A part 2 to the Charlie walker 10 things?? Maybe they go on a date or something?
Tumblr media
well it’s definitely something
part 1
# :: 𝒕𝒘𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 🫧 - 𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒎𝒂 𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒃 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒊𝒆
after yesterdays flirtatious conversation charlie had with you he couldn’t get you off of his mind
he kept replaying the whole thing in his head over and over
“you don’t have to lie to me to talk to me” you laughed
“who said i was lying”
you just laughed and smiled “i’m y/n”
“i know”
you’d awkwardly gotten up and left after and he could just hit himself as it was the perfect opportunity to ask you out
he spent days thinking about ways to talk to you again all while you sat quietly in the back of the club
recently you’d been missing some of the clubs sessions and charlie had started to get concerned
after class had ended one night he went to seek you out
vaguely knowing where your locker was he made sure to not get in anyones way
there you were
smiling and laughing with another boy
this struck something within charlie he didn’t know he had
“heyyy y/n, i was just looking for you” he decided to put his hand round your waist
risky move
the other guy, much taller than charlie looked rather confused as it’d seemed she been flirting with him back
“hey charlie, you’re late” you gave him a look
the other guy ended up skulking off after a few of charlie’s diabolical looks
he quickly took his arm back and turned to you
she just thanked him and said the guy had been bothering her for a while now and doesn’t like coming down this corridor anymore because he know this is her locker
something about him wanting to take her out on the town next week
so that’s why she wasn’t coming to cinema club recently
it was his fault
he’d pay for that later
“how about i take you out instead”
charlie blushed a lot more recently
“only if you want to of course”
y/n seems to blush a lot round him
tucking her oh so soft hair behind her ear she agreed
charlie would be picking her up on friday night from her house for a date
just one more day to get through until then
he definitely went home that night and had a victory wank
it’s not like he hasn’t done it before over her but this time there was progress
he’d completely forgotten he used to stutter over kirby just six months ago when she teased him and now he’s not bothered at all
robbie definitely noticed
kirby seemed to notice too
she started making conversation with him more
trying to get him to talk about movies with her and jill often
he was definitely nervous if he should get you flowers or not
friday rolled around way too quickly for charlies nerves to settle
especially after he’s had such a busy thursday
he already knew your address so it was only a matter of time
a button up shirt, nice jeans and converse and charlie felt sick
he’d never felt this way before
always racking his hair back
red roses were presented upon opening your front door
“just like the movies”
he’d pick a fancy restaurant as he had no idea what you liked
getting there just in time, the reservation didn’t go through
you guys ended up driving to the local shop and buying strawberries, chocolate and some random junk food
you both sat eating them in the boot of his car
he ended up melting the chocolate with his lighter and you both had chocolate covered strawberries
as you smudged a bit on his cheek and he retaliated by throwing half a strawberry at you
which got onto your clothes a little
“i’m sorry, okay! how was i supposed to know you’re weak to strawberries”
you scoffed and got the tissues out the front door pocket
you heard a shuffle and a bump from charlie in the back causing you to look up
he was shoving something back into the boot underlining
you thought he definitely skateboards
abandoning the tissues and taking it out of his backseat you rushed up to the boot of the car
he just looked surprised
he didn’t skateboard
he stood there teaching you and helping you not fall off around the parking lot
by the time you could somewhat push by yourself charlie would retreat to the car
he was still nervous
he called it a night rather suddenly as you guys left the parking lot
the red had started to drip out the underside of his car
at least the guy won’t be bothering you anymore
please support me by reblogging / commenting / liking my posts! it means so much to me!
I love anyone’s requests so much and it gives me even more ideas and inspiration to come up with more.

This was just a random thought I had while I’m still trying to figure out how to finish my Valentine’s Day Ficlet
—————
After finding Eddie nearly dead and limp in Dustin’s arms, Steve managed to carry him out and through the gate. Nancy found his keys in the trailer and the five of them climbed into Eddie’s van, with Steve supporting him in the back. When they came to a squealing stop in the hospital parking lot, they all burst out and Steve ran inside with Eddie’s body in his arms still. He was quickly taken away and they were stuck in the waiting room.
The four of them were sitting in chairs, Robin leaned against Steve’s shoulder and she could feel him getting more and more relaxed, which seemed like a good thing before he spoke up.
“Robbie, I think-I think I’m gonna….p’ss out….” Before she could even respond he was going fully limp and half sliding out of his chair. They screamed for help and then it was just Robin, Nancy, and Dustin in the waiting room.
~~
Steve woke up to soft voices that he didn’t recognize, pain radiating from his sides and a too light blanket covering his legs. He forced his eyes open and saw three people he vaguely recognized sitting in chairs around another bed and made eye contact with the black guy sitting at the foot of the bed. The guy startled and turned back to the other guys.
“Oh shit, Harrington’s awake. Should I, like, go get someone or-“
“Eddie…?” Steve croaked out, his voice raw and he saw all three of them suddenly turned to face him with varying degrees of anger on their faces.
“Why the fuck do you want to know about Eddie? You’re probably the reason he’s here in the first place—!” The shorter one with big hair had stood and was stepping toward him when the third guy put a hand on his arm to stop him.
“Dude, pull back the third degree. He’s in a hospital bed right now. Jeff, go get a nurse or something.” The black guy nodded and stood up before leaving the room. The shorter guy gave Steve one last nasty look before he collapsed back in his chair.
If Steve’s throat wasn’t so sore he would have said something, but even swallowing felt like knives in his throat. It felt like the silence in the room stretched on for ages before the door opened back up. He got a glimpse of the black guy, Jeff he heard one of the guys say, and a nurse before long limbs and blonde hair were in his face and Steve gave a weak smile.
“Rob…” He tried to lift his hand up to touch her, needing to know she’s real but he found he was too weak to manage getting his hand up more than a couple inches. Thankfully, she saw him move and swooped in to grab his hand in both of hers.
“I am so mad at you right now, and if you weren’t in a hospital bed actively dealing with an infection, I would have already hit you. What sort of warning is ‘I’m gonna pass out’, Steve? And why did you decide it was a good idea to carry a human person while you were injured the way you were, huh?” He could see that she had been crying, and was fighting back tears at that moment as well, so he gave her a weak smile.
“No one else could lift him…is he-did he…”
“He’s fine, he’s literally in this room, Dingus, did no one-“ She cut herself off and turned to face the guys who had apparently been watching them the whole time. “Did he ask about Eddie?”
The short guy from earlier scoffed, “yeah, and I told him he had no right-“
“No right?! Who do you think brought him here, asshole?! Steve literally carried him here while also injured!” That seemed to get all three of the boys to freeze, looking between Steve and Robin. Robin just rolled her eyes and looked back at Steve, her anger immediately melting away. “Eddie’s fine. They think he’s gonna be out for another day or so just from the blood loss, but then again, they also said you weren’t going to wake up until tomorrow and-“
“Miss Buckley, if you wouldn’t mind stepping back, I really should be checking over Mr. Harrington’s injuries.” Robin’s eyes snapped over to the nurse and seemed to remember where they were, quickly stepping back.
“I am so sorry, I was just so glad he’s okay, I totally forgot he needed to be looked at.” The nurse gave her a gentle smile as she walked over to read Steve’s vitals on the screen next to the bed.
“It’s alright, you aren’t the first person to get in the way of a nurse out of relief that your loved one is okay.” She wrote down the information on Steve’s chart and turned to face him. “How are you feeling? In any pain?”
Steve managed a nod, swallowing thickly before he could speak. “My sides are really painful, and my throat hurts.”
“Well I can definitely fix that.” The nurse walked over to a tray that Steve hadn’t noticed and grabbed a syringe. The whole room listened to his heart monitor start beating faster as he watched her get closer, Robin sliding a chair up to the other side of his bed and grabbing his hand. “It’s alright, I’m just adding this to your IV bag, needle won’t go anywhere near you.” Steve felt his muscles relax but his heartbeat didn’t start to slow down until the nurse was putting the needle back on the tray. “There, some more pain killers should help with the pain in your sides. You already have plenty of antibiotics in your system but I’ll be back later to give you more of those. I’m going to go get you some ice chips to suck on, which should help with the sore throat.” Steve had already closed his eyes so he just nodded, and he heard Robin say something but he wasn’t paying enough attention to make out what she said.
The next time he woke up, there were more voices in the room, some he recognized and some he didn’t - though somewhere in the back of his mind, he knew he had heard them recently. Unfortunately for him, when he tried to open his eyes every fiber of his being resisted and all that happened was he groaned. The voices all stopped at once, and then the whispering started.
“Do you think he’s awake?”
“Maybe, I don’t know if he’s made that sound while sleeping before.”
“He definitely hasn’t, but his eyes are still shut-“
“He could just be in pain-“
“If he’s asleep, you all bickering will certainly wake him up.”
“Hey! We’re just worried, okay? And just because you guys stole Dustin-“
“We didn’t steal Dustin, he came over here on his own.”
“Because you guys kept glaring at us-“
Steve finally gathered enough strength to speak, having had enough of the fighting that had just started, “would you all please shut up?” This did not work, and Steve asked himself why he thought it ever would, as multiple voices started shouting his name in excitement. Squinting one of his eyes open he saw Erica and Robin, and surprisingly, El, Mike, and Will all staring back at him. Immediately, Steve noticed people were missing, some of his kids were missing. “Were’s the rest of you?” He saw Erica glare over at the other side of the room - Steve couldn’t see what she was looking at, but he assumed there were people.
“Dustin’s been stolen, and they are refusing to wake him up so that he can see that his god damn-“
“Erica….”
“Shut up, hair boy. They won’t wake him up to see that you’re awake, just because they’re mad that Eddie isn’t-“
“Eddie? He’s okay?” Robin grabbed his hand, sitting down on the bed next to his leg.
“We talked about this yesterday, do you remember? You woke up and asked where he was, if he was okay. I told you he was fine, just out because of the blood loss.” Steve frowned, trying to remember but it was all so blurry.
“Oh…okay. Good, that’s…. Good. So, Dustin is… with Eddie?” He looked at Robin for confirmation before he kept talking. “Okay, that’s okay. Where…..is Max-did she?”
“I won’t lie to you, Dingus. She’s hurt, pretty badly. But she’s alive, and she’s been awake for a couple hours since coming out of anesthesia for her surgery. Lucas is with her, which is why they’re missing. But they’re both okay, Max is going to need a lot of help but she’s okay.” Steve just nodded, and he was so glad Robin knew him as well as she did, because she wiped away the tears that started falling so he didn’t have to. Just then, there was the sound of coughing from the other side of the curtain and Mike was running over to the other side of the room, only disappearing for a second before skidding back to their side.
“He’s waking up!” Robin stood quickly, still holding Steve’s hand.
“Then pull back the curtain, idiot! And go get everyone else!” El decided to go get the others apparently, as she gave Steve’s leg a gentle squeeze before leaving the room. Mike quickly rolled the curtain back and Robin helped Steve sit his bed up so he could look over at the other side of the room. There was someone standing in the way though, and by his posture you could tell it was intentional. “Gareth, I swear to god, if you do not move so Steve can see if Eddie is alive I will put a whole pack of chewed gum in your hair.” Surprisingly, that got him to move, albeit with some annoyed grumbling, and suddenly Steve could see Eddie for the first time since he got them to the hospital. He was curling into himself as he coughed, bandages covering his torso and parts of his arms, and his hair had been pulled back at some point into a bun-type thing.
Tension Steve hadn’t even been aware of melted away and he leaned more fully into his pillows upon seeing Eddie breathing and alive. When he finally stopped coughing, Eddie opened his eyes and gave a weak grin to the guys by his bed, including Dustin.
“Hey, guys, how’s it been?” They all started shouting at him, but the grin never left his face as he started looking around the room. That is, until he made eye contact with Steve. Steve knew he was smiling dreamily (Robin was going to make fun of him so much later) but seeing Eddie pause and then give him a soft smile in return made everything feel warm in Steve’s chest.
They were beaten and bloodied and Vecna wasn’t even dead, but Steve had a feeling they would be okay.

