What if when Sophie came to the lost cities the black swan had been overthrown, and their leaders arrested. So by the time she arrived, she doesn’t have that same support. I think it’d take the story in a crazy, but fun new direction.
oh that would be very interesting--not only would she have significantly less guidance at the start of the series, but depending on how the Black Swan were handled, the attitude towards Sophie could be quite different; she'd be the product of known convicted criminals, not just the odd human girl.
She was observed when she first arrived, but I imagine that would've been much more intense in this situation. I wonder when she would've arrived, actually. Because Alden didn't find Sophie by his own work, Mr. Forkle led him to her. So without him, when on earth would Sophie have been brought to their world? Would they have discovered that sort of information through a mind break and located her around the same time, or would years pass?
I'm imagining the Mr. Forkle who posed as her neighbor might've escaped being arrest, which would create an interesting dynamic with her having one singular influence and resource.
But that aside, without the rest of the Black Swan able to work masterfully behind the scenes, there'd be no notes, no clues to prompt hidden memories. It would require a lot more work on Sophie's part to figure things out--which, depending on when she was brought to the lost cities and how (agreeing it was the best decision vs council forcing her, for example), she may or may not be capable of.
I'm also curious how that would impact her morals and sense of right; we see her learning from and guided by the Black Swan for most of the series before she branches out, following their methodology and beliefs on the limits. If they were never there, what's stopping her from going a step further much sooner? Especially if she's being more heavily monitored/judged and in order to make any impact she has to push harder--side note: I feel like in that case she might become similar to Tam in her disdain, she didn't do anything but exist and need help and this is what they did?
Would she be allowed to attend Foxfire with a significant association with a serious criminal organization? Even if she hasn't done anything yet, she might. And if she doesn't go to Foxfire (or is too old when brought), her friend group would be entirely different. She might not even have a friend group and it would instead be her against the world, perhaps a few misfits gathered along the way. Fitz might still be around because he found her, but Biana might stay bratty. She wouldn't meet Marella or Jensi, and she wouldn't have been adopted by the Ruewens (because confirmed huge Black Swan association when he thinks they killed Jolie? no way) so no meeting Dex. If she doesn't go to Foxfire, I could see them sending her to Exillium, in which case she might keep Tam and Linh as friends--but with a very different dynamic, since I think Sophie would be incredibly bitter.
Actually now that I'm thinking about this maybe she'd be picked up by the Neverseen. At least temporarily and in the same way that Rayni was--not that she's for their atrocities, but because they extended a hand when no one else did. Which!! Could then be an interesting exploration on how she wasn't a criminal, but via seeing her as one/as dangerous they limited her options and made her into one. She wouldn't have joined the Neverseen if they'd treated her properly, but they didn't, so now she did. Except they don't see it as their fault, as a consequence of their boxing her in, but instead as confirmation of what they always feared.
indeed, Nonsie, there is a lot of potential for a very different but fascinating story here. I've barely scratched the surface of all the implications and everything you could do with it!

I don't think Akari and Rei are being "whiny", let alone too much so. But even if they were, they're fifteen, in an incredibly stressful, terrifying situation, their whole world has been rocked off its axis, and until just recently with Rei, they each had exactly one adult who they felt they could actually trust when they used to have many. They deserve to whine and be scared and want to feel safe again, and even Akari who is in a much worse situation is holding it together admirably well.
If Ingo looks like he's handling it way better, that's because he's apparently half-dissociating at any given moment or something and lives in a near perpetual state of apathy. The man is, and I cannot stress this enough, not Doing Okay. Emmet is the only one of them actually doing decently well, and a lot of that is due to the fact that he's so fixated on his goal of saving Ingo. Which even then, in his thoughts he comments during the battle that his brain has been crowded with a constant flow of half-formed thoughts he doesn't always have context for because of his amnesia, and that the battle was the first time he could really Think very well.
They're all not doing great, but emotionally the kids are having it the worst. It's not whining to be vocally scared and want comfort when your life is in ruins and you are actively in very real danger, especially when that danger is coming from people you thought were safe and trustworthy. If they were handling this well, I'd be shocked and very concerned. Ingo's reaction, for example, is very concerning. If he was just holding it together for Akari's sake that'd be one thing, but nope, he's just genuinely being the This Is Fine dog. The only good thing about it is that it's not feeding Akari's panic and setting off a feedback loop.
So don't worry about them seeming whiny or that people will get annoyed by it. The vast majority of your readers, if not all of them, will agree that this is exactly how they should be reacting.
ToT thank you anon... this is. so nice i am going to frame it. it's nice to get reassurance that other people see the kids the way i do, but also, re: ingo and emmet, it's really REALLY validating to know that people are picking up on those things. i don't have a ton else to add bc i'd just be repeating what you said but you're right and ily

❝That's an impressive flying machine!❞ Emmett shouts appreciatively over at @aercnaut as Kaira circles around the basket for a complete look. A shock of wavy white hair sticks out from beneath the dark hat he keeps pressed to his head against the breeze rolling in, but the prospect of possibly losing his hat to the wind doesn't dampen his enthusiasm.

