Azure Potion Chapter 2 Let me In
Tumblr media
Summary: When SMG3 accidentally drinks a truth potion he ends up confessing his crush on SMG4 to Mario and Meggy. Sworn to secrecy the pair come up with a plan to find out Fours feelings and get the boys together.

The moment SMG3 landed on the showgrounds he bolted to his cafe, locking it and making sure it was sealed before dashing to his room. Meggy sighs watching him “I should have the extra pages on me still, maybe one of them has a cure.” she starts looking at the pages, Mario sighs not understanding why Three doesn't just confess already. Meggy was so focused on reading the pages that she doesn't notice SMG4 was stepping out of the castle, Mario turns, sees Four and panics, shaking Meggy “Mario im trying to read!” She turns to glare at the plumber only to notice a nervous expression.  “SMG4 hello!!” he waves exaggeratedly to keep the man's eyes on him while Meggy shoves the pages into her pockets.
SMG4 smiles at them “Hey, how was the dark web you guys got everything?” He looks around trying to find his partner.  Meggy lets out a nervous chuckle “It went amazing right Red?” Mario started to sweat as he gave a thumbs up “Pingas!” Meggy sighs as she turns to face SMG4.  Feeling something was off he looked Meggy and Mario up and down “You guys sure nothing went wrong? Usually when SMG3 gets things for a  bomb he would kidnap me to show me how they work, how the castle is still standing is a miracle.”
Meggy nods “He said something about Eggdog needing a bath!” Hearing this SMG4 relaxed, pleased to know his friends were okay he waved goodbye and returned to his castle to finish editing his videos. Mario cheered that the pair managed to avoid getting caught in their lie, Meggy on the other hand turned looking at three’s coffee n bomb concerned.
SMG3 sits on his bed frustrated, he knows the dark web like the back of his hand and yet here he is cursed with a truth potion for a whole week. Eggdog snuggles up to his father sensing how upset he is, Three looks down giving his son a small smile “Thanks Eggdog, today just isn't my day now those two idiots know about..UGH!” he throws himself on the bed blushing. They know he is in love with his long time rival, what is he supposed to do for a whole week. Keeping closed would lose him money, he can't open because if one right question is asked the truth will be free.  He hears his phone ding, taking it out he sees its a text from SMG4.
His heart flutters as he unlocks the phone and see the message “Hey talked to M&M happy to know things went smooth, can't wait to see those bombs your making”
He chuckles softly at the text picturing the other man's face while reading it, and it seems the idiots manage to keep SMG4 from suspecting anything. He starts typing away “Just you wait this bomb is going to blow your mind with its power!” After hitting send he gets up and sighs. He just needs to stay away for a whole week. How hard could that be?
A knock on the door caught his attention, peeking he saw Meggy waving at him “Three i have a few pages maybe one can help!” hearing this he ran and opened the door for her and Mario. Once they were in he blocks and seals the door again, Meggy takes everything out of her pocket.  SMG3 walks to the counter for Meggy to go over the pages, Mario on the other hand gets distracted seeing the glowing blue flower. SMG3 frowns looking at the other pages “Love potion, red string potion, ew a frog potion geez what a fairy tale. Squid none of these sound like they will help with the whole I CAN ONLY SPEAK THE TRUTH!”
Mario shrugs “Mario doesnt get why you don't just tell SMG4, you both are super gay for each other!”
SMG3 lets out a bitter chuckle “Right, hey SMG4 I know we just became friends but turns out i have a crush on you. That's how you ruin friendships idiot plus we all know he is married to his youtube channel, nothing can or will happen.” Meggy nods thinking to herself, how did SMG4 feel about Three. The pair were always together these days, naturally they would hold hands without there being any danger. She swears that Four spends more time at the cafe than anyone else in the crew, she remembers in the past how SMG4 would tell her how he hated coffee. That's when SMG3 joined the crew and offered for the first time a cup, Four drinked it with a smile and suddenly he became a coffee drinker.
Maybe there was something there, she looks at the pages and decides to ask something risky “What if we ask SMG4 for help?” Three’s eyes go wide from that “WHAT NO! That idiot finds out he will have all the ammo on me!” Meggy crosses her arms staring at the man “You really think SMG4 is that kind of person?” SMG3 stays silent looking down, suddenly he opens the door kicking Meggy and Mario out “I’ll figure this out on my own!” He slams the door and goes to the back room. He sighs sliding down the wall, now sitting on the floor he thinks of Meggy's words. It was risky, if SMG4 is still that person from before, how can he be so sure his secret won't leak cause Four will say something stupid.
Meggy glares at the cafe before picking up the papers, she looks around noticing the flower she had was missing. Deciding it wasn't important at the moment she put the papers in her pocket, she turns to the castle and walks to it “Come on Red we need to tell Four that Three is in trouble!” SMG4 sat there staring at the pair as they explained everything to him, silently he gets up and dashes out of the castle surprising the pair. Four was worried he knows how important privacy is for the man, being an open book is asking for trouble. He takes out his copy of the cafe keys and goes in,  knowing that Three wouldn't want to see his face he would be hiding in the back room. He walks over to the wall and  sits on the other side saying “Hey Three…are you okay i felt something off.”
SMG3 hugs himself, feeling the truth bubble its way out little by little. “No, today has been a shit show and I don't want you here.” SMG4 hums thinking of a way to get him to talk which was tricky knowing about the potion. He wanted to ask something that SMG3 would tell him out of free will, he smiled to himself as he stretched his hand so it could be seen by Three “I get your upset..but don't freeze me out…please let me in.” Three looks at the man’s hand and looks away “I’m sorry…it's best if you leave me alone this week, get it? I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOUR FACE!”  SMG4 gets up and places his hand on the wall “SMG3 please, i hate feeling you in pain..i wont judge or hurt you arent we partners?” Three slowly turns to the wall placing his own hand on it, he slightly smiles as he feels the meme energy from the other side.
“I cant…it will ruin everything, so get out of here…baka,” with that he walks into the elevator hoping that Four wouldn't follow him. Four stands there thinking how he could gain Three’s trust, he walks out of the cafe and notices Mario smirking at him. The look sent a chill down his spine “uh Mario why are you looking at me like that?”
Mario hands him a bottle with a strange blue liquid “Is that the…potion?” he looks up to see a mischievous grin grow on his face. Mario’s plan was simple: if both men were under the truth potion then they have no choice but to finally admit how gay they are for each other. Slowly four reach and take the bottle “How..did you get this?” Mario takes out the recipe with a flower missing petals “Mario is very good at cooking!” The choice was now in SMG4 hand, if they both are under the potion  he could understand Three and help him last the week or come up with a plan for them to hunt for a cure. Then again Mario made this, can he really trust this wouldn't kill him or do something worse. As he stares at the potion he remembers the pain he felt from SMG3, closing his eyes he chugs the drink.

“Ad Astra.”
To your astonishment, the rays flashed even brighter, they've become so blinding that you had to close your eyes.
Only when it has dimmed to a considerable degree are you able to blink and adjust your sight, feeling an incomprehensible frisson in your chest.
Is this what magic feels like? You ponder in awe as the [c] light of your Vision beats at a steady rhythm, like a heart. It floats back down to your waiting hands.
“Septem Academy welcomes you, [Surname] [Name].”
The Sustainer smiles, golden eyes appearing even warmer than before as she beckons the four behind her to make way down the carpeted center of the gathering hall.
They do as she says, following shortly after you tail along.
“As you have just recently enrolled, the classes may be too advanced, so until you've caught up, you will stay at the Hearth and learn at your pace until it's fit for you to attend class in the campus. I will have the professors know and send in the syllabuses. Of course, you are free to enter the campus library to study if you so wish.”
Down an enclosed corridor that's only lit by torches with seven respective flame colors, you cannot help the wonder that blossoms inside. Eventually, enormous double doors are reached at the end, opening on their own to reveal a brightly illuminated room.
It is circular and open spaced—a huge gazebo, if you will. In between each marble columns stand seven tall mirrors, each accented and arrayed accordingly.
A moment is needed for you to notice that beyond the place is the celestial body itself, the skies. Rolling clouds complement the azure canvas, touched with a ray of the sun.
You wonder if the eventide will be just as majestic.
“Now, unveil your Vision.”
A sense of nervousness and excitement causes your fingers to tremble in the slightest, unwrapping from the Vision that now thrums with life. The glow of white dies down, eventually marking out a detailed insignia that has your eyes widening.
The Sustainer lifts her hand, and with a voice that commands the heavens, announces.
“Ab intra—”

“Hearth Cryo!”
Crystalline snowflakes burst from nonexistence, languid with its descent that commemorates the arrival of another student acknowledged by dichotomy—governed by resolve.
It's cooling, in fact, the entire hall has been engulfed by a passing blizzard, not too much to the point of turning blue... but heavens, that was cold.
You let out a shiver at it.
After informing you that the corresponding Master has been summoned, the Sustainer vanishes into red cubes, followed by the rest of the cloaked figures that disappear through their respective mirrors after a bode of farewell and welcome.
The very moment they have gone, the mirror's surface in front of you—that's adorned in silver thorns and deep blue roses—starts to be enveloped by frost. You fear that it'd burst into shards, so you take a wary step back, only to gawk when a figure passes through with ease, frost clinging onto her body.
It billows away without even needing to be brushed off, as though they're mere fairy dust. The woman hums at you, mien coming off as captious that you instinctively straightened up. She cocks an eyebrow, looking almost bemused.
“If you keep on gawking, I'll have no choice but to vow vengeance upon you, so I suggest you start moving pronto.”
You stiffen. “Yes, ma'am!”
Shoot, I can't afford to make a bad impression right away-!
Far from being prepared at her promise of vengeance, you scurry forward, Vision in hand, towards the mirror that she gestures to. You begin to worry for yourself almost immediately, but held back from thinking too much — just be rational, and you'll do fine!
Passing through the frosty mirror, you land on soft snow, upheld by a sturdy grip on your arm. “Dear me, Eula, were you frightening the newcomer again?”
“Be quiet, Kaeya. The sooner she gets here, the better.”
Hearth Cryo's gateway is in the form of a wooden archway at the end of a forest. The winter is seemingly endless and the snowfall is heavy, though the cold isn't as biting as you thought it'd be.
Looming in the distance is a fortified castle, mighty and lonesome, it exudes the impression that it is built to defend its inhabitants from the bitter cold—or perhaps even something more?
Eula thankfully enlightens you more after catching the curio in your gaze. The Hearth isn't always in a winter stasis. In fact, it mirrors the real world the most out of the rest of the Hearths, which she mentions is always in an 'impossibly good weather'. Hearth Cryo goes through the usual four seasons, it just so happens that you manage to land in winter.
You do not know what to expect of the hearthmembers, so you're somewhat blundered when you get to see them all for the first time. They are all so... different.
You suppose that it's understandable—after all, wasn't this Hearth acknowledged by dichotomy? When you come to introduce yourself, you also did not expect their thorough introductions. Kaeya merely says that it's what makes them as tight-knit as a Hearth; everyone being so different, yet similar in the one aspect that they face significant contradictions. To an awful, almost upsetting degree.
Really, the sentimental bomb is too big of a drop, you feared they saw the glassy sheen in your eyes. You eventually understood then, that the castle sort of signified everyone's defense from the ghastly paradox thrown to them by fate.
“Heh, interested in me, are you? Oh? Don't tell me you're getting emotional over everyone? You're amusing. They may not express it well, but I'm sure that your arrival has brought some warmth this winter.”
Kaeya Alberich—you question why he's in the Academy despite already having such a nice grasp of his Vision, and he only laughs. He says that the reason is solely because he's part of an exchange program, and officially belongs to Aurum College—an educational institution for the 'magicless yet gifted'. In other words, he hailed from Khaenri'ah, a far, far away nation.
He is on his way to graduate and be a part of the Knights Brigade there, until he was suddenly blessed with a Vision. Thus, he has been sent here to master the element until it is time to return. He has a fellow Aurum student, apparently, one in Hearth Geo.
