20 questions for writers
I was tagged by @pia-writes-things (ty!!! ❤️)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
46!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
703,271. Which is, um, a lot.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Good Girls (formerly), HPI (formerly), and l'Art du Crime. There's also a random bit for les Combattantes, and one GG fic has a shared universe with Graceland. I'm very mono-fandom lol.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Take A Dip
It's All Coming Back To Me
It Hurts When I See You Struggle
Love And War
We're Living In A Powder Keg And Giving Off Sparks
Unsurprisingly, these are all GG fics, although I don't think my kudos ranking is accurate because most of these were impacted by the great kudos-bombing gate from 2020 so it's hard to tell what's actually my most kudo-ed fic.
5. Do you respond to comments?
Absolutely. My secret goal is to keep the conversation going back and forth for the longest possible time because I love the opportunity for a good ramble about my writing 😈
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I wanna say Ad vitam æternam (L'art du crime)? I mean, it's literally an MCD fic, so, not that merry... Also if I remember correctly, Always lost in the sea (HPI) doesn't end on a very hopeful note either.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I don't know? All of them? None? I generally tend to go for happy open endings with that extra bit of bittersweet so I really couldn't tell. But hey, maybe the ending to that thing I'm currently writing actually is the happiest of it all, because oh boy, things do get cheesy at some point 🥺
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No at all! Unless you count that one person who commented on several chapters of whichever long GG fic I wrote just to point blank hate on Beth character lol
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Of course I do (in English only), I like my porn toxic and desperate and angsty with just the right amount of power play and mutual hatred. Basically, I write hatefuck 😂
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Not really, no... I've tried a couple of times, but I think I'm better at/more interested in mimicking existing interactions than inventing a dynamic between characters who never met canonically (and also, boy the kind of SETUP you need to justify some characters crossing paths... it's just too much work). I'm more of a cameo/easter egg kind of writer, so once in a while I'll allow a character from another fandom to pop up in a fic and say hi, but it's really a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of encounter.
I guess my craziest attempt would be that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend / Good Girls crossover that I never finished though, cause like, super different moods?
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of but I don't really attempt to know
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! By myself lol. I once posted a fic in two languages before acknowledging it was a hell of an additional work 😭
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Kinda? We never finished nor even posted it but at some point we shared a quite unhinged co-writing story with @whiskeyjack and @00gangfriend00 and it was a lot of fun 🥰
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
You... you guys have that? You don't just live by your Ship of the Moment just to instantly forget about it and hop on the Next Ship when it shows up? I'm sorry but I don't think I have one of those.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
What a trap question!!! 😂
It's All Coming Back To Me, obviously. Look, I really really want to finish it, not even for me at this point, but for the 120-something people who subscribed to it, for the faithful readers who still leave me comments every now and then hoping for closure. I know how it ends. I have it partially written. I just don't seem to know how to write for Good Girls anymore, and getting my head back into it feels like such an insurmountable load of work, I just- I'm trying, ok?
But like, if someone's interested in helping, or even writing that ending based on my notes (and getting full and proper credits for it obvi), just let me know! I'm really open to it 🥲
16. What are your writing strengths?
Probably dialogues? I've been told many times that my dialogues feel very close to the original, and the thing is, I write about TV shows and I have a very good ear so I think I catch quite easily the actors' voices and tones and mannerisms in my head, so every time I write down a line, I play it several times in my mind with the character's voice to determine whether they would say it like that or not. Looks like it's not working so bad.
Also I *think* I'm not too bad at stream-of-consciousness inner monologues. At least it's one of my favourite things to write so there's that.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Action scenes (that includes sex lol). Filling the gaps between the important parts. Descriptions. Setting up the scene.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Like, featuring two different languages inside the same fic, or writing in different languages? I'm not sure I've ever really written the first one? I guess I find it a bit clunky, occasionally I've written scenes that included a character whose native language wasn't the one of the fic, and I'd give them a line or two if that's relevant to the plot (for instance, if characters are lost somewhere in another country, I can add a line/dialogue in another language for comedic effect. Or it can be a way for a character to whisper something for themselves), but the logistics are quite nightmarish, you gotta either assume your audience knows the second language, or translate the lines in the author's note, or have another character translate it in a way that doesn't sound too articifial, that's really really tedious haha
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Good Girls.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
You think I know that? Out of FOURTY-SIX??? Lol. Get out.

Alien Blues - Vundabar
I Follow Rivers - Lykke Li
The Wanderer - Eden Ahbez

Hoki Mai - Aotearoa Maori Chorale
Cause a Rockslide - Badly Drawn Boy
New Constellations - Ryn Weaver
Genres include picturesque new wave, raising-the-stakes competition songs, and some music from New Zealand natives
This game is still…not my favorite, BUT I do appreciate the way it tried to incorporate previous game story lines into a kind of larger late game arc culminating in Sonny Joon but unfortunately the reality tv angle didnt really work as well as it needed to and Sonny didnt quite live up to expectations and it still feels a but muddled to me but alas. Also was this game based on a book at all? If i remember correctly the New Zealand location is a contest winner chosen location which obviously pushed the game in that direction but was it based on anything else or primarily just the lore that has been built in the rest of the series?

Song of Sway Lake Interview with Ari Gold
A RobertSheehanOwnsMyAss exclusive!
Over a year ago I had the pleasure of exchanging some messages with Ari Gold and he agreed to a short Q&A. I just had some questions about the story and the production, in part because I'm very familiar with the area in which the film was shot, but also, it's a movie that makes you think! It has taken me forever, in part because I went on hiatus shortly afterward, but I've finally gotten around to transcribing the answers from a voice recording. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
Q: I'm super curious about filming locations because I actually spend a lot of time in the area. On instagram you tag a lot of your production photos as "Lake George." Did you do any filming there? (side note: Lake George is a really popular tourist destination in upstate NY and a lot of people come up from NYC to weekend there.)
A: Thank you for watching! We always say “Lake George” to catch more attention - to get the word out about the movie! 95% was Blue Mountain Lake except the bar scene which was on Long Lake.
Q: What is the significance of Nikolai's necklace? It looks like a chain with a wedding ring on it. He was wearing it early on before he started stealing things from the house.
A: It is a necklace with a wedding ring on it. If I remember correctly, we just liked the look of it. I don't know that we had anything more than that.
Tumblr media
Q: Nikolai is a vivacious extrovert juxtaposed with quiet and withdrawn Ollie. Ollie seems unimpressed (if not repulsed) by his family history where Nikolai covets it, yet both men come from some degree of dysfunction. Do you see them as opposite sides of the same coin?
A: I do see Nik and Ollie as opposite sides of the same coin. Basically both of them are stuck in the past; Ollie wants to erase his past and Nikolai wants to steal his past, but both of them have the same problem in that both of them can't seem to live in the present.
Q: Was that a real functioning Chris Craft you got to film with? (Side note, these are really cool antique boats and there aren't many of them left.)
Tumblr media
A: Yes! It was, we borrowed it from a family across the lake and Mr. Culkin crashed it into a rock. Lightly! He bumped into a rock which caused a pain in the ass repair.
Q: Did you hike up Blue Mountain and visit the fire tower?
A: Yes, we visited the fire tower and I've hiked up Castle Rock dozens of times, yeah.
Q: Did Robert Sheehan stick to his script at all or did he ad-lib a lot of his lines?
A: He did not ad-lib, but he would try things in advance for me to approve. Actually wait...he did ad-lib! One of my favorite lines that he did ad-lib was: "Cupid was a naked baby. Make me feel uncomfortable." And also: "Operation silence is when I put my penis in your mouth." Both of those were ad-libbed and were amazing.
Q: Does Mary Beth Peil actually sparkle or is that just how she looks onscreen?
A: Yeah she kind of does sparkle. And we gave her a sparkly dress!
Thanks for reading! If you haven't seen it yet, check out The Song of Sway Lake wherever you buy or rent movies. You can also watch it free on Tubi with ads.

You never think the worlds gonna end like people tell you it could.
“Just you wait.” I remember my father telling me.
“Then again,” I would think to myself,
“The old man’s dead.”
“What really could go wrong?”
That’s when I met her. Amythyst Wishlann.
We looked completely identical.
Save, for our hair, and Eyes.
Her hair was brown and wavy, a messy, wild, Bobbed style that relied mostly on semi-regular showers and the wind to style.
Mine, was black, and sleek. I always have kept it to the sharp, shoulder length, a small bit of hair gel to give it a semi-natural look to it.
Still, when we first met, we declared together that we were sisters, that the universe sent us each other for a reason, unknown and ignored by us.
We both loved it. Nearly everyone did, actually, her boyfriend, Hjälte, thought it was uncanny.
“Wouldn’t it be funny if she dated my twin?” He asked Amy, jokingly.
I thought, with how nice everyone treated me, that is fit right in.
Of course, looking back on it, wasn’t it all just… too perfect?
You meet a girl who looks just like you by random chance, and her friends just… take you in? There has to be some problems, right?
Right?
And you’d be correct, actually.
There was a problem, and her name was Byth.
Like “Beth” but spelt differently, because god forbid you be like anyone else, right?
(Even weirder, her full name, Bethany, was spelt correctly.)
She was Amy’s “best friend” at the time. The relationship was just… awful. Amy always had a tendency to look for the best in people, and Byth was an example of that.
I absolutely love Amy for it, and I wouldn’t be here if not for her policy to love everyone until she couldn’t anymore,
But, still-God, what a bitch.
Of course, I threatened her comfy little role as the one to come to with advice, and could potentially take away all her power and control over her “sister in law.”
I loved messing with Byth. But, I guess, when Byth had enough, she had enough.
Amy was the collateral damage of Byth’s rage.
She sliced the friendship in two, stabbing Amy in the back, literally.
And I guess, here I am. In the lobby of the ER nervously waiting with Amy’s now Husband, and her other close friends, even Byth’s soon-to-be ex husband, writing this, getting my thoughts down.
It’s 11:36 pm, November 6th, and I really just wanna be where I was when we were younger, waiting for Amy to get back with snacks in her bedroom, reflecting Byth’s glares with a smirk and the occasional reapplication of lipstick.
But my world is close to shattering.
.
.
.
Do you think Anyone would be mad if I wore a pair of Amy’s shoes to her funeral? I know my favorite Louboutins would do perfectly well but I’m afraid people would think I was trying too show off or something.

Alzheimer's as a Villanelle
I visit the theme of memory often in my writing, and since medical events are written into the plotlines of my books from time to time, I have had the unsettling experience of reliving a scene I’ve written. Perspective can also shift with time, our stage in life, or our position in a relationship. In Ion, book six of The Republic of Dreams, during a scene intended to evoke memories and the emotions they carry, Sparrow observes to Meredith, “I have learned that much of life is spent revisiting the same events, over and over, from different viewpoints.”
A few years ago, I traveled north to Ohio and Michigan, and had an opportunity to visit with Ms. Elizabeth Papps, my AP English Literature teacher from high school. It had been four decades, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that she was still around (she has since passed) but saddened to learn she had suffered a stroke. Her body was a pencil-thin version of the person she used to be. Her memory, and her attention span, likewise, were thin slivers of what they used to be, making conversation challenging. Challenging, but not impossible.
I explored things she might remember from teaching, from childhood, from travel, and especially on the topic of food. Food memories are rich from a sensory standpoint, and I guessed correctly that childhood memories of her favorite foods would be a good topic. She grew up in a Greek household, and the savory and sweet dishes are the kinds of things that have unique tastes and textures and fill a home with inviting aromas: avgolemono (lemon-chicken soup), pastitsio (a lasagna-like dish with a bechamel sauce and cinnamon), kourabiethes (sugar cookies that melt in your mouth), baklava (flaky pastry with honey and cinnamon). Food led to places she had been, people she had known, and things she had done.
The doorway to memory opened and closed repeatedly. She remembered traveling to Greece, Israel, and Egypt in detail, but could not remember it again twenty minutes later. She would correct me on the pronunciation of a Greek word, and forget that word ten minutes later. She wanted to be called Bess, because that is what her friends always called her. Friends she couldn’t remember.
Her favorite book to teach was A Tale of Two Cities, because she liked how the places and storylines paralleled and contrasted with each other. Her favorite play to teach was Hamlet, because, similarly, he stood in two worlds: his outward public life, and his tortured inner life. She remembered only a few teachers, but remembered more when prompted. She remembered Patricia Osborne fondly, a former journalist who taught English in an adjacent classroom for many years. She remembered only two students from all her years of teaching: Beth Perkins and Jim Calhoun. She didn’t remember me (not surprising - even without the stroke, it’s been forty years).
Her own questions and observations were simple, and recurring. Sometimes they repeated exactly, and sometimes with variations. More than anything, it reminded me of the structure of a villanelle. A villanelle is a poem with a very simple rhyme scheme in which two of the lines become an alternating refrain, as in a pair of comments or questions repeated multiple times, sometimes with slight changes to evolve their meaning.
A conversation with someone who has suffered memory loss can be that way. The same is true with some individuals on the autism spectrum. Maybe there is a certain reinforcement, or reassurance in the repeated refrain. The variations along the way can add depth to the conversation, as can approaching things from different directions. I am not an expert on these disorders in any way, but in a very human sense, she was happy to have company and was very engaged in the conversation. Did she remember my visit the next day? I don’t know. I suspect not.
I think the concept of a villanelle prepares us for the fact that the same ideas, subjects, and specific questions will repeat themselves, and that with patience, we can still communicate on some level. It may be a recursive conversation, and the content may be more in emotions than in words, but in truth, in most one-to-one personal conversations, isn’t that the most important part?
If you have not experienced this scene, odds are that you will, some day. If you write it or imagine it beforehand, don’t be surprised to find that it turns out differently. Be relieved, in fact. There is a certain eeriness when fiction is too close to reality. In the field of artificial intelligence (another recurring theme in The Republic of Dreams) there is a similar concept referred to as the Uncanny Valley. For the Alzheimer’s patient, I wonder which is the greater frustration - the thing that seems unknown (“Do I know you?”), or the thing that seems familiar, but just not quite right? (“Why do you look so old?”)
-- Steve
⌘ Alzheimer’s as a Villanelle
Time slips away, as all things do. Drop by drop, and then a torrent. Who am I? Do I know you? I thought I told you we were through? Or was that another country, another lover? Time slips away, as all things do. I was brilliant once, and beautiful too, But memories, like mirrors, are blurry now. Who am I? Do I know you? I was married one time, or maybe two, I raised three wild children, or was it four? Time slips away, as all things do. I had a home once, shiny and new, Built on a lake, or was it the seashore? Who am I? Do I know you? Time chases everyone, even you. Why do you look so old? Who was I? Did I know you? Time runs away, as all things do. --Steve Spanoudis