TOSHINORI YAGI // TIME TRAVELLING AU. ( notes for the portrayal of toshinori on this blog! mha manga spoilers are included. )
So basically, my Toshinori is a time traveler coming from a future where AFO won.
It’s still currently under development, so more detail will likely be added to this post as more of the au is created! however, the basics are that Toshinori’s memories of the future are vague and fragmented, moreso the further into the future they exist.
He knows a few things for sure, imparted on him by Aizawa, who was the last survivor there with him before he was sent back. Even if he forgets everything else, he was told it was crucial that he remember, first and foremost, that AFO can’t be stopped by the heroes alone. To defeat him, they need to save Shigaraki, and get the League of Villains on their side.
They almost managed to do so in the failed timeline, so they know it’s possible to do, but things ended up being too little, too late. Shouto, Ochako and Izuku were a particularly vital part of the  efforts to redeem the villains, reaching out to Dabi, Toga and Shigaraki respectively, as well as Aizawa himself, though Aizawa regretted not joining them sooner. It was mostly the influence of Kurogiri as well as his students that convinced him to join their attempts. However, Aizawa suspects that it’s everyone’s efforts together that will play a key part in winning the war.
For reasons that All Might can’t currently remember, All Might is the only one who could be sent back. He himself feels unworthy to be the one to go, feeling responsible for what happened to Shigaraki and for creating the flaws in Hero Society that were exposed entirely during the war... however, Aizawa assured him that he still did a lot of good for many people, and that he’s a good man capable of doing what he couldn’t do before with the second chance he’s been given.
Toshinori remembers events clearly up until the moment he lost the last remnants of One for All in Kamino, where they then become more difficult to recall, becoming almost completely distorted after the events of the first war. He remembers the backstories of Kurogiri, Dabi and Shigaraki at least, which he believes he must’ve learned at some point in the future, though it’s difficult for him to remember how.
Toshinori’s main focus after going back in time is to save Shigaraki and his comrades, as well as learning to rely on those around him without trying to take everything on alone. Unfortunately for him, upon arriving in the past, he finds it’s impossible for him to tell people about the future, so he’s also focusing on finding out what’s causing that and how to undo it.
TL;DR: Coming from a future where AFO won, Toshinori traveled back in time in order to save Shigaraki and the League of Villains and to defeat AFO for good. However, he’s unable to tell people about the future for reasons he’s unaware of currently, though it’s possible that there might be a way to overcome that problem that he hasn’t found yet...
This AU is very much a wip and is absolutely subject to change as well, so I apologize for that in advance! I’ll probably end up changing this all at some point let’s be real but. I thought I’d share what I’ve got so far because I just can’t help myself. :p

░꒱♡‿ִ₊˚→ APHELIOS
When you break the news, Aphelios forgets he primarily uses sign language to speak. To your surprise, and to his own, he uses broken words and barely audible sounds. Almost like a child learning to talk again. You have to help him by taking his hands, and guiding him to use them instead of straining his vocal cords.
'Are...are you sure?'
At first, it's difficult to process all the emotions. Happiness. Fear. Excitement. Anxiety. Love. Overwhelmed, he presses your hands against his face, hiding his unraveling expressions. Afer a beat, he chokes up. His hands squeezes yours, deepening your touch. And within moments, you're wrapped in his arms. And he presses as much of you into himself as he can. Holding you so close to his heart, you feel it pound against your cheek. As if to say; 'is it really okay for me to be this happy?'
To any outsider looking in, Aphelios seems disconnected and unenthusiastic about the whole situation. A plus-one wasn't planned, after all. When anyone asks about you and the baby, he replies with a simple 'Fine. Thanks.' And promptly diverts the subject back to work or anything else. But on the inside, the poor man is suffering. Constantly worrying about you and the babies well-being. In reality, he's too afraid to indulge in his own happiness and share it with others. Fearing the moment he does, it'll all shatter like glass in front of him. And he won't be strong enough to mend the pieces.
It's no surprise that his new chronic obsession consist of only making sure you and the growing baby are safe. He texts every hour, on the hour. Makes frequent video calls. And installs motion sensor cameras around the house, especially in places you could easily fall. And no, he doesn't mind watching you fold laundry or wash dishes for an hour while on a face call. So long as he can see you smiling and healthy, that's all he needs to assure him when he's not physically with you.
He's also pulling all nighters until his bottom eyelids are rimmed red. Reading hundreds upon hundreds of articles, forum posts, and online material on how to be a 'Good Father'—especially one who can't speak. Jotting down everything he can in his notebook, bleeding pen after pen dry from ink. There's plenty of times you have to wake up in the middle of the night and convince him back to bed. But only after reassuring him a thousands times how great of a father he'll be.
When the baby bump begins to show, Aphelios presses his ears against your stomach. Listening to the life you carry inside you. The amniotic sounds ease his intrusive thoughts, and lulls him to sleep; he always imagines he's taking a nap right beside the baby. Plus, he loves getting the small bit of attention from you as you run your fingers through his hair. A moment of selfishness he can't help but relish all for himself.
As for sex...well, he's not always on board with the idea. As much as he craves to be inside you everyday, especially when your body looks so heavenly full, he just doesn't want to risk anything. Especially in your later months. Last thing he wants to do is induce an early labor. But he's more than willing to devote his hands and mouth to satisfy every inch of you that he can. Worshipping you with adoring kisses and soft touches from head to toe. He's happy to please you, and doesn't expect anything in return in your state. (Of course, you do anyway.)
Familial genetics is one heck of a thing. Aphelio's eyes are blown wide at an image screen that shows two babies growing side-by-side. When it's conclusive you'd be having identical twin boys, he almost collapses in front of the ultrasound technician. So not one—but two—surprise gifts waited for him at the end of the third-trimester. And if they would be anything like him, their house would be a pranking death trap to all who entered. No one would be safe, except for mom.
░꒱♡‿ִ₊˚→ EZREAL
When you show Ezreal your pregnancy result, he looks at it with complete shock. He's locked in silence, which is never a good thing for someone as talkative as him. You almost have second thoughts about revealing the news until he bounces to you and gathers you in his arms. Eyes brimming with tears of absolute joy.
"No way—No way! Are you telling me I'm going to be a dad? Babe, for real. Is that what these two lines mean? Are you kidding me? This is the happiest freakin' day of my life!"
Ezreal has always been a fan of surprises, and this big news was no exception. Everywhere he went, no matter the conversation, he'd just casually state he was becoming a father. Didn't matter the person or group setting. Family. Friends. The neighbor; his neighbor next to him. The young teen delivering packages to his door. The grandmother and her toy-poodle waiting in line at the convenience store. If anyone was around him, he was boasting about you and the now expected bundle of joy.
Ezreal tries his bestest to help you around the house. He's never been great at chores, but he's a happy little helper eager to listen and please. You tell him exactly what you need from him, and he'll do it with a smile on his face. Anything that keeps your stress levels low, he wants to be the one you rely on to ease your burden.
Ezreal can't lie and say he understands everything about pregnancy and what you're going through. It all seems to go right over his head. The only thing he seems to get is your morning sickness, because he's literally feeling it too. Seeing you nauseous gets his own sympathetic response going. So while he's trying to comfort you, holding your hair as you hover over the toilet, he's also cradling the nearby trash bucket for himself. (How romantic!)
When your stomach grows, Ezreal can spend hours and hours talking to it. He never runs out of topics. Even mentioning the most mundane parts of his everyday life. These moments are when he feels he's bonding most with his child to be. He'll pretend to tell the baby secrets that you don't even know about, and whispers out loud with a wink, "but don't tell your mom about that one, 'kay?"
Ezreal is literally terrified to have sex with you. And not because he doesn't find your body attractive. But he actually believes he'll poke the baby's eye out, or pop you like a water balloon. And if that ever happened, the guilt would forever destroy him. It takes a visit to the obgyn and for a professional to explain that it's perfectly safe to have sex during your pregnancy. He's hesitant at first, but after the first go around, his confidence and sex drive picks right where it left off. (He regrets not going at it like rabbits sooner.)
When you're at your routine ultrasound appointment, Ezreal can't stop the tears parading down his face, even before he knows it's a boy. Hiccuping and siffling, one hand squeezes yours tight, while the other points at the imaging. "H...He...looks just...like me." It's endearing for him to think that. When the monitor only shows splotchy and fuzzy spots of the babies butt. The copied images to take home are his favorite photos taken. Ever.
░꒱♡‿ִ₊˚→ KAYN
When you break the news to Kayn, he doesn't hesitate to pull you in by the waist, pressing your hips together. Guiding a hand to the back of your neck, in a manner that was gentle and not comparable to how he fucked you senselessly. And with all the care in the world, he takes your lips.
"Damn. You're fertile as Hell. It only took us one time after you stopped your birth-control. Honestly, it's really fuckin' hot. How about we—you know—to celebrate?"
Counter to popular belief, Kayn brought up the idea to start a family first. When you asked him the reason, he first joked around a bit, telling you how hot and sexy it would be to 'impregnate you with his seed'. But, he put aside his usual impulsivities, and explained his desire to move on to the next part of his life. He was done with the partying and drugs. Over the one night stands and dating random no-nobodies. And just wanted to have a more meaningful, family oriented life—with you.
To show he's committed to the whole idea, he takes days off from his idol schedule to go to every prenatal check-up appointment. He plucks and stuffs every pamphlet into his pockets he can find around the waiting lobby. He asks tons of questions to the obgyn, and stuffs more educational brochures in his pockets. You have to scold him when he tries to snag a small uterus replica from the exam room. Kayn defends himself, wanting it for "educational" purposes. (Rhaast just wanted it as a neat souvenir.) He settles when a medical assistant gives him a sperm shaped pen.
Kayn is another one that isn't great with house chores. (But he'll gloat and say he's mastered cleaning the dishes, at the very least.) He's generally better at being sent for errands outside the home. If you need an extra ingredient to make dinner, he'll hop on his motorcycle and get it in record time. And if you're not feeling up for cooking, he'll order pick-up from your favorite place in town. You need to send a package at the post office? He'll wait hours in line on the busiest day of the week. Whatever he can do for you, he makes sure it gets done. So you never have to worry about something once you pass the responsibility to him. Showing you he's a more than capable partner and future father.
When your baby bump starts to show, Kayn's favorite thing to do is touch it. Applying the softest pressure as he runs his hands and finger across your rounding stomach. He's always enamored whenever he feels the baby move; another reminder of how amazing you are. And he never forgets to vocalize it. "You're so goddamn beautiful, you know that?" he'll say like you've cursed him. Cradling your face and taking your mouth.
You never have to tell this man more than once to touch or have sex with you. It's part of his daily routine a this point. And definitely one of his favorite ways to bond with you. But now that you're pregnant, it's as if the sex between you two has shifted into another plane of pleasurable existence. Never getting enough of it, even moments after finishing. But on the days you're not up for it, he respects it. And doesn't mind defaulting to cuddling, before dozing off to sleep with you in his arms. (But he eagerly counts down the time for when you're in the mood again.)
Kayn tries not to show to much of his softer-side; he rather be the one to have his shoulder wet than yours. But at your ultrasound appointment, once it's confirmed you're having a girl, his whole punk 'fuck only the hot police' persona collapses. You notice him clear his throat, and quickly swipe a knuckle at the corner of his eyes. He masks this dent of composure by huffing a laugh, "Guess I'm, uh...going to be kicking the crap out of a lot of asses later."

