I haven't looked forwards to a character as much as I've looked forwards to Sunday. I hope he won't disappoint
#He seems potentially so my type and I love the angelic aesthetic#He seems so shady and I love that. Robin does too and I adore that too but I'm afraid of expecting too much haha#Hanabi and Black Swan are interesting in a lore kind of way but I don't like their design at all tbh#Kinda getting tired of the female characters having all the very same look. They are not even from the Xianzhou so there's no excuse#Hanabi is like a mix of Guinaifen and Tingyun come on. And I find the design of Black Swan so boring with the potential her lore had#Skirk kind of situation#Ruan Mei and Dr. Ratio have managed to interest me a lot for what I've seen in leaks#but I hadn't been waiting for them to appear as I've been looking forwards to Sunday#Other than Sunday the character I'm most looking forward to is Firefly. I don't know#I've been digging the dynamic with Blade ever since I first saw leaks about Sam‚even when I thought them seeking death and life respectively#was due to each their different ways of not being fully human with Blade being immortal due to a mistake and Sam being a robot#But now he's an immortal old man seeking death and she's a little dying girl with time against her looking for life‚#both in a way the consequence of an experiment‚ and I find that potential interesting too#Besides I find so endearing and so funny that terrifying imposing Stellaron Hunter Blade is in a group with two young girls#that bully him a bit‚ make fun of him and take his phone. Extremely into how Silver Wolf is protective of him too#In general his dynamic with the Stellaron Hunters is very nice and sweet and intriguing for what I've seen#Abfkabfn I always end up talking about Blade. What I meant is that! I'm really looking forwards to Sunday#He seems extremely Jack-coded in some ways. A bit like Jing Yuan but in some senses More and I love that sort of character#I talk too much

éta ritual (1)
Tumblr media
Summary: You didn't know why you agreed to do some stupid ritual on the first place. You've never had believe on the supernatural. Maybe you will after this encounter.
Warnings: none
A/N: oop first post, reminder this will be a yandere series. and I'm planning on making it a bit towards horror. Oh, and it's ot8 ;)
Going back to a few days ago, you really weren't paying attention to what your friends have been talking about. You were mindlessly scrolling through Instagram when Jieun, one of your oldest friends, tapped you on the shoulder.
Tumblr media
Your whole life you've never been this stressed out. Not even your siblings could make you almost faint at how stupid they were at believing stuff.
"Hey, (name)! Have you been hearing us this whole time?" She pouted. "So mean! I was explaining something fun here."
"Sorry," You sheepishly apologized. "What were you explaining again?"
Jieun smiled as she clapped her hands. "I found this website, super creepy! They have an interesting ritual where—"
"Yeah nope."
"(name)! I swear it's so interesting," Jieun smiled as she grabbed her phone, typing something for a while. "Oh wait, I forgot to turn on the VPN."
You sighed before looking at Hyein, only for her to shrug her shoulders. "It's kinda interesting, the ritual said you could potentially summon hot demons."
"That's what you focus on? Not the weird creepy ritual Jieun somehow find through an obscure internet site?"
"Hey! For the record, it wasn't me who founded it. It was Kim," Jieun wagged her finger before pulling up her phone. "See? Super creepy."
What you're looking at seems to be like one of those dark web stuff that you usually watch from YouTube. How it's supposedly blocked from any access unless you know the code or something. It's corny but it works, with how minimalist and not threatening the website.
Jieun then tapped on one of the links and there it was. The summoning ritual. It's the same as the website, minimalist in every way. It only has a few steps that you apparently should follow if you want to summon a demon. Or demons.
1. Make sure you're in an empty and dark room, prepare an unlit candle in the middle of your circle.
2. Hold hands with each other, make sure there's four to eight participants.
3. Close your eyes, don't open them. If you open them there will be consequences.
4. One of the participants will read the chants slowly and clearly.
5. Listen to your surroundings, there will be sounds.
6. If the ritual is successful, then the candle will be lit.
"Weird. Usually candles are lit before right? Then some freaky stuff happens before it's blown by a wind," You hummed.
"Or maybe a hot demon," Hyein smirked.
"Yeah, again, no."
You placed the phone back to Jieun's hand before closing it. "Jieun, I love you—"
"I know."
"—but you seriously better not be doing this. It's bullshit. It's make believe."
Jieun sighed. "I know, but it's been so boring lately that I've been searching for stuff to do in our free time. And when Kim offered us to do the ritual I can't just reject the offer!"
University was closed for a few weeks. You don't know for sure but whispers around the hall said it's related to someone's death. Who's death? You don't know for sure. You don't even know if it's a rumor or the truth. But then again, free from stress and annoying professors? Sounds like a good time for you.
You hummed before stopping. "What do you mean by offered?"
"It means," Hyein started. "That Jieun and I already agreed to do the ritual, and you're going with us!"
"What?!"
That's how you find yourself in some abandoned building that Kim found, with the printed instruction held on Hyein's hand. She hands the paper to Jieun, who excitedly grabbed it before facing the both of you.
Jieun squealed. "This is going to be so awesome!"
"Of course. If we succeed, then we'll have the experience of a life time," Kim hummed as she grabbed the candle from her bag. You glared at her from the corner of your eyes, not liking how calm and reserved she is.
You've never been close with Kim. Only Hyein and Jieun were close to her because they have the same course in university. Sure she's nice to you, but she somehow always unnerves you at times when she just stared into oblivion without blinking. Even then you could still sometimes hear her mumbling something, like she's talking to someone. She wasn't like this when you first met her, this strange behavior only started when university got closed off.
You tried to dwell your nervousness and slowly walked to the rest as they sat around in a circle. You sit between Hyein and Kim, ignoring the shiver you got when you noticed how cold her hand's were. You ignored her when she glanced at you a few times, focusing at how Jieun was practically moving with excitement.
"Ok, I have the papers in front of me. It's already dark, so now we just have to close our eyes."
You exhaled before closing your eyes. You're scared of the dark but at least you're holding hands with someone to know they're still there. Even though it's Kim but you tried to ignore it.
"Everyone has their eyes closed?" Jieun asked, and you all answered a soft 'yes'. "Alright, let's start."
You regulate your breathing and tried to listen to any of the sounds mentioned in the instructions. Well it didn't really specify what sound you're supposed to hear, but you kept listening anyway.
Jieun's still chanting, so you assumed the ritual wasn't working. You held back a yawn before changing into a slouching posture, trying to stay awake. For some reason Jieun wanted the ritual to be held at midnight so you don't want to argue with her. You just want this to be over.
The chanting abruptly ended, making you frown in confusion as to why Jieun stopped.
"...I hear something."
Your heart plummeted, gripping Hyein's hand before waiting for someone to speak up again. Hyein's grip turned lax, making you curse.
"I-I hear something too!"
Mentally cursing out your friends, you tried to think that this was all not real. Maybe they're just pranking you, right? They're the ones who founded it, maybe Kim asked them to prank you because they know you don't believe in this kinds of stuff.
"(name), how about you?" Kim suddenly asked, making you jolt in surprise. You didn't answer, not when you're trying to regulate your breathing so you would calm down. You ignored how Kim's grip turned even tighter than before, her nails seemingly more sharper than ever. You tried to take your hand away from her, struggling slightly when it's apparent she doesn't want to let go.
That's when you heard it.
(name)...(name)....
You scream in surprise, tilting your head downwards and closing your eyes even tighter. There's no fucking way the ritual actually worked, you don't even want to open your eyes. Kim's grip turned normal as if she could hear what you just said.
"It's time to open our eyes. If we see the candle lit then it means someone's with us," Kim explained before taking her hand's off you. You decided whether or not to open your eyes, mentally debating if it's the right thing to do.
You shivered when the cold air hits you suddenly, before you felt like someone or something touching your shoulder softly.
open your eyes, darling
You snapped your eyes open, glancing back to see nothing. You looked back at the unlit candle before noticing that all of your friends seemed to be waiting for it to be lit. Not even a second later, the candle was lit.
"What the fuck?!" You screamed, moving backwards. Hyein seems to be scared and hesitant as well, following you to hold your hands together. Jieun just seems excited while Kim blankly looked at the candle.
"Wow, it actually worked!" Jieun awed in wonder before moving closer to the candle. "Jieun! What the fuck? Move away from it," Hyein hissed.
"Oh, don't be a big baby. Besides, if the ritual works then—uh...what's the purpose of the ritual anyway?"
Sometimes you want to strangle Jieun so hard when times like these happens, when her stupidity knows no boundaries that it could cost you harm to you and your loved ones. But these kinds of things intrigued her, she loves the unknown territory. You're happy for her to have a hobby like this but this was really out of your boundaries.
"When the candle is lit, it means that someone is here for you. It hears all of your desires and needs. It wants to help you," Kim answered as she grabs the candle, blowing it out before grabbing her bag.
"Wha—Is that it?! What the fuck should we even do after this?" Hyein gawked. Kim glanced at her before standing up, walking slowly to the both of you.
"Wait and see. You'll notice when it's there, you just have to be patient. If they show themselves—"
"Wait, we're gonna fucking see them?!"
Kim glared at Hyein before continuing. "Yes. If they show themselves, it means that they're ready to help you."
You bit your lip, grabbing Hyein's hand tighter before looking up to Kim. "Why...why do we need to wait for them to show up?"
Kim tilted her head at you, looking up into the dark abyss before smiling down at you. You really didn't like how she smiles, it's creepy.
"Well, you're not getting the help for free. You have to earn it."
You moved your gaze to Hyein as she looks anxious, even Jieun was starting to fidget with her fingers as she listens to Kim. You yelped when Kim suddenly squatted in front of you, making Hyein move away.
Kim brush your hair behind your ears, humming slightly. "I'm jealous of you. I was the one who summoned them, well not all of them. But they wanted you. I don't know why...but I'm intrigued," She whispered. Moving her mouth next to your ears, you could've sworn to hear a growl nearby. Or maybe growls?
"Just a reminder, once they take a liking to you, they'll always be there. Always."
And with that, Kim stood up and walked away. Leaving the three of you to comprehend what the fuck just happened.

