HEARTSLABYUL

Riddle Rosehearts seems like perfection; like the very image of what one should strive for. Anyone who knows him can admire his hard work and diligence, because that is the extent to what they can see. But you see his delight at the simplest of things; things that he never got to experience in childhood. Riddle holds you dear to him because you encourage his rare moments of whimsy, and love them wholly- just as he loves you.

Trey Clover is always being told that he should aim higher, because the talent he holds would be squandered should he go down the path of the simple village baker. He smiles and politely tells them that he’ll consider it- but really, he’s tired of the input he never wanted in the first place. It’s all the more reason to appreciate the way you trust in his dreams. Trey knows what he wants, and you won’t push him for anything more.

Cater Diamond has two different sides, like the faces on a card. Sometimes he’s the party-loving Cay-kun, and other times he wants nothing more than to collapse in his bed and sleep the day away. Being Cay-kun is exhausting. It’s not entirely him but he can’t seem to bring himself to show the real Cater to anyone but you, because you understand that the mask is necessary sometimes. It’s okay if he’s not ready to show the world his face yet. You’ll be waiting for him when he is.

Bluntly honest is the best way to describe Ace Trappola. If someone asked, he’d call himself a realist. He’s not here to mess around or play the hero. And sometimes that can hurt people’s feelings and push them away. But being truthful and being mean are two different things, and he knows he can always trust you to tell him when he oversteps. Ace may fumble from time to time, so he’s glad you’re always there to help him back up.

Deuce Spade was reluctant to begin dating you at first. He wasn’t proud of who he was in middle school, nor is he proud of who he is at the moment. He thought that he was unworthy of you, that he needed more time to grow. When he first figured out that you weren’t the most perfect person either, it didn’t turn him away. In fact, it relieved him. Deuce loves that you can be imperfect together- and that you’re willing to grow alongside him even more.

SAVANACLAW

Leona Kingscholar is used to being the spare; the disposable one. Even though he’s the second prince of the Sunset Savannah, even though he was born into a life of privilege, he knows what it’s like to have to fight for yourself and your place in the world. When he met you, he could hardly believe that for once, a fight wasn’t necessary. It took a while for him to trust, but now Leona knows that he will always be your first choice, as you will be his.

From the outside, Ruggie Bucchi’s obsession over food is a bit excessive. Does one really need to defend every scrap with his life? He’s tired of others laughing at the way he packs snacks in his bag and sneaks crumbs off the tabletop. It’s telling that you hand him extras when you don’t have to, that you make sure he always has more than he needs. It shows that you value the things he values, so that he can do the same in return to you.

Jack Howl is a lone wolf, just like his name. He’s always relied on his own strength to get by. Owing a debt is like putting his life in someone else’s hands, so accepting favors is something that he’ll never do. When he first realizes he loves you, it’s hard to accept that another person now holds a part of his heart. But give him some time and he’ll begin to appreciate having someone to share the burden with. It’s refreshing to have company without debt or guilt.

OCTAVINELLE

They say those who have suffered the most have the most empathy. Azul Ashengrotto thinks there must be something wrong with him, then. After all the ridicule he’s endured, all he wants is to watch his tormentors cry as well. So why does his heart beat so fast then, when he sees how kind you are to others? There’s so little logic to it- but the heart wants what it wants.

Jade Leech gives only as much as he takes. In his mismatched eyes, it’s only reasonable that a transaction is balanced on both sides. So it’s a surprise to him when you don’t demand everything to be split, fifty-fifty. It’s with you that he learns the connection between trust and equals. Not having to count out every exchange leaves Jade more time to love you with all his heart.

Floyd Leech is notorious for his mercurial behavior. It’s a laughing matter for some students, and the target of frustration for many others when he fails to show the same enthusiasm he had before. If he’s already in a bad mood, then why are they making it worse by nagging him? You’re his retreat in times like that, because you take his emotions seriously, no matter how ridiculous they seem in the moment.

SCARABIA

Kalim Al-Asim knows he can be dense. As the heir to a merchant empire, he’s got some level of self-awareness in him, even if he doesn’t always know how to use it. He can tell when he’s said the wrong thing to you. The wringing of hands, the twisting of brows make him so nervous, but he can’t do anything but laugh it off lest he say something to make it worse. So he appreciates it when you patiently explain to him how you feel, even when you’re not in the mood to. Sometimes he just needs help to understand.

There’s no doubt that Jamil Viper has… questionable methods of obtaining his means to an end. With the precision and patience of a snake, he can use any means necessary to strike. But when you’re around he finds himself thinking more of what’s right than just what he wants. You are his conscience, in the best and worst of times; and he can’t help but love you for it.

POMEFIORE

Vil Schoenheit’s entire life has been publicized since the day he stepped into the spotlight. While he takes pride in his looks and envies anyone who can shine brighter than him, he finds that when he is with you, he can be whatever he wants to be with no eyes on him. No cameras, no rehearsals, no pressure, just two hearts beating side by side.

Rook Hunt has a lot to say, and so little time to say it. He is always on the move, always examining something else to find the beauty in it. And though it’s hard to be patient, he loves you for always listening when he talks, even when he rambles for hours about the smallest things. To sit still for that long is a feat in itself.

The frustrations of Epel Felmier are evident when others treat him as lesser simply because of the way he looks. He’s still learning how to use his charm in other ways, but it’s hard to unlearn so many old habits. Punishments from Vil don’t help either. So when the work gets too harsh, you make him forget about being weak or strong- and when you’re in front of him, all he wants to be is yours.