Aita for never making white ttrpg characters?
Title is a little weird, but I play a lot of ttrpgs with friends. I (M19) am white, so is all but one girl in our ttrpg group (F23), she’s Puerto Rican.
Anyways, all the games we play are rpgs based in the real world, whether they be urban fantasy or horror, they’re never in fantasy worlds. I like to explore different cultures, researching them and designing accurate characters for these games. I made a Bangladeshi girl for a MASKS: New Generations game who wanted to be the first desi superhero in America and was attending a superhero boarding school in upstate New York, I made half Iraqi/half Black boy in a homebrew power by the apocalypse game who was raised by his Chinese step-mother and was adopted into a giant extended family that took place in Brooklyn NYC, I made a black camp counselor for a Sleepaway oneshot, and I made a Mexican/Cajun boy for a Monsterhearts game taking place in south Louisiana.
For every character, I took my time and did days of research into backgrounds, cultures, and potential sensitivity issues. The last thing I want is to misrepresent a culture. The Puerto Rican girl in our group, let’s call her “Mary”, has never had a problem with my characters, but I’ve gotten comments from other players that it’s weird that I never play any white characters. I’ve made a white character twice; one for a Ten Candles game who was a 50 year old vet (and I miss him everyday, easily one of my favorite one-off characters because of his intense hatred of the Dallas Cowboys), and one for a homebrew 80’s slasher game who somehow because the first jock to be a final girl (He was too pure for this world, can’t wait to play his reincarnation in an ALENS game)
Our forever GM hasn’t ever had an issue with my characters, she even brings a giant variety of NPCs from all over to her games and makes the whole experience so much fun. The few times she’s made characters, they’ve always had great chemistry with mine and I’ve always had a good time
But, even with Mary’s and the GM’s approval, I still feel off about the comments of the other players. I love my characters, and the research I do for them helps me as a writer as that’s my profession atm. It seems like every time I propose a new character who isn’t white, I get asked “so what part of the world are they from now?” or “aren’t you German? Are you scared of doing a German character?” or other questions like that
I don’t play ttrpgs to insert myself into different fantasies, I play ttrpgs to explore new characters and new settings through different experiences. I don’t want to be labeled racist, but I understand if I’m coming off that way. If I’m voted the asshole, I’ll reflect and learn why. Commenters, deffo tell me how I can be better.
Anyways, AITA?
TL:DR, I’m white, I make primarily POC characters in ttrpgs, my group is annoyed and makes passive aggressive comments each time I do so. Aita for not making more white characters?