Writeblr Intro
Heyo!
I'm Tisiphone - or Tiss, or Tizzy, I don't mind (she/her). I mainly write SFF, but I intend to try my hand at horror and potentially espionage thrillers in the future. I also can't seem to write anything without women being very gay in the middle of it all, so I'm leaning into it.
I follow from @princessw0lf
About me:
I'm a disabled trans lesbian from the UK
What I like seeing in books? Mysteries woven through the plot that resolve satisfyingly. Characters that bounce off each other and grate against each other in interesting ways. Weird romances that don't dominate the plot, but are a key part of it. Great character development.
Favourite books? The Locked Tomb Series by Tamsyn Muir, The Unspoken Name by A.K. Larkwood, Malice by Heather Walter, The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. And a lot of Terry Pratchett.
Fiction I probably won't enjoy? Something where the plot is purely interpersonal drama or romance with nothing interesting happening outside of it. Literary fiction. YA.
Outside of writing? By day I'm a software developer. The rest of my time is spent drawing, playing games both video and tabletop, and playing electric guitar (badly).
DMs/Asks/Tag games? Fire away!
@sam-glade is my pal and you should go check them out too!
With this blog I'm aiming to post writing updates, inspiration, and probably writing-related memes.
About my writing:
At the moment I'm primarily writing high fantasy/epic fantasy, with a view to trying out some more genres later on.
Admittedly a lot of the classic elements of western fantasy are in there, but I've been trying to get back to the mythological roots of creatures like elves, gnomes, and dwarves, and to present them as not being all white and vaguely British.
The world of The Tectomancy Saga is also, like that of my childhood writing hero Sir Terry, an odd shape. There's a reason for that, and we'll get to it eventually.
While my stories are currently third-person multi-pov stories, I intend to experiment on that at some point in the future.
My stories will probably all revolve around two things; a central mystery and a central relationship. I love a plot where you can pick at the smallest words and phrases, theorise about absolutely everything. I want to write stories where people have a thousand ideas about what the truth is, and each one of them knows there's a good chance they could be correct. I also, as a queer trans lady, want to write about sapphic relationships and include many people who are not cis.
My favourite themes to write are anti-authority, people breaking out of systems they've been trapped in for a long time, people being more important than power.
I'm definitely a plantser. I know kind of where I'm going, but let's see where the journey takes us along the way!
Finally, you can expect the tone of my writing to be trying to find that sweet spot between serious and dry humour that makes you groan, with a healthy sprinkling of subtle meme references.
Current projects below the cut
The Tectomancy Saga
On a bowl-shaped world suspended far above swirling blue mists, nine goddesses, witches, or geniuses, blessed their peoples with divine magics, then disappeared. Now, the world is decaying, tensions are rising, and people scramble to control the magics in order to shape the future.
Made with Crown and Claw
WIP Intro
High Fantasy: The classic Princess-in-a-tower-guarded-by-a-dragon story, but we see the machiantions that put her there, and what happens afterwards.
Releine Sholt is hand-picked by the heir to Tectomancy, Princess Almyra Tectus, to be her new bodyguard. The role has one ominous stipulation: nobody can ever speak to the Princess, on the threat of dire punishment.
'There was only one bed' turns out to have horrifying consequences.
Progress: Fourth draft done at 129.5k
Bound by Stone and Blood
High Fantasy: The saga continues from different perspectives, having different adventures, that will eventually conjoin.
Almyra vies for control of her kingdom. Ellimane tracks down two misfits who are being hunted by a rogue automaton. Releine visits hell. A new threat rises in the shadows of Versewelt, the decaying land.
Bitter exes who technically never dated are definitely not thinking about each other.
Progress: First draft underway at 69k
Snippets and Short Stories:
Flash Fiction Friday: On the Edge
Flash Fiction Friday: I Can't Tell
Her New Captain (Alternate Chapter)
Other
Naenia, through Murder
WIP Intro
Naenia, the reaper who is responsible for death through murder, is shellshocked when a murdered homicide detective returns to life before her eyes and promptly asks her out on a date.
Detective Carina Choudhry has an odd - very Goth - new girlfriend, who saved her from the serial killer she was on the trail of.
Progress: Complete at 46k
Fay and the Red Kite (Title pending)
Fay Orrel, a trainee mech pilot, finds that her beaten-up old training machine holds an AI that has replicated its deceased former pilot. She tries to keep the other woman secret from the PMC that owns the mech, who would be certain to wipe the AI's memories, destroying Mina forever.
Progress: Well, I wrote the prologue and some of the first chapter. Being dabbled with!

