"I don't know."

You narrowed your eyes, before speaking, "Then I think you have the wrong number."

"Oh do I?"

"Uh-huh. I gotta go now, bye." you said, ending the call and hanging up the phone. "Sorry about that," you said, walking back to where Conner was sitting.

"Who was it?" he asked, to which you shrugged, about to answer, only to be interrupted by the phone ringing again.

You sighed, walking back to the phone, picking it up with a huff, "Hello?"

"Hi."

Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion at the familiar voice, "Did you need something?"

"I wanted to apologise."

"For?"

"Dialling the wrong number."

"You're forgiven. Bye now." before you can hang up, the voice calls out.

"Don't hang up, I just wanna talk."

"I'd love to talk, but I have a friend over, I don't wanna keep them waiting."

"He can wait. I just wanna talk." the voice responded, to which you sighed, holding the phone away from you and turning to where Conner was sitting.

"Who is it?" he asked.

You shrugged, "I dunno yet, but they seem very persistent in talking to me. I'll try and hang up soon." you said, receiving an understanding smile from Conner, before you brought the phone back to you, "What do you wanna-?"

"Who was that?" the voice snapped.

"Just my friend? Now what do you wanna talk about?"

"How much do you like your friend?" the voice asked, giving you a bad feeling.

"What do you mean?" you asked, growing more and more cautious of the stranger.

A mocking laugh came from the phone, "How loud are you gonna scream when I slice Conner to bits?"

You whipped your head around, heart dropping when Conner was nowhere to be found. Much to their disappointment, you hung up the phone, running through the walls of your house, screaming Conner's name. The phone rang again, making you jump with fear. You raced toward the phone, picking it up and answering it.

"Who the fuck are you and what do you want?!" you imagined yourself sounding tough, but your face was drenched with tears and your voice was cracking from the fear.

The voice laughed, "Like I said, I just wanna talk."

"I don't wanna talk to you." you cried, heart racing with fear.

"Oh?" you could almost hear the smirk over the phone, "So you'd rather I slit Conner's throat right now?"

"No, please don't hurt him!"

"There we go," a low laugh came from the phone, "Now if you don't wanna hear your boyfriend choking on his own blood, you'll talk to me."

You felt your heart drop with fear, "H-how did you know we were-?" you stopped yourself from continuing, taking a breath to calm yourself, the sound of low static on the line making you uneasy, "Is that why you're doing this?"

A hum came from the phone, "Maybe you should just be more careful about which boys you date."

"Fuck you," you hissed, breaths heavy as you felt tears roll down your cheeks, "I'm calling the police, you dick." you hung up the phone, about to dial 911, when you heard a loud scream, followed by a thud.

The phone dropped from your hands as you saw Conner's mutilated body on the floor. Blood pooled from slits around his neck, arms and legs, staining the floor bright red. A choked sob escaped your lips and you went to run to his body, when a man in a black cloak and white mask walked in front of his body, facing you. You shook in fear, beginning to back away when someone else came behind you, wrapping their strong arms around your body to keep you from running. The masked man in front of you stalked toward you, and you began thrashing in their arms, attempting to escape, when he brought his hand up to his mask.

You felt your heart drop as you stared at the familiar dark brown eyes of your best friend, "Mike? Wh-what the fuck are you doing?"

He stared at you looking genuinely confused, "Did you not see this coming? Y/N, we've been friends with you for years, did you never think we deserved something a little more than that?"

You felt your breath hitch, "Will?"

The man behind you took his mask off as well, and you felt his hand grip your jaw, turning your head to face him, "Oh, this wasn't a one person job Y/N."

Mike nodded at Will, "There were way too many people getting too close to you, and we couldn't let that happen."

"Apparently this was the only way to get you to realise it, but you're ours, Y/N."

You felt Mike grab your hand tightly, sending a chill down your spine, "And we don't intend to let anyone take you away from us."

a/n- wrote this on wattpad, sorry for the weird spacing . also if u could not tell, angela is readers step-sis. im ngl this kinda is NOT my best writing but whatevs. it’s corny but i love corny shit.

“Is anyone else coming to your party?”

Y/N laughed as he lead the two siblings into rink-o-mania. "No Jane, you and Will are my only friends.”

