Things stuck out to me while watching cutscenes in AC Odyssey: 1) Deimos almost always goes for the head. 2) Deimos has a grudge against Sparta (valid). 7 out of 9 kills in game are Spartans. Screenshot proof under the thingy. TW for violence, death

What, in your personal opinion, would you say are the main mistakes made by Athens during the Pelopennesian War? What could they have done to win?
This is not my area of expertise at all (I would recommend @warsofasoiaf or Bret Devereaux) so I'm going to be going back to the couple of classes I took on ancient Greece in my undergrad days.
Tumblr media
I would argue that the Athenians' initial defensive strategy under Pericles and then its more aggressive successor under Cleon and Demosthenes was in general quite successful against the Spartans. The Battle of Amphipolis was very much a close-run thing that still resulted in Athens being able to challenge Spartan hegemony on the Peloponnese for the first time.
However, I think Alcibiades was the most significant factor in the Athenian defeat. Having squandered Athens' opportunity to crack Spartan land power at Mantinea, Alcibiades went all-in on his Sicilian expedition - and then promptly defected to the Spartans, fracturing Athenian political unity. The Sicilian expedition all but destroyed Athens' naval hegemony, and even after they were able to somewhat recover, the mounting losses and internal conflict meant that Athens could not fight both Sparta and the Persians at the same time.

🗡️🪶🤠⚔️👸🏻🐓Xenadley & Gabrijake🐓👸🏻⚔️🤠🪶🗡️
The Battling Bard of Potidaea and the Warrior Princess of Amphipolis are known reincarnated soulmates.
Here are their latest reincarnations…. 😉
Tumblr media
A.K.A. Bob and Callie’s plan to matchmake Jake and Bradley together. Wear the -visually pleasing- outfits of the purest soulmates, then TRY not to romantically jump one another.
(Bob and Callie are X:WP hardcore fans. They go to conventions and bingewatch the TV-show together! That’s how they got the idea…They needed a better plan than Nat and Javy’s. First pair to succeed wins the jackpot – paid trip to New Zealand and getting all the kudos for dealing with THEM.)
Nat & Javy each teases their BFF, ignoring they’d lose. Right now, they have too much fun making them blush!
Meanwhile Icemav & Warlone/Cylock are on a double date although Cyclone has to be bribed to come at the Hard Deck. Too many shenanigans going on there, according to him. Warlock is a cool dad, he gets the reference right away! (Who is he kidding. Bob & Callie definitely met Solomon at previous conventions!) meanwhile Mav is motherhenning hard and Ice still is the smartest guy with the best plans...😏
All artistic credits go to @enthyrea who made this wonderful piece of art I commissioned from her.
You should DEFINITELY go check her art! ❤️❤️❤️
Storm, thank you for bringing together my beloved comfort TV-show and Movie! 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Fanfiction
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Three long fics and a bunch of shorts, drabble, and incomplete fics. Multiple ships, mostly mlm, some het.
All works are rated M unless otherwise noted, because there is canon-typical violence at times and there are multiple mild sex scenes. Some of these works are explicit - please be sure to check before reading if you aren't into that.
All on AO3 unless otherwise noted.
The Good Spartan
aka. the Alexidas The Good Spartan Summary: It's 431 BCE. Brasidas prepares to take up his first major posting, unaware of all that lays before him in the coming years of the Peloponnesian War. The story is told almost entirely from Brasidas' perspective and follows him from before his first major historical action at Methone to his last, at Amphipolis. This is a crossover between AC Odyssey and Thucydides' history, The Peloponnesian War, favouring Thucydides. I am being as historically accurate as I can, game canon is paid lip service at best. Historical notes are included at the end of each chapter. Snippets on Tumblr: Bardas || Antidas || Diomede || Adimantos In Every Life (The Good Spartan Poem) (Alexios’ POV). The Good Spartan Drabble [Google docs, More additions to come in time.]