His Desire, His Fear, His Misbelief.
A Character Study - Part I: Jin, Chevalier, Clavis, Leon
Tumblr media
A brief character study of the IkePrinces on the basis of their internal conflicts pushing their journeys forward.
Based on the "Desire, Fear, Misbelief" character template detailed by Abbie Emmons. In short, identifying a character's potential growth in their story arc by defining the key driving forces at the start of their journey in terms of:
Their desire, or the nonnegotiable goal they are trying to accomplish.
Their fear, or the person/thing/idea that's preventing them from achieving their goal.
Their misbelief, or the "bubble" they crafted around their world for the purpose of achieving their goal while avoiding their fear at all costs.
The life-changing event that lined these three up, typically occurring in childhood.
**Disclaimer: I am not a professional writer nor a literary analyst. I have also not read all of the content for these characters in either the English or Japanese versions. I am mostly going off of what we learn from the main story routes and some events. This is merely an exercise in character study that I thought some of you might find interesting ^^
**Also, obvious SPOILER WARNING for pretty much all the Rhodolitian princes' routes, and all the trigger warnings that come with them. Ok, let's begin!
Tumblr media
Jin Grandet
His Desire?
To be untethered by responsibility and watch his brothers grow up happy and free from heartbreak.
His Fear?
That history will repeat itself in the next Belle Selection, resulting in at least one of his brothers turning into a “fallen beast” and a new generation of unloved royal children.
His Misbelief?
That love cannot and should not exist between different classes.
His Life-changing Event?
Watching the king turn into a fallen beast at the news of his mother’s death.
What does he do to achieve his goal while avoiding his fear?
Growing up, Jin watched how so-called “true love” destroyed his parents’ happiness and consequently that of his brothers. To him, true love can only result in tragedy, so he lives his life free from the restrictions and complications that come with attachment, and he develops his womanizing noncommittal lifestyle to protect himself. Family is the exception as his brothers are the only people he admits to loving. And while he harbors no interest in the throne, he believes it is his duty as the eldest to protect the princes from the same tragic fate of his parents, thus resulting in the instatement of Clause 99.
Tumblr media
Chevalier Michel
His Desire?
To protect and ensure the continuation of Rhodolite as the next king.
His Fear?
That he will never be loved and never experience love like a human.
His Misbelief?
If the world can only see him as an emotionless beast, then that is who he will become.
His Life-changing Event?
His first murder of an assassin.
What does he do to achieve his goal while avoiding his fear?
From an early age Chevalier understood that he was different from others, both mentally and emotionally. He watched as the conversations people had behind his back turned from veneration to fear, but it wasn’t until his mother declared that no one could ever love him that he fully accepted there was no hope. While he claims that love would only get in the way of achieving his goal (like Jin, he witnessed first-hand the consequences of an existence wholly-dependent on love) it is still something he is interested in, as evidenced by his romance novel collection, his tolerance and trust in Clavis, and his curiosity in Belle’s philosophies.
Tumblr media
Clavis Lelouch
His Desire?
To be loved and recognized by all as he is.
His Fear?
That if he were to ever let someone into his heart again, they would abandon him.
His Misbelief?
Love is a transaction. In order to guarantee the least heartbreak, he must always pay out more than he receives.
His Life-changing Event?
His mother’s suicide.
What does he do to achieve his goal while avoiding his fear?
Clavis makes a name for himself doing what he wants because he can, despite the odds or backlash. One could make the argument that his goal is to best Chevalier or to experience the “ultimate pleasure” in all things, but his decisions and actions point to a cry for attention from a boy who was denied except by his mother. Following her death, Clavis developed a warped definition of love and fails to recognize how to properly convey his feelings (i.e. playing pranks, participating in dangerous & illegal operations for his “friends”) and accept that of others (i.e. Chevalier’s trust, Belle’s concern.) Clavis inserts himself into a bunch of circles to gain any allies, knowledge, advantages, and entertainment he needs while always maintaining a comfortable emotional distance.
Tumblr media
Leon Dompteur
His Desire?
For people from all walks of life to be given a chance and be able to live happily and freely as they please.
His Fear?
That he will fail to fulfill his promise to his people and the real Leon as the fourth prince, the leader of the domestic faction, and the King of Rhodolite.
His Misbelief?
He needs to survive the palace and master princehood. To do this, he must hide his secret and dawn the mask of a beast.
His Life-changing Event?
Learning about the existence of royalty and that there are those who could never experience such a life.
What does he do to achieve his goal while avoiding his fear?
Leon understands the danger his position as a fake prince presents. Following the deaths of all in the palace who knew of his secret, he is truly on his own and cannot trust anyone, not even his own “brothers”. Rather than lash out on the people who thrust him into this situation, he recognizes the unique opportunity he is presented with and how it could help him achieve his goal. As such, he suppresses his feelings, works hard, and develops the personality of the charming, talented prince beloved by all. But he didn’t account for growing attached to the other princes and his people, so each day it becomes harder for him to keep up the facade and he yearns for someone to confide in.
Tumblr media
**Final Notes: This is a heavily condensed version of notes I've been taking on these guys over the past year that I just wanted to organize better for writing.
Do I think the writers planned all this when crafting these characters? Not really! At least, not so much and especially not in the earlier routes. This was just a fun little experiment to see how we could categorize the motivations and intentions of the characters to make sense of where they stood at the beginning of their internal journeys and the choices and actions they made in their routes.
If there is something you'd like to add or something you disagree with here, do let me know! Like I said, I only have a limited understanding of these guys and it's always fun to debate and discuss.
Hope you found some entertainment in there! Part II with Yves, Licht, Nokto, and Luke.