Despite being such an enigmatic man, sometimes he doesn't seem to have a filter with his words at all, bluntly stating that other than the reason for mastering his Vision, he wants to find out how the 'blessed mortals favored by gods' actually act like.
It isn't surprising; you know that the people are torn between liking and disliking the ostensibly 'biased' concept of being granted elemental magic. Everyone has dreams of their own, so why isn't everyone blessed with magic?
Kaeya enlightens you of everything that goes about Aurum College and how he personally views 'blessed mortals' in your free time. He finds some to be a bit uptight and insufferable, but nothing drastic at all—for deep down, magicless or not, everyone is human. Save for the Hearthleaders, of course. When you jokingly asked if you're a part of the group that he finds insufferable, he only gives a charmingly annoying smile. Darn him and his flirty tendencies... if Rosaria was around (and that one man from Hearth Pyro) then he'd be forced to spill!
“It's just me... ! I- My deepest apologies, I didn't mean to scare you. I give the place a thorough look over before turning in for the night. Mm? Well, believe it or not, the castle's supernatural activity spikes in the evening... even the campus'.”
It completely blew past your mind that Chongyun patrols the castle halls in the dead of night, so when you got a little peckish at midnight and aimed to grab some snacks from the distant pantry... you nearly shrieked upon spotting a terrifying blur of blue zooming past like a ghost.
If not for the candle he held nearby, you would've screamed and alerted everyone! Poor Chongyun looks just as spooked as you are though, but was much better in concealing his surprise. Shenhe, his aunt, unfortunately caught the both of you like deers in headlights.
Rosaria and Shenhe frequently joins him in this trip, see, and so they catch you wandering the halls late in the night some time again. They invited you along and you agreed! A late night adventure it is! They might have an old-fashioned way of exorcising things, but they're geared with literal ghost hunting equipment! Chongyun once expressed resigned amusement when you eagerly waited for him to explain what all the whatchamacallits do, saying you remind him of a friend.
He also says that this duty is something that he must see through until graduation, for there really are spirits roaming around in the night that needs to be exorcised or appeased lest they cause trouble. He mentions that they are ancient souls that were defeated in a long forgotten war... ooh, shivers.
At nights when you get drowsy in the middle of your 'trips', he'd gladly sit with you somewhere and let you take a nap as he tells ghost stories (and about his other friends from other Hearths). Sometimes he'd even carry you back to the castle if it feels like you're going to sleep the whole night away. He won't be able to look at you in the eye without turning into a tomato the next morning, though!
“[N-Name]... ? I noticed that you were struggling in your subjects earlier... so, do you- um-! Will you let me help you? Only if you want to, of course, I'm not coming off as demanding am I? I really only want to help- I- I'm rambling!!”
Mika is such a sweet bean. You made the mistake of calling him as such and he became putty, unable to construct intelligible sentences and even glance you without squeaking.
He becomes a completely different person when it comes to learning, however, almost like he's possessed with a spirit of vigor! He's talented in all classes except for communication-centered ones... he tries his best, though!
Along with Ganyu and Layla, he asks to tutor you after noticing the struggle to catch up with the rest and looks utterly relieved when you accepted the offer. Eula teased him about it in your presence and he fainted, literally, so you had to take him to the campus infirmary. He woke up midway and when he realized that you were carrying him there... fainted again.
Seriously, you thought he has a weak heart! Kaeya couldn't stop laughing about it, much to sweet Mika's embarrassment. It's safer to actually let it happen than to come to his defense, Ayaka once did so and the blond could only malfunction further.
He hides away in the archives of the castle, busying himself with maps of Old Teyvat that he was so engrossed in and charting possible maps of the regions beyond by reading available information. Regardless if it's on paper or in his tablet, his works are guaranteed to have intricacies. It is an interesting thing that he does that you're in awe of. Now, if only you know more about him other than his love for such things... maybe he'll eventually open up?
You've asked about the whereabouts of your Hearthleader, but even your fellow hearthmates know little about her other than the fact that she's undergoing 'executive training' under the current Archon of Snezhnaya and won't be back until months later.
Everyone doesn't really get together like most hearths do, no special and fancy celebrations other than what is already tradition, like New Year's and Christmas. Not like it matters, for everybody already is close to one another even if it doesn't seem like it.
They all are present for every breakfast and dinner—and everyone even goes to campus together! They're such a sweet bunch, Eula comments that she'll have ants all over her what with the found family dynamic. Everyone knows she's just as glad, though.
... That is, if the Hearth is in order.
There will be a blizzard outside and everyone by the fireplace will be engaged in light banter, bundled in blankets.
“Hydro Seniors are at it again with Dendro, did you see them almost sparking another debate in the cafeteria?” “I certainly did. Ayaka, your brother has a sharp tongue when it comes down to it, doesn't he?” “Indeed... he doesn't intend to cause harm, however. In fact, I believe he fancies the academic rivalry that's proceeding.” “At least your brother doesn't mean any harm with it, unlike Kaeya who likes to pick up a fight with Ragnvindr... Eula, how are you not punishing him for this?” “Rosaria! Hey now! That's no fight. Diluc and I are merely having a wholehearted conversation.” “Even if I did, it's not like he'll stop. Leave him to it, vengeance will be served soon, anyway... ah, Ganyu, Shenhe, how are things going on your end?” “Certainly well! I've managed to work around the stress of so many papers so I had some decent sleep lately.” “But you were awake yesterday night until three in the morning? My nephew and I saw light in your room while going about the castle.” “Yes... we heard some grumbles, as well... we thought it was a spirit until we realized that it was just Ganyu fussing over her projects with Layla.” “S-Shenhe, Chongyun, shhh... !” “Lying won't work at all, you're caught red handed~” “It could not be helped! I was helping Mika research about something, too, so-!” “Ganyu, that was supposed to be a secret!” “Wow, I need some wine for this- hey, Kaeya!” “Everyone, tone down! I cannot believe you all started falling apart and [Name] hasn't even been here for a full week yet! Mark my words, vengeance will be-!” “Yes, yes, Master.” “Alberich... !”

“Hearth Pyro!”
Balls of fire spew from nonexistence, blistering with its heat that commemorates the arrival of another student blessed with resolution—governed by cathexis.
Oddly enough, they aren't burning hot at all. The heat that it carries is tender, like the cozy warmth from a fireplace, it's utterly comforting. It very much feels as though you are being gazed upon by a kind sun.
After informing you that the corresponding Master has been summoned, the Sustainer vanishes into red cubes, followed by the rest of the cloaked figures that disappear through their respective mirrors after a bode of farewell and welcome.
A girl with pretty pink hair passes through the mirror to your left, nodding in what you can assume is content as she takes in your appearance. “[Surname] [Name], correct? I'm Yanfei, I'll be guiding you to our Hearth.”
“It's nice to meet you,” you return her nod as you walk closer, examining the mirror in great detail. It is coated in gold, with fragments and shards floating about in a bright scarlet glow.
“Same here!”
Rubies, maybe? Or firestones?
Catching the awe in your gaze, she giggles, proud. “Pretty, isn't it? Our Hearth is even prettier! Come, let's not keep them waiting any longer. Everyone's pretty excited that we're having someone new, you know?”
Ah, that's good to hear. It's comforting to know that they're all open to someone who has practically appeared out of the blue.
“Alright, then!” you return her smile, letting her go first before following shortly behind.
Warmth is the very first thing that welcomes you, tolerable and actually faint, like you're bundled in a blanket. The next thing, is a bright light that nearly blinds you had your eyes not adjusted.
A series of greetings are soon heard, all with varying levels of excitement.
Yanfei isn't kidding when she said that Hearth Pyro is really pretty. An extravagant, rustic-style mansion (goodness, you think it's even bigger than a mansion) stands before you. A column of arches draped with crystals line up to the front porch, with enormous trees bearing gold and scarlet leaves seen all about the place.
Also, was that a pheonix flying by just now? Alas, there is little time to be astounded, because you're hearing calls from all sorts of directions.
Your hearthmates' smiles are blinding (save for that well-composed man at the back and that twin-tailed girl's... devilish grin-) as they gather around, tugging you to the mansion as if you're someone they knew from long ago. Their cordial behavior is uplifting, you can't help but be put at ease.
Right then and there, you just know that there won't be any rainclouds over your head—not when everyone is a ray of sunshine. You didn't even think it was possible for so many friendly people to be in a single place! Is this what a good world looks like?
Hearth Pyro already feels like home. There is just something about it that carries such comfort. Not to mention, the hearthmembers' personalities. They even threw you a welcome party!
They are the friendliest out of all the Hearths and you aren't surprised. You also learn that they host most of the school events, serving as emcees and even mediators for clashing Hearths. Which, again, isn't surprising at all.
“Good morning. I take it that you had a good night's rest? Oh, I'm an early riser, I just got back from the campus, here are your papers. Don't be nervous to ask if you need help understanding something.”
Diluc Ragnvindr, he's the heir to a hefty inheritance and is the next company head of Dawn Winery in Mondstadt. Familiarity did not strike a chord until you heard his surname and you almost freaked out. His father has commissioned you once to bake the sweets for an event, how can you not know of the Ragnvindr name? Though you've never met the son- until now, that is.
He's just as surprised, but admits that he's heard of you from his father. Along with the reveal of his name comes with his reason for studying in Septem; despite already having his future set in stone, he has revealed that he plans to be high in the ranks of the Favonius Brigade, as well.
Thus, if he isn't occupied with studying or other affairs pertaining to the wine industry—he expressed distaste in wine itself, which is surprising—he can be found in the campus' or the Hearth's barracks. If that 'annoyance' in Hearth Cryo is around the campus, then he won't stay and linger there anymore. If he's nowhere to be seen, then best to assume that he's holed up in another extravagant meeting outside the Academy.
You do wonder how he's able to stay at topnotch shape despite having at least more than five responsibilities, though. And when he finds out, he just chuckles, saying that such stresses are necessary if he seeks to see the fulfillment of his objectives.
Since he is more than aware of the weight of stress, he's extra heedful of everyone, always saying not to push themselves and take a rest. It's become a part of his routine to give aid—knowing that you will not ask him for help even if you clearly need it—and make you your preferred beverage in the mornings.
“Oh shoot, [Name], I'm sorry-! Oh go- is it- is it that hot?! Heck, of course it is, wait here, I'll go get the med kit! Then I'll treat you to the cafeteria to make up for it!”
You knew that Hearth Pyro is too good to be true, you just knew that there had to be something—or in this case, someone—that counters the good. And that's, ladies and gentlemen, bad luck in the form of a poor student, Bennett.
When Amber once told you to watch yourself around Bennett because you may get hurt, you didn't believe her- how can a sunshine bring you harm?! Yes, you ate those words the moment he spilled the coffees he was carrying onto you.
It was a disaster at the table and it was only six in the morning! Luckily, no one was awoken by both of your screeching. You've never heard someone apologize so quickly after slamming his head unto the floor (how is he not bleeding from that!?). Quick to defuse the situation, you tell him it's alright, he can't control his bad luck.
He means well, you know it, so how can you hold a grudge and be petty? Such a poor sweetheart! He makes up for it by buying you snacks from the canteen whenever he can, sometimes even staying up to keep you company. Movies? Movies!
Bennett has a heart of gold and you admire how he keeps his head up in spite of his bad luck. He does not stop trying, does not stop dreaming. You told him this once and his face glowed as red as the Vision strapped to his belt bag, spluttering incoherent sentences one after the other until ultimately—accidentally—knocking your pencil case off the table and- well, there goes your papers, too...
“Hey there! You didn't come down for dinner, so we all assumed you were busy studying. I brought you your meal! Oh, and I had the same professor when I took that class, I'll get my notes for you real quick, okay?”
Thoma seems to have a lot of time available despite being a full-time student in the Hearth- how the heck does he manage keeping track of his straight A's while maintaining the dorm pristine?
The chores are meant to be divided so why does he do it all?! When confronted about it he laughs it all away and says that everyone should just focus on whatever it is they're doing and leave the work to him, which is unacceptable! So, to sweet Thoma's chagrin, Diluc took over the cooking with Xiangling, Yanfei and Hu Tao were in charge of handling written affairs, Xinyan and Bennett dusted away the furniture, whilst Yoimiya and Amber tended to everyone's equipment weekly. Dehya is in charge of ascertaining the extracurricular activities delegated by the Council (Celestia) for the Hearth.