mkay so I have 2 Warhammer ideas? requests? sticking in my head that I can't decide on one so I'll throw both out there and you can pick one (or neither since I already threw a request at ya lol) to chew on. also a lot of my lore knowledge comes from the wiki and lore vids so sorry if I get things wrong.
first, if I'm remembering right you've said that the blood angels get a smidge yandere over Sanguinius' partner. so I'm thinking, how the hell would they act towards them after ol Sangy gets murderized by Horus? what about the black rage? would they recognize them? maybe her being present around a raging blood angel somehow makes them even more feral, desperate to protect them from "Horus". or maybe it helps mellow them out, can't decide which I like better lol. also what if she's pregnant or has had Sanguinius' kid? idk just poor grieving widow surrounded by these also grieving giants who mean well but are kinda unhinged lol.
OR maybe some thoughts/ headcanons for your blorbo Sevatar lol. I don't know much about atm but reading the little thing you made of him made me think he's like one of those boys who picks on the girl he likes but heaven forbid someone else tries to pick on them.

[ 𝕸𝖔𝖔𝖉𝖞𝕸𝖎𝖘𝖙𝖞'𝖘 𝕸𝖆𝖘𝖙𝖊𝖗𝖑𝖎𝖘𝖙 | 𝕬𝖔3 ]
Author's Note: I know you said do one, but I'ma do both. Keep an eye out for the Sevatar one soon. I'm not going to pass up a chance to write about not only my crazy husband Sevatar, but also my yandere vamp boys. I really like both ideas of Sangy's lover either mellowing them out or making it worse. I chose that it's made worse in this snippet however. There's other yandere tendencies I could get into, but I decided to primarily do black rage stuff here. I hope you enjoy.
Summary: Guilliman visits the lover of Sanguinius for the first time since the Heresy reached it's murderous apex.
Relationships: Sanguinius/Fem!Reader (no pronouns just the title 'legion mother')
Warnings: Major Character Death technically, Sanguinius haunts the plot because that's what he do, Increasingly yandere Blood Angels

It will have been the first time since the Siege that Guilliman has laid eyes on the Legion Mother of the Blood Angels.
He boarded the Red Tear with a small gathering of Ultramarines, though when he reaches the entrance of the room he's due to meet you in, he turns to his lieutenant and speaks.
"Stay out here."
The Lieutenant instantly begins to put up resistance, standing up even more rigid than he already had. His helmet is off, hanging on is belt and showing slight disbelief on his face.
"But My Lord, I-" Guilliman cuts him off.
"I am not going to bring a small army of Astartes to speak to a widow in mourning." He takes a breath and calms himself. "If I have need of you, you will know."
The marine quiets, and then the Primarch enters the room. The door closes right behind him, and two Blood Angels part for him; They had clearly been guarding the interior of the entrance. In the middle of the large room is you- in front of a massive table of maps and parchments, separating you and him.
"This is a surprise, Primarch Guilliman." You look up at him from across the room as he steps closer. This room was designed with Astartes and Primarchs in mind, so his height fits quite comfortably.
"Do you have need of the Blood Angels?"
You speak proper and polite, but not cold; It's a behavior that reminds him of Sanguinius, and for a moment he wonders if the Primarch had ever prepared you had you needed to ever command his legion.
Guilliman notices a well armored captain at your immediate left, and a few other Blood Angels standing guard in the room. More than he would've put in a room this size, though he thinks that perhaps it hadn't been your idea, judging by the captain's face. He looks across at you.
You look terribly, horribly lost. A young woman with her lover dead, thrust into a leading mantel of a legion in mourning. Belarius is serving as the Chapter Master of the Blood Angels now, but even he still looks to you as if you're an extension of Sanguinius. Something more.
He doesn't envy your position. For once he might see himself almost more fortunate than you; As despite circumstances, he has the genes of his creation assisting him, you do not; You were not make for the role cast upon you.
The Blood Angels standing guard are tense- unbelievably so. Guilliman suspects if he made even a somewhat fast movement, they'd have their bolters all pointed his way.
The weight of Sanguinius' death has weighed heavy on you all. All of you live in mourning. That drive in them now channels fully to making sure their Primarch's beloved stays alive.
"I wished to give you my condolences before you return to Baal."
You smile at him, weak, before it fades a bit as you loose yourself in thought. Then, you turn to your men.
"Leave us alone for a moment, if you will." The captain at your side speaks up. You shush him before he has a chance to say much of anything on the matter, and Guilliman suspects that this isn't the first time. You've clearly been growing frustrated at their obsessiveness already; You wish to mourn in peace, but this is how the Blood Angels have decided to.
"It will only be for a moment. I am sure nothing will happen in the ten minutes I would like to have a conversation without eight other pairs of ears listening." He can hear the strain of irritation and sleep deprivation in your voice. He moves to take his final strides closer and come fully up to the table that stands between you.
One step away however, he stops.
In the corner of Guilliman's eye, he notices in the back of the room that one Blood Angel turns rigid. With how tense his neck and jaw is it's like he's gritting his teeth into dust. He makes a move closer, his hand slipping down the barrel of his bolter towards the trigger-
Guilliman can't see a thing but rage in his eyes.
His own hand twitches in preparation, but the marine's partner in guard roughly grabs his pauldron. He whispers something the Primarch can't hear. As they all move to leave, it almost looks like he's dragging him out. Guilliman notices you watching the scene with a particular look on your face. Like you've seen it before, and you're unsurprised but displeased to see it again.
When they're all out of the room, his posture relaxes ever so slightly. As much as it can in his armor, at least.
"Thank you for visiting, Guilliman, but it wasn't needed. I'm sure you have many other duties to attend to." You smile, but it's forced. He's familiar with the gesture.
"The Ultramarines are always occupied. However I still wish you a safe journey." The smile on your face becomes a bit more sincere.
"Thank you. And I'll be sure to think of the Ultramarines have I any need of assistance." Guilliman has had nothing but respect for the Blood Angels, and a request of yours would be one he would consider.
"Very well. Do take care of yourself."
Guilliman wants to say something about Sanguinius, but he can't bring himself to. instead he gives you a nod, and turns away to leave. He does so silent other than the sound of his footfall, and you're left alone in the room. But only for a moment. Your captain that was here previously enters not long after he leaves, standing in front of you. Rubbing your tired eyes, you look up at him.
"How is he?"
You say in reference to the Blood Angel who'd snarled and almost attacked Guilliman moments ago. The captain shakes his head.
"Not well. He is just barely holding onto his sanity. He'll be in Death Company post haste." You sigh.
"Did any of the Ultramarines see?" Much to your relief, the captain once again shakes his head.
"No. We barely got him out of earshot before he started yelling about saving Primarch Sanguinius and you from the Arch Traitor."
Arch Traitor. How quickly everyone has begun refusing to even utter Horus' name.
You nod to the captain in thanks for his quick reactions in the matter, your face tired. Sleep has been a rarity; You feel sick, and mourning isn't an emotion that welcomes rest.
And no one can know about the Rage, or the Thirst. You suppose that's your duty now. You just hope you can hide it as well as Sanguinius had.