Mario Kart
Summary - Y/N decides to engage her brothers and Castiel into Mario Kart, not realizing what she was getting herself into.
Pairings - Dean Winchester x Sister!Reader, Sam Winchester x Sister!Reader, Jack Kline x Platonic!Winchester!Reader, Castiel x Winchester!Reader
Word Count - 1,911 words
"Let's get it!" Y/N squeals, claiming her spot on the middle of the couch. She was practically bouncing up and down, waiting impatiently for everyone to join her. The Dean Cave had brightened considerably since she had added a few redecorations. While Dean initially denied her, she had forced him to allow her to put up LED lights, several polaroids from her camera(they were mostly of herself smiling widely at the camera while Sam and Dean looked mildly annoyed with fake smiles. There was also a real funny one where Sam was unconscious on a hunt and Y/N decided to pose beside him), as well as posters from their favorite bands. Not to mention the added dock to the TV stand to hold her Nintendo Switch that Sam had bought her for her previous birthday.
She supposed he regretted it now, since she was forcing him to play a game he'd never even heard of.
He entered the room first, holding a big bowl of popcorn and a soda. Dean followed close behind, Little Debbie packages hanging from his mouth since his arms were occupied with pillows from their bedrooms and a pack of beers for himself. Jack was the only one to come empty handed. He happily took the spot beside Y/N, waving merrily as Castiel also appeared with two sodas(both of them for Beth because he was just so considerate), taking the spot on her other side.
"I'll give this an hour before we switch to movie night, Y/N," Dean warned as he occupied his armchair, which was to the left of the couch. She had discovered this old thing at a garage sale. It had been a rather stressful day because Dean had refused to strap it to Baby and they had to hound what little friends they had for a truck. Since most of their friends were dead, Y/N had hot wired one outside of a bar and returned it before the drunk redneck inside could notice it had even left. She was sure the dent in the bed was there before they put the couch on it. Sam had not been happy about that.
Sam took his own armchair, which was to the right of the couch.
"What is it, again?" he asked curiously.
"Is the only thing in the media you've ever heard Facebook? You've seriously never heard of Mario Kart?" Y/N asked, happily accepting one of the sodas from Castiel. "Dad really did a number on us. I was introduced to this through Charlie." She got up to grab the number of controllers necessary for four. Jack was eager to try the game, but he was always open to trying new things, something Y/N could appreciate.
After connecting them to the Switch, she handed them out to her brothers along with Jack before returning to her spot on the couch between the angel and nephilim.
"If I remember correctly from what you've told me, it's a racing game, right?" Castiel asked.
"Exactly, except with a few quirks to make it interesting. Like, um...I could throw a shell and hit one of them and vice versa. Or a banana peel. I'll give them a trial run before we actually get into it. Are you sure you don't want to try it, Cas?"
Castiel shook his head. "I have seen how you play with Charlie, and I don't want to be on the receiving end of your anger. And I rather like watching you in your element."
Y/N smiled, blushing, before playfully pushing him.
"I need to get drunk to stomach this," Dean said, offended as he popped one of the beers open and took a gulp. "Keep the PDA to a minimum guys, you've got a kid next to you. Alright, what buttons do I push to hit Sam?"
"What the hell?" Sam scoffed.
"What?"
"We haven't even started and you're gunnin' for me?"
"Uh, yeah!"
"Alright, alright! First we gotta pick our player," Y/N mediated, pressing the buttons to get them to the screen full of Mario players. "I already got mine." She moved her icon until it landed on Wendy, before selecting her. "Obviously the best character, hands down."
The three boys maneuvered their icons over different characters, for some reason taking it a little too seriously on who they would choose. Sam selected his first.
"Luigi?" Dean scoffed.
"You got a problem?" Sam asked.
"No, but...why Luigi?"
"Who cares, I just chose him."
"You have to have a reason, man." Dean shook his head, before selecting his own.
"Why'd you choose Bowser, then?"
"Because he's a badass. And he'd beat the holy hell out of Luigi if the games lost their PG rating," Dean shrugged.
Jack hummed thoughtfully, still scrolling. "I choose him!"
He selected Toad.
"Why him, Jack?" she asked.
"I like his hat."
Y/N snorted, but it was a valid enough answer. Once everyone was ready, she selected the settings for the game and then decided to use the time to explain to them how the controls worked and anything else they were curious about. After a few trial races, they were ready for the real thing. Castiel was sitting patiently, his hands on his lap.
"You assholes are going down," Dean declared, bringing his remote closer to him.
"So much for being appropriate in front of the kid," Y/N sneered, but she was just as ready.
She set the game to go through ten races with a random select for the roads.
And with that, they were off.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" Dean yelled, nearly jumping to his feet. His first empty beer bottle slide across the floor from his rapid movement. "I DIDN'T EVEN TOUCH IT! I DIDN'T GO NEAR THE GODDAMN PEEL!"
"That might've been mine," Sam stated, smugly. "But Bowser also takes up half the road, so avoiding it was probably impossible anyway."
Dean squinted. "You callin' me fat, Sammy?"
Sam shrugged. "Luigi's doing just fine."
Y/N hid her smile as she hit her own item, snatching that smile right from Sam's face.
"Why did you do that?" he asked, incredulous, the red shell sending Luigi off the edge of the map.
"You got in my way!" Y/N sang.
It only seemed to get worse from there. What was supposed to be an hour of playing turned into four with the bowl of popcorn thrown across the room at Dean when he had decided to hit Sam three times with three separate shells before snagging first place and doing a lewd dance as a way to declare his victory. Y/N's hair had bristled up, becoming bushier almost as though it were alive. Her right eye was twitching, and her hands were cramping by now.
Jack, however, was having a good time. He has gotten last place the entire time, but he was still having fun, and that's what truly mattered.
Castiel, on the other hand, seemed to be on the verge of a panic attack, not knowing whose side he should take because all three Winchester siblings were completely out of their minds, including Y/N.
Finally, it was the last race. Everyone's nerves were shot. Sam's hair seemed even more raggedy than Y/N's, and his shirt was stained with soda because Dean decided to take vengeance by chucking his pillow at him when Sam was taking a big gulp. They had to pause the game for several minutes while Sam fought for his life coughing and wheezing because the soda went down the wrong pipe.
"I'm afraid I must at least attempt to deter you guys from participating in another race. There aren't any weapons in the Dean Cave, but I'm sure you three will find a way to kill each other," Castiel said, worried. "Jack, are you okay?"
Jack nodded enthusiastically. "I'm having fun!"
"I will let it be known if I lose, someone is dying tonight. I will call Billie to fix it, but someone has to die tonight if I lose," Y/N threatened.
"Good luck with that, I'm kicking all of your asses, and you can kiss mine when it crosses the finish line," Dean said.
"I don't even care if I win, as long as you guys lose. And I'll make sure it happens." Sam jeered.
With that, the race began. Aside from Jack and Castiel, everyone was bloodthirsty. Surely no matter who won, someone was gonna be pissed off. Castiel was making a mental note to grab Jack as soon as possible and escort him out of the room while the siblings brawled.
"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Y/N shouted, jumping to her feet. "WHO DID IT! WHO DID IT?"
"I did!" Sam happily announced, moving to and fro with the turn of his controller, as though he were in the game himself.
"I'm gonna get you, Sam," Y/N snarled, pressing hard on the buttons, trying her best to catch up to her brother, collecting any items she came across, but none of them were good enough, so she kept using them without thinking until she heard Dean curse and also jump to his feet.
"THAT WAS ME, JACKASS!" he yelled, completely distraught. "I didn't even do anything this time!"
"You probably deserved it anyway!" Sam shrugged, continuing to maneuver through the AIs to get to the front.
By that time, Dean and Y/N had caught up, and with all they had, they used their items to completely screw each other over up until every kart had passed them. In the end, they were the bottom three with Sam first, Y/N second, and Dean in dead last. And for a moment there after, nobody said anything. They were completely beside themselves in utter shock at what just occurred.
"What just happened?" Y/N asked, deflating considerably.
"We lost..." Sam mumbled.
"Screw you guys, I lost overall!" Dean scoffed.
"I won!" Jack suddenly cheered, leaping to his feet and jumping up and down. "I won!"
"You what?" Y/N asked, shocked as her eyes trailed to the top. Sure enough, Toad was in first place. "You're kidding!"
"I can't believe I won!" Jack said, smiling as he high-fived a proud Castiel.
"I want a rematch," Dean commanded, sitting back down and retrieving his controller.
"Yeah, me, too!" Sam agreed.
"I'm down!" Y/N eagerly agreed, about to grab hers when Castiel snatched it. He went around the room, taking up all the controllers.
"Given that it's five in the morning, and just a couple moments ago you three were ready to quite literally rip each other's throats out, I'm going to recommend everyone get up and get to bed instead," he instructed curtly. "I think we should postpone a future night of games indefinitely, at least for a little while until you three can learn to control yourselves."
"What-but-you can't-" Y/N sputtered.
"Quite literally, I can shut off whatever is necessary so you can never play the game again with just a snap of my fingers," Castiel warned. "Shower and get some sleep. Jody already told us she needed to discuss something at noon tomorrow, and it would be rude if we were tardy. C'mon, let's go!"
With a grumble, everyone got up and cleaned their mess, ignoring each other vehemently as they walked out. Except for Jack; he was practically skipping.
There was another good thing about tonight that he knew about. He was the one that triggered the lightning item that really stumped the three siblings and put them at the bottom three.

