hey ummmm jsyk the red cross is going through a severe blood shortage. if you are eligible, please donate—from the beginning of august to about mid-september 2023 alone, the red cross has lost about 25% of its blood supply, and has been sending blood to hospitals at a MUCH faster rate than it has been receiving donations.

giving ONE pint of blood can save THREE people’s lives. power red donations (which require certain conditions be met) can allow you to safely give TWICE AS MUCH blood. plasma can be given once every two weeks, making it more frequent, but again, you must meet certain conditions.

also, i’m not sure if this is a thing in just my state or nationally, but if you give blood before October 20th 2023, they give you a free $15 Amazon gift card. i believe we shouldn’t need incentives for things like this but in case that is a motivator for anyone, check what they’re doing in your state!

i cannot understate the importance of giving blood right now if you are eligible and have the means. you could help so many people by regularly giving. someone in the united states needs blood every two (2) seconds, and while three people doesn’t sound like a lot, many people together donating could save up to thousands.

not gonna lie my characterization and rationalization of akira's character has been easier to do once i found out he shares the same personality type as me.

like sure it's subjective or whatever but as one myself, ENFP akira makes a lot of his actions make so much more sense. same with ENTP goro. god it makes everything so much easier with arguably complex characters like them.

"Your Grace...is it possible if we could see this more? You don't have to, of course, but this is really amazing!" She's practically GLOWING with excitement and nervousness. While Nahida wants to hear you sing and see you enjoying your time, she doesn't want to push boundaries!

Girl's flabbergasted. She thinks she might have been sent to both celestia and hell because it was hard to compute whether she was trespassing or if she was being blessed.

Though she's retired from being the Hydro Archon, she still has the slight dramatic flare she has had for 500 years. And she's got to say, she absolutely loved your performance!

Girlie doesn't realize she made a beautiful monologue about your singing on the spot, but one thing's for sure—she loves you and you singing, even if her ears can't understand it. It was still a beautiful piece.

After all, she was the All-Powerful Hydro Archon before she retired. She knows power and art when she sees it, and you bypass all forms of mortal concepts. You're practically her favorite musician!

A legit way to fight the climate crisis from where you're sitting right now

As promised, in honor of Earth Day, I've written some suggestions for how you can write a letter to the editor for your local paper, and reach some people who otherwise might get a more...shall we say restricted view of climate news. Letters to the Editor remain a surprisingly important political vehicle. People see letters to the editor and they feel like they're hearing from their neighbors- real people with authentic, down-to-earth agendas. They're the second most read part of the paper, after the front page. Take that stage!

Step 1- Pick an article in your local paper to respond to. Today is Earth day, and lots of papers will have at least something about climate crisis or environmental protection on it's pages. Local papers are better, because, as you can imagine, papers like The New Yorker get a lot more submissions to compete against, and anyways they don't have the same sense of local opinion.

Don't fret if your local paper leans conservative! That means it has readers we REALLY need to reach! And they may be more open to reading about these issues in a paper than online, which particularly a lot of older, don't feel like "the real world".

Step 2- Figure out what you're going to say! Maybe there's a glaring error in the article you want to address. BUT, if you're not sure, you can look up your local organization that's fighting for these goals. For example, I could look up and find MN350, because I'm in Minnesota. Going to their social media and their webpage/newsletter archive gives me an inside look at what people who are really immersed in these subjects have to say about what's going on.

So, for example, I see that my local group applauds Minneapolis's efforts at going to all clean energy, and has a timeline, but that people on the inside are saying that without a dedicated funding stream, people implementing these changes will have to either hope federal funding stays stable or fight for funding in the city council every year. Ok, now when there's an article about Minneapolis's plans, I have something to say.

Step 3- Draft it up.

The goal here is to be short and to the point.

Opening line: Identify which article you're responding to, and maybe your feeling about it.

First paragraph: What is the specific issue? What is a relevant fact and why does it warrant public concern?

Second paragraph: What would you say that we do in response, or what would you ask your neighbors to do? Why?

Third paragraph: What is currently being done to address the issue and how could people who have been persuaded act?

This should be no more than 150 to 250 words TOTAL.

