MHA characters as your best friend
Tumblr media
Hi, this is the first set of head cannons I've ever done, so if there's anything wrong with them please let me know!
So this is what I think the these BNHA characters would be like as your best friend.
CW - One mention of depression, fluffiness galore
Characters in this include: Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugou, Eijirou Kirishima, and Denki Kaminari.
Enjoy the read darlings <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Izuku Midoriya
I feel like he would probably get on your nerves at first.
Like not Bakugou type of get on your nerves, but his insistent mumbling would probably be agitating.
That's why I feel that you would probably become friends during a project.
You two were partnered together (forcibly) for an English project.
When present mic informed you that you two were paired together, you weren't upset, but you weren't jumping up and down in your seat either.
Regardless you sat next to him in class and started your project.
You both decided that the project would go by quicker if you did it outside of class, so you met up in the library.
The project wasn't that long and the two of you finished it in a few hours.
Before you could speed walk back to your dorm, Midoriya asked if you wanted to go down to the café down the street the next day.
"I don't really know anything about you and I want to be your friend :)"
How could you possibly say no to that :( ???
also because he said it was his treat, but that's besides the point-
And then you find out that he's such a sweetheart, and so inspirational.
Okay now past the mush BS and onto how he'd be as your bestie.
I feel like he talks about you so much to the point where people think he has a crush on you.
He doesn't, he just thinks you're amazing and such an inspiring hero :(
I also firmly believe that he will send you voice messages in the middle of the night when his brain is awake.
Like you've learned to keep your phone on silent at night or else you'll wake up to pings over and over again.
Sends like ten on a slow day, on the regular, twenty to twenty-five
Most of the time sometimes they're about hero's, others times they're about something that just doesn't make sense.
Like Helen Keller (SHE DIDN'T EXIST AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL-)/hj
He will do anything for you, no matter how ridiculous.
Go get snacks with you at 1am because you're hungry? Let him put his shoes on
Order food for you if you're feeling anxious/non-verbal? What kinda sauce do you want with your tenders?
Come and bring you toilet paper directly after training? He's on his way.
(for my uterus havers) Go to the store at 5am because you're out of period products? What size do you need? Do you need snacks too? He can get those as well.
Take a bullet? Done and Done.
Over all, he's a really great friend to have.
But don't you fuck him over, because he'll forgive, but he will never forget
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Katsuki Bakugou
This son of a bitch (who I'm totally not enamored with) would take a while to warm up to you.
I think you, him, and Kirishima, are a trio.
You and Kirishima being the only people he actually trusts a pain in his ass
Constantly bothering him
He can't stand the two of you
(which translates down to, he loves the both of you and would die for you)
Because he's not good with his words, his love languages are acts of service and quality time
So he cooks for you two.
If you're having a depressive episode he'll come into your dorm, and start picking up junk off of your floor
Mumbling something about how "this idiotic little shit can't even take care of themselves"
He makes it seem like him taking care of you is a burden on him
In reality, he's just worried :(
I hope you can read body language though.
Because yeah, most of the time when he tells you to fuck off and to get off of him when you're hugging he doesn't mean it.
And if you let go his scowl will deepen tenfold.
But sometimes he generally just doesn't like to be touched
And you need to learn how to read that, or he'll drop you so fast it'll make your head spin
Much like Deku, if he trusts you enough, he'll die for you
No seriously
It's actually kinda concerning
Make sure you check in on him every once in a while.
His mental health is shit I'm ngl
All in all, when he warms up to you, he's a great friend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eijirou Kirishima
THIS RAY OF SUNSHINE
OH MY GOD, I LOVE HIM SO MUCH
Anyways-
I feel like with this, you, him, and blasty wouldn't be a trio :(
Sad I know
His whole thing with you is,
"Yeah Bakugou's my best friend, but you're my best best friend :)"
HE IS SO SWEET
Not to the point where people assume you're dating when they meet you, but people do think you two should be together
Saying things like "you two would be so cute together :("
But you and him have discussed this and are just friends.
He still loves you though!
You two spar together all the time.
As he claims "It's beneficial! We get to spend time together, and better our combat skills" while flashing you that bright smile.
But he'd feel so bad if he hurt you badly in training, like if his skin accidentally cut you
Poor baby would shut down, the last thing he wanted was to hurt you
It doesn't matter what you tell him, he's gonna be upset for a few days.
Just reassure him that he's still manly, and all will be good in about a week.
I just know he is so clingy, in the best way possible
Physical touch is his thing, he hugs you every time he sees you!
Cuddles galore, it's amazing
But if it makes you uncomfortable, let him know, and he'll stop right away
He's such a good person, the manliest man ever
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Denki Kaminari
Okay, you know how I said people don't assume you and Kirishima are dating.
Yeah, complete opposite with this guy.
Everyone thinks your dating
To the point where Aizawa separated your desks during the next semester.
You two are all over each other
Flirting back and forth with one another
Holding hands
All of it
Basically, the two of you are attached at the hip
You became friends at the beginning of the year
Y'know, when he was flirting with people and asking them out on dates?
Yeah, you were one of his victims
But you flirted back with him
The two of you went on a date, and realized that you weren't right for one another, and you'd be better off as friends
And after the awkward phase, you two were inseparable
He'll just walk up to you with a random pick-up line, and that's how your conversation starts
Now, your relationship isn't all flirting
You two still do things friends do
You hang out together, hype each other up for dates and shit
(not me projecting of me and my best friend's relationship)
And comfort each other when needed
I just KNOW for a fact that he will talk shit about people with you
Like if you both mutually hate/dislike this person, you'll have a ball talking shit about them
And when they do something stupid, you'll make eye contact and not say anything.
But as soon as you can, you pull out your phones and start talking the most shit
He's amazing your honor
Tumblr media
A/n: Hii, so how was it? Please let me know in the comments! If you have any ways I can improve as a writer please let me know! (remember there is a difference between constructive criticism and being rude)
I know some were longer than others, but whatever ig. Let me know if you want this scenario with other characters, or just a different one in general. But make sure you read my pinned post before you ask!
Notes and reblogs are appreciated <3
I hope you're having a good day! And if not, I hope tomorrow is better! bye darlings <3

🗣️!!
🗣️Talk about your favourite WIP
One of my favorites I got going on right now is a short story i'm working on (maybe even publish!! But it's coming along VERY slowly lol): takes place in the 70s, rez horror, main character is a fat gnc Cree residential school survivor, & there's supernatural shit going on with witches, ghosts, and bad spirits & some colonizer fuckery. There's revenge, trauma, anger, hippies, and murder, and more
Some of the events and places are inspired by real life (like especially the rez horror aspect & reservation life & trauma & shit) but aren't necessarily directly lifted: i kinda wanted the setting to feel authentic in the way that ndns will be able to instantly recognize & relate to, like it feels like it could have happened where you live or to someone you know. Cree will also be included.
Book/author & film influences/inspirations for my writing this I'd say are Silent Hill, Dance Me Outside, Annihilation, "Sharp Objects" by Gillian Flynn, "Monkey Beach" by Eden Robinson, "Indian Horse" by Richard Wagamese, "Beloved" by Toni Morrison, & Métis Maria Campbell.
I think it's my favorite because it came directly from my own brain & it's one I'm actually more confident in! Like I feel like despite my struggles with writing a coherent plot, this one I've actually managed to think up a pretty solid outline for, at least as a jumping off point. I don't want to reveal TOO much bc I'm scared of story theft (not that I'm super duper popular enough to steal from lol but still) & just in case of the event i make some drastic changes. Some of the slowness is due to me getting the details just right & doing more research on things i need to know more about (like Christianity. My family shielded me from it so successfully that I can barely tell apart the various denominations fvshfydh. Im straight up thinking of attenting a Bible study club specifically to do research).