I 've recently found your writing and I'm so glad I did!! You're incredible, and I absolutely love the way you write Arthur in an established relationship. There's so much fic about the excitement and will-they-wont-they of a new relationship, but it's so sweet to see a dynamic with Arthur and someone who just knows him so well. New love is fun and world shifting, but there's nothing like the old comfort of a love that it backed by time <3 Idk if you still take requests but consider this one!
A/N: I wasn’t too sure if this was what you meant or not, but I did an established relationship with Arthur. This is just fluffy morning softness with him. If this isn’t what you meant and I completely got it wrong, please let me know! I’ll definitely get to work on a new one! It won’t hurt my feelings at all if I did interpret it the wrong way and you would like another one! (I love writing for Arthur he makes me happy)
***
The sun was just beginning to shine through the thick treetops that surrounded Horseshoe Overlook. Birds chirped in the trees and a few squirrels scurried around just to your left in the bushes.
You sat at a table with a cup of coffee and one of your favorite books in hand. It was early in the morning, far too early for most of the camp to be up but a few of the older members such as Mrs. Grimshaw and Herr Strauss were awake.
Over the years, you’d grown accustomed to waking up bright and early with Arthur Morgan. You liked to see him off on his busy days when Dutch or Hosea had him running half away across the state for a job. And on the days where he wasn’t needed immediately, you enjoyed sitting with him for breakfast or coffee.
“Good morning, Y/N.” Hosea greeted you as he passed by your table to get to the pot of coffee.
“Morning, Hosea.” You gave him a smile.
He migrated back to his tent, choosing to sit at the table nearest to the tent while he looked over a map. You silently wondered if whatever it was he was planning would involve Arthur.
The sudden feeling of something big behind you almost made you jump. But the hands on your shoulders let you know exactly who it was. He rubbed circles into your shoulders with his thumbs, leaning down to kiss the top of your head.
“Mmhm. Your hair smells good.” Arthur hummed.
You tilted your head back to look at him, a smile coming to your lips.
“Good morning, handsome.”
“Good mornin’, pumpkin.” He dipped his head down to kiss between your brows. “How’s the coffee today?”
Arthur began to reach for your cup of coffee sitting on the table.
“You won’t like that.” You tried to warn him, but he was already taking a drink of the hot beverage.
He cringed, placing the cup back on the table and bringing the back of his hand to his mouth.
“Now you know very well that you wouldn’t like that, Arthur.” You looked up at him. “I put sugar in mine.”
“Yeah, yeah. I don’t like sugar.” He muttered, pulling a chair around the table so he could sit closer to you. “I was hopin’ after all these years you’d come to your senses.”
“And drink that bitter shit you drink? No thank you.” You giggled. “You want me to get you a cup?”
“I’ll get one here in a second.” Arthur shook his head, looking around camp. “Who’s awake?”
“Strauss and Susan are up and chatting over by the cliff.” You nodded towards the north end of camp. “Hosea’s over there at the table and earlier I saw Dutch come out of his tent for a minute but I think he must’ve gone back to sleep. It’s been pretty still all morning.”
Arthur nodded.
“You didn’t sleep much last night.” He spoke quietly, leaning forward on his elbows. This put him closer to you.
“Tossed and turned a lot.” You closed your book and picked up your coffee.
“I know. I could feel the bed move every time you threw yourself around.” He chuckled a little. “What kept you up?”
You shook your head, not wanting to bother him with your worries.
He reached over to take your coffee from you, gently prying it out of your hands.
“Come on, pumpkin. What was it?”
“You know how I get.” You shrugged your shoulders. “When Dutch mentions his ideas and plans at night, I don’t sleep. Don’t think neither of us really do but I…. I just…. Since Blackwater, I haven’t been able to sleep.”
Arthur’s brows were furrowed together softly as he looked at you.
“I’m worried about us, Arthur.” You admitted.
He stayed silent, lips pressed together in a line.
“I got a bad feelin’ in my stomach. Blackwater was bad, Arthur.”
He nodded a little and reached over to take one of your hands away from your coffee. He brushed his thumb over your knuckles, eyes focusing on a scar that ran across the back of your hand.
“Blackwater went sour, but sometimes that happens, pumpkin. Sometimes jobs don’t go how we planned. You remember that job we did back in Montana in ‘82?”
A small smile crept on to your lips.
“That was ages ago.”
“Sure feels like it.” Arthur chuckled. “We found a rancher to steal from.”
“If I remember correctly, I found a rancher to steal it from. You messed it up.” You poked his chest, your tone teasing.
“I know. I know.” Arthur muttered, adjusting his hat. “Just ‘cause you had to flirt with the old bastard didn’t mean I was gonna sit by and let him about you like you were some saloon girl.”
You spent a week flirting your way into the pocket of a rich rancher in Montana while Arthur played an up and coming rancher from out of town. On the night that you were supposed to rob the mark, Arthur went out for drinks with the rancher and you while you accompanied the rancher as his date. Soon, the rancher and his friends were drunk and their gentlemanly charm had vanished. The second they started practically harassing you, Arthur dropped the act and start throwing his fists.
“You walked out of there with a broken nose” You reached over to cup his face, brushing your thumb along the bridge of his nose.
“And somehow, you managed to get that scar on the back of your hand and another on your arm.” Arthur sighed. “Didn’t mean for it to happen like that, but sometimes jobs go sideways and we can’t always see it until it happens.”
“But Arthur, that was back when it was just us and Hosea and Dutch. Now we have three times that many people to worry about and look after.” You furrowed your brows together. “Dutch has got to see it ain’t all about the money. Sure some of us may not have much more time left on the clock, but we got some young people too. Jack, Tilly, Mary-Beth, Lenny, Karen, Sean, and now Kieran too…. We need to think about how what we do will affect them in the long run.”
Arthur chuckled softly, looking down for a moment.
“What are you laughin’ at, Arthur Morgan?”
“You, pumpkin. I think it’s adorable when you play mother hen.” He kissed your forehead. “Pumpkin, they’re young but they are grown ass people. They can make their own decisions.”
“Just like you did when you were their age?” You raised your brows. “Look where it’s gotten you, Mr. Morgan. Sitting in a bum camp living like someone who ain’t got nothin’ to live for.”
“And look who’s sittin’ right beside me in this bum camp.” He tapped the outsides of your thighs. You laughed softly, knowing you walked straight into that one.
“I’m sittin’ here ‘cause I followed some fool with blue eyes and a heart of gold all the way from out west” You muttered. “Ended up findin’ the love of my life too.”
Arthur gazed at you for a few moments, his chest warming up with your words.
“Anyways, I wouldn’t change any of the choices that I made when I was their age.” He leaned back in his chair, rubbing his nose and crossing his arms.
“Oh yeah?” You stood up to get him a cup of coffee. “Why not?”
“‘Cause I found the biggest pain in my ass in the whole damn country when I was their age.” His eyes followed you.
You handed him the cup of coffee, warning him that it was still pretty warm. Before you could move back to your seat, his hand took yours, keeping you by his chair.
“My pumpkin….” His eyes focused on that scar on the back of your hand again. “She’s been with me through thick and thin, and even when I haven’t been so kind to her.”
“We all make mistakes, Arthur.” You reminded him. You knew he was talking about the few times you two had broken up and he started a relationship with Mary Linton. “Only thing that matters is you came back to me.”
You took his hat off of his head so you could kiss his forehead.
“Love you, pumpkin.” He spoke quietly, letting your hand go so you could return to your seat.
“Love you more, Arthur.” You gave him a smile, replacing his hat on his head.
You sat down and picked up your cup of coffee to take a sip.
Arthur’s eyes flickered over to Dutch’s tent. Molly was pinning the lapels back, meaning that the two were waking up.
“We’re gonna be just fine, pumpkin.” Arthur told you, nodding his head a little.
“I know. We always are. Just doesn’t come easy sometimes.”

June 15: Orphan Black 1x01
Started my rewatch of Orphan Black today.
I was obsessed with this show when it came out. I think I binged the first season over the course of one weekend (in law school...one of a couple reasons why I stopped binging) and I kept up with several seasons but I remember kind of limping along with S4, and I’m about 95% sure I never watched S5.
I’ve been meaning to do a rewatch for a while but keep putting it off, so it feels exciting to get back into it.
I do not remember a lot of the details. I remember the general gist, especially of S1, and I remember certain random plot points and moments and scenes, but it still felt very much like watching for the first time.
This season is a really good example of how to use POV to make a story like 10x more dramatic. Knowing (or at least semi-remembering) what I know now, it all makes sense and there’s very little really weird going on. I mean, other than clones. But Sarah knows nothing, and we only know what Sarah knows at first. She doesn’t know about the clones, but she also doesn’t know, for example, that Beth is a cop. So in addition to the mysteries of who’s calling the pink phone, why Beth has so much money, etc., there are moments like Art pulling her over and her thinking she’s being arrested--simply because she doesn’t know that Art is her colleague/partner..
I truly love Sarah so much. Allison was the most entertaining clone but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be Sarah. She is such a great hero. Insanely smart. Quick thinking. An obvious redemption journey ahead of her. A rough past but a believable desire to do better, even if her plans are vague or themselves a little suspicious. When she drank from the bottle of soup to make herself sick and get out of a situation she couldn’t fake, I was like oh yeah, that’s my girl. Watching her run this con is supremely entertaining and exciting.
I love that Art followed her and then broke into her car. Oh, Arthur.
Felix is, of course, great, and I remembered that, but I forgot how much I loved his apartment too. Also the little flirtation with the coroner was weirdly cute? It’s scenes like that that gave the show a lot of its entertainment value.
I’m so damn attracted to Sarah, I just paid attention to her during that Paul scene lol. I never liked Paul. Boring city. I wonder if I’ll like him more this time.
Some stuff I forgot: that the other clones aren’t in this ep; that Katja shows up at the end but dies immediately, also whatever the hell was going on with that shooting.
I also really liked Beth. I like that we never got to know her, but we spend so much time learning about her directly. We never see her head-on, only in bits of fragmented mirror images. That she was both the ringleader of the clone group--collecting evidence, the one they looked up to if I remember correctly--and also the most damaged by everything she was finding out, to the point where she ultimately couldn’t live with it all anymore, was really compelling to me. The combination of strength and brokenness. Like... she was Sarah first, and Sarah really did become her. I don’t remember the specifics but I seem to recall some retconning in S4 that I was not so keen on...
She has great style also. Both Sarah’s and Beth’s outfits are my style.
The show is just incredibly entertaining, from its costumes and sets, to its pacing, to its mystery-enhancing structure, and its characters, and its humor, and its set pieces like Sarah transforming into Beth... I’m going to enjoy at least the beginning of this rewatch.
Oh and speaking of humor, I was especially fond of “How did you do on your last charity run?” / “Oh, I don’t know actually” and all of Vic’s eulogy (”She was a person you wanted to hang... out with; “It’s all based on facts.”)
Anyway, I am looking forward to ep 2... I want to see the rest of the clones again!

JULY PICKS!
Tumblr media
You heard me correctly, I said JULY! Whoosh, this year is going by fast-but not in a good way if you know what I mean. This will be my last monthly wrap up where I am strictly staying home in quarantine as this upcoming week I’m heading back to work in person. Wish me luck!
We had quite the range this month from newly released, reality, musical and then some favorites from last month that I’ve continued watching. Without further ado here we go....
There’s going to be PLENTY of SPOILERS this go round. ESPECIALLY with my first pick of Stargirl. You’ve been warned!!!
Tumblr media
DC’S STARGIRL
I need to talk about 1x10 or I’m going to burst!!! As stated above there will be A LOT of SPOILERS IN THIS POST!! So scroll down to the next picture if you don’t want it to be spoiled.
You’ve been warned...again.
IT CANNOT END LIKE THAT!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Henry! Wow! 1) Epic fighting 2) The backstory and how he wasn’t going to give up on his dad AND THEN how he wouldn’t give into his dad. 3) HE DIED RATHER THAN JOIN HIS SIDE OR PRETEND (which I honestly felt was going to happen). His character arc and I can’t believe it’s over!!! 4) His speech at the end: *weeping.* I knew Brainwave was going to say he killed his mother. It just felt like the build up. Brainwave Jr. would have been a GREAT ADDITION TO THE JSA! AND OMG THE WAY THE REST OF THEM FOUGHT FOR HIM! I loved how they framed it so you could still see them in the back when Henry spoke to his father. Super heartbreaking. Man, it feels like a lot of people have been killed off this first season (or am I just still thinking about Joey?)
Side note: Check out the Instagram Live between father and son Brainwave on Stargirl’s CW page. Jake Austin Walker did an AWESOME interview in his take over.
This was one of the strongest episodes overall and definitely one of my favorites so far. I agree with many others that while it is SOO GOOD and I want to rewatch it again, I don’t know if I can emotionally yet. I can’t remember the last time I felt that way about a show.
Some other thoughts this episode: WAY TO GO BARBARA! Way to record them to translate later (such an awesome app btw, how do I get it?). I’m glad her and Pat came more to an understanding because I love them especially with that glimpse into how they met. Jordan’s parents give me the creeps, like the couple from The Visit vibes. I feel like Mike’s got to find out ASAP, especially because he’s spent time in the garage. Something’s got to show him the truth; because I’m really feeling he figures it out rather than being told. Very curious to see what his reaction will be. SOLOMON GRUNDY. Thank God Beth talked Rick down. She really is like Chuck in being the voice of reason. She did really well in the cafeteria too. While I still don’t believe Starman is Courtney’s dad, how cute was it when she put together her and Henry were cousins? Speaking of Court’s dad, who else didn’t feel like Starman was her dad until they saw that upcoming promo? I don’t know who that impostor is but he is not her dad. Something’s fishy.
Loving this show. So happy it’s renewed for a second season!!

THE 100
From a show I can’t get enough of to one whose final season is a disappointment. I’m not going to spend too much time talking about The 100 because I feel I’ll just be repeating myself from previous posts. However, I did want to include it because I haven’t spoken much about the previous 2 episodes that I wound up watching back to back and I didn’t overly dislike them.
As many have complained, when you have a final season you shouldn’t introduce SO MANY new characters and just push aside your originals (or the ones who are left). You also shouldn’t include so many confusing plots that are making it look like were the main points overall (like this many world concept was around since the first grounders) and playing with time in so many episodes is hard to keep up with too. Having so many people separated makes it difficult to remember what just happened to this specific group because I haven’t seen them in forever. ANYWAY, I did promise some positives. I didn’t except to like 7x08 because of it being a flashback episode with brand new people that was just going to feel like a potential spin-off pilot. Well...I actually really enjoyed it and the concept that the bunker was used before One Crew. The characters were easy to like and it was cool seeing Allie again (and this time not as the villain). While it felt forced including the orb (is that what it’s called? If not that’s what I’m calling it), but I liked how all the other pieces fit together (ex: the flame, the grounders’ language). Honestly, I surprise myself to say this, but I’d watch another episode. For 7x09, I liked being on Bardo and watching Octavia, Echo, Diyoza and Hope slowly get “brainwashed” I mean trained. We all knew it wouldn’t work for Hope and if I was them I would rather be on Sky Ring than Bardo (but then I guess I’d go crazy, so...) I enjoy the Octavia and Levitt relationship and would love them to work out, but if this show taught you anything it’s to be skeptical. I also want to shift to the Primes plot, just to showcase John Murphy for a second. THAT MAN! What a character development he’s had on this show. From the first season where I was like come on Murphy to now me awaiting his scenes. From cockroach to someone who won’t view himself as a hero. So good and something that is fantastic about this final season. They might have forgotten about other characters, but they’re doing it right by Murphy.
Well, that was more than I was expecting. ;)

THE CIRCLE
It feels like I haven’t watched a lot of reality TV this year, which makes sense because of our quarantine situation (but then again I’m watching World of Dance, but that’s a different because it’s more of a competition/dance show. I’ll stop rambling). The Circle is a reality ‘game’ show that could be easily completed during quarantine and social distancing because the contestants do not see each other in person. They each have an apartment in this complex and only communicate with each other on a social media platform called the Circle. The objective is to become the most popular and an influencer who gets power over who stays and who goes in the competition. There’s some side contests throughout, but most of the show is just people chatting through an insta messenger and trying to learn as much as they can. Alliances are formed and cat fishes try to thrive all for the grand prize of $100,000. (Wow, that’s a lot!) It is SUPER addicting and very funny. Having a voice-over narrator really makes it even funnier because she says what we’re all thinking. Just about every episode a contestant leaves and then is able to meet one other person in their apartment. It’s been cool seeing their reactions as oftentimes it’s someone they did not expect AT ALL. I can’t wait to finish it. If you’re a fan of Big Brother than this is definitely for you. Looks like there will be a second season, which I am excited about.