Joker 2 will (probably) also be bad
I've gone on record saying Joker (2019) was a badly-conceived film, with ideas that are, at best, inconsistent and muddled.
And now they're making another one. With Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. Maybe it will be better this time?
...no, probably not. Let me break it down.
So, the entire design philosophy of Joker (2019) from writer/director Todd Phillips was, quote, "we're gonna sneak in a real movie in the guise of a comic book movie". That is, Phillips wanted to make Taxi Driver...but he's only a talented enough filmmaker to make The Hangover at best, and The Hangover Part III at worst, and so Warner Bros only trusted him with an IP that was guaranteed to succeed regardless of quality.
This sucks on two levels. If we judge Joker as a "real film"...it fails utterly, because it's using the visual language of the 1970s to whine about 21st century woes, and even then doesn't have anything to say. The "failed standup act goes viral" plot beat doesn't fit with the media landscape of the 1970s, while the clown rioters echo the "eat the rich, defund the police" sentiment that was brewing in 2019 and would explode with George Floyd's murder in 2020. These things are included because Phillips is the kind of jerk who complains about "woke culture" on Twitter. The only reason Phillips sets the film in the 1970s...is because he's cheating off Scorsese's homework.
But if we judge Joker as a comic book movie, it also sucks, because it completely fails to live up to what makes The Joker so fascinating. See, The Joker is a Batman villain; a standout antagonist against the rogues gallery. You cannot understand The Joker except as a literary foil, as a dark reflection of the Dark Knight. Batman is a solemn, incorruptible force for justice. The Joker is a manic, incorruptible force of destruction. While many of Batman's villains are sympathetic (e.g. Mr Freeze), and others are garden-variety thugs with powers (e.g. Clayface), The Joker is pure. He cannot be reasoned with or negotiated with, he has no agenda beyond causing mayhem, and he has no better nature to appeal to. That charisma, that certainty of purpose, is what makes the Joker such a fun villain. Phillips throws all of that in the garbage--Arthur Fleck is weak-willed, cowardly, and just needs a friend.
And now, in Folie a deux...he's getting one, in the form of Gaga's Harley Quinn.
Now, Harley Quinn is different from the Joker. Harley was introduced in Batman: the Animated Series, voiced by Arleen Sorkin, as a counterpart to Mark Hamill's Joker. Her origin story is that she was Dr. Harlene Quinzel, a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, who tried to fix The Joker...only to be pulled in by his madness, taking a new name, costume, and falling head-over-heels for "Mista J", her "puddin'".
This is interesting because while The Joker only really makes sense as a Batman antagonist, Harley only really makes sense in the context of the Joker. Harley's story is one of domestic abuse; she is The Joker's greatest victim, and yet his staunchest ally. She sometimes realizes this and tries to get away, but can't escape his manipulative gravity. This obsessive love, however, is not returned; The Joker's soulmate is Batman, the yin to his yang, his equal and opposite. Nowhere is this more clear than in the iconic Mad Love, where Harley almost kills Batman as a gift to her puddin', only for The Joker to furiously lash out in a "no one kills Batman but me" kind of way.
So while the Joker is fun because he's so unsympathetic, Harley is fun because she is sympathetic. The Joker is fully evil, but Harley is only evil because of her exposure to The Joker; without him in the picture, she's just a manic antihero.
And that's exactly what's happened to her character over time; fan and authorial desire to see Harley achieve independence and escape the cycle of abuse led directly to her more modern portrayals, such as Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad (2016), Birds of Prey, and The Suicide Squad (2021). But even then, she was introduced in Suicide Squad against Jared Leto's Joker, and the start of Birds of Prey is her mourning her breakup with him. Her animated series starts the same way, seeking autonomy and an independent self-identity.
Folie a deux...isn't going to be doing that. It can't. It doesn't work with Arthur Fleck. The whole point of Joker (2019) is that Arthur Fleck is a loser, he's a failed nobody, he is the dregs of society that everyone ignores. His sexual frustration and loneliness form the basis of a major (and idiotic) plot beat with Zazie Beetz. He is a million miles from the "charismaniac" of Hamill or Ledger--there is zero possibility that he could "infect" a brilliant psychiatrist.
To his credit, Phillips realizes this, and is taking a different angle. From the trailer, it looks like Gaga's Harley is going to be a fellow Arkham resident, and she's going to be the one who initiates flirtation with Arthur, in a sort of "love letter to a serial killer" kind of admiration. The trailer leans heavily on the refrain of "what the world needs now is love, sweet love", and overall seems to be framing itself as an honest-to-god romance. Instead of the Joker/Harley relationship being abuser/victim, it looks instead to be toxic enabling, where Harley encourages Arthur to embrace his worst, most destructive instincts.
And...that's probably going to be framed as a good thing. See, if Folie a deux is going to be a romance, then plot constraints demand that there needs to be an obstacle dividing the lovers and preventing their happy union. What obstacle could exist between Arthur and Harley? Why, the entire legal system, of course--we see in the teaser multiple shots of them going up courthouse steps. It's likely that the pair fall in love in Arkham, escape ("let's get out of here", Harley says), are recaptured, and then have to defend themselves in court. This might have a "happy ending" where they win and leave together, affirming that enabling a violent criminal is a good thing. Or it might have a "sad ending" where the court outcome separates them, affirming Arthur's nihilism and anger at a system he perceives as unjust only when it inconveniences him. Either way, Harley is going to be framed as good for Arthur, making him better while making him worse.
Could this be done well? Maybe. It's certainly possible. Canon is already so broken that it's no longer a limitation. A talented director might realize the moral complexity in the relationship between two violent, mentally unstable murderers. One could frame the entire thing as a tragedy, where "boy gets girl back again" is shown to be disastrous (as in The Graduate). Or, it could even be something of an inversion of the more canonical Joker/Harley romance; instead of Harley realizing that she's better off without Mista J, it might be Arthur realizing he is better off without Harley.
But it almost certainly won't be any of that. Because Phillips thinks that Arthur Fleck is relatable. He thinks he's a martyr, a victim of targeted injustice, a doomed hero refusing to bow to societal norms. But he isn't. Arthur Fleck is an entitled white boy who simultaneously sees his suffering as a systemic failing, while also refusing to see how the system harms others, and refusing to see how his own choices make things worse for everyone. Arthur Fleck is an embodiment of denied privilege, where cishet white men expect to be lavished with unearned success, and are butthurt when they don't get it.
And above all, the thing that media has always told men is that a manic pixie dream girl is going to find you and fall madly in love with you despite your obvious failings. That is the heterosexual male romantic fantasy; love without effort, acceptance without labor, companionship without obligation. Todd Phillips might play this straight. Or he might set this up for Arthur, only to deny it as an act of authorial cruelty. But the first film demonstrates that he lacks the self-awareness necessary to actually deconstruct it, to criticize the expectation itself.
So no. I don't think Folie a deux will be better than its prequel. Because for Todd Phillips to make a better movie, he'd have to be a better person. And he's not.