Just the Two of Us Horror Inspiration MegaPost
It's nearly Halloween so I'm going to spend an embarrassing amount of time explaining every single horror reference and inspiration in Just the Two of Us that I can recall. I'll try to include links where I can for more context.
Story in General
The biggest inspirations for Just the Two of Us were Silent Hill, Black Mirror and I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. I've always adored psychological horror and sci-fi horror and I think it reflects in this fic. Chapter 1
One of my favourite Silent Hill games is Silent Hill 4. The game is focused on a man who cannot leave his apartment. The concept of a house that cannot be escaped from is really fascinating to me and I think it played a big inspiration for the house in JtToU. I pretty much consider one of the game's songs, Tender Sugar, the unofficial theme of the fic. Time dilation in fiction is super interesting to me. I don't think it was necessarily a huge inspiration, but The Jaunt is a beautifully creepy short story that probably rolled around in my mind while I was writing this part. Chapter 3 Okay this isn't scary or intentional, but I legitimately cannot read the hydrazine cup scene anymore without thinking about that one scene from The Princess Bride. I can't believe I did not see that sooner and now I can't stop thinking about Kokichi screaming about how Greek philosophers are all morons. Chapter 4
Again, not intentionally a reference, but that scene in The Thing is Kokichi stuck in the chair lmao. Chapter 6
When the fake Shuichi talks to Kaito over the wall, one of his lines was taken directly from Waiting for You, another Silent Hill 4 song. Chapter 7 The short burst of static that Kaito hears from the phone at the end of this chapter was directly inspired by the radio from Silent Hill 2. It spurts out creepy, distorted static when an enemy is nearby. Chapter 8 Okay the good stuff now. This chapter, especially the first half of the house (a distorted version of Kokichi and/or Oma's apartment), was directly inspired by the movie Skinamarink. That movie follows a young child trapped in a house with no windows or doors and a weird, malevolent force lurking over them. I really wanted the whole vibe of that section to reflect this. There was also definitely heavy inspiration from Silent Hill, particularly Lakeview Hotel in Silent Hill 2. The design of Shadow Child was inspired by the Larval Stalkers in Silent Hill 1. Chapter 10 Mani-Kun is a love letter to every single creepy mannequin in every horror game ever. Love you, you absolute freaks <3 Chapter 11 Miu's copy being stuck in P.A.L was definitely inspired by a bunch of different things, especially SOMA and this fantastic animated short To Be. Love some of that existential am I real or just a copy sort of thing. Chapter 12 The horror movie that Kaito mentions during the game of Two Truths and a Lie is Event Horizon. I honestly don't know how he could have sat through it, let alone enjoyed it. He probably had nightmares for weeks afterward. Chapter 13 Miu standing in the corner like a creepy fuck was inspired by the ending of the Blair Witch Project. Her whole transformation was greatly inspired by AM from I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, particularly the whole ghost without a machine idea. Chapter 14 This whole chapter was basically created as if it was a level in Silent Hill and Kaito was the protagonist lmao, especially when he explores the hospital. It even has a boss battle! I feel like the loop and the leech spouting terrifying stuff was definitely inspired by P.T in particular though. The dirty bathroom and the fact they are chained up in it is a very very obvious Saw reference lmao not even trying to hide that. Miu mentions she could turn one of them into a soft, jelly thing - that's taken word from word from the ending of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. Chapter 16
This chapter, particularly when Kokichi is still trapped in the debug room, was definitely inspired by Omori. Just the concept of a character in denial over a very bad thing which makes them blank out any awfulness in an act of self-preservation. The whole talking to another version of yourself was also inspired by the Stephen King story Gerald's Game. I love the idea of an isolated character having to converse with themself in order to stay sane or rationalise things. The creepy Judas Cradle chair from the hospital flashback was definitely Saw-inspired. Also it was an actual torture device that has been used in the past so that's fun. Chapter 19
Momota's personality and traits were heavily inspired by Patrick Bateman from American Psycho. The scene where he ties up Kokichi and the whole conversation he has with Miu in the snowy cabin are probably the best examples of this lmao.
Also a guy chasing after his partner and kids with an ax in a bloodthirsty rampage in the snow? Guess we need to tick off yet another Stephen King reference lmao. I swear that one was unintentional though. Oh yeah, their kids are named after Satoshi Kon (creator of psychological horror masterpieces like Perfect Blue and Paranoia Agent) and Koji Suzuki (author of The Ring and Dark Water).
Chapter 20
Kokichi's transformation into a leech was heavily inspired by I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. Again, another reference to the soft, jelly line as well. Momota's rant about how much he hates Kaito was kind of inspired by AM's rant .
That's about it! At least, what I can recall ahaha. But yeah I love horror with all my heart and soul <3

Please I'd love to know more details about your Sinclair dating sim dream!
Didn't expect this but here you go!
I would say that it's either before the movie is set or it's after the Sinclair bros dealt with a group that ransacked and kind of ruined the place
But here is a summary of what I remember:
It starts off with being in a car with a group of friends
There was like a hill overview of Ambrose (don't know why lmao, definitely not canon) and the only light was coming from the house
The group decides to go investigate.
I got knocked tf out, and then woke up in the house tied up.
First thought, where are my friends
Second thought, wow the guys in front of me are hot.
It's the Sinclair bros kinda standing around and talking about me
You know, do we kill her? Keep her? The good questions.
A few options came up: 'try and escape your binds' OR 'scream' OR 'stay silent'
I chose to stay silent cause I'm nosy and a hoe (theoretical).
They decided to keep me!
They split off to go do their own things and I got left with Bo.
And then it was all about picking who I would go help clean up Ambrose with
The entire time I had that feeling in the back of my head that if I screw up I'm going to die, so my choices matter.
If I spent too much time with one brother it could have repercussions for the other brothers.
I did in fact kiss Lester first and the art inspired by him in game was so cute. I wish I could draw just to show what he looked like (It was kind of similar art style to dream daddy but not as polished).
There was also another element when you would run out of energy and you had to go to bed, if you weren't in the house, you would faint in the street - didn't happen to me in the dream but it was a feature that I was very careful about
You would use the energy up by helping one (or more) of the boys when cleaning up Ambrose
But every day there was the threat of someone else coming into Ambrose
And that's kind of all I remember? I mean Jonesy was there too and she was adorable!
The worst parts? I woke up. and FUCKING MICROTRANSACTIONS!