IGNIHYDE

Idia Shroud is used to watching the world go by without him. Sometimes he feels like an outside observer, or even a roadblock for others to climb over on their way to greatness. But with you, he never feels like an inconvenience. He feels wanted and needed- something he hasn’t felt for a long, long time.

DIASOMNIA

Malleus Draconia is lonely. It’s plain and simple as that. He wants the company of others, outside of those assigned to guard him and bow to his every whim. So Malleus covets the fact that you are simply here, by his side of your own volition. For the first time in his life, Malleus thinks that he might be content.

Lilia Vanrouge has lived through centuries. As a human, you cannot even begin to fathom bridging the gap in time. There is just so much that he has seen that he can’t share with you. So please, just let him hold you while he has the chance. Let him cherish the way you live in the moment. Together, you can forget the coming of the future.

Sebek Zigvolt is constantly under pressure. Not from others, but from himself- but either way, the stress gets to him. He would never admit it, but the stolen moments you spend together make him happier than he’s ever been. His shoulders ease, and his scowl disappears for a time. Just don’t point it out, or they’ll be back again full force- accompanied by a blush.

It’s not that Silver doesn’t care about what people are saying- he really, really does. But when he falls asleep so easily, some people come to think that he’s bored out of his mind. He was anxious that you’d think the same, but to his surprise, you understand his struggles. He’s trying his best to be more attentive to you, and you welcome his efforts with open arms.

hi. i posted my fankids earlier so now welcome to cereals caterella multiverse chart kjlfdsjklfjs click for better view but also my handwriting sucks and i made this in like 2022ish in the privacy of discord dms so ill do my BEST to retype all the words and explain under the cut as much as i can/remember LET'S GOOOO

god where to even start. hi. ummm ok so caterella, for general context, is something i'd see around occasionally in people's fanarts/theories/aus/etc of cater being in a cinderella role, i think inspired by him talking about how he has 2 older sisters that are kinda bossy.

over time i went into the madness. and i cannot commit to one idea so i just have Several and this was my attempt to "organize" lol. cater is the protagonist in all of them, and not everyone is a love interest, it all DEPENDS!

oh i also wrote in the bottom right corner: * they can all be in standard au [i think i meant like, canon compliant lol] but some are specifically here w/one specific story involved (????) (IDK LOL)

let's start with... [im gonna rewrite the text but also add bits for context lol]

"That Guy" Trey:

unassuming love interest

usually not actually a prince [some of these aus are actual royalty aus i guess lol]

"bake :) or bff" <- i think i was trying to say he's a baker and if he's not a love interest he might just be in there as cater's supportive bestie.

line to cater: either bff -> lovers or baker for a red herring prince surprise romance [??? girl help decoding my phrasing here is gonna be so hard]

underneath i wrote (or secret prince?) but i dont think i ever explored that possibility lol

i always have to explain why i keep calling trey "that guy" lol. it's cuz in the original jpn twst, during the scalding sands visit event, when cater was announcing he invited trey to come, the fan translation said cater was saying something like "and who's caykuns mystery guest? it's THAT GUY!" and then trey appeared or something lfdskf i dont remember exactly but i know he was called That Guy and so my friend and i were calling trey That Guy for sooooo long.

ok so i think what i was trying to say for the most part is that trey is a friends to lovers surprise love interest in scenarios where the main plot makes you THINK the love interest is a fancy prince, hence the "red herring prince" comments. i have a google doc that mentions this that ill copy/paste after i get through each person's general primer but for now let's move on!

i dont talk about it here but i also had an au based off a song i listen to [tir a nog i think?] where malleus is a fae prince from an enchanted forest and cater's sick of his everyday working life and wants to run off to a fanciful land, meets malleus, malleus wants cater to runaway with him back to his fanciful forest and BE HIS BETROTHED or whatever lol. i have a few doodles of it somewhere and i still think about it sometimes

the really long outer squiggle line is drawn between malleus and leona on the chart and just says GRRR lol, they have beef which we will GET TO LATER and i mean also canon beef lol. u already know that.

"Fairy Godmother" Lilia:

basically like regular lilia lol hes a bestie and a mentor and a wingman depending on the situation. i think in the cater going to the ball au in one instance he is more of a literal fairy godmother support, other aus he is more figurative lol like the supportive bestie!!

the banana thing is bc how in twst canon, grim calls savanaclaw "bananaclaw" once and after that my friend and i have forever called them the banana boys ksdlfjdls it has nothing to do w/the aus

anyway the line from cater to leona: forbidden crush on prince he doesn't actually know, leading to another route (usually trey)

other line: alt: DIVORCE(lol) <- i didnt elaborate here but i have to assume i was talking about the concept idea i wrote in THIS POST about cater/leona being bitter exes/having had a summer fling making things awkward in book 2....

i have since started liking leona/cater a little less ironically lately [tbh i dont think it was ever ironic i was just in denial lol] so um. id probably have mentioned it here if i made this chart later l o l

i started writing actual story during nanowrimo but dear god it's such a task. idk if i will ever post that or if ill just forever do random lore/doodle posts, and i if i did start posting it, it would be a very casual multichapter sandbox zone for me lol. very messy soap opera energy. we'll see.