~ His Weakness ~
His heart was racing as Robert "Robbie" Scott ran through the dark complex of halls, using every cover he was able to find on his way. With shaking hands, he kept the phaser close to his chest and tried to breathe as calmly and quietly as possible.
He swore silently. It had been a bad idea to come to this place. The Scotsman should have known it right from the start!
But Robbie had been stupid. And that was the reason why he was fighting for his life now, eliminating one foe after the other.
Not much longer and he would be able to escape the building. He glanced at his watch. He only needed to survive five more minutes.
He let his eyes wander around. There! A good hiding spot! If he stayed hidden behind that corner, Robbie would be sure to make it out alive. He quickly, but carefully crossed the short distance.
A weak smile pulled at the corners of his mouth as he closed his eyes and allowed himself to relax. Only five more minutes until it was over. He'd just have to wait.
However, Robbie's blood froze in his veins when he suddenly heard a familar voice screaming for help. His heart skipped a beat as he recognized to whom it belonged.
Leah!
It was his girlfriend's voice! Robbie's eyes widened in shock. She was in trouble!
He hesitated for the shortest amount of time, a bad feeling spreading inside his stomach, but eventually decided that he couldn't just stand there and wait when the love of his life was obviously in danger!
Taking one deep breath, Robbie got out of his hiding place and started running into the direction the voice had come from.
What awaited him was a horrible sight to the Scotsman.
Leah. Lying motionless on the ground.
Robbie shook his head in disbelief. No... that couldn't be.
As fast as he could, he got to Leah's side and dropped to his knees next to her body.
"Leah! Lass!"
His breathing fastened and he slowly reached for his girlfriend's shoulder to touch it.
But he didn't get that far.
A loud noise and the green light on his vest turning red settled Robbie's end and he couldn't help but frown when Leah's shoulders suddenly started to shake and she turned around, laughing maliciously.
"Gotcha!"
Robbie looked over his shoulder to see his son's head emerge from behind an obstacle. He was grinning widely.
He... he had shot at him! Chris had actually taken him out of the game!
But...
Robbie's head whirled back to Leah and he saw that the light on her vest was blue instead of green.
"Wha-... when did ye switch sides?!"
Leah slowly sat up, brushing a strain of hair out of Robbie's face. She gave him a pitying look.
"When Chris offered me the chance to do so," she returned with a shrug of her shoulders.
Robbie couldn't believe it! His girlfriend and son had actually lured him into a trap! Just to win!
"Ye tricked me."
"We sure did, sweetie, we sure did," Leah chuckled before she pulled Robbie closer to her to whisper into his ear. "But thank you for coming to my rescue, my handsome knight."
Robbie just sighed. They just knew about his weakness too well.
But one thing was for sure. He'd never play laser tag with Leah and Chris ever again.

You ever write the end of a fic first and then have know idea how to start it? Just me? Ah well
Short Pibbin drabble. Robin tags along with Pickles as he visits his family after he shots down her offer to "take care of them".
“I shoveled every driveway in fucking tomahawk to earn the money for that kit.” He sighs, his head falling slightly. “Wouldn't even let me keep it in the garage.”
“That's fucked.” Robin says, her tone a bit stilted. Emotions are weird. Especially others. Her body shifts towards Pickles and hesitates before placing a hand on his thigh. Green eyes move from the pavement as her bloodied knuckles catch his attention.
“You punch my brother?” He asks with a weak chuckle that turns into a full blown laugh as her eyes widen. “Robbi!”
“He made a pass at me!” She exclaims, gesturing wildly.
“He did what?” Pickles attempts to stand, a burning anger replacing his self pity. Robin shoves him down by the shoulder bringing his ass back to the concrete.
“I handled it.” She turns her hand to show off the bruises. “Why do you think he ran off to the bathroom after pitching me his business proposal?” His expression softened at her use of air quotations. She wiped her hand off on her jeans. He should have known the blood wasn't hers. “Piece of fucking work.”
“Ain't he?” The two of them sit there on the curb in silence both their eyes shifting to the sky. Pickles leans back onto his hands and steals a glance at the blonde. It's like one of those artistic shots from some chick flick. The street lights create a halo effect around her, a soft smile on her lips and she relaxes with a sigh. “Thanks for coming.” He finally says, returning his eyes to his sky.
“Well you shot down my first idea.” She chuckled. “Least I could do.” He glanced back at the house, knowing it wouldn't be long til his mother came out to scold him for some bullshit reason. He's about to get up when he feels a sudden warmth cover his hand. His eyes bounce from his hand now covered by the manager's to her face. “Offer still stands by the way.” She jokes as she gives him a reassuring squeeze before leaning in towards him. “I can make it look like an accident and everything.”
He's overcome with laughter that only grows as Robin's own joins. His face feels warm despite the cool air and all of his frustration and sadness he had felt when he first stormed out had faded. Their laughter softens as he opens his eyes. Robin's face is close to his own, her cheeks a soft pink and her amused smile genuine. He knows it's a bad idea and he could royally fuck up a good moment but he can't help it.
Robin gives a soft noise of surprise as he presses his lips to her. He just barely breaks away before she caresses his jaw in her hand and pulls him back in.
It's a brief kiss but it manages to still leave him feeling fucking amazing.
“Wanna bail?” She asks against his lips before fully pulling away. He realizes she's still squeezing his hand. “I can have a car here in less than five minutes…but I get if you want to say goodbye-” he steals another quick kiss before getting to his feet, pulling her up with him.
“Let’s get the fuck out of here.”