hi! <3
can you possibly do wammy boys with a s/o who is under stress from exams? maybe self projecting rn HAHA but i hope it's not too much trouble ^^
Tumblr media
that’s me atm too so i’ll gladly write this one out (instead of studying for my own exams) thank u for the rq <3
this for all the people doing exams rn💪

wammy boys with s/o under stress from exams ❦
l lawliet
-he’s literally the greatest detective in the world and a general supergenius so he’ll most likely help you study at first. i mean all the wammy boys are super smart so they’d probably all do this but yeah
-he helps you study because he primarily recognises things that are practically important. by this i mean he would help you study and put his brains to use, but would give you breaks and care and stuff like that afterwards. he understands the importance of you being prepared before anything and wouldn’t want you to be stressed or do bad in the exams.
-if you were overwhelmed and having a breakdown or something like that he’d be very loving and would 100% give u cuddles until you calmed. and would also probably get you tons of cake and treats <3
༺♡༻
mello
-again, would help you to study. this would be the kind of thing where if you didn’t get it he’d start getting so frustrated but in a really funny and comical way. you’d just keep laughing, unable to stay serious and he’d get so agitated LMAO
-he’d never express this out loud but he would definitely be worried in helping you study. that sounds so weird with no explanation but i mean he has an inferiority complex and even though he knows he’s extremely smart, he’s been second for so long that he might not feel good enough to help you. however, when you ace your exams thanks to his frantic tutoring he feels a little pleased with himself.
-in the situation of you becoming very overwhelmed and upset he would be a little tough but in a loving way. he’d bluntly reassure you that you’ve got this and that you will be okay in the end. he’s very good with comforting you in this kind of situation due to his past experiences in academic settings
༺♡༻
matt
-we all know that matt has a kind of sloth like existence LMAO he just likes to play video games and chill. but if you direly required help with your studies of course he’s going to help you, he was ranked third at wammy’s house, another supergenius here. even if he wasn’t helping you, he’d make sure that you were studying because he doesn’t want you to get stressed from being unprepared. but strangely at the same time i can definitely see him distracting you really badly when you’re focused, he’d get bored so easily when you were busy.
-needless to say, after you’re finished he’s dragging you to the couch, throwing an arm around you and forcing you to play video games whether you like it or not. he would express how proud he was of you if he knew you were very stressed and reward u with lots of cute stuff while you hung out. this goes for after you get your results back too, he would genuinely be so proud.
-if you got very upset he would be very sweet in comforting you. typical stuff, would reassure you that you’re doing amazing and that you’ll be fine in the end. lots of affection
༺♡༻
near
-very very patient when helping you study. he’d obviously understand whatever it was very quickly and if you didn’t get it he’d take the time to explain it thoroughly and be very persistent but not in a pushy way at all. very soft and nice about things, he wouldn’t want to make you feel inadequate since he genuinely believes in you.
-i can very easily imagine his little signature near smile once you get your results back and he finds out you did great. you know the lil :]
-if you were overwhelmed, he’d talk you through it logically, but by this point he’s learned to be sensitive with your feelings and not be too unemotional. he’ll explain that you’ve prepared and done everything you can, and whatever result you get will be amazing seeing as you genuinely tried. he reassures that he will be proud of you no matter what, and that you should be proud of yourself

since you have confession/breakup scene brainrot atm, have you pondered over the little Freudian slip Aziraphale has when replying to Crowley saying he’d said no to a promotion in Hell: “Well of course you said no. You’re the bad guys.” Because I’ve not stopped thinking about that!!!
Ugh I KNOW it's insane!!
The way he says it gets me, like he assumes it's incredibly obvious and confused why Crowley puts hell and heaven on equal footing/why it's even of importance to mention that he said no to hell.
Meanwhile to Crowley it is clear that heaven and hell are both equally bad and it pains him that even after all this time, Aziraphale STILL hasn't fucking realized that.
Because that's part of why it is so hard for him to separate himself from heaven and from being an Angel tm, because he still thinks heaven is fundamentally good and the correct side to be on. Being an Angel is good, it must be, because he is an angel and he's. good? Right? Good at forgiveness and a kind person and helpful and. good. He does not know who he would be without that and it scares him shitless.
And then the you. You're the bad guys.
Aziraphale primarily sees himself as an angel and thus Crowley is still very much a demon to him, and he mentally shoves him into that corner of "bad guy, belongs to hell".
I can't help but think that the Metatron said something we do not get to see or implied something because the entire season Aziraphale has very much been on a good path to separating himself and Crowley from their respective sides - and Gabriel and Beelzebub pretty much rubbed it into his face, too.
Now, he suddenly reverts back to old old thought patterns, which confuses and frustrates Crowley to no end, and also fucking stings.
"You're better than that, angel."
Once again, Crowley thought he knew him, they knew each other, just to fall flat on his face and be confronted with the reality that no, no he doesn't.