anyway i dont remember how much i mention it in the post but char was also i think potentially there to be a rival for other characters. like oh nooo prettyboy from rsa is here to sweep cater off his feet, u better act fast!!!!! jldkfjklsdjfkldsjf i love being corny. anyway moving on,

anyway. i maybe mentioned it here once idr butttttt marshmallow eppa stuff. that's a lot of inside jokes my friend and i stacked over time

marshmallow: a few years ago i was drawing cater x various ships loosely for white day bc i didnt get a chance for valentines day or something? idia's thing was giving cater a marshmallow lol. so we have a lot of jokes about idia leaving anonymous marshmallows for cater and cater being like aw man i dont even like sweets. who is doing this to me kflsdfjsl

eppa. ummm. when i was trying to come up with char's name, one of the possibilities was eppa. but my friend came up w/the idea i think of idia having like a fake rsa prince persona that cater falls for, instead of char being a real guy [i split the aus instead lol] and that inspired me to write a little bit based on that idea. i explain it a bit and also posted the [unfinished] story chunks in THIS POST. it would eventually have a happy ending i just didnt intend to write the whole thing so it ends a bit awkwardly here LOL i only wrote a little bit

ok NOW i can talk about the other google docs. kdsjfkldsjkfl from 2 years ago.... ill copy paste exactly what i wrote [and only edit typos/autocorrects lol] and try to explain after if it's needed

[DOC START]

Something something cater wants to go to a party / ball / whatever held by Leona’s family or something. idk what type of universe this AU is exactly but shhh details whatever. It’s a fancy party with attractive people and cater wants magicam pics!!! Maybe also 2 find a prince to fill the lonely void in his heart lol, and Leona is the red herring prince that caters like “omg he’s dreamy maybe He’s The One”

Vil is there for some reason. Maybe he has an invitation as a celebrity guest and cater is begging him to let him in as a plus one? Vil says no and warns him not to try and get in bc guys like Leona suck anyway or something idk (blah blah leonavil divorce lol). Vil doesn’t even wanna go but he has to for his image , and tells cater it’s for his own good that he’s not taking him 🏃

So caters pouty , and I think this could have different alternate routes.

One route: he doesn’t find a way in but is curious anyway and finds himself going to the forest outside the venue and hears the jams and stuff, and he’s like “wow why am I so sad that I’d go skulk around the outside of a party I’m not even invited to” and he hears a Voice “you were not invited either, hmm?” And caters like AAAAAAA and it’s a mysterious tall horn man lol. Hornton tells cater that every year his invitation is claimed to have been “lost in the mail” but he’s pretty sure they just don’t send it bc he and the prince don’t get along. Cater is about to ask how this guy knows the prince , but then the distant music gets all slow and sweet and the mysterious man asks cater to dance with him there in the forest ✨

Something something idk where it goes after that but eventually cater learns that guy is Also A Prince lol, his dream of finding prince charming fulfilled. Maybe sometime between meeting malleus and before the conclusion, lilia is the ~fairy godmother~ role of mysteriously befriending cater and being messenger between the two (thinkin about the role he plays in giving yuu that holiday card lol, stuff like that)

Another route: cay cay is sulking and goes to hang out with his good buddy pal kalim, who is this route’s ~fairy godmother~ bc when cater is all 😔 about the party, kalims like “oh! I’ll take you :) I was invited too!” And he buys cater a fun and fancy outfit to wear.

But then ! Kalim learns that cater wants to go and meet prince Leona, and Kalim is 😬 bc Leona is. not the warmest guy in the world lol. But he doesn’t want to crush his friend’s dreams 🥺 so he has to think of a plan to get him off the Leona track!!! He goes to Jamil, who is like, idk his chef or whatever, bc Jamil knows Leona’s chefs too bc Kalim and Leona’s families know each other and go to each other’s events and hold joint events idk whatever blah blah lol

Anyway point is Jamil knows trey , I don’t know how that really helps anything tho LOL. I think Kalim is like “Jamil help me !! We gotta find other people for cater to talk to at the party so he doesn’t meet Leona and get his heart broken!!!” And jamils like “why does he wanna meet Leona. ew.” And kalims like idk bestie 😖

Anyway. They get to the party and Kalim is trying to introduce cater to every friend/acquaintance he has. Vil spawns a few times and is like cater 😒 I warned u not to come 😒 and caters like 😤 you’re not the boss of me vil!!!

Cater also gets kinda drained from the tons and tons of people he and Kalim are meeting and chatting with. Jamil is lurking and watching like 👀 🤔 and goes to cater and offers to let him come rest a moment in the kitchen staff room and hide from the bustle of the party. Cater is flustered that Jamil could see he was feeling tired lol, but agrees anyway.

They go and that’s where he meets TREY, who is there taking a break and idk just made tea that he offers Jamil and cater. They sit and chat a few minutes before Jamil makes a convenient excuse to leave the room and “check on something” aka just leave those 2 alone to bond lol.

Something something they bond really well and dance together in the kitchen break room or whatever idk lol, cater gives trey his number, so operation distract cater from Leona is a success yaaaaaaay

Maybe another secret route with vil, like surprise he’s trying to keep cater from Leona not only bc Leona Sucks but also bc he likes cater lol 🤫

Not related to caterella at all really but too bad close enough it goes in the doc.