Part 8 of On The Inside With Elizabeth Olsen
Word Count: ~3.2K
masterlist
TW: Abusive Relationship
Liz POV
"I never knew the Olsen twins had a sister."
Her words stun me making my body shut down. I comb over her face, and the look in her eyes hit me like a truck, and I slowly realize why she is here. She's hurt, found out the truth, and what's to know why. Y/N is looking right back at me. She says something to me, but it's muffled.
A "What?" Escapes my lips.
"I'd like to come in, Elizabeth," Y/N says, annoyed. Wait, Elizabeth? No, no, Y/N to you, I'm Liz. Your Liz! My mind is shouting for my mouth to move and say these things, but instead, I shuffle my body out of her way, allowing her to enter. I close and lock the door, my eyes never leaving her. I watch as she looks around, noticing new things she didn't see before. I watch as her head tilts. She spots Robbie's coat. She then turns her head to my closed bedroom door. Fuck. She knows.
She doesn't say anything but quickly moves her head and body around the apartment. I position myself in the area between the kitchen and living room. With her back turned to me, I go to speak, but she unknowingly cuts me off.
"I made it home safe, by the way. Mr. Bronson is great." The Y/N speaking isn't the same one as before. It's like every sentence is being spat at me. "Yeah, I'v-"
"Max was still there, so we decided to watch the first Captain America movie. Pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised." Y/N finally turns her head towards me. I'm caught off-guard, so I give a weak smile. Y/N doesn't react, instead turning her head away from me once more.
"We were going to move on to the next movie of the night, but Max wanted to know all about how last night and earlier today was with Liz," Her voice goes stern on my name. "I told her everything. And being like the good friend she is, she wanted to know more about you, like stalk your Instagram and stuff. So she asked for your name, and I told her your name. Elizabeth Chase." She adds in a few more 's' to draw it out.
Y/N finally turns all the way around to face me. "That's the name I told her because that's the name I was given." I know she doesn't know who Wanda Maximoff is, but she's embodying her right now. Or I guess me? Y/N stares at me as if she's waiting for me to speak, but I can't. I open my mouth, but nothing comes out.
Y/N sees me struggle. "Since you're not on Instagram anymore, your lovely fans have taken it upon themselves to provide fan accounts which Max found. And then it all clicked for Max, and she said, "That's why she looked and sounded so familiar at the coffee shop!"
"Well, could you believe I had no idea what Max was talking about, so she showed me the article about us leaving the restaurant. I'm sure you know the one I'm talking about. The one that was causing your phone to blow up, if I had to guess."
"Y/N." I finally managed to toss it out. She's ignoring me, so I try again. "Y/N-"
"The one your "co-worker" Robbie kept messaging you about." She picks up his coat by the collar balling it in her hand. "Y/N, please." I look over Robbie's coat in her hand. My eyes scan up the sleeves. That's when I see red near the hem of the armpit—dried blood.
"Y/N, stop!" I yell, scaring myself. Y/N, taken aback, throws the coat on the couch before stepping further away from me. We catch a glimpse of each other, tears. Hurt. Y/N raises her finger at me. "You don't get to do that." She sounds like she is choking on her tears. "You don't get to yell at me like that."
She's right. Even though I didn't mean to. I have zero right to be acting this way to her. I take a step forward. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." Y/N swallows and looks at me, thinking. "What else didn't you mean to do... Huh? Me?"
I shake my head at Y/N. "You know that's not true, Y/N." Y/N bites back. "Do I? Do I Elizabeth?" Okay, I deserve that. I take a couple more steps toward her. Surprisingly, she doesn't take another step back. "Y/N." I gently reach out to her. She reaches her hands out, gabbing my hands, stopping my movement. She rubs the back of my knuckles, making my stomach do flips. Y/N's soft hands let go leaving me disappointed.
"Were you planning on telling me who you actually are or?" I slowly nod my head. "I was." I think back to me putting on Martha Marcy May Marlene earlier this evening. Y/N looks into my eyes before shifting them around the room. "What is it, Y/N?" I want her to ask all the questions she has, no matter how much it'll kill me inside.
"How long?" Her question confuses me. "How long what Y/N?"
"How long have you been cheating on Robbie?" I feel the sweat of guilt wash over me. That's a sentence that I never thought would be spoken about me. About me! I can feel my heartbeat quicken. Y/N carefully watches how I react. "I nev- I never- umm."
Her eyes go wide as she mutters, "Oh, no." A wave of disappointment comes crashing onto her. I watch her face get paler. "It was me. You cheated on him wi-." Y/N takes a step back, covering her mouth. "With me... Oh my God."
The room goes quiet after the realization between us.
"No, no, shit.." Y/N breaths in preparing herself. After another beat of silence, Y/N finally looks to me. "Wh- What am I to you?" I watch her face begin to break. "Because after this morning, I sure as hell thought I was just more than someone you could fuck behind your fiancé's back!" She removes herself from in front of me. "That's not fair, Y/N." I turn to her.
"Fair! You wanna talk fair Olsen? Fair is being yourself. Fair is being honest. Fair is- fair-" Y/N starts crying and doesn't stop. Y/N drops down to the floor, pushing her knees into her chest just like the day I saw her at the park. I want nothing more than to run to her as she did for me. However, I know that will only end poorly.
I quietly make my way to her, knowing she'll feel my footsteps. Watching her break and hearing her muffled cries hurt. Looking over Y/N, I see red marks along her knees. I swallow down and crouch in front of her. "Y/N?" I scoot myself closer. "Y/N, is it okay if I put my arm around you?" Y/N shakes her head no, and on the inside, it destroys me. But I respect her. So instead, I sit near her patting the floor to let her know where I am.
After a couple of minutes that feel like an hour, Y/N lifts her head, wiping her tears away. She faces me. Her eyes captivate me. God, I want nothing more than to hold her face. I want to kiss her forehead and tell her to trust me. I want to squeeze her and tell her all the most beautiful things.
Y/N POV
Looking Liz in the eyes is something that comes so easy, but I have to stop doing it. Whenever I look into those magical eyes, I want nothing more than to be held by her. I want to see her smile and feel her lips on my face. I want to trust her.
I move my head down, opening my mouth to speak before stopping. I hear Liz breathing. I know she wants to help. So I try again. "W-Why?"
I hear Liz's lips part and gently whisper, "Why, what?"
Fuck, I know what I have to say, but I know when I do, I'm going to be transported back to a place I don't want to go. I tightly shut my eyes, hoping I'm still here when I open them. "Why, what, YN?" Liz asks again. I think she knows, but she wants me to say it. "Why did you cheat?"
I shoot my eyes open to Liz, except that's not who is sitting next to me anymore it's Naomi. And I'm not at Liz's anymore. I'm in Naomi's apartment, my old place.
"We're not seriously having this conversation again, are we?" Naomi gets up from the couch, frustrated. It's the third time I've tried asking her about it this week, but it seems like there is a different excuse every time. Plus, she doesn't care anymore anyways.
I found out almost a month ago, and after the first few days, she did nothing but apologize and tried to tell me that she was not that kind of person. But then she didn't stop seeing the other person. She kept staying out later and later and lying to me. I kept giving her my trust, but at a certain point, she just turned into a different person. Or maybe she was pretending to be someone else all along?
"We're having the conversation because you're not you, Naomi. It's like the person I knew for the last three years doesn't exist anymore."
"What do you want me to say? Do you want me to apologize again? Well, here I'm sorry, Y/N. Better?"
Naomi starts walking into our bedroom. Well, what it used to be. Now it's her room after kicking me into the guest bedroom. I get up to stop her. "Naomi, come on!" I reach my hand out to her knowing it might be a wrong move.
It was. The second my hand reaches her wrist, she turns around, grabbing my arm and shoving me into the wall. The impact of the wall left my side bruised for weeks. The surprise hit allows Naomi time to put her foot on mine, causing me to fall backward. She positions herself above my fragile body. "Don't touch me again!" Her words are like daggers.
"Naomi, please," I whimper out. The look on Naomi is nothing but hatred. I don't know if it's for herself or me. "Just tell me..."
"You just don't get it, Y/N. I'm tired. I got tired of coming home every single day and pretending to love you."
"That's it? Yo-You weren't sacred of our future or- or anything else? You just got tired!?"
"No matter what I say, you don't believe me. Just fucking accept it." Naomi turns away from me and walks into her room, locking the door. I laid on that floor a lot over the last month. Each time it was for something new. It was either Naomi throwing her favorite mug at me. Or being shoved into a wall, But most of the time, it was me being sorry for myself, crying late into the night.
I'm back in the blink of an eye, asking Liz the question. "Why did you cheat?" Liz puckers her mouth in thought. "Are you going to believe me?" Liz softly asks. It's like my brain forgot how to say yes. I want to! But Naomi is inside of my mind. I opened my mouth, not knowing what would come out, but before I could say anything, the bedroom door opens.
Liz POV
"Are you going to believe me?" I want to hear Y/N say yes so fucking bad, but I know this isn't easy. I betrayed her trust. But I didn't mean to, right? I was going to tell her who I am eventually. I watch Y/N open her mouth, but the bedroom door opens before she can get anything out.
I turn to see Robbie come out of the bedroom, and thank goodness he's wearing a shirt, a long-sleeve at that. The second Robbie spots Y/N and I on the floor, he becomes very concerned. "Lizzie, are you alri- Oh, I'm sorry. Is everything okay!?" I mouth Y/N's name at Robbie, but he doesn't see it.
Y/N POV
I knew he was fucking here! I watch the man in front of me walk towards Liz, and he's speaking to us, but I can't hear a thing. I slowly move my head towards Liz. "Shit, I shouldn't be here!" I get up to leave. "Y/N?" Robbie says to himself. "Y/N, wait!" Liz says, reaching out to me. Her hand brushes against mine but misses grabbing me. Oh God, the slightest touch sends lightning through my body.
"No!" I shout, getting closer and closer to the door. I hear Liz get up and come towards me. Thankfully I reach the door before she gets to me. I go to open it, but Liz doesn't stop me. Robbie does. "Y/N, please, wait." I turn myself towards his voice. I look to Liz right behind me, tears in her eyes. Standing where we left him, Robbie.
"Do you mind me asking what you're doing here?" I get angry not at the question but the tone. Robbie asked it in like he's trying to help me. Why the fuck would he want to do that? "I came over the second I discovered who Elizabeth is." Robbie looks at me and then at Liz, confused.
"Who Elizabeth is?" I nod at his question. "She told me her name was Elizabeth Chase, that she was a model, and even though she never said it, I assumed she was single. Stupidly." Liz takes her eyes away from me for the first time since Robbie spoke up. She knows how I'm feeling right now, and the guilt of it all is eating away at her. I can tell by how she can't stop fiddling with her hands. A part of me wants to reach out and comfort her, but I won't.
Robbie's face gets a bit disappointed. But he puts on a brave face. "Lizzie told me about you. Well, not everything, and only after I surprised her here because I saw all the pictures and everything else." Liz turns herself to Robbie. "Robbie." Liz says in a 'stop this' kind of way. I look to Liz's back and then to Robbie.
A weird feeling begins to grow in my stomach, and I don't like where this conversation is headed. "Robbie, have you ever laid your hands on Elizabeth?" Liz and Robbie look at me, shocked. "Y/N!" Liz looks at me with her mouth dropped. That gives me my answer, but I need to hear it. I glare at Robbie. "No. God no, I would never do such a thing." I nod. That's good. That's great!
"Y/N-" "Robbie, why are you here?" I ask, stopping Liz. Robbie takes a second to gather his words. "Well, I waited in London after Liz left me. But a couple of days later, I saw the articles, and I needed to know what was happening between us and with you." Robbie sighs as Liz keeps darting her green orbs between the two of us. Y/N listen-"
"Do you still love her?"
Liz POV
Robbie seems shocked by the question but still answers. "I do." Robbie looks at me. "I do." I feel a small smile forming on my face, but I quickly dismiss it, knowing Y/N is watching us. I know he loves me, and I love him. After our conversation earlier, Robbie and I came to an understanding. We will always be friends and have this connection, but the real love is gone.
"Liz?" I quickly shoot my head towards my Coffee Girl. She called me Liz again! "Yes?" "Do you still love Robbie?" Y/N eyes, like all night, are filling up with water again. I can't lie to her right now. "Y/N, I-"
"Yes or no, Liz."
I take a breath and make sure she is looking at me. I soften my eyes and try to express to her my true meaning behind this.
"Yes."
At that moment, you could hear a pin drop in San Francisco. Y/N swallows and looks at both of us before shifting herself towards Robbie. "Robbie, I truly didn't know Liz was with someone when I met her. I'm sorry for any pain I may have helped cause. You deserve better and more." Y/N points her eyes for a split second when she says, 'better.' While she is in no way wrong, it stings. "You seem like a good person, and I wish you the best."
I watch Robbie process what Y/N has said. "Thank you, Y/N." She nods, turning her attention to me.
"Liz." She stops, trying to find the right words to say. "I want to say that I don't regret the words I've said and the feelings I felt, but that would be a lie because I said them to someone else. I said them to Elizabeth Chase, not Olsen. To the person that is standing in front of me. You are breathtaking, your eyes capture me, and you could be more than what you are right now. There are things I feel like I should say, but I won't. I need you to figure out what you want and need first."
Y/N takes a deep breath in. I can hear the tears in her throat. "Until that moment, I don't want to hear from you."
I find myself terrified at what she is saying. "Y/N no-"
"No text, calls, emails, sexting, nothing. If you decide to stay together, that's great, but don't contact me. I will not be that person that splits people up. I will not contribute to someone else's mistakes and guilt. Liz, you're not her, but I will not be here for someone who reminds me of her. I'm sorry to both of you."
Y/N gives me one last smile. Her first one of the night. "Liz I-." She shakes her head and opens the door. Before she can step out, I run up to her and hug her from behind. I feel the back of her head on my face. I can feel her hair getting wet from the tear streaming down my face. "Y/N, please don't do this. I'm sorry. I'm sorry! Please don't."
Y/N doesn't respond, but I hear her cries. She grips my hands and peels them off of her waist. "Y/N, please," I beg as she breaks free, walking away from me. I go to run after her, but Robbie comes and grabs me. "Lizzie, stop! Lizzie, you can't." He wraps his arm around my waist. "Y/N!" I shout just as she steps onto the elevator, her eyes looking up to mine.
And then she's gone.