They got their roller skates and moved to an empty bench to put them on. "Not even your step-sister?" Will questioned as he helped Jane untie the tangled laces on her skates.

"No way would she come, even if i invited her. Angela is the spawn of the devil. And plus, she's still mad at me because I didn't cover for her when she snuck out."

Y/N double knotted his laces and stood up, holding his hands out for his friends to take. "Shall we?"

They both laughed, letting him pull them into the roller-skating rink.

Eleven let go of his hand, doing a spin and smiling as she was cheered on.

"Oh my god! Y/N!!" Will held on to his hand tighter as Y/N started to go faster. He skating backwards, pulling Will along.

"If I fall, your coming down with me." Will warned, trying his hardest to keep his balance. He was too busy looking at his feet to see the look of pure adoration on Y/N's face.

Y/N made a particularly sharp turn to avoid a little girl, causing Will to loose his balance. "Shit!" He fell backwards with a thump, pulling Y/N right down with him.

He fell right on top of Will, quickly adjusting his weight as to not crush his friend. Y/N climbed off of him, redfaced. He couldn't even stand up due to how hard he was laughing.

"Shit! That's not funny!" Will himself could barely speak through his laughter.

Y/N pushed himself up off the dirty floor, wiping his hands on his jeans before offering a hand to Will.

Will took his hand, only to be pulled up with much more force than he was expecting. Losing his balance once again, he fell forward.

Y/N caught him, planting his hands on his biceps to steady him. Will blushed at their close proximity, averting his eyes from Y/N's teasing gaze. "Jeez Will, you didn't tell me how bad you were at this?"

Will scoffed in disbelief. "Hey! Neither of those times were my fault-"

"Y/N!" He was interrupted by eleven. She sped over to them, using the wall to stop herself. "I thought you said Angela would not be coming?" She pointed over to the DJ booth. Y/N followed her gaze.

Angela stood there with her gang, a sickening smile on her face. She held a small book to her chest. Y/N recognized it almost immediately.

"No..... no this is not happening right now."

The DJ stepped out of the booth, allowing Angela to take his spot. The music abruptly stopped, and all heads turned to her.

"Y/N, what's wrong?"

Y/N ignored his friends calling out for him as he skated towards the exit of the rink. He pushed through the crowd of people who had stopped, waiting for Angela to speak.

"It's my brothers birthday today! Everyone say 'Happy Birthday Y/N.'"

He had reached the exit to the rink, only to be stopped by two of angela's friends. Their taunting smirks didn't help the overwhelming dread inside of him. Y/N tried to push past them, but couldn't get enough leverage with the skates on.

"Since we are celebrating Y/N today, I thought it would be best if everyone knew who this snitch really is." Angela spoke slowly and mockingly, as if she speaking to a child.

Y/N practically ripped his skates off, and jumped over the small wall that separated the rink from the walking area. He could hear Eleven and Will hot on his trail.

Angela opened the small notebook in front of her. "So, I have his diary here. I learned a lot about Y/N from reading this! Reading two whole pages about his pathetic unrequited love for Will Byers really gave me some insight on his personality." She flipped through the pages until she landed on one from a few weeks ago. "Here! This is another favorite of mine.."

Angela's voice was drowned out by the roar of the crowd of teenagers in front of her.

Y/N rushed to the DJ booth, pleading for Angela to stop. "Why are you doing this?" He tried to snatch his diary out of her hands, but he was pulled backwards, slamming into a hard chest.

"What do you think your doing, queer?"

His heart beat rapidly in his chest as blood began to rush to his face. "I'm- I'm not. i'm not gay."

Angela's loud cackle made Y/N wince. "I have all the proof right here!" She jumped down from the DJ booth, and began to skate towards the rink. "C'mon y/n! Everyone wants to see!" She handed the diary to a group of boys reaching out for it.

Tears welled up in his eyes as his breathing became uneven. Clammy hands clawed at his throat, trying to gasp for air he couldn’t get.

"Your boyfriend is over there, Byers!"

Y/N's blood ran cold as he heard the familiar name. Not being able to bare will seeing him like this, he ran.