Thoma said that it was fine, but everyone knew how much he appreciated it despite him reasoning that it felt much like he's sinning(!?)—which resulted to laughter. He learned to ask for help eventually, much to the relief of many.
That doesn't mean that he's let go of his tendency to try and take a step further when it comes to helping others, however. He pins his focus on you whenever possible and you're truly thankful! After helping you settle in the Hearth, he accompanied you to the Atelier, a place where you buy other essentials. He even treated you to dessert and insisted that you need not pay him back!
He's an angel and everyone concurs. Though rivalries between Hearths are ineludible, no one ever sought him out to a magic battle or anything of the like. All students tolerate—if not like—this man. Goodness, even the professors are fond of him, what's his secret?!
Hearth Pyro is in charge of Septem's ceremonies, be it from the hosting of Spring Festival or the Magical Cotillion that's held the night before New Year's, everything falls in their hands. This entails that they have full authority over the themes and games, a lovely specialty of those in the Hearth.
Sadly, because of this, there are very few instances where everyone can take a breather, for the academy has frequent celebrations. Even so, this does not dampen everyone's spirits, because who says planning can't be fun?
It may not be to some, but this is Hearth Pyro, fun is its core!
Besides, the Headmaster said that if there are any leftover mora from the budget, it can be used by the members of Hearth Pyro however they see fit. A kind of compensation for all the work, without a doubt.
And oh, where that money goes... (karaoke, field trips, weekend getaways, a special tour in the Ragnvindr's Winery!?)
Additionally, since everyone is working and planning in one place, the opportunity for a huge slumber party is thrown, solely for members of the Hearth only!
With a movie playing in the background and pizza boxes open, everyone bundled in duvets on the floor and typing plans, ah, what a night!
“December... ah, we've to arrange the Magical Cotillion, right? How d'ya suppose we go about the theme this time?” “Not yet, Xinyan! We have Winter Cradle to go through first. It's taking place at the 15th... ooooh, what shall we do to make this exciting. Maybe another ghost event~” “Ah, I completely forgot about that! It's a good thing that it only takes up three days compared to Spring Cradle... you have any ideas, Thoma?” “Oh, oh! What if we have every Hearth participate in a cooking competition? We can have outsiders as judges! Don't we need to raise something for charity as well?” “You're just using this opportunity to cook, aren't you.” “Diluc!” “Well, Xiangling's idea doesn't sound half-bad. I don't think we ever hosted a cooking competition... in December.” “Hahaaa! That's 'cause things like that fit more in the Summer! But hey, a lil' deviation won't hurt anyone now, would it? Besides, if Thoma's handlin' it then no one will argue!” “We can be mellow with the second game for the next day, then. How does Elemental Trace sound to you, Yanfei?” “Dehya... isn't that the free-for-all game where you have to hide your Hearth flag and Leader while the enemy tries to capture them both? Should we allow element-infused paintballs this time, Yanfei?” “H-Hold on, how is that mellow-!?” “I don't see a problem with this at all, Dehya, a great idea! Don't worry, Amber, Septem is far from being mellow, anyway! Now, for the appropriate punishments for the losing teams... Headmaster asked us to try and strengthen the Hearths' camaraderie with one another, yes?” “I don't like where this is going...” “Winning Hearth is exempted. Losing Hearths will pair themselves up and room together in each other's dorms for two weeks.” “This is going to result to chaos... If Dendro and Hydro end up pairing together...” “Well, all the more reason to win, don't you think? We can ask the twins for help this time, we should make it complicated, hm~”

“Hearth Anemo!”
Glowing feathers materialize from nonexistence, delicate with its descent that commemorates the arrival of another student blessed with ideals—governed by freedom.
You are unable to be in awe for much longer, for just as you are about to caress a feather that droops nearby, excited murmurs flood your hearing.
The Sustainer vanishes into red cubes after giving you an almost strained smile, followed by the rest of the cloaked figures that disappear through their respective mirrors after a bode of farewell and welcome. Well, one of the cloaked figures, a tall one with a molten gold Vision clipped at the front, rebukes.
“Do not tow the new student in your Hearth's knavery, let her focus.”
“Hey! Don't tell me what to do, I'll have you know, my Hearthmembers know when to behave!” responded the one that is now standing before you, huffing as the taller figure disappeared through his mirror.
You blink, stupefied. Ah, that was a warning and implication, wasn't it? Does it mean that the Hearth you've been sorted to often attracts trouble-?
“Hehe~ Hi there, [Name]!” wow, he has a beautiful set of eyes, “I'm Hearthleader Barbatos, but you can just call me Venti. I'm glad to have you as our newest addition!”
Venti is relentlessly shaking your hands with a bright grin. Although his visage leans more onto the cute side, with the way he winks at you, you're led to believe that he can be just as boyish if he wants to.
“Likewise,” you nod, unable to stave off the smile that tugs on your lips and he cheers. Immediately, he tugs you towards his mirror, one that emanated such a pleasant breeze that you can't help but sigh.
The Hearthleader catches onto this and puffs his chest out in pride with an even bigger grin than before, saying he's thankful that you liked the winds he's personally conjuring about. It's baffling, to suddenly know that he's been using his magic all along.
He laughs, his hand halfway through the mirror.
“Don't worry, I'll make sure you master the winds just as well, now, are you ready to go?”
You nod and he hums, taking a step inside. “Okay, you ready to fall out of the sky?”
“Yes— wait what-!?”
He pulls you inside, ignoring your demands for clarifications as he yells, “Here we go!”
Eyes snapped shut, your screams clash with his guffaws. Pride left forgotten, you cling onto your Hearthleader—as embarrassing as it is—as you both quite literally, fall out of the sky. The race of your heart drums in your ears as the wind envelops your freefall.
Upon Venti's insistence, you pry your eyes open and—woah. It doesn't even occur that you are still free-falling as you take in the breathtaking view; Hearth Anemo consists of large, floating islands, with the dorm itself standing on the biggest and central island.
The sky is the bluest shade there is, the clouds are as fluffy as cotton, and the cool wind never stops from breezing by—hold on, did a dragon just fly past?!
The sight of the entire place prevents you from noticing the hold your Hearthleader has on your waist, steady and gentle in your descent upon the lush, viridescent grass, where the rest of the hearthmembers wait. A kind blonde lady steadies you the moment your feet are on the ground, giving a lightly reprimanding look towards Venti, who only giggled.
With the way Jean—the Hearth Master—lectures him about your entry, you're led to believe that this is how everyone else is welcomed. An elfish thing to do, certainly, but you can't start to deny things—not when you learned to enjoy it. Albeit only in the last second.
The members of Hearth Anemo are... interesting. Aside from the ladies who are very well-mannered and decorous, the men, on the other hand... hm, is unique the word? They're a colorful, rowdy bunch, exhibiting lax with a touch of differing rascality.
“[Name]! [Name], what'cha doing- eh!? You're still studying? But you already passed your assignments, didn't you? Let's go do something, pleaaaaaaase! It's a Saturdayyyy!”
Most of the time, Venti does not act much like a Hearthleader, commonly found sprawled out on the sofa snoring away with his headset blaring music. He doesn't even make it into his room! By far, the most lenient out of all known leaders, as commented by Heizou.
Do not let it sway your belief that he's incapable of being earnest, though! He has his fair share of formidable moments, surfacing especially when it comes to matters regarding the nation he'll rule over soon, or when he seems to be reminiscing about something. It unsettles everyone—even Scaramouche—to a certain degree whenever it happens.
He may be high-spirited, but he's Menace #1. It is because of your dearly beloved Hearthleader that you grew paranoid enough to lock your bedroom door. The very morning after your welcome in the dorm, you wake up screaming because of a huge, huge dragon pushing his face to your window—courtesy of Venti, of course. It took only a matter of seconds for the rest of your hearthmates to scramble into your room, wielding questionable kitchen utensils from a whisk to a frying pan despite being half-asleep.
You cannot bring yourself to look at them in the eye because of embarrassment and Venti is just obnoxiously laughing away as if it's a daily occurrence! Sucrose shyly empathizes with you, saying that everyone practically went through the same thing and they've all forgotten to warn you about it last night.
Safe to say, you make sure to lock your room and windows after that, for though the Hearthleader manages to pull pranks even outside the safety of your room, you won't let him bother your sleep any longer! This results to him pawing the outside of your door as if he was a cat begging to be let in.
“The winds are lovely, aren't they? Their caress is comforting even in the eventide. Ah, yes, I can spend all afternoon basking here in solitude... feel free to stay, I do not mind at all.”
Whenever you feel stressed, burnt out, or just failing to be in the right spirits for the day, you seek Kazuha out. He just bears this kind of aura that doesn't fail to allay whatever weight is in your chest. Maybe it's the way he's always so at peace? Maybe his sweet smile?
He comes to you after the small party in honor of your arrival, ever so graciously asking if you'd allow him to help you settle in the dorms and with your studies. Why in Celestia's name is he so kind? Thus, for all that he has done, he has the honor of taking the first bite of the cake you made as thanks for everyone's pleasant welcome (all except for one).
Sucrose joins him in teaching you from time to time, and with their help, you easily manage to get a hang of the classes. Kazuha turns down your offer of payment each time, saying that it's only right for a fellow hearthmate to help another. Ugh, really!
When you aren't busy or being badgered by the rest of your hearthmates, he invites you to go out with him during the weekend, visiting his home nation whenever possible. He can't stick in one place, he says, so he finds the time to go out—it explains why if he's not helping you in your studies, then he might as well be deemed a missing person. Imagine your surprise when you find out that he likes taking naps in the middle of class, yet, his grades are excellent...
He's pretty old-fashioned, too, being all chivalrous and poetic you nearly thought he belonged in Hearth Hydro. You can't forget when he welcomed you in the dorm with a kiss to your knuckles. Kazuha is a sweet man, but with the way his eyes twinkled almost devilishly, you believe that he has his own hidden side of mischief.
“What are you doing out here at this hour? You need-... me? I don't need to tell you anything. Huh? You're a fool, sacrificing slumber just to what, stare at the moon? Wait, you... want me to join?”
He seems to dislike you, avoiding eye contact and sneering when you accidentally brush past him. This led to you steering clear, not liking the idea of burgeoning whatever enmity there is. It's not until you overhear Venti lecturing him about his 'rebarbative shyness' that you start assuming; maybe he's not that bad. Jean and Heizou backed this up, saying that Xiao does think nicely of you... only, he doesn't know how to express that.
You want to believe them, but it's hard when the student in question is glaring from across the breakfast table! Your muted tussle with him is peak entertainment for the rest in the Hearth, though. Scaramouche doesn't have the slightest bit of filter each time he laughs sardonically at the predicament—and that only worsened the glare on your person!? 〒▽〒??
Things change the night you wake up from a nightmare. Disfavoring the idea of heading back to sleep, you bundle yourself with a blanket and head out of the dorm into the comfort of the winds. You take the opportunity to walk around the entire Hearth, past the bridges connecting floating islands and mountains.
His presence surprises you as he, quite literally, jumps from the precipice of a mountain. The winds slowed and aided his descent, but holy smokes, how are his knees okay?! Your terrified expression causes him to scowl and... reprimand you for staying out so late? Huh? Is he concerned?
When he learns that you're awake because of nightmares, he grows silent, as if he can relate. His face turns pink when you invite him to stargaze as a way to pass the time. He vehemently refuses—but gives in after your silence, even lending you an earphone so you can listen to music! And so you both pass the night gazing at the night sky until you wake up to see the stupid grins of your hearthmates. Xiao may have avoided you out of embarrassment, but everything's good now, really!
“A trace of flour in your hair, an aroma of chocolate, hm, something tells me that you're quite an expert in baking sweets... oh, I'm right? Aha! But of course, my intuition never disappoints me. Say, will it be too much to ask you to bake something? I can help you out~”
He goes by the name of Shikanoin Heizou, but you know him as Menace #2. This man actively engages in pranks with Venti and is one of the main source of the Hearth's ensuing chaos, be it within the dorm itself or during competitions. He may not be a fan of physical confrontations, but he loves being subtle and 'harmless' when he messes around with other Hearths.