Based off the Japanese version (🥲 eng twst whyyy lol) of that one story between cater and vil where cater says he thought about dating him / vil says dating him would be Expensive lol, au where caters like ok fine challenge accepted, cay cay finds a JOB and ends up… resorting to…. Getting a job at mostro lounge 🤧 to fund his date with vil one day lol. He probs bickers with the fish but also is maybe decent at it bc he’s a chatty boy so he’s like , a fun cute waiter people like having lol, and he’s used to having to work with riddle and the crazy queen rules so like, yeah I don’t think he’d LIKE the job but I think he’d survive, while also complaining to trey and riddle about it who are like “you willingly chose to do this” lol. Anyway plot twist vil was another red herring bc this was secretly a cater/Jade story all along WAHAHA. Idk just I think it’d be cute if they bonded over time working together lol. Coworker enemies to friends to lovers or whatever. Bonus points if Jade liked cater from the start but was just being a weird fish about it so cater was like “ah, psychological warfare, this one is my enemy”

sorry i kept dunking on leona so hard LOL i think it's funny when characters have beef with each other and i especially love the beef leona has with both malleus and vil in canon skldjfkldsjf. ok that last part with jade is just the stuff that got mentioned in the post i linked in the jade section lol. but the other bits i think were ambiguous not nrc au but i didnt really specify the worldbuilding bc i mean... i wasnt writing a fic i was just having so many ideas LOL

Cut to Kalim on the ground like omg I didn’t know cater and Leona were friends!! The second years are sitting in the grass doing stretches for some reason I guess lol. riddles like they’re not friends, wtf is he doing up there 😒

Kalim checks his phone and sees the pic cater posted , and looks back up where caters still hovering around Leona and smiling, and he’s like OMG do u guys think they’re dating!!!! Did Leona ask cater out with this bird??????

Jamil’s like 😒 wtf why would he do that

And kalims like idk what else would he catch a bird for cater for!!!!!

By the end of the day the rumor shot through the school

Ruggie tells Leona but Leona doesn’t care , rumors are rumors

Then the tabloids are like “second prince Leona might’ve finally found his life companion?!” And Leona still doesn’t care bc tabloids are dumb and they’ll move on eventually when they realize it’s not true

But then Leona’s brother calls and is like “Leona! You didn’t tell me you’d found someone special?? I had to find out through cheka showing me an article online!!! When are you gonna bring this cater boy to meet the family??” And Leona’s like wtf 😠 so he goes to heartslabyul like “hey 😤 wtf is this rumor” caters like I didn’t do it 😒 you literally watched me post the bird pic and that was it, I said NOTHING of romance 😤

Meanwhile lilia: oh my, you’d best find a bigger bird with shinier feathers before it’s too late

one point is that we used to joke about like, sitcom style rumors growing out of hand and SO fast. especially with the first years + kalim and silver, but i guess in this case it was the second years, with still kalim LOL jsdklfjds.

second i have many ships. i like bringing them up when theyre not relevant. i like lilia being an embarrassing dad and wingman for malleus. i guess malleus has a crush on cater in this scenario bc i have always LOVED cater/malleus lol.

of course i found a way to mention jamil/azul sjklfjdsljfdlsj i think my friend and i would also joke a lot about azul having a crush on jamil and being kinda jelly that floyd gets to hang w/him at basketball practice/floyd being a little bitch about that for fun KJFDSKLFJKDSLJF

bird proposals. it's absurd but i think these goofyass kids would believe anything if you said it convincingly enough. remember how for like 10 seconds ruggie and the other banana boys thought leona had literally turned into a tsumtsum. anything is possible.

My opinions/thoughts on the twisted wonderland characters-

Notes:

I’m up to chapter 6 and haven’t finished it yet I’ve also only played this game for like a month as it wasn’t available in my country until recently.

I’m only doing the students that actually attend Night Raven Collage because 1 the teachers have little screen time besides Crowely and the other characters from other school are not important or only have like 5 minutes screen time in the main story.

Heartslabyul

So many Kingdom Hearts memories also

Yea party central

Riddle Rosehearts:

-Angry Strawberry/Raspberry

-Short man syndrome

-Mummy Issues

-Even though he’s obviously based off of the Queen of Hearts I think he’s also somewhat got some of the White Rabbit’s habits like everything has to be on time and whatnot.

-I’d probably nickname him Rids just to see his reaction

Ace Trappola:

-Annoying but ok

-I saw something along the lines of the fact that he is based off of Alice as well as the obvious card soldiers and I can totally see that he is rebellious and doesn’t like the dumb silly rules of the queen’s.

-His nickname would probs be Acey cause he calls Deuce, Deucey

Deuce Spade:

-Made his mum cry so he changed his attitude and cleaned himself up

-Seeing as I can see other Alice in Wonderland characters as the Heartslabyul guys he’d probably be the Blue Caterpillar cause of his blueish hair and eyes also you could say he became a butterfly when he changed his ways

-Is dumb but sweet

-His nickname is already Deucey it’s cannon I can’t change that

Trey Clover:

-If he’s a character from Alice in wonderland he’s obviously the Mad Hatter cause he wears a hat and his hair is green and the Mad Hatter’s hat is green. That’s the only connection I’ve found though.

-Baker boy husband material probably the most laid back character in the game.

-His nickname would be Poundcake

Cater Diamond:

-If he’s also a character from Alice in wonderland he’s Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum cause of his signature spell and he’s a red head

-The fact that he doesn’t like sweet foods being part of the plot is unimportant or relevant but it’s some character development I guess

-Annoying but in a different way then Ace

-His nickname to me would just be Cay

Savanaclaw

Be prepared

Very a athletic dorm I definitely would not be in that dorm

Leona Kingscholar:

-You cannot pet the angy kitty

-He has the “ :3 “ face as his normal smug expression

-Lazy man hot though

-Has family issues

-Doesn’t like being second

-I would not give this man a nickname if I want to live.