my first impression of the barbie movie was already all of the unavoidable spoilers online. however, even after seeing basically the entire plot of the movie, i still really wanted to see it. it had left a good impression on a lot of women, regardless of age.
the second thing i saw was the reaction that a lot of right-wing men had to it. they called it “anti-men” and said that greta gerwig “forgot her core audience in favor of pandering to the left” (thats a direct quote from a far-right review haha).
the day after it came out, there was already SO MUCH DRAMA surrounding it. half of me wanted to see it because i adore margot robbie, i thought the concept was interesting a funny, and i liked a lot of the actors they had cast. the other half of me wanted to see it because i’m fueled by drama and spite.
my actual reaction to it is this: it perfectly represents growing up as a woman. the moment she steps into the “real world” it feels like growing up and hitting puberty as a woman. all of a sudden, she has to be careful, because men are suddenly threatening. and greta gerwig doesn’t shy away from this AT ALL. she placed the horrors of growing up female on a silver platter, with a beautifully written monologue delivered by America Ferrera to accompany it.
the other half of the plot is what the kens are getting up to, recreating patriarchy in barbieland. barbie and ken are both shown a male dominated world - it’s barbie’s nightmare and kens dream. but at the end of it, neither one of their systems worked. the matriarchy, run solely by barbies, left the kens feeling empty and purposeless. the patriarchy oppressed and brainwashed the barbies. the point that gerwig is trying to convey is that no system of government will ever truly be fair unless both genders are represented equally.
i can see why people call it “anti-men”, but i believe it is anti-toxic-masculinity. a lot of people associate toxic masculinity with the core of being a man, so this movie can come across as being anti-man. but that really isn’t the message that gerwig has written. toxic masculinity is harmful to both men and women - it oppresses and shames women for everything from body hair to weight to cellulite, and it traumatizes men with the idea that any emotion makes them weak and worthless.
greta gerwig’s barbie is everything that the doll should have represented. it should have represented women in equal positions of power to men. it should have represented respect, equity, and dignity being shown to women, regardless of age or race. greta gerwig rebranded barbie as ruth handler intended it.
my final review: 9.8/10
the ost was also amazing

The killers in Scream 4 should have been Jill and Robbie.
Charlie's motive was weak. One of the main themes of the film was fame and Robbie would have been a better reflection of that. He has his obsessively consistent livestream, he throws massive parties - the boy clearly wants to be known and liked. Jill could have used that to make killing sound like a good idea if they still wanted her to be the driving force of the spree. Erik Knudsen has a lot of talent and Robbie is an enjoyable character considering the scraps of screentime he's given. He could have made a really fun Ghostface.
The killers in Scream 5 should have been Richie and Vince.
It was honestly a travesty that Stu's legacy (not to mention the acting talent of scream king Kyle Gallner) was shunted aside in the first 20 minutes. I find it believable that Richie would seek out Stu's descendent and try to shoehorn himself in as the second coming of Billy Loomis by dating Vince. Their involvement would also eliminate the creepy age differences going on in that film on top of allowing Amber to be a genuine, caring, protective girlfriend to Tara without it feeling so damn insidious. Not to mention, it would open up the possibility of a fight between Sam and Vince - two descendents of serial killers who took their lives in very different directions after finding out. Could have been interesting to explore or at least acknowledge.
Anyway, this was a little rambly, it's just what I've been thinking about recently