THE BABYSITTERS CLUB
Jumping from one Netflix show to another. Released on Netflix on July 3rd, I tried not to binge it all in one day because then it would be over (and we still don’t know if there will be a second season yet). This is definitely my feel good watch for July. If you want something that’s a quick watch and just wholesome and fun to escape our current world than this is for you. I always felt so happy after watching and couldn’t wait to watch another. While I was familiar with the franchise--the 90s movie and of course the books (although I was more of a Babysitter Little Sister fan, so I was very excited to see Karen), you don’t have to have any knowledge of the Babysitters Club to enjoy this show. I was hooked just about right away by this new series shown by me watching the first three episodes back to back. I really like how they set up each episode with one girl as the main focus (just like in the books) where she takes over the voice-over narration. Great representation and made modern to fit in with our current times. The first example that comes to mind is when Mary Ann babysits Bailey who is transgender. I liked how Bailey says those are her old clothes while they’re playing. It’s shown in a way that explains the situation without feeling like a lecture. It fits so naturally into the episode. And then Mary Ann’s speech at the hospital is super powerful for both Bailey and herself. This is just one example of how well represented this show is. Extremely strong cast and actresses who are the proper ages. I also love the adult casting and how they threw in a Clueless reference from Alicia Sliverstone (who plays Kristy’s Mom). As someone who is writing for this age group, I really liked hearing and seeing how authentic this show is.

FEEL THE BEAT
A Netflix original movie that has been on my list for a while that I just got around to watching. It didn’t come out too long ago. In the film, Sofia Carson’s character is a dancer who is a perfectionist. She gets on the bad side of a big NYC producer when she not only leaves her in the rain as she steals her taxi, but also knocks her, accidentally, off stage and becomes a viral video-this basically blackmails her in Broadway. This all happens within about the first 10 minutes of the film and the majority takes place back in her small home town (very Hallmark-like) in Wisconsin. While there her old dancing teacher wants her to share her Broadway wisdom with her young students. Meanwhile Carson has only been a chorus girl, so she doesn’t really have any. What draws her to helping the young girls is the chance to perform in front of a big choreographer that could get her to be the star she always dreamed of. The catch is that it’s the teacher dance in the childrens dance competition. While this might sound like a movie you’ve watched many times before, it was still worth it and a really fun watch. I think the kids really make the movie. They are adorable, funny and super talented. You feel connected with them really fast and want to see them succeed. I loved Dickie and how he joined the group. I think he was my favorite overall. I loved how inclusive the cast was here too (just like BSC) from a mixed race family, to single parents and even a student who was Deaf. It was great seeing the other actors sign to her. Carson’s character, April, can be annoying at times, but you understand it’s her character and something she needs to overcome. As I said before the plot may seem familiar, but the ending was something I didn’t see coming. Overall, wholesome, feel good and fun for the whole family. You can consider to watch while babysitting. (See what I did there??)

VIOLETTA SEASON 2
She’s back! I know last month when I included Violetta it was mainly me being excited to see the second season FINALLY streaming on Disney Plus. I had watched a few episodes (remember there’s 80 altogether, so even if I watched 20 that’s still very early on and just a dent in the season) and was still getting used to this season. Well, now I’m happy to report I am in the 40s and more than half way. For a bit I was watching many of these episodes a day, which told me that I was loving it again. Recently, I feel I need a little more of a push to watch, but it’s mainly because of certain story-lines that feel like they’re dragging. (For example: Violetta’s voice. One minute it’s fine and the next she’s like dying). For this section I have two words: LOVE TRIANGLES. And I’m not just talking about Violetta, Diego and Leon. For a bit it felt like each character had their own love triangle, which honestly I was loving. These characters have definitely developed a lot from last season, which allows this to happen. Olga was in a love triangle, which just recently got resolved. I think German is still in one because of his alter ego Jeremias. Jackie was “kind of” in one. For her it was more of a misunderstanding, which is very classic on this show. Lots more secrets have been uncovered in these episodes as well as songs! You know how excited I am for those. Overall, I think I’m still enjoying season 1 songs more (which get referenced enough in this season), but some of the season 2 ones are really growing on me. Specifically Leon’s Entre dos mundos and when he sings with Diego Euphoria in English. Also, Yo Soy Asi has been real catchy. I know Frederico will be coming back soon and I can’t wait to see him again!

HAMILTON
Like many I watched Hamilton this month-actually on the day it came out. It’s been a musical that I’ve been intrigued by, but never thought I’d get a chance to watch because of how popular and expensive it is to see on Broadway. So, I was very excited to hear I’d get the chance when it was to be released in theaters for a special event. Then because of Corona it was released to Disney Plus, which was EVEN more convenient and exciting. I really enjoyed it and watched it twice within the same week. I immediately downloaded the playlist and started singing it around the house. I do this a lot with many of the plays I see, but depending how good they are is shown by how long I listen to the soundtrack. (Some of my top ones are Bandstand, Once, Newsies and Anastasia.) Because there are so many songs in Hamilton it is taking me a little longer to know all the words, but I feel pretty confident with the first act. It was the perfect timing for this to be released on Disney Plus. Not only because it was July 3rd, but also because of the world we are living in. Lin’s diverse cast brings to life the world of 1776 and the revolutionary war (as well as the time after it), but it’s such a strong commentary on our world today. This is something I am continually noticing with historical dramas/pieces being released within the last 5-10 years. It feels like there’s more we can say in this genre than in a commentary piece. I also like all the analysis videos I’ve seen popping up, which just make it even more powerful. (Like it being Eliza’s story and her putting herself back in the narrative. That the play Hamilton is named for both her and Alexander.) I don’t know if all of what I see were intentional, but  either way well done. I hope it doesn’t leave Disney Plus soon.

1917
And lastly, 1917. I promised quite the range this month and you can see that’s definitely the case. I always enjoy watching war films and with 1917 there was so much hype (both before it came out and after) that I was interested to give it a watch. Giving the movie to my dad for father’s day felt like the perfect excuse to be able to watch it. Even though our DVD stuck in a few places (still don’t know if it was the player or the DVD itself), the film was very entertaining and I would suggest it to anyone who is a history/film buff. Taking place in WWI, we follow two British soldiers as they attempt to deliver a message about an upcoming ambush that could take countless lives. I feel that I often watch more films revolving around WWII, so it was very interesting to be immersed in the first great war. After watching I am not surprised that the film was up for so many Oscars. While cinematography is the first thing everyone discusses when it comes to this movie (and it should be because the one shot/long shot is sooo impressive and beautiful to watch. It really brings you into the scene and has a way of making you feel like you’re there too. There’s a realness to it that’s raw and new compared to other war films I’ve watched in the past), there’s so much more to this film too. First, I like how it connects back to Sam Mendes’ grandfather, so while it’s not a true story it has real facts in it. I LOVE the score and music to this film. In the scene where George Mackay runs at night through those ruined buildings I could really hear how well the music worked with the action. Because of this I made sure to listen to some of the soundtrack and now I’ve added some of the songs into my writing playlist. I have chills just thinking about it. The other point I want to bring up is the cast! While there are SO MANY big names in this film from Colin Firth to Benedict Cumberbatch, the two main characters are played by George Mackay and Dean Charles Chapman and they are the ones with the most screen time. If their chemistry and acting wasn’t so great then the movie wouldn’t be as successful as it is. Because of this I have been watching non-stop YouTube interviews of the two of them for this film.
Tumblr media
They are so well-spoken, stand-up guys and I can’t get enough of their dialogues with each other and others. (You should watch these interviews too). While familiar with Chapman’s time on Game of Thrones, I haven’t seen him in much else, so I’m excited to see what he’ll have in the future (as well as checking out his IMDB page). For Mckay, I’ve seen him before when I just watched Ophelia earlier this summer so that was my first time watching him act. After that film I was curious what else he was in, but it was only after 1917 that I started doing more research. So far, I’ve only been able to watch the short film he was in called Infinite. While only 17 minutes it was very strong and deep. I highly recommend. As I’ve shared on this page already, in another post, the more I hear him talk the more of a crush I am developing. It’s been a long time since I’ve experienced a celebrity crush this strong so soon. This quarantine has to end so I can make it to England to just casually bump into him like one does. :)

For the ask game: What if or What if reprise
ok so i’m going to interpret this two ways and answer it both ways: the song or the scene.
the song. now both songs have their individual merits, but in the end, “what if (reprise)” is, in fact, a reprise! while its overall mood is more hopeful, more positive, less...confused than “what if?”(like (eliza)beth is more sure of herself, that’s what I mean by confused), it’s much shorter! like a fourth of the length, if I remember correctly, but with most of the same elements. so if I were to pick a song to listen to right now, it’d be “what if?”. while both symbolize hope and new beginnings, “what if?” just has more length and elements which makes it a more enjoyable listen in my opinion. do keep in mind, i’m not equating length to enjoyability. however, since the reprise is similar to the original verse-wise(with less pondering over what if’s, but still), i have to choose the original.
now for the scene. i’ve explained previously how much I love the ending of if/then because of its ambiguity and circling back and overall open ending. while, objectively, “what if?” is a wonderful and solid scene, I find myself rewatching the epilogue/ “what if(reprise)” scene much more often. here’s why. “what if?” is simply the beginning of the musical. but “what if?(reprise)” being a conclusion, serves its purpose as a really satisfying one. most of my favorite musicals(like falsettos) always have an incredibly sad finale. someone dies, something horrible happens that’s irreversible, etc, etc. but not in this case! it concludes with something good! liz gets the job, beth gets an opportunity for love, and the arcs of the other characters come full circle as well! so this full-circle comingness property is the very reason why I like to watch this scene over and over again(and also i love epilogues with happy endings for all the principal characters. and the small bethverse lucas/david implication near the end of “what if?(reprise)”). “here’s how it starts / and here’s how it ends”. as a result, in the context of the scene as a whole, i’d personally pick “what if? (reprise)”.
thanks for the ask!

Have you seen the Little Women trailer? What did you think of it?
Okay, so.  THOUGHTS.
I am honestly here for an adaptation that focuses more on the adults lives of the Little Women~, in part because it’ll be easier for me to make jokes about their sex lives, but in part because that’s the drama I was there for when I read the book back in my days as an on and off homeschooled child.  Like, I remember reading Little Women so clearly because it was during one of my homeschooled years and my mom just tossed that book at me like read fucking Little Women and I was like I don’t wanna and she was like I’ll read it with you and I was like.... wanna.  And I’m really glad we read it!  On that note, reading Little Women has always seemed to me to be something that is... different if you’re a woman.  And it’s not just because that book has always fucking been portrayed as this thing that men can’t enjoy because GIRLS.
Men don’t deserve Little Women.  That being said, it’s been a long time since I read it and I’ll definitely have to re-read it before the movie comes out.
So, re: the casting.  Amy has always been my favorite, and Florence Pugh is one of my favorite up and coming actresses right now!  It’s perfect.  She’s perfect.  And God knows Saoirse is one of the most talented women acting out there, and she truly needed to bounce back from Mary Queen of Scots with something... more suitable.  Even a physical level--Florence has this sort of classical doll-like delicacy hiding steel and tbh a substantial bit of sex appeal, and Saoirse has this coltish quality that I’ve always associated with Jo.......... and I daresay you could compare to Winona Ryder, who played Jo in the 1990s adaptation.  (Quite well, I might add.)
I don’t really know much about the girl playing Beth, so I can’t comment there but I’m sure she’ll be good.  Then there’s the Emma Watson in the room.  I don’t think Emma is the worst actress ever, but she’s never really impressed me?  To be fair, Meg is probably the least difficult role to play out of the sisters.  That being said, I don’t REMEMBER Meg having these big aspirations to be an actress?  Lol...... correct me if I’m wrong.  Like, Meg wasn’t super exciting in the book but I do think it was important for one of the sisters to be kind of traditional and happy and not dead that way, with her fairly simple, straightforward romance.  If the actress thing is tacked on,  there is gonna be so much shit raised about it after everything added on to the BatB remake for Emma.
Laura Dern and Meryl can do anything, obviously that’s great.
SO.  Laurie.
Look, I have a lot of feelings about Laurie and his various relationships with the March women.  (I liked bratty Christian Bale Laurie, I don’t know if this is a controversial opinion.)  I do hope that, because this movie is being made by a woman, there isn’t this suggestion that something is lacking from Laurie and Amy’s relationship.  To me, that was a natural relationship that came together from two people who balanced each other out vs. clashing, and Amy gave him enough shit and they snarked enough to keep it spicy.  I never got people who said it was gross--Laurie had this infatuation with Jo, but he was pretty young and childish when it happened, and he made a lot more out of it than what it was.  Jo was not in love with him, and he and Amy didn’t have this massive age gap.  It MADE SENSE.  Jo and Laurie had this great push-pull and tension, but it never would have worked in the long term and that’s what is so great about the contrast between the two.  I like that the trailer had some of Laurie and Amy’s interplay and bitchy arguments.
Like, honestly, the hilarity of Laurie going to Europe and being a general fuckwit until he realizes that whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaah Amy got hot and is way too good for him and he has to actually BECOME A BETTER PERSON to be WORTHY OF HER us so underrated.  And she needs him to help her realize that following your heart to some degree is worth it?
BUT ANYWAY THE TIMOTHEE~ QUESTION.
Look.  Controversial opinion.  I find the obsession with Timothee~ to be ridiculous.  He looks, like, 12 and that’s not my shit.  He’s had some pretentious moments.  But there is a reason... I think? as to why Saoirse and Greta, two women I find very talented, are working with him again.  I do think he’s a talented actor, and though I wish Laurie was being played by someone I find hot, we can’t always get what we want, and I think he’ll be suitable for the dandy melodramatic emo drunk dude phase Laurie goes through, as well as his general melodramatic crying boy streak.
Now.  If I remember correctly, when Bale!Laurie kissed Winona!Jo in their version, I think there was this somewhat infamous shot of the spit hanging between their mouths.  The real question is: are Timothee~ and Saoirse gonna go THERE.