While you're wording it, some things to keep in mind- stats and facts are good, but don't use a lot of acronyms or jargon. Expect your readers to be coming at this with about an 8th grade education.

If you have a sense of what the people you're talking to find persuasive, lean into that. For example, for my letter to the editor, I emphasized that chaotic funding leads to lack of ability to plan ahead or bulk-buy. I know the people I'm talking to like things to be common-sense and detest governmental waste, so that's an easy one.

Step 4- Proofread, then submit it via whatever process your local paper has. The goal, if you can manage is, is to submit something within 48 hours of the original article's publication. That's the sweet spot for most papers.

BONUS ROUND!

You did that, and still have a little energy for the environment left? There's one more thing you can do to super-charge your effort!

Guess what, you can stack the deck in favor of your specific letter being published.

But it will involve using a phone.

That's right, if you REALLY wanna turbo boost this thing, you're gonna call the paper (or have your non-phone-adverse-friend or family member pretend to be you and call the paper).

Call as soon as possible after the editor would have received the material.

Use pleasant persistence to speak with the right person. Don’t stop at a receptionist or secretary. Create enough POLITE urgency about your letter that you get through to the specific reporter or editor who will decide whether or not to print your piece.

Provide the editor with specific local info and urgency. Focus your conversation on why this issue is relevant to their readers.

Get specific feedback and/or a specific commitment from the reporter. If they don’t want to print the letter, find out why and what adjustments you can make to get it printed.

If they agree to print it, find out when you can expect to see it in the paper. The you can tell other people. Even if memaw isn't a big climate activist, she might show your letter to everybody she knows if she knows you wrote it.

And that's the process! I know that's a lot of information to throw at you, but ultimately, it can be pretty quick to crank these things out. And, again, these have been proven to be powerful persuaders. We need as many people as we can to be in this fight, so go and get them!

And always remember, you're not just combating ignorance, you're combating hopelessness, helplessness, and burnout! You can inspire people to think about what's possible.

Genuinely I would give anything to hear your thoughts or read more critical analysis of yours on other webcomics writing (*slides you Marionetta* I like the webtoon but there are some things in the writing that I'd like to see be discussed critically more often but the fandom focuses way too much on shipping. sighs..)

Anyway, you probably have been asked this before but are there any webtoons in particular you would recommend? :D

Oh lord, you don't know how many times a week I get asks in my inbox asking for my opinions on webtoons they're reading. It's really sweet that people wanna hear me talk about other works outside of LO, but unfortunately I just don't have the time to read as much as I used to, even keeping up on LO lately is getting really difficult 😅 I'm definitely keeping a list though of works to check out!

That said, I try not to read series on the basis of criticizing them because frankly I just... don't want to spend time reading something if people are only looking for me to rag on it? 😆 Of course I know that's not the only reason, I know there's also just the element of seeing me talk extensively about other works the way that I do with LO, but it's not really something I can turn on and off like that, I have to get really into a series to want to talk about it to that extent. So it often comes down to just luck of the draw :'0

Right now the series I'm keeping up the most on (or have completed and would absolutely 100% re-read):

Alfie (18+, it's porn with plot but the plot is REALLY GOOD , I SWEAR LMAO the art is gorgeous, the characterization is IMMACULATE, and it ironically tackles the subject of purity culture way better than LO ever has lol)

Theia Mania (the creator is often in my comment section / neck of the woods, she's been working on an Abduction of Persephone retelling for a long while now and has also tackled other myth retellings in her style! I always love seeing new pages of her work in my feed :' ) <3)

Tales from Alderwood (if you like fantasy and comedy, this one's great, the plot's really starting to get interesting and it's just got this really great sense of humor about it)

The Black Parade (this one's REALLY interesting, it's a comic-stylized version of My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade, using the songs as narration and sometimes even dialogue to tell a visual story, it's really cool and the art matches beautifully with the lyrics and style of MCR!)

A Tale of Two Rulers (this is a Legend of Zelda fancomic that poses the question, "What if Zelda and Ganondorf got married to solve their political crisis?" It updates a lot slower than most of the other comics I follow but the art and writing is so worth it <3)

Dogs of Future Past (and p much all of Lynx's Undertale comics which can be found in the link, seriously, THESE are the comics you wanna read if you wanna get into Undertale fanworks, they are PEAK)

Tamberlane (this one's an anthro comic, I normally don't read anthro but this one actually gripped me by the throat, the art is gorgeous and the character arcs so far have been great!)

