Hi there! 💸
Introductory post about my personal savings and plans to FIRE (financial independence, retire early) 🔥
My name is Dim (I mean not really but it’s the internet so it’s good to be anonymous) and I work as a software engineer! I have a BS in Biology (that I never used ha!) and am currently in school part time to get a BS in software development. I just recently started a side business as a freelancer and might possibly have my first client this week!
I have 1 child that I am raising with my boyfriend, and we keep our finances very separate. We only really split child related costs & groceries/rent/utilities so whatever leftover income remains is mine! We have no plans on ever marrying or having any more children.
My financial goals for this year include sticking to my budgets and maxing out my roth ira. I mainly stick to my budget but do go over the eating out and shopping categories 🤭 And I set a simple goal of just maxing out the ira because I feel like it’s attainable given my cutrent savings plan as well.

Do you get the impression the live action is treating us like utter morons?? Like I thought that making it aimed at an older audience would open the doors for more subtle story telling, but no, they're just using monologues to tell us eveything! Like in the second episode Katara's like 'oh his power isn't that he's the avatar, it's that he ~connects~ to people'. Girl we're not idiots we can see that!! And the first episode with Aang's goddawful 'I don't want this responsibility' monologue
THIS, YES. The word that keeps coming to mind is definitely "subtlety". The show for literal children? Had it. The remake for adults? Not so much.

Stacked by Joe Saul-Sehy & Emily Guy Birken
Few things in this ridiculous money mediasphere spark as much joy, hilarity, and unabashed absurdity as the Stacking Benjamins podcast, hosted by Joe Saul-Sehy and the mysterious OG. So when I heard that Joe was partnering with the ever brilliant Emily Guy Birken to write a money management guide, I threw myself into the preorder line like a bug at a windshield on i-70.
Stacked: Your Super-Serious Guide to Modern Money Management is anything but “super-serious.” And that’s exactly how I like it! They cover everything from investing 101 to retirement planning to budgeting with the kind of no-fucks-given attitude we thoroughly endorse around here. It’s not your mom’s neighbor’s dry money guide. It’s way heckin’ better.
I recommend it for both beginners and those who think they have a handle on their personal finances. I certainly learned some new shit while reading it, and again: I’m a card-carrying money nerd. It’ll hold your attention with its humor and make you learn without noticing it’s happening. If only my high school math teacher had done the same…