Princess Ankhnespaton [sic] (June Elvidge), daughter of King Akhnaton [sic] (Howard Gaye), has a run in with a band of thieves while traveling. Prince Karmit (Malcolm McGregor) of Syria arrives, disguised as a merchant, and saves the princess. The princess becomes enamored with Karmit and invites him back to the royal residence in Thebes.
While visiting the royal gardens, Karmit encounters a dancer, Arvia (Carmel Myers). He is instantly smitten. The princess is furious that Karmit has rebuffed her for a mere dancer.
Meanwhile, tension between those loyal to the king and those loyal to the old gods erupt when the seasonal flooding of the Nile river doesn’t occur. The princess finds in this situation an opportunity to get her revenge on Arvia.
The princess decrees that Arvia will be offered as a human sacrifice to the god Sobek, in order that the Nile will rise as expected. Arvia is adorned with a poisoned amulet to knock her out while she is fed to the crocodiles.
In an unexpected turn of events, the high priest Pasheri (Sam De Grasse) discovers that the intended sacrifice is his own daughter. Pasheri sneaks into the chamber where Arvia is to be sacrificed and saves her at the last moment.
With Pasheri’s aid, Karmit whisks Arvia away. As the Nile rises, the new couple sail away to Karmit’s kingdom to live happily ever after.
The princess goes on to marry Prince Tutankhamen (Bertram Grassby). And, after the death of her father Prince Tut will become King Tut.
Additional sequence(s) featured in the film (but I’m not sure where they fit in the continuity):
The Temple of Amun-Re is also depicted in the film.

Points of Interest:
While many contemporary reviewers of The Dancer of the Nile (DotN) didn’t mark it as an especially good film, props were given for the artistic effects achieved by Director Earle. Earle and his brother, Ferdinand Pinney Earle, were both pioneers of the era in special effects.
Ferdinand was a painter who contributed matte paintings and art titles to many films of the 1910s and 1920s. While William was primarily a director, both brothers ambitiously created films that were on the cutting edge in regard to techniques of incorporating matte paintings with live actors/studio-shot footage.
For William, it was DotN, and for Ferdinand it was A Lover’s Oath (1920/1925, presumed lost save for a few fragments), which was an adaptation of Omar Khayyam’s Rubaiyat. (ATM, I’m planning on doing the next installment of this series on this film!)
(Explanatory note: One technique at use here involves double exposure. Part of the frame is obscured while filming, leaving the obscured part of the film unexposed. The film is then rewound, with the exposed part of the film obscured, to film another element. The final result is, hopefully, a cohesive sequence.
Another technique is shooting through painted glass, which, if painted and lit correctly, results in the painting and the scene occurring behind it appearing as a singular space.
For example, a fully painted environment with live actors moving across the scene. In DotN, there is at least one scene where a live actress ascends a set of stairs, which is a painting. These techniques require an amazing amount of precision, but when done right they can be really dazzling. The double-exposure matting technique has persisted through most of film history, albeit rarely at the scale the Earle brothers were using it!
Below is an illustration of how a moving version of matte photography works from a 1926 issue of Photoplay, followed by some stills from DotN that used the multiple-exposure technique.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have a few posts coming up that go into more detail on how special effects were executed in films of the 1920s!)
William P.S. Earle’s focus on the artistic elements without much regard for story or characterization may have left many critics cold, but DotN did prove to be a lasting attraction, running in theatres around the world for years following its release.  DotN was produced hot on the heels of the discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb in 1922 in Luxor, which launched a new wave of Egyptomania. On one hand, Earle was cashing in on a trend, but on the other, he took the opportunity offered by assured profitability to experiment. In addition to the special effects discussed above, Earle attempted to capture as much period accuracy as possible in the painted settings, props, and costumes. Balancing historical accuracy with perceived “authenticity” in period art is exceedingly difficult—Earle seemingly had mixed success. However, one contemporary review in the magazine Art and Archaeology by Dudley S. Corlett (also the film’s technical advisor) is highly complementary of DotN’s attention to historical and artistic detail. [You can find the review in the transcription section!]
After Earle had more or less finished DotN, F.B.O. bought “Tut-ankh-amen” for distribution. F.B.O. financed reshoots that shifted the narrative away from Tut and towards Arvia, the dancer—hence the title change. I guess F.B.O. believed that cashing in on the trend of movies about dancers would be more lucrative than cashing in on Tut-mania!

i was thinking about the art tracy did of all of the lackadaisy characters as different dog/canine species and i thought about doing the same thing but with birds. bc i like birds...
i want to draw this eventually but art block is killing me rn
Tumblr media
Rocky Rickaby - Blue Jay
I've had this AU in mind for a while now and Rocky was probably the one that took the longest for me to settle on a decision for- the blue feathers integrate the blue in his design from his eyes and suit, he keeps his stripes, and the white and black on his face align well with his Anthro design (i could also see the black stripes above the beak curving further up to make his eyebrows idk)
Tumblr media
Freckle McMurray - European Robin
I have really mixed feelings on a european robin for him but it's the closest thing to his fur pattern I could find and it's also soft and cute and fluffy. It works
Tumblr media
Ivy Pepper - Gray Catbird
I could've gone with practically any gray bird for Ivy since her design is so simple but...they're called CATbirds!!! And they meow!!!! I had to
Tumblr media
Mordecai Heller - Pied Butcherbird
The only little tweak I'd make is specifically making him a pied butcherbird with luecism so that you could add in the additional white markings on his face (his eyebrows, undereyes and maybe a bit around the beak). I also think it's funny that they're called butcherbirds and his surname means butcher
Tumblr media
Nico Savoy - Harpy Eagle
On top of the flat, ovular face and the light gray feathers on the head + the dark gray feathers on the top of the head all lining up with his anthro design, harpy eagles are FUCKING HUGE which just makes it make more sense to me in my mind. They're massive it's crazy
Tumblr media
Serafine Savoy - Secretary Bird
It's perfect. The white and black feathers matching her fur and even the red markings around the eye?? Spot on. It speaks for itself
Tumblr media
Mitzi May - Mourning Dove
Not sure how to explain my thought process with this other than...she's mourning Atlas. So she's a mourning dove. And the colors kinda match
Tumblr media
Viktor Vasko - Red-Shouldered Hawk
I was torn between a red shouldered hawk and a red tailed hawk but red shouldered hawks are more primarily orange and they also have the black markings on the face that match Viktor (especially the ones around his snout)
Also not pictured here bc I got lazy but Atlas is a great horned owl, Wick is a mallard duck and Lacy is a swan :> thats all i have atm