(copy paste) when you get this, put 5 songs you actually listen to, then publish. send this ask to 10 of your favourite followers. (non-negotiable, positivity is cool) ~
Sorry I've been really busy so I haven't been able to get to this ask till now lol.
I might just tag some people because I'm lazy/sorta busy and I kinda don't want to send 10 separate asks lol
Also this is gunna be hard because there is ALOT of music I like and some music I like but can't really remember since it's been awhile since I've listened to them.
Songs under the cut.
1) Curicó by Kiltro, honestly just the entire creatures of habit album. I freaking love kiltro, they're up there as one of my favourite bands.
2) I need love - Studio mix by Akira Yamoaka, Akira is probably one of my favourite guitarists ever and I absolutely love all his work on silent hill. His music is really diverse, some of its kind of a 2000 dark ambience/Lo-fi, some of its rock, some of its pretty chill and then the rest is the sounds of the damned lol.
3) August moon by Gregory and the hawk, just a really nice song I like to listen to when I want to chill out :)
4) The mind Electric by the miracle of music, probs one of my favourite songs ever and the entire album is awesome as well, I love this song so much just for the final part alone because it goes so damn hard I love it. It sorta inspires some of the little au's and ideas I have in my head. I know it's not "technically" a Tally Hall song but I generally love everything done by Tally hall, especially '&' as well as 'ruler of everything'.
5) Endless cycle from Hylics 2, I love the Hylics Ost and I am honest to god super excited to play it. I did want to make this list without video game osts because if I did we'd be here all damn day but I've been listening to this alot and it's just a damn good song. Also Xeno Arcadia is great as well.
There's alot of other bands and music I really like so I'll just quickly list them off because I really like them and don't just want to not mention them at all.
Omori, Hollow knight, Oneshot, Pengosolvent, IDKHOW, Jack Stauber, Red Hot chili peppers, Murray Gold, Radio head, Oingo Boingo, Red Vox, Bo En, Kikuo, Alias Conrad coldwood, King Crimson and Jimmi Hendrix
This was really fun and although I never used to think I did I really like talking about music!
Ima just tag some people I like now because I do need to get some stuff done and DM people is gunna take a bit lol.
@imurgayhomie @ksenya-and-the-artistic-cucumber @scientific--witchery @omoriboii @johnlocsin-johnyakuza @seryotonin @biocrafthero @sheepeal @sirenspells @qiuiq
Okay bye bye :)

Be In My Eyes - Chapter 1
This is a Vaxleth-centric College AU fic, where our group of chucklefucks share an apartment. You can also find this fic available on AO3. The title was inspired by the song Flowers in Your Hair by The Lumineers.
In the town of Byroden stood a large oak tree, behind which a small girl tried to hide from her brother, her dark hair in a messy braid and her hazel-brown eyes searching the direction from which she had seen him last. She was holding a stick almost as big as her with a piece of string tied to each end in what looked like a makeshift bow.
“Come on, Vex! It’s getting late, and I’m hungry!” A boy’s voice sounded in the distance. The girl, Vex, took a deep breath before she started to round the tree, as slowly and quietly as she could, looking for the source of the voice.
Vex wasn’t as great at hiding as he was, so he spotted her with ease, crouching by the roots of the large tree with her back to him. His equally dark hair fell at the sides of his face, a face so similar to the girl’s, but for the slight change of his features. The boy was able to approach his sister from behind without her noticing, his feet so silent against the dry ground that one could guess he was levitating.
“Caught you!”
The girl jumped in place, raised a hand to her chest, and screamed as she turned to face him. “Vax! You scared me!”
Vax laughed at his sister’s reaction. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders. “I’m sorry stubby. We really should get going." He pulled her along with him. “It’s getting dark."
The girl finally nodded in agreement and they walked together, his arm still draped around her, until they reached the small wooden house, where a woman with thick dark hair stood in front of a stove, stirring a pot of stew.
***
The mountain town of Zephrah was located on a hill of the Summit Peaks, surrounded by trees and nature, among which stood a small, modest house, made of logs and stone. The gravel path leading to the wooden door was laden with beautiful flowers of various colors, and the planters in front of the windows sported a few bulbs of flowers ready to bloom.
There was chatter coming and the nice smell of food cooking from inside the house as a tall, white-haired man stirred a pot on the stove while a small red-haired girl sat at the table, drawing flowers on a piece of paper.
“We learned about flowers today." The girl said as she drew a daisy. “We learned about cherry blossoms, snowdrops, and wildflowers… there are so many flowers with so many colors, and they’re all so pretty!” She finished tracing the daisy, only to start drawing a second one right next to it.
"Yes, flowers are one of the most beautiful things nature has to offer." The man said, looking over his shoulder. “They don't necessarily need to be merely decorative. They can have many uses, as you know." The girl nodded with her gaze still focused on the drawing, seemingly happy with the answer. “Keyleth dear, will you please set the table? Dinner is almost ready."
Keyleth nodded in response before her father turned his gaze back to the pot and started to collect her things by placing her coloring pencils inside a cute green pencil case. “Dad, what was mom’s favorite flower?”
Keyleth’s mother had died almost five years ago, when she was only five, and she didn’t have many memories of her, so she often asked her father questions about her. Keyleth knew that sometimes it hurt him to talk about her mom, but he knew it was important for her to know about her, so he would always answer her questions, especially the ones about what her mom loved and all her favorite things.
“She loved chamomiles." Her father answered with a smile. “They are beautiful, smell good, and they make great tea!” Like every time he spoke about his wife, Keyleth could see the threat of tears at the corners of his eyes.
“I love chamomiles too. I remember when mom used to make me tea when I was sick." Keyleth’s voice was soft and nostalgic. “I miss her so much."
Her father stepped away from the stove, making sure to turn it off beforehand, and approached her, crouching to her height and pulling her into a hug. “I know dear. I miss her too."

