Hi! About the IkeSen questions, I was wondering what would you answer for these ones:
2. Who’s your least favorite warlord?
7. Least favorite route?
12. What do you want to see in the future for the series?
(*^‿^*)
Aaah, hello, hi, yes! Thank you!!
Who’s your least favorite warlord?
As Love Interest? Sasuke. He reminds me too much of a person who is like a brother to me - unfortunately, he is not my actual sibling, so we were shipped together for YEARS -.- A very uncomfortable situation, haha, even more so since he sometimes said that I’m like a mom to him.
Other than that... I don’t think I have anything against them too much? I didn’t particularly like Ieyasu at first, because well, I am an insecure person and people like him do make it harder for me to have any sort of confidence. But he’s overall a rather fun character, especially when Masamune teases him, haha.
Least favorite route?
I have two candidates, but for different reasons. Plot-wise, Yukimura’s. I enjoyed parts of it, but in the end it felt somewhat flat and there was one major moment when I was this close to shaking some sense into him, haha. Buut, it’s better than I remembered it to be - I first played IkeSen in 2018 and whew. I did not know there were no bad endings. I loved Masamune’s route, it was my first. I did not know there were guides. I ended up on dramatic ending. Got stuck there for a week. I thought it was the bad ending. And then I picked Nobunaga, he tried to use me as a cup, so I switched to Yukimura, he decided I was a boar woman, so I said “you don’t know how to behave, bye” and uninstalled the game, haha. Oh well, a little dramatic.
For the enjoyment alone: Kenshin’s route. I did not know what I was going into. It was draining. My experience improved after I changed my approach to it, but whew, I could have used some warning before starting it.
What do you want to see in the future for the series?
Less idealistic and more competent MC. More engaging events, which aren’t just a repeat of same old tropes. Fluff. I want them all to get their happy ending. Possibly the return of items which can be used again for other events, don’t disappear at the end of the event you get them from (at least for collection events).
Although, honestly, I have low hopes for any of that. However, I hope they do know when to stop adding onto the main story, because that, hm. That could go wrong, simply as that. Especially if the quality of the writing drops or the tone shifts too much. I’m afraid some plot holes might have appeared already, but it’s basically old story by now. They do depend on the reader to ignore some things for the setting to work, the only question is whether they’re intending to try to see how far they can push it. (This isn’t about Act II in particular, just general thoughts).

Hello again. I know I have an ask sitting in my own inbox, buuuut... maybe... could I have 🍑, 🌳, 💜,🌸 for Jeer-Tei and Pelath please?
Sure thing!!
🍑 Where is your OC’s favourite place to relax or calm down? Recount a story of their time spent in this place! What makes it so special to them?
Jeer-Tei: Lake Ilinalta/Lakeview Manor for sure! One of Tei’s favorite memories/stories of the place is when the crew camped out on the land before any building started. The night was the clearest they’ve seen in all their few years of living in Skyrim, & Tei spent most of sharing stories of their childhood back in Hammerfell. Though if you had to ask what made the area special to them: It’s where Kaidan proposed to them & Rumarin, & where the two welcomed Tei back in safe, loving arms after the defeat of Alduin.
Pelath: Eldergleam Sanctuary. While it’s notably different than the Eldergleam he saw during the events of VIGILANT, Pelath finds the more closed off setting much more comforting-It wasn’t uncommon for her to travel to the sanctuary and rest among the roots; sometimes he can still hear the soft notes of the Bard’s lute. It’s an important place to Pel because he sees it as a space of healing, if not triumph. The events that transpired were terrifying, but she came out changed for the better.
🌳 Compare your OC to themselves from 10 years ago. How has their mental state changed since then, how have they aged and grown up? Would they say they’re in a better place than they were back then or do they need help? What advice would they give their younger self? What advice would their younger self give to them now?
J: They had definitely matured mentally; young Tei was very childish & made some poor choices, to say the least. They would consider themselves in a better place, but the stress of being Dragonborn (& later a notable political figure) definitely takes a toll on them; there’s days where help is needed buut they’re a bit too stubborn to reach out. If the two were to meet, current Tei would advise their younger self to approach situations more carefully/be more careful who you run with, whereas younger Tei would remind them to reach out to others when they’re in need.