Contrary to his impish nature, he becomes pro-faced when he's in his specialized class, criminology. And in spite of still being a student, you hear that he has already made a name for himself outside the Academy. (Venti tells you that it's only because Heizou gets in the way of police officers, though.. and manages to catch the criminal before they can).
He's rather fearsome, what with his intuition and intellect. He gives off the impression of a slacker—and he does slack around, so how is it that he's still in the top of his specialized class, clashing with a silver-haired rival? Heizou once offered to teach you, with a price that he didn't bother elaborating on. Yeah, you didn't want to risk anything, so you turned it down, much to his laughter.
He, much like Venti, has a habit of dragging you around places for no reason. You're fine with it, until you both somehow ended up stumbling into a completely different mirror—and into Hearth Electro, where a silver-haired Master (is he that rival?) was a second away from enacting 'judgement' for crossing without notice.
To your complete horror, Heizou is only laughing as he tugs your wrist, dragging you along in your run/escape/hunt to find the portal that transports you back to the Paths Chamber. By the time you've both landed in the safety of the Hearth, he's still laughing. He promised to take over your chores for a week, though, so all's good and well. (Until he drags you somewhere again.)
“Winter Cradle begins weeks from now, it's a competition between Hearths, I expect you not to drag us down lest those pyromaniacs think up of some absurd punishment. Well? What're you gawing at? Move.”
Oh he hates you, alright—no, he despises you for sure! How do you know? Because when you came up to greet him during the welcome party, he sneered and told you to kindly [REDACTED] off and leave him the [REDACTED] alone, smiley face :)
You shouldn't feel too down though, assures Jean. 'Cause even if Scara 'hates' everyone, he'll learn to accept and 'tolerate' your presence in the Hearth. Yeah, you think it'll be a long time from now, so you try not to talk to him unless it's necessary.
Menace #3. Pushing people's buttons and riling them up must be his life mission, but unlike Heizou who doesn't mean any harm, this guy means it and is absolutely blunt when it comes to his comments (insults). He revels in seeing people pissed off and it has once led the Headmaster to confine the whole Hearth in their dorm for two weeks.
Though he butts head with Xiao a lot, it pales when he's up against that one ginger in Hearth Hydro. He'll be incessant with his goading and comments, but will stop when intercepted. When you went to stop him from picking a fight with Hearth Dendro's Buer—aka their Hearthleader—he only gave you a scowl before backing off. You received Jean and Venti's endless thanks afterward... and you end up being assigned as Menace #3's mediator slash personal 'i'm so sorry for him, he doesn't know what he's doing' speaker.
You don't realize that aside from some of the set rules in Septem and Hearth Anemo, he only listens to you—and Kazuha points it out during dinner. It isn't surprising to see Scara explode, but what catches everyone off-guard is seeing his red, red face. From then on, it isn't hard to notice how pink his cheeks go even if he's scowling at you. What's up with him?
Hearth Anemo has a tradition of spending time together. Happening at the end of each month, everyone will race around the whole Hearth, going through the main islands and the tiny other floating islets before leaping off the land and taking flight, sometimes crossing portals to other Hearths.
Sounds absurd? Well apparently, everyone has their own manner of 'flight' save for Heizou, Kazuha, and Jean (very swift runners), who channels Anemo on their feet so they can leap higher and jump from floating stones to another.
During your first race, Venti had you join him on the dragon during flight, alongside the runners whilst the rest fly along. Xiao and Scaramouche are arguing in mid air, whilst poor Sucrose and Faruzan—who are seated on a winged cube and prism—almost go deaf nearby.
It is incredibly relieving to just take to the skies and you saw the way everyone smiled—except for a certain someone—when you expressed determination to master the winds so you can fly alongside them next time.
“Hey, does anyone know where [Name] is? I've been searching for her all morning..” “Heh, maybe she's got enough of your face, Hearthleader. Didn't you wake her up with that dragon of yours again?” “Scaramouche, how awful of you to even assume such things! My dear hearthmember can't possibly be annoyed of me!” “No, I think he's right for once.” “Not you too, Xiao!” “U-um, if it helps... Master Jean and I saw her with the representatives in charge for finding the venue for the Magical Cotillion earlier..” “Hm, so she's with those from Hearth Pyro?” “No, Hearth Pyro is currently busy with Winter Cradle, so they asked some help in searching for a place-” “You guys! Kaveh just posted: #outwithnewstudent! #busydayahead #scoutingtonsofplaces #septemlife #alhaithambailedagain. She's with this Kaveh guy, the Ragnvindr, Hearthleader Morax, Mona, Cyno, and Alberich.” “Thank you for informing us, Heizou. What an odd line-up... so every Hearth has one representative. But I suppose it'll work out just fine since Kazuha went with her-” “Kazuha's with her!?” “What is with all this noise! I can't focus on my research if- hey, where are you all going? Woah-! Ah, Master Jean... they're all gone..” “... Well, since the boys left, it looks like you can focus on your work now.”
Tumblr media
— Aether —Bonus: Lumine [Platonic]
“... Null.”
The reveal stuns the four in cloaks, whispers and murmurs arising that does little to satisfy your confusion. Null? Does this mean that...
In all its incadescent glory, the glow of your Vision remains a still white, obstinate and unchanging to other known seven colors. I don't have a place here?
“This is most surprising... who would've thought that we'll have another case like this?” concern blooms upon discerning the conflict in the Sustainer's voice, who then gazes at you imploringly.
“I would like to apologize, dear, but as you do not belong to any known Hearths, you will...”
You stiffen. Ah, I know that coming here was too good to be true.
“... Be living at the campus itself.”
Wait—
“Excuse me?” you splutter. “I thought that- doesn't null mean nothing? How can I ever... with this?”
The white Vision that holds no insignia of any element proceeds to pulse as though it is your heart. It draws in the rest of the cloaked figures, whose whispers entail something about 'twins' and with you as another addition to the cryptic 'element'.
It ignites a sense of hope inside. Are they implying that you aren't the only one granted with the blankness of a gift?
Almost like the fair woman is attuned with your train of thoughts, she places a hand on your shoulder. “Before your arrival, twin siblings have come to grace the Academy with a similar conundrum, and their Visions...”
You, along with the four figures, flinch at the way cracks litter across the case of the gift- until it bursts- and disappears as though it wasn't there in the first place.
“... Much like yours, shattered and vanished,” she then takes your hand and turns it over to view the rhombus mark that has just recently appeared. “Then in its stead, a marking of sorts came.”
A four pointed star luminescent with pinks, blues, and violets glow on your palm, bright and telling.
The Sustainer dismisses the group of four shortly as you marvel at the enchanting sight of the prism-like mark. It's beautiful.
Alone with the golden-eyed woman, she leads you out of the Paths Chamber and back into the halls, threading across the grand interior of the Academy. No one is around, but you seem to hear the faintest sound of little children singing—well, you think it belongs to children.
Out of the corner of your eyes, you see a handful of tiny creatures wobbling about with equally tiny hats and a fixed smile. However, they scurry to hide whenever you try to catch them.
Eventually, after passing the many, many sections of the campus and heading up several floors through a hidden staircase that only appears when you step onto it, you reach the peak of the Academy itself.
Who would've thought that a living space will be here? Despite technically being a loft—a large, beautiful one that stretches throughout the whole floor—it feels homely. If not for the blessing of sight, and if you relied on the atmosphere alone, you would've believed this to be the house you grew up in. Preoccupied with marveling over the place, the sound of the names being called flies past your ears.
Well, until the Sustainer is tapping your shoulder and you're turning to set your eyes upon twin siblings.
“Someone else is actually just like us! Glad to meet you, I'm Aether. It gets a little lonely around here, Lumine's getting sad 'cause she doesn't have anyone to speak to other than me because it's not permitted to sleep over at other dorms- hey, stop hitting me- but it's the truth!?”
Somehow, the range and utility of elements come to both siblings with relative ease, unlike you. For this very reason, Aether helps you out with learning how to get the hang of each of them. This carries on even after you're finally permitted to learn in the campus, and he becomes some kind of guard whenever someone makes you too uncomfortable. The attention of being able to wield seven elements is suffocating.
In a surprising turn of events, this guy actually has the guts to skip class. Not often, but he does so if he feels like the day is too 'bland' for his tastes. He still aces his exams, though. The twins appear like role model students, but do people know that they're sharing food in the middle of class? No!?
In potionology, a class he excels in, he concocts the best of brews with little to no side effects at all. For the fun of it, he sometimes brews a potion that somehow works as a meal—it's strange, but hey! You and Lumine are starting to live off of it when spending all-nighters, much to his utter concern. You both need actual food, not potions! o(≧口≦)o
Curses! You really thought that he's the sweetheart between the twins, but he has a devilish side to him, huh? He just adores waking you up in the morning in a bunch of ways. Once, he teasingly roused you from your sleep whilst being close to your face (you couldn't face him for hours), and one time, he sent you flying with Anemo!
Overlook his antics, however, then he really can be quite the sweetheart. Moments when you feel down, he'll give you a tub of ice cream. He goes out of his way to make sure you have the maximum amount of comfort in the 'dorm', and will not hesitate to help you with literally anything.
“I'm relieved to know that it isn't just us. Do you need help with something? You can count on me, Aether's a big dummy anyway. Let me tell you, he was just as bored as I am, he simply didn't want to admit it- hoh, so now you're hitting me!”
Although the dorm is spacious enough to accommodate the addition of another room, you bunk in with Lumine, to her excitement. Initially, you thought her to be mellow, but she's pretty high-spirited! The very night you arrived, you're both up so late in the early morning that if Aether hadn't barged in with a scolding session, it's a certainty that you wouldn't have slept at all.
It never deters either of you from doing it over and over, though. It has become so thrilling pretending to be asleep when Aether comes in to check if you're resting, and laughing silently when you get away with it. If you're lucky enough, you can even rope him in!
If Lumine manages to wake up early (a rare occurrence), she will save you from her brother's impish rousing. If not (an almost daily event) then you both can chase him for the sudden ice bath that woke you up and drenched you whole.
Lumine is the one to be a helping hand in your written studies, contrasting her twin, who guides you with your magic. She can be pretty strict, but all is well, for it's through her teaching that you are quickly able to have classes in the main campus.
She understands the stuffiness of being in the spotlight just as well as Aether does, so she diffuses any escalating situation that will stress you further, especially in class. Ah, and she is aware- more than aware of your escapades, how can she not? Ask her to join next time! (And so, three 'null' students are nowhere to be found in campus from time to time...)
The twins are pretty popular among the student body all because of their atypical ability and kindness. Now that there's a rumor about a third student being able to wield seven elements, oh dear.
They like to hold each of your hand as you go down for class, a very heartwarming sight for many. As the time folds on, however, you notice that Aether is giving some of the students a smug look... ah, one can only wonder why. (Lumine slaps her head and says that you're terribly dense.)
Leisure time with the twins is heavenly! You do all sorts of things, from movie marathons, to baking tons of desserts, playing video games, leaving the Academy for little trips- everything! Tight-knit as ever, mess with one, you mess with the two! So everyone knows not to, at all costs, get on their bad side...
During event games like the Seasonal Cradles in which it'll be dorms against dorms, you three have the luxury of either participating or sitting out. It's fun! You can't forget the Halloween event when Hu Tao and co approached to ask for help in scaring the students, ah yes, that was golden.
By the time a semester has passed by, these twins are knowing of everyone's warranted fascination about you. Quick, let one of them snip a photo of you three together and just post it in social media... nuh-uh, you're their precious dorm mate- uh, hearthmate, um- loftmate?? Be jelly, suckers!
You expected to be sorted to a Hearth, yes, but right now? You are perfectly fine and elated to be with the twins. Will not have it any other way!
