#because... how do you know they're unaware of the bad events?

yes, we shouldn't ignore the terrible events going on right now (Palestine, Sudan, etc), but I think we need some reminders because some of the posts i've been reading have been giving off *extremely* guilt-trippy vibes: Not posting about current events or bad things =/= not caring. Not reblogging =/= not caring. Adding "don't scroll past this" or "reblog this or block me" to posts is guilt-trippy as hell. And lastly, online activism is not the only form of activism.

Look. Look. I am as invested as the next person in a nuanced, well-developed exploration of the fractured relationship between the college trio, but I contain multitudes, and also just really need more AUs in my life where Maddie actually knows Vlad is now a ghost loser simp intent on getting Jack out of the picture and plans on ctrl-v-ing himself in his ex-best-friend's place like a badly photoshopped family picture, because I think this has the potential to be absolutely HILARIOUS.
Neither of them tells Jack because Maddie can't bear to break her husband's heart by revealing the truth about their long-lost friend, and Vlad won't tell him because, on top of the obvious reasons, Jack also keeps inviting Vlad to stuff. Family dinner? Danny's school events? Camping trips? It's remarkably convenient as it puts him in a great position to play Uncle Vlad until he can successfully enact his bonkers plan.
Except now, in addition to Danny knowing Vlad is up to no good and being very much not on board with the Fruitloop's whole shtick, Maddie's in the same boat too. But Maddie and Danny are keeping this info from each other because she still doesn't/can't know her son is Phantom and if Danny outs Vlad, Vlad will turn around and spill his little secret too. And for Maddie's part, she probably just doesn't want her son knowing that Vlad is a ghost. It's a bad look to admit you've welcomed a specter from the afterlife into your house (on multiple occasions) when you've spouted off how dangerous these creatures are since your kiddos could walk.
This sets up a scenario where you've got Jack: oblivious, Danny: trying not to reveal his secret while also keeping Vlad from murdering his dad, Maddie: being a badass ghost hunter protecting her family and blasting Vlad into next Tuesday every chance she gets, and Vlad: just, being very...Vlad about everything. Chaos and hilarity ensues.
Can you see my vision?
Jack's humming to himself while making dinner, back turned, unaware anything is amiss as Maddie saves his life, firing a blaster at Plasmius and sending him through a wall before he can attack her husband. She immediatley hides the ecto-weapon behind her back, giving a too-enthusastic "how was your day sweetie!" when Danny walks in the door, brows raised. Jack turns around at the interruption, giving a bright, oblivious, "Where'd Vladdy go?!" which prompts a groan and a "that guy's here again?" from Danny.
Maddie and Danny can bond over their shared aversion to Vlad's general existance, though neither of them admit there's a little more to it than just "he's an arrogant asshole." Or, better yet, they're both putting on the facade, keeping up pretenses, pretending they don't despise the dude, because how are they supposed to explain why they despise the dude? Vlad is impossibly amused by the whole song and dance they're doing, because of course, he's the only one who realizes that Maddie and Danny both know he's a half ghost and are keeping that from each other. And like, as if he's going to let them in on that little tidbit unless it directly benefits him.
Sometimes Maddie and Danny run into awkward situations where they're both trying to protect Jack, but they don't realize it, and they can't be overt about it without the other person realizing what's going on. "Don't you have homework? You go do that, I'll check on your father and...uncle Vlad." "Oh, no, no, don't you worry about it, you're so busy, Mom. I can go check on them!" "That's really not necessary. I don't mind at all." Meanwhile, Vlad is in the kitchen like "why don't you check that cooking oil with your face, Jack? Oh, I know it sounds unorthodox, but I swear that's how they do it in France."