Another Life: [Alternative Ending of The Good Spartan, WIP]. Summary: Brasidas survives the Battle of Amphipolis, thanks to Alexios' visit to the Underworld; but even before the battle, he knew he'd never go back to Sparta. He's no longer a good Spartan, nor willing to make the sacrifices required to go on pretending to be one. He just needs to persuade Alexios, and recover from his wounds… and together, find somewhere they might have a little peace.
Another Kind of Odyssey series:
aka. the Thalexios The Warmth of Home Summary: After the events of Odyssey, Alexios has been hiding from the world, loitering in the northern regions of Greece. When he decides to return to Athens for the winter, Demosthenes seeks him out for a job only he can do - whether he wants to or not. This leads him to cross paths with Thaletas again, discovering that this old flame burns the brightest of all.
Unfinished Business Summary: Stentor arrives at Stymphalos, where Thaletas and Alexios settled three years previously. He comes with a message: Alcibiades is in Sparta, and wants to see Alexios - urgently. Answering this seemingly innocent request will sweep them all into events they could not foresee, and had hoped would never occur...
The Turning Tide Summary: Spring, 413BCE. The Peace of Nikias has ended. Sparta and Athens are at one another's throats again. Before the Peace, Sparta was having few successes; but they have a plan they hope will turn the tide against Athens... Against this backdrop of renewed hostilities, Alexios and Thaletas are called upon to complete a mission for King Agis, which will test them and their relationship in ways they haven’t been tested before...
In the Heart of Things Summary: 412BCE. Reunited after a difficult year, Alexios and Thaletas have been sent to Chios by King Agis to keep an eye on the situation there as the theatre of the Peloponnesian War shifts eastwards, into the islands. There, they will discover more than they could have bargained for about themselves and their people, and what it is that lies at the heart of things...
A Few Olives Summary: Alexios decided to buy a farm. Thaletas went along with it. But the plan was not what he had expected, but then nothing ever had been with Alexios. This is the story of a relationship that has grown up in difficult times, and peace is now the hardest thing to deal with. Thaletas struggles to know himself, and Alexios doesn’t understand. Sometimes things must break before they can be reformed.
The Fire and the Flood Series:
aka. The Alexithenes This series is rated E. An Athenian Summer Summary: Early in the War, Alexios allows Socrates to lure him to Athens for the summer. During his stay in the city, his relationship with Demosthenes, not yet a general of Athens, will change significantly... But as the war rages on, will the pressures of the messy world beyond Athens' walls bring the pair together or drive them apart? This story takes liberties with canon; as much as possible, I try to keep characters true to their game-selves; original characters are mostly secondary characters, though of necessity I have provided Demosthenes with more character than he had in the game. Alexios is not immortal; his father is Nikolaos.
The Blue Cloak Alexios and Timotheos are flirting with the idea of being an item when, in order to help the brothers move past the events in canon, Alexios comes up with a plan to further Lykinos' dream of being a poet in Athens. Things take an unexpected turn when Alexios finds himself waking up aboard the Adrestia wearing a cloak he has never seen before.... aka. drunk Alexios gets himself into a situation. This is the edited version of a story previously published as So it is With Us. This version has an additional chapter added at the end and has been rewritten in parts, particularly the first half.
Short and Experimental Pieces
aka. The Deimos fic Shadow-Twin He felt like neither Deimos nor Alexios. They were two skins he’d shed - and what remained now? What new skin might he grow? Who might he become? They’d all demanded answers of him at one time or another. They’d all asked where he’d been when he went out, what he’d been doing. With concern or with curiosity or what they perhaps thought of as friendship. What they meant was: Let me in. Tell me who are you. He gave always the same reply: a grunt. How could he answer that when he didn’t know?