Ocean’s 11 ~ Cosmos Troupe 2019
Tumblr media
Ocean’s was great! I loved it so much! I thought the previous two versions were fine, but never cared for either enough to go back and watch them again. Turns out if you adore every single person in the troupe putting it on, the ensemble cast makes it a home run.
If I remember correctly, there are some noticeable differences between the Hoshigumi and Hanagumi versions. This was a slightly tweaked and polished Hanagumi version. The show does a great job of featuring a lot of people; nearly everyone gets something fun to do (it’s consequently not the best taidan for Akkii or Riku, but if it wasn’t their last I’d really say it’s good for everybody). The scenes change quickly (and flow a lot better than I remember), so even if a given person’s appearances are short they’re typically fairly frequent. I’m not terribly pleased that the prolific use of projections seems to be a continuing theme in Takarazuka, but Ocean’s actually used them WELL, and with all the hacking/security/surveillance going on, and the flashing lights and artificiality of Las Vegas, it actually makes sense.
There are three (3!) major ad lib scenes that are different every day, something I didn’t realize ahead of time having only seen the previous versions on DVD:
Tess walking in on Benedict and his lackeys trying to physically threaten the Evergreen people into handing over the rights to their non-profit and Benedict having to lie about what they were doing
Saul giving everyone a pre-caper “acting lesson” in which Susshii says something ridiculous and the rest of the eleven have to remember it and mimic her in unison
Rusty pretending to be “Dr. Johnson” to cart Saul off after the fake heart attack that serves as a distraction during the actual heist (for those who can read Japanese, one brave twitter user is keeping track of all the Dr. Johnson ad libs)
...and these made me really look forward to seeing the show again and again. I probably could have gone every day and been thoroughly entertained.
Danny Ocean is the most boring vanilla blank canvas of a character and requires the actress playing him to really bring everything herself. Fortunately, Makaze and her devastatingly attractive body could have stood in the corner in those open-necked suits without saying a word for 3 hours and I’d still have given it a 10/10. On top of that though, I thought she played him perfectly. Her sort of low-key coolness that for me has come off a bit stiff at times with some of her other top star stuff was spot on for Danny, who I fully believed was chill, aloof, and sexy enough to both pull off such an impossible robbery without a moment’s anxiety, AND stalk the woman trying to divorce him such that she was not only NOT immediately put off completely but also ultimately able to fall back in love with him. In the dream sequence that opens Act 2, when Makaze changes from serpent to prince and leaves the bouquet of flowers on Tess’s bed for her to accept whenever she’s ready, my heart clenched so bad I accidentally groaned audibly the first time I saw it. She also sang the best I’ve ever heard her sing.
Madoka is a beautiful Tess, and above all else I was THRILLED that they finally let her have such a grown up role and that she slayed it. I had absolutely no doubt that she’d slay it; she’s a fantastic actress who as far as I can tell is only battling her round little face and height difference with Makaze when it comes to getting mature roles. But they styled her flawlessly and her dresses were to die for and she looked so fantastic I hope all concerned parties got the hint that this is fine. I want to see the two of them do something sizzling hot together (although I have to admit, dude chasing after his wife who wants so badly to divorce him IS a fun dynamic that we never really get to see in Takarazuka, unless they’re doing Ocean’s).
I love Kiki more and more every time I see her, and while it’s hard not to be annoyed that she’s not a top star already, I will be so furious if they take her away from Soragumi; I absolutely love what they bring out of her. I think she and Makaze have a great dynamic together, and she was both cool and funny enough to make Rusty very enjoyable to watch. There wasn’t a single Dr. Johnson scene I saw that didn’t have me laughing out loud and wishing I had another ticket. One day I sat in B-seki with a group of students on a class trip, and one of them gasped すごい when she finished her finale-opening solo. Here’s a funny story from Makaze’s ochakai that I read on twitter: there is a duet between Danny and Rusty during which Rusty lights a cigarette, and apparently Koike wanted to modernize Ocean’s by giving him an IQOS instead. Makaze convinced him that was the worst idea ever and wants all Kiki fans to thank her personally.
MVP: Zun as Benedict. I suspect her interpretation might be polarizing once the world at large gets to see Ocean’s, but I loooooved it. Once upon a time there was a Japanese meme going around about what kind of date various prominent otokoyaku would bring you on, and Zun was pegged as a young, sweet, filthy rich kid who would reserve the entirety of Disneyland and then take you there. Her Benedict was like the evil version of that. I appreciated so much that she went a different direction than Beni and Daimon and played him as just a rich sleazy horrible asshole without the over-the-top comical bits—and she was STILL very funny, just as the straight man to everyone else’s ridiculous antics. She was so dark, so angry, and had such a scary glint in her eyes for such a cute little muffin; so impressively gross it was weird to see her smiling genuinely in the finale. And she’s a DAMN GOOD STAGE KISSER, astonishingly so for someone who’s yet to have a romantic lead outside of shinko and Bow Hall. I very much enjoyed her team as well—mostly Mitsuki Haruka as Taylor, Aishiro Moa as Beth, and Hoshizuki Rio as Charles, keeping things funny and chaotic. Kihou Kanata/Manase Mira were even hilarious as the bodyguards (Wakato Ritsu was a fine Bruiser, but IMO it’s pretty hard to beat Taso... and I felt a gaping hole where Fuuma Kakeru should have been).
Seiko could have carried this show by herself. For whatever reason—and I rewatched the Hanagumi version recently—I didn’t think Queen Diana, outside of being sassy, was as good of a role as it was (does the DVD fail to show a lot of her antics? Maybe. Was I doing a lousy job paying attention? Possibly). But no, Seiko was all over it, convincingly the biggest force in Vegas (and this cast). I am going to miss her so so so much. Akkii and Riku ended up with the more senior but less meaty roles of Frank and Basher respectively. While Frank is on the quieter side during most of the scenes with all the 11 except for his opening solo and arrest, I personally, for probably biased reasons, really enjoyed watching Akkii and Sora in the background, where Frank is very frequently trying to coerce Linus into getting over himself and just doing the thing already. I don’t know if this has been especially tough on Riku, but her eye bags have eye bags :( As much as I’m going to miss her, I hope she gets through this and takes a nice long rest. The Soragumi landscape is going to be so weird and different without these three. They come down for the parade together with Seiko in the middle and I got choked up every single time.
I’m thrilled that Sora got Linus mostly from a rank standpoint; they announced Ocean’s before Aichan’s transfer to Senka and I was positive she was going to be Livingston. The role itself kind of unfortunately emphasized how tiny and behind she is in this troupe, but at the same time she was SO grumpy and SO cute. I feel bad taking pleasure in her angst but boy was she cute. She talked about how interesting it was to play someone who was struggling to overcome his own roadblocks, both as the only upperclassman to ever play this role, and also having just turned ken-10, where otokoyaku are supposed to “come of age” so to speak. And the frustration and uncertainty she put into the role was extremely palpable. As I’m used to her being a disembodied arm or a blurry image over someone’s shoulder on most DVDs, I couldn’t be happier that she finally has a whole solid handful of her very own scenes that I might actually be able to see not only in the theater. She’s closer to the middle when the otokoyaku dance too, AND she moved up a parade spot. I most definitely teared up when she came down the stairs featured between Rara and Mineri.
Moeko was SO CUTE as Livingston, and the scene where Rusty busts into Livingston’s place pretending to be an FBI agent was one of my favorites, along with the one where Danny comes to get the Malloy brothers and they mess with his face on the security camera. I’m so enamored with both Kotti and Yuuki Shion (Yuuki Shion dangerously so, YIKES; she’s like the awkward baby Sora I fell in love with reincarnated, plus she can do Komu-esque things with her legs and jump so astonishingly high). I will forever be obsessed with Susshii and how much joy and passion she pours into playing even the most crotchety old men. I don’t know what it IS about Rinkira that screams old man to the producers (other than that maybe they just need someone to do it), but I even liked her as Reuben, and Akine Hikaru as Yen a surprising amount. I always thought of Yen as a scary role that you don’t want your girl to get stuck with, and for someone prominent I guess it would be a bummer, but I don’t think I’ve ever noticed Akine Hikaru do much of anything before, so I was mostly just wide eyed at how acrobatic and good with a yo-yo she is.
The finale is REAL good; Makaze is hot and a little sweaty and her hair is styled to make her look even sweatier. The top-star-in-a-harem-of-musumeyaku number is done in one of my favorite aesthetics, where the musumeyaku let their hair down (literally) no matter how intricately they were styled up to that point, and you can see the creases from their former pins and braids and it’s a little messy and loose and sexy which are all things I wish they’d let musumeyaku be more often, and Makaze is in the middle just like doing illegal things with her mouth and all that jazz. The otokoyaku dance is good too, and the duet dance is cute as shit (there’s a part where Makaze like boops Madoka’s nose and then Madoka pushes her like ~stop that~ and ugh).
And speaking of ugh, the end of Act 1 where all 11 of them turn around and saunter toward the back of their stage after formulating their flawless plan put my stomach in knots, both for the sheer swagger and the overflowing love I feel for this lineup of this troupe. I know I’ve been saying this for like two years and it STILL hasn’t happened on the scale I’ve been expecting, but I can feel the transfers coming and I’m scared.