That being said it’d be Sandbag or Log

Ruggie Bucchi:

-Roxas from Kingdom Hearts specifically the Roxas from the beginning of KH2

-Will eat any food along as it’s not rotten

-Is a hard worker as long as he gets something out of it

-His nickname would probs be Rugs or Rug

Jack Howl:

-Is a good boy

-Floyd’s nickname for him is spot on he looks tuff but under that he’s a soft boy

-Probably the most responsible and thoughtful character out of the cast besides Trey

-His nickname is Jackie/Jacky and I know it’s basic but I’m not that creative

Octavinelle

Under the sea, I wanna be part of that dorm~

Fish Mafia

Azul Ashengrotto:

-Shady Business man

-Was bullied as a child

-Is self-conscious about his body (can relate)

-His nickname or nicknames would be Az or Azzy

Jade Leech:

-Likes Mushrooms like A LOT

-Is the mum friend of the 3

-Will stab you with a gleam in his eyes and a smirk on his face

-His nickname would be Jay/Jae or something mushroom related like Toad or Fungi or my favourite Truffle/Truffles

Floyd Leech:

-My fav character

-Could and Will snap you in half if was angry

-Moodswings

-All of his nicknames are somewhat accurate so far as I can tell, I don’t get Malleus’s nickname though

-My nicknames for him are Floydie or Floy

Scarabia

Scarabian nights~~~

Like sand through the hourglass so is the dorm of Scarabia

Kalim Al-Asim:

-Sweet dumb rich boy

-His nickname would be Kali or no nickname

Jamil Viper:

-Stressed as hell needs a break

-Was told his whole life to basically not succeed in anything if Kalim was involved

-His nickname would be Jam or Jami

Pomefiore

Have a bite taste the apple

Their dorm uniform annoys me I don’t know why though

Vil Schoenheit:

-He calls everyone Potatoes/Spudlings like it’s an insult like has he ever had a potato? Also probs a reference to the fact that he’s probably supposed to be German or something along those lines

-I like him as a character better now then when I first started his chapter

-I’d nickname him something simple like Vivi or Vili or I’d follow along with the fact he calls everyone potatoes and call him Potato Gem also known as (Tater Tots for you Americans) or Hashbrown

Rook Hunt:

-Everything I do the gatcha he shows up and it’s mostly the same 3 cards

-He creeps me out but is slowly growing on me

-I have no nickname for him besides Stalker

Epel Felmier:

-Cute but don’t tell me I said that

-Could probably beat you up and you’d be confused as to how

-His nickname would be Epps or Macho man

Ignihyde

They won’t go the distance they will say inside their room where they feel like they belong

I hate their dorm uniforms

Idia Shroud:

-He may be based off of Hades and it makes sense he’s in a role/job he doesn’t want and can’t really get out of it buuut he’s basically Panic as well as Hades

-Can relate to him not liking people and socialising and whatnot

-Plays games and watches Anime and reads manga is a web/Otaku and Gamer Boy

-Would be a YouTuber/Streamer if he wasn’t so nervous

-My nicknames for him would be Ids or the most basic Gamerboy

Ortho Shroud:

-If Idia is Panic then he’s probably Pain

-He’s cute but creepy cause he’s a robot and want not

-My nicknames for him would be Orthie or Astro boy

Diasomnia

Once upon a dream

Ha their name sounds like insomnia which I have

Love their dorm uniforms

Also they all basically wear Sora’s necklace from Kingdom Hearts

Malleus Draconica:

-Fairy Dragon Prince

-LOVES gargoyles

-He does not like technology

-Invite him places he’ll love it

-Even though he has a cannon nickname “Horton” he obviously needs another nickname or two like Mal or Ruins Explorer

Lilia Vanrouge:

-Vampire basically

-Draculaura but male

-Old man/father going back to school basically like the movie 17 Again

-Can’t cook, don’t let him in the kitchen

-Greetings fellow kids

-I’d probs just call him Lil or Lilz

Silver Vanrourge:

-Riku from Kingdom Hearts but also Ventus

-Sleepy boy

-Nicknames for him would be Sil or Charming

Sebek Zigvolt:

-Angy loud boy

-Loves his prince

-Is a half-ling

-His nicknames would be Seb, Sebby or Bek

Ramshackle

Literally a building falling apart

Grim

-When I first started playing I said I’d be ok if he got hit by a bus, and now I still do though now I’d be a little sad

-His nicknames are Menace, Trouble Maker and Little shit

Cater gives you a playful shove, brushing his shoulder against yours. He offers you a teasing grin, before pulling out his phone, and snapping a picture of your surprised face.

“Cater! I thought I told you to stop doing that!!!” You say, embarrassment lacing your tone.

His gaze turns apologetic, and he offers you a bashful smile.

“Sorry, ___! I won’t do it again, I promise. Your reaction was just to~o cute, ya know~?”

Cater says, and you huff, shaking your head.

“Flattery will get you nowhere.”

You say, crossing your arms, though a smile tugs at your face.

Cater raises his hands placatingly, before speaking.

❝ In my defense, I’ve loved you from day one… ❞

His eyes widen, and his hand flies to his mouth, as he realises what he’d just said.

You stare at him for a moment, before giggling.

“And here I thought you were cheeky~! You should be calling yourself cute instead, Cay! That was adorable!!! Pfft!” You say, between giggles.

