Pairing: Yoongi x Reader ft. Squirtle

Genre: Pokemon!au, fluff, crack

Word Count: 1.1K

“You did it again.”

“Did what again?”

“Made that face. At your fan meet.”

“What face?”

“Your Squirtle face.”

You smile down at your boyfriend where he rests on the ground with his head in your lap. His eyes were closed as he sleepily soaked up the sun streaming down between the branches overhead but now he opens one eye to glare up at you. The sunlight dapples his pale skin and reflects off the earring dangling from one of his ears, throwing sparks of light across his face.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he mumbles closing his eye again.

“Oh yes you do,” you say with a chuckle. “The rest of the guys can attest to it. And it’s one of the many reasons your fans love you.”

Yoongi opens an eye again. “Just my fans?”

“You know I’m your biggest fan,” you say as you reach down to brush your fingers across his skin, moving his mint colored hair off his forehead. He sighs contentedly.

“If you really were my biggest fan, you wouldn’t tease me so much.”

You let out a chuckle, causing Yoongi to open both eyes this time. “Teasing is how I show my affection!” you exclaim.

“There are much better ways to show affection,” Yoongi says.

You peer down at him and smile. “Like what?”

You knew it was coming but his speed catches you off guard and before you can react, Yoongi has reached up to weave his fingers through your hair and pull your face down to his. By the time he lets you go, your head is spinning.

“Right,” you say breathlessly. “Yeah maybe I should try that some time.”

Yoongi’s mouth spreads wide into a gummy grin as he cups your face in his hands and starts bringing you down to him again, this time slower, gentler.

“Squirtle!”

The sudden noise makes you jump, your head ripping out of Yoongi’s grasp as you lift it to see the familiar water Pokémon waddling toward you out of the trees.

“Yoongi,” you say, “how are you in two places at once?”

With a growl, your boyfriend sits up to face the Squirtle still running toward you. “Why does it look so scared?” Yoongi asks curiously.

His question is answered a few seconds later when a ground-shaking roar cuts through the air and the trees on the other side of the clearing snap apart as a giant Kangaskhan tramples into view.

“HOLY—”

You and Yoongi scramble to your feet and take off running as fast as you can toward the opposite side of the clearing. You’re almost there when you realize your boyfriend isn’t right behind you.

“Yoongi!” you scream as you whip around.

There he is a few yards back, going much slower as he’s weighed down by the Squirtle now thrashing in his arms. The Kangaskhan isn’t far behind him and gaining ground fast.

“Come on!” you yell. “Faster!”

Yoongi hefts the Squirtle higher in his arms and grits his teeth, pumping his legs harder to gain speed. At last he reaches you and you yank him and the Squirtle into the woods and around a tree just as the Kangaskhan comes barreling in, and charges right past you.

The three of you wait until the only sound is that of your heavy breathing. Sweat coats your skin and your shoulders heave, your heart still racing even as the fear and adrenaline begin to subside.

“That was crazy,” you finally say.

“Yeah, no kidding,” Yoongi replies breathlessly.

You turn to look at him. He’s leaning back against the tree, his arms wrapped tightly still around the Squirtle that has its face buried in his chest. He rests his chin against the top of its head. You can see the poor Pokémon quivering.

“It’s okay, little guy,” Yoongi utters patting the whimpering Pokémon’s shell.

You can only watch as this rare soft side of your boyfriend comes out. It’s not that he’s never affectionate, it’s just that you’re usually on the receiving end of said affection. Being a spectator is a whole different experience. It’s a beautiful thing to see. Something you don’t want to disturb so you just stand there and watch, afraid you might spook him like a timid animal if you make any sudden movements.

The Squirtle lifts its head to meet Yoongi’s eyes and the boy smiles gently. “There ya go, buddy” he says. “You’re alright now.”

It chirps at him questioningly as he kneels down to set it carefully on the ground again. “Go back to wherever you came from and try to stay out of trouble, alright?”

The Pokémon doesn’t move at first, looking up at him with its large eyes, as if pleading with him not to make it leave. Yoongi leans down to give it a pat on the head.

“Go on, now,” he urges.

The Squirtle looks your way now and chirps at you like it wants you to help it convince Yoongi to let it stay. You look up at your boyfriend. “Uh, Yoon, I don’t think it wants to leave.”

“Well, what am I supposed to do with it?”

“I don’t know, take it home?”

“We aren’t allowed pets in my building.”

You look down at the Squirtle now and give it a sad shrug. “Sorry, little guy,” you say.

The Squirtle chirps again and waddles toward Yoongi, wrapping its short arms as far around his leg as they can go. Even with how skinny your boyfriend’s legs are, the Squirtle’s paws don’t quite touch.

“Y/N,” Yoongi says and you look up to meet his eyes. “A little help here?”

“Well, I mean, if anyone asks, it’s not your pet, maybe just your really short, stalky…oddly colored roommate,” you say.

Yoongi’s mouth spreads wide, his lips remaining tightly pressed together as he looks at you in indignation. Squirtle looks back at you as well and as your eyes move back and forth between the two, you can’t help but begin to laugh. “You seriously look exactly like Squirtle. With your hair, you’re literally twins,” you say between giggles. “You have to keep it. If for no other reason than to have a little mini Yoongi following you around. Please do this for me.”

At last, Yoongi rolls his eyes and scoops the Squirtle up in his arms. “Oh geez,” he utters then turns away from you and starts back toward the clearing with Squirtle in tow.

You’re still laughing even as the three of you make your way through the clearing and back onto the path on the other side heading toward home.

Jigglypuff has large friendly eyes and it sings a pleasant song. Its body is filled with air and Jigglypuff can deflate until it is flat. It is able to float by drawing extra air into its body. Jigglypuff uses its eyes to mesmerize opponents. Once it achieves this, it will inflate its lungs and begin to sing a soothing lullaby. Its vocal range exceeds 12 octaves, but its skill depends on the individual. Its song varies by region, and in some areas, it sounds like shouting.