P: Pelath would say she thinks she strengthened mentally. She still thinks there’s more growing to do & will openly admit that he still needs help, but would definitely tell baby Pel to keep holding on despite future challenges. I’m not too sure if his younger self would have advice to give though....
💜 Music or Silence? Swords or Spells? Cities or Nature?
J: Music, Swords pfft imagine being a mage #twohandedtankgang, Nature
P: Music, Both (Pel’s a Spellsword!), Cities
🌸 What does your OC’s voice sound like? Their laugh? Are they good at singing? Do they have an accent?
J: Even with that trademark hiss Argonians have, Jeer-Tei has a smooth, deep voice, if not soothing at times! They have what you could describe as a belly laugh, & while their singing isn’t awful they tend to be a little off-tune. They don’t really have much of an accent, if not counting the raspy American one Argonians have in-game.
P: Pelath is very soft-spoken; his voice gentle & fluttery, the latter especially so when anxious. Her laughter is soft & sweet, & Pel’s quite the talented singer! Granted she doesn’t plan on performing anytime soon. Pel has more of an English accent.
I actually have voice claims/inspirations for these two as well! For Tei it’s Dave Fennoy & for Pel it’s Jim Sturgess!

Omg, I am so not ready for tomorrow. Last chapter for bmb 😭. Thank you so much for giving me something to look for during pandemic. Oh, do you have any plans to do a series with the boys as bts and not au? 👀 But seriously, I friggin love your writing! I was never into reading text writings, but yours is the first and only one I’ve enjoyed. I also like how you do long stories too instead of text only series. 💜💜💜💜💜
i am sooo not ready to say goodbye to this fic :( think i got a bit too attached to this bc i love them all so much . these characters were so much fun to do honestly .
nd the closest thing to doing something like that is the series i have going right now - wild wild wilderness... it’s set like within in the soop . buut i haven’t put much thought into doing something where they’re them bc i would have to align w their personalities nd creating characters are my favorite part - but a one shot yeah ., i’d do it!

best decision possible
pairing: finn/poe dameron, background han solo/leia organa
fandom: star wars (sequel trilogy)
rating: general
word count: 1650
summary: Finn is set up on a blind date by their boss’ wife. It turns out better than expected. (blind date + nonbinary finn)
(finally back from my creative slump. continuing my project, i hated this before buut grown to like it. also tros was an absolute shit show so i’m ignoring canon now more than ever before! hope you enjoy!)
read on ao3
If you were to ask Finn what they had said yes to, they wouldn’t quite know what to answer.
They can’t remember the last time they’ve been on a date.
There’s been a lot going on in between their first date with Rey till now, and that backfired, as much as you can call meeting your best friend a backfire.
What they lacked of romantic spark was made up for with constant joking and starting a food war, to the point where the restaurant warned them about getting kicked out if the two of them didn’t behave.
It was also Rey that insisted they agreed to this.
This, being, a blind date set up by their boss’ wife.
Amongst all the weird things Finn have experienced, this might be in the top three.
Their internship continued to exceed their expectations, especially with how laid back previously mentioned boss, Han, was.
First day Finn called him Mr. Solo, he scoffed and made them swear never to call him by his last name again.
They were rather speechless, though, when Han asked them into his office after the closing meeting before the holidays, and what Finn thought would for sure be trouble turned out to be question.
“Hey kid, I told you about my wife, right?”
Finn had to blink, “Uh, yes, Leia?”
“That’s right. Anyway, she’s got this idea and she’ll kill me if I don’t help her.”
That was intriguing, to say the least, but only got more complicated when it turned out Han’s wife was looking to set up their neighbour with someone.
‘Desperately single’ neighbour, a direct quote from the boss himself.
And Finn wasn’t all too crazy about being set up with someone like this, they’d never seen the person, but Han was quick to dismiss them when he got a phone call.
Truth be told, they hadn’t given this any further thought till Monday that week, where a text from an unknown number pinged in.
Finn, Poe didn’t know what restaurant to choose so I made a reservation for you on Han and I’s favorite, hope you don’t mind. Told him seven, just say my name in the door. Leia.