From the Darkness, Light: Brasidas & Deimos!Kassandra Having failed to keep his involvement in the assassination of the Monger in Korinth under wraps, Brasidas is sent by the Kings to Paros on a 'special mission' which he suspects is a punishment. His task is to find a missing lokhagos, but what he uncovers is far bigger and darker than the abduction of one man.
aka the Herodietas (Thaletas x Herodianos) Rising to the Surface: Rated E for the first two parts. After the events during the Mykonos arc of the story, Thaletas is left behind to face the consequences of Alexios' actions. Herodianos, who has been his loyal friend for a long time, does everything he can to comfort him - and so the hands of the Fates are set to work. This was an exercise in writing - Smut, Fluff and Angst, a chapter for each, in that order. Features the power of puppies to dispel the pain of existence.
It Was Just Red "Nothing ever ends poetically. It ends and we turn it into poetry. All that blood was never once beautiful. It was just red." Kait Rakowski This story was prompted by a post I saw recently on Tumblr. It showed Kass sitting at the empty table back in Sparta during the final dinner scene, against which the poster had written something along the lines of: this is the best possible ending – the least amount of Spartans left alive. The following work is an exercise in exploring what that outcome might look like, and seeks to detail some sense of the possible shifting feelings Alexios might have around losing his whole family, mostly at his own hands (a version of the game I’ve never played and frankly never will) and to explore the main question this post prompted in me: Is there a way in which I might believe this could be the best outcome? Fair warning: This work doesn’t honour the game timeline, and as always, I'm disinterested in strict compliance with canon. It’s canon divergent from the get-go simply because it’s Alexios, anyway.
Odyssey Drabble Summary: This is a collection of odds and ends I wrote alongside longer pieces, mainly in response to prompt lists. So far, these consist of: Four based on the tarot: Alexios as a teenager throwing himself into the sea to Anais' horror (an early version of a piece included in It Was Only Red); Brasidas finding himself in the Underworld (a tiny fix-it fic); a tentative beginning to a Daphnae fic I've always contemplated writing; a scene with Demosthenes and Alexios which fits nowhere else; two snippets of modern day AU with an Alexidas focus; and a random Brasidas x reader which I have never written before and quite likely won't again. I will be adding to this collection in time, as I continue working through a significant amount of files that I had forgotten existed (and maybe a few little new things).

Battles of Philippi: Preparations
The battle would involve the largest number of troops in Roman warfare up to that point. 19 legions of 110,000 men on the Triumvirate side faced 17 Republican legions of 90,000 men. The Triumvirs had a force of 13,000 cavalry and one extra legion stationed at nearby Amphipolis whilst the Republicans had two legions guarding the fleet and a cavalry force of 17,000 on the plain. The Republican army was then, not only smaller but it also consisted of a much more varied mix of troops taken from across the empire. On top of that, many of the veterans and all-important centurions had fought many times for Julius Caesar, and so to now face his heir and best general must have severely tested the troops' resolve and loyalty.
Tumblr media
In the field Cassius took advantage of two mounds located above the plain of Philippi to make two fortified camps for his nine legions. Brutus and his eight legions camped at the foot of the mountains and a palisaded corridor was built to connect the two Republican armies. Both camps received additional protection from the Gangites River. The two camps were a significant 2.7 km apart though, which meant the two armies could not easily offer mutual support. Antony, therefore, concentrated on Cassius' camp and, with typical bravado, established his army of ten legions in a well-fortified camp a mere 1.5 km from the enemy. Ten days later, Octavian's army of nine legions arrived. Nevertheless, the Republicans had all the advantages of a better supply line and an elevated position so that time was on their side. The Triumvirs would have to take the initiative.