“I think everyone's leaving for their homes this semester break?” “Mhm, what about it?” “Hooooo~ That means the whole campus and the Hearths are all for ourselves! Should we go have some fun?” “Lumine, I don't think we can just enter anyone's Hearth without permission. Plus, [Name]...” “Actually, I haven't seen any Hearths yet. I'd like to visit, but I don't want to intrude on anyone's business.. I don't know everyone as well as you two, either..” “Okay let's do it.” “Brother, I didn't know you can be this down bad for-” “We can also ask the Council for a gate pass so we can travel outside if we want to!” “Oh, that's a great idea!” “Quit ignoring me, you two!”
Tumblr media
A lot can happen in the span of five years.
Your life at Septem Academy may have just begun, but with the way things kicked off at a great start, you’re relieved to say that maybe the adventure really is just beginning, as well.
Ah, but before all that, perhaps you first need to catch up on learning how to utilize your newfound magic.
Tumblr media
a/n: so~ it's revealed that kaeya/albedo are exchange students from the distant college in Khaenri'ah! holy smokes, they came from so far :'))
also added a bonus hearth! well technically not a Hearth, since it's just Aether and Lumine- but there's MC now. they are referred to as nulls because of the plain white glow that they have on their chests (in this case, MC's hand) and the obvious lack of elemental sigil. still, they're op DSADASK
whenever i'll make more works for this particular au that will be tagged "m-septem", MC is always sorted similarly to the twins, as a 'null' student. unless stated otherwise, ofc! and boy i have a lot of scenarios for septem.

a guide to people’s names, titles, and other forms of address in cang lan jue/love between fairy and devil
so for chinese media, i like knowing how to read and pronounce the characters’ names, but when trying to look up the names of the clj/lbfad people, i found the info i wanted rather hard to find. i wanted to know what characters made up their names! how to pronounce them! what their different titles and nicknames meant and what kind of people address them by those names! so i decided to try compiling this info myself, on a whim. it’s taken a HOT minute, and a Lot of scrubbing through the episodes, and it will probably need to be updated and edited as i go about rewatching the show (and improving my chinese :’) aha) but here’s what i got for now! feel free to message me if you have suggestions, edits, corrections, or requests :) hopefully some people find this helpful or interesting – i know some of the things i’ve included here are lost in translation in netflix’s english subtitles.
disclaimer of sorts: for definitions, i used MDBG (mdbg.net) and the Pleco app. also, i’m a native english speaker who’s been learning chinese for a handful of years; my chinese is so-so and i tend to miss things like Connotations™. i’ve watched the show 1.5 times and read 1 page of the book. i did my best :P again, open to suggestions! please be sure to check this source post for the most updated version, as i imagine i’ll be making edits now and again.
this is in no particular order. for each person, i put their official/most commonly used name at the top, then in bullets beneath that i’ve listed definitions for the individual characters in their name, along with any other titles or nicknames that they have been called in the show. any somewhat extraneous information is in italics.

the title of the show and the original novel; 苍 (cāng) refers to Dongfang Qingcang, 兰 (lán) refers to Xiao Lanhua, and 诀 (jué) means “farewell.” i’ve seen some people translate this as the Parting of the Fairy and Devil. (i discovered this halfway through watching the show and it made me SO nervous for how the show would end)
九鹭非香 (Jiǔ Lù Fēi Xiāng) is the author’s name/pseudonym.
东方青苍 Dōngfāng Qīngcāng
character breakdown: 东方 (dōngfāng) = east, eastern. 青 (qīng) = green, sometimes blue or black (or blue-green), young/youth. 苍 (cāng) = dark blue, deep green, ash-gray.
my hypothesized derivation of his name: while i was researching the Black Tortoise (玄武 Xuánwǔ) for this post, I Discovered Something Rather Important. there are four mythological creatures that symbolize the chinese constellations and four cardinal directions. besides the Black Tortoise, there are the White Tiger (白虎 Báihǔ), Vermillion Bird (朱雀 Zhūquè), and the Azure Dragon (青龙 Qīnglóng). the Azure Dragon represents the east. so get this: its epithet is the Azure Dragon of the East. in chinese it is called 东方青龙 (Dōngfāng Qīnglóng) or 东方苍龙 (Dōngfāng Cānglóng). SOUND FAMILIAR?? ISN’T THAT COOL?? i just think that is so cool. yes, the characters are the same as in Dongfang Qingcang’s name. associated with the Azure Dragon are: East (direction), Spring (season), Dawn (time of day), Blue/green (color), and Wood (chinese element). my mind imploded when i discovered this, have a good day.
大魔头 dà mótóu: (used in the book, changed to “da mutou” in the show for reasons? some folks mentioned they might have been censoring “mo”) lit. translates to big devil head/boss/chief, big demon boss
大木头 dà mùtóu: (phonetically similar to da motou, changed to this in the show for Reasons™) lit. big wooden head, big wooden chief/boss, or big log. it can also be translated as big blockhead, as per the netflix engsubs, but it’s not my personal preference — the connotations and intent between “da mutou” and “Big Blockhead” feel very different to me. (i.e., if you’re writing dialogue in a fic, i would recommend Da Mutou over Big Blockhead.) Xiao Lanhua calls him this, saying that it sounds a bit less serious than other, more formal forms of address for him.
东方强 Dōngfāng Qiáng, 大强 Dà Qiáng: the name and familiar nickname Xiao Lanhua calls him in the early days before she knew his identity, after she misheard him saying his actual name; 大 (dà) = big, 强 (qiáng) = strong, powerful
本座 běnzuò: a term used to refer to oneself, like “i/me,” but specifically if that person is very high-ranking; your average person wouldn’t use this word. (the usual word for i/me is 我 wǒ. near the end of the show Dongfang Qingcang transitions to using 我 wǒ with Xiao Lanhua — it’s a notable switch that gets lost in translation! similarly, he also makes the switch during his heated tirade at his father in ep. 18, and switches back to his usual 本座 (běnzuò) after he momentarily collects himself. i could be wrong, but i think he drops the 本座 (běnzuò) when less formality or authority is required or desired, like when Things Get Personal, or when he’s stepping out of his role as Moon Supreme, so to speak.)
尊上 zūnshàng: “my lord,” by far the most common term used to address and refer to Dongfang Qingcang by a majority of characters who aren’t his enemy. also part of the phrase often used to formally greet Dongfang Qingcang, “拜见尊上!” (bàijiàn zūnshàng) “Greetings, my lord!”
月尊 yuèzūn: Moon Supreme, used to refer to Dongfang Qingcang or this position (as in the throne, the seat of the Moon Supreme, the name of this Job) respectfully
月尊大人 yuèzūn dàren: Moon Supreme Lord (netflix); 大人 (dàren) is a title of respect towards one’s superior. this title is often used to address Dongfang Qingcang directly. Xiao Lanhua uses it regularly when she is being kept in the Moon Palace, both in private conversation and in serious public settings. (as the show goes on, she switches to 大木头 (dà mùtóu) in their more private, casual conversations but maintains 月尊大人 (yuèzūn dàren) in situations that warrant greater respect and formality.)
魔尊 mózūn: devil king, demon king; used in the book to address him at times (by Lady Chidi for instance, who in the show calls him 月尊 (yuèzūn), Moon Supreme; were they trying to avoid the word 魔 mó in the show or something, i don’t know)
儿子 érzi, 孩子 háizi: “son/my son” and “child/my child,” respectively. used briefly by Dongfang Qingcang’s father to address his son directly. the other times, he calls him Qingcang.
兄尊 xiōngzūn: a specific form of “brother”; the word that Xunfeng uses to address and refer to Dongfang Qingcang. 兄 (xiōng) = older brother (i.e., only a younger sibling would use this term), 尊 (zūn) = a respectful honorific often appended to these titles, usually signifying high, venerated status. 尊 (zūn) comes up a lot :)
for those who are curious about the reverse: Dongfang Qingcang usually addresses Xunfeng by name. when Dongfang Qingcang refers to Xunfeng with a familial term in ep. 2, he says “我那弟弟,” my younger brother (possibly translated as “that younger brother of mine”). for “younger brother” he uses 弟弟 dìdi, there’s no 尊 (zūn) or other honorific — probably because his younger brother is lower than him in status, so there is no need for an honorific. (it’s also interesting to see that he dropped the 本座 (běnzuò) for this line and used 我 (wǒ), but i’m not sure yet if this implies anything, if it might be a mistake, or if it just sounds more natural. in ep. 10, Dongfang Qingcang calls Xunfeng “本座的同胞弟弟,” “my younger brother (borne of the same parents),” where he does use běnzuò to refer to himself, but this line is a bit sarcastic in tone.)
both Dongfang Qingcang and Xunfeng refer to and address their father with 父尊 fùzūn, which is father + honorific, similar to 兄尊 (xiōngzūn). others usually call their father the previous/former/old Moon Supreme, 老月尊 lǎo yuèzūn. (extra note: Dongfang Qingcang doesn’t use 父尊 (fūzūn) in every case where he is referring to his father — on a rare few occasions he uses the more generic term 父亲 (fùqīn) — but based on my Research and consulting a few people with better chinese than me, this may be because of the way the word “father” is used in the sentence. more of a grammar/syntax thing than something significant to the plot or his character.)
a neat thing that happened in ep. 21, around timestamp 38:15: Dongfang Qingcang accidentally uses 父尊 (fùzūn) when talking about his father to Xiao Run in the mortal realm, which might have implied to Xiao Run that his father is of very high, emperor-like status (very sus, for an undercover agent); however, he catches himself, and switches to 父亲 fùqīn, which is the more common term for “father.” in the engsubs it just looks like he’s stuttering over the word “father.” 父亲 (fùqīn) is also used in modern day to refer to one’s father, but it’s a bit formal and usually used in conversation with other people or in writing; you wouldn’t use this term to address your dad directly, that’s 爸爸 bàba. in case any modern AU fic writers were wondering ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
少尊 shàozūn: Young Lord. used to address Dongfang Qingcang when he was a boy, when his father was still the Moon Supreme.
属下 shǔxià: subordinate. used to refer to himself (in 3rd person) when speaking to Xiyun, when he was acting as her servant after her rebirth. (this term is also used by Shangque with Dongfang Qingcang.)
小仙 xiǎoxiān: lit. little immortal, perhaps translated as low/lower immortal. this isn’t so much a title as a description of his position, when he is pretending to be from Shuiyuntian in front of Xiyun. this scene helped me understand how the word 仙 (xiān) works, actually. Dongfang Qingcang called himself a 小仙 (xiǎoxiān) of Shuiyuntian, to which Xiyun later said, “你身上没有仙气。根本不是仙族。” netflix engsubs wrote, “You have no immortal aura on you. You are not immortal.” and then i thought to myself, but he is immortal though, isn’t he? but 仙 (xiān), meaning “immortal” or “celestial being,” refers more to the race of people in Shuiyuntian rather than the state of immortality. immortal the noun, not immortal the adjective. Xiyun isn’t saying, “you are not an undying entity,” (because he is); what she really means is, “you are not of the fairy realm/tribe.” 仙族 (xiānzú), the term she uses in this sentence, means fairy tribe or immortal realm, referring to Shuiyuntian.
东方员外 Dōngfāng yuánwài: translated as “Mr. Dongfang” by netflix. this is the mortal title Jieli assigned to him, and how he is usually addressed during the mortal realm arc. 员外 (yuáiwài) is an old word meaning “counselor” or “landlord.” Jieli intended for him to be a wealthy businessman. when he is just addressed as 员外 (yuánwài), it is translated to “sir.”
东方兄 Dōngfāng-xiōng: 兄 (xiōng) refers to one’s older brother; this is a familiar term Xiao Run uses to address Dongfang Qingcang when they become Bros™
内兄 (nèixiōng): brother-in-law, wife’s elder brother. Xiao Run calls Dongfang Qingcang this, after Jieli announces that Xiao Lanhua is Dongfang Qingcang’s sister.
郎君 lángjūn: translated by netflix as “young man” and “sir.” it is also an archaic form of addressing one’s husband, and could refer to the playboy of a rich family. however, i think in this show it is a respectful form of address, possibly directed at the head of a household unit (Xiao Run’s father and occasionally Xiao Run himself are referred to with the same term). i’m unsure though.