It was a moment of anxiety, to say the least.
Finn would’ve turned it down, if it hadn’t been for Rey asking them what was wrong until they gave in.
“We need to find you something nice to wear.” was all she had said.
“What?!”
“You’re not going to wear to that on your date, are you?”
And they had to look down themself a moment, cause as much as Rey isn’t a fashion expert, they did need something more formal, but, “I’m not going on a date, Rey.”
She scoffed.
“Yes, you are.”
“Am not.”
“Is so!”
And well, here Finn is. In a restaurant they’ve never been in, a week before Christmas, a glass of red wine in front of them.
They only feel slightly out of place.
They also got here early.
Might as well be in good time for the date they didn’t fully agree on.
Rey assured them they would be fine, and Finn knows Han, they know he wouldn’t put them into anything horrible, they’re Han’s favorite intern, even if he won’t admit it.
They’re constantly switching between texting their best friend, and looking at whoever comes through the door.
Finn only has a name and no face to put on their mystery date, let alone a description.
Maybe they should just leave.
Make a run for it.
They receive the twentieth text composed of Rey telling them to calm down. have some more wine. get laid. when a voice above them says, “Finn?”
Finn almost drops the phone in shock. Almost being the key word.
They fumble with the device, ultimately shoving it in a pocket of the suit Finn hasn’t worn since they attended a friend of a friend’s wedding six years ago, and looks up.
Needless to say, they got a bit of a lump in their throat now.
In front of them is a curly haired man, almost golden in the dimmed light.
Finn can tell their mind is already going to being dramatic, then realises the man, Poe, is probably waiting for a reply.
“Yes. I’m Finn, I mean.” they stutter out, standing up and shaking his hand, “Hi.”
Poe’s smile is warm with a tinge of something, is it a smirk? Finn can’t tell.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Poe.” he says, sits down after them, continuing, “I’m not sure how much Leia told you about me, uh, but yeah. I’ve never tried this blind date thing before.”
Finn feels a sense of relief washing over their face, and their stomach, which is now significantly absent of a knot.
“We’re in the same boat, then.” they tell him, trying to laugh the rest of the nerves away.
Poe looks pleased.
“Thank god.”
They both laugh, and well, this is okay.
It’s only been, like, five minutes, but it’s a better opening than Finn had feared.
And, well, then time goes by for a short while with shy glances at each other as they order the food, and Finn has to give it to Leia, this place is nice.
Expensive, too, but they can’t be thinking about that when someone who looks like they’re taken out a of fairy tale is sitting in front of them.
Poe smiles at them again, “Tell me about yourself.”
Finn blinks, doesn’t really know what to say, “Myself?”
Poe laughs.
They wonder if he spends a long time in front of the mirror every morning, or if his hair really sits perfectly like that, curls framing his face.
Except the stray ones that he keeps pushing away from his forehead.
“I can start, if you like?”
“Sure, I mean… Go ahead.”
Poe has a concentrated look on his face before speaking again, “I work in a bakery.”
Finn didn’t expect that, but they smile at the man even more than before.
“Really?”
“Uh huh.”
A gesturing hand makes them speak up, “I, uh, maybe Leia told you. I’m an intern in Han’s company, at the moment.”
Poe nods. “She did.”
The wine comes, then the food comes, and damn, this is amazing.
Finn has to try their best and not devour everything in front of them in twenty minutes, then again, this man keeps distracting them from other things on their mind.
“Leia and Han are in the flat across from me, you know. Leia’s almost like a mother to me, really.” Poe pauses to take a sip from his glass, then chuckles, “Especially when it comes to my love life.”
Finn can’t help but grin.
There’s a couple of minutes where Poe looks wistfully at them, looking deep in thought.
They almost want to ask if something’s wrong when the man speaks up, “I’m a bit surprised you agreed to this, honestly. In the holidays, even.”
Finn shrugs.
“My best friend talked me into it.” they say, but regrets how it comes out.
Poe doesn’t look fazed though, simply nods.
“I’m glad she did, now.” Finn then has to say, almost blurts out, because Poe looks gorgeous and his eyelashes are extremely long and fluterry and Finn can’t concentrate, “Please pretend I didn’t say that.”