HELLO FRIENDS I BRING YOU A KASSIDAS FIX-IT FIC ✨️
Chapters: 1/1
Words: 8,114
Fandom: Assassin's Creed - All Media Types
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Brasidas (d. 422 BCE)/Kassandra (Assassin's Creed)
Characters: Kassandra (Assassin's Creed), Brasidas (d. 422 BCE)
Additional Tags: Fix-It, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Pining, Mutual Pining, Falling In Love, Love Confessions, Brasidas (d. 422 BCE) Lives
Summary: In which a heavily wounded Brasidas never entered the battle of Amphipolis, and instead had the time and space to realise his growing feelings for the woman he's sure would never want to slow down
A fix-it fic, both in that we were unable to romance Brasidas in game, and that we had to say goodbye to such a beautifully portrayed and well-loved character
*
*
*
I hope you all enjoy 🥺 I started writing this in late July, got about 60% of the way through it, lost my attention for two months, then finished the rest of it tonight
I really love how it turned out though, this fic is so tender and sweet and full of yearning. A little sad, and then a whole lot of warmth
I'd also definitely recommend listening to the songs and artists I mention in the end note, they add a lovely extra layer of emotion to the story 💕

for ship of choice: 5, 26, 47?
I got three Odyssey ships so I’m going to do one for each of these:
5. Describe their cozy night in - Kassandra x Daphnae:
So it’s less a cozy night in and more a cozy night out. I headcanon that Daphnae’s mom was also a Daughter of Artemis, so they both have fond memories of learning to huntwith their mothers when they were young, even if Kassandra’s are a little bittersweet bc of Taygetos. Their hunting trips end up being one of the main ways they find peace, an escape from everything but each other, as they both feel at home in nature. Free and unburdened in a way they normally don’t get to be, with Daphnae’s responsibilities as the leader of the Daughters of Artemis and Kassandra’s quest to destroy the Cult. And they like to joke that they are only cuddling for warmth at night.
For Daphnae though, there’s something bittersweet about their hunting trips, as she knows their love will only end in tragedy. Each moment with Kassandra is precious to her, and she lives each one as if it is her last. But she feels a strange sense of acceptance in her looming death too, because she truly believes she is doing the right thing for her goddess and order by making way for Kassandra to lead the Daughters of Artemis.
Adding a little headcanon of mine here, Daphnae never even considers the possibility that Kassandra won’t fight her. With her devotion to Artemis, she believes that leading the Daughters of Artemis is a sacred duty, a call that Kassandra simple can’t and won’t ignore. And knowing Kassandra’s skill in battle, she doesn’t once think that there is a scenario where their battle ends in her victory.
26. What are their vices? - Kassandra x Brasidas:
If I’m being totally honest, I’m not totally sure how vices work in a relationship so I might be doing this wrong but here it goes!
Both Kassandra and Brasidas are very proud people. As we all know, Brasidas is a brilliant warrior, spy, and general, and he knows it too. And while he has every right to be proud of his skill and accomplishments, there are times where he struggles to see his mistakes or errors in judgment. For example, even when the evidence points towards Lagos’ involvement with the Cult, it takes him some time to believe it because it doesn’t fit with the picture of Lagos he already had. Example two, he attacks Deimos at Amphipolis. . .
Kassandra’s pride manifests itself a little differently. While she might not start out her odyssey this way, after destroying a cult and fighting mythical beasts and monsters, she slowly begins to lose touch with her own mortality, even before she becomes the Keeper. Like after beating the Minotaur and some of the other Isu monsters, she almost believes she’s unkillable. Unbeatable. And while this mostly results in her being almost obnoxious with her own confidence, it also makes her blame herself for tragedies she feels like she could have prevented. That’s why Brasidas’ death hits her so hard, beyond her love for him, because what’s the point of all her power if she can’t protect those she loves.
As for a vice that affects both of them, Kassandra can be pretty greedy and hedonistic and possessive. She likes money and wine and sex and doesn’t necessarily like the idea of moderation after growing up so poor on Kephallonia. And Brasidas happily lets her drag him along for the ride her despite his Spartan upbringing, resulting in lots of drunken nights and even more sleepless nights 👀
47. Does either of them have a secret that could potentially ruin their relationship? - Kassandra x Alkibiades:
Alkibiades is afraid to tell Kassandra that he knew about the plague of Athens when they met in Korinth, because he knows that she wouldn’t have let Phoibe go back to Athens and then Phoibe wouldn’t have died. It’s not exactly a relationship ruiner, and he knows it, but as much because of his own guilt as not wanting to add another “if only I had done this” to Kassandra’s own guilt about Phoibe’s death.