He burst out of the front door of rink-o-mania, wincing under the harsh sunlight. The California heat dried up the tears streaming down his cheeks. Not paying any mind to the fact that he was outside in only his socks, Y/N ran to his truck. It was a beat up pick-up that his dad had gotten him for his 16th birthday.

He jumped in the backseat and slammed the door, blasting the AC as he tried to catch his breath. His vision was blurred by tears, so he couldn't drive away even if he wanted too. Being a year older and having his license meant that Y/N drove Eleven and Will around everywhere. Including rink-o-mania. No matter how much he wanted to go home, he couldn't strand them there.

Y/N banged his fists against the seat in front of him in anger, cursing his stupidity. "Damn it! Why would I write it? Shit... I'm such an idiot." He muttered to himself.

Y/N hid in his car for the next 30 minutes, his legs splayed across the backseat in a pathetic attempt to get comfortable. Eventually the panic attack had ceased, and he was able to breathe and see clearly. He was hiding from everyone who had witnessed Angela cruelly outing him, but more importantly he was hiding from Will.

His feelings for Will are the most important secret Y/N had ever kept. He could bare hiding away his feelings and his identity, if it meant keeping Will in his life. But now it was all ruined.

Self-hatred swarmed his mind like a hive of angry bees. Y/N wanted nothing more than to just like girls. To be normal.

He cursed himself for wondering more about what Jane and Will might think, rather than his own safety. Y/N doubted Jane even knew what 'gay' meant. But Jane wasn't the one that Y/N was really worried about. it was Will.

A small voice of reason in the back of his head spoke. He knew Will would never shame him for who he was. But what would he think about his feelings for him? Y/N's love for him being requited was not a genuine possibility that ever crossed his mind.

Y/N was startled out of his thoughts by a knock on the window opposite of his seat. His heart rate sky-rocked at the sight Will. He was standing there, eyes swimming with tears. He held Y/N's shoes in his hand, silently pleading him to unlock the door.

Y/N shook his head, tears threatening to spill again.

Will didn't take no for an answer, he only knocked harder. "Y/N please just open the door. I just want to talk." His voice was muffled, but Y/N could hear it cracking as he began to cry.

Y/N looked up quickly, clearly alarmed by his crying. He reached over to unlock the door and then sunk back into his seat, moving his legs so that Will would have room to sit. He stared out the window, refusing to meet Will's gaze as he climbed into the car.

Will grabbed his shoulders and forced Y/N to face him. "Hey..." He pulled him into a tight hug, allowing Y/N to cry into his shoulder. They sat in the backseat of Y/N's pickup, both crying and hugging. He felt relieved to have some sort of comfort. Y/N knew that realistically Will would never treat him cruelly, but he couldn’t help the anxiety engulfing his mind at the thought of it.

"I'm sorry." Y/N muttered into his shirt.

Will pulled away from the hug to look at his tear-stained face. "What are you apologizing for?"

Y/N averted his eyes, cheeks heating up in embarrassment and shame. "What Angela said in front of everybody. About me... and you." He pulled away from Will completely, bracing himself for a gentle rejection.

"Don't be sorry for that. Please.... Y/N look at me." His eyes met Will's without even a second thought. He grabbed Y/N's face in his hands. "Don't be sorry. I know I'm not."

Y/N's eyes widened in shock. He refused to believe what was practically being spelled out for him. "What do you mean?" He struggled to get the words out, trying to choke back another sob.

In a moment of bravery, will's lips met Y/N's. The initial shock wore off quickly, and Y/N eagerly responded to the kiss. His hands gripped Will's shirt, gently pulling him closer.

They pulled away to catch their breaths, but Y/N didn't waste a second before chasing after his lips. He pulled Will down by the back of his neck and connected their lips once again. He squeezed his shoulder affectionately, urging Will to climb onto his lap.

Will indulged his silent request, moving to straddle Y/N's hips. They pulled away, chests heaving and lips swollen.

"Your 'pathetic' love for Will Byers is definitely not unrequited." Will stared down at y/n, an adoring smile on his face.

"I'm glad to know."

You clutched the book tight in your hand, but not hard enough to damage the cover or any of the pages. It had been almost a year since you saw Will. You kept in contact, you would send the occasional letters, but you got caught up in school and your after school job so you opped for extra money from babysitting and gardening and then calling him every second Sunday.