“I’d rather not.” Poe answers, and you can’t blame Finn for not knowing what to do with themself, then.
They agree on dessert, and over that, the talk goes. And goes. And goes.
Poe had a year in the military, apparently. Finn can’t imagine.
It’s been two years since he last was on a date, Poe tells them, laughing at himself, and the fact that his ex-boyfriend convinced him to let Leia set him up is a bit hilarious.
They’re surprised until Poe laughs, clearly seeing the irony in that.
Finn tells him how they met Rey, and about their writing, despite their best friend being the only one knowing of their secret dream, til now.
“What’s your writing like?” and Poe actually looks intrigued.
Finn has to look at him for a moment, wondering if they should lie but deciding against it, before answering, “I like science fiction.”
The smile appearing on the man’s face now is impeccable.
“I like the sound of that.”
When Finn glances at their wrist watch, it’s suddenly showing past nine, but the same cheesy Christmas songs are playing for the fifteenth time on the speakers, and Finn really doesn’t want this to end right now.
Han made a good decision of listening to his wife.
Finn made the best decision possible of listening to their best friend.
They decide to split the bill, after half an hour of tiptoeing around even asking for the bill in the first place.
And walking out, Finn’s not sure what the next move is.
Poe keeps giving them this look, sometimes eyeing them up and down, and they wish he would stop, but also doesn’t because if this doesn’t result in a second date Finn might just scream.
A text beeps into their phone, and Rey is asking youve been silent for 4 hours. are they hot???
“So,” Poe speaks up, stealing Finn’s attention once again, like he’s been doing it forever, “I don’t know if you’re okay with me asking this. Being our first date and all.”
Finn has to laugh, fondly of course, and their finger’s hovering over the screen, still on Rey’s message, while replying, “Depends on the question.”
“I’d like to walk you home. Would that be alright?”
And hell, Finn returns the phone to where it came from, grinning so hard their mouth might get permanently stuck.
They’re even feeling so brave that they take the man’s hand, because their place is about twenty minutes away and it just can’t go fast enough.
“I’m not stopping you.”
Rey can get her answer in the morning.

Artist spotlight: Mion Jazri!

Introduce yourself Hi! HI! My name is Mion Jazri-- MJ for short! I'm 16 years old and l'm Filipina, nice to meet y'all! Aside from drawing, I enjoy reading stories, baking, anime and games! I'm in a bunch of fandoms but mainly in the riordanverse, promised neverland, and pokemon fandoms. When did you start drawing? Are you a digital or traditional artist? I started taking art seriously around 3-4 years ago, and I consider myself as both as I play around with both medias a lot! Which mediums are your favorites? Did you try going digital? Watercolors! Which was a surprise for me as I used to hate using it. That said I tend to move from one supply to another depending on what seems fun at the time. And uhh, yes. I've tried digital. ((((I THink I should've chose one from digital or traditional artist ashfjdhfk)))) Do you use any traditional mediums? If so, which are your favorites? (((YEAS I should've chosen one-))) Ah and as I've mentioned I prefer watercolors currently.
Tumblr media
Why do you prefer traditional over digital? (or viceversa) I don't prefer one over the other. I have different stuff I like about them~ What do you think is the most challenging part about being a traditional/digital artist? Traditional: Unlike in digital drawings, it is quite hard to fix mistakes. For me there's more worries when it comes to messing up because messing up means using more of your art supply so I find it hard to experiment with new stuff.Digital: Although it is easier to make different effects in digital compared to traditional art, I find it hard to replicate natural textures that different traditional mediums create. But my main problem has always been 'It doesn't FEEL as natural as traditional art' and I find it easier to create when the natural feeling is there if that makes sense. What inspires your pieces? A lot of random stuff actually! Sometimes I'd finish reading a book or playing a game or watching a show and I'd get inspired to draw my favorite characters or scenes. Sometimes I look back at my old stuff and get the urge to redraw them! Sometimes they're stories for my characters that I just want to see illustrated.