The Patterns of the Death Fake-Outs
Happy Monday! Glad to be back with some new theories. I’m about to make up for my week-long absence with a long post, so settle in. Today we'll talk about death fake outs a little bit more. I’ve thought about them a lot since the end of S9 and mentioned them a few times. But I wanted to lay out the pattern I’m seeing for you fore S10 begins because I’m already seeing this pattern with Carol and Ezekiel. I want you guys to be able to watch for it.
So, quick review. There are going to be four major death fake outs over the course of the series, from S4 to S15, which is what Gimple planned when he took over in 3x16/4x01. Beth hinted at them when she said, "I'm not Michonne, I’m not Carol, I’m not Maggie…but I made it."
Tumblr media
I believe that those four ladies, including Beth, are each one half of the couples that will be involved in the death fake outs. The major difference is that Beth herself is the person who seems to have died, whereas with each of the other three couples, it's the man who seems to have died.
Tumblr media
The first major fake out was, of course, Beth. That happened in S5 and I don’t need to go through that for most of you. We’re all very familiar with it.
Tumblr media
Next was Glenn’s in S6. Glenn seemed to be dead from 6x03 to 6x07. That was his death fake out. And even though it was of small duration, I remember how big a deal it was, was among the fans. They were split pretty evenly about whether he was alive or not and it caused a major stir in the fandom. TD was one of few groups who correctly predicted he would live. Plenty of other people hoped or believed he would, but I say we correctly predicted it because we looked at the symbolism around him, which was the same as the symbolism around Beth. If Beth was alive, Glenn must be too. And we were right.
Tumblr media
More recently, we had Rick's fake out in S9. Unlike Beth and Glenn, the writers made it very obvious to the audience that Rick is still alive, but it was still a fake out where Michonne, Daryl, and the rest of TF are concerned.
I said at the end of last season that I was seeing that there would probably be a death fake out for Ezekiel coming, and I stand by that. I’ll explain why as we go along. I don't know if Ezekiel's fake out will be like Beth and Glenn’s, where they don't tell the audience what's going on, or if it will be more like Rick's, where it’s very obvious to the audience that he still lives. I think it could go either way.
So, I’d been thinking about the symbolism we see around each of these fake outs, which I’ll go over here in a minute. That led me to think about the actual sequence and realize there’s a very specific and discernible pattern do these fake outs as well. We can use this to prove that Beth is still alive and also to help us see the pattern as it plays out for Carzekiel.
Symbolism we see around the fake out:
1. Grady lighting. Many TDers have discussed this over the years. We often see an indoor setting that is dark on the inside but with light streaming in from outside, which makes it kind of murky and shadowy inside. Most of us think of this as “Grady Lighting.”
Tumblr media
A.   For Beth, it actually is Grady, seen above. Though, I think you could also argue that the veterinary college in 4a, which had a whole lot of Grady foreshadows may also have qualified, especially as Daryl was there.
B.   For Glenn, it was the pet shop. Same kind of lighting, plus Glenn had a lot of Beth’s dialogue there. It was also in the pet shop that we saw the 5:10 time on his pocket watch.
Tumblr media
C.   For Richonne, I'm thinking it was probably the school that held the amusement park. The amusement park was outdoors, of course, but they fell through the roof of the school before finding all the food, and the inside of the school had the murky lighting we’re looking for.
D.   I also think we already saw this for Carzekiel this past season. In the movie theater. This was another place we saw lots of suspicious Bethyl-like symbols, including a blonde walker who had the top of her head taken off, and a movie poster with a serious/Sirius piggyback on it.
Tumblr media
2.    Cages. We often see small, pet-sized cages around these couples and especially around their death fakeouts.
A.   The original cage symbol we saw was the bird cage in Beth’s cell.
Tumblr media
B.   For Glenn, again the pet shot. There were tons of DOG cages there (dog = return) and I remember also seeing one in 6x07 when he was chasing Enid. There was a bird cage hanging in the background nearly identical to the one in Beth’s cell.
C.   To be honest, I’m not 100% sure where we saw one around Richonne. (I haven’t had time to go back and rewatch all of S7 and S8, which I really should, so if anyone has any insights, let me know.) But I’m pretty sure we saw one in 7x12, either at the school/amusement park or while looking for supplies.
Tumblr media
D.   We may see more cages around Carzekiel as the fake out gets closer, but in the movie theater, the popcorn machine with spokes sticking out did act as a cage of sorts for the walkers.
3. Candlelight dinner. Everyone remembers this as one of our favorite Bethyl moments, right?
A.   So of course the obvious one was in Alone for Bethyl.
Tumblr media
B.   Remember that in 6x12, we saw Maggie and Glenn eating dinner together by candlelight while talking about the upcoming trip to the Saviors’ compound. I remember everyone talking about how much it LOOKED like the Alone dinner, but of course, where Beth was concerned, nothing ever came of it. Not in that season, anyway.
Tumblr media
C.   With Richonne, it was their candlelight dinner in 7x12.
Tumblr media
D.   I don’t think we’ve seen this for Carzekiel yet. Once I go over the sequence, you’ll understand why. But I think we’ll see something like this for them this season, before Ezekiel’s death fake out happens.
So, here's the thing. Over the seasons, every time one of us TD-ers see this kind of symbolism, we tend to just yell, “Beth symbolism! Beth symbolism!” And we’re really not wrong about that. But we also weren’t always seeing the big picture. I’ll admit that. Because while there are definitely ties between Beth and these symbols, in each case, they were put in the episodes less to show that Beth was about to show up, and more to symbolize the coming death fake out for these particular characters.
So for example, when Glenn used thee green balloons to tell TF he was still alive, we hoped that meant Beth was right around the corner. She obviously wasn’t. But we weren’t wrong about what that symbolized either. It was just present in S6 for Glenn, rather than Beth. But that doesn’t mean that she won’t follow Glenn’s arc of being alive and returning to Maggie eventually.
So now let’s talk about the sequence. While thinking about all of this, something came to mind.
A few years ago, I was doing a re-watch of S4 and I saw something that absolutely floored me. In episode 4x11, we saw a very similar sequence to Beth at Grady. This is the episode where Glenn wakes up in the back of Abraham's truck and demands they pull over so he can get out and walk back to start searching for Maggie. When he wakes up, the camera starts very close to his eyes and they flutter open much like Beth’s did at Grady.
Tumblr media
I was really shocked to see that because this happened before Beth was even taken in 4x13. There’s no way anyone could have zeroed in on this back once episode aired. So, here’s what this made me realize.
Every death fake out involves a romantic couple, and the following is always true of this arc for them:
1.    There is a foreshadow of it that’s not always obvious until later.
2.    Their romantic relationship is previously established.
3.    They go through what I’m going to call a trial separation. This is not the fake out. It’s a short separation BEFORE the fake out happens, and is characterized as at least one of them (perhaps both) searching for the other and having great faith that they will find each other again.
4.    At the beginning of the trial separation, a PLACE is lost and not regained.
5.    The one who will eventually be presumed dead wakes up without their significant other and the camera zooms in on their eyes as they flutter open. Just something they always put into this sequence.
6.    They come back together after the separation for a short time before the actual fake out happens.
7.    After the fake out, the other member of the couple has to realize the one they thought was dead is actually alive and they have a time of happiness together. It’s important to note that characters involved in the fake outs can die for real (Glenn) but this sequence had to play out FIRST, before he actually died on the show. Let’s take a look, shall we?
Glaggie:
1.    I believe the foreshadow here was when Glenn became sick with the virus. If you pay attention to what is done and said (Maggie talking to Beth through the door, and Hershel through the glass) there’s a lot of themes about her losing him and needing to go be with him again.
2.    Their relationship was previous established before this sequence began in S4 because they’d been a canon couple since S2. No sweat.
3.    Their trial separation happened in 4B. Glenn and Maggie both searched for one another, having faith they would find one another, and they eventually did. Abraham even razzed Glenn for his devotion, saying, "I get it. You have to find her."
Tumblr media
And this was also when a lot of the fandom grew angry at Maggie because she was so devoted to finding Glenn and seemed to have forgotten about Beth. My fellow theorists and I have talked about why they did things that way back in 4B. For the most part, we’ve always thought they wanted to establish Beth and Daryl’s relationship and that they were all each other had. But I also think it was for the sake of this pattern. Maggie needed to be solely looking for Glenn and him solely looking for her. Having her also look for Beth would've muddled the pattern and the writers didn't want that, even if it made Maggie look a bit shallow where Beth was concerned.
4.    The place lost at the beginning of the trial separation was the prison. They lost it when it went down, which is how they got separated, and even after they reunited, no one ever went back to the prison.
5.    As discussed above, once separated from Maggie, Glenn woke up in the back of Abraham’s truck and they did the eye flutter thing.
6.    Glenn and Maggie came back together after the separation in 4x16. The actual death fake out didn’t come until more than a full season later in 6x03.
Tumblr media
7.    After the death fake out, Glenn eventually returned to Maggie and she realized he was alive, and they had a season of happiness together before his actual death. RIP Glenn.
Bethyl:
1.    How was this foreshadowed? Well, take your pick. There were about a hundred. But the one I’m going to focus on is the walker going through the roof of the Big Spot. I may talk about this more later, but with the helicopter on the roof and the exact same sequence happening for Carzekiel in 9x01 (Ezekiel going through the glass floor) it’s obvious there’s a connection between this symbolism and what’s currently happening in the show.
2.    Their relationship was established very quickly, in 4x12 and 4x13. The instant it was established (the candlelight dinner) the separation instantly began when Beth was kidnapped.
Tumblr media
3.    The trial separation was, of course, when Beth was at Grady. Remember that in 5a, Daryl was super positive about her being alive and had tons of faith that he’d find her. So he was also actively searching for her. While Beth couldn’t really search for Daryl in a physical way, I think her question at Grady (“The man I was with, is he here too?”) was symbolic of her searching for him as well.
4.    When the trial separation began at the end of 4x13, the place they lost was the funeral home. They’d seriously discussed settling there, but left when Beth was taken and never went back.
Tumblr media
5.    Beth, of course, woke up at Grady, without Daryl, and they did the close-up, eye flutter thing with the camera.
6.    They came back together VERY briefly in the hallway at Grady, but that fulfills the end of the trial separation. Unfortunately, they didn’t have much time—only a few minutes—before the death fake out began.
7.    Of course we haven’t seen them come back together and Daryl realize that she’s alive yet, but I’m hopeful that it’s coming up soon.
Richonne:
1.    7x12 was one great big foreshadow for the Rick death fake out. Doesn’t get much more clear than that.
2.    Richonne’s relationship went canon in S6, and their fake out arc didn’t start until S8, so the relationship was previously established.
3.    It’s a little harder to pin down where Richonne’s trial separation happened. After disussing it with @wdway, we’re thinking it was during S8 and AOW. Remember that at the beginning of the season, Rick left Alexandria while Michonne stayed behind. They made a big deal about him leaving. In keeping with pattern, this wasn't a matter of Michonne thinking he was dead. She didn’t know where he was and they were separated, but she fully believed he would return, and he did. believed he would return simply didn't know where he was or what was going on.
4. The place they lost was Alexandria, when the Saviors bombed it. I’ll admit this one is slightly different because they didn’t leave it and never return, but they also couldn’t return to the same Alexandria again. It had been bombed. They had to completely rebuild. So I think it still works.
5. Rick’s eyes fluttering open has happened several times, actually. Including in Carl’s vision for the future (Old Man Coda) and in 4x11 (same episode as we saw it with Glenn, which just proves both these death fake outs were already planned in S4) when he woke up in the Claimer house.
Tumblr media
6. He and Michonne reunited, had the heartbreaking task of burying Carl together, and had some time to be happy together (and with Judith) before Rick’s death fake out happened in 9x05.
7. Like Beth and Daryl, we haven’t seen Michonne realize Rick is alive or the two of them reunite yet. But it’s kind of a foregone conclusion for them, as we already know Michonne is leaving the show this season to go to the Rick Grimes films. So obviously they’ll reunite at some point, and I’m thinking she’ll find out Rick is alive sometime in S10.
Carzekiel:
We’re still at the start of Carzekiel’s arc, so not as many of these steps have happened for them. But a few of them have.
1.    As I said above, the foreshadow here was when Ezekiel went through the glass floor in the museum in 9x01. It was kind of a combination of the walker going through the roof in 4x01 at the Big Spot, and Michonne thinking she’d lost Rick for a minute in 7x12, and then hugging him when she saw he was okay. Carol did the same thing here. 🤗Death Fake Out! 🤗
(Btw, this is why I think the walker that goes through the roof of the Big Spot represents Beth. I always kinda suspected, but with this happening to Ezekiel in 9x01, I think it’s the tie I’ve always looked for. The exact same thing happened in 4x01 with Daryl in Carol’s place. Meanwhile, the helicopter on the roof of the Big Spot ties Beth’s fake out to the helicopter people.)
Tumblr media
2.    Their relationship is obviously well-established now. It grew in S7 and they came together in S8. Before their fake out arc began, they’d been living together as husband and wife for many years.
3.    Trial separation. We are right smack dab in the middle of their trial separation as we speak, y’all. Carol leaving Ezekiel at the end of S9 represents the beginning of their situation. So that’s where we are in the sequence and we should be able to chart it moving forward.
4. The place they lost when it began is, obviously, the Kingdom. Which they had to abandon for the winter due to bad plumbing and other problems. Now, maybe they’ll resurrect the Kingdom (pun totally intended!) as a community in future seasons, but AK said Carol would never go back to her life there with Ezekiel, so for her at least, it’s a permanent loss.
5. We haven’t seen Ezekiel’s eyes flutter open yet that I’m aware of. But given where we are in the sequence, I wouldn’t expect that we would have. In each other case, it was during the trial situation that we saw this (after Maggie and Glenn were separated, after Beth was taken to Grady, etc.) so I think we’ll see this at some point in S10.
5.    Carol and Ezekiel will probably be apart for time. I think the come back together at least see each other at some point—probably not get back together entirely, but see one another; maybe even have a candlelight dinner together—and after that, Ezekiel’s death fake out will happen die. Again, I don't know if the audience will be privy to the fact that he's alive or not, but Carol will definitely think that he's dead.
6.    Obviously, as we aren’t far enough in the sequence yet, we haven’t see them reunite after the death fake out either. But remember the foreshadow of him falling through the floor in 9x01.
So just wanted to lay the sequence out for you so we can watch for it with Carzekiel.
Tumblr media
I also think it’s worth throwing out there that we’ve also seen this with Al in FTWD. I believe she’ll be part of a fake out sequence as well. I don't know if she’ll be the person who seems to die or if it will be Isabel, but we saw a lot of the same symbolism around her when she met Isabel and a lot of similar things to Bethyl’s arc in S4. And of course Isabel, like Rick (and possibly Beth) is with the helicopter people. Not everyone watches FTWD, but if you do, that'll be something to watch for as well in the back half of the season.
And the more I think about it, the more things I think of that we always see. Another one is the lost shoe/foot symbolism. The shoe Beth sees in Inmates, and I know Rick pulled the shoe/foot off one of the army walkers in 7x12. The other two, I’d have to go back and find, but the point is that a lot of the symbolism we’ve pointed to for a long time because we KEEP seeing it is there to show the death fake out sequences.
This is the pattern of the fake out. We’re just waiting to see Rick and Beth return, and we’re in the middle of the sequence right now for Carzekiel. So, we can watch for these things going forward. Thoughts?