Alhaitham:
You got to know Alhaitham because of the whole "saving Sumeru" fiasco, having worked with the Traveler and their team to overthrow the sages and rescue the Dendro Archon.
While you were always impressed with Alhaitham's intelligence, it was refreshing to see a new side to him in calmer moments, like the celebration feast that Nilou organized. You were surprised to hear him talk about how the people of the Grand Bazaar feel joy from the bottom of their hearts, something the people he knew at the Akademiya were foreign to and how he actually enjoyed the atmosphere of the event because of its special meaning. It wasn't a statement you had expected from him but you would lie if you said that you didn't enjoy when he subverted your expectations. That seemed to be something akin to a hobby for the scribe.
Since your chosen career paths made the two of you cross paths every once in a while, Alhaitham became someone you considered a friend, someone you saw occasionally and enjoyed to converse with. Small talk always turned into debates and complex discussions with this man and Alhaitham was enjoying that a lot.
He was actually the reason you met Kaveh in the first place. When he met you, you were suffering from a particularly bad headache and Alhaitham offered to take you to his house to give you a couple of painkillers, since his home was closer than yours. When you entered the house, Kaveh was kneeling next to the living room table, crafting a little house with matchsticks. Alhaitham didn't make much of the stinging feeling in his chest when you went over to his roommate and introduced yourself with a smile and excitedly commented on how much you liked his work. Alhaitham just simply rolled his eyes. "This is my roommate, Kaveh. He rather does little diy projects than try to get his life together."
He hated to see how well you started to get along with Kaveh. That you met him in the afternoons to hang out with him, sometimes more than you did with him. Alhaitham knew he probably gave off the impression that he didn't like spending time with people that much and was very busy with work and his studies. Still, you spending time with Kaveh prompted him to ask you to hang out with him more.
You thought this was simply him warming up to you more and you were happy to see it.
When you weren't around, Alhaitham couldn't help but sometimes look down on his roommate, telling him that he should probably get some money and a stable life first before he thinks of wooing you. Kaveh, however, always had a comeback. Mocking the way Alhaitham didn't seem to understand romantic gestures and how to express love properly. "I may be in a bit of a financial situation right now, but you're one to talk. Do you think y/n would fall for a guy like you? See, so be quiet." Kaveh, just like you, was blissfully unaware of the fact that Alhaitham also had feelings for you.
Alhaitham usually just ignored Kaveh's comments or answered with an amused smirk. However this time it made him wonder if there was some truth to his words. Whether that was what you wanted: a romantic man who brought you flowers and wrote you poetry and always knew how to express what he felt for you. Someone like Kaveh
Alhaitham, being more bitter than usual, happened to "accidentally" take Kaveh's keys more often when he went out, only for that to backfire horribly. He went to knock at your door to ask you if you wanted to grab dinner with him, only for you to open the door and for him to see Kaveh on your living room couch wrapped in a blanket with a tea you made him. You scolded Alhaitham for taking his keys again and explained that Kaveh didn't have a place to go so you let him stay here. "So, what brings you here?", you asked him with a smile. "I just wanted to give you back your pen. You left it at my house", Alhaitham said with a neutral expression as always and chucked Kaveh's key in the direction of the couch, "here's your key. Hopefully you'll move out soon so you won't need it anymore." With a quick comment on how he was busy and had to go, Alhaitham left again, leaving you and Kaveh wondering whether he was in a bad mood or something.
When you choose him:
It was one of the rare evenings, where, even though you now visited Alhaithams house quite regularly, both of the roommates actually decided to spend some time with you. You had come over to play a couple of rounds of Genius Invokation TCG against Alhaitham. Kaveh sat down next to you, giving you tips and making a few teasing remarks towards Alhaitham when you were close to defeating one of his characters.
Alhaitham didn't let that deter him. His strategy made you outmatched even if Kaveh was helping you. If only the two of you teaming up wouldn't make him sit so close to you and joke around with you so much. Since Kaveh wanted to play the game as well, it didn't take long for Alhaitham to grab his book and go outside to read, not wanting to watch Kaveh shamelessly flirting with you any longer. He shouldn't be bothered with this situation.
During a break, you went outside as well to find Alhaitham sitting on a bench in front of his home and reading his book. You didn't know that he was only staring at the pages, unable to internalize any sentence written there. "Why did you leave?", you asked and sat down next to him. You were willing to give Alhaitham the space he needed for his research, but you thought it'd be more fun to have him around. Plus, you were always looking forward to spending time with the man you had a crush on. "I wanted to read more about this topic", Alhaitham gestured towards the book and avoided your gaze, "besides, you don't need me to woo my roommate." He said that so casually in a matter-of-fact way that at first you genuinely thought Alhaitham just misinterpreted the situation but didn't care for the outcome. So you revealed the truth, knowing he wouldn't hold it against you. That you actually fell for Alhaitham and were looking forward to spending more time with him. "Kaveh knew, I guess that's why I've been talking to him that much more than usually...", you awkwardly put a hand in your neck as Alhaitham gave you a confident smile. "I should have seen that coming", he teased you, acting as if he never had any doubt you'd fall in love with a scholar like him, "well, worry not, I'm quite fond of you as well." You smirked back. "Were you jealous of Kaveh?" "Jealousy is for people with too many shortcomings", Alhaitham remarked dryly.
That's how you ended up leaning against Alhaithams chest, discussing how to proceed with your relationship. He talked as calmly and casually as usual and the only thing that gave him away was the rapid beating of his heart. He had an arm wrapped around you and gave you a sweet forehead kiss.
Alhaitham was not above being petty though. He knew exactly what Kaveh felt for you and he had no problem rubbing your love for him into his roommate's face; kissing you passionately in the kitchen while Kaveh was trying to make himself a milkshake. "Do you guys have to do that in our shared living space?", the blond architect sighed as Alhaitham was trailing kisses down your neck, repeatedly pressing soft pecks to the spot below your ear, smiling against your skin triumphantly considering how you hugged him closer and let out a happy sigh. Kaveh mused that this would be a long and miserable couple of months before he got used to this...
When you choose Kaveh:
Alhaithams heart was aching when he saw you kissing his roommate. He cursed the feeling he was experiencing. It was just love, it shouldn't bother him that much. It'd pass eventually, as all things did.
His face showed nothing of what he was feeling inside as Kaveh leaned his forehead against yours and the two of you were giggling about a joke he had made, you playfully hitting the architect with a pillow before Kaveh ripped the pillow from your hands and pulled you into his lap, kissing you tenderly.
To you and your boyfriend, Alhaitham was just as he always was. Calm, confident, a little distant and not very emotionally expressive. The scribe knew you had no idea of his feelings and neither did Kaveh. Maybe that was exactly the problem. Maybe that was why he lost you.
Maybe he should have shown you more that you meant something to him. He would never become a romantic like Kaveh and Alhaitham had no interest in pretending to be something he wasn't, but he could have told you more what he appreciated about you when the situation called for it. Reached out to you more to show you he liked spending time with you. Showed more interest in your passions. He was so caught up with trying to ignore his feelings for you that he didn't notice how deep he had fallen in love until it was too late. He looked at how you kissed Kaveh, how you stared at him like he was the most precious thing you had ever laid eyes on and Alhaitham wished from the bottom of his heart that this could be him.
But the scribe proceeded just as he always did. Focusing on his work and studies, still interacting with you the same way he would with any of his close aquaintances. To Alhaitham, loving you and seeing you love Kaveh was a rollercoaster of emotions. To you, Alhaitham remained the same through it all. No difference in behavior, no hint of feelings; just the usual. Alhaitham had missed the chance to show you he loved you. And now that didn't matter anymore, so he might as well continue as he always had; casually talking to you and trying to ignore the hurt in his chest when you'd lean over to Kaveh to press a kiss to his cheek.
Tumblr media
Kaveh:
Kaveh was still trying to process the whole Sumeru fiasco he was absent from. Not only did the sages get overthrown but Alhaitham had friends? People he brought over to his house? Well, it was mainly you and he occasionally saw his roommate talk to the General Mahamatra, Nilou or Dunyarzad but Kaveh was used to Alhaitham being a loner if his work and research didn't involve social interaction in any way.
What surprised the renowned architect was that you weren't nearly as obnoxious as his roommate. In fact, he grew to like you very quickly with the way you showed interest in his creative projects and were willing to discuss the arts with him. How you looked at the novel he was reading and revealed you had actually read it yourself, promptly discussing the most important plot points with Kaveh while Alhaitham was sitting across from you raising an eyebrow.
Kaveh found your presence very pleasant and it didn't take long for him to ask you to spend some time with him. He wanted to take you for a tour around Sumeru, showing you the buildings he had created, leaving the best for last. He felt a sense of pride when you marveled at the Palace of Alcazarzary and asked him questions about its construction process. Something he hadn't felt in a while considering he was broke and Alhaitham would remind him of his failures constantly, even if mocking him wasn't always his intention.
If only you weren't head over heels for the scribe. Kaveh caught feelings for you so fast, he hardly registered what was happening. The architect was a romantic at heart and was unashamed to admit to himself that he had fallen in love with you. You obviously trusted him and cared for him, otherwise you wouldn't have confided in him about your feelings for Alhaitham. Seriously, unrequited love was hard as is, but did it have to be Alhaitham of all people???
Kaveh didn't understand what you saw in the man. Even after you explained it with a chuckle, finding it amusing how the two of them were always bickering and how Kaveh was obviously shocked that you would fall for Alhaitham.
Still, because Kaveh loved you and because he believed that it was in our nature as humans to help others, he decided to put his feelings aside and support you. It would hurt to see you happy with someone else but it would hurt him even more to see you sad.
That's how Kaveh became your unfortunate wingman. Relaying all the information to you about what made Alhaitham tick and what things he liked. Letting you come over to their shared house so it prompted more interactions between you and the scribe. And watching how happy you looked whenever Alhaitham was giving you attention.
It hurt Kaveh but as long as you could be happy, there was nothing else he wanted to ask for from you. He loved you. Deeply and unconditionally. And the only thing he wanted was for you to live without regrets; fortunate and free to follow the path that made you happy.
Still, there was always a sliver of hope left in him. He knew you probably only let him stay with you out of pity that he was locked out of his house (again) but he loved the way you sat with him, wrapped in a blanket and slightly leaning against him (something he convinced himself was totally platonic), after having brought him a hibiscus tea (his favorite). The two of you were reading a play and Kaveh gave you some subtle hints, projecting onto the main character and explaining his feelings for the love interest. When in reality, those were just Kaveh's feelings for you. He didn't know if you caught onto what he was doing or if it was merely wishful thinking, but his heart skipped a beat when you explained how the love interest must be feeling for the main character, who was oddly similar to Kaveh, as well. It was a beautiful romance. One that Kaveh might never have but always dreamed that he would.
When you choose him:
The past few weeks had been hell for Kaveh. The last time he met you, you parted from him with plans to finally confess to Alhaitham. He never knew if you did it. You had been very busy with work and so had Alhaitham. He knew the two of you had met a couple of times since then, but if Alhaitham was your significant other, he sure didn't give any hints when he came home. Maybe the scribe just wanted him to suffer in uncertainty.
Kaveh was glad when you came over to his roommate's house to spend time and play Genius Invokation TCG with the two of them. When Alhaitham left to go outside and read his book, Kaveh finally asked the question that plagued his mind since he last saw you: "So...how did your confession go?"
Your reaction wasn't what he thought it would be. You chuckled and then awkwardly smiled at him. "Actually...funny thing happened", you began and Kaveh noticed how you were fidgeting with your hands, "....uh....I- well, I actually am not in love with Alhaitham anymore." Kaveh's heart started beating rapidly when you said those words. "Why's that?", he asked curiously, simultaneously trying to recover from the sudden turn of events. "Well, you see...over time I started falling in love with someone else", Kaveh's eyes widened when you took his hands into yours and looked at him with an honest smile, "Kaveh, I'm in love with you..."
Play it cool, was his initial thought to himself as his heart started beating even faster. But he was Kaveh and he could never play anything cool so what he did instead was basically throwing himself at you, hugging you and knocking you over onto the couch behind you while Kaveh buried his face in your neck as he was laying on top of you. It wasn't the first time you two had hugged but you could feel the relief Kaveh was experiencing. "Sorry that I made you wait", you softly spoke and pressed a kiss to his forehead, knowing that Kaveh enjoyed physical affection, "I had to sort out a lot of my thoughts." You could hear quiet sobs coming from the architect as he was tightening his hug and mumbled an incoherent "I love you" against your skin. "Hey, don't cry, okay?", you gently caressed the exposed skin of his back with your fingertips as Kaveh gradually calmed down and looked into your eyes, smiling before leaning his forehead against yours.
You held his hand, squeezing it to signal that you were not going to let go. Kaveh cupped your cheek and asked if he could kiss you, to which you nodded in response. Kaveh's kiss was loving and romantic, just as you expected of him and he pulled you into his lap and leaned his head against your shoulder. "I'm glad you came to your senses", he chuckled.
When you choose Alhaitham:
Seeing you kiss Alhaitham made Kaveh's heart sink in his chest. He knew that this was a possibility. He was prepared for this, or so he thought. And yet it hit him like a raging sumpter beast. He had lost you. And to Alhaitham, of all people.
He was happy for you. Somewhere in his aching, shattered heart he was genuinely happy for you. And he knew he would be able to support you as much as you needed to. One day. When his heart would heal.
But for now, he glared at the scribe who knew full well how Kaveh was feeling and made a point of kissing you passionately and and trailing kisses down your neck when Kaveh entered the kitchen. A quick and easy way to make sure Kaveh would leave the two of you alone for the rest of the evening. Instead, Kaveh took his play and went back to his room, locking the door, sitting on the bed and hugging a pillow as he allowed himself to cry into it. His muffled sobs were drowned out by the soft pillow and the sound of the rain hitting Alhaithams windows.
In this moment, Kaveh hated everything. He hated that he had no place of his own; that everything around him belonged to Alhaitham and now even you had given your heart to the scribe while Kaveh was dependant on the man who had no qualms rubbing his new relationship into Kaveh's face.
The unrealistic heart of a dreamer that Kaveh cursed a lot these days hoped that you would knock on the door and comfort him. Explain that it was all a mistake and that you loved only him. That you would hold onto him and stay with him and hold him until his tears would disappear. But the knock never came.