As for Kassandra’s secret, it’s not really a secret, because in my mind she tells Alkibiades that her brother was the one to kill Perikles. But I think that if she kept that a secret and he learned about it from anyone else, it would destroy their relationship, because they have a strange sense of trust in the other. Each recognizes that the other can be just as loose with their morals and allegiances as they are, but they also trust the other to (at least eventually) be honest with them. Kassandra keeping the truth from Alkibiades that her brother killed his uncle and she let him live, bc I don’t care what canon says Alexios didn’t deserve to die, would be an unforgivable offense in that case.
Sorry for the late response - busy day yesterday and then these were harder to think of than I thought! Ask me more here!

question!! so, since i killed the monger publicly brasidas was upset with me and was pretty standoffish before the battle of amphipolis (which broke my fucking heart). will that affect the dialogue with him in the underworld dlc? because i’ve seen some of the lines and if i don’t get to hear kassandra say to him “you were a friend like no other” i will be VERY sad 😅

what's this aco himym fic huh!!
kate i don't know how much you know about ac odyssey from whatever the hell i or anyone else you follow has posted about the game in the last however long it's been since it came out, so i am very very sorry if none of this makes any goddamn sense.
OKAY FIRST OF ALL i need to say that i have literally never in my life watched a single episode of himym and i do not intend to and i know nothing about it except i'm aware that people have Opinions on how it ended. it has barely fuckall to do with this fic, except that i just cannot think of a fitting title.
the short summary is that this is a kassidas fic where for some reason (have yet to figure this out) brasidas ends up with custody of elpidios and tells him all about how he and kassandra met, how their relationship developed, and how they came to be where they are now (hence the filename).
the long summary is i got WAYYYYY too ambitious with this fic and it mutated from being like a cutesy little wish-fulfillment love story to a full-blown fix-it fic where i want to address most if not all of my most vexing plotholes in ac odyssey, ranging from plot points that make no sense, to character interactions or lack thereof that had zero closure, to a complete rewrite of the very bad no good comphet dlc. and although i hated how the game handled the forced romance between kassandra and natakas, i do think there is/want to see if i can find a way to make their relationship more complex and messy and interesting by removing the romance of it but just making him a more fleshed-out character. part of my worry is that the dlc is so reviled (with good reason) across the fandom that this premise is dead on arrival anyway and no one will like it, not even myself. but at the same time, i still want the endgame of this fic to be kassidas-focused, because they are my everything and to me there is no ac odyssey without them*, and so i have to figure out a way to write some kind of weird love/parental triangle between the three of them even though i fucking hate triangles**
i waver back and forth between the himym-ness of it being due to the fact that for whatever reason kassandra is no longer in elpidios' life (thus bringing it closer to official game canon), or just waving a gigantic middle finger to ubisoft and letting kassandra actually be a mother to her son whom she loves so so much and barely got to spend any time with, but she's understandably pretty tight-lipped about her past because she's aware of the heaps and heaps of generational trauma that's plagued her family and wants to break that cycle, so it's up to brasidas to spill the tea.
another layer of complexity/difficulty in writing all of this is that i imagine elpidios to be around 7 when the story starts, because that's the same age kass was when she lost her family, so then that age becomes sort of symbolic as a milestone. which means there's also the issue of not a whole lot of ac odyssey being appropriate for a kid of that age. like, graphic violence and dark themes aside... i can't really have it be like "yeah and after decapitating korinth's biggest meanest crime lord your mother flipped me over and pegged me six ways to [whatever the ancient greek equivalent of sunday is]" and just... yeah. i don't know. i still think about what i want to do with this fic often, but i think there's a very good reason why i have barely even opened it in almost 2 years.