Mike knocked his shoulder against yours, motioning for you to grab your stuff. You reached up and grabbed your bag, following him off the plane. You had made it to California, your stomach swirling with anxiety at seeing Will again. You looked over Mike's shoulder seeing Will, El, Jonathan and, by your guess, one of Jonathan's friends in the seats.

El waved to Mike and they rushed to each other. You smiled at Will before running at him, throwing your arms around his shoulders. Will wrapped his arms around your waist resting his head on yours.

Once you stepped back you hit his shoulder. "You little shit you got taller," You snarked, smiling up at him.

"No I think you just got shorter," Will shot back with a goofy smile. "Oh I uh, I made you something." Will held out a dark brown canvas paper, a lighter cream string tied around the middle. "But maybe wait until we get home, it's kinda big and there's a lot of people here."

You smiled and nodded, running your fingers over the top. "I didn't do something so creative, but I got that book you wanted by… Alice what's her face," You laughed as you forgot the author's name and handed Will the book. Will smiled, scoffing in disbelief, smiling at the Blue bow you tied around it. Will turned the little tag over in his hand.

To Will, love from Y/N

"Y/N," El called, smiling happily at you. You spun around to her giving her a hug as Mike and Will finally said hi.

"Hey El," You smiled pulling back. "Look at how long your hair is," You noted, brushing at El's bangs. You took your hands back, shoving them in your jacket's denim pockets.

"You Y/N right?" Jonathan's friend interrupted with a question, gesturing at you. You stuttered slightly but nodded anyway.

"Oh yeah, Y/N/N this is Argyle," Will introduced. "Jonathan's friend." You smiled and nodded.

"Hi," You greeted and smiled.

"Sweet to finally meet you man," Argyle said with a dopey smile.

"Good to meet you too," You said maintaining your smile.

"Shall we go?" Mike asked, guessing out of the airport. The others nodded to Argyle and Jonathan, leading you all out. Will looked over at you, before sliding his hand into yous. You smiled, laughing quietly to yourself before lacing your fingers together.

SOMETIME LATER

"She'll be alright," You assured with a nod, referring to El hitting Anglia in the face with a roller skate. Will knelt next to you, helping you set up a bed in his room. "She is tough."

"Yeah, but Mike's being kinda a dick about it," Will sighed fluffing out a dark blue pillow before dropping it with the others.

"Well, Mike has always been 'kind of a dick'," You laughed softly, moving to sit on Will's bed. "Can I look at the painting now?" You nodded to the rolled canvas that rested on Will's desk, a mess of acrylic and watercolours mixed around.

"Oh shit, yeah," Will cursed, wiping his hands on his jeans before grabbing the painting, knocking a few tubes of paint off. Will held it out to you, like he did before at the airport. You took it, slowly uniting the slightly frayed string. Will sat next to you, your shoulders touching. "It's not much but, I don't know…" Will shrugged, watching your fingers move across the canvas.

You unrolled the painting, a smile already forming on your face. It was a landscape of hued blues and greens of a stream; pink, purple and red flower shapes lining one side of the reflective river. Lime and forest green trees took up most of the space on the left side of the page, orange and pink sunset sky with white clouds took up the rest of the space; except, for the two figures holding hands that stood in the trees.

"I tried to make it look like us," Will explained pointing to the figures, nervously bouncing his leg. "I don't know how well I succeeded." You laughed softly, leaning over and resting your head on his shoulder. Will moved his arm, resting it on your shoulders, rubbing shapes with his fingers on your shoulder.

"I love it," You whispered with a love sick smile. You titled your head up, slowly taking Will's hand that rested in his lap, rubbing your thumb across his knuckles. "I love you." Will smiled down at you, just as lovesick. Will squeezing his hand in yours.

"Can I kiss you?" Will whispered, eyes flicking across your face. You pushed yourself up, placing Will's painting carefully to the side before spinning back to him.

"Absolutely," You confirmed with a smile and a quiet giggle. Will reached his hand out, holding your cheek and bringing your face to his. You rested one hand on his leg for support, the other gripping at his flannel shirt. Your lips danced together, losing yourself in each other.

