Yet another average day in Family Video:

"Hey. Remember when you said that you'd totally fuck Jonathan."

"When...? Oh, yeah. What the fuck that was literally a month ago why are you mentioning that now?"

"Because that was the same conversation we decided to get the matching tramp stamps. And trying to hide those from my parents is a literal pain in the ass. Pun fully intended. I can't even sit straight and-"

"I'd say you can't do anything straight"

"Not like I can do anything str- fuck you"

Steve swaggers to the back and takes out the whiteboard they purchased together - on ROBIN'S SUGGESTION may he add.

"Can't believe you're losing in your own game. About bad jokes. And being gay. Which are basically your two only personality traits."

Robin's side is embarrassingly empty. He sees it as cosmic karma for her you-suck-game during their scoops ahoy era.

"Alright mister little bitch"

"And yet, this little bitch is beating you in your own game"

Robin shows him the finger. Steve bites the finger because he is a little shit and things like boundaries and personal space have already lost all meaning between the two of them.

In this moment the front doors open. The elderly man takes one look at the scene before him and leaves without a word.

"Where did the Jonathan thing come from?"

"Dunno. I was bored. Thought it'd be funny to see you go through a gay crisis."

"Not much of a crisis if I already admitted to it."

"You're no fun."

"Really? That was not what my dad said three months ago. According to him I am a fucking joke."

"Coming from Harrington Senior that's honestly a compliment"

"Please remind me of that the next time I radio you at 3 am. Who is on tape duty?"

"I did it last time."

"Alright" Steve nods towards the small pile of romcoms they have pointedly not been reshelving for the last half an hour. "Enjoy your alone time in the romance section."

"Do you think it would be an invasion of privacy if we checked who returned all that? It was either an epic girls night of an awful breakup." Her voice gets fainter as she moves to the back of the store.

"Nah. We're in the land of the free or whatever. Wait, let me do it"

"You're only saying that so you can procrastinate asshole"

"Does that mean you don't want to know who took them? Because I promise you, you really really do."

"Don't ask if you already know the answer dingus"

"Guess"

"Ummm....power bottom."

"What?"

"Like with Jonathan. Would you rather he call the shots or the other way around?"

She makes a series of incomprehensible movements that are probably supposed to represent intercourse between two men.

"This is the reason god made you a lesbian"

"And thank him for that. Amen."

"Why are you so obsessed with Jonathan anyway."

"You're deflecting"

"Yeah sure, I am deflecting. C'mon, Buckley. Resume or later?"

"Who was the one who took all the romcoms?"

"If I tell you, will you tell me what's really going on?"

"Depends on your answer."

"I thought you weren't interested in my sex life? Every time-"

In this moment the door opens again. Two girls come in, arm in arm. One is wearing a look that can only be described as disgust, the other is clearly trying to hold in laughter with moderate success.

Over the course of many painful months of customer service (plus surviving an interrogation by the actual Russian secret service) Steve and Robin have developed the ability to hold entire conversations without speaking a single word. It is a very neat talent to have when they want to make fun of someone right in front of them. It is less neat when he is the target.

Robin raises her brows. C'mon dingus, tell these random ass girls about your sex life since you're so proud of it.

Steve frowns in response. Yeah, sure Mrs. Never Even Had A First Kiss.

Robin narrows her eyes. I did have a first kiss. Even if it was absolutely horrible.

Steve puts on his most insufferable expression. You yourself said that it doesn't count. No need to be so jealous Buckley.

Robin rolls her eyes. Alright, I want to see you trying to find a-

"Do you have ET?", Robin doesn't say because, oh yeah, they've got actual customers.

Steve solemnly informs them that ET is current out of stock, but that it should be returned in two days. Robin somehow manages to force her last two movies upon them. They leave with a dazed look on their face that Steve can relate to. Sometimes Robin will start talking and the next thing you know you have a tramp stamp.

"Tommy Hagan"

Robin looks absolutely disgusted. "Tommy Hagan?! You would kiss Tommy Hagan? And then you have the audacity to make fun of my taste in women?!"

"First of all: me and Hagan? Been there done that." Robin looks as if her entire worldview was just flipped upside down. "Second: probably not, he uses a bit too much tongue for my liking. I mean that Tommy Hagan was the one who rented all the romcoms"

Robin takes a moment to process this information. Then she dramatically falls to the floor and squirms around in laughter like a bug on its back trying to get up again. Truly a drama kid through and through.

"And thirdly: for your information, I super could make out with Jonathan Byers. Unlike you, I've got game"

"You don't mean gay-me?"

Steve rolls his eyes and takes out the whiteboard again. He is still in the lead.

"And also, excuse you, I totally could make out with Nancy if I wanted to, okay?! I'm just not a homewrecker unlike some other people"

"Excuse me? I was the one who was cheated on?!"

"I'm insulting your taste, dingus"

"Rich coming from you, since we apparently share the same one"

For a moment she looks confused. Then she thinks back to what she said. Steve can pinpoint the exact moment she realizes it.

"Is this the reason you want me to be into Jonathan so bad? Because you're into Nancy?" Steve feels like a smug cat when her entire upper body grows red.

"Shut up she's just pretty okay?!"

"And badass. Don't forget badass."

"Oh my god I know. Ever since I saw her shooting I haven't been able to get her out of my mind."

"Right?! And as if that isn't enough, she has to go and be smart too! Like, c'mon, she has to have some faults. Some downsides. Nobody is that prefect!"