~ A Sticky Spider's Web ~
An Explained Post that Untangles Arachne's Web in My Own Words
Tumblr media
⚠️ WARNING ⚠️
This post contains spoilers beyond this point!
Although I do not personally believe that these spoilers will inhibit the gameplay experience, if you would like to play this short game before reading my post, please scroll to the bottom for a link to where it can be downloaded!
Tumblr media
Bold of you to assume I'd stop playing spooky horror games just because it's November. After all, they're one of my favorite genres! And last night I had the pleasure of experiencing another one of @starwarspurgefan 's suggestions -- Spider's Web by Teamsin3
Full Disclosure -- Although I wasn't as completely impressed with this game as I was with Birthday Kid, I still found it adorable, intriguing, and charming. There isn't a lot of lore to unpack with this lil one, but I still want to share my thoughts about what the true story behind it all really is~
Tumblr media
Yes, I will be loading this post with official Arachne art. Leave me alone, she's adorable!
So, a little synopsis to start. Spider's Web is less of a... horror game and more of a spooky mystery with horror elements. Which is fine too, I love those just as much! Throughout the game you play as Arachne, exploring your house and learning bits of information about your mother. Arachne is obviously very aware of all the lore you discover while exploring, but it's presented in a very mysterious way for you as a player, which helps make the game more intriguing.
Additionally, the game very subtly hints you in the right direction to discover everything necessary in the game. It even pushes you to experience all of the bad endings before unlocking the True Ending, which is a mechanic I really enjoyed.
Tumblr media
Although you aren't aware of it when starting the game it becomes very quickly apparent, regardless of what ending you unlock first, that Arachne is a young Jorogumo (spider-woman yokai) living with her mother. Not only is her mother a widow, but it's heavily implied that their species of Jorogumo is specifically belonging to the "true widow" genus of spiders. More on that later.
Each ending divulges a little more detail about Arachne's situation with her mother as she struggles to find a way to leave the house. Unlocking these endings all involve an interesting series of puzzles revolving around blood splatters, hidden rooms, and thirsty spiderplants. However, those aren't the only important things about these endings; seeing as there are several bad endings and only one good ending, which is also the True Ending, it stands to reason that most of these endings are representative of poor decisions that Arachne could have made.
Because of this, I think the best way for me to explain my thoughts would be to elaborate on the symbolism of the bad endings first. Buckle up, kiddos!
Tumblr media
The easiest ending to unlock is the Bloodlust Ending. Why? Because all you need to do is interact with all of the blood splatters in the house.
Relatively straightforward, this ending is what would happen if Arachne were to give in to her instinctual bloodlust and devour her first human. Of course, this would be a mistake on her part because she gives in to becoming a monster, which is a fate Arachne has the ability to change for the better.
The next easiest endings to achieve are the two where you use Special Scissors to cut the web covering the front door. At that point, Mother appears and chases you, prompting you to get a different ending depending on whether she catches you or not. If she does catch you, it's pretty likely that Mother kills Arachne out of anger and betrayal, and if you happen to escape then Arachne abandons her Mother on bad terms.
Both of these endings clearly represent Arachne's potential mistake of trying to run away without settling things at home, which could come with major consequences. For real, guys, you can't run away from your problems and expect them to disappear.
Another bad ending, Like Mother Like Daughter, is the only ending achieved by unlocking the Cellar. There you meet Mother and witness her several cocooned victims hanging from the ceiling. It's implied that Arachne gives in to her bloodlust in this ending as well, devouring the victims alongside hr Mother.
Moral of the story?
My best insinuation is Willpower. Arachne makes the mistake of giving up what she believes in (not eating men whom she doesn't love) and becomes exactly like her Mother. Which is something that we later on come to understand that Arachne really doesn't want to do.
The last bad ending is also particularly alarming. You achieve it if you do everything necessary for the True Ending but make the mistake of interacting with any of the blood splatters. Here, Arachne finds her mother's bedroom, looks in the mirror and has a massive panic attack as she realizes that she's all alone and will seemingly never find love. Arachne then cuts at herself several times with the Special Scissors until she dies...
This ending explains to us a few different things:
• Arachne apparently suffers from severe depression stemmed from a deep loneliness.
• Jorogumo instinct is so powerful that the only way for Arachne to retain her innocence is to avoid temptation altogether. Pretty insightful considering spiders represent temptation itself.
• This ending would most likely happen eventually if Arachne never manages to leave the house, even after the endings where she becomes a monster.
• This is actually a callback to the intro of the game, where Arachne muses that she's essentially suffocating. That is very clearly the beginnings of a panic attack (triggered by feeling trapped in some way) which implies that throughout the entire game Arachne is fighting off this growing sense of anxiety and pressure.
Tumblr media
Now for the True Love Ending -- the good and canonical ending with the most details of the story.
Essentially the moral of the story here is that if Arachne can manage to resist her Jorogumo instincts, then she can achieve happiness by becoming a better person than her mother. But, this can only be achieved by remembering the True Love that Arachne's father taught the two of them.
Here, we learn that Arachne's Mother would date (and possibly marry) men time and again before devouring them. That is, until meeting a man who embraced her spider-side and appreciated her for it, rather than treating her like a monster.
That man became Arachne's father, and the two were very happy together. However, unfortunately when he began to shift his love from his wife to Arachne, Mother became so jealous that.... Well, it's implied that Mother devoured him out of jealousy, and then immediately regretted the action so badly that she refused to ever marry again.
Arachne grew up, but has been struggling and struggling to find a suitor for herself, and whenever she disapproves of one Mother will devour them instead of Arachne.
In the end, Arachne has come to the realization that she wants to go out into the world and find someone who loves her the way that her Father loved Mother. This is the only way that she'll be satisfied, but for pretty obvious reasons she's unsure how to break the news to Mother.
Still, Arachne succeeds because she finally understands that everything her mother has done...has been a show of her love. Despite possessing the Special Scissors, Arachne refuses to cut Mother's Web. Instead, when Mother appears Arachne tells her that she loves her, but it's time for her to find the True Love that her Father taught them both about. And finally... Mother understands Arachne's desires, and allows her to go out into the world.
Arachne untangles the web instead of cutting it, symbolic of preserving her connection to her mother instead of severing it as she had on all of the previous endings.
This ending was.... really sweet and beautiful. Definitely worth all of the tedious puzzles to unlock.
Although this game is very mature and leaves some to be desired, it's definitely a fun game worth experiencing!
I'm especially intrigued with the amount of research the creators seem to have done on widow spiders, since Mother only shows up when you touch her web, and in my own research I turned up...
Tumblr media
It stands to reason that Mother shows up only when you touch her web because she can feel the vibrations through the silk!
Such a cool little detail...
Tumblr media
Well, that's it for my analysis! If you have opinions or theories to add, please throw em in the comments!

hiii. so. i'm a little trapped right now as far as writing goes - aka wholly unsure which of my two main projects to work on. and i've decided that after presenting my respective problems, i'm leaving my course of action up to all of you.
please read the propaganda before voting if possible!
EXPLANATIONS/PROPAGANDA.
terras town is about a girl, lev alvarez, who falls into a parallel world layered right under hers, and who needs to find a way back home before she brings her world crashing down alongside. however, lev's life back home is not going too well right now, and this goal rapidly starts to vanish as she deteriorates more and more into escapism in a world that carries no consequences for her.
pros of me working on this: this has been my main project since i was 15, i have it completely outlined and the characters are fully fleshed out and everything, i know how it all fits together and i'd kind of really love for it to be the first project i complete properly
cons of me working on this: structurally it's a bit fucked - it drags on in the same way for far too long, it has too much introspective activity and not enough external action, and the mc is totally severed from the wider plot surrounding her; thus risking a large part of the story not making sense until book 2 or (like i said) feeling repetitive as she simply does not engage with it. also it's a little cringe
good intentions is about the first academy in the saints-square built with the aim of anchoring cores (people who possess raw, explosive, very dangerous magic) to mages (an artificially created class of people who can siphon cores' magic into 'usable' forms), and more specifically about the experience of two girls (hess tiamaret & juve mizani) in the process. hess flat out refuses to become some rich girl's magical battery, and juve is very much keen on making her buckle and accept her 'help.' they're also both really fucking crazy and there's more to them but i'm still learning how to summarize their deal.
pros of me working on this: i think it runs a lot smoother than tt structurally, with a good balance of internal and external action; it's multiple person pov which is just v fun and also helps keep everyone involved in the wider plot, it has a more polished sense of character voice, juve is a low empathy love interest which ive always wanted to explore (i have a low empathy character in tt too but shes more of a minor character), if you like gideon the ninth vote this one
cons of me working on this: since it's a new wip i'm still not done plotting it, there's big worldbuilding gaps, and i have no idea how a lot of stuff ties together just yet (and potentially for a long while) so it'll take much longer to do. also everyone really does love tt, me included, so it feels a bit like a sell out.
some excerpts to help sway your mind either which way:

i find it kind of funny when everyone goes up in arms about criston being compared or contrasted with jaime. obviously jaime is infinitely better written and fleshed out as a character at this point or whatever, but like that does not really change the fact that he is very much a potential jaime parallel/foil. in some ways they are alike and in other ways they are complete opposites. not even from the perspective of theorycrafting, i truly do not care about all that, but just the obvious fact that both of them focus on themes of knighthood and the kg warrants fun little comparisons. there are already so many surface level parallels like their looks, their skill, their role, their disillusionment, their blindspots, their violence, their bitterness etc. not to mention the loud ones that george kept trying to draw/set up in the main text:
Tumblr media
“i made kings and unmade them” - jaime
“the best and the worst. a few who were a bit of both” (wonder who this could also be about hmm)
considering hotd, the fact that they share in common the desire to run away with a royal that they had an affair/romance with is pretty interesting. criston’s “lets elope to essos” is verbatim JC. of course the context of these relationships is very different, as well as what they would both give up respectively, but that does not change the fact that they both wanted to run away with and place these women in a role that they do not desire bc they fundamentally misunderstand them and how the “power” they are asking them to give up for “love” is a form of autonomy in their perspective that they would never have otherwise. criston’s storyline so far, in my eyes at least, is a deconstruction of the “underdog knight”: a no-name that rises through the ranks through his skill, finds a place where he belongs, and falls in love with a princess, followed by them running away together from society in order to experience their forbidden true love. of course the point is that this story is not real, and the entire thing collapses leaving criston with the same kind of bitter disillusionment with the system that is so thoroughly explored with jaime, just from a different angle. something about unreachable purity and the impossibility of embodying this male paragon of knighthood (bc it doesnt exist as it is fabricated by society). and the layers of the kg and personal ambition. imo it allows for an extra element of some exploration of class dynamics that is not that pronounced in jaime and his arc’s deconstruction of knighthood and masculinity bc of his status. (this kinda fails when u consider how criston faced no consequences for breaking guestright/murder of someone pretty significant to characters with status and power lmao — so lol?)