*this made me giggle as i typed it out bc actual historical spartan general brasidas has like 15 minutes total of screentime in a 100+ hour game. but it's also not a joke because despite all that (and also getting fucking killed at the battle of amphipolis) he still had more chemistry with kassandra than any of the other like 15 actually-romanceable characters in the game.
**another tongue-in-cheek joke/double entendre because it's revealed in the game that pythagoras who did all that triangle math equation stuff is kassandra's biological father and an absentee, deadbeat one at that. fuck that guy fr

watching playthrough of Amphipolis and Brasidas’ death for.... research....reasons....and whoever played this had Alexios and Brasidas at odds with each other. Arguing about loyalty before the battle. I cannot see this as them not just fighting about loyalty to Sparta, but some slight between each other. I want to shove them in a room and give them the time to talk things out.

Hi! I'm staring at your list of WIP titles and it's very hard to choose which to ask about. I'm going to ask ACO 5 Pephka because no one every gives Pephka any love.
I'm having a hard time with this one, because I really love it, but it's very abstract. Getting the concept nailed down without just spelling it out is still eluding me. Bear with me here...
Back in the Monger's warehouse in Korinth, there's an atmosphere to that fight, right? All the fire... this drama and cohesion and fluidity. It's a bloody artistry, almost. I always felt a teeny tiny touch of that in conquest battles too - the fluidity and drama - but the Arena has allll those elements. Even the fire. And the traps almost feel like a battle-partner at times. There's a showmanship to it too; they don't just need a killer, they want an artist - someone to stir the crowd.
----------
In my larger ACO narrative, Amphipolis is the straw that breaks the camel's back. Kassandra recedes from the world afterward. She disconnects from the people she loves (too often killed by proximity) and resolves not to go home to the land of Brasidas' shade and Myrinne's dreams. Instead of reckoning with all the things she lost on that battlefield, she detaches completely and channels her dissociated-self into obliterating the cult.
When she starts fighting in the Arena, climbing the rungs to Belos, she feels that nudge of nostalgia. There are moments, when she's lost in it, where she can almost feel him there just outside her field of vision - the memory of the way they felt together, without all the grief and guilt associated with him now. She ends up staying a lot longer than intended, chasing that sensation, and it's the first small step in opening her up again and beginning to heal.
There's not enough text I like to post for that one, so I'll drop another sneaky WIP I found hiding at the end of it that I forgot to add to the list.
Below the cut: a Myrinne / Nikolas drabble that will make a lot more sense if you've read Euboea :)
----------
“Don’t think the irony is lost on me,” she called sharply across the distance.
He turned back, searching her eyes in silence. There was a softness and a warmth to them that almost masked the steely formidability that dwelled beneath, the cunning force of will that she was, razing kings with the sweet scent of irises in her wake. And now, beneath even that, a fierce desperation that only her children could draw.
There was a coldness to her posture, burying the many years of warmth and tenderness that had passed between them, still echoing distantly in the cavern of his chest when he looked at her, and remembered everything she was, everything he’d cherished so deeply and wasted.
“The irony of depending on you to keep her safe…” she jabbed, “I would do anything for her, Nikolaos… Please… send her home…”
His eyes lingered on her for a second longer, his expression impassable, before he tilted his head in assurance and turned away, slipping away toward the north edge of the city and out into the wilds of Lakonia.

WIP List is here for anyone interested :)

Battlefield Artemis, Protector of Warriors
Tumblr media
Artemis from DanMachi: Astraea Record volume 3. Written by Omori Fujino and illustrated by Kakage.