I took ss of your response. So when at a place where there no wifi I’ll just over what you said, I’m low key kinda obsessed. And I the world building, with only women get to be magical inclined, like purr 💅. And I forgot to mention this from my previous ask, about name for your oc. I was thinking he would have formal full first name, but goes but a nickname. Like Charles-chuck, Ronald- Ron, Gabriel-Gabe, George- Georgie, Fredrick- Fred/Freddy, Robert- Robby, Edward- Ed/Eddie, Francis- Frank. Sorry that’s a lot 😭😭😭. I thought why not a silly name for a silly man. I have a headcanon that his mother probably named him this formal name in hopes he grows up to be some kind responsible and stern man, of course that’s not the case. His sisters probably gave him the silly nickname as some kind of teasing, which he probably didn’t like but eventually accepted. And for when he’s jealous? I think both are good, but depending on the mood of the story. Like is it going to be more silly and up beat, or does it have it’s fun moments but has its dark undertones. I definitely see them wrestle, it would be funny because he’ll think it’ll be cute to pretend that “he’s so weak” and she “got him” and let her win, when in reality SHE’S the one pretending not to be strong :D. I see him as this dumb lol country boy, with a southern accent, with flannel shirts, and belt buckles as big as his fist. I really like how the whole thing that’s pushing the plot is reader letting him do things, like letting him manhandle her, letting him be in control during sexy times, letting him think that he’s letting her win in wrestle matches. I find that fact so adorable. She’s the actually puppy but he’s acts like one. I think a funny scenario would be where they are at a bar, and manically he gets hit on right in front of reader. Shes pissed and he’s confused…he didn’t think it was possible for even one beautiful woman to like him, but two? Yeah he must drunk and past out somewhere, so reader and that woman duking it out in the floor, yeah that’s not real 🤓. Me: He’s a silly little man *The silly little man in question*: porbably 6ft, beefy, can kill a bear with one shot, can snap wood in half. And I can only imagine when she’s pregnant, like big belly and everything. Like he’ll be gone for a couple days to hunt down food, and he comes back just to get a scolding “I thought you were a good hunter, why did it take you a week (was like three days)” he’s already apologizing but confuse what she’s means by a week, must be the hormones… “now come and rub my feet.Do you have idea how heavy it is carrying your child?”, he so happy to do it. That is until he starts kissing on them and she’s like “don’t be a freak, I need them rub!” 😭😭😭😭. But yeah that’s what I came up with for our lil silly man 🌚. Hope you liked? I tried not to go over broad with the werid specific details, I mean it is your oc, so what am I doing lol 😂.
Thank you! Thank you! I very much loved it!!!! You always have such nice things to say and you always add a lot of thought. I never thought anyone would read my original one of his, least of all it would lead to our daily conversations about him!!! I love it.
Oh!!!!!! I am loving the name ideas, I think I'm partial to Fredrick, I can totally see his mama naming him that after his grandfather or great grandfather, a stern, responsible, no non-sense man. And then out pops Freddy. I love the idea that it's what his sisters nicknamed him and mini Freddy would cross his arms and pout whenever they called him that. After a while, he would get used to it but he still wanted everyone else outside his family to either call him Fred or Fredrick because those are manly men's names and Freddy makes him sound like a kid. Until reader! and then he gets sad when they don't call him Freddy and think something is wrong when they call him Fredrick.
I've had some thought about the jealousy stuff (I have a full one planned) and I think that it depends on the situation. Like if it's some guy who doesn't pose a threat to him or you at all, and if Freddy is drunk or if it's a friend or just another drunk guy who only said something Freddy didn't like, Freddy is going to go down the route of goofy-looking fighting. Like these two drunk guys are pulling each other's hair while locked in an embrace on the ground while shouting "you let go!", "no, you let go!", I then see them pretend to make up and then Freddy is just punching the other guy's dick and then tackling him to the ground. And you're just standing to the side in disappointment, shaking your head watching as he's doing the helicopter technique with his arms to hit the other guy.
But if he sees the other guy as an actual threat or it's someone who put their hands on you. Oh boy, I can just see him belting the other guy up and being an absolute feral, screaming and everything. And then you'll have to get involved and just rip him off the other guy, and I think because you are so used to restraining your strength around him you underestimate how hard it would be to take him off, and you almost need your full strength to rip him off. But as soon as he sees you he's fretting over you and any perceived damage, he's touching your face softly and asking if you're alright.
Ah!!! Play fighting!!! Why didn't I think of that before! Your mind is amazing. Of course, the reader would want to play fight, she's part canine. I love to see the reader initiate it as well, she's just in this silly goofy mood and she starts stalking him. Like he's doing yard work and just chopping wood, and here you are hiding in the bushes waiting for the right moment. And a part of me is torn between him like knowing your there and playing along because he just loves you so much and he thinks it's very cute (he thinks it's cute you think you could actually surprise him and actually win), and the other part of me wants it to be a surprise, every, single time. Like he's just walking past and you pounce, knocking him to the ground and just putting him in a headlock (not with your full strength otherwise he would be knocked out). Or another time when he steals a bit of meat from your plate and just laughs as he devours it, but it's near your time of the month (full moon) and you get a bit wild and your just sitting there mouth in a tight frown growling and he just slowly stops laughing and then he tries to defuse the situation by giving you a piece of his food but the damage is already done and you are both on the floor and you both are just wresting. I love to think he still has no idea the reader is a werewolf and he just thinks all the growling, play fighting, can be naked in the cold and not freeze, love your meat rare (a bit too rare), love it when he scratches your head and sometimes you just grab his hand and plop it on your belly and almost purr when he rubs it, are just apart of your personality. And when you get a bit wolfy getting closer to your time of month he just thinks it's your real-time of the month. He makes his mother's chocolate chip cookies (i don't care what anyone says werewolves can eat chocolate) and he gets water/wheaty bags for you in cute designs like a puppy or rabbit.
And yes!!! I totally see him holding back his strength and letting you win, and he says things like "oh you've got me pup!", "your so strong!", "Mercy!", "you're doing so well pup" and you're just thinking the entire time about how careful you have to be and how you cannot bite him even though your wolf mind is just like bite bite bite bite (not in a killing way just in an 'i want to bite my mate and play with him' way). I also see you letting him win sometimes, especially during sexy times. But that's for another time!!
Yeah!!! I love the idea that he really cannot do anything without her wanting it like she really has all the power, it's all about her allowing him to be in charge of certain situations and allowing him to do what he wants with her. He still of course asks for consent during sex and all that but it's in the little moments where she is actively giving up control to him.
I can see the reader getting far more jealous than he ever could. Freddy gets protective but the reader gets jealous to the point of grabbing some girl's hair and dragging her outside the bar and chucking her out. She wants to do more but that would be extra illegal. And Freddy has no clue!!! He just thinks the other lady is being nice, or he is very politely telling this lady no and the reader just comes out of nowhere growling and just telling her to fuck off and if she ever lays hands on her man again she'll rip them off. The lady quickly leaves. And Freddy thinks it's so cute!! You called him your man!!! You love him!! From then on he's telling everyone at the bar how sexy his mad wife is and how much he loves her. He then proceeds to pass out around the back of the bar and it's the only time you can use your full strength on him to just lift him up and walk home.
AHHHH!!! Pregnant reader and father-to-be Freddy! Like I said last time, I see him as someone who in the face of stress just mans up (not in a toxic way) and just gets things done. As soon as he finds out she is expecting he's building a cot and decorating it with little wolves (he still doesn't know but it makes you burst out in tears to see little wolves on your baby's crib). He's stocking up the cold room and the pantry with meat, preserves, homemade baby food, and canned vegetables. He's stocking up on firewood and he's making sure you are well rested and safe. I love the idea he goes away for a hunting trip and the reader is heavily pregnant, and he didn't want to go but he had to so off he went. And she thought she would be fine without him but it's the longest she's been without him since her first heat and she is pining for him. Luckily moose wasn't needed (the dog) so he got to stay behind and the two of you are just sitting on the couch practically crying for him. the reader is getting so worried for her mate and also she can't put on her shoes without him and her feet hurt and her back aches and shes craving deer bacon with ice cream and they have run out of ice cream but she can't go into town because her belly keeps bumping the steering wheel. And so she's just crying on the bed with moose curled up with her and it feels like he's been gone all week (it's been 3 days and only one has been a full day without him) and then the door is opening and he's calling out he's home and your rushing (or as quick as you can with the weight of the belly) to go see him. As soon as you see his stupid face (affectionately) your bawling again and then he freaks out, thinking your hurt or the baby is coming but you just hug him and then still sobbing you're scolding him. "Why did you take so long?" "you can kill a bear with one shoot but it takes you all week to track a stag?" "you were gone for so long, I thought something had happened" this last one leads him to just hug you as close as he can with the belly in the way and then him just putting both hands on it and kissing the top of your belly. you then switch moods and are dragging him to the couch so he can rub your feet while you tell him a list of all the stuff you need (ice cream, peaches, more of his mother's chocolate chip cookies) and he's just sitting there smiling up at you as he starts to leave kisses on your skin and knee. But you are not in the mood so you give him a look and tell him if he had gotten home quicker and didn't let you worry so much, he would have gotten what he wanted. He just pouts. he tries again an hour later when he's rubbing your back. You give in.
I loved it!!!!! That's ok, I love what you have to say! I never thought anyone would have read that first one I did of his or even get to this stage. Without you, I would have just left that one where it was and forgotten about him. but you brought him to life!!!
lots of love mae xx

I know a number of people who didn’t lose their sense of smell… their sense of smell just changed. Dramatically. In horrible, unpleasant ways. They’d all be much happier if they’d actually lost the sense entirely.

Kansas' news anti-Trans "bathroom ban" turned on cis woman and disabled son at Wichita Public Library — I’d say something mocking about unintended consequences, but honestly, any outcome that includes some uppity Other being put in its place is desireable to these cruel and witless fucks. Disabled, dark, or ambiguously sexed… doesn’t matter, as long as they know they’re less.