"Oh my god I know! And-"

They continue like that for a while. Time runs away from them and suddenly Hellfire Club is over and Steve's kids (minus Max, he notes with a heavy heart) are barging into the place as if they own it, for no reason other than to be absolute menaces.

"And like. Robin. She was so hot in that moment. I swear to-"

"Who are you talking about?". Steve is used to Dustin being a rude little shit and automatically answers without even thinking about it. "Nancy."

He realizes his mistake too late. He looks up. Mike's eyes are wide in horror. "I hate you so fucking much" he says before turning around and leaving.

Robin sighs. "I guess that is the downside."

finally online and thinking about how little will does in every instance we see jane being bullied. he’s no stranger to how shitty it feels to be singled out like that, to be berated and belittled, and yet all he does is stand there and watch, then try to help pick up the pieces only after it’s over. i know the suffer brothers have forgotten lonnie byers exists at this point but i unfortunately have not, and in cases of bullies both at school and at home most of his life, will never learned how to fight back. indignance is a fruitless endeavor, inconsequential to a man like lonnie, to kids grappling with adult hierarchies on the playground, to mind flayers prying their way in your head. anger is even scarier, something that always made his mom upset and his brother shut down like a machine powered off when it spewed from his dad.

he tries to learn fight instead of flight for the first time ever at 13 years old, and it just so happens to be in the face of an otherworldly monster. it’s an atrophied muscle since tantrums as a toddler were answered with intoxicated tantrums of the man of the house, and it’s never properly gotten the chance to build its strength up, or even believe it can. will knows this. of course he does, and it’s a contributing factor to his everpresent struggle in not feeling like a burden, a hassle to have around in his loved ones’ lives, so he tries to compensate with comfort, but by nature, it never feels like enough. not when the thing about comfort is that it happens after the hurt, never before, never prevents it. standing by when he knows exactly what kind of hurt jane’s feeling, and doing nothing, feels like a betrayal. if he intervened, it’s not like it would stop it from happening again, but even trying and failing would be better than nothing. considering all the times jane has saved his life and his family and friends’ before she even met him, it is quite literally the least he could do.

but it’s a trauma response, to freeze. one built from the crib to the upsidedown, to lock up or run away. he’s gotten better at the latter, but the progress is hard to feel when faced with jane’s misery by himself, without even the party that always helped him cope with his own bullies at his back.

ok but literally can we talk abt how stupid st season 3's opening was. oh my god. i was genuinely so pissed that they put a fucking MEGAMALL in HAWKINS that i stopped watching almost immediately

Mike, can you tell us your experience premiering Oculus at tiff 2013? I recently saw Perri Nemiroff’s interview with you (looking like a baby btw- so young) and it made me think about what your mindset must have been as in getting yo experience the launch of your career, post Absentia, at one of the most prestigious festivals.

Oh, I remember that very well... a lot changed in a very short amount of time. And I think I know the interview you're talking about, I keep trying to link to it here but it doesn't take...

So there are few things to point out about Oculus and about what was happening in my life at the time. When Oculus got greenlit, I was working full time as a reality television editor. I used to sneak out of my job at lunch to go to "doctor's appointments" whenever I had to come for production meetings or casting sessions (they started to think there was something really, really wrong with my health).

Making the movie was an amazing learning experience - it was my first "real" movie, and full of lessons. It was the first collaboration with people who would become pillars of my career moving forward, like producer Trevor Macy (who is now my partner at Intrepid Pictures and who has produced everything I've ever made since) and my DP Michael Fimognari, who is one of the most important collaborators of my life. It was also the first time I worked with a young actress named Kate Siegel, who played the spooky ghost in the mirror.

We went into TIFF with distribution already in place. FilmDistrict had committed to the project during the Cannes market before we shot the movie, so we thought we were set. It was going to be my big theatrical debut.

Just before we premiered at TIFF, FilmDistrict abruptly and bafflingly dropped the film. I still don't really know why. They had committed to a worldwide theatrical release for the movie, but for reasons that were never made entirely clear to me, they dropped us just before the festival. Suddenly the whole enterprise was in jeopardy, and I didn't know if anyone would pick the movie back up.

I was absolutely terrified.

Being my first "real" movie, I didn't really know how this world worked and couldn't understand why our distributor didn't want to release it. We'd made the movie they had been excited about, they seemed to really like it, and we'd done everything they asked - it was a shock to the system. So when we rolled into tiff, we were homeless and trying not to let FilmDistrict's abrupt change of heart poison our chances of another sale.

I had never been to TIFF before but heard about Midnight Madness, which had seen huge sales from Cabin Fever and Insidious. Bidding wars had broken out while the films were still screening. But being part of the program was absolutely no guarantee of distribution - in fact, this might be the highest this movie would ever rise.

Trevor Macy and I went to the world premiere of The Green Inferno, which was playing the night before we played, and the audience was ROWDY. Like, shouting and hollering throughout the movie. We looked at each other with wide, nervous eyes - if this was the Midnight Madness audience, they were going to hate our movie the next day. We were considerably slower, ponderous, and atmospheric in a room that seemed to demand visceral, overt entertainment. I left the screening feeling dejected and a little doomed. Trevor was more upbeat, citing conversations he'd had with the programmer, Colin Geddes, who assured us he'd put our movie in the best possible spot for its success.

