🪡 BONE WEAVER 🪡 Well, I'm a week late in posting this, but I wanted to be sure and say a hearty "Happy Release! 🎉" to @adenpolydoros and BONE WEAVER! I have been a huge fan of Aden's from the moment I read his debut book five years ago (if you haven't read his Project Pandora series, do yourself a favor and pick it up!). I haven't had a chance to read BONE WEAVER yet, but it's definitely on my Fall TBR. (You can swipe to see a pic of THE CITY BEAUTIFUL I took last year but apparently never posted 🤦🏻‍♀️) I adore Aden and his books, and if you've not read anything of his yet, consider this your sign to go forth and do so! 🤩 Q: Are there any less-well-known authors that you love, and want to hype? Leave names below! I'm always looking for new great writers to follow! 🪡🪡🪡 #boneweaver #thecitybeautiful #adenpolydoros #adenpolydorosauthor #jewishliterature #jewishfiction #jewishfictionbooks #jewishauthors #yalit #yaliterature #yaliteraturejunkie #yaliteratureisthebest #youngadultbooks #youngadult #youngadultfiction #lgbtqbooks #lgbtqbookstagram #lgbtqauthors #lgbtqauthor #yabooks #yabookstagram #yabookstagrammer #yabook #ncbookstagrammer #ncbooklovers #bookkeepingblog #favoriteauthor #favoriteauthors #newrelease #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CjBE8Z8rtUM/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

💌 BOOKMAIL ✨ Won this book from a Goodreads giveaway! Bone Weaver by @adenpolydoros Blurb: The Kosa empire roils in tension, on the verge of being torn apart by a proletarian revolution between magic-endowed elites and the superstitious lower class, but seventeen-year-old Toma lives blissfully disconnected from the conflict in the empire with her adoptive family of benevolent undead. When she meets Vanya, a charming commoner branded as a witch by his own neighbors, and the dethroned Tsar Mikhail himself, the unlikely trio bonds over trying to restore Mikhail’s magic and protect the empire from the revolutionary leader, Koschei, whose forces have stolen the castle. Vanya has his magic, and Mikhail has his title, but if Toma can’t dig deep and find her power in time, all of their lives will be at Koschei’s mercy. #goodreadsgiveaway #boneweaver #adenpolydoros #bookishcanadians #bookblogger #bibliophile ##bookstagramphilippines #bookrecommendations #bookstagramfeature #instabook #booksofinstagram #readersofinstagram #bookfeature #booksbooksbooks #bookgram #booknerd #bookcommunity #bookstagrammer #bookreviewersofinstagram #books #readingcommunity #bookloversofinstagram #goodreads (at Calgary, Alberta) https://www.instagram.com/p/CeHnkoBrc1u/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Soooooo, inspiration hit and it mixed it with my current BG3 hyperfixation, so results are mspaint doodles of tavs and their partners. May contain spoilers for BG3, Beware. Image contexts!: Image 1: Charms of different types. This is basically showing how my my tav Aetros is the other side to Astarion's coin. Where Astarion tends to be flamboyant and forward, Aetros is more naturally charming and soothing. Image 2: Grumpy Warlock. On request of my friend @maxtheg-askthevoltroverse, i drew his tav Dilligaf being held like a grumpy cat by his partner Karlach. She just loves him and he pretends like he doesn't care. Image 3: Honeyed words and sharp eyes. This has to do with Astarion's plan of gaining Aetros' trust and knowing that Aetros can't see it. However Dilligaf and Karlach are not blind and see it. Again Dilligaf pretending not to care, as it isn't his business. Karlach however cares and is visibly worried for their bard friend. Image 4: BeastWeaveShadow. Polyship of Skaus and Zerzer (me and my partner's tavs) loving on our favourite weave eating wizard. Gotta give him some love. Image 5: WeaveFlower (BoneWeave). A special little bonus for Oorcid (my partner's tav) since she was missing from the previous image. She gets a nice little smooch. Image 6: Dancer's lesson. My tav Ekmerös and his partner Wyll having a moment to themselves, where Wyll teaches Ekmerös how to dance. He's not much of a dancer, but he wants to try.
Hope you'll like these silly little doodles i did in mspaint :]

I love this boneweave armor. 💀🖤
I've gotten the basics of her backstory laid out. I'll post more some other time.
She started out life in the Kingsport slums. She met her Master as a teen after making her way to Khejistan and trained at the Necropolis. He taught her necromancy and provided the formal education she was lacking. (Now she's like a semi-socialized stray cat that a well meaning foster home took in. She only bites occasionally.) She left before she'd have to take on an Apprentice herself. She didn't feel she was ready, but the Order was decimated during RoS and is still in dire need of new Initiates. Her idea is to one day return once she has more worldly experience. She's been an itinerant scholar/mercenary since then. Ending up half frozen in a cave was dumb luck. Or was it......

based on what claudia has done using dark magic for her family in the past (healing soren’s paralysis, bringing viren back) do you think she’ll try to bring back her own leg?
I think at most she'd use various kinds of magic (earth, dark, whatever "boneweave" meant at Scum Port?) to make herself a prosthetic, but no, I don't think she'll be able or have the mind to fully bring back her own leg. It does make me think it's more likely now that Runaan will lose his arm / be an amputee as well, though

I know it's not POPULAR anymore to say it, but I don't CARE what the woke crowd says. I SUPPORT the Boneweavers. They EARNED their necromantic skill through hard work. I'm not ENTITLED to have consistent number of limbs every single day, or to have the same amount of skin. Kids these days are too thin-skinned to handle being thin-skinned, or thick-skinned, or no-skinned, or bein' gifted a carapace of pure bone. Why, God gave us bones for a reason: so we can have 'em shuffled around by the best Boneweavers, and the US OF A has the best, freest Boneweavers in the entire goshdarn freaking world. That used to make us proud, but not since Biden

Review: Blood on the Soil, Terror on the Wind, ed. Kenneth Cain 4/5
Read this review on Goodreads!
This anthology from Brigids Gate Press is true to its premise - it is all horror, from talented authors, set in the dusty deserts and plains in the long-since-passed American west of our dreams, where the buffalo roam and cowboys travel from town to town, where monsters lurk in canyons and woods and something unknown sings in the night.
I enjoyed this anthology, but I do think certain stories were stronger than others. Some of the standouts, for me, were "Crimson Noon," because I love a good zombie-monster story and I need more of (view spoiler); "Ballad of the Overeager Gun" for sheer authorial balls, humor, and Papi's absolute over-the-top insanity; "Ada" for centering the human element of horror and for the potential that Ada and her vaquero meet again; "Boneweaver" because I need to know what happens next and I love some good, dark magic; and "The Wound is Covered," as a where the horrors of American colonialism and imperialism and the acts of genocide committed against the Indigenous peoples of the United States comes to a fitting and absolutely justified head as a woman gets her revenge on General George Wright, pun somewhat intended. Like I said, I liked this anthology a lot - the standouts were great, but a few clinkers caused me to knock a star off my whole review, and also because, while I liked them, none of them really moved me in a meaningful way? They were enjoyable, and spooky, and the anthology was everything it said it was, but none of it made me go, "Wow," Owen Wilson-style. There was no softly-whispered "holy shit" moment, although I was interested in devouring this book to see what the next story entailed. It was good. It was enjoyable. I liked it - it has some hits and some misses story-wise, but I'd recommend reading it, even if you don't end up purchasing it for your collection. The good stories in this anthology are good, and I wouldn't want to miss out on those just because you might be worried you won't like everything. Take a look at it! Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review!