I think there's a better way to make informative posts for people that isn't framed with "Why is no one talking about this/of course (enter people not currently being affected) aren't talking about this/no one seems to care🙄"
I don't know how to tell you this, but more often than not, it might just be that people are unaware. Someone isn't a bad person because they haven't seen the latest news article yet. Sometimes, your post is literally the first time they're even hearing about said awful thing.
This falls into the same vein as "You must be an idiot if you don't know how to do this" as if everyone should be or is born with all knowledge. Not everyone is going to be aware of every little thing that is going on in the world, especially if it is not being actively or well covered by new media outlets.
Also! To assume just because someone isn't actively posting about something on here of all places that this somehow means they're a "bad person" is, frankly, very ridiculous. Sorry, but my life and what I choose to engage with on tumblr is actually very different than what I do in my real life. You have no idea if someone is donating or spending their time helping their community or educating themselves just based on looking at their blog. Furthermore, sorry, but I don't actually trust tumblr of all places as my reputable news sources, and neither should you. Any post about current events warrants investigating on the individuals part.
Framing a post with guilt-ridden language doesn't actually help spread your message. Try to maybe understand that, more often than not, the surrounding userbase probably just hasn't heard of what you're talking about yet, especially if it's one country centered. Someone is not a "bad person" because they haven't heard yet of the latest awful thing that's happening in a country they don't even live in (cough cough USA cough cough)

nabi. — teaser (release date 06.06)
pairing: lee donghyuck x afab!reader. content: smut, angst. miscommunication trope, exes to lovers, manipulation, toxic relationship, jealousy, college au, mention of jisung, mention of jaemin, (more to be added, is a surprise :D) full fic: 6.5k. teaser: 500 playing: 21 gracie abrams ;; somebody else the 1975 ;; white ferrari frank ocean ;; there you are zayn ;; people libianca x becky g ;; la la lost you 88rising x niki ;; style taylor swift ;; hostage billie eilish.
his mouth tastes like alcohol and something sweet, and you drown yourself in it, quieting your demons.
remembering that you are young, and there is so much to experience. hoping you could stop feeling so miserable when you set foot outside, at the thought of rebuilding your life. that you can find something else. that the world is so big… and your thoughts can be so small, they're almost relevant.
but you can't help but open your eyes. and look at him, across the room. with his lips on the girl. but his eyes on you. you unwillingly break the kiss. “fuck, you're fun to kiss, yn.”
you're about to pass on him and go home. this was a bad idea. you can't do it. but you stop yourself.
because your name on his lips reminds you that you exist.
“how do you know my name?” you ask, stunned. the boy smiles. “science,” he mentions, though it sounds more like a question. an amused smile appears on his face as if he finds it funny that you don't remember him, “we have science together.” you try to remember his face, in the classroom you deliberately ignore since you're ultimately in your head. “and we hooked up last semester.”
“i'm sorry,” you say, but that only makes me smile more. “i could have expected it,” he replies, “you're so out of my league.” his confession tugs you out of your lethargy like a punch straight to the stomach. he takes the bottle from your hand and takes a swig, watching your reaction to that information. “you're like… halley's comet.”
“you're hardly ever around, but when you do show up, you're breathtaking,” he admits, even now, knowing you didn't put any effort into your image. even now, being a quarter of what you were before. even now, working at 5%, sunk to shit. he finds you special..., pretty.
he takes your silence as an answer. his hand now caresses your chin, and you see him move closer. resting his lips on yours, he begins to kiss you. but it doesn't last long, because you break it. “i have to go.”
you curse yourself so much that you lose count. unaware of your surrounding and finding yourself in a pit (that you dig yourself) so deep that you forget what you have come for, rubbing your head because it looks like it is going to burst.
you don't see him approaching. he doesn't say a word, neither do you, when he drags you to his car. bodies colliding against the passenger sit door as his face comes closer.
he laughs, without a hint humor, pressing you against the car, pinning you in his embrace. watching him breathe ragged, showing how irritated he was, yet..., hands softly placed on your waist. “you should know by now. i don't share” eyes amusingly glaring at your lips, part open due to shocked events. words burning on his, marking itself on you, echoing as if you had heard them before. having a place in your memory, once lost in a burning house but now in ruins, remembered.
“you belong with me.”