Our screening was September 9th, 2013 at midnight. I was petrified, and we were sold out. I remember walking into the theater feeling like this was the most important screening of my life. I wasn't alone, thank goodness. Trevor Macy, Michael Fimognari, Brenton Thwaites, Katee Sackhoff, Rory Cochrane, and James Lafferty were on hand. The film seemed to play well. It was the opposite of the screening the night before, which Colin had told us would happen - "watch," he had said. "The Saturday night slot is the big crazy one. You guys are Sunday, and it's going to be completely different. They'll plug right in."

He was right. You could hear a pin drop for most of the first half, and then there were moments of scattered applause that picked up as the film progressed. By the end, people were jumping in their seats and cheering for young Tim and Kaylee. There was an audible gasp when the anchor swung. And the applause at the credits seemed heartfelt and loud.

Most of that is a blur for me. I found this grainy pic from the Q&A after the film. I still had no idea how it had gone, or what was going to come out of it. I remember having hard time putting words together, and I vividly recall feeling like I sounded like an absolute moron whenever I talked, and trying to pass the microphone over to the actors as often as I could.

It's tough to see everyone in the pic, but from left to right it is Colin Geddes, Michael Fimognari, myself, Trevor Macy, Katee Sackhoff, Brenton Thwaites, Rory Cochrane, and James Lafferty.

When I stepped out of the theater, though, I became aware that everything had changed. I was immediately surrounded by people who had seen the film, suddenly shaking a ton of hands and realizing that it had been a hit. I walked into the theater by myself, utterly anonymous, and feeling every bit like an imposter. But everything was different when I walked out. I remember someone from the press talking about it years later, and saying "I was there that night - you walked into the theater with nothing, and walked out with a career."

People were asking me to sign stuff. That had never happened in my life. People wanted to get pictures. It was SO. FUCKING. WEIRD. Someone snapped a picture during that little whirlwind, and you can see it on my (young, skinny, hopelessly naive) face - an overall bewilderment, a gentle disbelief that this was happening:

I loved my experience at TIFF. And it absolutely started everything. Relativity, Blumhouse, and WWE Films joined forces to make an offer on the movie at the festival, and we left with a theatrical distribution deal. My career had officially begun. Now, I wouldn't feel like it had for several more years - I remained in fight/flight/survival mode well through Gerald's Game - but in retrospect, yes, that's when it happened.

Thank you for asking this question, it's been a while since I've looked back at this period of my life. It kinda makes me want to watch that movie again. It has been a LONG time, and I owe it a lot.

hi i’m gonna yap about Five Nights at Freddy’s

cw abuse, murder

okay so i rlly am just gonna spill my noggin rn cause it’s late and im Thinking.

so basically i’m trying to rlly put together my au here, greg centric cause im soooo hyperfixated on him rn.

ik security breach is supposed to be set in the future or smth but im not having none of that no siree it’s either gonna be set in present day or time ambiguous with 80s-early 2000s vibes!! but also like the timelines so messed up just ignore it for now (for story reasons mike, will, evan, elizabeth, etc. are all here too alive in well. it’s kinda like a timeline splurge.)

greg grows up in a pretty unstable home. he loves his mom a lot even tho she’s distant and not the greatest. greg’s dad was abusive so she left, taking him with her. from there on she just kinda floats from guy to guy, a lot of them rlly abusive towards both her and greg. when he’s young, one of the men end up pulling a gun on his mom, greg’s only like 7 so he obviously goes to call the police but the man throws him out and locks the door. gregory spends hours pounding on the door trying to get back in. it starts to rain and he’s cold, hungry, and scared. enter everyone’s favorite william afton!!!

very much midnight motorist. the purple car pulls up on the road behind him. william gets out to lend a hand. he can’t just let this little guy sit here in the rain!!! greg’s not like the other kids, he’s cautious and jumpy and doesn’t talk to strangers. greg’s seen him around, heard stories.

will offers to give him a ride, a dry set of clothes, but it’s clear the kids not having it.

right as will goes to grab him, the neighbors come out. williams forced to hand him over, posing as a good samaritan.

he’s seen him before. he’s in evan’s grade. he makes sure to keep an eye on him, just doing his part!

gregory ends up going in and out of some pretty bad foster families, getting kicked out, sent back, etc. after a particularly bad run that left him with a lot of physical/emotional scars, gregory runs away.

he makes it a week. cold, tired, sick, and hungry before who other than good ol bill afton shows up!!!! gregory has no other choice but to accept his offer. will takes advantage of greg’s situation and background. he lets him get into the diners and plex free of charge, even lets him beta test some of the games!!! no wonder he gets such high scores :) wills given him so much, the least he could do in return is let him use his mind sometimes!!

basically from here the entirety of ggy happens, accept greg’s finally able to snap out of it before killing tony. afton/glitchtrap gives him a choice. him or tony. the next day tony wakes up in his bed with no recollection of the night before and greg’s desk at school empty. cassie calls tony crying, having heard her dad mention an “incident” at work. gregorys missing posters go up around hurricane days later.

sb takes place and gregory is missing a lot in his memory. he knows who he is, some of his friends, but that’s about it. he’s still living on the streets and since summer started he no longer gets school lunches and amenities so he sneaks into the plex.

i think its time for me to come back to my origins:

shitty spiderbit villain isekai au

Cw suicide idealization? Kinda? Nothing too realistic or explicit but there is a little bit

First, there's Cellbit, the 'villain'

-Was tricked by Mike into watching shitty fantasy harem anime #1413 (Mike doesn't like this type of anime, but he does like to see Cellbit suffering)