Tag Game? Tag Game :D
Rules: Answer 17 questions & tag 17 people you want to know better
I was tagged by @tessaisalbright (I actually enjoy stuff like this so feel free to tag me in this type of shit more often)
Nickname: Beth by my irl friends (and whoever sees this if you want), Dina by my D&D buddies
Zodiac sign: Cancer
Height: 172.72cm (if I did my math correctly) | 5′8
Hogwarts house: Hufflepuff!
Last thing I googled: D.P Dough, needed to see how late it was open till.
Song stuck in my head: Galway Girl by Ed Sheeran. The music video is honestly one of my favorites.
Following: 843
Followers: On this blog? 151, overall including my side blogs? 203
Amount of sleep I get: Honestly? 4 or 12, rarely is there an in between
Lucky numbers: 7
Dream job: Equestrian Vet or High School History Teacher
Wearing: Super soft ombre sweater by Sonoma that I got a khols last year, jeans and mismatched kitty socks (same design different color)
Favorite songs: Don’t make me choose, please. I beg of you
Instruments: I played alto sax from 5th grade until I graduated high school, so....like 8 years? I also learned how to play viola, have working knowledge of guitar and piano and started trying to learn how to play the trumpet?
Random facts: Alright, here’s my top 6:
1. I can watch horror movies for 24 hours with no issues, but I can not sit down and play a horror game for any meaningful length of time. Until Dawn has been the only exception to this, but I think that’s partially because it’s more cinematic?
2. I’m genderfluid, pansexual and demiromantic.
3. I was in my high school’s marching band for 3 out of 4 years. My favorite marching shows we did were Mamma Mia my freshman year, and Pirates of the Caribbean for my senior year.
4. I’m pagan and a witch! My worship focuses specifically on Apollo and Athena, with nods to Artemis. I also occasionally pay tribute to my German heritage with offerings to the Norse gods, but not nearly as much as I probably should. My witchy practices are mostly focused on divination and sigils, though I’m trying to branch out a bit.
5.  If we ignore the fact that the calendar we use is different than the calendar that the ancient Greeks would have used when writing their myths, I have the same birthday as Apollo and Artemis according to certain sources! I can’t remember where I read it, but some people believed the twins to be born on the 7th day of the 7th month, which yes technically would have been September 7th but it’s really cool that it lines up like that!
6: I have a hard time saying no to chocolate and soda. KitKats and Dr. Pepper/Pibb are my weaknesses when it comes to junk food.
Aesthetics: Reds, greens, oranges, yellows (basically fall colors), halloween, soft stuff, beds covered in blankets and pillows that are perfect for snuggling, Dreary days, Thunderstorms.
Tagging: I don’t really have anyone to tag that I honestly think would do this, so anyone who follows me that wants to do this feel free! I’d love to get to know all of you eventually!! @fiernem however, can get tagged because I love making my fiance look at things that make them exasperated with me. It’s payback for the reblog sprees