Hi Vivienne, I hope you're doing well. I am so thankful that I came across this blog and The Human Renaissance, I look forward to reading every new article you put out.
This isn't really a question, just a topic I've been thinking about and I was wondering if you had any thoughts on it. Maybe it's just because I'm not particularly fond of forgiveness myself, or of the rationalizations people have for child abuse. But one of the things that frustrated me endlessly in radblr spaces was the excuses made up for nasty and abusive mothers. I've seen blog after blog of women with mommy issues who completely remove their abusers responsibility. It seems like they feel serious guilt for their existence supposedly ruining some kind of potential their mothers had before they were born.
Because she was socialized into wanting to be a mother, into PIV sex, into not getting an abortion, into being a housewife, into taking all of her problems out on her children, into grooming them to do the same, and none of this was within her control, or for her own benefit or privilege. All her life, just an unconscious, unaware NPC who isn't responsible for anyone she hurts or how her children grow up feeling about themselves.
I just don't buy it, or like the way they talk about female child abusers. I think the reason they do it is because it's hard to accept that their mothers could have treated them better if they cared to, and they just didn't. Men abuse women because they know they'll get away with it, they're aware of this. They talk about how abusers don't "lose control", they wait to unleash their temper on the right person, at the right time, they know who they can be toxic with and to what extent. Unless you're a woman, of course. Long-suffering mommies blinded by internalized misogyny just can't stop themselves from taking all of their bad choices and "patriarchal stressors" out on children, who they know have no choice but to endure whatever treatment they're given. The soap opera of it all is so exhausting.
Hello blueflower,
Child abuse is due to the seven deadly sins, all of which stems from sex-consciousness.
Everybody has a soul, but they definitely act soulless. We are just coming out of the Dark Ages and moving upward toward the Golden Age, so 99.9% of people are totally ignorant to the fact that they even have a soul, let alone the Divine Reality. They are so incredibly ignorant it's genuinely not worth paying attention to if you want to attain happiness. Attempting to explain the soul or prana in general is like trying to explain why grass exists to a cow who needs grass to sustain itself.
⚬ Archons in the Flesh
99.9% of individual souls are encased with the deluded Ego. The leader of these Egos are commonly referred to as "Archons" which are essentially spiritual parasites that feed on negative emotions which the obligate pleasure-seeker is bound to experience and the Archons of hell rake in the negative energy after mass disillusionment such as economy collapses, sex orgies, school shootings because this place is hell, after all.
To be clear, Archons don't cause any of these events, so they have no power. However, the Archon-Ego incites individuals to act against Karmic Law and Karmic Law sanitizes the filth. Ultimately, it is the individual who chooses their destiny.
But this negative energy harvest isn't limited to unseen entities as the spiritual is always made manifest in some manner. Since the average person has a parasitic ego, the traits of the archon can be applied to them, the main difference is the ordinary person can be satiated with a a few streams of negativity instead of mass calamities. Parents typically their children and animals for their abuse because of their bloodlust for innocence.
A lot of them also openly call themselves psychopaths which is code for "pure ego." They find this trait attractive in each other as the "kill all males" types, but they are also interested in killing, raping and abusing women, children and animals. It's only the natural progression. It's not possible for an individual with these fantasies to separate individuals based on having the right genitals. Everything a person thinks about is eventually made manifest. Also, what people actively defend, in this case abuse, is also what they engage in.
A few days ago, I heard a mother screaming at her son outside of a grocery store. She was screaming it at the top of her lungs at least 30 times saying "sit down," but the child was already sitting because he was strapped into his seat and couldn't move. It seemed like she didn't want him to move at all, as if she wanted him to be a doll. She fed on his distress, it wasn't about obedience.
⚬ What a Feminist Wants
Radical feminists express anger towards the world due to their inability to find satisfying sexual experiences with suitable partners, which is why they hate God. Their primary focus is on pursuing pleasure like most people. They do not seek "liberation;" if they did, they would already have it... they don't realize that it is their pleasure seeking that keeps them enslaved to men.
Activist movements centered around interpersonal relationships often stem from individuals' frustrations with their inability to find desired partners or from their experiences as spurned exes. They also exhibit narcissistic tendencies by demanding others cater to their contraceptive needs or agree with their lust-opinions. I have yet to encounter a feminist who genuinely believes in what they espouse. In general, activism serves as a dating pool or time-killer, with individuals looking for a partner to ultimately leave the movement. Beyond the mistreatment of children (which they ignore because they're evil), there is virtually no oppression left as everybody is too busy oppressing themselves. The most marginalized individuals are those who are pure-hearted and love God. Considering even Jesus Christ, the kindest person in history, was crucified for being a beacon of goodness, it would be foolish to believe that those who are completely dark are mistreated by their comrades in degeneracy.
Everybody who doesn't at least know Karmic Law are unaware NPCs which is why it's no use to be concerned with their troubles. All activists are background characters in this Drama because they don't even know that they are protesting against their own actions. Really listen to what they're concerned about: instead of opting out of what they claim harms them, they want the government to make amendments to what they do in the bedroom. Most people like to join groups because the more people in a group, the less responsibility the individual has which ironically leads to groups not getting anything done as opposed to the singular person getting everything done. Feminists and the like are not supposed to be active participants in the world during this lifetime, they're only here to act as filler people who cause distractions to those who have the potential to realize God.
⚬ On Forgiveness
Forgiveness is to free yourself from being bound to evil, not excuse it allowing evil to roam free. Do all that you can to subdue evil and that is to control the mind and body from which evil emanates, starting with your own. I was also thinking that most people had mommy issues which is why they believe that their sexual depravities were okay, but it wasn't okay for males. Most people think women are inherently pure which is not the case, but they have to increase their knowledge to see that women are equally depraved as males, but play the submissive role in their heterosexual dynamic.
Lust manifests in females through eroticism and romance and isn't as obvious. The depravity women engage in typically occurs in their mind since women are more mental and their emotions can gratify them for longer stretches of time as opposed to males who wish to experience physical gratification as soon as possible. The most common escalation I have seen are women delving into cartoons about teenage boys. I've found that males and female are equally pedophilic either because that is how the lust mind works. They don't lose control, they just operate through the Ego to put on a fake front of virtue.
I knew a heterosexual 24 year old who told me how sexy she found a 5 year old boy and briefly mentioned a sexual act she would do to him. The boy was sitting on a nearby bench while we were skating getting his skates tied by his dad. I asked her if I heard her right and she repeated that she was talking about the child with a smirk on her ugly face. The death and malevolence in her eyes at that moment made me hate her instantly and she was dead to me. I later officially ended our friendship by benevolently abandoning her on a roadside two towns over with several heavy shopping bags. As I drove off she told me she hoped God took everything away from me which didn't age well.
Every single person who allows lust into their mind (which always results in sexual activity) are demons. The lustful mind always escalates and because it will justify its increased desire for pleasure and most people welcome intrusive thoughts because lust causes insanity. Most people are scared to lose their Ego because they're scared to lose the "creativity" a decaying mind gives them but somehow never gets anything done with this illusive "creativity."
Words cannot adequately express the power of Karmic Law. I used to be skeptical of its effectiveness, but once I stopped looking at Law through a materialistic lens and listened to people speak and what actions they engaged in, I witnessed their enslavement in real time. Karmic Law's quadratic precision is undeniable, it's immediate and I'm a vessel for it. I came here to work.
Now, I know with absolute clarity that those with the lust-mind will never experience love or happiness because they lack love for God. I don't believe that non-forgiveness brings bad karma. In fact, it has guided me swiftly towards God. I have zero tolerance for lust because I see the bigger picture. I absolutely detest anyone who thinks it's amusing or edgy to be a degenerate and I will never forgive them. Those individuals despise innocence, purity and children which means they have hated me before I could ever hate them. I forgive for the sake of my heart not anybody else, and I forget to remain present with God, not to give somebody more chances. I do not have a modicum of pity for those hate God.
Forgiveness is often advocated by lukewarm believers of the Abrahamic faiths who secretly despise God. Ignore their advice and search within yourself for answers. They seek forgiveness because they are degenerate. Personally, I have never had to ask for forgiveness from someone else so, what have they done to find themselves in a position where they need to seek forgiveness from an Ego?
⚬ Degenerate Mothers
Most mothers are degenerate because most women are degenerate. Motherhood doesn't make a woman pure, it's the removal of lust from her consciousness and loving God which makes her pure.
A mother's purpose is to shower her newborn with love and devotion. Some become upset that mothers only talk about their children, but I think it's a good thing when a mother is consumed with love for her children. Parents must fulfill their duties to their offspring because they have chosen to not dedicate their lives to God, but the material world.
Nobody is socialized into being a mother, parenthood occurs when a male and female has sex. It's inevitable. When a male and female with lust-consciousness get together, what else is there to do other than penis-in-vagina sex? Sure there's blowjobs and anal, but there will be times where vaginal sex will happen and then a child arrives. Even if they are using condoms, there will be a day when they get tired of condoms or it breaks. There will be a day when birth control doesn't work too. If it is ordained for a child to enter the world, it will happen... even if every single person on the planet stops having sex.
Parents actively despise children because children get in the way of their precious sex. One of the most common quotes I've heard from heterosexuals is, "If you want to ruin your marriage and sex life, have kids." or the "if you want to keep your marriage alive, don't have kids." Many believe that it is childfree that hates children, but it's difficult to feel that strongly about children when you don't have to look after them every minute of every day. Parents as a whole, hate their offspring, but there are a few genuinely good and pure parents who understand their purpose.