-And suffer he did, he was almost pulling his hair out when the first episode ended, and really did it when the opening spoiled the little mystery there was in the show

-He went to sleep balding mad and woke up in the body of 5 years old Farael, the prince of Embersland Kingdom, brother of Bagriela whom he is fighting for the crown

-There's also this voice in his head telling him that he needs to follow the plot and shit and he's just like- what the fuck do you even mean by this, I wanna out, get me the fuck outta here

-'Follow the plot and it may be considered to send you back', it says, and Cellbit obviously argues with it because 'Don't fuck with me like that, get me out of here right now' and 'No sorry can't do', 'What I have to do to go back? Send me back right now' and it's this back and forth until the system is tired enough to just say 'Die by the hero's blade and we'll send you back' and Cellbit's like 'Ok fine'

-It's not really fine because it will take at least two decades before he will be able to be killed by the hero, but it's something more concrete than a simple possibility so he will take it

-So he starts preparing to be a villain, quite successfully if you may allow him. And the worst part is that he really ends up as a 'good' villain, winning the crown from Bagi, organizing an army, making evil plans full of twists and turns, neglecting the people, all in all he is a decent villain for a bellow average harem anime

-(Btw, there are some reason why a 'normal' person from the real world ends up being so good at being evil, that includes: he's already something of a freak, he thinks this is just a shitty harem anime, he never had any contact with other people that aren't nobility or servants except for a single instance. He really wants to go back, he thinks nothing in this world matters, and it's part of his bucket list so...)

And then there's Roier, the 'hero'

-He's just a peasant boy living in a frontier town, abandoned by his father, mother died during childbirth, raised by his old abuelo

-He does odd jobs around town and helps in the adventurers guild, going in a small quest here and there, nothing too big despite him being quite good with a sword

-That is, until Bagis busts into the guild asking for help to defeat her brother before he does even worse than he already did, of course for a handsome reward

-But everyone there knows how much of a tyrant King Farael is, and how they'll end up with their salted heads hung in the public square if they do anything against him so no one accepts it

-Roier comes in late, and Bagi begs for him to help her... he really doesn't want to, but money's tight and he really needs it because abuelo has been getting worse recently and there's not a lot else he can do (Saving the kingdom is just a bonus for him)

-And so they go out on this quest, they recruit some other people during the way (In the original anime they're all woman and part of his 'harem') and plan how to end King Farael's reign of terror once and for all

-Syke! Cellbit kidnaps Roier when they're near the capital and brings him to a 'dinner' to monologue to him about his evil plans (It's to motivate Roier to really kill him, he can't be imprisoned or exiled, he has to be killed)

-Anyways they get a little frisky and end up in a knife fight where Roier cuts Cellbit's mask in half and oh shit! This guy, tyrant King Farael is Roier's first crush! He knows he is, his blue eyes are the same as he remembers!

-The rescue party arrives at the castle and saves Roier, while he is slightly confused about the villain

-It's not even about the puppy crush he had on him, even if it did help him think about the situation from a slightly different angle, it's more like how his evil plan now sounds like a very elaborated suicide attempt

-Well, if this is what the villain wants, then he won't let him have it!

-Meanwhile Cellbit is surprised Roier remembers him, but is otherwise happy because he thinks now Roier has even more reasons to kill him

... and that's all I have until now

went back to the scene in season 2 during the wheeler’s dinner, where karen is scolding mike for taking nancy’s money and lists him some of the things he’s done throughout the year and how this isn’t even strike three. maybe this is a reach, but i have a pretty cemented view on karen as a mother so… what karen says is “we’ve been patient michael” and for some reason that rang the alarms in my brain.

because karen says “we’ve been patient” as in “we’ve given you time and tolerated your bad behavior” and that just sits wrong with me. karen doesn’t say “we’ve been patient and understanding” or “we’ve been patient and there for you, but we can’t do more if you don’t work with us”. no. karen says “we’ve been patient” and then “this isn’t strike one. it’s not even strike three” and that sounds to me as in “we’ve given you time to lick your own wounds and we’ve overlooked your behaviour that clearly is a sign that something is wrong, but you still can’t get over the traumatic experience you went through on your own last year” a reach? maybe, but aligns with my view of karen.

it’s like back in season 1 when mike skips school and karen finds him at home. mike is so worried she’ll be mad at him (because it’s happened before that karen ignored mike being sick and sent him to school either way), but this time karen tells him she isn’t mad because she knows mike must be going through a lot with everything happening with will, and that’s where the scene stops. i don’t remember if this is the scene where she offers mike to go with her to get some shopping done or not and mike rejects her or what (i think that’s a different scene), but my point here is that karen sees mike is portraying an odd behavior (staying at home without telling anyone), she gives him a small talk, and then tolerates/overlooks said behavior. she doesn’t dig deeper to find the cause of said behavior, she just assumes she knows it and allows mike to act on it instead of truly being there for him with actions and not just words.

so when mike in season two is having all these problems at school with his bad behavior, karen is patient with him and overlooks it or doesn’t present any consequences to mike’s actions, letting him be and expecting him to get better with the power of time alone. and when mike doesn’t get better and karen deems she’s given him enough time, she punishes mike for not living up to expectations and not healing at the pace she set even though she’s not actively tried to help mike through his process. same with ted btw this applies for both of them.

mike’s parents set a timer on mike for him to heal of the trauma he underwent, and leave him alone to process it and heal from it on his own. or at least that’s what i get from that exchange at the table.