It's been over a week since I saw it and I still can't stop thinking about the Barbie movie. It's like I'm still in shock. No one cares but I will write out my full thoughts here under the cut.
PROS
Like everyone says, I 100% agree on the set design of Barbie Land and the costumes. They did a fantastic job! I expect they will win some awards for those categories.
I like most of the soundtrack although there's probably about three artists on it I actually know. (I feel old.)
Ryan Gosling. To me, he had the best performance out of the whole cast. Ironically, in a movie literally called "Barbie", I found myself caring for Ken more. I think that is a testament to just how good of an actor Gosling is. They butchered Ken's character (just like they did Barbie's) and wrote a really half-ass script but Gosling STILL delivered.
Weird Barbie. I'm not much of a Kate McKinnon fan but I think she did really well. I love this concept of a "weird Barbie" because it's so true to life. Of course there would be a Barbie some little girl messed up! 😂
Speaking of "old", my favorite scene was the one with Barbie on the bench next to the elderly woman. I think this movie's message could have easily been about ageism more than tHe pAtRiaRcHy...
CONS
The biggest issue for me is what they did to Barbie and Ken's relationship. They are one of the most famous couples of all time, albeit a fictional one, but I just wanted them to be in love and kiss. 😭 I'm a hopeless romantic. I am tired of the idea that a Strong Female Character™ can't have a romantic relationship with a man because it makes her "weak" or "not as cool". One thing they could have done is say of course Barbie doesn't need Ken. But she chooses Ken because she loves him. She DOES love him. (IDC what Gerwig or Robbie says. They got it wrong.)
The plot(s) are all over the place! I can't remember but I don't even think the mother-daughter part of the story even got resolved or if it did it was done in like two seconds?! I don't remember, by then, I was getting bored and restless.
There was no point to Will Ferrell and the Mattel CEOs. After the chase scene, I completely forgot about them until they randomly reappeared at the end. I'm inclined to think they were only included to be a red herring for when they cut the trailers for the movie.
I didn't like how they named everyone else "Barbie" and "Ken" in Barbie Land (Aside from Alan and Midge). I get they are saying everyone can be a Barbie or a Ken no matter what you look like. But did they not know about all the characters in Barbie's world? Skipper, Courtney, Kelly (a.k.a. Chelsea), Stacie, Christie, Francie, etc? Just seems lazy IMO.
"The Message". Don't tell me "yOu jUsT diDn't GEt iT!!!" 😑 Oh, I got "the message", all right. IDK how anyone can watch this movie and not "get it" when they might as well beat you over the head with a goddamn sledgehammer. When I was a kid, I had a Life Size Barbie. Why don't you get one of those and write "FeMiNISm!!!" all over her body, take her by the heels, wind her up like a baseball bat and beat me to death for two hours?! In hindsight, it would have saved me time and money for sure.
If you liked this aspect of the movie, all the power to ya. You are allowed to like whatever you want to like. But everyone acting like this shit was so deep and profound... ??? I'm sorry, are you kidding me?! It's about as deep as a kiddie pool. I think there are rain puddles out there deeper than this.
They could have gone about the women's empowerment message in a much better way and a lot more subtle and a lot less hateful.
Which brings me to my next point about what I didn't like.
IDK what this movie was trying to be? It had some funny moments but most of the humour was corny and flat. I've been craving an unapologetically girlie, "chick-flick" movie for a long, long time now. The kind they used to make 15-20 years ago or so. Think "Legally Blonde", "Clueless" or "13 Going on 30". Or think even further back to the 80's with "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" or "Teen Witch". What better movie to make a return to that kind of genre than with a live action ✨BARBIE✨ movie? She is the epitome of girlie-ness and femininity. But I guess that's too "problematic" now or something.
Why did only Ken sing? Don't get me wrong, he did great, but does it seem weird to anyone else why he was the only one? It seems kind of random IMO. Why didn't Barbie sing a solo? I have no idea if Robbie can sing or not but still. Again, what is this movie trying to be? It could have worked as a musical but it wasn't.... but they threw in a Ken song and dance number out of left field?
And lastly,
Margot Robbie. I HATE to say this, really I do. Because I really like her as an actress. I had so much faith and hope in her with this role. I thought she was a MUCH better choice for Barbie than Amy Schumer ever was!
Robbie looks the part of Barbie to a T. She's beautiful. But as the movie went on, I felt like she wasn't giving Barbie anymore. At least not Barbie in the way I imagine the character. It feels like she was playing a completely different character. Barbie in this movie never really helps anyone but herself. Barbie is not supposed to be an emotional manipulator but here, she is.
It's not Robbie's fault because Gerwig didn't write her character correctly. Same thing with Ken. He's a himbo, for sure, but he's not supposed to be some pathetic simp. I feel like both Robbie and Gosling were kind of wasted. They are both so talented but their characters were not written right.
So, all and all, if I had to rate the movie I'd give it a 5/10. I feel like they got some things right, some things they could have done much better, and some things they just shouldn't have done at all.
This is all just my honest thoughts and opinions. If you enjoyed the movie, I certainly don't want to take that away from you. I'm a huge fan of Barbie and I left the theater incredibly disappointed by the final product and I was SO excited for this.

Like . . . do you realize how fucking terrifying and traumatizing it must have been to Tory that a bunch of adults who were supposed to teach and guide her wanted to physically harm her as a punishment for an act of defiance? To the point where they fucking lined up between her and the exit to stop her from leaving? And then made her break her own hand while taunting her about her feelings for a boy, then fucking tried to gaslight her like her choosing the dojo over him and everything else was "the right choice" when all it did was make her life a living hell?
It just makes it so much worse that it wasn't even really about her ghosting them at the qualifier. That never got brought up. In the scenes before that, they were still considering what to do about the whole situation, but then that whole thing with Robby happens and you can practically see Kim snap when she notices that Tory won't fall in line and turn on him, and I think that's when it really solidified to her that "Tory needs to be taught a lesson". Because that was the most dangerous thing to them, the fact that Tory actually had stronger loyalties outside of the dojo (even ones they weren't fully aware of) and they couldn't risk her turning on them in a crucial moment because of that. It would have been easy to assume that's why she ditched the qualifier, too.
And I'm convinced that's why Kim was so specific when she was taunting Tory, because they needed to scare her into being fully on board with Cobra Kai again. She needed to be isolated, she needed to have any other loyalties driven out, she needed to be pliable and fully under their thumb. Tory was always too emotional, and their way to combat that was to basically terrorize her into seeing her own emotions as a weakness. Mentally, that fucked with her a lot more than it would have if Kim had been chiding her about her leaving during the qualifier, because the sad thing is, Tory could make an excuse for that. That would be very black and white to her, an "I did x so of course y happened" type of reasoning, and she could rationalize and even excuse them punishing her for that despite it being objectively fucked up that they would do that to her.
But the fact that they didn't attack her actions, they attacked her feelings, they attacked her for who she is and things she can't control about herself, she can't reason with that. She can't swallow that down and move on. They called into question the things that make her Tory, enforcing the idea that there is something fundamentally wrong with her and what she feels and the way she deals with her emotions, which has ALWAYS been something she's struggled with. They saw that and went "yeah, this part of you is wrong and makes you weak but we are here to help you get rid of that" as if they were doing her a favor, like this would help her. They broke her hand but they also stuck a knife right in her heart while doing it and honestly it's the latter that takes a lot longer to heal.

Red Planet (2000)
Tumblr media
While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...
In theory - if you imagine hard - Red Planet could’ve been interesting. You'll think "It could’ve even been good if you swapped this character with this kind of person, or that element with this sort of thing..." and then you'll realize the movie you actually want to see is either Alien or The Martian. Instead, we've got a leaky movie whose ideas threaten to go somewhere and then just fade away. The lethargic tone and limp attempts at characterization guarantee you won't care about anything happening.
In 2056, overpopulation and pollution has humanity turning towards Mars for salvation. We’ve begun preparing the red planet for our arrival when the brand-new oxygen-rich atmosphere suddenly begins disappearing. Sent to investigate are astronauts Quinn Burchnal (Tom Sizemore), Bud Chantilas (Terence Stamp), Robby Gallagher (Val Kilmer), Ted Stanten (Benjamin Bratt) and Chip Pettengill (Simon Baker). Led by captain Kate Bowman (Carrie-Anne Moss), the mission takes a wrong turn early on and now the crew is stranded. They have to figure out what is happening on Mars and find a way to escape the planet before it’s too late.
Let’s begin by addressing the writing by Chuck Pfarrer and Jonathan Lemkin. The characters they've created are thin and unengaging. You can tell everything there is to know about every crewmember within the first thirty seconds. As astronauts, professionals and scientists, they’re never convincing. It’s true the performers don’t do much to elevate the material but when you start off with this crumbly of a foundation, it’s hard to build a monument to the art of acting. Similarly, the story is weak. It should work. You have a mystery to solve and a ticking clock. That's plenty to propel us forward. Too bad Red Planet doesn’t find a way to utilize them. Instead, we’re forced through some yawn-inducing drama in the form of whiplash-causing flashbacks randomly inserted throughout and the same kind of “robot with a screw loose" plot we’ve seen so many times. Why does the drone accompanying the crew of the Mars-1 have a military setting? Why is its vision so bad? Why does it have a self-destruct sequence? Because despite the setup hinting towards legitimate scientific ideas, this movie is not smart.
Other than the special effects, there’s not much about Red Planet that stands out as “good”. It’s not that the film is an utter catastrophe; it’s that anything about it has been done better since. The scenes of Commander Kate Bowman struggling to single-handedly save her ship remind you of Gravity. You’d much rather watch that. As uncertainty grows among the other crew members about who can be trusted, your mind races towards Interstellar. Another better film. The robot? I can think of dozens of times that’s been done more successfully.
Red Planet is the kind of movie you watch and then forget about almost entirely. Deep down in the recesses of your mind you might retain a frame or two of the conclusion; just enough for you to wonder if maybe the Mars movie from 2000 you didn’t like was Mission to Mars instead of Red Planet. This is one of those movies that would be "better" if it were worse. At least then, it'd be memorable. (On Blu-ray, March 31, 2020)