I have resisted writing my thoughts on La Pluie this week because I have too much on my plate. But the urge is strong and I am weak.
First Lomfon
Anyway... I want to say something about Lomfon. I love him and I've been intrigued by him since day one. He is a lost puppy that has made ALL the mistakes. I read @heretherebedork 's worries about Tien and Lomfon and I think we can trust that they will be fine. Lomfon is now starting to go back and fix the mess he's made, and he starts with Tai. we can thank @syrena-del-mar for putting it wonderfully here - Tai is self-obsessed and self-absorbed, so his conversation with Lomfon in ep 11 is really lighthearted. He is the one not taking things too seriously because it's not about himself. It is about Tien so Tai is all he will be fine, he always ends up fine, it's fine, trust me, I know him, I know what he likes, just talk to me, I'll help you out. This is not about me, and I told you I'm good so relax man. It's gonna be fine.
On the other hand, Lomfon is about to die of seriousness and pain. You can see on his face how much he needs to make things right with Tai before he allows himself to fix things with Tien. Lomfon knows Tien, and he knows that his main concern is Tai's emotional wellbeing (seriously, you put it so well @syrena-del-mar ), and there is no way he will be fine moving ahead with Lomfon unless Tai is good.
Then Communication
This all leads me to something that I've been wanting to say for a few weeks now. I find it most interesting how this show comments about communication in relationships. It came together for me this ep when they paralleled Tai's soulmate connection with his parents' soulmate connection. What keeps their love for each other, be it romantic or not, is the fact that they were and still are communicating through it all. They have real conversations both when it rains and when it doesn't rain. And they keep communicating even after the divorce. They are using their soulmate connection the way they should.
I really get Tai here. He is a kid who only gets part of the picture (as all kids do) of his parents' relationship, and he makes assumptions on which he bases his own actions in his own relationships.
What I mean is that because he also suffers from hearing loss, he is the only brother who can't witness his parents communicating as soulmates. When it rains, he turns inwards and also turns sort of blind. He doesn't really learn anything from his parents' experience because he can't see it. He knows how to communicate with his environment, and the show establishes it in the opening when Tai reviews all the different ways people with hearing loss can communicate with people who hear. The thing that he's missing is the ability to communicate with people like him - mainly the one person he needs to communicate with, which is his soulmate and potential romantic partner. From his POV there is no need to put in the effort with your soulmate because you can hear each other when it rains. AND THAT IS ENOUGH.
Well Tai, I hate to be the bearer of bad news BUT you will need to learn that relationships need communication. Hearing is not listening. Having a soulmate connection doesn't mean being able to read each other's minds. It is a basic connection that needs to be built upon, but will not last without communication. When Patts is screaming at him communicate with me! Tai can only respond with read my mind and find out because he hasn't figured it out yet.
I liked how Tai had to lose the hearing loss, and consequently the soulmate connection, in order to understand what communication should look like between partners. When he'll get back together with Patts, it's not going to be rebuilding, it's going to be learning and building from the ground, because Patts and him were not communicating on the same frequency. Patts was communicating, while Tai was only hearing.
So, to sum up, I love this show.

I've wanted to do this for a while, but was held back by shyness for a while. (By a while, I mean I haven't even experienced Patch 6 yet. I *believe* this entire experience was in 5.)
I played Dark Urge as my first complete run of Baldur's Gate III, and it was beautiful in a way I don't feel is captured in the normal Tav playthrough, but I only intend to partially unpack that to keep things on topic for Durgetash.
From the very beginning, who you are and what you've lost *burns* as a question in your head. You meet the violation with rage and the promise of bloody consequences, but — it fades. You have people to care for, with varying degrees of suddenness, who understand you and the circumstances that may have shaped you.
And violence and potential death meets them at every turn. I, not the Durge, grew murderously protective of everyone in my party. Astarion. Karlach. Shadowheart.
I killed Alfira and never regretted it, save for wondering if the party would reject me for the barbarity of it all. The butler was delighted, and Astarion wore the reward for my first slip of control for the rest of the game.
If you can't tell, I was already thoroughly invested in feeling this story so much I purposely blurred the lines between myself and the Durge I had for the sake of acting as they would, fighting like I felt best suited them (they were a Storm Sorcery Sorcerer).
By Last Light, I wasn't fond of this unknown observer and their wants. I had no interest in killing Shadowheart, or the town of unknown innocents to "make up" for serving her in what I get in hindsight looked like —to Fel, Orin, and Bhaal alike — another unacceptable fit of perverse sentimentality.
Isabel still died, because I had taken on the fight not yet quite strong enough to save her. Dammon died, as well, and the party and I had to move on. Fel visited that night, and bestowed the form of the Slayer upon me. I was Murder Incarnate, he joyfully proclaimed, and I killed him in the hopes of removing him from my sight. From the camp.
There were letters in rooms I fumbled through in Moonrise, and Gortash started becoming relevant, both in those signatures and through Karlach's sharing of her history.
The vague negativity I felt towards this largely faceless, seemingly largely political threat shattered when infiltrating his palace on the day of the ascension to Archduke of Baldur's Gate turned into an occasion my Durge was *invited to*.
How was I? Did I remember? Would I like to rejoin forces? I can't imagine now how many questions were going through his head, seeing me alive and on my feet after all the time that had passed.
And where Ketheric had acted with rage when I inevitably betrayed him at the top and bottom of Moonrise Towers, or Orin had seethed that my Durge had dared to return and threaten every bit of goodwill she had painstakingly clawed together from the Bhaalists, Enver simply shrugged it off, offering me the first of two chances to ultimately just get their stones and return to rule together with him.
For Karlach's sake, I considered it impossible. I wasn't whoever had orchestrated the plan to enslave the brain.
Somewhere along the way during this campaign, I had seen your posts, but didn't really delve into them or read them too thoroughly since I was trying to not spoil myself by accident. Was that bit of fondness in the throne room that had stayed his hand it? I wasn't going to judge, by any means, because I've certainly shipped things ferociously for much less meaningful gestures, but I didn't understand why it would prompt the intensity with which you fawned over it.
And then I reached the underwater prison. I got lost in the sewers and somehow found the submarine, and the destination was where I had seen Wyll's father rumored to be kept. I had already made the pact with Mizora on his behalf, and didn't really expect to find more than his corpse in the prison after the bombs went off.
But more importantly — I finally understood, in the conversation with Gortash where he demanded I turn back, and looked incredibly unsurprised when I didn't. Somehow, despite my Durge tearing one of his most secure advantages from between his fingers and forcing him to dash it against the ground rather than risking it falling intact into their hands... he seemed *amused. Delighted.*
And so I set to proving myself, somehow wanting to find myself worthy of his approval of my strength, while also wanting to spite Mizora.
I got everybody out, and by happenstance, only Karlach died. His foil, I discovered in hindsight, since she is ready to leap into the House of Hope itself for my Durge the same way they did for Enver once upon a time.
Most of the remaining relevant crumbs dry out here, as Enver didn't even comment on the prison specifically regardless of the outcome for me.
But between "I always liked you better" and the warmth with which he says anything to you, the delight he shamelessly expresses when you simply are being the you that he knows, that is viciously carved into your bones so deeply it will always return no matter how you heal after being broken?
If you look at it as a story of breaking cycles, what Durgetash was should be objectively regarded as the hardest thing to lose in becoming a better person.
It's the intoxication of being known when you are amongst those that know nothing but the use you can offer them. The twisted fun that makes you question, again and again, whether you really *need* to be better than you were. The painful sorrow, of looking on someone you've grown past, and knowing you can't fit yourself in the spaces belonging to who you were then, even with how you still long for that aching, bloody warmth that their harmful presence would make you feel that you'll never forget.
I found myself happy I had had my Durge embrace the title of Murder Incarnate after the process of beating Orin and rejecting Bhaal.
All this to celebrate being able to play the game again after a long move, and that I'm looking forward to Patch 6, where I can hopefully be moved like that again. Made worse? Who knows.
What a delightful journey culminating into the descent into madness that is...Durgetash.
I'm glad you have seen this light...this dark....
You also got me with the line, "If you look at it as a story of breaking cycles, what Durgetash was should be objectively regarded as the hardest thing to lose in becoming a better person."