maybe i’m reaching, but i wouldn’t be surprised if mike’s parents did something like this…

oh, and this applies for nancy too with her trauma regarding barb’s death. we see nancy telling karen no one is listening to her, because it is true! when nancy was being interrogated and the cops paid more attention to a teen’s sexual life than the disappearance of yet another kid in town, karen didn’t have nancy’s back.

instead, once they go back home, karen reprimands nancy for lying to the cops and because she had sex with steve. karen is following her own agenda not seeing her daughter’s distress for her best friend, and nancy has to explode at her saying no one is listening.

and then in season two, knowing nancy’s friend is still missing, karen and ted still show no behavior of caring about nancy’s trauma or keeping an eye on nancy’s behavior and the signs that show she’s not okay. nancy returned home with alcohol spilled all over her, drunk out of her mind, brought back by a guy that isn’t her boyfriend late at night, and her parents didn’t notice a thing? and then nancy managed to go to murray’s house and spend the night away without any alarms activating in karen and ted’s head? even though nancy IS struggling with her trauma and guilt, so this is the moment for karen and ted to keep an eye in nancy’s behavior so they can be there for them. but they don’t, they just overlook because they expect things to be over and for their kids to have healed already. they aren’t involved in their process of healing, they just stand on the side and wait for their kids to push their way through.

just like how karen said “he’ll come to us when he’s ready,” she and ted keep waiting for their kids to be ready on their own and seek them out instead of being there for them.

if you are ever mad at him it's because he said something sarcastic but it didn't sound like it or he said something "bad" about you. (bad meaning he was trying to defend you but he said " she is oblivious at times... "

He would bring you flowers and mixtapes of his and your favorite songs and explains the context to apologize and you immediately forgive him.

Would he get comfy with you quickly? Answer: for him I feel like he would warm up to you in like 1 month of dating he wants to get to know you so much so he knows what makes you comfy so he can be the best boyfriend ever.

so i think the main thing about nancy is that shes just idk sort of selfish in a way even if she doesn’t like mean to be, she just is (and thats fine! character flaws are cool.)

like i can’t remember what episode but i know it was before barbs death she was complaining about how inconvenient will going missing is or some shit. which yknow not the best way to react to your brother’s friend going missing (yikes)

i think like barbs death is an obvious example of her being kind of selfish, but when she realizes oh shit barbs gone shes literally does everything she can to save her (also note thats when she got involved in wills whole situation)

she gets to kill the demogorgan and it feels good getting revenge for barb

but its still not enough her best friends gone but will isnt will got saved.

and idk i think thats sort of the reason why shes very distant towards mike (why do you get to keep yours and i have to lose mine?) obviously she cant be mad at will so she has to be mad at mike.

in season 2 she like very obviously does wanna be with steve because barb’s basically haunting that relationship. she cant look at steve without feeling bad about barb (not to mention she literally has meals with barb’s parents with him)

and the her and jonathan find some sketchy shit the governments doing and so nance is like maybe if i like expose this i can avenge her again and i can stop feeling guilty all the time so she does that and she feels good for awhile but its not permanent and before she knows it she feels shitty again

in season 3 she’s dealing with alot not only is she dealing with the guilt of barbs death now she’s dealing with the patriarchy (cant she catch a break)

another thing to add is how she selfishly plans to investigate the rat thing (i forgor what exactly it was) and gets herself and jonathan fired. and her whole argument with him which was genuinely so awful of her.

she has a cute little girl power moment with her mom (its weird tbh because on one hand slay feminism on the other its like girl 🤨)

and she starts investigating again then the mind flayers back and i genuinely think a part of her was like maybe if i kill it i can actually avenge barb this time.

then her and jonathan reconcile which btw she doesn’t apologize about her oliver twist comment (idk who to blame her or the writers)

but along the way mike argues with max and yknow instead of defending your brother like a normal sister, shes on maxs side. and its just heartbreaking to see honestly.

they’re literally siblings but they act like they only know each other through a mutual friend (if that makes sense) and i just know in some universe her and mike stop talking. she has a positive relationship with literally everyone in the party except her brother :(

oh and in season 4 her whole plan to kill vecna she was like hey this is the real bitch who killed her let me avenge her again so she makes a plan where she can be the one to kill him so she can be the hero it doesn’t work

(also note the fact that she doesn’t hug mike when they reunite)

idk if i did her justice with this ‘analysis’. idk my thoughts are really scattered when it comes to her also i haven’t rewatched this show in so long so

also wanted to say this i feel like the fandom has a really black and white sense of morality when it comes to the characters which is weird because whats the fun that like flaws make character’s really good also theres this added element of her being a girl and how girls are literally not allowed to be given flaws or else they’re immediately categorized as a bitch by people

IT/TUA Crossover

Okay I've been bouncing this idea around in my head for a while and I want to share my thoughts. I also kinda want to write this into a oneshot but we will see. Also this is only a crossover in the sense that the Losers are in the place of the TUA fam. So like what would happen if the Losers were the ones born with the marigold and adopted by Reginal Hargreeves. I mean....both TUA and IT have seven main characters so how could I not try to merge the two?