Do you think why russia always smile despite russian portray as rarely smile ?
Out of universe reason is that Himaruya portrayed Russia with traits of the Yandere archetype. Yandere are characters that look sweet, happy and innocent but are actually able to be very violent, whether physically or psychologically, when something triggers them. A Yandere's trigger is always linked to the person they love, so technically Russia is not a Yandere but a Yangire. Yangire is pretty much a Yandere that rather than for love, snaps into a violent behavior for something else.
Ivan seems to usually snap when he's contradicted or opposed.
Apparently, Hima initially thought to portray Russia as closer to the usual Russian stereotype: he was supposed to be a man who looked more middle aged, drank a lot and didn't have great control on his emotions, easily experiencing breakdowns:
Tumblr media
I don't know much, but I think this would've made him closer to the perception external people have/had of Soviet times, that eerie, melancholic and/or depressing feeling that many piece of media seemed to convey.
Not gonna lie, I do believe Hima's taste for cute characters in general influenced his decision to turn Russia from that to the guy we know
Tumblr media
I think, making him a Yangire simply worked best to express the dualism Himaruya wanted to convey with his character.
I don't know much about Russian history but I think, perhaps while working on his character, Himaruya found himself learning about both very depressing and terrible aspects of its history alongside other 'softer'/'cute' things about Russian culture and traditions, and perhaps found these two sides interesting to conflate into the same character,
So you have Ivan who went through a lot of awful events, but also ended up relying on his childish, 'pure' side to cope with them. This is represented by his soft, cute aura, how he's usually smiling, quiet, a little shy and talks in a soft, sweet voice most of the time. However, since he tried desperately to preserve his innocence despite all the traumas he went through, he also preserved the downsides of being a child.
Hima has pointed out more than once that he's "cruel like a child", clarifying that he's unaware of his own cruelty. Because, in an attempt to shelter his child-like innocent self from all the bad things in the world, he also forbid himself from fully developing self-criticism and rationality, which is something small kids usually do not have much (and this is what allows them to be so spontaneous and pure both for good and for bad).
So basically, I think he just thought that Ivan being a Yangire made sense for what he had learned during his research about Russian history and culture, and since Yangire usually smile and look pure and innocent when they're in their "neutral" mood, he applies these traits to Ivan too.

This might seem a bit out of the blue to you, but I just wanted to say your old posts about Stephanie Brown changed my mind on her quite a bit, even if I still don't feel quite as strongly about it as you seem to haha. Overall she's a character with some interesting potential to her backstory, but she's been written awfully over the years. Your points are all really well-argued, even though for me it's hard to look past the Doylist context of the choices made with her character; from plain poor writing to mysoginy to editorial mandates and whatnot, so it's tough for me to outright *hate* her, but when I put the Watsonian glasses on... yeah, she does kinda suck, and Batgirl 2009 is pretty darn shallow. And honestly, TimSteph shippers outright baffled me--well, no they didn't, a lot of their outrage at the breakup was just pure biphobia, but if I were giving people the benefit of the doubt and assuming they genuinely liked the relationship as presented from Rebirth onwards it's like... why tho. They're such a boring couple, leaving aside the toxicity of Post-Crisis because I don't know much about it and just ick. Idk what I'm even saying here. Just expressing appreciation for the effort put into your posts even if I don't agree with absolutely every interpretation, I guess. Keep on keeping on
Thank you. I appreciate you saying all that.
It's not like I'm unaware of the Doylist reasons behind all the events that happen in-comics, I just don't agree with the idea that the way to fix that is to brush huge swaths of a character's history under a rug. That's just not how you do it if you're trying to reclaim a character who's been sexistly victimized, not if you're doing it well -- they didn't do it with Barbara after Killing Joke, or Carol Danvers after Avengers #200, or Gwen Stacy when creating Spider-Gwen, or with Harley when transitioning her into anti-hero, and those all resulted in great stories.
And male characters have to deal with the aftermath of bad shit they pulled under other writers all the time. Wally West only just put a final capstone on the events of Heroes in Crisis last month. Over in Batman, Bruce is catching the brunt of fall-out from both the Babel Protocol and the Batman of Zur-en-arrh. Hank Pym got labeled an infamous wife beater because one artist misinterpreted a script direction. Roy Harper has only just recently gotten back everything that Cry for Justice took from him.
So yeah, I think it's only fair to do the same with Stephanie, and that it does the character a major disservice not to. More than that, it's lazy. The least amount of effort needed to get people on the internet to stop yelling at them.
Killing her off for Bruce's manpain and having her around, alive, but presented as a flat, perfect little Princess Badass with a bland "quirky" personality and no interests outside the immediate needs of the plot are both examples of sexist writing. If you want to engage with her as a character you need to embrace the fact that she can be kind of an asshole, that she's got negative emotions and bad opinions and shitty ideas and things that she just plain sucks at. Of course she does! She's human!
That's all feminist writing really means. Treating women like they're human instead of just a plot convenience. It should not be that hard.

About Sydney and the temple (spoilers I guess): personally I like to be generous and think that Sydney, who we know is always wearing a holy pendant, is especially susceptible to outside influences like Auriga, potentially because of their dead parent's association with the temple. Additionally, worth pointing out that drugs are absolutely involved during both the Rite of Defilement & Rite of Promise, probably something similar to what gets used on Robin in the junkyard event, which is the sole Robin noncon event IIRC. Whatever incense the temple burns in the prayer room is a hallucinogenic that "opens the mind," and the "purification" process is explained to be how the temple forces Auriga's influence out of people... so I think by having corrupted sexy times in the special room people go to so they can get all Nine Inch Nails and get closer to (the) god(s), you're basically giving Sydney up on a platter to Auriga. The PC seems to be very similar to Sydney in that sense, given the TFs & Awareness mechanic. I also would like to note that Sydney's purity & Jordan's innocence have heavy overlap with the PC's Innocence state, where your Awareness is so far in the negatives that everything just flies right over your head, no trauma or weird shit here! 🙈🙉🙊 Harper may very well have slow roasted Sydney's brain into something easily influenced, too, after whatever happened to make Sydney possibly end up in the asylum, where Syd likely befriended the Ivory Wraith. We know Harper loves brainwashing- sorry, hypnotizing and drugging people, after all. The role of the asylum seems to be "fixing" people who break down from the constant nasty shit in town into a complacent and unaware state, so they can be further broken down and corrupted. (IMO the whole thing with Sydney possibly previously ending up in the asylum has got to do with why Sirris put the kibosh on Sydney & Kylar seeing each other. Pretty sure that's kind of implied to be the ritual gone wrong. Did Sydney witness what happened to Kylar's parents? I'm actually really curious about whether Kylar is "enlightened" or not, and if maybe that's why they're so... obsessive and weird.) I personally suspect that since Sydney's other parent once held Jordan's position, and Sydney may have accidentally proven themself "gifted" like Jordan & the PC, that is why the temple decided to make Sydney Jordan's successor. Jordan's whole deal seems to be that they are so oblivious to negative influences that they are willing the world into being more normal through sheer force of belief, though that doesn't seem to be working out too perfect for the town... probably because the Ivory Wraith is around, and people like Bailey, Briar, Quinn, and Remy are actively driving the town further and further into Auriga's grasp. Also, the PC exists, and most definitely is a similar sort of willful influence in their own way (hookah parlor), so... I wonder if maybe we're actually proving ourself to either become the Bishop's successor, or replace Sydney as Jordan's successor in the future, with the temple questline... 🤔
In conclusion: the town is caught up in a gang war between two opposing cults, and Sydney's just one more hapless victim like the rest. Just in their own, special way.
anon I love you for sending me this ask to chew on. thank you for the food
anyway my thoughts under the cut
100% agree that jordan/sydney's purity is totally just low-awareness. and i think for sydney part of that could very well have to do with getting like. lobotomized by harper. also ty for mentioning the syd ivory shit i think about it all the timeeeee
it's interesting to think about what could have sent sydney to the asylum... like, did it have to do with the death of their parent? the weird shit that went down with kylar's family? something else entirely? i want to know so bad. also speaking of kylar, I don't think sirris was the one who cut kylar off, I'm pretty sure it was syd's other parent. which makes sense given the context of their position in the temple-- it makes you wonder why their families were friends in the first place. I personally think it has to do with sirris' and kylars parents' connections to elk street (science?? work buddies of some sort???)
i do think sydney's kind of a tragic character, and i think the problems they already have are exacerbated by their circumstances. i don't think their lil outbursts are completely because of outside influence-- i think that they legitimately have a problem with that kind of shit, and that they're probably a lot more fucked up than they let on. i could talk more abt that but this i'm getting off track lmao
the replacing jordan/the bishop point is an interesting one hehe... it would be kinda funny if pc swooped in and replaced jordan instead of sydney, the kid who's been carefully groomed for years into being the ideal puritymaxxed jordan replacement
anyway i have so many thoughts but this is already so long and my brain is half-functioning rn. ty anon, talk to me about sydney and dol lore anytime <3