小兰花 Xiǎo Lánhuā (Orchid)
character breakdown: 小 (xiǎo) = little/small, but commonly used in front of names and nicknames for ... reasons i am too lazy to explain here, but other people have definitely written about it if you’d like to look it up. 兰花 (lánhuā) = orchid.
小花妖 Xiǎo Huāyāo: lit. little flower demon, little flower monster; the name that Dongfang Qingcang initially calls Xiao Lanhua, when he still doesn’t like her. netflix subs say “little flower spirit,” but to me this phrase loses a bit of the evil/demon/monster connotation — i feel like Xiao Huayao is not meant to be particularly respectful or polite :’) interestingly, i noticed in ep. 10 that Shangque calls her 小花妖 (Xiǎo Huāyāo) to her face, perhaps because she was annoying him, but he calls her Xiao Lanhua (Orchid) in his private conversation with Dongfang Qingcang shortly after. forms of address really have so many potential implications…
兰花仙子 Lánhuā xiānzi: Fairy Orchid; she is sometimes addressed as just 仙子 (xiānzi), “fairy,” including in situations where her name is not known by the speaker
仙族女人 Xiānzú nǚrén: Fairy Tribe woman (used by some Moon Tribe people to address her in third person, not when speaking to her directly)
月主 yuèzhǔ: translated as Moon Queen; zhǔ on its own means host, owner, or master. this is how people of the Moon Tribe address Xiao Lanhua after she undergoes her trip to Non-Abidance Cave to marry Dongfang Qingcang.
息芸 Xīyún: her name as the goddess. 息 (xī) = breath, or to cease/stop/rest; 芸 (yún) mainly refers to the plant Ruta graveolens, the common rue, as far as i can tell
息山神女 Xīshān shénnǚ: Goddess of Xishan; 山 (shān) = mountain
息兰(族的)神女 Xīlán (zú de) shénnǚ: Xilan Goddess (without parentheses) or Goddess of the Xilan Tribe (with parentheses, used by Xiao Lanhua at one point to refer to herself). Goddess of Xishan is the more common title, compared to Xilan Goddess, but both have been used.
breakdown of previous: 息兰 (xīlán) = the name of the tribe, containing the words for “breath” and “orchid”; 族 (zú) = the word for tribe, clan, race, nationality, ethnicity, etc.; 的 (de) is a possessive particle; 神女 (shénnǚ) = goddess (lit. god-woman; it’s also slang for “prostitute” but that doesn’t come up in this show)
故人 gùrén: old friend (literary); how the Xuanwu god addresses Xiao Lanhua/Xiyun. (this word is also used to refer to the deceased/departed, but not in this context.)
when referring to Xiao Lanhua’s plant form, people in the show use (小) 兰花草, (xiǎo) lánhuā cǎo. 草 (cǎo) = grass. it means (little) orchid plant. not every mention includes the “little.”
her familial relationship to Xunfeng: in ep. 28 Dongfang Qingcang says, “If you still regard me as your brother, then she is your sister-in-law.” 她就是你的阿嫂。阿嫂 (ā-sǎo) is an archaic term for sister-in-law, specifically for one’s older brother’s wife. if Dongfang Qingcang and Xiao Lanhua were married, Xunfeng might call her this, but this never happens in the show. Xie Wanqing, similarly, also refers to Xiao Lanhua as her future 阿嫂 (ā-sǎo). in a modern AU, Xunfeng would call his sister-in-law either 嫂子 (sǎozi) or 大嫂 (dàsǎo). my mom is a native speaker and says the latter is more likely. it refers to the oldest brother’s wife, the “big” sister-in-law, even if she is younger than the speaker.
on that note, the word for “wife” is 子 (qīzi), and it’s sometimes used in the show when referring to Xiao Lanhua per her relationship to Dongfang Qingcang. Dongfang Qingcang himself often uses 月主 (yuèzhǔ), Moon Queen, in lieu of “wife.” a couple exceptions: when he’s pretending Xiao Lanhua is his wife to trick Xiao Run, the word he uses for “wife” is 内子 (nèizǐ). when he’s speaking to Changheng in his dream state, he does use 妻子 (qīzi) to refer to her as his wife.
兰花娘子 Lánhuā niángzǐ: Lady Orchid. commonly used to address Xiao Lanhua in the mortal realm. 娘子 (niángzǐ) is a polite form of address for a young woman, at least in Ye Olde Days™; it can also be used to address one’s wife, which Dongfang Qingcang does when he’s pretending that Xiao Lanhua is his wife to trick Xiao Run. there, 娘子 (niángzǐ) is translated as “honey.”
女侠 nǚxiá: heroine, lit. woman-hero; 侠 (xiá) can mean chivalrous, brave, heroic. this is how Xiao Run calls her when he first meets her, thinking she’s The One.
画中仙 (子) huàzhōng xiān(zi): fairy in the painting. Xiao Run calls her this early on after meeting her, and whenever he refers to the fairy in his dreams.
月尊副将 觞阙 Yuèzūn fùjiàng Shāngquè (Moon Supreme’s lieutenant, Shangque)
character breakdown: 副将 (fùjiāng) = deputy general, translated by netflix as “lieutenant.” 觞 (shāng) = a wine cup or goblet, or to propose a toast. 阙 (què) = an archaic term for the watchtowers on either side of an (imperial) palace gate.
Dongfang Qingcang, Xiao Lanhua (later), and Xunfeng address Shangque by just his name. Jieli later refers to Shangque by name but addresses him with “stupid black dragon,” usually.
黑龙大哥 hēilóng dàgē: lit. black dragon big brother, translated by netflix as just “Black Dragon.” used by Xiao Lanhua and Jieli to address Shangque, at least in the earlier stages of knowing him — Xiao Lanhua eventually just calls him Shangque, and Jieli switches to “stupid black dragon.” 黑龙大哥 (hēilóng dàgē) is still a respectful form of address, but the appended 大哥 (dàgē) gives a bit of familiarity to it that i feel like “Black Dragon” alone doesn’t quite convey. (Jieli calls him this name as soon as she meets him. my guess is that she is trying to sound close to him, as a ploy to appeal to familiarity in order to persuade him not to throw her in prison.)
觞阙哥哥 Shāngquè gēge: Jieli calls him this at least once in the show, when she’s trying to be cute and wheedle a favor out of him.
觞阙大人 Shāngquè dàren: Lord Shangque (大人 (dàren) is a title of respect toward one’s superior). palace staff address Shangque with this.
蠢黑龙 chǔn hēilóng: stupid black dragon. this is the affectionate insult Jieli uses to address Shangque. 蠢 (chǔn) means stupid, foolish, clumsy, or dull.
属下 shǔxià: subordinate. used by Shangque to refer to himself (in third person) when speaking to Dongfang Qingcang.
将军 jiāngjūn: general. the palace doctor calls Shangque this. it’s odd to me because Shangque was first introduced as “deputy general/lieutenant” — i’m not sure which is more accurate for the name of his position. unless Shangque got a mid-show promotion when i wasn’t looking.
结黎 Jiēlí
character breakdown: 结 (jiē) = (of a plant) to produce fruit; alt. pronunciation jié means to tie, knot, connect, bind. 黎 (lí) = many, multitude; (literary) black, dark; a surname; the Li ethnic group.
掌柜的 zhǎngguìde: shopkeeper, manager of a store. netflix translated this as “Miss” when the delivery man addresses Jieli in ep. 2.
长珩战神 Chánghéng zhànshén (God of War, Changheng)
character breakdown: 长 (cháng) = long or length; always, forever, constantly (not to be confused with zhǎng, an alternate pronunciation of the same character, with a different meaning). 珩 (héng) = an archaic term for the “top gem of a girdle-pendant (as worn by aristocrats and high officials)” (thank you, Pleco). 战 (zhàn) = war, battle, fight. 神 (shén) = god, immortal. 战神 (zhànshén) is his God of War title, and Lady Chidi’s as well.
长珩仙君 Chánghéng xiānjūn: Lord Changheng. fairies call him this, and he is often directly addressed just as 仙君 (xiānjūn) mid-conversation. 仙君 (xiānjūn) lit. means immortal ruler, as a title it’s usually translated to “Lord/my lord” or similar.
Supreme Liyuan and Master Sansheng call him 长珩战神 (Chánghéng zhànshén), in the first episode.
罪仙长珩 zuìxiān Chánghéng: immortal criminal Changheng :(
萧润 Xiāo Rùn: Changheng’s name in the mortal realm arc. 萧 (xiāo) is a surname, and a word that means miserable, desolate, or dreary. 润 (rùn) means moist, sleek; to embellish or enhance; or profit, remuneration.
润郎 Rùn-láng: the friendly name by which Qu Shui addresses Xiao Run, and by which Dongfang Qingcang also addresses Xiao Run when they are being Bros™. (however, when referring to Xiao Run privately, Dongfang Qingcang just calls him Xiao Run.)
萧家二郎 Xiāojiā èrláng: translated by netflix as Mr. Xiao, used to refer to Xiao Run when his gifts were formally presented to Lady Wanqing. i might translate this as “the second child/son of the Xiao family,” but to be honest, the definitions i’ve found for 郎 (láng) are a little hazy to me. i could be wrong. but Xiao Run does have an older brother, who is referred to as 萧家大郎 (Xiāojiā dàláng), which i would translate as “the eldest young master of the Xiao family.” Xiao Run’s father, similar to Dongfang Qingcang, is referring to as 萧家郎君 (Xiāojiā lángjūn), which is translated to “Master,” presumably as the head of house.
萧家郎君 Xiāojiā lángjūn: and on that note, Xiao Run is also addressed as 郎君 (lángjūn)! not often, but on at least a couple occasions, such as by Lady Wanqing and Xiao Lanhua. this form of address is still translated by netflix as Mr. Xiao. again, in other situations Xiao Run is referred to as 二郎 (èrláng), and his father is referred to as 郎君 (lángjūn). i honestly don’t know how the word 郎 (láng) works at this point.
萧公子 Xiāo-gōngzi: also translated as Mr. Xiao. could also be “Young Master Xiao.” used to address him directly.
丹音仙子 Dānyīn xiānzi (Fairy Danyin)
character breakdown: 丹 (dān) = cinnabar, red, powder. 音 (yīn) = sound, musical note, tone, noise.
曲水 Qū Shuǐ: Danyin’s name in the mortal realm arc. 曲 (qū) is a surname, and a word that means bend/to bend. 水 (shuǐ) = water.
蛐蛐儿 Qūqu-ér/Qūqur: it means Cricket, and it contains a homonym for the first character of Qu Shui’s name. this is Xiao Run’s familiar nickname for Qu Shui.
容昊仙君 Rónghào xiānjūn (Lord Ronghao)
character breakdown: 容 (róng) = to hold, contain, allow, tolerate; appearance, look, or countenance. 昊 (hào) = vast, limitless; the vast sky. interesting potential interpretations for his name! (both also happen to be surnames on their own.)
仙君 xiānjūn: Lord, my Lord, in his case. this is how the fairies address him.
阿昊 Ā-Hào: what Lady Chidi calls him. 阿 (ā) is placed as a prefix before monosyllabic names or kinship terms to indicate familiarity; this form of address shows that Lady Chidi is close with her apprentice.
海市主 Hǎishì zhǔ: Lord of Haishi; same 主 (zhǔ) as in 月主 (yuèzhǔ), Moon Queen, meaning “host” or “master”
主上 zhǔshàng: Lord, my lord, the lord. this is how he is addressed and referred to in his Lord of Haishi persona, such as by Dieyi and other Haishi underlings.
海市 (Hǎishì) is made up of the words for “sea/ocean” and “city”; together, they mean “mirage.”
also the 昊 (hào) in 容昊 (Rónghào) is the same as the 昊 (hào) in Haotian Tower, where Dongfang Qingcang was imprisoned. 昊天塔 (Hàotiāntǎ). “the vast, limitless sky” would be my translation of Haotian.