Anyways moving on to who get's what marigold (powers) and I have some maybe controversial opinions

I'm not basing this on the TUA character's personalities, just their powers btw

AAAA also for those not familiar with TUA, the numbers don't really matter, like just because someone is "Number 1" doesn't necessarily make them the leader

Number 1 with the power of strength should be Mike and my reasoning for this is because Mike has a strong heart and he would love his adopted siblings (the Losers) and would use his strength to protect them- also Mike staying at the academy the longest, hoping his family would come back

Number 2 who's power is uhhhh how do you word that? Super Aim? Basically he never misses AND he can stop something in motion in it's tracks, like bullets fired from a gun- Anywho I think this should be Ben. I feel bad bc this is my least favorite power (but I LOVE Deigo) but I like the idea of Ben being a knife guy, it's outta pocket and no one would expect it

Number 3- Mind control- Miss little "I heard a rumor" is definitely Bev. I don't have to say much about this, but Bev using her rumor power to get ahead and be one of the most successful people in Hollywood- not that she needs much help. But also like how Luther and Allison have that weird relationship, her and Ben would have that too

Number 4, the power to commune with the dead and *Spoilers for TUA season 3* the power to come back to life after dying. This is where I get a little controversial but hear me out...I feel like this should be Bill. Unlike his TUA counterpart Klaus, Bill would channel his fear of ghosts into writing and he becomes a bestselling authors selling stories that the ghosts tell him. In an interview he gets asked how he comes up with these ideas and he just shrugs "They just come to me" and meanwhile the ghost who told him the story is yelling at him. I do think that LIKE Klaus he would distance himself from his family

Number 5 who can teleport and time travel is obviously Stan. Stan is literally an 85 year old man in a 13 year olds body. Stan is already a little unhinged but getting lost in time, seeing THREE apocalypses and constantly trying to save his hairbrained family. Five in TUA IS Stan. An old soul who loves his family but also wants to murder them because they somehow keep causing the world to end. Also Stan would be so mad at himself that he hasn't mastered time travel since teleporting came so naturally to him

Number 6, the ability to summon tentacles out of his chest is Richie. Which also means Richie is dead. RIP. He's dead for everyone else but Bill can NOT get rid of him. Remember Bill talks to the dead? Richie would be following him around and aggravating Bill every chance he gets. Bill acts annoyed but he is happy he gets to talk to his technically dead brother while the rest of his adopted siblings had to mourn him. Just imagine all of the BICHIE friendship moments I could write if I wrote this ship. Richie would make so many dead jokes

Number 7, the power to turn sound waves into energy is Eddie. Poor Eddie who was constantly told he didn't have any powers bc Reggie was terrified of them. Jokes on Reggie. Eddie ended the world. Twice. And he's the strongest one of the bunch. I feel like that would be a strong character moment for him

I want write parts of this AU, I love it. Who knows if I'll ever find the time. Also yes ik there's spelling/grammar errors. I am tired

Realizing that the fandom's perception of characters and plot is even more racist and ridiculous 🥴 like imma kms if i hear another post mentioning how Mike is gonna save Max or plan the thing even tho it is lucas and el's plot

Lucas is Mike's therapist. Max is his best friend. Dustin looks up to him. Will can't live without him. El wants him and him only. There's 1k+ notes posts about how he needs to be smug again and return to his "Physics. Bitch!" era or whatever. When the same season had Dustin and Erica doing the most work and Suzie later on clinching it for the team and Lucas literally coming up with the idea to distract the mind flayer TWICE.

S4 Argyle (and Suzie) does everything and people still yapping on about the pen and him thinking about Suzie (more in the genre of him thinking of using El to save Will in S1 or whatever.) Karen's son is a manager. Let's face it. Is he brave? Yes. Is he EVERYTHING? Not on netflix.com.

Conformism is the Wheeler arc but per usual Mike still hasn't learned his lesson. Lucas meanwhile got an extra credit and a busted face for no reason. Erica (an 11 year old) was literally jumped on by an 18 y.o. and that's somehow not worthy of discussion. "They're accidentally racist" but they're great o/w was an actual take of actual persons. Which fair enough, but I disagree.

Kali is evil for doing everything for an entitled little fuck who went to her btw and apparently "stole her choice" or some adjacent crap (when canonically the reverse happened, but we watch the show upside down for our jack jack of a protagonist.)

Trauma exists for a few characters and is brought up on convenience in fandom and almost never on the show.

Mike is depressed (in S2 end of), suicidal (never), neglected (nope), was subjected to homophobic bullying (fanfic), wrote letters and called incessantly and so Will's a cunt (not enough I say), all fiction for fiction.

Lucas and Dustin sexuality is actually to underline Mike's homosexuality. (Genre: No) Idek why Lucas exists atp. Only for Mad and Wheeler. And maybe El now in S5. 🤷‍♀️

The less we speak about Patrick the better aligned to canon, cuz he got nothing. Thank you for your service. You'll be forgotten immediately.

The fandom will rise up and be cunty when someone criticises Duffers for an OBJECTIVELY boring, regurgitated, non-side plot but will stay silent about valid criticisms regarding the writing in regards to race and female characters on ST. Take offence for some, not get off the fence for others. 🤷‍♀️

What can I say? The show is reaching it's target audience.

Talking about books, they´re the reason you met Eddie “the freak” Munson

One day you were at the library reading a fantasy novel and waiting for Jason´s practice to finish, meanwhile Eddie was there looking for a book with Mike and Dustin.

“Nice book, but the second is better” Eddie said to you.

“I know, this is the third time I’m reading it” You answered without looking up. The first time you saw Eddie´s eye was when he introduced himself to you. Since then you both enjoy talking about fantasy. He would explain D&D to you and you would talk about your favorite fantasy books.

A friendship (and hopefully more) made in heaven.

Until one day Jason came up to your room because it seems Eddie killed Chrissy (your half-brother´s girlfriend).