"Rascal Does Not Dream" Double Feature review-ish thoughts
Tumblr media
I attended the North American "Rascal Does Not Dream" double feature (subtitled edition) yesterday on March 24th. This was one of those Fathom Event things, and it served as the official North American premiere for both Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid. At 73 minutes apiece, they're pretty damn short for movies... but I've seen even shorter in the anime world, weirdly enough. These would be the second and third movies after the "Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai" 12-episode series and its first movie sequel, 2019's Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl.
If you're completely unaware of this series, I implore you to ignore its admittedly awful titling convention. This is all based on a set of Japanese novels revolving around teenage (ofc) protagonists Sakuta Azusagawa and Mai Sakurajima as they contend with the bizare phenomenon that's come to be called "Puberty Syndrome" (sometimes called "Adolescence Syndrome"), in which the emotions of teenagers/pre-teens/young adults are able to somehow affect reality via quirks of theoretical quantum physics. So in this world, if someone wishes they could redo a bad experience? They might start looping said experience ala Groundhog Day. If someone feels two sides of their personality are diametrically opposed? They could literally split into two separate versions of themselves. Only somehow resolving the underlying issue can fix these bizarre sci-fi events.
The first four arcs of the TV series could be described as "A boy is made to understand and empathize with how hard it is to grow up female." After that, starting with the final arc of the TV series and up through these movies, you could describe the story as "A boy is made to understand and empathize with people who struggle with disabilities." I have tons of respect for how the series is basically all about trying to provide deeper understanding/sympathy for everyone around us.
I'm an anime-only plebe who hasn't read the books these are based on or the manga adaption, so that obviously will affect my view of the story. With that said...
Tumblr media
Sister Venturing Out is basically the emotional sequel to the TV series' final arc, the "Sister Home Alone" story. That one contains an emotional sequence that has made me cry on MULTIPLE viewings, which I consider to be some of the highest possible praise. I have to say that Sister Venturing Out has a similarly devastating scene that flips the script on what was so painful in "Sister Home Alone" and effectively shows the pain of the OPPOSITE side of the relationship. So: major props. It's a slow-build sort of tale without the tension inherent to some of the franchise's arcs — the central gimmick of "Puberty Syndrome" barely plays a role here — but it works well at delivering on emotional payoffs and character moments. I previously felt that "Sister Home Alone" was the most emotionally intense story in the series, but Sister Venturing Out is an easy rival to it.
Tumblr media
Knapsack Kid, on the other hand, is all about Puberty Syndrome business and the suspense of how to resolve it. Unfortunately, I don't think it works nearly as well as Sister Venturing Out because it's so clearly in need of a longer runtime to flesh out its ideas. As the story stands here, the existence of the titular "Knapsack Kid" is never even remotely explained! Series fans know that we usually expect Rio Futaba to provide some kind of quantum theory that suits the weirdness occuring, but Rio only shows up long enough to vaguely hand-wave the reality-warping shenanigans at play. Nobody ever provides any justification for why Sakuta is being guided by an all-knowing childhood version of his girlfriend. How does she know so much about what's happening? How can she jump between... realities or timelines or whatever she's doing? Why her, and more importantly, why her as a child? Shouldn’t the CHILD version of Mai know LESS about this stuff? Normally, the series would have fun explaining this; here, they want us to stop thinking and just feel it. And admittedly, the emotional moments are still pretty strong. I just think I would've felt them harder if I understood more about how and why this was all happening.
Although the series has always had its emotional moments in each story arc, the fact that these two stories have so little room to breathe means we lose out on a lot of the humor and witty dialogue that the TV series managed. There's still some of it in here; it's just not as common because we don't really have much time to spare onn comedy.
We do, however, seem to have time to spare on setting up future stories! Two plot threads are set up that do not pay off in these films but instead are events for the upcoming "University Arc." A little tease at the end of the second movie (after the post-credits scene; don't miss out on that) says that "Animation Production is Confirmed" for the University Arc — whatever the hell that means. A new TV season? There are four books so far in the "University Arc," so that seems possible. A bunch more movies? It definitely implies something longer than just one additional film. Whatever this turns out to be, I look forward to it.

(Deciding if I should put this as anonymous or show my avatar...I just don't want anyone coming after me when I ask or say this stuff. They're just questions and I like to hear your answers...ah, screw it, I'm just gonna show my avatar. XP )
I got two questions and one opinion. Here's my opinion: I hate how they made Aang in Korra. People say that he was a bad dad, and I feel like he was written that way on the show, which wasn't intentional, but it looked like it was...by the creators themselves. It would seem the creators are in denial of how they made Aang, cause he's their fave character or something. Don't get me wrong, I like Aang too, but...the creators are really unaware of how they made him into a bad dad in Korra. ^^;
Now for the two questions:
Let's just agree that ATLA is the superior show, and Korra is...eh. Now, Kataang happened on that show, which is fine. HOWEVER, do you think if Taang happened, the events in Korra would've been a WHOLE LOT different and maybe a whole lot...better? Cause Aang's kids' Bumi and Kya in Korra felt unwanted by him in a way and Katara would've said something(which I honest-to-goodness think the whole Kataang hooking up 3 months later after the war in ATLA thing is poor writing. Like let us SEE what happened after that!), whereas Toph would've been like "Twinkles, no, get your priorities straight." And honestly, the Aang WE know would cherish those kids either way, it wouldn't matter if they weren't airbenders. I guess what I'm saying is, do you think Aang and Toph would've been the most awesome and take-in-charge power couple ever and that it would affect the story in Korra in general? Think deeply on that.
Do you think Kataang was necessary for the story of ATLA? I mean, I'm kind of being honest, I don't think anything would've changed if it wasn't included. However, I honestly do believe that Taang would've changed and affected Korra a lot more, whereas people would say Zutara would've affected ATLA. Course, I'm a big Taang fan, and I like Zutara a bit, but I'm mostly Team Taang. XD I just also think it would've made sense for Aang to not be so hooked up on Katara and actually start finding other girls attractive(cough, like Toph, cough) as he grows. It's just...I feel like the whole last part of ATLA was just bad writing. ^^; What are your thoughts?
Wow, first of all, thanks for taking the time to write to me! i really appreciate it ( ͡👁️ ͜ʖ ͡👁️)
Regarding your opinion, I COMPLETELY AGREE. I get that Aang only had Gyatso as a father figure until he was 12 y/o, so he's a bit screwed on that front, but I am CONVINCED that what they did with his paternity was an aberration. I mean yes, surely he had to be absent due to his duties as the avatar, but I REFUSE to believe that he would have taken ONLY to Tenzin on a trip to learn the customs of the air nomads. If there is something that ATLA made clear to us, it is that no matter what nationality you come from, Aang is always going to want to make you smile and show you the fun that can be had, so yes, it doesn't make ANY SENSE to me that he wouldn't have brought to ALL their children to their trips. On the other hand, even though it might have happened a few times (because Aang is a bit of a dork pff lmao), Katara would have NEVER let that happend. Aang would have noticed and would have done ANYTHING to make up for the lost time with his two other children, so yeah, totally agree with you there.
I got excited so I'll try to be more brief with the questions ( ͡눈 ﹏ ͡눈)
Well, there are several comics after the Hundred Years War that more or less show Katara and Aang's relationship (and I'm not going to lie to you, even though I love Taang, Kataang are such a cuties). And regarding Taang as parents, I once read a post from @stitch1830 in response to something similar, and I couldn't agree more. More than opposites, both complement each other perfectly, and I think that in the same way that they do it romantically, they would also do it as parents. Toph, grounding expert that she is, would have been stern if she had noticed that Aang had preferential treatment with any of their children. Similarly, we know the flaws in Toph's motherhood, and I feel like Aang would have managed to balance the excessive freedom she gave her daughters, giving them more structure to their lives and a respect for traditions. On the other hand, I'm VERY SURE Toph was terrified growing up of her daughters being alone (of course, she's too stubborn to even show it), I guess afraid that she might be a terrible mother like her parents were to her. No doubt Aang would have calmed all those worries. AAGH I LOVE THEM SO MUCH (╥︣﹏᷅╥)
2. While Kataang wasn't necessary (it certainly wouldn't have affected the plot too much if it hadn't happened), I think it was a natural fit between the two. Extremely stressed and full of traumas from the war, Katara was the safe, maternal and familiar place that he needed so much, while for Katara, Aang was the hope to cling to, the calm she needed from all the anger contained by the war with the fire nation. Let's say that both of them were attracted to each other for those reasons, because they needed each other.
But you're right, for me, the love that Aang felt for Katara was something platonic, something that had to pass as his first love, after all, she was the first girl he met and who technically saved him from the iceberg. As you say, it would have been much more interesting if both of them grew up to realize that they were each other's support in times of war, and eventually broke up to meet other people (i mean, they met at 12 y/o and 14 y/o, and you say they were together ever since for the rest of their lives? I don't think it's realistic. I guess Aang's world travels and Katara's desire to work in the southern tribe would have also driven them apart over time.
My Taang headcanon is that their relationship started because, first, Aang has to continue to travel the world for his avatar duties, and on the other hand, because Toph hates being stuck in one place, loves freedom, and traveling the world is what connected her the most with it when they were at war. That way she would have joined his travels and little by little they would have begun to fall in love. It would have been entertaining to watch Aang and Toph go through the conflict of realizing that they find each other attractive. (Aang like: "Since when is my sifu so cute? If I fall in love with her she'll kick my ass!, Toph by her side would have been like: "Me? In love with twinkle toes? That skinny? (who is no longer so skinny cofcof) i prefer to be dead before!)
Yeah, I said I was going to keep it short- but FUCK, I really wanted to be able to express everything I was thinking. Thanks again for asking! I'll always be on the lookout and ready to continue talking about a thousand years of Taang and why I think they work so well, cheers!