The Mafia Nanny (okay it's legit so funny that I'm including this one here but I've been reading it the last couple days after seeing it basically beat out LO at the top of the trending tab for a couple days, so I figured I'd give it a shot, at first I was like "great more tropey shit" but the more I read it the more it's actually started to get pretty good, I'm holding out and hoping to god it stays that way LOL it's not especially deep or anything like that, but it's really fun and cute to read and the shipping of the main character within the narrative isn't too self-absorbed which I can always appreciate, I'd honestly be 100% fine with it if it didn't turn into a romance)

City of Blank (I talk about this one a lot here, but it's one of my favorite Originals right now, the art is super polished and the writing has gotten INTENSE, go check it out if you want some fun action / sci-fi storytelling!)

Time and Time Again (a time-travelling vampire and his werewolf boyfriend get into all kinds of misadventures, what more could you ask for?)

Touch of Divinity (like the Mafia Nanny, this is one I just started reading, it's got a very interesting premise so far and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes!)

Anon, I've stated this multiple times before but telenovelas and Romeo & Juliet have taught me it ain't over until it's over. I have thought that Tan was going to fake his death with the inhaler, and knowing he has been experimenting with drugs made me more excited for the possibility. But now, I'm staring at a dead body that I don't want to believe is dead, and Shakespeare's Juliet, Pit Babe's Charlie, and Sammon's Tan and Bun are looking me right in the face saying "the best way to get someone out is by killing them!"

DO YOU SEE THE VISION?!

Yes, the guys are hallucinating. Yes, the smoke is causing it. But why do they keep seeing crutches?! That's odd!

Phi and Jin heard a car starting when they were at the temple, yet everyone was accounted for, so SOMEONE ELSE IS OUT THERE!

We still have that missing second driver who knows his way around the woods at night and who got held up by the tree in the way but was that a lie?!

The axe just conveniently laying in the temple is strange.

The trees being cut up differently when Jin and Phi were roaming around the woods is weird.

Phi assumed Tan did several of these things, but we know Tan couldn't have done everything Phi accused him of.

And why would we see Perth take this call?

Nothing in this show has been unimportant. Everything we have seen has a reason, so to waste precious time on Perth telling Tee he was leaving after taking this call has to mean something, right? Was it just to show us how much Perth cares about his off-time, so when he stays an extra hour for Tee, it's meaningful?

NO!

The uncle died under mysterious circumstances, and even though I don't need to know how, it's still important that the death wasn't natural.

Because the plot is plotting and someone else is out there killing these people!

And I want it to be Non!

I know believing Non is still alive is a stretch, but even if it isn't Non, someone else is out there, and we've already met all the players, so it's someone we know. There are only so many players left on the board, so who is that hidden character?

Keng is dead. Amen.

As much as I totally and completely ship Fluke x Tan (shut up! leave me alone! it makes sense in my head), I know the doctor isn't helping the biochemist with this.

So if Non really is dead, that leaves White or Perth, and neither one of them would need crutches, and White seems to be having his own little crisis in the finale. The only person who would need crutches is the person who was already limping!

NON IS ALIVE!

He was limping from exhaustion and getting beat for over two weeks, so it would only take a little belladonna in his system for him to die or at least appear to die.

I've always believed there were two killers since the first episode, and I thought they were Tan and Phi, but Phi has ethics or whatever bullshit high horse he is on, yet that doesn't change my mind - There are two killers!

tell me whey i'm seeing legit twitter discourse over fucking q!tubbo and fred????? like seriously i saw a tweet actually mad at q!tubbo for "pushing his crush" on fred while fred is in the midst of essentially a crisis???? ABOUT A TWEET CC!TUBBO POSTED ASKING IF HE AND FRED COULD BE LIKE THE ROBOTS FROM WALL-E.