Once you pulled back, equally out of breath as each other, Will huffed with a smile. "God I've missed you," Will whispered, before pulling you back to him. You smiled against his lips, sliding the hand that rested on his shirt up to his neck.

Ghostface!Byler Headcanons

normally reader is gn for headcanons but for Will reader is ALWAYS male.

These two as ghostface would be chaotic.

They’d probably get away with it too.

As for you, they’d kill people for you and maybe even scare you as Ghosyface whenever you flirt with someone on purpose.

They do like talking you and following you around.

Occasionally calling you as Ghostface too.

If you’re psychotic like them then they’d let you join you.

EITHER way it doesn’t take long for you to figure out they’re Ghostface because it’s pretty easy.

That changes a lot. Their demeanor changes and their act of being these sweet and totally not psychotic friends changes.

They kidnap you or force you to be with them. And still kill for you. And scare you if necessary with threats.

If you happily join them then they’d probably still be sweet and kind. And bonus if you’re secretly psychotic like them.

ngl, i can mainly see this working if you were part of the party since it started. you and mike were will's first real friends, he felt safe around you both. safer than he'd ever felt around anyone else.

you felt the same for the two of them, you weren't entirely sure what set them apart from your other friends, but they were always that bit more special to you.

i'm not really going to touch on how exactly you got together because that would take too long, but i feel like you and mike would probably be the first to initiate anything romantic. when at hawkins middle school, back in s1 when will was still missing, mike kissed you instead of el while dustin rambled abt chocolate pudding. ever since then, you knew there was something between you both, so it was only a matter of time before you realised it for will too.

honestly, you probably never had the "what are we?" talk. it was more of a "wow, we all act like a couple." "does that mean we are one?" "i guess." bam, happy days!

mike has a jealousy problem. he just does. he's rlly worried that you're both going to leave and find something 'better' because he knows that he can be selfish from time to time. but you and will always reassure him that you're happy together and he feel better.

that doesn't stop him from glaring at anyone who flirts with either of you two and passive aggressively putting himself in the conversation.

will isn't the best with expressing his love with words, so he would definitely draw something for you both or make you fucking great mixtapes with love songs and songs that remind him of both of you as a way of reminding you that he loves you so much.

when you guys cuddle, you and will take turns being in the middle. sometimes he gets really bad nightmares because of the upside down and physically cannot sleep unless he can feel both of you to know that he's safe and you're safe.

speaking about the upside down, they will literally be so worried for you whenever there's anything bad going on. they know you're, like, the most badass person ever and can definitely take care of yourself, but they're always scared that you'll try to take on too much by protecting and helping others that you'll get hurt in the process.

they're so supportive of everything you do it's crazy. they think you're the coolest person in the world and admire you so much. if you do any sports or clubs that involve competitions or showcases, they will be front row, holding banners, signs, screaming, whatever it takes for you to know that they're there and they couldn't be prouder.

will moving away was really difficult for you all and honestly, mike nearly ended it between you guys because he was scared for long distance but thankfully you managed to talk some sense into him before will found out and spiralled.

you guys write letters and call literally all the time.

Hi guys, it is me, Noah Schnapp. I just decided to post this here since Ross left his Tumblr acccount logged in while he was busy dragging someone into the basement.

(btw ross stop reading demogorgan x reader fanfiction you literally write the show just make a self insert)

Anyways, I've seen alot of Mike x Will posts on my Tumblr. I originally saw this on accident and immediately notified Ross of this. But that wasn't enough, nobody even believed Ross! So I have decided to address this.

First of all, Mike isn't gay. He's just a white heterosexual male who just listens to The Cure and George Michael all of the time. He might not like Jane, but that doesn't mean Mike is gay.. It just means he probably likes some other girl.

Second of all, all of the "videos" and "screenshots" of me saying I support Byler are all fake and photoshopped / deepfaked. I would never support such sinful behavior. Will is gay and Mike is straight. End. Of. Discussion.

Finally, Trike isn't actually that major in Season 5.. It's just Troy confessing his love to Mike as he dies, and Mike crying over his dead body in a completely heterosexual way. They don't even kiss, that's also photoshopped.

I hope you all agree with my post, and get ready for Season 5! I'm in most of the scenes, and you will get to see alot of Wilmes moments! (Which you guys have all wanted since Season 1)