Ok I’m sorry but these name surveys have turned out to be loadsa fun for me so let me just take another one lmaooooo.
I honestly find it therapeutic since it allows me to reflect and look back on all of the people I’ve crossed paths with before, whether for better or for worse :) Sorry if I’ll repeat names/explanations, I’ll do my best to remember more stuff about them!
aaron: Already mentioned this in the last survey, but he’s a part of my high school friend group. He was one of my first guy friends ever and he was very nice to me from the very beginning; always made sure I felt like I belonged in a crowd. Also studies in UP and I think he is taking up sports science because he wants to go on to med school. abby/abbey: This is my mom’s name. She goes by the first spelling. I know an Abby from high school; she studies in La Salle now. adam: I don’t know him personally but there used to be a dude from WhatCulture Wrestling (a popular YouTube channel) named Adam – he was my favorite to watch until he got caught in a major fuck-up and was booted from the group. adel adrienne ajee
ajla alan: I have an uncle named Allan. He was part of my dad’s friend group in college; they met each other in their org. He was in every birthday party when I was a kid, but I don’t see him anymore now because his family already migrated somewhere else. alex: Broad comm student who plays the guitar and sings well; I haven’t talked to her. I also knew an Alex from 6th grade and she was just...not a very bright student. She had to move because I don’t think her grades reached the standard in my school, and now I think she lives in California. If not there, then somewhere else in the States. Alex is a fairly common name here, though, and I know I’ve missed out on a bunch of other Alexes.
alexa: Again, another girl from high school. Was a cool girl and a party girl from the very start. Like I said in my past survey, she lives in Australia now. alexis alexzandria alicia: My friend Alliyah’s boss, who she has a huge crush on, is named Alicia but she goes by Alice. alisa allie/ally: Gossiping fake loser from our rival journ org who does nothing but spread black propaganda about our org to keep people from joining ours – when she talks to us, though, she’s super nice. I’m so fucking happy she’s graduating because she has such a toxic personality :(  allison: Former prof in Comm 100. Wasn’t very good but I had a crush on her from the very first lecture. She had a serious car accident in the middle of the sem and had to wear like a nose brace thing for the rest of the sem. alycea/alycia alyssa: I rode the school bus with a girl named Alyssa but I was much closer to her older sister Alex. There’s also an Alyssa from broad comm and I was classmates with her in my political science, history, and broad comm classes for this semester. She’s the niiiiiiiicest girl and would always help me out if I have missing notes or whatever. amanda: Girl from my org who’s taking up engineering. I was her VP last semester, but she had personal problems and so she wasn’t able to work much under me. Whenever she did, though, she was always reliable. Quiet girl, a little socially awkward. amari amber andrew: I first met him at a rally/protest I attended in 2017. Hit it off well right from the start because I saw that he was wearing a wrestling shirt, so we bonded over WWE that day. He plays the guitar and has released his own EP, is a junior DJ at one of the hip radio stations in Manila, and has done his fair share of hosting gigs. He used to take up engineering but shifted to journalism as he likes it better. Is very adventurous and amiable but tends to get too friendly; some might find it tiring but I honestly think it’s just his personality. He was my groupmate in communication research and I thought he was decent. angela: My best friend’s name is Angela. We first met each other in Grade 1 when we were 7, and we became friends after I stabbed her palm with a newly-sharpened pencil. She still has the pencil mark today. anna: Anna is a popular secondary name in the Philippines, but no one actually uses it as their main name. anne: Same with Anne. annie: My grandma’s best friend who used to come over the house every Sunday. Like I said in the past survey, I’m honestly not sure if she’s still alive lol. She was already pretty old when I was still very young. anthony aasad ashley: I *think* I have a distant cousin named Ashley that I first met at a family reunion last year. But let’s be real, Filipino families are huge and I don’t even know if I remember her name correctly, if she’s even an Ashley. aubri: One of my closest friends in high school was Aubrey. We were very, very close in junior year until she dropped a bomb on me that her family was migrating to California by the time we start senior year. We don’t talk anymore because of the distance and the timezones, but I’ll always be there for her no matter what. Incredibly talented dancer and figure skater. She’s in UCLA right now and as far as I know she is killing it over there. austin autumn: I know an Autumn from my wrestling fandom days. I think she was a redhead, but I don’t remember anything else. barbara becca: A girl from broad comm. She was one of the principal actors in one of the productions we did for BC and she has a really cute laugh. Super elegant; she reminded me a little bit of Audrey Hepburn because she was really graceful. She’s the older sister of my orgmate Rita, who’s from psych. ben beth bethany betty: I have a friend-ish named Bettina. Betty’s kind of like a goofy nickname; she actually doesn’t use it but I think it still counts. I’ve known her since first grade; she peed her skirt in our first day of Grade 1 and I remember her crying a lot. She had a wild TV show phase starting from Grade 5 and she was into Nicole Kidman, Paula Abdul, Kara DioGuardi, Shania Twain, Celine Dion, Stana Katic, Kate Walsh, etc etc etc and a bunch of shows like Private Practice, Grey’s Anatomy, Castle, Suits etc etc etc. She was super shy, very awkward in person so I’m glad her love of TV shows and actresses sprung her into life for the most part. She’s in UP Manila and I think too busy to get into fandoms now. bijan bobby bram brandon brandy breanna/brianna: Brianna is my friend Pat’s middle name. I honestly used to be so envious of this name of hers because I thought it sounded really nice, but now I think it kinda sounds like a bratty name hahaha. brendan brian: I have an uncle named Bryan, but we aren’t related. He’s my mom’s cousin’s husband. He’s VERY shy and likes to keep to himself or his kids at family gatherings but turns really cool when he’s had a little to drink. brittany/brittney/brittni brock brooke bruce buck cameron camille: Nice girl from my childhood school bus. There’s an unofficial norm in private schools in that when you’re older, you get to be mean to the younger kids. Not her. She was always nice and include us second graders in her antics in the bus, even though she was several years older. I was bummed when I found out they moved to the States. candy carina: I used to ride the school bus with a Carina but she was much younger. I was already in high school when she was in kindergarten. She’s the younger sister of Carissa, who I always found to be pretty weird. Anyway, these girls were clearly rich and pampered; they had a nanny ride with us in the bus. carly: I had an Internet friend named Carley; she was my first online best friend. We met here on Tumblr in like 2012 and got close because we were both huge fans of Stephanie McMahon at the time haha. We would video-call EVERY afternoon when I would come home from school while she would get ready for school (she’s from Pennsylvania). Eventually she’d disappear off the face of the earth and stopped talking to me but resurfaced a few months later. She’d continue to do this like 10 other times until I got tired of getting my hopes up of having her back. She’s tried reconnecting with me again on DMs but I just ignored it cos I knew there was a good chance she’d just cut off our communication again. We’re still Facebook friends and she’d pop up on my news feed from time to time, but that’s it. carol: I have a great-aunt named Carol. But my grandma has so many sisters that I honestly do not remember which one she is. carrie cassandra: I had a batchmate named Kassandra, who went by Kasey. Really bright, sweet, intelligent girl. She moved to Singapore in 7th grade. She was very, very simple and very kind to everyone and you wouldn’t be able to tell that she’s crazy rich. Her dad’s a top exec for a famous food and drink company and she lives in the same village I do–their house is guarded 24/7. cassidy chantel charlotta chelsie: Chelsea’s part of our high school friend group and is also crazy rich. We always hung out at her place because her house is huge. She’s very maarte, which I cannot really translate to English...the closest term is probably high maintenance hahaha; but she’s very sweet and generous and kind too. cheryl chris: One of Gabie’s best friend is a Kris. Other than liking outdoorsy stuff like going to the beach and hiking which is all I know about her, I think she’s also half-American. christopher: I have an uncle with this name but like I said his nickname is Perry. He works abroad like my dad (his brother-in-law) and my dad’s sister (his sister-in-law). cienna clare: Guidance counselor for several grade school levels. Understandably, she is very maternal. I once had a nasty fight with another girl and we had to be sent to her office. clarissa: Went to school with a Clarisa. We first met in Grade 4 because she rode my school bus, and instantly clicked. She was very nice, very sweet; she was simple to the point that, like Kasey, you’d have no clue how rich she was. She lives in a huge mansion now but she lived in a huge house before that as well, it’s crazy. Really, really sweet and she would give the best hugs. I played table tennis a lot with her in high school too. She studies in Miriam now but I’m not so sure about her course. claudia: Already said a lot about her in the last survey. Popular girl her whole life. She still goes to a bunch of parties but she is so much nicer now than she was when we were younger. cody cole collin corey corinne: One of my former teachers named her daughter Corinne. I think she’s 8 this year. courtney crissy: Chrissy was one of my very best friends in preschool and grade school. She looked Chinese even though she had a Filipino-sounding surname, and I was never sure if she had Chinese blood or not. She was boyish so she was very rowdy, liked to play rough, and punched other girls if she got pissed; but other than that she was very quiet and shy. She was constantly on the basketball team too. Eventually her family moved to Canada. crystal dallas dan danielle danika: An orgmate that worked under my committee two semesters ago. She’s from business ad and was juggling another org so she wasn’t very active at all to begin with. Her performance just plummeted every month and she ended up ghosting my org last semester–never replied to anyone when we tried to check up on her. I was very mad at her until she restarted contact with us recently and explained how tumultuous stuff suddenly got in her personal life and mental health that she had to take care of herself for a while, which we all understood immediately. She’s coming back to the org this year and we’re more than ready to welcome her. She’s very charming, goofy, and kind. She has a very life-of-the-party personality haha. danny: I have a friend-ish named Dani that I met through Angela. We all sat at the same table during the senior ball at Ateneo in 2016 so we got to talk then. She played volleyball in high school and she studies in San Beda now. She wants to take up law school so I think her course is in political science.  darious david: Pat’s boyfriend from Serbia and Patrice’s boyfriend from economics HAHAHAHA. Also a sucky groupmate from my comm res class who did absolutely nothing to contribute in the final paper that Hannah and I worked our asses so hard for. dean deanglo derrick destiny devin dillon donna dwayne [Random survey-taker note: these are all very Western names...] emie emily eric: My godfather is an Eric. Like my Tito Allan, he also met my dad through their college org. He’s an exec in a bank now and is suuuuuuper rich. Has a daughter named Arya which he could’ve named after the GoT character but am not really sure about that. everette felicia gabby: Wildly popular name. 1) My girlfriend’s name is Gabie; 2) there was another Gaby in my high school batch. 3) I have a friend from the Tumblr wrestling fandom named Gabbie who was really good in Photoshop – we study in the same school but have never met each other. 4) I have a high school batchmate whose little sister is a Gaby, annnnnddd I also just remembered that 5) there was another Gabbi in the wrestling fandom who also made good edits at the time. gerald gina guliana gloria: Do last names count? Hahaha. Gloria is the surname of my instructor in my class in international relations just this past sem. He’s a new faculty member but is craaaazy good at teaching; clearly knows what he’s talking about. He was passionate about his subject and I always admired that about him. I was really sad when class had to end. grace: I have a great-aunt named Grace; he’s my late grandpa’s sister. She’s really...quite fabulous; she has connections with super prestigious people and has a fancy wardrobe. She’s the only Filipino grandmother I know who goes by ‘Nana’ to her grandkids, which I note because Nana is like a super Western thing afaik. She has drama queen tendencies though and can be sensitive to a lot of things lmao. gracie hannah: One of the close friends I’ve made in college so far! Our first meeting was when she and Macy moved from UP Los Banos to the Diliman campus (where I study) and the three of us enrolled in our classes together. I was closer to Macy first, but eventually me and Hannah got a stronger friendship. Best groupmate, workmate, and David Archuleta fan I know. Sings great and plays the piano great. An absolute angel. hasan hawa hayley: I only know a dog named Hailey lol. heather: Someone from my high school batch is a Heather! We were never in the same cliques but she is one of the friendliest people I know. She knows how to talk to anyone which I appreciated. We bonded over One Direction in high school and she also confided in me a few times about her relationship and how her parents forbade her from seeing her boyfriend because he was trans. She also studies in my school now, taking up business economics. We barely see each other but say hi whenever we do. holly hunter ibro isaac isaiah jack jackie: One of my aunts has a relative named Jackie and I literally only found this out earlier when we met up and caught up with each other. jacob jacquelin jaden: A kid of my mom’s best friend is a Jaden. He was named after Jaden Smith because he was born during the time the Karate Kid remake made big waves. jake: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I had a garbage instructor with this name. This dude was in charge of my weekly crying binges and panic attacks because I was never sure if I was gonna pass his class. He seemed to enjoy giving all of us failing marks too which made me hate his piece of shit ass more. He’s supposed to be really good at what he does but I guess knowledge just does not always translate well in the classroom. Ended up passing his class, but now I’m cursing his ass forever. james: I have a younger cousin named James. I’ve only met him twice; once when he was a newborn, and then when he celebrated Christmas 2018 with us. His family’s lived in New Zealand and Vietnam since 2008, which is why we never get to see him, and why he does not remember me at all. janai janveia jared jason jay: My uncle is a Jay; he’s my mom’s brother. I disowned him as my uncle many years ago. He’s a terrible drunk, a disgusting smoker, and an annoying freeloader. I tried giving him a chance before, but after I found out that he drunkenly punched a cat once, I ignored him forever. Sometimes my mom and grandmother would ask me to acknowledge him at family gatherings, so I’d have to begrudingly do so; but other than that he’s out of my life. jazmine: There was a Jasmin from my old school. She’d always been very artistic and she was into K-Pop very early on. She’s taking up linguistics in my school now. jeana jeanette jen: Girl from the now-ancient Tumblr wrestling fandom. She’s probably the biggest and most passionate wrestling fan I know as she would follow both the mainstream and indie promotions the last time I checked up on her. She was kinda vain and kept on taking selfies while captioning each one as ‘ugly.’ I remember that she has a dog she really loves, and that she lives in Boston. jeralyn jerry jesse jessica: Meh, annoying girl from high school. I’m sure she’s nice(?) but her personality just didn’t click with me. She was too vibrant and too friendly that it almost seemed fake; but what do I know, I never really made the effort to know her better other than bonding over 1D here and there. jim jocelyn jodi: I know a Jodee from my old school. Spoke straight English, is intelligent, but is a huge goofball and very mischievous/rebellious. She was a smartass and liked testing the teachers’ patience whenever she can, but she always did it in a very funny way I think. She was often called to the guidance counselor’s office for having relationships with other students (I went to a Catholic all-girls’ private school, so this was obviously not allowed) but she always stood her ground about it and was never afraid to fight back. She had a phase of unhooking our bras in like 5th grade. joey: My blockmate has a younger sister named Joey. I think she is also studying in UP. john: The cousin I’m closest to is named John, but it’s not his preferred name. jonathan jordan josh: I know two Joshes, but only because they are boyfriends of a couple of acquaintances. jossie julia julie junior justin: I went to school with a girl who initially went by Justinn, but like she all wanted to start calling her by her other name, Ria, as we grew older. I also briefly rode the school bus with a girl named Justine, but we didn’t talk much. kailyn kaitlyn kaleb: Chelsea’s brother is named Caleb. kali karrie karli kasey: Oh, I guess Kasey (under Cassandra) falls under this too lmao. kasahwn katarina: Not exact, but Katrina’s a fairly popular name where I live. My cousin’s boyfriend is named Katrina, my aunt is a Katrina (but she goes by Bianca), and I also went to school with a Katrina even though her nickname is Cheenie. kate: Already talked about this in the last name survey. I met Kate through my org; she’s a huge joker/goofball, is naturally very friendly, and has an awesome wardrobe. When she’s bored and we both aren’t doing anything, she puts makeup on me. Works very well but is also a huge partier HAHAHAHA. katie: This is my nickname for Kate, if that counts. kayla: There’s a Kayla in my college, but her course is in broad(cast) comm(unication). I remember her very well because she is the first person I EVER talked to when we had our freshman orientation in UP. We didn’t become close after that. She’s pretty, has nice clothes and hair, is part of the popular circle, and she’s part of streetdance which is like one of the cooler orgs on campus. kelli kent: I have a younger cousin who’s a Kent. We used to be close when we were both kids, but now we’re shy towards each other. He was obsessed with dinosaurs when he was younger, like 5 or 6. kerna kevin kiana: I have an orgmate named Kiana! SOOOOO pretty and has like the clearest skin. Very simple and down-to-earth. Is nice but can kick your ass because she has a black belt in taekwondo. She’s smart as hell and I’m pretty sure she’s graduating as magna cum laude, besides the fact that she’s going to UP Law right after. kiley kim: I also have an orgmate named Kim :) He’s the sweetest guy ever, and is just so easy to talk to. He has a really cute relationship with one of the org’s alumni. I didn’t get to bond with him much but am sad all the same that he’s graduating this year :( kimberly: Went to my old school with a Kimberly but she went by Kim. Was one of the rougher, lesser-behaved kids. She was a demon in grade school. Not quite sure how she’s doing now. She’s my friend on Facebook but can’t really care less about her life updates. kirsten kristy kyle: Kyelle is a kinda good friend of mine. He’s from the same circle, but we aren’t close in particular. He’s very nice though, very silly and likes to goof around. laila lain: I used to have an orgmate named Laine. She was our VP for External Affairs two years ago. She’s now in law school. leah: Cheenie’s mom is a Lea. She’s probably the best mom friend my mom made from my school hahaha; she’s known me since I was 4. lexi: I have a high school batchmate named Alexa but I think she goes by Lexi, judging from her Twitter name. Is naturally quiet but gets very friendly when you get her to open up. Easy to talk to. liam: Liam is my youngest cousin, I think. He was born in 2014 or 2015. I’ve never seen him, because he and his family lives in New York. I’ve only ever met his big sister. :( lilly: This girl I was classmates with for a journ elective. I found her to be verrrrry pretty and she had the biggest, most piercing eyes; until I found out that she was one of those die-hard Catholics who are vehemently pro-life. She once defended a fraternity whose members were confirmed to be misogynist, sexist, racist, homophobic and transphobic pieces of shit in a leaked groupchat simply because she believes in ‘forgiveness.’ She caused another ruckus two weeks ago when she made known her pro-life views well known. I wanna unfriend her ass so bad but she just keeps making all the wrong opinions that I just wanna stay and watch her get schooled by my less-than-thrilled college mates hahaha. lina liz: If I remember correctly, there was an Elizabeth from my wrestling fandom who went by Liz. She lives somewhere in the UK, had reddish hair, and was in love with John Cena lmao. She would sometimes make edits too. loren: Other than the Lauren I mentioned in the previous survey, I also had a friend named Lauren from the Tumblr wrestling community too. She was one of the first friends I made. She was two years older than me, fancied Andy Samberg earlier than anyone else, had a cool room, was obsessed with cats, and loved tie-dye stuff. lydia lyndsey lynnette macaila mack: JM’s dad goes by Mackey, if that counts hahahaha. He’s a lawyer and a college professor. mckenzi macey: I went to high school with a Macy and now she’s in college with me too. She used to study in UPLB but moved to Diliman after a year, since she always planned to take up journalism (she didn’t pass the cutoff initially, so she had to stay in LB for a year before she moved). I was very close with her throughout high school, but idk, she’s just never been in a good place mentally so our friendship is very up-down-up-down. I tried to reconnect when we were reunited in college, but she’s found her crowd now so I’m happy for her nonetheless.
There’s also a Macy in my org who worked under my committee for a year before she moved to finance. Quiet girl but was always nice to everyone. She’s also graduating this semester :( maddie madison margo: Went to elementary school with a Margo but she preferred to spell it as Margauxe lmao. We became close for a while because we rode the school bus together and she would lend me the other half of her earbuds so we can listen to Ashley Tisdale’s Headstong and Vanessa Hudgens’ V every day (this was when High School Musical was peak popular). She sort of had a tumultuous family life here until she moved to Hawaii a few years ago. I think she may have moved to California now too. maria: Again, this is like the base name for like half of all Filipina girls. It’s so common that it’s just simply shortened to ‘Ma.’ because everyone knows what it stands for. marina marisa: Kayla’s middle name is Marissa. marquis mary: Macy’s first name is Mary. mathew: I know a bunch of Matthews from both high school and college but they all go by Matt. The one I remember the most is Matthew from another high school friend group who was close with my group. Our group was invited to their Christmas party, and they had a gimmick that each member of their group was gonna be paired with someone from ours, and it was gonna be a costume party. I was paired up with Matthew (but they called him Cho), but I never went to the party so I never got to meet him. I’m sure he’s nice, though. matt: See Mathew. maura mechelle: I have an orgmate named Michelle. She’s clumsy, kinda awkward, but she does it in a very cute way and we all love her because she’s so funny haha. She passed the toughest med school program in the COUNTRY but chose journ in the end. Is the most Chinese Chinese-Filipino girl I know. megan: I know someone whose middle name is Megan but she goes by a different name. melissa: Hahahahaha. I knew a Melissa all right. Freeloader. meredith mersadies micah: I was classmates and friends with a Micah in grade school. My parents and hers were close, so we became close too. She was very smart but I remember her to be deathly afraid of walking on beams when we had to do it in PE. She moved schools in the fifth grade, and she studies in UST now. michael: His full name is Michael, but Mike is a guy I almost went out with in high school. Wasn’t really attracted to him, but he’s like super smart so it was a huge plus point for me lol. I also have an orgmate named Michael but we all call him Elis. He’s unreliable. miranda: If surnames count, Gabie’s best friend’s last name is this haha. molly monica: Some girl who went to my old school but transferred schools early on, like in 2nd or 3rd grade. She was Gabie’s childhood friend though so I still hear from her from time to time. She’s in UP now too, but I don’t know what course she’s taking. morgan nashid natasha: I went to high school with a girl named Natasha, but she goes by Tashie. Huge girl and a beast at softball. Can be a big softie but she has weird mood swings too (and when she’s mad, she’s quite violent) so I just tried not to piss her off while we were still in school together lol. nate: Yeah he’s in the same college as me but I know zilch about him other than he’s supposed to be really good in making films. nathan neema nichole: Annoying younger busmate who graduated high school this year. nick: Nick is the codename I gave to one of my first crushes. Obviously not his legit name so I don’t think this counts. nicholas olivia paige preasia preme prisilla: When I was still applying for AIESEC, Priscilla was assigned as one of my groupmates. I was originally iffy because she didn’t get online to work until like 11 PM, but when I did see her start working, she was a GODDAMN BEAST. Amazing. Did everything I assigned to her. When I met her in person the next day, she spoke very well and was very put-together. My respect for her soared even more after that. I dropped my application soon after for unrelated reasons but it was a pleasure working with her. Last I heard, she’s a councilor-elect in her local college’s student council. rachel: My math teacher in Grade 1 was a Rachel. I don’t remember her at all, except for the fact that when she found our class noisy one day, she completely stopped talking and mimed everything for the rest of the 45-minute period. raheim raven: Creepy, weird dude from my org who’s always looking for a dick to suck. I’m not even trying to insult him, he’s just perpetually thirsty and makes sure the whole world knows it for some reason. ray renee: Sweet, intelligent, hilarious girl from my high school. She’s very makwela, which in English means zany/funny. Her dad is a national basketball coach so it’s no surprise she followed in his footsteps. richard riley rita: Sweet, sweet girl from my org. We all just kinda naturally flock to protect her from bad influences or creepy people because she just has such a sweet soul. She’s my successor VP in my committee. robby: I have an Uncle Rob, but he doesn’t go by Robby. He’s the husband of my aunt (my mom’s cousin). He’s from New Zealand and has a Masters or a PhD in film theory, I don’t actually remember which. ryan: I used to see him a lot at a relative’s house until I was like 8. I’ve never seen him since and don’t actually know how he’s related to us or me lmfao. sabrina samantha: I have a younger cousin named Samantha. Sam was born and raised in New York but visited the Philippines last year and I was primarily in charge of taking care of her. She’s just the cutest darling I’ve seen and has the most perfect accent ahuhuhuhuhuhu. She likes My Little Pony. sara sarica sean: Someone from a lower batch in high school has this name. I never knew her but we follow each other on Twitter loooooool. secilia seliena: My older cousin’s first name is Selina but she goes by her second name, Bianca or Bia for short. We were inseperable as kids but we grew shyer as we grew older :( shannon shauna: Gabie’s orgmate. That’s all I know. She liked my tweets in the past but that’s the most contact we’ve made. shayna shelby sherry seirra skylar spencer steven stevey susan: I have an Aunt Susan. She took care of me my whole childhood; fed me, gave me baths, all that stuff when my mom was too busy with work. She got run over by a hit-and-run motorcycle when I was 9 and she was never the same after. She was crankier and had violent outbursts. tamara: I went to school with a Tamara; her nickname was Tammy. She was a gentle giant; like she was a naturally big girl but was very soft-spoken and SUPER shy. We got close for a while in 4th grade but her paths differed not long after. tashryha taylor tayshaun terrell tiffany: I had a batchmate named Tiffany. She was kinda mean in grade school but got nicer as we got older. I never really got the chance to know her well. tori trevor trisha: Another high school batchmate. All I remember was that she would cheat on tests by changing her wrong answers when the teachers would give our results back so they could correct it for her. Also a big Justin Bieber fan lol. trista tylik vanessa: There was a Vanessa in an older HS batch but she went by Via; she just graduated college yesterday but that’s all I know. There’s also a Vanessa in my sister’s HS batch; she’s half-German and that’s also all I know. victoria: Some girl I had a class with was named Victoria but it’s her middle name; we all called her Kristine. wally will wyatt zach: Another guy from the wrestling group I was in. He was one of the older dudes so I was more scared of him than the rest. zachary: Same answer as Zach. I think this was his whole name. zoey