Cater looks at you with pink tinged cheeks.

“You don’t…You don’t mind?” He asks, his voice sounding unsure.

You stare at him, before grinning playfully, and lightly punching his shoulder.

“No dip, Sherlock! I’ve liked you for a while now. You saved me a lot of trouble with that impromptu confession.”

Cater’s gaze lights up, and he reaches for his phone, before taking pause, and turning to you.

You grin, “I think a picture is acceptable for this occasion. Hashtag just started dating, right?”

Cater returns your smile, bringing the phone up and snapping a selfie of the two of you, before pressing his lips against your cheek.

❝ Let’s make a bunch of other memories too, hm~? ❞

♣️ Trey ♣️

You and Trey headed to the kitchen to bake.

Surprisingly, there was no real occasion this time. You’d just been in the mood, and Trey had offered to accompany you, which you had gladly accepted.

It was common knowledge that Trey was a phenomenal baker, and if he was there helping you bake sweets, they’d turn out twice as good.

Not to mention, Trey’s personality was as sweet as the treats he often baked.

The two of you entered the kitchen, and you both immediately went to wash your hands.

You looked at Trey with a smile.

“Go ahead. You use the sink first.”

Trey shakes his head, “No, I came to help you out. It’s only fair you go on ahead.”

You stare at him a smile on your lips, “It’s just a sink, Trey.”

He flushes, “Sorry, I’m being silly.”

You shake your head, laughing at his reaction, before turning the water on, and taking his hand in yours.

“There. We can wash them together.”

You say, and look down at your entwined hands, before blushing furiously, and releasing Trey’s hand.

“Sorry, that was a bit too forward of me…” You mutter, looking away.

Trey speaks up, his cheeks red.

❝ If I may be a little more forward and say that I don’t mind, and I’ve liked you for some time now… ❞

You look at Trey, your eyes wide.

“Oh. Oh…Wow. Um, I like you too. I think you’re really cute. Does this mean we’re dating? Can we date? Are we a—“

Trey cuts you off by pressing his lips against yours, and you find yourself melting at the contact.

❝ Yes, we are a thing. ❞

No baking got done that day, but neither of you really minded that.

🥀 Riddle 🥀

Riddle stared at you, his brows furrowed.

“You seem tired. I understand the importance of studying, but ruining your sleep schedule will only make things worse for you.”

Riddle says, his tone softening the slightest bit.

You look up at him wearily, “If I fail this test then that will be worse. There isn’t a rule for staying up late, is there?”

Riddle shakes his head, sighing.

“No, there isn’t. There probably shou— Ah, never mind. I’ll be right back. Stay there please.”

You sigh, wondering what he had in mind. Riddle had changed recently, ever since the events with the Prefect.

You’d gotten to know him better since then, and despite his obsession with the rules, he was actually pretty cool.

Riddle returns a few moments later, with a cup of tea, and a strawberry tart in hand.

He slides the plate and cup of tea over to you, with a small smile.

“From my understanding sugar helps to stimulate the brain, and the tea should help you to worry a bit less.”

You look at Riddle, before chuckling a bit. That was such a Riddle thing to say.

“Thank you, Riddle. You’re not breaking any rules for this?”

You ask, teasingly and Riddle’s face flushes red.

❝S-So, maybe I like you enough to break a rule or two?! I mean you’re far cooler than the rules are… ❞

You’d been worried you’d upset him, but his reaction was actually adorable.

A soft coo escapes your lips, “Awwww, Riddle!!! I love you tooo!”

He turns away his face still red, “Y-You shouldn’t say such things so lightly.”

You raise a brow, “Then do your not accept my affections. Aw, here I thought we had something…”

Riddle sits up quickly, his gaze serious, a pout on his face.

❝ I—! Of course, I accept your affections!!! I would love it if we…had something. ❞

You grin, planting a kiss on his cheek.

“Great, hehe! You know, I’m in such a good mood I’m not so worried about that test anymore…”

Riddle’s only response is a flustered squeak, as he brings his hand up to his cheek.

♠️ Deuce ♠️

Deuce looked at you, his gaze pleading. Tonight’s homework assignment was clasped tightly in his hand.

You sigh, “No, I won’t do the homework for you, but I will help you with it. If that is what you were going to ask.”

Deuce grins, “Thanks, ___ ! You’re the best. I want to get better at this subject.”

You nod, smiling.

“You want to be an honors student, right? Sorry for assuming you wanted me to do it for you. I’m just used to being asked that.” You say with a sigh.

Deuce nods in understanding.

“No biggie. I get that. I mean, I’m not surprised with how smart you are. Yeah, I want to do well for my mom. Where’d you hear that from? Does everyone know? With how my grades are…that’s kinda embarrassing.”

You shake your head, your eyes wide.

“No,no! It just came up once in a conversation with Ace! Not everyone knows, I swear… It’s just. I was worried. You and Ace, and the prefect are always getting into dangerous situations and… I’m sorry for prying.”

Deuce smiles at you, “No, thanks for worrying about me… I’m sorry I haven’t talked to you as much lately.”

You shake your head, smiling.

“It’s fine. I get that you have other people and friends. I do too. Want to start on the assignment, then?”

You ask, and he nods.

You both sit down, and you run him through the problem.

“Crewel is a tough teacher, but once you figure out the formula you should have no problems.” You say, writing out the equation.

Deuce watches you, transfixed.

❝ You’re really something else, ———. You’re really kind and smart. No wonder, I fell in love with you. ❞

You look at him, your cheeks pink.