战神 赤地女子 zhànshén Chìdì nǚzǐ (God of War, Lady Chidi)
character breakdown: 赤地 (chìdì) = barren land. there’s an idiom that goes 赤地千里 (chìdì qiānlǐ), meaning “a thousand li of barren land — a scene of utter desolation (after a drought or insect plague)” (copied from Pleco). this definition reminds me of the Xuanxu Realm. hmm … thoughts for later. anyway, 女子 (nǚzǐ) = woman, female.
i’ve seen some translations of her name as “Chidi Woman” but i much prefer “Lady Chidi”
师父 shīfu: Master. this is how Ronghao addresses her (same as Xiao Lanhua towards Master Arbiter Siming).
谢惋卿 Xiè Wǎnqīng: Lady Chidi’s name during the mortal realm arc. 谢 (xiè) is a surname, and also means “to thank,” or sometimes “to apologize.” 惋 (wǎn) is a sigh, or to heave a sigh. 卿 (qīng) has several archaic meanings: high-ranking official, term of endearment between spouses, term used by the emperor for his subjects, or an honorific. (oh, where would i be without my dictionaries…)
惋卿娘子 Wǎnqīng niángzǐ: Lady Wanqing, commonly used to address Xie Wanqing in the mortal realm. when she is addressed as 娘子 (niángzǐ) alone, it is translated as “my lady.” (again: 娘子 (niángzǐ) is a polite form of address for a young woman, at least in Ye Olde Days™; it can also be used to address one’s wife, but that isn’t usually its purpose in this show.)
月族首领 巽风 Yuèzú shǒulǐng Xùnfēng (Moon Tribe Chief, Xunfeng)
character breakdown: 巽 (xùn) = to obey; one of the Eight Trigrams 八卦, symbolizing wood and wind; ☴; ancient Chinese compass point: 135° (southeast) (this definition copied directly from MDBG because all these definitions seem cool). 风 (fēng) = wind
巽风殿下 Xùnfēng diànxià: 殿下 (diànxià) is an honorific, usually meaning “Your Majesty” or “Your Highness”; Xùnfēng diànxià basically means “Your Highness Xunfeng.” he is sometimes addressed as “dianxia” alone, it’s not always Xunfeng dianxia.
to clear up possible confusion: Xunfeng is introduced in ep. 10 with the title card “Moon Tribe Chief,” per the netflix engsubs: 月族首领 (Yuèzú shǒulǐng), Moon Tribe leader/head/chief. this occurs after Dongfang Qingcang is reinstated as Moon Supreme, but in ep. 2 and ep. 10 it was mentioned that Xunfeng was made Moon Supreme (月尊 yuèzūn) upon Dongfang Qingcang’s presumed death 30,000 years earlier. nobody in the show, as far as i’ve noticed, calls or refers to Xunfeng as 首领 (shǒulǐng). the kings of the North and South are also introduced with the title 首领 (shǒulǐng), while we’re on the subject.
Dongfang Qingcang and Xiao Lanhua call him Xunfeng; Shangque and most other people call him 巽风殿下 (Xùnfēng diànxià) or just 殿下 (diànxià).
random note: if you’re like me and some of my friends who have watched this show after watching or reading Tian Guan Ci Fu/Heaven Official’s Blessing, it might seem like 殿下 (diànxià) is a term specific to the prince or crown prince-type figure. turns out, that’s not exactly the case. Xie Lian’s title, 太子殿下 tàizǐ diànxià, marks him as the crown prince. 太子 (tàizǐ) = crown prince. but Xunfeng doesn’t have this title, he’s just Your Highness, 殿下. anyway, this was kinda like that one twitter meme for me. “guy who has only seen tgcf watching any other chinese drama with a prince in it: so when are they gonna call him taizi dianxia?”
another note: it seems to be somewhat common practice on tumblr to refer to his character as Dongfang Xunfeng, but i should mention that nowhere in the show does anyone append Dongfang to his name. for several reasons (see my reblog), i don’t believe Xunfeng has a last name, and i don’t think Dongfang operates like one. it’s likely that Dongfang Qingcang is just the guy’s name, and Xunfeng is just another guy’s name, and that the two brothers don’t necessarily have a family name. BUT, i will say, if you’re looking to bequeath a last name to a modern AU Xunfeng, Dongfang probably works. “Dongfang” is an actual last name, in other contexts.
水云天 帝君 云中君 Shuǐyúntiān dìjūn Yúnzhōng-jūn (Shuiyuntian Emperor, Lord Yunzhong)
character breakdown: 水云天 (Shuǐyúntiān) = lit. water, clouds, sky/heavens. 帝君 (dìjūn) = emperor. 云 (yún) = cloud, 中 (zhōng) = middle, amidst, among; i might translate the meaning of his name as Amidst the Clouds.
云中君 Yúnzhōng-jūn: Lord Yunzhong. this is his usual title when people refer to him.
君上 jūnshàng: my lord. used to directly address Yunzhong. (yes, similar to the 尊上 zūnshàng used to directly address Dongfang Qingcang; “jun” and “zun” really abound with this show, but they are different terms. don’t ask me why some characters have jun and others have zun, i only have a vague notion.)
兄君 xiōngjūn: a specific term for “brother,” used by Changheng to address and refer to Yunzhong; again, similar to how Xunfeng addresses + refers to Dongfang Qingcang with 兄尊 (xiōngzūn)
in Changheng’s trial (perhaps a more official setting), Lord Yunzhong refers to his and Changheng’s father as 父神东君 fùshén Dōng-jūn, Lord Dong (lit. father-god Dong-lord) and Changheng’s mother as 母神 mǔshén (lit. mother-god). in other settings, Changheng refers to Lord Dong as 父君 fùjūn, similar to how Dongfang Qingcang and Xunfeng call their father 父尊 fùzūn.
澧沅仙尊 Lǐyuán xiānzūn (Supreme Liyuan)
character breakdown: 澧 (lǐ) = a surname, as well as a river in Hunan Province called Lishui River. 沅 (yuán) = the name of the Yuan River, another river in Guizhou and Hunan. funnily enough, both rivers flow into Dongting Lake. don’t ask me if that means anything significant, though.
仙尊 xiānzūn: Lord or my lord, in his case. similar to 仙君 (xiānjūn).
爹 diē: “father,” as addressed by his daughters. (please, it is not pronounced like the english word “die” … dee + ehh = dyeh, kinda like that)
司命仙君 Sīmìng xiānjūn (Master Arbiter/Lady Arbiter)
character breakdown: 司 (sī) = a department; to manage, take charge of, or attend to; it’s also a surname. 命 (mìng) = life, fate, destiny. so she Manages Fates, basically.
仙君 xiānjūn: Lord/Lady/Master. this word haunts me
司命星君 Sīmìng xīngjūn: also translated to Lady Arbiter, but there’s a new title this time! this is what Changheng and Dongfang Qingcang call her when they pay her a visit, near the end of the show. 星 (xīng) means star, or heavenly body. so this title means that she’s a lady of the heavens, or something similar. i wonder if this is because she was imprisoned and no longer an immortal of Shuiyuntian, where everyone is referred to with the word 仙 (xiān).
师父 shīfu: master (as addressed by Xiao Lanhua; the chinese subs say 师父, it’s a variant of 师傅, also pronounced shīfu)
sometimes addressed as just 司命 (Sīmìng), such as by Shangque and Dongfang Qingcang at the beginning of the show. by the end of the show, Dongfang Qingcang still refers to her as 司命 (Sīmìng) when speaking with Changheng, but addresses her with her title 司命星君 (Sīmìng xīngjūn) when speaking to her directly. Changheng, in contrast, keeps using her title even when she is not present.
上仙 shàngxiān: high immortal. less of a title and more of a description of her position in Shuiyuntian, e.g., “she is a high immortal of Shuiyuntian.”
海市流芳阁主 蝶衣 Hǎishì Liúfāng-gézhǔ Diéyī (Pavilion Master, Dieyi)
character breakdown: 蝶 (dié) = butterfly. 衣 (yī) = clothes, clothing; cover, skin.
阁主 gézhǔ: Pavilion Master. this is how most of the Haishi underlings address Dieyi.
流芳阁 (Liúfānggé) = Liufang Pavilion. the chinese subs use 留 instead of 流 sometimes, but for all these names and titles i default to the title cards written onscreen, not the subtitles.
三生仙君 Sānshēng xiānjūn (Master Sansheng)
character breakdown: 三 (sān) = three, 生 (shēng) = life, birth. in buddhism, 三生 (sānshēng) refers to three lives — past life, present life, and next life.
仙君 xiānjūn: Lord/Lady/Master, pretty much. if you’ve read this far you should kinda get what this means by now, right? and yes, the term is gender neutral, if anyone was wondering. a lot of these titles are.
三生姑姑 Sānshēng gūgu: Aunt Sansheng; the fairies call her this. (姑姑 gūgu refers to one’s paternal aunt, but can also be a familiar term for an aunt-like figure who is not related by blood.)
元龟 玄武 yuán guī Xuánwǔ (the Great Turtle, Xuanwu)
this dude’s got whole wikipedia pages dedicated to him but i’ll try to sum it up
玄武 (Xuánwǔ) literally means Black Warrior, Dark Warrior, or Mysterious Warrior. it is often translated as the Black Tortoise, though the name contains no animal-related words — this is just due to how it’s usually depicted. the Xuanwu is one of the four symbols of the chinese constellations, each being a guardian of one cardinal direction. the Black Tortoise’s usual epithet is 北方玄武 (běifāng Xuánwǔ), the Black Tortoise of the North. the other three are the Azure Dragon of the East (!! Dongfang Qingcang??), the White Tiger of the West, and the Vermillion Bird of the South. each symbol represents seven of the 28 Mansions; the Xuanwu would be the seven mansions of the north sky (or the god of the north sky in Taoism). each symbol is also associated with a season, time of day, and chinese element, but i’ll let you look those up yourself. anyway. tl;dr he’s a cool dude with a lot going on.
上古神灵玄武 shànggǔ shénlíng Xuánwǔ: netflix’s translation is “Great Turtle. Xiao Lanhua calls him this when she first meets him. i might translate this title as “Ancient God Xuanwu” or similar. 上古 (shànggǔ) = distant past, ancient times, remote ages, antiquity. 神灵 (shénlíng) = god, deity, divinity, spirit, spiritual being, supernatural entity. Xiao Lanhua also addresses him by just 神灵 (shénlíng), a moment later. (it’s translated as “God” — no, not that one.)
玄武上神 Xuánwǔ shàngshén: God Xuanwu, as addressed by Xiyun. could perhaps be translated as High God Xuanwu.
元龟 yuánguī: translated by netflix as the Great Turtle. Sansheng refers to him with this term. the place where we see the Xuanwu is called 玄武幻境 (Xuánwǔ huànjìng), which basically means “Xuanwu dreamland.”
凶神太岁 xiōngshén Tàisuì (Evil God Taisui)
character breakdown: 凶神 (xiōngshén) = evil god; demon, fiend, devil. 太岁 (tàisuì) = a deity, the God of the Year, who was believed to change his dwelling on earth annually; also an archaic name for Jupiter, and a nickname for the most powerful man in a locality. (i think in this show he’s just some kind of evil deity named Taisui, not necessarily the God of the Year described in the dictionary.)
乌姑 Wū-gū (Ms. Wu, Dongfang Qingcang’s childhood caretaker who taught him woodcarving and music)
character breakdown: 乌 (wū) is a surname, but it can also mean “crow” or “black/dark.” 姑 (gū) refers to one’s aunt, a father’s sister; here, it is Dongfang Qingcang’s familiar term for her. (same concept as with Aunt Sansheng, although i’m not sure why it’s translated to Ms. Wu instead of Aunt Wu, especially since she seemed to have a very close relationship with Dongfang Qingcang. the singular 姑 (gū) might convey a bit less familiarity or closeness In Olden Times compared to 姑姑 (gūgū), and Dongfang Qingcang as the young lord might have had to maintain that marginal bit of distance for politeness and tradition and royalty reasons, but i could very much be mistaken, or just reading into it more than necessary.)
look, i know she’s not a major character but she was important to ME, ok! so here’s her name. hope someone writes a fic involving her someday.