Which shocked you

Eddie? The same Eddie who couldn´t annotate on one of your books because he felt he would ruin it?

Impossible.

Jason knew about your friendship and crush on Eddie, so he did what other weird intense brothers would do. Lock you in your room so you wouldn’t go to Eddie´s.

And you did what other siblings would do.

Escape from the window.

There’s only one place where Eddie would be and you know it.

When you arrived you quickly spotted Eddie hiding.

“I knew I would find you here”

“What are you doing here? Did you guide your brother to me” Eddie looked so betrayed it broke your heart

So he told you everything without dropping your hand.

Some hours passed until you heard voices

Especially your brother´s voice.

While Eddie tried to find a way to escape, you went to your brother

"(y/n)? what are you doing here?!" Jason asked angrily

"I´m here to defend my friend Jason, he did nothing wrong so you better step away"

You two were fighting until Jason saw Eddie behind you, making him madder than he was.

That made him push you to the ground and hit your hand with a rock

And oh boy, Eddie saw that and his eyes were R E D

“How dare you throw them like that Carver!?!?”

And he came towards you to help you stand up and put you behind him in a protective move

Loverboy is mad

“Put your dirty hands on them and I´ll send you to Satan himself”

Damn, that´s hot coming from Eddie.

When you saw Jason was ready to fight Eddie you put yourself between the two men

“Jason! Listen, he´s innocent. Something pretty bad is happening in Hawkins, you have to believe me”

Jason didn´t believe you

Until one of Jason´s friends started to float above the air.

Eddie covered your face since he knew what was coming next.

The bones started going from one way to another, the sounds were horrible, the mouth went to the side, the eyes exploded and finally, the body came down with a strong sound it made you shiver.

“See Carver?” Eddie asked accusingly. “It wasn´t me”

Jason looked at his friend´s body and then looked at Eddie blankly

“How can I help to stop this Munson?”

In another episode of Robin (yes my name is Robin if you didn't know, but y'all can call me Nixie) spreading the Mike Wheeler aroace agenda: Reasons why I think Mike is greyromantic!

Again, this is going to be a bit summarized because I'm saving more detailed stuff for an actual post I want to do! I'll try to write here the important points, though <3

Btw, here's the first part of this little study!!

(Please keep arophobic comments to yourselves! Aromantic people can still date, it's a complex identity! And yes, I do still ship Byler even if I think Mike is aromantic).

Greyromantic: A common reason someone may identify as greyromantic is that they experience romantic attraction but very infrequently. Some greyromantic individuals may only feel romantic attraction once or twice in their life. Others may experience it more frequently, but still not as frequently as alloromantic individuals.

Just like I said on my post about Mike being asexual, I think he shows little to no interest in dating or falling in love. Especially for romantic cliche stuff. For starters, using the same argument I used for him being ace: Dustin and Lucas show interest in dating. I'm not talking about girls. I'm talking about dating. They are the type of kids who'd fight over the girl (Max, or even that princess from that game in the Arcade) while Mike doesn't give a fuck. He just doesn't care. My guy is just, not only vibing, but rolling his eyes at his allo friends.

Going back to what I said in my Ace post about Stancy: Mike shows so so much disgust when it comes to romantic stuff! And it's not only because Nancy is his sister, it's because he just doesn't see the appeal. He doesn't like it. He doesn't feel it. It's completely normal seeing s1 Mike react like that, especially when he isn't as repressed as he is in s3. He straight up expresses how little he feels connected to romantic love. And don't tell he that "he's just a kid- Kids say stuff like that" because I can confirm that the other two dumbasses love romance. Lucas is a gentleman and Dustin is a hopeless clingy romantic. Since s1. Mike just... Doesn't like it. And that's okay.

In s1 Lucas says something about Mike only liking El because she's the only girl who doesn't feel repulsed by him. And he's... He's completely right! Slay, Lucas. Slay. Because Mike doesn't show romantic interest for El! Like at all! He saw a lost girl as an opportunity to both find Will and feel like a normal kid, and he took it. Because he doesn't really like El romantically. As an aromantic person I can confirm with absolute certainty that Mike pushed himself to like El because everyone talked about crushes and girls and he... Didn't feel it. He felt like an outcast. And so he started to make himself think he liked El! I genuinely think Mike believes, at least in the beggining, that he likes her. He makes himself think that way, because Lucas won't stop saying he does. And Mike thinks "Well, maybe I do like her". When in reality is just the pressure of everyone asking him if he does. So he forces himself to see El romantically.

Nancy asks him if he likes El, and his immediate reaction is disgust. Like- I'm sure y'all will say it's just the way a kid would react, but he did it so quickly that it makes me think he actually meant it. But then he thought about Nancy's words and kissed El, because maybe liking her was the easy path. Been there, done that, tbh.

Season 3 is a rough time for Mike, really. Because he's clearly in love with Will and doesn't even have anything to compare his feelings to because he's never been in love! The only time he thought he was in love was with El, of course. And he doesn't feel that way for her. So the poor boy is confused because he doesn't know how romantic love actually feels, and it's for a BOY. His BEST FRIEND. It's tricky, man.

He confuses platonic love for romantic love, an experience every aromantic has been through. I do not recommend, tbh.

Mike spends all of s3 making out with El and trying to make things work after their fight because he doesn't know how to have a relationship. He only makes out with her because he doesn't know how to talk about feelings. What feelings, really? If he was actually in love with her, he could be all romantic and have serious emotional talks. But he can't. He hides himself behind kisses and make out sessions because he doesn't know how else love works or if he actually even loves El.