i would like to hear more about halsin's family, but especially han and ari, if you would be so kind
Tumblr media
Oh, I can absolutely talk about Han and Ari - they are giving me the ring around in my brain atm
Overview: Ari (Arikathan) and Han (Sehaneth) are my versions of Halsin's parents that he mentions in game. I am going off solely two pieces of information, which is Halsin looks like his father, and that Halsin's late mother knew him very well. Everything else completely made up in my mind (where it is real to me).
Sehaneth (often shortened to just "Sehan")
Direct Meaning: "sehan" = "to travel, journey, walk" + "-eth" = "eternal". Interpretive meaning then: "he who eternally wanders", which speaks to his travelling. Also derived from "seh", which means "soft" - something his father called him...not in a good way. Oft referred to as his childname "Han" by Halsin's mother, as they had known each other as "youngins", and spent 300+ years in each other's direct orbit.
Born: 761 DR (Originated from what is now called the Misty Forest, not called so at the time, but he had little to say regarding his initial childhood there - they left rather abruptly due to a raid that also took the life of his older sister)
Died: 1162 DR (Age 401) (COD: Unclear cause, but had something to do with his heart giving out from what the healer was able to discern. Patrol found him collapsed just on the outskirts of their meager borders.)
Sehan was taller and stockier than most of their fellows (likely due to his primarily wild elven heritage, his mother having been a wild elf and his father half*), pushing above the taller side of 193 - 195 cm, with broader shoulders and heavier set as he aged. That, plus the relatively solemn and serious expression constantly on his face (Ari called it "mountain misted") gave him the reputation of being intimidating at first glance (and he could be intimidating, if he wanted to, and in fact would use it to his advantage if he was in a situation that called for it). But he was mild mannered and nimble, more content to stay out of things and observe, and kept more prominently to himself and his own head.
He was a very quiet man, to the point that one may assume he was unintelligent or off-putting, but neither of those things were the case. He just had little desire to use his words beyond what was necessary, and much preferred to think everything out before solidifying anything out in the open, and it usually took him a moment (but he was still incredibly communicative to those who knew him, in many different ways; Halsin claims they could often tell exactly how he felt about something in the way he would hum at it - and if they didn't catch that, it was often given away by his mother's reaction because she would bloody well tell him when he was underreacting or his response was not matching her energy; the two of them had whole conversations where Ari would talk and Han would listen and move his head and somehow end up with a mutually satisfactory conclusion between them)
This tendency towards silence also may have stemmed from him having been treated poorly emotionally and verbally by his own father (generational gaps and all that), which affected him psychologically a lot more than he let on, feeling consistently like he wasn't good enough to uphold really...anything he had (their relationship was strained to the point where Quevanae's death was almost a relief because he felt like he could *breathe* for the first time, which he told Ari he felt horrible for even entertaining). Ergo, he was one of those individuals who refused to treat his children in the same way he had been treated - Halsin recalls perhaps once when he ever raised his voice at any of them.
Jack of many trades, master of none - the gumption and tendency for one track mindedness was very evident in Han, and likely where it stems from in Halsin. When he put his mind to something, it *stayed* on that something until he accomplished it. He loved having problems to solve and muddle out, even if it was outside of his area of expertise, and would often remember things he saw or heard. When Ari's hands started getting too stiff to hold her tanning and textile tools properly, Han managed to make them more ergonomic for her in spite of having no idea of how to go about that. He made each of his children their lithathel ("baby" hunting bows) in spite of only having baseline knowledge of bow construction from an apprenticeship under a bowyer he held for a few years, and ended up customizing each of them so they were better suited to their abilities. Very "give me twenty minutes and a knife and I'll figure out how to fix this". Unsolved little problems like that would often distract him. If he disappeared for hours at a time and emerged with a cheeky smile on his face, he'd cracked something.
Sehan's main desire in life was - as his name suggested - to be out and about exploring the world; blessed with a constant feeling of displacement in his skin, he spent most of his days scouting when he was younger, learning a lot of the land by mostly memory, and then later going out to trade for and bring things back to their community. Sometimes, he was gone for weeks or months at a time. He would bring interesting things he happened upon back for his family, insisting that he didn't have anything at all in his pockets when they asked. Ari would often respond to his asking whether she wanted anything specific with something completely off-coloured and out of the blue, stop to think a moment, fake sigh, and conclude with: "But if you cannot find that, I suppose just you is enough." (He used to bring her back things like white sugar and lace and replacements for the little silver rings she wore in her ears)
Arikathan
Direct Meaning: "ari" = "silver" (also dually means "springtime", and derived from the descriptors given grizzly bears as "great silver bears" or ari're - this is coincidental) + "kathan" = branch. Literally "silverbranch", or "silverbough". One of the surnames Halsin has been known to use is "Va'e Iarikathan" which translates directly to "son of Silverbranch" as an honourific of his mother. Oft referred to as "Ari" by Halsin's father, for similar reasons as above, but she tolerates few other people continuing to use the childname aside from him.
Born: 762 DR (High Forest)
Died: 1178 DR (Age 416) (COD: They say sometimes there is a threshold for grief, and Ari reached it. After a handful of consecutive losses, Ari also fell ill, though Halsin to this day retains her illness was not so much of the body as it was of the spirit)
Ari was born in a small group of wood elves that were primarily nomadic, eventually settling tentatively near the southern borders of the High Forest on the bank of the Unicorn Run when she was in her teens; they were no more than a couple hundred strong at the peak of population, often moving from place to place to avoid being detected and avoid overtaxing the land with their survival.
Also on the taller side, standing somewhere between 183 - 187 cm, most likely due to the human heritage inherited from her maternal grandparents. She would joke this put her closer in line with the trees, and, therefore, she should be respected as such (...she'd half joke, anyway).
Started as a young elf as a hunter, and while skilled, grew bored of it very quickly. A healer primarily by trade, though focused far less on magical elements of healing and more on herbal and holistic elements. She was a figurative wizard at adjusting techniques and updating recipes to better fit situations, and was often experimenting with new ways to treat ailments. Like Han, she loved puzzles and things to figure out, but for her it was less of a matter of proving she was able to do something or a love language; it was a desire for efficiency and effectiveness. The last gift she left her son was a thin, small book with some of the guides she had written and gathered from her teachings - some of which were so old that the plants she listed were unavailable to access generally anymore - which she had started prepping as a young woman and kept in case there was someone to give it to down the line. Ari's mother was a druid, and while she dabbled slightly in the druidic arts, she never quite got the hang of it.