“You…You’re in love with me?” You ask, your tone soft.

Deuce stares at you, his cheeks burning, before giving you a tiny nod.

“Yeah, I’m really sorry. I didn’t know how to address it and I didn’t mean to avoid you, but I needed to figure it out, and then tonight I just——!”

You cut him off, throwing your arms around him in a hug.

“I love you too, silly.”

You say and he nods, smiling.

❝ Then, I promise to not disappoint you!!! ❞

You laugh, offering him a soft smile.

“As if you could.”

❤️ Ace ❤️

Ace sighed, shuffling through the deck of cards. This was the third game the two of you had played.

“I never thought I’d say this, but weekends are boring. No one’s posted anything new, and everyone else is busy with something. Thank the seven for you, ——— .” Ace says, his tone high.

You roll your eyes, elbowing him playfully.

“Yep. Good ol’ ___ here, to cure your boredom. It’s your turn, Ace.”

You say, and he snorts.

“You sound like you’re advertising something.” He says, and you grin.

“Maybe I am. Hmm. Weekends are dull without company, for a single madol, ___ here will take care of all your companionship needs!!!”

You tease and Ace rolls his eyes.

“No, because then people will take that the wrong way.”

He says and you laugh, nodding.

“Fair, fair! Platonic companionship needs sounds too lengthy, though. Maybe I should just scrap the advertisement, hm?” You say, and he snorts.

“Yeah, then I won’t have to share my weekend buddy.” He says, his tone light.

“Aww, I matter that much?” You ask, and his brow twitches.

“To hell with it. You matter a lot. I love you, ___.”

Ace says, and your eyes widen, before you hear a loud shriek from the doorway.

“No! Ace!! You wanted to confess romantically to them! We got you alone to set the mood!!! That was so un romantic!!! Dislike and MAJOR unsubscribe!!!!!”

The familiar voice of Cater rings out.

Ace puffs up, his gaze harsh.

“You were spying on me?!”

You sigh, “Cater, dear. Please go. My boyfriend and I need to have a talk.”

Cater looks between the two of you, grinning, “Ooooh~! Have fun, then!”

He leaves, leaving you alone with Ace.

“He was right, that was un romantic, but I hate sappy shit like that anyways. Go out with me?”

You say, grinning.

Ace wears a shit eating grin as he responds.

twenty-seven year old town courier – aka delivers stuff all across cynefin & verum. works odd jobs at times when deliveries and mail are slow. eldest of two siblings, astoria & osian (who is thirteen). they all live on the outskirts of town not too far away from the masoe household, where their main trade is sheep herding. because of the wool they sell, they are in direct competition with one another in the local economy. elin & alessa have always disliked each other because of this. obviously the masoe family washes the wynne-jones in terms of sales, so the wynne-jones are constantly struggling to financially make it (especially after the death of ceri’s father some years ago; more on that in a bit).

elin is cynefin born and raised while yitian came from a different part of clwyd-isle to study at verum. they met at some point during his school years and fell in love, prompting yitian to put down roots (he was especially motivated when his best friend, ira masoe, married alessa who was also a local). he struggled to find his footing in town due to the locals mistrust of outsiders/verum students, but with a lot of hardwork and dedication he managed to finally make a place for himself sometime after he was married. he took on elin’s last name.

this was short-lived after ceri was born. quickly following her birth strange things began to happen around town (a local child temporarily missing, days upon days of horrible weather, a small fire at the bakers, etc.) which on their own would’ve been written off as coincidence, but altogether made the more superstitious townsfolk jump to a conclusion: ceri is a changeling child. when locals found out elin didn’t follow “changeling protocol” (aka a pair of iron scissors by the cradle for protection, monitoring the baby and never leaving it alone, etc.) that only cemented their belief.

ceri was raised up under watchful eyes and ostracized by the larger town population. children were told to avoid her in school, the more superstitious townsfolk barred her from their homes & businesses, and if she were nearby when something went awry she was often blamed for it. is definitely othered as a whole. think anne shirley-cuthbert being put out by the population of avonlea for being an orphan. very similar vibes.

and like anne (though far less poetic/delusional, they’re definitely not 1to1 by any means) ceri didn’t really let any of those things stop her from being herself. in fact her attitude and push back would often lead to more trouble, especially during her school days. her mother still raised her up to have tons of pride in her town and her heritage within cynefin, and she’s always felt extremely connected to the land and the sea. the trope of the princess who picks up the sword and becomes her own knight.

father passed away when she was fourteen. she went to visit him at the factory to bring him lunch, and shortly after she left there was an accident. her father and another man (baek haru’s elder brother) perished in the event. some people viewed this as ceri’s fault.

doesn’t like verum or khemia as a whole because she sees it as playing with magic people don’t understand (there’s a belief around cynefin that magic is ancient and therefore can’t be entirely understood by man; kinda the exact opposite philosophy of khemia); yes, her father practiced khemia/was an alumni of verum. no, that doesn’t mean she views it very positively.

she’s also stubborn in her belief that cynefin has all you could ever need/want and any locals who leave will always come back. ceri is incredibly opinionated and therefore always believes she's right.

finishing… / CONNECTIONS & IDEAS.

WYNNE-JONES, ASTORIA. younger sister. ceri very much so sees herself as the eldest, so they definitely butt heads (especially with the way ceri has unintentionally shaped astoria’s social life and upbringing in cynefin), but their love is deep. she would do anything for her sister.