“Hunting and the chase are the recreation of Apollo and Artemis, but they are also connected with the goddess [Athena]. For one thing because they are a part of the art of war…”
-Aristides Or. 14:6 (Tr. C.A. Behr; excerpt from Mary Galvin’s BIOΣ APTEMIΣ, p.169)
Artemis’ role in times of war and how she’s favored by soldiers are overlooked in favor the typical “war gods”, like Ares, Athena, and Mithras. While she was not called a “Goddess of War”, Artemis had a prominent role in war.
According to Mary Galvin, Artemis role in war is due to her connection to the life of society. Artemis prepares society for war and from the quote above indicates that there’s an overlap with the hunt and war.
Appeals were made to Artemis prior to war, especially when an enemy threatened the populace.
Historically people greatly believed that Artemis will protect them in times of crisis. The Ephesians had great faith that Artemis protected them danger, such as the legendary conquest of Croesus, who later built the first Artemision.
During the time the Persians controlled Ionia, they left the city of Ephesus and the Artemision mostly intact, despite destroying other cities and their sanctuaries and temples. The Syracusans, after a civil conflict try to keep the peace and decided to took steps to avoid further conflicts and keep a harmonious relationship with Artemis.
Artemis kept women safe from war. The women of Amphipolis gathered in the temple of Artemis Tauropolos and plead to Artemis for her help when their city was under threat.
Artemis also kept soldiers safe when they rest under her watchful eyes near her sanctuaries. Afterall Artemis’ sacred spaces were usually sites of asylum at least from the Archaic age to the late Roman period.
There’s a pre-war sacrifice ritual of pre-battle sacrifices to Artemis, usually with an animal sacrifice. Artemis occasionally give pre-battle epiphanies, she gave them signs or directly appeared to them herself. After a successful battle, the army and/or the society will give thanksgiving to Artemis and sometimes Artemis alongside other gods, typically Athena and/or Apollo, if they’re involved.
Examples of appeals before war and battle:
Antigone called upon Artemis prior to Parthenopaeus’ attack.
Agamemnon dedicated a sanctuary to Artemis at Megara in hopes to have Kalchas to join him in the Trojan war.
The Delphians appealed for help against a barbarian attack.
Before the battle of Marathon, the Athenians appealed to Artemis by promising to sacrifice a goat for each Persian killed.
Post-battle thanksgivings include:
Athens sacrificed numerous goats for their victory at Marathon against the Persians (though not 1:1).
Ephesus frequently honored Artemis each time they’re saved when they're in a pinch.
Alexander the average I mean Great honored Artemis with a sacrificed at Ephesus.
Xerxes the Great honored Artemis Ephesia, on his way back home after unsuccessful campaign in Greece.
Tissaphernes honored Artemis with a sacrificed at Ephesus.
Agesilaos honored Artemis with a sacrificed at Aulis.
The Spartans regularly sacrificed a goat in her honor.
Various memorials were erected around and inside Artemis’ sanctuaries to memorialized and thanking Artemis for her help in their time of need.
Athenians victory over Medes at Salamis memorialized in the temple of Artemis Proseoa.
Theseus’s at Troizen for his victory against the minotaur and his safe passage out of the labyrinth.
Preservation of land of the Cirrhaeans and Cragalidae.
At Euboea is Agamemnon stone ship with his thanksgiving for the passage to Troy.
Themistocles dedicated a shrine as thanks for his victory at Salamis.
Numerous thanksgiving inscriptions from Ephesus, Caria, Skythia, and throughout the ancient word from both Greek and non-Greek people.
Festivals and celebrations were made in Artemis’ honor.
Phokians initiated the Festival of the Elaphabolia at Hyampolis for their success against the Thessalians.
Athens observed on Mounychion 16th a holiday to Artemis in thanks for their success at Salamis.
Delphians initiated a festival for the thanking Apollo, Artemis, and Athena for their epiphanies during the battle against the barbarians and for their aid.
Another way that people thanked Artemis is the dedication of gifts at her sanctuaries and temples.