brief disclaimer here, this is about build, so skip it if you find it uncomfortable
i waited a little bit before dumping whatever my brain is coming up with because yesterday was overall a hard day (real life shit happened) and i was not ready to face the eventual hate i could get for, you know, having opinions.
so, let’s start from the fact that i am not a perfect person, i do have flaws and for the same reason i do not expect perfection from anyone, neither from my close circle of friends/family nor from the people i happen to follow online.
that’s why what has been coming out in the last months - and yesterday specifically - is closure enough for me. i can’t even fathom how people can look at this whole situation and pick good and bad guys when it’s kinda obvious that they were in a relationship which turned to be pretty toxic and ended up in fire. what’s also true is that the allegations against build were indeed fake, (both the ones coming from netizens on twitter and the ones coming from poi) therefore he got his life ruined on the base of accusations that were never backed up from any evidence and were actually supported by fabricated pictures and blatant lies (making threads is not my thing, but this story is all over twitter if you’re interested) there’s also the fact that when push came to shove, he decided to take the whole thing on the legal route, while she decided that harassing him, his family (the whole thing against build’s sister was disgusting) and his fans was the right thing to do.
i’m not saying anybody should support him or turn into his fan, because i understand that we are all different and we perceive things differently, but refusing to acknowledge that in the beginning - and i put myself in there too - we were all blinded by prejudice and that the situation is now much clearer is hypocritical. I also believe that what happened to him is unfair and he deserves some sort of reparation for having his life ruined considering that things are clearly not going back to what they were before.
You do not need to be a build’s fan to see that poi lied from the beginning to the end and that as imperfect as build is, he was the one to be slandered and potentially abused. I mean, voice on the street (not confirmed from any parties, but you know, info like to leak) is that she will have to pay him a whole lot of money for this mess, which to me does not sound at all like settling, but rather admitting to a fault and deciding to pay up instead of facing more gruesome consequences.
I would also like to point out how the whole kp and bl fandoms are very much filled with double standards considering what’s been happening in the last week (and i’m not referring only to the whole gmmtv situation), but on the other hand i have hope that maybe people are starting to realize how dumb cancel culture (or fandom life the way it’s turning to be) is.
I hope Build can somehow get what he lost back and i hope he’s taking care of his mental health and, more than everything, i wish he’ll learn something from this experience. Just to be clear: this is a build-friendly blog. I won’t pretend i know him as a person, but i know him as an actor and artist and you know, 10 minutes of his acting left me gaping for a year now, so I will support any kind of project he may have in the future (i know chances of 4M happening are low but a girl can dream).
To conclude, please, do not send hate to people if you don’t like them, do not spread lies for clout, but practice kindness. There’s nothing to lose in that.

Lilith in Virgo / Lilith in 6th house
Tumblr media
pics not mine.
Lilith
is one of the most difficult points to touch - both in astrology and in practical life itself. That's because Lilith isn't is something practical, tangible. The matters involving Lilith are directly related to the unconscious mind, hidden personality traits, things that are not easy for the egoic and conscious mind to understand.
This partly explains the great difficulty we have in making Lilith's meanings tangible: she is related to our hidden being. Lilith is one of the best ways to get to know your Shadow, the sides you keep most of yourself.
The conscious mind is about 10%, the subconscious 50-60% and the unconscious 30-40%. There's a lot about us that we don't know. And knowing Lilith helps us to get in touch with these possible patterns, which are naturally unconscious, and precisely because of this, they comprise the rest of our personality that we can't understand/have contact/know, but which, in the end, is manifesting in us the same way.
Lilith represents obsession and denial, rejection and fixation. These are ambivalent and sometimes paradoxical points, but they can manifest in the same person. It all depends on how much the person masters Lilith's influence on him/her, it all depends on how much the person understands the importance of Lilith's manifestation in his/her personality. A person who doesn't deal well with issues involving Lilith can fall into extremes, precisely because they have difficulty dealing with its potential paradoxical behaviors. So I can say that finding a certain balance in the manifestation of Lilith in your life is essential.
Lilith in Virgo or in the 6th house
means a person who has in his/her personality dilemmas involving ORGANIZATION, generating behaviors of extreme focus on organization and details. The person becomes very demanding and likes things extremely organized. The search for organization is something that marks the life of this individual, to the point that the native can't do other things if he/she doesn't feel the organization around him/her. Problems with disorganization can even generate physical sensations. Generally speaking, any negative experience involving 6th house matters can bring on a feeling of physical irritation, itching, pain and the like.
Tip: It would be interesting for the native to see if what causes him/her so much discomfort is really the lack of organization, or if the search for so much organization (sometimes it can be something exaggerated) is not the consequence of other things, other situations. Do a reassessment of what causes you pain/discomfort when the feeling of disorganization comes to the fore. Is it just external disorganization? Why does dealing with disorganization need to be something that makes you feel worse, leaving you feeling stressed?
Lilith in Virgo or the 6th house is also related to the act of SERVING. Serving is almost a duty for those who have this positioning. Service has great value, but people who have this placement just need to be aware that they may go overboard by giving too much and not getting something in return. Acts of service, serving others, giving help, is something very important. But it can't exceed the limit.
Don't deny yourself things, make good use of your time.
The natives may also have to deal with the feeling that they are always having to SOLVE PROBLEMS that arise. It's as if every issue that knocks on their door is their responsibility. It won't always be. Pay attention to this too and beware of exaggeration in taking responsibility for everything! This can generate feelings of guilt.
In addition, this positioning can manifest a person who is sometimes very FOCUSED on accomplishing a task, sometimes has a lot of difficulty even starting something, given the great perfectionism he/she has inside him/her.
The great side of this is the ability to focus on something, have a goal and be very tenacious about achieving it. Usually Lilith in Virgo and Lilith in the 6th have an ease in pursuing a goal, especially related to routine. However, the natives need to be careful not to exceed the limits in this too, leaving other parts of the routine aside: rest, feeding.
Thus, we enter another point involving these positions: the obsession with HEALTH and, at the same time, the denial of health itself. It may seem that both things exclude each other, but in practice it is quite possible that they coexist in one person.
And if they manage to coexist, that means that neither of the two faces is being put into practice in a healthy way.
Tip: Take care of your own health and, at the same time, realize that focusing too much on this side can make a person neurotic and compulsive.
When thinking about health, Lilith in Virgo and Lilith in the 6th house bring a great relationship of the native with health, prevention, basic care, which makes the individual very connected to hygiene and may make him/her want to take care of his/her physical body and alimentation. On the other hand, it may be that a native is quite negligent and often has problems with food, health, sleep quality, precisely because there is a lot of obstinacy and physical energy (often focused on goals and daily, routine things, another side of this Lilith placement), but the native doesn't know how to live healthy with this potential.
Other possible issues to face with Lilith may involve: small jobs, repetitions, patterns, routines, small animals, doctors, health, rational mind, analysis, physical body, hygiene, basic care, lifestyle, concerns, sense of utility.
Despite the potential problems with Lilith, remember that they arise exactly because of the accumulation of energies and potentials that is used in a disharmonious way, becoming something wrong and unbalanced.
When you realize that the potential exists and that it is the same for both constructive and destructive attitudes, you will be beginning to learn to better deal with your Lilith placement.