BAEK, HARU. very first friend. met when they were around nine and discovered they had the same secret hiding spot in the woods. haru would sneak out to meet up with ceri for years. were very close until haru’s brother died. haru now has it out for ceri as adults, though ceri has zero idea.

MASOE, DANTE. best friend since they were around eleven and were forced to work on a school project together. alessa used to really be against ceri due to her superstitions, but has since warmed up to her after her father’s death. their fathers were also best friends back in the day. dante has been coming to dinner once a week now for years.

OLD SCHOOLMATES. people who avoided ceri in school or made fun of her. maybe they feel bad as an adult and want to apologize, but can’t make themselves. or maybe they don’t give a fuck still and to this day they both dislike each other. maybe even someone who wanted to be her friend in school, but she misunderstood their intention and lashed out at them.

LOCAL BUSINESS BUDDY. someone ceri runs tons of deliveries for and over the course of time they’ve grown really close.

VERUM STUDENTS OR STAFF. someone who has constant debates with ceri over the practice of khemia.

ASTORIA’S FRIENDS. people who are close with her younger sister. ceri and astoria are extremely close, so ceri having positive or negative relationships with astoria’s friends is essential.

West Melbourne pet bakery finds the recipe for small business success

When Cookie the Yorkshire terrier was diagnosed with a liver condition that meant she couldn’t enjoy store-bought dog food or treats, her doting owner set about creating her own.

Starting out in a small CBD apartment in 2015, Meg Cai, began by baking a canine-friendly birthday cake for Cookie.

Cookie declared the cake a success and before long the former banker-turned-baker began creating feline-friendly treats too to cater for her two rescue cats Heihei (meaning black) and Huahua (meaning tabby).

Meg’s friends and family started placing orders for Meg to bake drool-icious delights for their pampered pets.

But it was during the lockdowns of 2020 that saw business boom for Supaw Pet Bakery, with pet parents looking for a special way to celebrate their pampered pooches and cute cats.

What was once a small home-based business has grown into a seven-day-a-week commercial operation delivering baked treats Australia-wide.

Scientists have engineered a chromosome entirely from scratch that will contribute to producing the world’s first synthetic yeast.

Researchers in the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB) at The University of Manchester have created the tRNA Neochromosome – a chromosome that is new to nature.

It forms part of a wider project (Sc2.0) that has now successfully synthesised all 16 native chromosomes in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, common baker’s yeast, and aims to combine them to form a fully synthetic cell.

The international team has already combined six and a half synthetic chromosomes in a functional cell. It is the first time scientists have written a eukaryotic genome from scratch.

Yeasts are a common workhorse of industrial biotechnological processes as they allow valuable chemicals to be produced more efficiently, economically, and sustainably. They are often used in the production of biofuels, pharmaceuticals, flavours and fragrances, as well as in the more well-known fermentation processes of bread-making and beer-brewing.

Being able to re-write a yeast genome from scratch could create a strain that is stronger, works faster, is more tolerant to harsh conditions and has a higher yield.

The process also sheds light on the traditionally problematic genome fundamentals, such as how genomes are organised and evolved.

The findings of both projects, published as two research articles of the prestigious journals Cell and Cell Genomics respectively, are a culmination of 10 years of research from an international consortium of scientists led by Professor Patrick Cai and The University of Manchester, and mark a new chapter in engineering biology.

The University of Manchester’s research also features on the front covers of both journals.

Prof Cai, Chair in Synthetic Genomics at The University of Manchester who is the international coordinator of Sc2.0 project, said: “This is an exciting milestone when it comes to engineering biology. While we have been able to edit genes for some time, we have never before been able to write a eukaryote genome from scratch. This work is fundamental to our understanding of the building blocks of life and has the potential to revolutionise synthetic biology which is fitting as Manchester is the home of the Industrial Revolution. Now, we’re at the forefront of the biotechnological revolution too.”

“What’s remarkable about this project is the sheer scale of collaboration and the interdisciplinarity involved in bringing it to fruition. We’ve brought together not only our experts here in the MIB, but also experts from across the world in fields ranging from biology and genomics to computer science and bioengineering.

Dr Daniel Schindler, one of the two lead authors and group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology and the Center for Synthetic Microbiology (SYNMIKRO) in Marburg, added: “The international Sc2.0 is a fascinating, highly interdisciplinary project. It combines basic research to expand our understanding of genome fundamentals, but also paves the way for future applications in biotechnology and drives technology developments.

“The international and inclusive nature of the project has unleashed the science and seeded future collaborations and friendships. The Manchester Institute of Biotechnology, with its excellent research environment and open space, has always facilitated this.”

The tRNA neochromosome is used to house and organise all 275 nuclear tRNA genes from the yeast and will eventually be added to the fully synthetic yeast where the tRNA genes have been removed from the other synthesised chromosomes.

Unlike the other synthetic chromosomes of the Sc2.0 project, the tRNA neochromosome has no native counterpart in the yeast genome.

It was designed using AI assisted, computer-assisted design (CAD), manufactured with state-of-the-art roboticized foundries, and completed by comprehensive genome-wide metrology to ensure the high fitness of the synthetic cells.

Next, the researchers will work together to bring all synthetic chromosomes into a fully synthetic genome. The final Sc2.0 strain will not only be the world’s first synthetic eukaryote, but also the first one to be built by the international community.

“The potential benefits of this research are universal – the limiting factor isn’t the technology, it’s our imagination”, says Prof Cai.