Garlands by Agesilaos and his soldiers.
Artemis Ephesia was given a tithe from the spoils of war by the Greeks.
Images of war heroes were dedicated to Artemis, such as an image of Adrastus the Lydian was given to Artemis Anaitis, and Artemis Ephesia was given images of various war heroes, including Lysander and prominent Spartans.
Aetolians gave images of Artemis to Delphi after their war with people from Gaul.
Artemis also participated in peace treaties as well. One time in Rome, there was an agreement that was publicly posted in Artemis/Diana’s sanctuary. Governments and political bodies frequently ask for Artemis’ permission to ratify treaties and/or seek her recognition of the treaty.
Overall Artemis was appealed for her help during critical moments before and during battle and her protection from her sanctuaries to the battlefield. Armies called for her help via pre-battle sacrifices and after the conflict, they gave Artemis thanksgiving sacrifices and/or dedications. Before Mithras, Diana was the favorite god for Roman soldiers to pray to.

(about one of the prev reblogs)
i realized last night my laïs timeline had an error but I'm ignoring it cuz i was following the actual historical dates instead of the in game mess (ok, its not a mess, it's so the narrative makes sense)
i already ignored some historical divergences but i need the time gap between kass and the squad bullying kleon and the battle of amphipolis,,,
i could make it smaller 🤔 but then i wouldn't be following history or in game canon,,,

what can you tell us about indigo sky and a fixed point? have they changed since you first started them + if so what had impacted the changes made? also i may not know anything about AC but sweet new url!!! ❤️❤️❤️
(hell site ate my first attempt at this post. let's try this again. i hate it here.)
HI JO THANK YOUUU!!! 💖💖💖
indigo sky is a little early game one-shot featuring eivor and hytham bonding over shared experiences (dead parents, complicated relationships with their adoptive father figures, feeling untethered after life-changing events, etc.) and realizing how much they actually relate to one another after having not liked each other very much at first.
this is probably also the next thing i'll post, my brain willing. 🥲 it hasn't really changed at all since i started writing it, but i'm now thinking i might have an idea for a second part/chapter that i may or may not add.
“How does it feel?” Hytham asks. “To have your revenge?” Eivor is silent. When Hytham glances at her, she is looking straight ahead to where the fjord opens up to meet the sea, but her gaze is unseeing. Her lips are parted in thought and when she finally speaks again, she does so slowly, as if picking her words carefully. “I have spent more than half of my life hunting the man who murdered my parents. My parents, who I have now been without for far longer than I ever had them in the first place. Kjotve has haunted my dreams so often that I remember his face with more clarity than those of my own flesh and blood. I thought killing him would be a relief, would bring me some semblance of peace, but… but now I only feel aimless. Set adrift without a purpose.”
a fixed point is an odyssey fic in which kassandra begins having prophetic dreams about brasidas's death at amphipolis (one of seven spartans who died there? come the fuck onnnnnnn) and does her very best to stop it.
this originally was meant to be a sort of time loop situation but then i realized that 1) i have no idea how to resolve that version of this fic and 2) kassandra having prophetic visions that nobody listens to is an irony that is not lost on me, and certainly wouldn't be lost on kassandra. her entire existence is a greek tragedy and it makes me SICK!!!!!
She feels water droplets dust her cheeks, her mouth. She wonders how, even in the heat of battle, she could have missed the approach of rain clouds. But the sky is clear, save for the smoke from the little fires that burn all around them, and when the liquid meets her tongue it tastes of salt. Brasidas is hovering over her, so so close, and haloed by the sun, always bright. Anyone who has ever compared her to a goddess has clearly never seen Brasidas under the afternoon sun. She realizes, distantly, that he is cradling her, but she can feel nothing. His lips move and she recognizes the voice she hears to be his, repeating her name. Kassandra. Kassandra. A prayer. A plea.
send me a title from my wip list and i'll post a snippet or tell you something about it!