Tumblr media
Explain your "everyday" drawing process As I mostly do character drawings, if I'm drawing an original character I'd think about the design of them first but if it's fanart I would start by thinking of a setting of sorts that would suit them. Then I'd usually sketch poses that I imagine would suit them or I just want to see them in and then I would just line and color them in! Sometimes playing around with new techniques and sometimes just going with what I usually do. Most of the time though, before I make completed pieces of a character, I'd sketch them a lot first just to get myself used to drawing what they look like, making it feel more natural when it's time to draw an actual piece! Do you have an artist you admire (or more than one)?
!!! A lot! BUUT it'll probably be too long if I listed them all so I'll mention a few!Anemona ( https://www.instagram.com/anemonaderio/?hl=en ) Tessa ( https://www.instagram.com/tamori.n/?hl=en ) Emperpep ( https://www.deviantart.com/emperpep ) Raemion ( https://www.instagram.com/raemion/?hl=en ) Aznponie ( https://www.deviantart.com/aznponie12 ) Meghan ( https://www.tumblr.com/search/toastchild ) Alyssa ( https://www.deviantart.com/walkingmelonsaaa ) Jazza (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHu2KNu6TtJ0p4hpSW7Yv7Q)There's still a whole lot but I don't want to make this too long for everyone aha Is there an artwork you are most proud of? Why? Yes! Although it's surprisingly an old piece I'm still really proud of this one! ( https://www.instagram.com/p/Bg7zILRFY9D/ ) I can say it's not my best work anymore but it was one of the drawings during a phase I had where I tried to draw characters in a different way than I usually do (standing still) and experiment in poses and this was my favorite out of all of them! It's was also my first time playing with clothing textures and I was/am really proud of how soft their sweaters looked!
Do you listen to music (or tv shows/films/anything else) when drawing? Yes!! Sometimes I just listen to my favorite youtubers, like a podcast of sorts but not really? (said youtubers are Jazza, Drawingwiffwaffles, Moriah Elizabeth, nerdEcrafter, AmandaRachLee, Dan and Phil, SuperRaeDizzle, and a bunch of others) Most of the time I listen to a playlist I have of my favorite anime songs! And also MUSICALS!! The Lightning Thief, Dear Evan Hansen, Hamilton, annnd a lot more!!
Tumblr media
What makes art interesting for you? It's how fun it is to draw! I really enjoy whenever I draw and experiment with new mediums or techniques!! What do you do when art block strikes? I step away from drawing for a bit and do something else I enjoy. Whether it's baking or reading a book! Sometimes taking a break is all I need.Other times I'll try to do something different with art. Experimenting if I've stuck with a medium for a long time or drawing something else if I've drawn too much of one thing! Sometimes changing the way I do things is the way to go! What’s the most valuable art advice you’ve ever received?
Before anything else draw for yourself. Draw what you love. Draw what you want! Dunno where I got that from exactly? Probably I bunch of other people plus my own thoughts? For a short period of time I used to draw what I think others would like because I wanted to be more known, because if more people knew me it would be easier to make profit out of art because I want more art supplies pfft- But I stopped and now I just do what I want and what is fun because I think that's whats most important.

Fate loves me Pt.2

Word count: 1,616
PART 1
The rest of your day passes smoothly, with nobody even sparing you a look, and suddenly you’re on your way home, to rest off your stress and agitation. Yoongi will occasionally look at you, sometimes even with a soft look on his face. You’ve realized he’s always quiet, even when he’s around the boys.
Speaking of the boys, they’re coming over tonight to hang out with Namjoon. You decide to stay in your room, even though Jungkook will probably try to get you to come out, as you seem to be someone he enjoys talking to, since you share a love for video games, namely, overwatch. As you walk around your room softly, you think about what Yoongi said to you earlier.
“Why are you so quiet?” He looked at you, and grinned slightly.
“I don’t know. Is there something you want to talk about? Your next class is really far.” You shrug.
“How did you meet Namjoon? You seem to be really close to him.” You turn right with him flanking your left, shooting yet another angry look to a passerby.
“We met in a cafe close to your house, actually. He knocked my papers out of my hands, and then he managed to do it twice, so I figured we needed to know each other. Fate loves me. And maybe, fate loves you too, we’ll just have to see.”