hi! I'm really sorry if this comes out as awkward or like really out of the blue, but I just wanted you to know that I really appreciate you writing and consistently posting stuff, and being excited about sharing your works with your fans. being one such fan myself, I am so glad to have found you during my tumblr phase (I think it's more than a phase now, lmao). if I was reading a book and a notification of you posting popped up on my phone, I'd leave whatever I was reading to read your stories. I'm mostly a silent reader, and I don't interact much, but I can't begin to tell you how much joy your writing has given me. I can't even explain it in words, your writing inspires me so much that I started writing as well :). picked up that novel I left a year ago, and it's kinda progressing(?). I'm sure you're a busy person, but you having the time to reply to your readers and posting consistently really shows how dedicated you are. I'm not saying that if you decided not to, it means your not dedicated, taking a break is important as well, but I have come to really appreciate and admire how you take the time to do so.
over jeweled hills was the first fic that I read from this blog, and safe so say, I was hooked from the very first sentence I read from that story. I couldn't help myself but go through your master list, and it was truly a wonderful experience. I love your writing style and your plots and everything, because of how beautifully it is put.
also, that yjhd fic that you wrote like two years ago? a thousand reasons why - that one? I have been building the courage to say something to you ever since you posted that. yjhd was a childhood favorite of mine, lmao. the soundtrack is still present in almost every one of my playlists. when I read your fic about it, I just felt so nostalgic. you wrote it so well, and I went to watch it again after eight long years. since I was young back then, I didn't understand bunny at all. but after reading your fic and watching it again, it made me reconsider what I felt about him, and really just changed my perspective. everything about that fic was just so perfect. the relationships in between the characters, the chemistry, the reunion with reader and jungkook, everything.
I'm sorry, I don't mean to make this a long ask, but you're just so wonderful, really. thank you so much for all that you write. maybe it's just a hobby of yours, but I'd like to remind you that it brings a lot of us comfort. thank you.
this is not awkward at all… oh gosh, this is one of the sweetest things anyone has ever said to me, are you kidding 🥺 and i don't mind this being long, i'm gushinnngggg :(( woah, you read over jeweled hills? it's been so long that i even thought of that one, i'm so happy you liked it!! 😭 and ahh atrw :( it's my favourite movie as well, and i tried my best to capture the emotions well, so i'm truly flattered you liked it so much and that it could help you understand the characters better wow what the heck :(( seriously, tysm for being here and sticking around.
i'm so glad you found your way here, too, and i appreciate it to bits that you reached out despite usually being a silent reader. and also like… you put your novels aside to read my stuff? goddd, can i give you a tight hug fr, love, like 😭 and it's super fkn cool that you started writing and that it's progressing, too!! i hope you've been having fun with it 🥺 no honestly, thank you so so much. i don't even have the words to express my gratitude lol like idk what to say except tysm 😭 i know writing to someone can be difficult and intimidating at times, but if you ever want to talk or reach out again, i'll be here 🫂🥺 love you!!!! 🤍

People who have actually read my critique of OMORI might've noticed that I cited this particular interview as the source for several of my claims.
Today, I'm going to try and dissect that interview as well.
Given that this interview is (apparently) also meant to be a lecture on game design and writing, I believe there is a lot to unpack here.
NOTE: Reader discretion is advised. By clicking on “Keep reading”, you willingly choose to continue reading the post.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
IMO, "a sense of spontaneity and randomness" does not equal the lack of a coherent plot, but hey, what do I know?
"My goal was to think very little and let my stream of consciousness flow..." Letting your thoughts flow freely is still thinking them, though. Additionally, what kind of writer advises people to think about the story they're writing as little as possible?
Tumblr media
Yume Nikki had eerie piers and quiet trains too. This is not as innovative as she seems to think it is.
Tumblr media
"Certain dungeons were only workshopped for only a week or even days." It seems that the game was really rushed.
Keep this in mind. It will become relevant later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A direct manifestation of one's subconscious that progressively becomes more nightmarish and unpredictable is exactly what Silent Hill is.
I'm not trying to say that writers using previously-explored ideas in some other form in their writing is always bad, of course. However, I believe there is a signficant difference between drawing inspiration from a particular work of fiction for your own and blatantly lifting imagery/concepts from other works to fit your own story. Besides, OMORI doesn't even really put an original or interesting spin on any of the writing conventions and previously-explored ideas it features.
Tumblr media
...Sunny's childhood was pretty much ideal, though. His life up until Mari's death is presented as such by the game. He had a loving older sister, very loyal friends and all the newest toys. Not only that, but Omocat herself has previously described Sunny's childhood as "very idealized"
[that passage is its own can of worms lmao. "MARI, the overbearing big sister" literally at what point in the game was she overbearing]
Tumblr media
Padding out your game with extraneous fluff just so that people don't get mad about the money they poured into your project seems... rather dishonest to me.
I personally think that length does not equal quality. A game can be 20-30 minutes long and still leave an impact, as LISA: The First can demonstrate.
Tumblr media
"The experience becomes what you make of it" reads as a very convenient way to deflect any sort of criticism towards her writing.
"If you found numerous holes in the story and were left dissatisfied as a result, that's your fault sweetie uwu"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I personally see this as laughable writing advice. If you build the foundation of your story on the highly subjective and nebulous Vibes™ while giving little to no consideration to the logistics, your story is going to be a hot mess.
If "there are limits", OMORI's writing doesn't seem to have any. Judging by how thoroughly it permeates the plot, "Feels before reals" could be reasonably taken as Omocat's writing philosophy. There doesn't seem to be any underlying sense of thematic or narrative cohesion to anything that happens in the story other than the aformentioned Vibes™.
As I've detailed in my critique, this "writing philosophy" can be seen in the character writing as well. The game sends the message that Aubrey's hurt feelings are of more importance than the real harm she inflicted on Basil by bullying him, and then undermines its own message of "acting like grief affects only you is selfish" by implying that Sunny and Basil's feelings about their involvement in Mari's death matter more than the real harm they have inflicted on their friends by remaining silent about the real reason she died for 4 years.
Tumblr media
I can see her point - that "realistic" horror is way scarier and hard-hitting than something blatantly fictional - and I can agree with that. However, I can't call a panicked 12-year-old improvising a multi-step plan to cover up a murder "a believable circumstance" by any measure.
I suppose that the horror of a beloved family relative unexpectedly committing suicide due to severe and deep-seated mental issues they hid for a long time was too unrealistic of a scenario to explore.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She comes off as... mildly self-aggrandizing here. "yeah Link and Red are assumed to be self-inserts but MY silent protagonist isn't like the other girls 😤"
"actually he thinks a lot" literally where? what little crumbs of narration the player happens to get from both Sunny and Omori are incredibly basic. even Frisk felt more defined as a character than Sunny and Omori do despite having a minimal backstory and similarly staying silent at all times
Tumblr media
Not only did Aubrey snoop through her friend's personal belongings while he wasn't looking, she subsequently disowned him and then started bullying him with her new friends because she assumed the worst of him and instantly believed her own assumption without giving him a chance to explain himself.
Man, isn't she just awesome?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note the casual admission that Kel exists purely for the sake of being a plot device.
Amusingly, this also seems to (inadvertently?) imply that Kel wouldn't be needed at all if Sunny was an actually interesting character in his own right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's a single easily-missed bit of flavor text about Mari coming home tired because she's been attending cram school.
That's it.
Even if Mari's perfectionism is supposedly "present in other places", it's still not given enough focus to feel like a substantial and consequential character flaw.
Tumblr media
...well that becomes rather uncomfortable in hindsight. man, imagine if Mari treated Sunny the same way Omocat seems to have treated some of her employees
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As mentioned in my critique, this reads like a very convenient way to shield Basil from any criticism regarding his decision to stage Mari's death as a suicide.
Loneliness, insecurity and "very deep emotions" are not an excuse to tamper with a corpse.
Tumblr media
You'd think such complexity would've been reserved for Sunny, the main protagonist himself. Apparently not.
Tumblr media
"...These characters are so loveable! How can I get other people to see how wonderful they are too?"
Note the phrasing here. It's not even something along the lines of "I dearly love those characters, and I hope you will love them too!" She's stating that the characters are loveable and that she wants to get other people to see how wonderful they are, as if it is an objective truth.
I suppose that's the reason the characters seem to feel so shallow upon scrutiny - the game just assumes that you'll fall in love with them on sight and thus doesn't bother putting in the work to make them compelling or even remotely believable.
Tumblr media
The game literally makes you look through Basil's photo album three times over the course of the game. In fact, Basil outright spells out that the album is supposed to be "proof of [their] friendship!" And that's not even mentioning Memory Lane and the DUET animation, which are essentially the game forcing the player to look through the photo album two more times.
Tumblr media
Remember when I said that the game seems to have been rushed?
It actually was. OMORI was released on December 25, 2020, so there is no way Omocat didn't put herself and her team through insane crunchtime that year in order to get the game out as quickly as possible. In fact, she seems to confirm this when she follows all of this up with
Tumblr media
The game she's asking you $18 for is essentially a rough draft.
Oh, and by the way, the total amount of funding OMORI received via Kickstarter was $203,301.
Tumblr media
Make of that what you will.