Fun fact about Furby, but because I adopt seniors with disabilities only I usually feel too bad to change their name.
The shelter I got both my boys from does already as a little extra just distance from their old lives. (My other rescue Duckie was dropped off at a vet to be euthanized. He was severely neglected. Close to death from untreated diabetes and his old owners not giving a single shit about him his whole life. There's even some question as to exactly how old he is because his teeth are so bad the vet deduced he was either much older than they said or he had profoundly poor nutrition for a long time. Left to suffer. They didn't want to pay to have him recover. Vets will sometimes get owners like them to sign papers relinquishing ownership, promise to put the pet down, then call around to see if any shelters have the room to get an animal like him into recovery. Whoever used to have him, as far as they know, he's been dead for years. Changing his name gives the vet a bit of cover in the event his old owners see a picture of him on social media and recognize him. Like, Duckie has some pretty distinct markings on his face, but like, as far as they'd know it's just as likely a eerily similar cat to the one they abandoned. What they did is totally legal, but, for some reason people get weirdly pissed to find out the animal they left to die alone is doing well and has a better life.) But by the time I get them, they've usually been in the shelter for a while. Special needs senior animals are hard to adopt out, obviously. It usually feels a bit mean, you know? Third name change after all that.
However, I made an exeption for Furby. Unfortunately since the shelter gets so many cats and they all have to be named different shit, some of them end up with real bad ones. Furby's shelter name was apparently a model of German car, hard to pronounce, and un-fucking-spellable for my dyslexic ass. I literally don't even remember what it was, and can't spell it accurately enough for Google to guess. Because of that he had a million nicknames and basically responded to anything anyway.
When I saw Furby, I fucking fell in love instantly. He doesn't seem to be all Persian, but he's clearly at least a good chunk Persian. I love Persians. I've loved them every since my little 12 year old Warrior Cat kid ass was instantly taken by best girl hag queen Yellowfang. This is no judgement to people who get pets from breeders, but, personally, I'm uncomfortable with supporting the pet breeding industry even as it pertains to "ethical" breeds, let alone unethical ones. And for those of you unaware, as gorgeous little gremlins as Persians are . . . At best, they're on par with pugs. It depends on what kind and how severe their face squish. And even before all that, just personally, in today's current pet trade market it's shelter or bust (in terms of cats and dogs, not other kinds. But even for rabbits and stuff I feel it's good practice to always check shelters first.) Persians are expensive, fancy cats, unlikely to end up in a shelter at all, and if they do, they'll be adopted out in a blink of an eye. Which is good, don't get me wrong, but, I try to always go for the ones who nobody but me would want. That's why Furby just seemed fated to be mine. Old? Needs special medical care? Tragic backstory? Completely unwanted and stuck in foster care for ages? That's MY KIND OF PET, BOyo. That he has this stupid short muzzle that makes him look like he's sucking on a lemon perpetually since he has no teeth and this big fat forehead that makes him look like a toddler about to fly into a temper tantrim was a special treat. He sits on the back of the couch with his front paws crossed and looks like the snobbiest little shiteating twink and I fucking love him with every cell in my body.
He looks exactly like the 1998 Furby I had as a kid. The white one with black spots. I collect furby stuff, as I am a toy collector and modder obviously, so the name seemed absolutely perfect. . . Too perfect. Profoundly far too perfect. In what I can only describe as a cosmic troll-job, he happens to also have something else very much in common with the 1998 Furby I had as a kid.
He. Never. Fucking. Shuts. Up.
In his distinct high pitched wail (if you've heard a Persian meow before, you'll know what I mean) he cries incessantly. Dare I not pay attention to him when he demands it, nothing but screaming. Unfortunately like an idiot, I've reinforced the behavior by accident. The more annoying he is the faster I'll drop everything to get him to stop with food or pets, so now he just goes full Final Girl to get what he wants as fast as possible. The only way he isn't like his name sake is that he has no batteries to remove in a desperate bid for peace. Like all cats, he's an agent of chaos unrivaled by any other animal on the planet. The degrees him and his brother can cause mischief in my daily life is unparalleled.
That sounds all extremely negative, but like, believe it or not this is exactly what I love about cats. I went through a very long battle with what felt like and endless cascade of health problems I'm only now starting to actually recover from over the past three years, and I don't think I would have survived it without my boys. No matter how sick or depressed or lost in a endless mental fog I got, these little pissbabies managed to get me to interact with them or there would be hell to pay. They managed to be as charming as ever charm me even while they caused all the fucking mayham they could.
Even when I felt like staying in bed until I rotted and died, Furby screamed until I got up. Duckie sent stuff crashing to the ground until I snapped out of my haze.
Non-cat people think cat lovers are insane, but like, it's never a fucking dull moment with them around. The will of cats is infamous, and in a lot of ways I think the real reason I managed to survive all I did was because it was inconvenient for my two little goblin kids to have to find another forever home if I kicked it, so they made sure that didn't happen.