The kiss from the s3 finale says it all, I think. He's so, so awkward... He's clearly uncomfortable and when El tells him that she loves him? He just becomes paralyzed. And maybe I'm projecting too much, but I think that's the reaction all of us aromantics have whenever someone says those words to us romantically. The fear of not feeling the same. Of not being able to love that way. Of not being enough. My boy literally has an aromantic realization the moment El kisses him!

When s4 starts, he can't hide behind kisses now because it's all letters. And we don't see anything from his letters, but we do hear what El tells HIM which is all superficial information that has nothing to do with them being in love or missing each other. That probably means he's been doing the same thing, refusing to show emotions because he can't. Because he doesn't love El that way.

Look, I don't need to go too deep here: The whole thing about him not being able to tell her "I love you"? Queer coded af. Both gay and aro. It's literally my whole aromantic experience because you know you care a lot about that person but you don't love them. Not that way. And the mere thought of telling them makes you uncomfortable.

All s4 is what made me realize he was aro. Look at him struggling to tell his girlfriend that he loves her but still fighting for the relationship because he's scared of what would happen if he accepted himself for who he really is! Literally everything about Murray's monologue to Nancy also fits the aromantic agenda.

Okay, so about Will: Being greyro means you can fall in love. Just not as frequently as someone allo. And I'm a firm believer of Mike loving Will and only Will. And not because he's the love of his life or whatever (that too, tho) but because he just can't fall in love again. Mike loves Will and doing romantic stuff with him but wouldn't feel like that for anyone else. Or maybe he would, but again, it's a small possibility.

I can see Will, Lucas, Dustin, etc. Falling in love more times. Experiencing love in a romantic, allo way. Having crushes, too. However, I just can't see Mike doing it. I love polyam ships, but it's hard for me to picture Mike with somebody who isn't Will! And I'm a multishipper so... I just think he's aromantic. Greyro, to be precise.

I don't think I need to say anything else? s4 is enough proof but if you want to know more about aroace Mike just wait until I post my whole character study about it! <3

ok so one thing that convinced me is the scene of them kissing at the beginning of s3. its pretty subtle, i didnt notice it until someone else here pointed it out, but el tries to touch mike while kissing him and he doesnt let her. her hands are on his face and he moves them and then she goes for his chest and he moves them again. its hard to show it in just screenshots but you can see it in the very first few seconds of this clip.

another one is the fact that el was mistaken for a boy multiple times in s1. even i thought she was a boy before i watched the show bc the first thing i saw of stranger things was a gifset on here of the reveal of el in the rain a couple weeks after it came out. i knew it was about some missing boy and i thought el was him and only realized shes a girl once i watched it. anyways i wouldnt consider this substantial evidence if it werent for the fact that two characters say she looks like a boy and one mistakes her for a boy. mike might have subconsciously thought she would be a socially acceptable romantic partner that would satisfy him more than a really feminine girl would. and once el does look more feminine in s3 thats when you see how unhealthy their relationship is.

another thing is mikes reaction to max in s2. lucas and dustin are immediately attracted to her and mike’s just pissed off about it. you can argue that its bc he doesnt have el, but it could also be bc he doesnt see why lucas and dustin would be attracted to her at all and hes mad that theyre thinking so much about her when hes concerned about will.

i am SO annoying about this one. this is like the fifth time ive brought it up in an ask but listen its the answer to so many asks ive gotten. this frame:

this sells me on him being gay instead of bi bc he’s framed in the closet while el kisses him and the door perfectly divides their kiss. they could show a frame of him in a closet any time to hint at him being queer but they chose to do it specifically when el kisses him. also the fact that the closet divides their kiss perfectly indicates that the closet is the reason he’s not kissing her or saying he loves her back. that wouldnt be the case if he were bi. he may not love her but it wouldnt have anything to do with his sexuality bc he’d still like girls so framing him like this wouldnt be necessary.

lastly, i dont think mike would have a problem breaking up with her if it was simply bc he doesnt love her, not bc he doesnt like girls in general. it’s clear that mike isnt in love with el right? especially after that one-sided kiss and him having no emotional or happy response to her saying she loves him. then why is he hanging onto the relationship for so long if theres nothing there? at the very least i would think we’d see him talking to one of the guys about him not loving her or wanting to break up with her and not knowing how but instead he just stays in the relationship bc he doesnt want to accept the fact that hes gay. i think this was represented well with that one recent finn and millie interview. i forget which one of them said it but they said “its like theyre married and theres no option for divorce”. milevens threw a party when they read that line but honestly its just sad and fits this point really well.

I’ve been waiting for 2x04 bc it’s one of my faves so i should say this ep was watched after his check up where he told a nurse about it and the nurse told him he actually watched it when it aired. To which my brother went ‘well watch it again bc I have to talk to someone about it man, she *points to me* is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle.’ Anyway: ‘oh it’s pride weekend? Wait WEEKEND? Don’t you fuckers get a whole month? *points at me* dont start, that was meant lovingly’.. ‘so Godiva is like the Trixie of Libery Avenue? That reminds me i gotta watch her new youtube video..’ ‘maybe.. the reason your drink isn’t selling is that hair, sir that is outrageous!..why is he helping a homophobe. Although he’s just an employee so i get it, ill allow it one time Bri Bri’ ‘oh she has a motorcycle? I do too!