silent Hill 2 thoughts (please no spoilers I just got to an important part with maria/around 3f of the Brookhaven hospital):
- this is a very fun game similar to the first entry and already has a stronger story than game one.
- it is, however, far more sexual/has sexual overtones, so like, don't play this one on a big screen around kids. not that most people do with horror games anyway, but I was a kid who grew up watching horror movies and my family play other horror games (like some of the resident evils) and this would've been too much for me. I think it serves a narrative purpose though & is presented really weirdly/interestingly so this isn't a criticism, just like, if you haven't played it, now you know.
- PS3 version is far buggier than the PS1 silent Hill one, which I find funny, but whatever, I'm gonna play the one I've got, you know. (I've also heard this was due to a lot of development shenanigans, including the studio they had revising the game losing the original build of the PS2 version, but man, it doesn't just look a little worse, this game has crashed on me like twice lmao.)
- the graphics aren't terrible, they certainly don't look better than the PS2 version but are at least comparable.....but even then, neither really match up to the stunning quality of the first game. It still has a lovely and creepy atmosphere, but very genuinely, I can see too much. I don't actually want to see the character's facial expressions, as uncanny as they may be- there was something eerie and charming about the PS1 blurred, smushed-up faces, sharp angles, and dark corners of the world.
- the soundtrack however IS an improvement, building on what works while delivering it through not-ps1 hardware, the haunting melodies and tense ambiences are better than ever.
- most of what I have bad to say about it are simply visual preference or complaints about the specific version I have (the PS3 version also just has shitty load times overall, like traversing the world literally feels like it takes longer in this one than the PS1 game. wtf)
- I do have at least one story nitpick though: I don't care what you have to say about all of the characters being flawed/morally grey, the only fat character (Eddie) being associated with food and emetophobia related horrors is fucked up. he's also depicted as fairly stupid & incurious, in addition to being the star of the few unironically "comedic" moments I've encountered in the game so far. this hardly ruins the game by any stretch but it is something I don't like about it.
- I also ......really like most of the enemy designs but they aren't as scary to me. Idk if it's because I just got used to the design sensibilities of this series or because I can see them better/another visual preference or because they're just not as scary so far. idk. Pyramid head guy IS scary, but not because of how he looks- he may as well be a horny cosplayer from a series I've never heard of. I could see this guy on tiktok. I'm sorry. what's scary about him is the way he moves and how differently he behaves from the other monsters, and how he always seems to be either lurking behind you or one step ahead of you. he kind of just looks like a guy in a funny outfit to me.....maybe it's just because we live in the age of internet horror & this game was likely inspirational to many people, so I'm just kind of, already "oh okay" about seeing that type of guy....
-i don't want anyone to take away "oh mouse HATES silent Hill 2" nooo Im still loving it Im just having a different experience than with the first one. if anything, this game is more compelling story wise AND more player friendly (other than the bugs....but I assume the PS2 original lacks most of whats gone on here). I just really like crunchy and obtuse visuals and I'm coping with the loss of them. why can I see James's face. This is a crime

Does your character draw inspiration from other pieces of media? Are there characters you have seen from other places where you've joked 'oh, they totally ghost-wrote my oc'. Who are they and why are they similar?
answering for paris
so my love for silent hill (particularly 1, 2, 3, and bits of homecoming) inspired most of my current roster: psychological horror is one of my favorite genres and I added bits and pieces of it to the psyche of my characters over time, which I hope is reflected well enough the more I post about them. so with this out of the way, here's an actual answer to your question :p
right off the bat, paris was directly inspired by heather mason of sh3. heather takes no shit from anyone, she's cool and fierce, but at the same time she's dealing with the death of her father, the insanity of the otherworld, and trying to stop the rebirth of an apocalyptic god—that won't stop heather from complaining about it, however. she didn't ask for any of this but she has to do it since no one else would. it's why I made paris snarky and a bit edgy; they're not afraid to express their true feelings on things, and throughout the story paris became more vocal, mentally exhausted, and snippy wrt hydaelyn and the scions.
there are a lot of parallels between heather and paris in regards to paris' story arc. though there's no horrific otherworld to deal with per se, paris has been thrusted into a battle they never wanted to fight. the burden and stress of being the wol and how it affects their self-identity continues to weigh them down. like heather, paris wants to be regarded as their own individual and separate from alessa/azem, and they struggle with the legacy azem left behind. much like how claudia did to heather throughout the game, paris hates being compared to azem by emet-selch or by anyone else for that matter. they hardly use azem's soulstone because of this: they don't want to rely on the strength of someone else.
paris is also still traumatized from hector's 'death', but unlike heather knowing that claudia killed harry for her own agenda, paris has misplaced anger and grief towards andromache as she was the last person to see hector 'alive'. heather went on a revenge quest for harry, paris was mostly aimless and full of rage that they couldn't properly vent. all of this changes once they realize the truth, and paris directs their hatred towards halmarut for possessing hector in the first place.
overall, the more I developed paris, the more similar they become to heather. the only major difference between them is that heather was used to birth a god. paris was used to destroy many