Just like that, he was gone, and he didn’t bring it up again later, when he walked you to Namjoon’s car. You couldn’t help but try to dissect his statement. Fate loves me. And maybe, fate loves you too, we’ll just have to see. Huffing in confusion, you flop onto your bed and cuddle your squishiest pillow. Boys are so odd, why are they so peculiar?
Within moments, the doorbell rings, and Namjoon answers. You hear the six distinct voices reverberating throughout your house.
“Hey! Where’s Y/n?” Jungkook inquires, most likely with a childish pout adorning his lips.
“She’s resting, it’s best to let her be. I have something I need to talk to you all about, anyway, so it’s for the best that she isn’t here.” Silence is met to your ears at his statement. What? What could they need to talk about, that you shouldn’t hear? You decide stupidly to stay awake for their visit, to try and hear whatever they have to talk about. You try to rest your ear on the door, but you can’t hear anything, so you open your door as quietly as possible. Down the hall, in Namjoon’s room, you can hear them talking.
“What’s with you, Yoongi? You never seem so interested in humans.” Seokjin is speaking to him, softly enough that you can barely hear. Humans? Are they NOT human? A sigh grabs your attention.
“She’s different. I don’t know, I’ve always been drawn to her like-” Yoongi begins with a deep breath.
“That’s still my sister, Yoongi, word choice is key.” Ah, Namjoon, always being your personal spokesperson, even at times when you didn’t really ask for him to be.
“I heard this story, the other day, Namjoon.” Hoseok speaks up over the boys.
“What about?”
“About humans. You know how we became, what we are. The reason we have to carry out our duties.” Silence. This topic must be difficult for them. What are they talking about though? “They say, that before we were reincarnated, we all had someone we were supposed to meet, someone who would have saved us from our- demises. But, since we prematurely took our lives against fate’s plan, we are doomed to meet them and watch them in agony, but never be able to make it stop, until we leave.” A stale tension rises in the air as they sit there in the news.
“So, I might have been fated to meet her in my original life?” Yoongi breathes out again.
“I think so, Yoongi. That’s why you’re so attracted to her. She was supposed to save you, but you never let her.”
“So that’s why, That’s why I can’t help but laugh at all her jokes, why she’s so addicting to be around?”
“That’s right. I did some research, and it checks out. I would recommend you try to distance yourself from her, even though it will hurt you. She will constantly get bullied until she becomes like you if you stay around, and this life isn’t good for Y/n. We all know that.” You get up, and walk away from the door silently. What you just heard, you don’t understand. You shake your shoulders and head to the kitchen to grab yourself your favorite snack, cookies. You love to bake, and cook, because Joon very much cannot. Namjoon cooking always ends with the kitchen looking like a bomb went off, paired with explicatives, and once, he even set fire to the food. You pitied that side of Namjoon, the only thing besides piano you were better than him at.
Namjoon’s door opens, and boys flood down the hallway, passing the kitchen. All except Jungkook, who waltzes into the kitchen behind you.
“Hey kookie, look!” You hand him one of your snacks.
“Very original.”
“A cookie, for kookie!” He looks away, unamused, and shoves the cookie into his mouth.
“I don’t think that’s very funny, Y/n.” His blush and spaced out look bring you to a giggle.
“Oh, come on! You have to admit, it was pretty good, right?” He smirks, buut tries to act cool still.
“Not funny.” His small smirk is a full on grin as he turns away and walks toward the door.
“I’ve gotta go, stay funny, Y/n!” You nod and smile to him as he takes a last look at you before walking back out to join the boys. Nibbling on your cookies, you scroll through your phone. In your messages is an image, received when you were talking to Jungkook. It’s of you, taken as you are now, a cookie in your mouth. You gasp and drop everything in your hands, rushing to the living room with your phone.
“Y/n? What’s wrong?”
“Someone’s stalking us.”
“You cannot be serious.” Namjoon casually strides to you, taking your phone from your shaking hands, and looks at it.
“Where was it even taken?” Namjoon pales.
“The window. Someone was watching through the kitchen window. Drop all the blinds. Now. Boys, we’ll go look around the house, make sure we’re safe. Y/n, do not come out of this house, yeah?” You nod and scramble to close any peek of the outside your house has. All blinds shut, you sit anxiously awaiting the boys to return. After ten agonizing minutes, Yoongi enters the house and takes a seat far from you.