Whenever I check the Drayton tag, it always makes me smile to see new asks on this blog. Truly fueling my thirst for Drayton stuff that's angsty or wholesome like to each their own but a lot of Drayton stuff I've seen often paint him being a bully / antagonistic to Kieran. Seeing many anons share their hcs has been so nice!
I wanna share some BB E4 hcs!
- Crispin likes to experiment with his cooking! Drayton is often his testing buddy before giving the improved versions to Lacey and Amarys. Drayton complains playfully about Crispin playing favourites
- Amarys manages the club budget so she usually checks the requests made to utilise it. She often rejects Drayton's suggestions of holding 'wild parties' under the guise of team building / bonding'.
- Lacey and Drayton have crossed paths with one another when they were kids. Clay and Drayden have brought them to party events before. For as much as Lacey gets on Drayton's case about how he dodges the administrative side of the club, she trusts him with the battling side.
- Despite his slacker status, Drayton is actually really good at handling new members who are super shy / nervous. His laid back attitude and chattiness helps ease these members, and he's also open to answering battle related questions. It still surprises his friends when he just rambles about different training methods for Dragon-types, sounding rather animated for once
Anon I'm fucking crying these are so dope cbxmbcnd ough BB E4 friendship is so really your honour it's so so real and so canon and they're really close and they remind me of the og Unova kids in my hcs hcmdbd
But also of fucking course Drayton would throw parties and say they're for team building exercises lmfaooo Amarys has to really check their budget lest someone falls for Drayton's "team building exercises" again hahaha
Also Drayton and Lacey childhood friends🥹🥹
Your honour imagine cbxnxn that'd be so cute but also since they're childhood friends they're also kinda like siblings lmfao, ofc Drayton's gonna annoy Lacey too, Iris isn't the only one who's fun to annoy. But also, not only do guys run away when Lacey mentions Clay is her dad, but imagine if Drayton is also part of the reason they run away hahah
Like they know Drayton is so chill and laid back, but they also know how protective he is of his friends, plus they're not gonna fucking challenge a champion level trainer that's actually trained by a legit champion, his Archaludon can probs sweep their teams. But it'd also be funny if Lacey is so so unaware of Drayton like, looking threatening from behind her, giving off the vibes that he will let his Archaludon attack at any guy or girl who wants to be w Lacey lmfao
But also him being like that to all his friends, like if he doesn't like someone, they would know, cause his smile is a bit too forced when talking to them
Also isn't it canon that Crispin kinda has a crush on Lacey?? Fucking imagine that convo w Drayton lmfaooo
Just "Lacey's really cute, should I ask her out??"
"if you value your life, no."
"huh? Why? Is it because of her dad?"
Your honour pls he's just a lil bit oblivious bcmxbd hahaha
Also y'know Crispin low-key gives off enby vibes, idk, it's the way he looks, idt he'd care much abt how people perceive him, all he cares abt is his friends, pkmn, and cooking
Speaking of cooking imagine if he's like, Gordon Ramsay kinda guy when he gets pissed off when someone ruins a dish tho lmfaooo imagine him yelling out cussed bc someone used the wrong technique or ingredient for a dish or even just dissed smth he made
I picture Amarys not being able to cook that well, everything she makes always gets burnt, Crispin once invited her over to teach her how to cook starting w basics but for some godforsaken reason she still managed to burn grilled cheese
"how..?? How in the Distortion World did you fuck that up??"
"that's the first time I've heard you say that word. Is it truly that bad?"
"Amarys, look at me in the eyes and take a bite outta that sandwich. Is it edible to you? Do you think it's edible? Do you think it's something people would willingly eat?"
He made her redo it ten more times till she got it right hahaha
But yeah omf these are so dope anon chxmnd

Since Thanksgiving weekend started, I've taken to repeating various phrases to myself that are, more or less, to the effect of "I can't please everyone, and that's okay."
I think I've mentioned this in the past, but when it comes to the more unhealthy aspects of my social media usage... it's weird. I couldn't care less about whether I become the most popular blog on Tumblr due to how niche my interests tend to be, but I do care about whether people like me or not and the silent rejections often hurt more than verbal ones. If someone comes on to my post telling me that it's illegal like X and Y characters because they did this and that in canon, it's a simple matter of blocking them and moving on because they're literally being an ass for no reason.
But there have been multiple occasions where I discovered that a blog that I have never once directly interacted with has blocked me and it always ends up being the most distressing thing because I have no idea why. Do they simply not like the characters/ships that I post about? Was there a personal post that rubbed them the wrong way? Did I reblog a post from a blog run by a known bigot? Am I not posting/reblogging enough about tragic real world events? Is there a slanderous rumor being spread about me online that I'm unaware of? There is no way to know because I have never once actually spoken with this person and it's agonizing because it feels like I did something wrong when, in the most likely scenario, I didn't actually do anything. Some people will not like you for the simple reason of finding you annoying or even just one post not sitting well with them, and if they decide to block you over it, it's their choice. You can't do anything about it.
There's an oft quoted tweet by Dita Von Teese that states "You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be somebody who hates peaches." I try to be as kind and considerate as possible while still holding true to my personal values, but no one is perfect and I do make mistakes from time to time. I also absolutely understand why people might find me annoying. I like to think I'm open-minded, but really, I can be pretty opinionated at times and I only tend to hyperfixate on one or two pairings I like from whichever fandom I'm currently in. If you followed me, there is a pretty good chance you enjoy shipping content revolving around a dork ass prince with a bad haircut and the sassy amnesiac girl he switched places with, or are at least tolerant of it. If that's not your cup of tea, I can't help you because Arthur/Frey makes me happy and I'll probably only stop posting about them when I inevitably switch fandoms.
At the end of the day, I am just trying to be healthier about how I use social media because tying my self-worth to what strangers on the internet think of me is not good, especially when none of them actually know me.

(#also dimitri isn't as narratively interesting as claude and i stand by that") 👀👀👀 is it alright to ask if you explain a bit what you mean? literally have never seen anyone think that before lol it always seems like claude's the one people think is uninteresting
Sure!
To preface this, I should note that I like Dimitri and think he's well-written on a technical level. But his story fails to really hold my attention for longer than it takes to replay Blue Lions, because after that I don't know where else his story can go.
Put simply, I don't know what Dimitri's flaws are.
Not in the sense that I don't think Dimitri did bad things—obviously he did—but where did those things come from? For the most part they came from his trauma-induced breakdown, and from his desire to protect the weak becoming so strong that he is willing to do unspeakable things to his enemies. And that's...not really a result of flaws that real people have that screw them over in everyday life and relationships. Dimitri violently slaughtering Imperial soldiers and threatening to torture Randolph to death are very much tempered by extenuating circumstances, both because he's very clearly traumatized and hit an understandable breaking point and because these are people trying to invade his home and subjugate his people. Now you could argue that Dimitri's flaws are his bloodlust and anger issues...but again, that bloodlust is never turned against the innocent, and the rage issues don't do anything worse than hurt his friends' feelings.
I think of it this way: in an alternate universe where these characters got to grow up and live relatively normal, peaceful, happy lives with loving families, what would their flaws be? And in such a world, Dimitri would basically just be Marth 2.0. I don't know how he'd screw up in a way that is unequivocally his fault. The problems Dimitri has that are explored in-game came about largely because of trauma from the Tragedy of Duscur, and don't seem like flaws he might have had without it. Without that particular event...who is he, exactly? And not in the "traumatic events shape you into the person you are" sort of way; more in the "traumatic events were the only way we could think to round out this character" sort of way. There are plausible issues that he might have...but they're things I'm having to come up with on my own, not things that I've been given within the narrative itself.
And the way that fandom talks about Dimitri doesn't really make that better. I agree that Dimitri is motivated, at his core, by a sense of empathy for the suffering that is so powerful that he isn't able to mentally handle the strain of all the injustice that people endure...but that isn't a terribly interesting flaw. It reads more like the one person in a job interview who says that their biggest weakness is working too hard (which is, incidentally, the only flaw Dimitri is shown to have once he recovers—which, again, removes quite a bit of agency from his breakdown and rampage and therefore makes him less interesting). Dimitri feels very much like a character in a story, someone who had to be broken down and then built back up again in a very dramaturgical way.
But look at Claude's flaws. He pries too closely into other people's secrets and he's sometimes insensitive to what others are doing. He looks at Almyra through rose-colored glasses, unaware of the problems that are affecting the average citizens. He hurts Marianne by pushing her too hard and he makes assumptions about Cyril, the Church, and Rhea. He snoops around and prods people that he thinks are hiding something and yet immediately gets his hackles up when Balthus figures out his secrets. Some of those things are resolved (like apologizing to Marianne and realizing that the Church might have good reasons for hiding some things), others are not. But those are real problems that real people have, because real people are contradictory and real people make conscious choices that hurt their friends. Claude feels like a real person with real flaws that he's still going to have to unpack after the story of FE3H proper is done.
And that's so much more compelling to me. Claude being so relatively well-adjusted and normal compared to Dimitri and Edelgard is a double-edged sword, but one of the benefits to that is that his flaws are more relatable. He feels, despite Intsys's best efforts, like a real person who is grounded in a nuanced portrayal of a human being. Dimitri just doesn't.
Basically, I think it's narratively much more interesting to just...let a character be a dick sometimes.