@a-mag-a-day Righto, MAG 009!
So I remember a little bit from when I listened to this the first time: I was immediately curious because it was from the perspective of a serial killer's daughter. Like, obviously not a real serial killer's daughter, but the premise intrigued me as I used to listen to Sword and Scale true crime podcast when I would go to the gym. So already we had this gal who's had to face a lot of stigma in her life for things outside her control, and then she has to deal with the supernatural on top of that? Very interesting.
Alas, for all I started interested, I've forgotten most of her statement beyond the fact she was a daughter of a serial killer, and this in part was what pushed her into the Hunt if I remember right. I'm about to find out tho, so I'll get back to this…
So in summary, Julia's dad killed 41 people in service to the Dark to keep Julia safe after his wife (who was part of the People's Church of the Divine Host) was eaten by a creature of the Dark. He did this seemingly on behalf of the People's Church under the orders of Maxwell Rayner and was basically turned into a full time murderer funded by either the cult or Rayner himself. Of some note is that we know for sure that the last person Robert Montauk killed was a member of the cult, a Christopher Lorne (who I'm fairly certain is just a one off character). This opens up the floor to several questions:
Robert told Julia "it would soon be over" and then went to kill a cult member. At the same time, his house was attacked by the Dark, and Julia was only saved because Robert's sacrifice banished the creature seemingly. So the question is: were any of his other victims cult members or were they all innocents and this was Robert trying to sent a message to the cult?
Similarly, did he know that whatever he was doing would potentially put Julia at risk and cause her to feel like she needed to call the cops? (probably not honestly, or at least I don't think he expected her to call the cops. But, I wouldn't be surprised if he was planning on calling the cops on himself after he was done with the ritual.)
Also of note: this series of events were a good 10-13 years before the actual Dark Ritual. Could Robert have, in his own way, been trying to sabotage the plans of the cult from the inside out with his last sacrifice? Obviously Julia had never noticed anything weird happening with the shed previously at night, so potentially there was something different happening with this sacrifice.
Of final interest to me personally is we get a really good outline of what physical signs are associated with the Dark: extinguishing of lights and dark, muddy, "brackish" water and closed eyes. What's interesting to note is the addition of the polluted water in these signs. I wonder if that was pulled from popular Lovecraftian mythos imagery? Honestly, the Dark seems to most frequently pull from the Lovecraftian mythos, particularly surrounding Dagon and the fish people from "Shadow Over Innsmouth"; though the symbology and weird esoterica would be closer to something like "The Dunwich Horror" impo. However, I'm not well versed in horror, so perhaps there's another source of inspiration. I know even just pulling from games like "The Call of Cthulhu" would make just as much sense or even Silent Hill.
Anyways, I've wandered into the weeds. Needless to say, this was quite the episode and I had forgotten it entirely tbh. It's so interesting to go back and listen to these episodes again now that I know about the Fears and the larger cast of characters and see how they all connect to each other. Also, I think this might be the most credulous we've heard Mr. Jonathan Sims be for his end of Statement commentary.

Just found this blog. Idea seems cool and I like what you've come up with so far and I wanna throw some thoughts out! One aspect of Omori that instantly drew me in was the horror and its contrast with the cheery dream world's tone. While it's pretty in your face at the start of the game to hook you in (a lot more so than it's major inspiration, Yume Nikki, which was a lot more subtly unsettling), the small aspects of unsettling glimpses at the truth that build up to the full-throttle madness of Black Space and the dawning horror of the "truth reveal" segment is really well done in how slowly it lets dread seep in. I also like how Omori interacts with the fourth wall on occasion, mainly how the main menu changes over the course of the Sunny Route to reflect the state of the story.
AS for OMORI 2, I have a few ideas as to how these concepts could live on in a spiritual successor or indirect sequel. For one, you mentioned this:
"I also had the idea of their little pomeranian friend acting like a save point, much like the picnic baskets in the first game. Pomeranians are also save points in the real-world areas, though in some locations (such as in Hail's apartment), it's a plush pomeranian instead."
Great horror titles in the past have played with safe areas and specifically SAVE areas in great ways. Some survival horror titles like Resident Evil force you to ration the ability to save the game, allowing the player to risk losing more progress to heighten the stakes. Silent Hill 4 famously creates a safe haven the player returns to often, only to corrupt and haunt this haven halfway through the game and rob the player of that safety. Heck, even Undertale, in its darkest hours, threatens to smash your save files to bits just to scare you. Now, obviously, forcing the player to replay content can be quite irritating, especially in a text-heavy turn-based RPG that's naturally going to play slower. But threatening not just the characters and their safety, but the safety of the player's progress can be quite effective- even if it's an empty threat.
Omori had a brief segment on route to Daddy Longlegs with the spiders that mimicked Mewo, and I think doing something similar here could be very powerful. What if your little save dog that you're used to being a full heal and a brief pause from whatever the story's throwing at you was suddenly gone? What if your dog was in trouble? What if the save points that you trusted up to this point in the game suddenly seemed not so friendly and kind anymore, all foaming mouths or sharp teeth or other horrible distorted features? What if you were hoping for an escape and a full heal and the game turned around and said "Nope, actually, you're not escaping the horrors just yet!" and dragged you further into the darkness? Lots of fun potential. I haven't scrolled through the full blog so I don't know how the themes of repression, horror, and loss of control play into the story. But if you're looking to explore what new horrors one can do with a place like Black Space, this might be an interesting direction.
Thanks for the ask!
"One aspect of OMORI that instantly drew me in was the horror and its contrast with the cheery dream world's tone."
"I also like how OMORI interacts with the fourth wall on occasion, mainly how the main menu changes over the course of the Sunny Route to reflect the state of the story."
Yes to both of these. It's that contrast between Headspace and the elements of sadness and horror that either keeps the player on their toes or lures them into letting their guard down. As well, a lot of other games, including OMORI, use the whole "changing the title screen" thing very effectively.
As for your ideas about tricking players with a false save point, I would definitely incorporate it if OMORI 2 was a real game.