“The boys are finishing up looking, but in the meantime, there’s something I would like to tell you something.” You nod and look to him expectantly, twiddling your thumbs. “I am not, human. I’m not a monster, before you jump to conclusions. I, and the boys as well, am a grim reaper, a creature commonly thought of as one person. There are many of us. We help guide souls to their final judgements in a lifetime. Then, the souls either get sent back to earth, or they go to heaven, and if they don’t, they go to eternal damnation. This is the human equivalent of hell. I know it’s a lot to take in, and I will answer all of your questions.” He shifts uncomfortably in his seat, and you can see him shaking slightly, like he’s nervous about your reaction to the new information.
“How did you become this way?”
“As you may believe, fate controls everything around us. Fate, however, is not concrete. One could potentially make a rash decision and throw fate off. Those who manage to really throw her off, meet her wrath. When someone commits suicide far before they have completed their life’s purpose, they are sent to a different form of damnation, where they live a life of reaping souls. That is how I was created to this form.” You take a shaky breath, and nod.
“All of you? All 7? Even Joon?” He smiles sadly.
“Yes. We all work together to send souls to where they belong.”
“And where will I go?”
“I could only imagine you going to heaven, or being reincarnated. You aren’t even close to being evil.”
At this point, the boys start filing through the doorway with solemn looks on their faces.
“Yoongi, this is no longer safe.” Jungkook looks to you with upset eyes.
“What?” You look to them all for answers.
“Y/n. If I hadn’t have killed myself, your soul was supposed to save mine. In our past lives. I never got to meet you, and you never got to fulfill your purpose because of my selfishness, so you were reincarnated. The other side to the curse on me is that if I found you, you would constantly suffer until your death. The only way for you to be happy is for me to leave.” Your hands grip your knees and tears blur your vision. You can’t really explain why, but you can feel your soul screaming in agony, you can feel your head bursting with pain, your heart shattering.
“No, no, no, what’s happening, help me!” You cry out in broken sobs and you grasp for anything to comfort you, meeting Namjoon’s soft arms, as your vision blurs to blackness.
“It’s okay, Y/n, it’ll all be okay.” Jungkook whispers into your hair.
“Don’t let him go, please.” I reach for the fading image of your brother.
“Okay, okay, rest please.”
And then you’re gone.

Katara and Loss
So, we’ve been talking abut loss, and what it means to our three central characters: Aang, Katara, and Zuko. We’ve already talked about Aang and Zuko, and saw how they were affected by their loss, and how that loss shaped many of their decisions and brought these three characters together. This leaves us with one final character to talk about: Katara.
I mentioned a bunch of times that Aang and Zuko’s loss ties into the many different themes that those characters share like identity, and destiny. With Katara, it’s no different. However, where Aang and Zuko’s loss ties into their identity and destiny arcs, Katara’s loss arc ties into the theme of protection, which we see play out time and time again.
Even though I don’t have all the relevant gifs up, it’s still evident that Katara was strongly affected by her mother’s death, and that her pain turned itself into a need to protect and help those around her.
However, to properly analyze this theme, were going to have to do one of my favorite things: look at all the relevant episodes to see what we find.
So, without further delay, let’s begin!
The Boy in the Iceberg
The first mention we get of Kya’s death is in “The Boy in the Iceberg,” where we see Katara yelling to Sokka about how she’s had to take up a lot of chores and errands in and round the camp since her mother’s demise.
There’s not much to say here but, it still lays the foundation of what will become a running theme throughout the show.
The Avatar Returns Related: The Crossroads of Destiny, The Southern Raiders
This brings us to “The Avatar Returns.”
This episode is really fun because it sets up a number of continuing parallels that follow Katara’s story.
First, it shows us two really nice parallels between Aang and Kya, showing us how they’re willing to sacrifice themselves to spare those around them. Thus, from this point onwards, we see a bit of a connection between Aang and Kya.
With our foresight, it also becomes clear that, at this point in the story, Katara associates Zuko with Yon Rha. After all, both of those characters took away someone they cared about, someone who was willing to put put themselves before others.