The most recent mini-episode of @greaterblogston was a particularly personal one for me. In the past, we've acknowledged that both Dimitri and Michael have ADHD, but it hadn't come up directly in the text of the show until now. I had the script brewing in the back of my head for a couple of years before I actually wrote it, but I knew it was one that had to happen--if not for the sake of the show, then because I simply needed to write it. We started Greater Boston and completed the whole first season before I got my own diagnosis and started treatment. But finally recognizing that part of myself, and finding ways to finally begin working *with* that part of myself has been a huge part of gaining a better understanding of myself--how I work, how I live, how I manage relationships, how I make the choices I make--my ADHD plays a role in all of it. And recognizing it in the patterns of these two characters and how I was writing them was a very real part of that journey. Bringing them to the point of actually talking about it directly was important. Although the two characters experience their ADHD differently, there are aspect of my own experience in both. There's more of me in Dimitri (I'm excitable, and impulsive when I get excited about something. Like...starting a full-cast fiction podcast even though I had no experiences whatsoever in audio production) than Michael (I fortunately don't tend toward harmful or self-destructive impulses), but Michael's fears about using medication were my own. I don't personally have a history of substance abuse, but I've certainly seen enough of it in my family. My biological father was a lifelong heroin addict, and he died as a consequence of his addiction. The shadow of his addiction has loomed large over my relationship to just about anything potentially habit-forming, especially knowing my own tendency toward both impulsive and compulsive behaviors. I worried what turning to a controlled narcotic for help would mean for me. The conclusion I ultimately came to was that worrying over an addiction to a medication that I *needed to take anyway* was incoherent, especially considering that my presentation has never led me to substance abuse issues in the first place. (In fact, I've been very relieved to realize that one of the signs that I'm heading toward a bout of depression is that I *lose* interest in the cocktails that I usually enjoy.) I started on Adderall, and it has made a major positive difference in my life. My fears were not just unfounded--I have better control over my behaviors than without it. Which is not to say medication is the right choice for everyone, or that the fears I had aren't valid for others. It's complicated. But for me, it was the right decision. It was unintended that this episode would come out during the current Adderall shortage, but is nonetheless fitting. My access to medication has been unreliable, and I've had to go weeks at a time without. This has meant revisiting the ways I used to struggle, and seeing much more starkly what a difference treatment has made for me. But man, it sure is frustrating.

3. Oh!! Also Alfred Hitchcock’s Shadow of a Doubt. There’s a film called Stoker which is loosely based on it too. Ok sorry now I’m done lol
Tumblr media
Have I already told you guys I've failed you??? Like I've received this more than THREE YEARS AGO and I'm only answering it now
Tumblr media
Both anons: thank you so much for your recommendations. Shadow of a Doubt was a fascinating watch. I've always considered edgy vintage movies like this a finding, really puts you into perspective art and entertainment was provoking even at it's earliest stages and people have always been aware of the darker shades of human experience, even in 50s when entertainment seemed so whimsical.
I think it's even more edgy then today's media because the censorship at the time demanded this secrecy and subtext that makes you feel like you're watching something forbidden and wrong. The more explicit-to-be-shocking movies are, the more normal the taboo themes presented seem to be. I loved Shadow of Doubt way more than Stoker for that reason. Sue me.
As for the ship itself, I don't consider it very shippable because although they always speaking about their connection, there is nothing in their personalities that seen to connect. Stoker tried to fix this by making the main girl a potential killer like her uncle, but it created a whole different problem which was I don't understand the character at all nor consider the ship villain/heroine.
However, things begin to look more shippable when seen through another perspective. What if, because of censorship or just an artistic choice, the serial-killer uncle was simply an allegory for a darker theme: the molester uncle. Instead of murder which results in a major personality difference between him and Charlie and kind of diminishes the presumed connection between them, the creators wanted to tell a different story? One in which the crime that tears them apart is not contradictory to, but rather a direct consequence of their unconventional bond.
Suddenly the main girl having a platonic crush on her uncle before the reveal seems a lot more relevant to the plot. Her uncle manipulating her to keep it a secret by using her mother (his sister) mental health as leverage too. It still makes sense in a serial killer plot, but this way just feels more real, something that could and does happen, when relatives cross the line of fraternal love.
Also ready a lovely theory about how the protagonist's mother relationship with uncle Charlie was probably emotional incest when they were young and when Charlie (main girl) is born, her mother unconsciously assign her daughter to be her substitute - to be for him something she could not be. It's canon in my opinion. Makes everything a lot more interesting.

Heroes of Song Devlog Part 13: Refining
Now that all the Exemplar Hero art has been revealed, I can get back to my main devlog series!
Here’s a picture with all the heroes. The alt text is a little brief on this one because I was worried about it being more exhaustive than the casual scroller was looking for, but reach out or look at my previous posts if you’re interested in more descriptive alt text. Art is by Warren Kennedy. Follow him on Tumblr, Instagram, and Twitter.
Tumblr media
My design principles:
The heroes are cute.
Kindness matters.
The world is weird.
Sometimes you don’t fight. Sometimes you do.
Health is hearts.
I’ve made quite a few small changes and additions since the last devlog that I’m going to run through quickly. I’ll probably miss something, since I don’t really want to go back and comb through my edit history, but I should be able to hit the main points.
Exhausted
I’ve added a condition called exhausted which makes it so a character can’t add any of their positive Aspects to their rolls. Exhausted is most commonly a consequence for running out of Effort. If felt like there needed to be more of a cost to using all of your Effort to balance it with using Spirit and to make it feel like it matters when an ability is used to damage Effort. It also just gives me more conditions to work with for special abilities, both for the heroes and enemies. It hasn’t come up in play yet, but I think it could be pretty impactful.
Slippery Scamp
I changed the Scamp’s Life of the Party move to the Slippery move. I think the new move is going to be more useful to Scamp players and is going to make the Calling play more like people will be expecting it to when they choose it. In my most recent playtest (which I will give its own post later), it seemed to be a good fit. It basically means you can crawl, climb, and squeeze in and out of pretty much any situation.
In the Works
I have some dual wielding rules drafted up. I think these are going to mostly revolve around decisions about what to hold in your hands. The main downside for holding a sword and a dagger, for example, is that you wouldn’t be able to also hold a shield and neither has the damage output of a two-handed ax doing a power strike. What I initially drafted out is a little on the complicated side, so I’m thinking about slimming the system down a bit.
I also wrote up a couple more runes. One is a Deflect rune, which I think fits the Zelda-like genre well. The idea is that you could knock ranged attacks back at the attacker. The other rune I wrote before but didn’t include initially was the Hood rune which would block senses like hearing and seeing. Both of these are a little wordy as currently written, but I think have potential.
I also have a couple more enemies written out that I’ll probably drop into the doc soon. One is a flying enemy. Another is a lizard-person enemy called a scalikin (which will probably eventually be a player option too).
Why’d You Have to Go and Make Things So Complicated
Some of the new additions, plus mechanics already present like the dodge/perfect dodge and weapon moves, make me worry a little bit about a pitfall I often associate with OG Pathfinder. In Pathfinder, there is a system for everything and I love it. But, I also come by memorizing a bunch of numbers and being able to quickly reference things pretty easily. That’s not necessarily the play experience I want associated with Heroes of Song and it just isn’t accessible for everyone.
So, I could strip things way back and cut a bunch of features—many of which make the game feel more like its inspirations. What I think I want to do instead, while also being mindful of bloat, is find a way to encourage tables to start simpler and add mechanics to their repertoire as they go. This is how it is handled in video games where new systems are doled out over time with a tutorial to go along with each new mechanic. I’m not sure exactly how to work this into a game book, but I think some direction about how to start with less experienced tables would be helpful. I might note this in enemy descriptions (e.g. the hobkin is an “easy” enemy, both to run and fight, while a sawshell is “moderate” because heroes will need to know how to use the stun mechanics to take it on). I might also include some tutorial encounters to go along with different mechanics.
Anyway, I definitely have a lot of work left to do! Don’t expect a full release of this game any time super soon! But I feel like I got some momentum last month and am excited about how things are going.
I also have some other projects in the works, so there will probably be other game releases in the coming months.
The world is weird; kindness matters.