I don't think you rb'd it but if you think you're getting out of this without an ask you're wrong.
Top 5 character moments in 14
And top 5 fave things about dead space gogogog
I did rb it i did i prommy
Ffxiv best moments In no specific order:
- Ardbert's last words to the WoL in shb. "If you had the strength to take another step could you do it? Could you save our worlds?" Death and killing and maiming... Which is what happens right after to certain dramatic ascian bitch >:)
- Haurchefant's death. I still cry like a forlorn widow. Don't look at me.
-Vidofnir saving the kid that gets thrown out the window by the crazy catholic elf and her speech afterwards in front of the awed crowd. Actually all that struggle to find peace between dravania and ishgard and seeing Aymeric try so hard gives me feels.
- The lvl 70 drk mission where Myste (and the WoL) make peace with all the guilt they carry. "In your darkest hour, in the blackest night think of me and I will be with you. For where else could I go? Who else could I love but you?" Insane. Absolutely insane.
- G'raha slowly having to open up to the WoL but especially their talk in Kholusia where he's totally not talking about how much he admires them and how they should go on an adventure together.
Extra: this was cheap af bc its coming from ew and they were totally throwing all their flavor packages in the same instant soup but all the dread you feel as the team slowly gets terminated to open a way in ultima thule. Fuck that but omg if i didn't feel it.
Dead space (and im missing a bunch of stuff i like)
- i love that Isaac is just Some Guy. He's an engineer and he's here bc he needs to do some repairs + he wants to see his girlfriend. Then he gets thrown into space silent hill. Also he's a little heretic who hates the dominant religion. Im not projecting :)
- Actually the huge silent hill inspiration. The monster is in your head. No its not. Yes it is. How about both? It will hurt you anyway just as much as the totally not scientology religion will :) oh, they look like monsters to you?
- i think my favorite part of a monster apocalypse is that it explains how it all went wrong and dead space takes its time to show you how certain scientists figured it out while others vehemently refuse it but Know it did. There's a lot of people that still talk to you in the ishimura and the sprawl. Ship's haunted.
- Isaac and Ellie's relationship. They melt my heart while still being a realistic couple of friends in the middle of hell. Their relationship in 3 is a mixed bag but after the world's (and EA's) dumbest love triangle is dealt with they're still a solid couple. Isaac literally letting the moon be awaken instead of sacrificing Ellie because after all he's been through no way is he going to let her go like that. You as the player know he could never go through that again. Will cause unending suffering to others bc of you <3
- the arms and legs of the necromorphs being completely justified as their weak points because they're deemed useless without them by the marker. Its not just a gimmick but an obvious sign that the source of this plague can make decisions of how each being can serve it now. Even that can be scary.

Silent Hill or Town-On-Gorkhon (as a place you were forced to visit)?
oh oof.... that's tough... i think i'm going to have to say silent hill because i've been to therapy, so at least i'll know what the various monster designs are inspired by and i won't have to worry about the failing economy the way you do in tog. also i don't think my silent hill demons would care very much about my being trans but patho 1 townies would absolutely try to beat me to death in the streets if they found out.

Movies I watched this Week #136 (Year 3/Week 32):
The outside man, my second thriller by Frenchman Jacques Deray (after the so much better ‘La Piscine’). So much wasted potential in this early 1970's mobster out of water tale, which was co-written by Jean Claude Carrière. Jean-Louis Trintignant is a hit-man sent to Beverly Hills to assassinate a big gangster, but Roy Scheider is another killer on his tail, so they chase each other all over, with Ann-Margaret, Angie Dickinson, 'Moe Green' and 'Russ Yelburton' mixing it up.
It serves up a very touristy picture of 1972 Los Angeles (which is nice), and it also has some plot twists which clearly inspired later films. Most notably, some very distinct scenes from 'Three days of the condor' (The kidnapping of a random female with her car, the tense sharing of an elevator between the chaser and his pray, too tired to fall asleep...). Also the mob funeral procession from 'Godfather'. So this forgotten film was hugely influential at the time. 3/10.
🍿
2 with Denholm Elliott:
🍿 In 2014, Steven Soderbergh re-edited 'Raiders of the lost ark' in order to show how brilliant Spielberg's 'Staging' was; how the shots are built and laid out, what the rules of movement are, what the cutting patterns are. The result was Raiders, a black-and-white version of the original, stripped of its colors, music and dialogue, and with a new, electronic score by Trent Reznor.
Found it on a video essay by CinemaStix, When the director is really good at their job.
Also there: When the director prioritizes character over plot, about Soderbergh's Ocean 11.
🍿 I should have watched William Friedkin’s ‘sorcerer’ (Photo Above) for the first time, but instead I picked his subpar 1968 The night they raided Minsky’s, a lame shtick about an Amish girl who discovers burlesque in 1925 New York. Even dancing-singing Jason Robards can’t saves it. 1/10.
RIP, William Friedkin!
🍿
Long story short, my second drama by talented May el-Toukhy, a Danish-Egyptian female director (made before her complex erotic thriller 'Queen of heart'). A group of friends in their 30's and 40's going through love, heartbreaks and life changes, told in 8-parts which are broken into celebrations: birthdays, weddings, christening and mid-summer parties.
🍿
6 Spanish-speaking movies:
🍿 Marshland ("La isla Minima") swept the 2014 Spanish Goya awards, and won in 10 categories. It's a slow-burn procedural Noir about two policemen from Madrid who are send to the backward South to investigate the disappearance of two girls. Before 'True detective', it created a different, atmospheric world. 8/10.
🍿 Death of a cyclist, a classic Spanish Noir from 1955 by J.A. Bardem (Javier's uncle), rich and dramatic. A high society married woman cheating on her husband kills a random man on a deserted road while driving with her lover. A different Hitchcokian murder mystery, made more interesting by Bardem's leftist politics vis-a-vis the Franco censorship of his time. 7/10.
🍿 The Chambermaid, another exploration of South American domestic workers, the silent and invisible service multitudes, that movies don't usually pay attention to. A shy and introverted cleaning lady at an upscale Mexico City hotel has a hard time trying to find a voice, however small.
This was a debut feature by a young filmmaker Lila Avilés. I can't wait for her new, acclaimed Tótem. The trailer. 7/10.
🍿 Wild tales is the most-seen Argentine film of all time, and deservedly so. A hilarious, unexpected anthology, comprising of 6 unrelated stories of 'People under stress': 2 passengers on a plane discover that they both know a person named Gabriel Pasternak, a waitress at a night restaurant serves a loan shark who had destroyed her life, a wild road rage incident that escalates, the car of a demolition expert is being towed away, a rich teenager had a hit and run, and the funnest, a fancy Jewish wedding which goes off the rails.
Absurdist black humor, the most entertaining movie of the week! 9/10.
🍿 The Criminal Life of Archibaldo de la Cruz, my 14th film by Buñuel, 'The Scourge of the Bourgeoisie'. On its surface, it's a normal 1950's Mexican drama about a serial killer, but it's not: it's kinky, off kilter, unpredictable, and always with an extra artificial leg or two that falls off.
🍿 Kiki was made by Paco León ("The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent"). It's another funny anthology film, a remake of an Australian film 'The little death' which I'll watch next week. It's an hilarious kinky comedy with 5 or 6 separate sets of characters exploring their deep desires and (less common) fetishes: One woman is turned on by tears, another by the touch of silk, one by being physically attacked, one sells her used underwear, three are getting into a polyamory. It's explicit, light and funny. Not for prudes. 8/10.
🍿
My first 2 by Georges Franju:
🍿 Franju was the co-funder of the Cinémathèque Française in 1936 (together with Henri Langlois). His scary Eyes without a face was the first French horror movie. A monstrous, mad surgeon who tortures dogs and cut off women's faces, in order to find a suitable graft for his disfigured daughter. Morbid poetry.
🍿 Blood of the beasts (Le Sang des Bêtes) was Franju's first film, a stark, non-sentimental documentary about a slaughterhouse. Contrasting scenes from the Parisian suburbs with the most horrifying matter-of-fact killings of horses, cows and sheep, is a study in surrealism. 8/10.
🍿
The Runaways, a run of the mill pop music biography, the story of Joan Jett and her first all-girls rock'n'roll band. These bios are all alike, and even Kristen Stewart and Michael Shannon can't redeem it. (It's my 3rd woman-directed film this week). 3/10.
🍿
Ali Wong X 3, again:
🍿 OK, so I'm crazy about Ali Wong's dirty humor, so sue me. Still, I will watch her Hard Knock Wife comedy special again and again. Best female comedian!
🍿 The Hero, a tender 'End of life' story, with golden-voiced Sam Elliott as an aging western star who discovers he has incurable cancer. He starts a sweet romance with the wonderful actress Laura Prepon, and has to reconnect with his estranged daughter. Great cinema, that could have been perfect if only there was just another small layer to draw from. 8/10.
Anyway, I am going to look for indie director Brett Haley's other films. Ali Wong played herself in a single stand-up comedy scene.
🍿 “… I have orgasms. He has wargasms…”
Savages is a top-tier Oliver Stone action-thriller about some hip pot growers in Laguna Beach who has to fight a brutal Mexican cartel operators. Loud and exciting, similar to Tarantino's 'True Romance' but faster, and with Blake Lively in a loving threesome with 2 dudes. Ali Wong appeared only in one scene as an underground hacker. 7/10.
🍿
No hard feelings, a new sex comedy ("Do you mind if I touch your wiener... dog?"), where Jennifer Lawrence is hired to deflower a 'Superbad'-era Michael Cera-type, because she's broke. Some cliched sitcoms jokes about the 1%-ers in Montauk, NY vs. ordinary people. And for that she came out of retirement? 3/10.
🍿
"Editing is all about the eyes". Another old 'Every frame a picture' essay, How Does an Editor Think and Feel?
🍿
Reflections on the 70th Anniversary of the Danish Rescue of the Jews: Talk at the American-Scandinavian Foundation about why the Danish Jews were saved.
🍿