The Southern Air Temple Related: Zuko Alone, The Southern Raiders
This brings up to “The Southern Air Temple.”
Here, we see Aang and Katara connecting through their loss even more, complete with some really nice parallels.
First, Aang finally realizes that he’s the last of his people. This parallels Katara telling him that she’s the last waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe.
Also, Aang discovering Monk Gyatso’s skeleton parallels Katara finding her mom and her fear about what will happen. And, since I’ve already mentioned “The Southern Raiders,” Katara and Zuko seeing their mom for the last time parallel each other. Plus, we have the parallel of Kya and Ursa wanting to protect their children.
Thus, we’ll eventually see that Zuko is tied into the mix as well, and by the end of the series we’ll see how Aang and Zuko play an integral part of this arc.
Imprisoned Related: The Chase, The Painted Lady
I’m going to pair “Imprisoned” and “The Painted Lady” up together since the premise is similar in that both episodes show that Katara has a need to help people, and that she will do everything in her power to help the. Thus, we get this parallel of Katara talking about how she’ll never give up on the people who need her.
With that said, all three episodes again hon in the fact that Katara loves helping and protecting people, and the latter two episodes show how she’s going to protect people whether they’re a friend or foe.
Jet Related: The Swamp
These two episodes don’t really tie into the theme of protection but, they do continue to show just how much of an impact Kya had on Katara. She’s sad, she misses her, and Katara would love nothing more than to see her mother again.
Lake Laogai Related: The Crossroads of Destiny, Sozin’s Comet
This brings us to “Lake Laogai,” whee we see that Katara is unable to help Jet. Not only does this play into Katara’s need to protect and help those around he, buut Jet’s death plays into her guilt about unable to help her mom.
Plus, Jet’s death and Katara trying to save him parallels Aang and Zuko almost dying and being saved by Zuko in “The Crossroads of Destiny” and “Sozin’s Comet” respectively.
The Crossroads of Destiny
This brings us to our big Book 2 finale “The Crossroads of Destiny,” where a few things happen.
First, Katara offers to heal Zuko’s scar. I’ve probably said this ad nauseam by now but, this ties into Katara wanting to help and protect everyone around her.
However, things don’t go as planned, Zuko sides with Azula, and Aang gets shot by lightning. This, like Jet’s death ties into Katara’s guilt about being unable help her mom which ties into her need to--again, sorry for the repeated repetitions of this phrase which I too am getting sick of at least in the context of this post--protect those around her.
Luckily though, Aang manages to live thanks to Katara’s spirit water.
Still, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t feel guilty about failing to protect Aang, and we see her anger and her continuing need to hep and protect people play out into the third season as well.
The Western Air Temple
When “The Western Air Temple” happens, Katara is pissed when she sees Zuko’s face again. She reluctantly agrees to let Zuko into the groups, but she still deeply resents him.
The episode ends with Katara threatening to kill Zuko if he hurts Aang. This both shows how fiercely protective she is of Aang, but again ties into the theme of protection and Katara wanting to protect everyone around her least they succumb to the same fate as her mother.
The Southern Raiders
This brings us to “The Southern Raiders” where we see Katara’s resentment toward Zuko escalate after she gets separated from her father. Here, Zuko puts together the fact that Katara’s anger at Zuko is connected her mother’s murder, and see events play out from there.
Here, while Katara is unable to kill Yon Rha, she is ale to move on in her own way and thus is able to forgive Zuko.
However, were not quite done yet.
Sozin’s Comet Related: The Crossroads of Destiny, The Southern Raiders
With Katara and Zuko’s friendship secured, Katara’s protection arc in the context of the show concludes with Katara successfully saving and protecting a person who tried to protect her.
This brings us two parallels. First, Katara saving Zuko parallels Katara saving Aang almost frame for frame. Second, this also parallels the flashback we get in “The Southern Raiders,” so that ties into the grand scheme of things as well.
And so, by the end of the series, even though Katara may not have moved on completely or forgiven Yon Rha, we see her making the steps she has to take to move forward, and we see this clearly though her protection arc as she tries to help and protect the ones around her.