Triumphs and frustrations with a complex physical disability and a brain at nearly midlife… Searching for a champion to share and grow with
Tumblr media
My Cerebral Palsy made life without diapers very traumatizing for me. From age 4–21, I was in underwear with bladder accidents from spasms at least once a week. Toilet training was a point of pride for my mom, even though most doctors and my preschool and elementary teachers told her not to focus on it. She thought I could outthink my body. Instead, having to plan my relief breaks around other people has given me kidney issues at 42 and that is after choosing to go back into diapers as a junior in college. Based on this experience, wearing diapers is healthier than waiting on people to help me to the bathroom. Also, as a guy who is 6 foot 4 and 170 pounds, toilet transfers several times a day are exhausting and potentially dangerous for me and my support people.
There is no correlation between incontinence and intelligence. Mom said she didn’t want me diapered after the typical age because she thought people would perceive me as being stupid…Well I have been wearing 24/7 for over 20 years including under my gown at my Ph.D graduation… 😘 … My advice to emerging adults with disabilities is that your ability to accomplish great things is a product motivation, not the undergarments you are wearing. In my observation and experience, the responsibility of motivation evolves throughout the developmental process. Initially, this responsibility lies with parents and other supports, to explore and educate themselves about success stories of adults with similar challenges, focusing on understanding the strategies that have led to positive outcomes. As youth with disabilities approach preadolescents (middle school), the responsibility gradually for exploration and experimentation gradually shifts from solely residing with the parental figure to a joint venture that increasingly becomes more driven by curiosity of the individual themselves. Today’s adolescent preteen and teenager is constantly engaged with personal technology and electronic media. The focus of at least some of this screen time can be given to meaningful discovery of not only strengths, interests, and abilities but also the possible strategies that can be used to bring abstract dreams into reality. As the time for high school approaches, a portion of this exploration time should be dedicated to experiential learning, this includes testing strategies that will allow the person with self-care challenges to participate in their community with minimal effects from their limitations. Some examples of considerations include exploring methods for community access through transportation, strategies for accessing nutrition while public and elimination (bladder/bowel) management.
My decision to use diapers full-time again with the occasional addition of male catheters, as I eluded to earlier, was the product of a New Year’s resolution in 2002. Ironically, I felt as if this was a means of asserting control over one aspect of my life. It was around the age of 25 that I began to realize that there were some unintended social consequences of my decision that I am still struggling to overcome. I have learned that midstream people are not very receptive to a guy in a wheelchair who needs fed and his diapers changed, but otherwise is completely cognitively intact, even bright with a sarcastic and very dry wit.
I had to learn to have fun with it along the way, finding companionship from people who will understand my needs and embrace my choices has been difficult. After some research, I discovered that there was a group of people who enjoyed doing the same things I needed and mostly by choice, the ABDL and medfet communities. Happiness for me will be finding a woman who considers the AB and medical needs as normal and has fun doing it. The lifestyle or fetish angle removes the awkwardness for both of us. It would be awesome to be in a crowded public place (i.e. restaurant, sporting event) and know that there is at least one other person there who is experiencing the same sensation I am feeling inside as well as from the diaper against my body and clothing. At last I will not feel alone in the world. There is also some intrigue and humor in the idea that only we know that each other is wearing. For those of you who prefer more crude or masculine visualization, as I used to say in one of my profiles on a certain ABDL dating site, a diaper nor wheelchair should not also be a chastity belt. Just because I must wear for medical reasons does not mean I am stupid or otherwise not worthy of sharing myself with someone. Sexual intimacy alone is rarely the basis for a solid long-term relationship, however human touch is essential for me. Having no inhibitions about giving or receiving a hug or cuddle is a must for me because I have been deprived of it so much because of misconceptions about body and mind. I am looking for a partner who understands my ambitions and is not afraid to explore their own. The ability to have someone who you can share your most intimate thoughts and feelings with even on the worst days would be a blessing for me. I hope to find someone who is willing to learn and grow together.

I feel like... there is some sort of lost art in what it means to rp here. Folks, remember that rp is a collaborative experience, every reply you write to your partner should be like a baton pass, or a tennis match (minus the screaming, or maybe the screaming might be appropriate in the thread). Have something for your partner's muse to engage with, sometimes simply reacting to what the other muse has said or done without a follow up action kills a thread!
For an example, like with improv, there is a "yes let's" and your muse can go with the other muse's action or resist it as long as it keeps the story moving in interesting places by adding more. Think of Newton's Third Law: for every action, there is an opposite and equal reaction! The story will progress through the outcome and consequence of reactions and interactions, if both muses put in the equal amount of work! Your muse's response should not be a summary of your muse's point of view of what my muse has done, and leave it as that without any sort of follow up or some sort of successive action/reaction that could help move things along! If there is one person carrying the thread, this is how you kill any possibility of having any writing chemistry with somebody you want to write with.
In short, please do not do this:
Muse A: "Hey, do you want to run to a store real quick and grab some snacks?" Muse A turns and grabs their coat, "Although, I haven't been around this part of town... know any places?"
Muse B: "Sure, I'd like some snacks." Muse B replies, liking Muse A's suggestion to go to a store to get snacks, "Let's go to a store."
Does Muse B's response feel like it could help move things along? Could there have been more? Maybe Muse B could have followed up by slipping past Muse A to take the lead? Could Muse B have made a suggestion of which store to hit up, or where they could go to find a store? Does Muse B seem engaging?
Maybe this example might make it more evident that the other muse needs to step it up:
Muse A: Is running at a full sprint with Muse B, ducking, dodging, and jumping over obstacles to get away from a monster pursuing them. Muse A then turns a corner, yanking Muse B along with them.
Muse B: Is running, scared out of their mind.
Muse A: Lets Muse B run ahead, while they pause and push something down to buy them time while they try to continue to escape.
Muse B: Is still running.
Muse A: When Muse A catches up, they see that they have run into a dead end. "Shit! We got to find a way out!"
Muse B: They realize they have no where to run, "I don't know, we're stuck!"
Muse A: "Wait!" Muse A stumbles toward what could be a potential hiding place, and they frantically move all the objects out of the way of what looks like a small door to a crawl space. They yank and yank away at the doorknob until it gives out, forcing the small door open. "In here!"
This example makes it feel like one muse is just standing there, or going along for the ride, watching the other muse doing all the walking and talking. It kind of feels like an, "I only speak when spoken to vibe." In other words, your character needs to be able to take the initiative to do something to determine the course of the story, or at the very least engage and interact with whatever your partner's muse is doing, even if they are reserved/meek/mild/chill. With great writing involved, even those characters can still do more for a thread.
I do get where this all comes from, given that people internalized that fear of godmodding or taking up/monopolizing the thread, but at this rate, a little bit of that is necessary and required. If it feels like your partner is the lead in this waltz and you are simply hanging on and trailing after them, then there is something wrong. Remember, you are weaving a story together, there are no passengers, everyone is a participant. If you want to try something but are anxious around the risk of upsetting your partner, TALK TO THEM! Communication is key, communication is necessary in this hobby!