Fic meme; 2, 4, 33, 35
2 answered here.
4. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?
Not sure how many.
I'm trying to write two things right now, might come to another two after I'm done.
From the first lot:
A) Ryo and Saki are skipping class, so it's just another of those fics mostly about people talking. I think I mostly wanted to write about why one becomes a truant, since I was an incorregible one during my schooling lol
Ryo actually lets out a small chuckle, but the text looks dry as hell. He wonders if he should send a sticker to convey it actually amused him. Geez, somehow texting is even more awkward than talking face to face sometimes. He wonders if Saki is actually in class and her teacher isn't there yet or if she's playing hooky like him. It'd be nice to talk to someone instead of just doom scrolling all day. He's no master at subtlety, and there doesn't seem to be any way to naturally stretch the conversation, so…
'cani call?'
The checkmark fades and is replaced by the read notification. It's been interesting to see which of his friends have the feature disabled. He wishes it'd be the kind of thing you can bring up in conversation without sounding totally bonkers.
'why? miss me that much?'
B) Since Aoi and Shuuji were the poll winners, I was gonna draw something for them, but then my cat bit my finger really hard lol So instead I'm writing them planning an outing for the group, but they get silly about it. Overachievers™ and all. (But I got almost nothing done for this one 🙈)
Might come back to:
I) Been toying for a while about the idea of exploring how Minoru's and Aoi's ideals might intersect. I wrote the first snippet months ago and finally thought up a scenario for the second snippet. Here's a preview of that second snippet.
Aoi is dead silent, frowning. Her face hovers over his, with that of him laying down and her patching up the cut on his brow. It's not often you get to see someone's nostrils from below. Minoru opens his mouth but decides against it last second. No, a hole joke isn't gonna fly with her. Even him can be considerate sometimes. Still, the seriousness is killing his vibe…
II) Wrote a Miu fic I'm agonizing about. I feel I need to adjust the narration to fit her pov better, so I need to revise it once I feel more comfortable with doing so. It's a girl incommunication fic lol (I also feel that it puts in evidence which was my fav scene from The Haunting of hill house). My friend said Aoi is very annoying in this passage, which pleased me greatly.
Aoi's eyes widened.
"You were listening."
Ugh. Busted. Miu shrinked, burying her jaw in the collar of her hoodie. "Only a little.
Aoi stared at her, sitting upright. "It's wrong to eavesdrop on people, you do know that, don't you?"
"Yeees,"Miu drawled. Well, that was it. She was talking to Miu like a little kid. She wouldn't answer any of her questions. Miu hated grown-ups because of this.
"Have you brushed your teeth?" Aoi asked next, as if to prove her point.
"Yeah," Miu lied by reflex.
Aoi smiled—she smiled a real smile. Miu could tell because her whole face changed.
"I know it's hard for you, so it's great you're making the effort."
Syakomon sighed and her shell closed. Miu wished she could that. Lying to Aoi was the worst; now, Miu felt guilty. Now, she'd actually have to do it, even though it was the grossest thing in the world.
Plus other things. I'm still thinking I'm gonna finish the multi-chapters/series I got there lol I also got another document about moments with Aoi and Saki, I wanted to fuse Simple Dreams to it, but I ended up not figuring out how to tie them together in an over aching theme... So I'll just go back to it and finish the whole scenario and post it separately, prolly. Ah, I keep remembering some other things. Like writing some pseudo horror stuff with Saki and Shuuji's first day in kemonogami world, and Plutomon, ofc (I was thinking writing something loosely inspired by The Telletale Heart...) These will take me way longer to get to because I have never written horror 😂😭
33. How do you feel about crack?
Never done it.
(Not particularly fond of it, but I don't really care enough to think much of it.)
35. Would you ever kill off a canon character?
Not really entertaining such idea atm since I mostly care about small interactions, and, also, the canon already kills charas for me lol But I'm more likely to want to injure the charas or make them go missing than outright killing someone. If I think of a scenario where someone dying would feel interesting, I would do it (I do like symbolic deaths a lot, but again, that's already canon in Survive lol).