She also was a bit of a lore master, in that she was more often the one of the two parents who passed stories down to her younger children, regardless of how she felt about the situation or the individual whom she was passing stories about. As they had been displaced a few times, she deemed it important to keep the familial and community lore alive and passed down; she encouraged questions and interpretation, and had a knack for breaking complex topics into smaller, digestible pieces.
Ari was a fierce woman ("like thunderstorms in summer" Han would say); brusque and to the point, very outwardly affectionate and passionate towards the people she loved (sometimes to the point where she would get emotional *for* them), but reserved around people she didn't know or trust. She would stay dreadfully calm during most situations, in the way a lake is calm while churning dangerously underneath, and did not hesitate around telling others the truth if the truth was needed. Ari was also dreadfully intuitive, to the point where you quite literally could not hide things from her - she would figure it out, somehow.
The copper coloured tinge of Halsin's hair came from her, which in turn came from her father, though Ari's lacked the brown undertones. She wore it long and braided, and it always smelled just faintly of chamomile. She also had dimples that were more prominent on her right cheek because her smile was crooked.
General/Both (And some familial history that you didn't ask for)
Sehan and his father made their way to Ari's neck of the woods (figuratively and literally) when Han and she were in their early twenties; he and his father were fleeing a raid that had cleared out another section of the High Forest. They didn't mean to stumble on the clan, but it lucked out that way, and though his father was not the most trustful of others, they ended up staying (for longer than initially planned which turned into the rest of one of their lives).
Ari took one look at the slightly spacey looking elf with dirt all over his face and branches tangled in his curly dark hair and nodded to herself, decisive, and made a beeline. Ari liked people, and she particularly liked figuring people out, and Han was a new mystery with intriguing layers, and gave her the instant feeling that he would be important to her down the line (and she was right! For 300+ years he was her primary partner and all of her children were fathered by him). It helped that she also looked at him and decided yeah smash for sure, and he just happened to be very amendable to that fact
They didn't actually get together beyond casual fling here and there until later in their mid 100s -they had become very good friends in the time between their meeting and that point, and realized they just...liked being in each other's company. A lot, actually. The two of them got along and balanced each other out. And suddenly he was in her house every day (they had separate residences very close to one another, but Han spent most of his time *at* home at Ari's)
While not in its vicinity (the High Forest is like the size of a small continent),  they were both old enough to remember the collapse of Eaerlann, which sent their settlement deeper into its hiding as word of most of the northern High Forest fell to various ruin reached the southern portion, and more of the elves started fleeing.**
They had their first baby in 1049 DR (Han was 288 and Ari 287) which is a surprisingly late time for elves to be in the frame of mind to conceive, but it just...wasn't really happening for them for the longest time. Semi-amusing in hindsight, considering their next pregnancy near twenty six years later resulted in twins, which is not an incredibly common thing with elves - though on a less than amusing angle, considering what happened, perhaps it also was an omen of some kind. Their final child was born when the two of them were nearly 400 years old.
After their eldest son died, and as the High Forest continued to fall in its exceedingly more dangerous conflict that was spreading, Han and Ari made the difficult decision (along with several other elves on advice from the elders and the druid who had been advising their council for the last century) to gather their remaining children (well, Halsin - the twins were - by all technicality - not children at the time, but they came along anyway) and leave for somewhere new. Neither were pleased by this development, for various reasons, but Han had mentioned several places he'd seen on his travels that would be good to at least stop in.
Neither of Halsin's grandparents (Ari's parents) were up to the trip, so they remained to live the remainder of their days in the ancestral homelands; while this was part of the reason that Halsin (and Ari) very adamantly *did not* want to leave (along with leaving his little friends behind, one of which was who we now know as Francesca, whose family stayed on), he also kept insisting that he did not want to go because there was one friend in particular he couldn't leave; he had promised he would help them and they'd stay together - Han and Ari were concerned because he started talking more about this "friend" at length after his older brother died, and they thought perhaps he was making things up to cope with his grieving (see: I have a theory regarding Thaniel and how he ended up taking up in the Reithwin realm which is both convoluted and very simple, but that's something different - not to worry, Halsin didn't break his promise and child!fey don't follow rules). They ended up in the then more sparesely, but unpopulated wooded area nearby what is now Reithwin Town, called "relthwin" by the elves who settled there before the more predominantly human settlement took over a century or two later (they avoided the Wood of the Sharp Teeth and the Reaching Woods like the plague though).
(Side note: Halsin has been back to the High Forest several times since; once specifically to take his father and mother's (and siblings' eventually) ashes back, as they so often talked about wishing to return and how the lack of density in the woods was something the two of them missed in their new home, a few times as a druid to visit the Shadow Top Cathedral and visiting with Francesca and the druid councils there, on his way back from Menzoberranzan because he was *not* about to travel back through the Underdark, etc.)
I've said as much before, but Han and Ari were nice people - very hospitable and opened then home to everyone - HOWEVER, they both could (and would) rip you apart with their bare hands if they felt so inclined, and they both had very firm lines they wouldn't cross. Neither of them took kindly to any sort of threat, upon their person, their peace, or their children. They were both relatively neutral on most conflicts that did not concern their interest, but if they *were* involved, you knew they were and you should likely be afraid.
Han and Ari spoke different elven dialects, which slowly morphed into one household dialect that combined elements of both, so Halsin's elvish is very reminiscent of what he heard. Tonally, it's all over the place, sounding more like laughter than song.
One of the things the two of them took up when they re-settled was beekeeping, which was a traditional Wild Elven practice that Han hadn't really done in centuries, but that gumption won out. That became part of their stock when he would head out as a trader.
*The FR canon is dicey depending on time of lore development on whether elven subraces actually mix genetically or are just Either/Or/Dominant Species Genes offspring; because I do what I want, and since they made subspecies in the first place, and I find the trope/lore to be inherently illogical for many reasons, especially in humanoid species, I'm pulling on multiple strings of homebrew shenanigans. The games don't follow the lore to a T either, so...
**FR canon is also dicey about what was going on in the High Forest anywhere other than the Northern part between 714 - 1200s DR, as the main conflict and complete devastation occurred mostly in that section of the forest (and most canon was established in the 1300s) - the remaining elves of the High Forest didn't fully leave the forest until the 1300s, coming back late 1300s