Look, i'm not caught up on lore right now, and I have a lot of catching up to do about q!tubbo and fred's relationship evolve over time, from what ive seen of their relationship this is a very cute story line tbh. q!tubbo falling for a federation worker and introducing him to what it means to be human. like that's adorable!!!! I love this little love story going on right now!

First of all- the tweet isn't canon. Fred the Character isn't going to see this EVER. it's just cc!tubbo memeing about his story line right now. Secondly- IN CANON, q!tubbo has been very respectful to Fred. Fred found out about the crush when q!Bagi told him, and when he expressed discomfort q!tubbo immediately apologized and felt awful. He is prioritizing Fred's feelings! If q!tubbo was pushing his crush, he wouldn't have done those things. q!tubbo wasn't even rejected! Fred is just unsure about what feelings are, but still thinks q!tubbo is very important to him. Just because q!tubbo talks about Fred and his crush by himself/to chat and cheers when he finds out Fred is his age (roughly) -again- BY HIMSELF, doesn't mean that he is being disrespectful. What is important is how he treats Fred, and he's been nothing but kind to Fred and hasn't pushed anything. Besides, navigating a crush is hard (i've heard lol) and he isn't being rude, he's being awkward. He's being normal, actually.

• Yeah, Kiana is not doing well once she finds out everything is just a game.

• Everything that she's done or have yet to do was predetermined and would always go that way, every choice that she made didn't matter in the end. Everyone she lost was determined to die and she couldn't do anything about it.. Was everything that she was doing now predetonement? What was her decision and what was not??

• She is having a huge crisis when she figures this out, everything that she's known has been flipped upside down and crushed.. it makes her feel distraught until she realized hey? Wouldn't that mean Himeko and the rest are basically alive? Sense of she's thinking 'logically' this is all code and they are all playable characters so wouldn't Himeko be in that roster of characters?

• That honestly gave her hope! And that was going to be what she originally was going to do, bring back everyone that died and make all of her other friends become aware like her! But that kind of got stopped in it's tracked when she met you, you were something else entirely.. you were something that took care of her, someone that praised her and someone that played with her in the dorm. You were everything but nothing at the same times cuz she couldn't see you.. Was this what people called a goddess? Since she's pretty sure she just met one,,

• Kiana saw you as a goddess from another place helping her, even if she was stuck in this place at least you were there and maybe you can even help her with this predicament of being the only one, who's really 'alive'? If she became self aware that means the others can too, right? Then they can be all happy together again, with you of course!

• So with this being her main goal, she's not that possessive or anything! She's not that yandere like the others- so it's a pretty fun time with her since she openly makes herself known! Saying good morning, good night, asking about your day and responding! She will legit have full conversations with you on the bridge or as she does something in game!

• Kiana loves to talk to you and help you out in game! She really can't help you out with getting better pulls or anything since she has no idea how to code- She is just a very friendly Tuna on screen!!

• But the only downside about this is all of the characters in the game that are playable will most likely become self-aware too because of her- and then you have a whole bunch of self-aware characters that worship you and most of them will be yandere's,,, soooo have fun with that!

• Eden is obviously heartbroken like the rest of them since because on one hand all of her friends are not real and everything she went through was for nothing but also on the other hand that meant no one died and no one truly suffered from the Honkai, and for some reason that brings a smile to her face since at least no one truly got hurt in the end.

• So she kind of just spends her life in the game chilling around and relaxed, even though she would like some company or something, she wanted has been granted because of the Honkai has not hurt anyone truly so who is she to ask for more? it's like a weight lifted off her shoulder and all she can do is just smile

• So she was living pretty peacefully actually and that's when you came along, someone to talk to and have a conversation with or just watch. Unlike Kiana she didn't see you as a goddess or something else like that, she saw you company. She saw you as a friend and someone to be with her

• She's very different from everyone here since she can understand your intentions and not instantly jump the gun about anything or just listen to you, listen to you actually explain how you got here and why you're playing the game.

• Eden is a friend but she definitely doesn't mind being a lover, sense she really enjoys your company but she won't force you into anything since she's not a yandere at all, cuz she can understand why you wouldn't want to get with her since she's just simple code to a living being like you. This won't bring her down though cuz at least she will still have you and from what she can tell you're going to be staying for a long time <3