In Our Favor
Part 75
McCoy
“Are you for real?”
McCoy grinned at his sister’s exasperated face on the PADD.
“Why would we schedule an interview for you? We don’t know your class schedule or when you’re free,” Leah said, rolling her eyes at her brother.
“I’m still a member of the royal family and interviews are set up by our people,” McCoy retorted.
“Maybe you should be setting them up through your admirals now,” Leah bit back.
“Oh.” McCoy frowned.
“Oh, now it sinks in,” Leah said.
“No, I mean, am I allowed to give interviews as a cadet? I am part of Starfleet now, do they have rules about that?”
“How would I know?” Leah demanded, throwing her hands into the air.
“Who would I even ask?” McCoy mused, looking past the device in front of.
“Dinnae ken love,” Scotty answered from where he was sitting at his desk. They had returned from the walk in the gardens and had barely sat down before Leah had called.
“Well,” Leah cut back in, “find out. And then send when you’d be free so apparently we can arrange this for you.”
“Yeah, yeah,” McCoy said, waving a hand at his sister. “Late afternoons and evenings are open so far.”
“Call Mother,” Leah told him. “You’ve been lazy about that and she misses you.”
“I will. After dinner tonight,” he promised.
Leah sighed loudly. “We’ll get this sorted out for you, but next time do some thinking first.”
“Love you too Leah,” McCoy grinned.
“Bye Scotty,” Leah called. “Robbie said to tell you hi.”
“Thanks lass! Tell him hi too,” Scotty replied.
“Will do! Bye Lenny.”
“Bye.” McCoy set the PADD aside as he ended the call. “Bit of time still before dinner,” he said to Scotty. “Any thoughts?”
“Bet ye’ve got some naughty ones,” Scotty laughed as he got up to join McCoy on the bed. He moved in for a kiss, then moved back.
“No,” McCoy protested, with a blush. “We’re caught up in homework, I thought maybe we could read a bit.” He reached for the book on the bedside table.
“Suppose we could,” Scotty agreed.
“And if we got any other ideas, I’m sure we could act on those,” McCoy grinned.
Scotty laughed. “Whose turn is it?” he asked.
McCoy shrugged. “I don’t mind.” He sat back on the bed, leaning against the headboard and got comfortable as Scotty snuggled up to his side.
McCoy looked over as a gasp came from Christine. They were nearly finished with dinner and the dining hall was emptying out. He was just about to ask what was wrong when Christine spoke.
“What happened to Jim?”
Heads turned at their table to where Jim and Spock were just entering. Even from across the room one side of Jim’s face was brighter than the other. McCoy looked at Scotty wondering what they should say. Jim had very obviously wanted to forget the incident.
“That’s for him to say if he wants,” Scotty said in a quiet voice.
“It’s funny,” Cora said, “but I saw one of the Hammersley’s officers today and he could have been Jim’s twin. I had to do a double take.”
McCoy saw the weak smile on Scotty’s face. Next to him, McCoy felt Christine tense. She looked right at Scotty.
“He isn’t…” she said.
“He is,” Scotty replied.
“What are you two talking about?” Jaylah asked.
“Did…” Christine began.
Slowly Scotty nodded. Christine’s face darkened.
“They talk in code,” Chekov said to Jaylah. “Perhaps we should too. We could make one.”
With their trays filled, Jim and Spock began to walk over.
“Jim! Are—”
“Alright?” Keenser cut Christine off.
Jim looked over at the small alien.
“Yes. Thank you.” His voice was tight and all could hear the unsaid ‘I don’t want to talk about it.’
“What did you all do today?” Jim asked, very deliberately changing the topic away from himself.
Part 76
Scotty
After dinner, Leonard made his way to their shared room to call Eleanor and at first Scotty wanted to join him, however, when he heard that Spock had to finish a project at the science lab, he decided to spent some time with Jim instead.
He caught his blond friend in the hallway, calling after him.
"Hey Jim, can I join ye?"
Jim turned around to face Scotty and there was this look in his eyes the Scotsman knew all too well. Jim thought that he planned on pitying him. Which wasn't the case! At least... not completely.
"What? You don't want to spend time with your lovely prince?" Jim asked, one eyebrow raised.
Scotty chuckled and shook his head before shrugging his shoulders.
"Nae, he already has other plans. Leah basically ordered him to call his mother. And I thought maybe I could call mum too. I'm sure she'd be happy to see ye."
At the mention of Francine, Jim's face brightened up. Scotty knew just how much his friend liked his mother. And he knew that Jim couldn't say no if it was about her.
"Sure. Let's head over to my room," he offered and Scotty followed him with a smile.
A funny sight awaited Scotty when Jim opened the door. A sight, he clearly had expected.
Spock's side of the room looked as neat as new. All his things were properly placed and everything was tidy.
Jim's side... looked like pure chaos. Clothes were scattered across the bed and floor. The bed itself looked messy as hell. Nothing was in its place.
"Don't let mum see yer side of the room," Scotty couldn't help but joke and Jim only grinned.
"Don't worry. From where we'll be sitting, she can only see Spock's side."
Jim sat down in one of the chairs that was placed in front of his desk.
"You can take Spock's chair from over there," he told Scotty with a nod of his head and the Scotsman did as he was told.
Jim was right. Sitting at his desk only Spock's side of the room was visible.
"I hope mum is awake already. This bloody time difference!" Scotty muttered as he started the call.
They waited for a moment but it didn't take too long for Francine's face to appear on-screen.
At first she looked very tired, but as soon as she saw who was calling, a smile spread across her face.
"Monty? Oh and Jim! Hello lads!"
She happily looked from one boy to the other.
"Hey, a mhàthair."
"Good evening, Francine. We hope we didn't wake you?"
"Nae, nae. I just got up. It's so nice to see ye! How are ye? How are yer studies going? How-"
Scotty swallowed when he saw his mother's eyes narrowing. She moved closer to the screen to get a better look at the boys. Her eyes widened.
"What in the name of the lord happened to yer face, Jim!"
Scotty tried his best not to swear. He really had hoped that the color couldn't be seen on-screen. He didn't want Jim to need to talk about it again.
He was very surprised when his friend spoke up.
"I... got into a little fight. It's nothing big."
Jim claiming that it was nothing big, didn't stop Francine from being furious.
"Who did that to ye? Did ye report them? How dare someone strike ye!"
A crooked smile formed on Jim's lips as he carefully touched his cheek.
"Sam."
It surprised Scotty even more how open and honest Jim was about what had happened. Never would he have thought that he would tell Francine everything.
"Yer brother? What is he doing at the academy? And how dare that boy hurt ye!"
So Jim told her. He told her about what had happened in town. He told her about how Sam had tried to talk to him and how everything had gotten out of hand.
Scotty could see his mother's jaw tense with every word Jim said. Anger mixed with disbelief and shock.
"Such behavior is totally unacceptable! Ye have to report him! And tell yer mum about it!"
Jim sighed and shook his head.
"It wouldn't change a thing. I'd rather just forget about it."
Worry filled Francine's eyes. She could see that this was all bothering Jim quite a lot.
"How about ye give me a number and I'll contact that young lad myself? I sure as hell have a lot of things to say to him."
"Thank you. But that's really not necessary, mu- Francine."
A blush crept onto Jim's face as he noticed that he had almost called his counterpart 'mum'. But Francine only smiled at him.
"I see. Then please call me at least if there is anything on yer mind ye want to talk about, will ye?"
Jim nodded, a grateful smile on his lips.
"I will... thanks."
"Now, tell me about yer studies, will ye? How's it going?"

The weak point smash attacks in Age of Calamity are cool enough, but I wish the camera didn't lock the way it does during the animation, because it means we miss seeing details like this:
The Blademasters wave to Kohga after they toss him, which you don't see unless the camera gets stuck at a different angle. Like, that's a fun detail! Why would you hide it where we can't see it?

Good news! I'm slowly becoming a fan of the Metroid series. This started shortly after I was exposed to the idea that Samus and Pikachu are pals ever since she rescued him in Smash Bros Brawl in the Subspace Emissary story. Which I know isn't part of the Metroid lore, obviously, but it did make me appreciate Samus as a character.
She is an ice-cold, unflinching badass in her games (which I need to finish playing still, so no spoilers) and relies on no one but herself. That said, I love the idea that she has a soft spot for this fuzzy yellow critter with the world's worse case of static. She saw he was in trouble, broke him out with no hesitation because it was the right thing to do and now they're inseparable.
And I know that has nothing to do with Metroid proper, but like I said, it makes me appreciate Samus that much more. That's the power of fanfic, baby.

Perhaps a spicy take:
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity did more to make Hyrule feel like a populated, living world to me than many of the mainline games.
I'm serious. This version of Hyrule feels like it's full of people, and as you play, you really get a sense that you're helping them out. See, to earn things like health bonuses and attack combos, you have to complete these little text-only quests. On every level where you actually fight enemies, you earn materials, and different quests require specific materials for completion. And all these quests have a little blurb about a task that needs to be done that requires the materials you provide. When you complete the quest, there's another blurb talking about how you helped the people out.

Random BOTW headcanon:
Master Kohga faked his death in his fight with Link so he could go back to his nap.
He's not incompetent by any means and is in fact a skilled and powerful warrior. The fight was a sham to get the Thunder Helm out of the hideout so the Gerudo would stop raiding it. His lackeys stole it because it's treasure, but he obviously couldn't just say, "Take it back, you're making it worse around here." After his 'defeat', the rest of the Yiga played along, accusing Link of murder and making their attacks more personal.
In conclusion, Master Kohga is actually very intelligent and despite being the leader of a cult of personality, he watches out for the clan and acts in their best interest at all times.