长渊 Chángyuān (Arbiter’s dragon husband)
character breakdown: 长 (cháng) = long/length; forever, always, constantly. 渊 (yuān) = deep pool; deep; profound.
罪龙长渊 zuìlóng Chángyuān: convicted dragon Changyuan, dragon criminal Changyuan. same 罪 (zuì) as in “immortal criminal,” 罪仙 (zuìxiān).
aaaaaall righty, i am done for now. (it’s been over a week… phew…) again, i’ll update this if i discover new things or receive suggestions. thanks! :D

Seeing the Signs
My fic for @silentteal for the @loftwingletters for the @zelinkcommunity loftwing letter exchange!
.....
Link dropped to one knee with an audible hiss of pain as he defeated the last bokoblin, panting and resting his weight on his sword which was planted firmly in the grass.
No, no no no, Zelda thought, as she sprinted to catch up to him. Hylia, not again. He's hurt again and it's my fault, please don't let him die! The shrine of resurrection is gone, I can't do anything!
“Link,” she cried out, dropping to her knees and sliding the last few feet from the speed of her sprint. “I'm so sorry! Where are you wounded? I'll take care of you.”
Link looked up with a smile, brushing the hair out of his eyes, and Zelda's heart made a weird swooping motion like a Rito aflight.
“Don't worry, Princess,” he signed. “It's just a pulled muscle. I lost my footing in the wet grass and tweaked something in my leg.“
All the tension left Zelda at once, and she wasn't sure whether to laugh or yell at her reckless knight. She settled for saying in a stern, stubborn voice, ”Well any wound can still be dangerous. You will let me tend to it immediately.“
Link laughed, an almost-tinkling, melodic laugh that for some reason always made her think of fairy children deep in a forest. ”Yes, your highness,“ he signed teasingly, and she glared at him.
She set about removing first aid supplies from her backpack. Bandages, cloth made adhesive with chu-chu jelly, a balm made of monster parts that eased inflammation.
She could feel Link's intense blue eyes on her as she applied the balm with a firm but gentle touch. She wasn't sure if the heat she felt in her cheeks was from his sky-blue stare or from the little thrills as her fingers brushed his leg. Strange, the balm didn't have any electric-elemental ingredients to her knowledge - though really, she knew it wasn't that. For some reason, she thought suddenly about the hylian sign lessons that he had given her pre-calamity, the way his fingers had felt like so many fairy wings on hers as he had carefully corrected her signs.
She then took the bandages and adhesive cloths and methodically wrapped the injury to give it support, before finally raising her eyes to meet Link's. To her surprise, he was as red as she was.
The silence hung in the air between them, somehow as fraught as the atmosphere before a storm, yet warm and comfortable as a home.
Zelda realized her hands were still on the completed wrap, and cleared her throat as she hastily removed them. As the silence broke, Link almost looked disappointed, as if he had hoped for her to... say something? Do something?
”You are not to fight any monsters until that muscle is healed, do you understand?“ Zelda said, her words falling over each other in their haste to leave her throat. ”That's what we brought along an additional guard for.“
Link nodded, still giving her that unreadable look. She stood, brushing down the now sodden and grass-stained front of her leggings, and offered him her hand to help him up.
As he stood, she held onto his hand for a minute longer, then abruptly threw her arms around him, clasping the back of his head with one hand and gripping the back of his tunic in the other balled fist. ”I thought I'd lost you again,“ she half-murmured, half-sobbed into the hair above his ear.
Link hesitated, then hugged her back tightly, his arms sturdy and unyielding as the Deku tree itself.
As Zelda finally drew back, the hand that was behind his head lingered, coming to rest in a caress on his cheek. His azure eyes were as warm and bright as a summer afternoon, as he brought up one hand to cup hers. She paused, not wanting the moment to end.
“Do you trust me?” the other hand came up to sign, startling her.
Her eyebrows knit together as she started to pull her hand back. “Of course I do! If this is about asking you to let others fight, I -“
He caught her hand as she pulled it away, interlacing his fingers with hers. The words died in Zelda's mouth as all her breath seemed to desert her.
Link stepped forward, slowly, as if he was trying not to spook a wild horse. One hand came up to alight - trembling almost imperceptibly - on her own cheek, and he closed most of the distance between them. Their faces inches apart, she understood that he was giving her the choice of what to do.
She moved the last few inches, blossoming into a kiss. Oh Hylia, Din Farore and Nayru, this is what she had been wanting. The last of the realization that he had been waiting for her to come to him so that she could be the one to make the choice, after a lifetime of being subject to other people's desires, melted away into the sensation of him. Her whole awareness melted away into soft lips, the smell of sweat and horse lather and leather, the feel of home.
She was brought back to the world around them when a loud noise arose from a little bit away. They both jumped apart, Link sheepishly grinning and rubbing the back of his head, as their guard applauded and cheered (with more than a few wolf-whistles) at them from a rise a couple hundred feet away.
She looked down at their hands, and then interlaced her fingers with her knights’, tracing the line of his arm up to see him gently smiling at her in a way that made her dizzy. She leaned into him, then yelped slightly as he stumbled. Somehow, she'd already forgotten his injury.
Poking him in the ribs, she said “Now you're going to get some rest.” Ducking under his arm, she helped him start limping back to their entourage, as the captain and lieutenant of the guard rode their way leading their horses.
She then recalled a memory she'd long forgotten. Over a century ago, Link had taught her the sign that he had helped introduce when silent princesses were discovered. She blushed as she remembered the other sign she'd had trouble distinguishing it from - “I love you.”
.....
If you have an AO3 and it's okay, I'd love to post in on there as a gift to your account there as well, Teal!

Fairytale Beginning
Pairing: Gepard Landau x reader
Fandom: Honkai: Star Rail
Genre: fluff
A/N: This is part of the Masked Fools' August collab, Fairytale! Check out our other awesome writers there <3
Gepard Landau is so much more than just your fairytale ending.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ever since you were little, you had always wanted to live out a fairy tale.
At first, you wanted to be the knight who slayed the dragon and saved the kingdom. People would cheer and call you their hero, and throw flowers at you- blooms that you had never seen in real life. Then, as you grew up, you wished for a gallant prince to come and save you from the depths of the Underground where the Supreme Guardian had halted transport between the two worlds, trapping the less fortunate down in the dark. Finally, when the blockade had been lifted and the Stellaron banished, you made your way up to the surface, and met the prince you had always wanted.
Gepard’s eyes were deep and honest, and so very blue. The first time you saw him, you had thought to yourself, they’re the color of the sky. It was a comparison that you hadn’t been able to make until that morning, when you emerged from the caverns and saw the azure light above you for the first time. When you spoke to him, he made you forget the darkness that stretched below the surface of the city. He took you to a cafe with flowers in the window and made you smile and laugh and dream for the first time since you stopped wishing to be a knight, and started wishing for a prince.
It seemed too good to be true when you started dating Gepard. How could one man be so kind and wonderful? But as you would come to learn, Gepard wasn’t perfect- he had his quirks like everyone else. He wouldn’t eat meat that was overcooked, and needed his bathwater to be scalding before he even thought about stepping foot in it. He couldn’t grow flowers for the life of him- he had left an entire planter full of ball peonies he was saving for your one-year anniversary in the sun for too long and cried when he saw that they had wilted. And of course, as the captain of the Silvermane Guards, he spent more time on the front lines than he did in your arms, and left you wondering just when you would see him again.
But despite it all, you loved him. You loved him more than the sky and the grass and the flowers you had always dreamed of seeing. So when he got down on one knee in front of the Everwinter Monument and pulled out a sapphire ring, you said yes- and later on, I do.
On the day of your wedding beneath the vast blue sky, hands joined with your lover’s in holy matrimony, you finally realized that Gepard Landau was not your fairytale ending- your lives together were only just beginning.

So in your superhero-soul link-au thingy the skyblings and the seablings are all siblings. So how does that work?
Like are they all avians but also with fins and gills? Do we get moth Pearl or avian Pearl or fish Pearl? Does Lizzie have bird wings? Do they have to keep not being human a secret or are they just open about it? Are they all full siblings or are some half siblings or adopted? Please ive been thinking about this for so long.
WHAT DOES PEARL LOOK LIKE IM DOING AN ART
Firstly, omg omg omg omg OH MY GOD OH MY GOD??? YOU WANT TO DO AN ART?? FOR MY SILLY LITTLE AU?? OH MY GOD :D
Secondly, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE QUESTIONS AGDHLSJDFSDFJ (gives me an excuse/a prompt to rant :D)
I’m so honored.
It gets a little (read: a lot) extensive bc I like to give a lot of background and reasoning for why stuff is the way it is but in case I get rly unclear the direct answers to each question will be at the end.
Grian and Pearl are biological siblings that share both parents (they have two moms, one is trans and one is cis, and they are fantastic parents who are so in love with each other. Both are avian hybrids.) Pearl is one year older than Grian. Their family name is Azure. They don’t have fish traits.
Grian has the traditional parrot red-yellow-blue wings and Pearl has midnight blue wings with gray and white speckles on the bottom half. Idk if they have the ear wings.
Lizzie and Jimmy share a dad, who is a piscine hybrid. (Piscine is basically just the word avian (relating to birds) for fish. Saying fish hybrid sounded significantly less cool so I found this and now they are piscine hybrids. Also it sounds like pool in spanish which. is fine i guess fuck you latin.) The dad’s last name is Marina, because of the relation to fish and the sea and stuff, but it’s also Marina and not Marine because I’m pretty sure I was listening to Oh No! or Seventeen (by Marina) while creating the name.
Jimmy’s mom was human, and Lizzie’s mom is fae. Lizzie is the same age as Grian, and they’re about five years older than Jimmy.
Lizzie has piscine traits (fins, gills along with lungs, ear fins) AND has fae wings and her eyes tend to glow. The piscine is from ESMP1 axolotl and the fae is from the Fairy Fort in LL. Jimmy is supposed to have piscine traits, (cod, courtesy of ESMP1) and he was born with them. However, within the day he was born, the fins and gills started either falling off or self destructing, respectively. He started growing wings (which o7 to the nurses of this imaginary hospital jesus christ) and the ear wings. So within the day he was born, he completely transferred from being a healthy piscine baby to an avian. And due to the yellow downy feathers, Jimmy’s mom knew that he was the canary. (also rip Jimmy’s mom you will be missed o7)
So Jimmy’s mom (Last name Solidarity. Jimmy's last name was supposed to be Solidarity-Marina) was besties with one of the Skybling moms, and she was basically like “hi bestie you have avian kids, right? mhm so essentially my kiddo was a fish and now hes not a fish and he’s a bird and this is a problem because I think he’s the prophecy which means that he’s got a TARGET on his head and I want my son alive. if you guys accept him into your family, it will look significantly less suspicious. also i’m not gonna make it that childbirth took a lot out of me”
negotiations were made between the four adults (jimmy’s mom, seablings’ dad, skyblings’ moms) and jimmy got very subtly adopted before his mom died. (o7, we will miss you)
When Jimmy’s somewhere from two to four, Lizzie (age ~7-9) gets adopted too because her dad is too unstable and he is BARELY keeping it together. Jimmy’s mom was the love of his life (i’m pretty sure lizzie was either the result of a one-night-stand or a mildly brief fling) and he is Not Okay. So it was arranged that Lizzie got adopted by the Azures, which she was thrilled about bc they’re cool as fuck.
(also Lizzie’s mom (Last name Shadow. Lizzie's last name is Shadow-Marina) was Not really prepared for a child. She was not emotionally prepared for the commitment of a child, nor did she actually have a stable paying job. By the time that seablings’ dad gotta go, she’s also not qualified to adopt Lizzie since there’s just a bunch of shit that she’s got going on in her life. But she does hang out with Lizzie monthly throughout her childhood with the Azures, and they still visit occasionally throughout Lizzie’s adulthood. she’s more like the cool aunt than the mom)
When the Azures adopted Lizzie, they had a pool installed in their backyard (the Azures are solid middle class. They can afford a pool bc of hybrid pensions. Hybrid pensions are basically just getting more resources to accommodate for your traits. The Azures have the Avian Mansion Pension, which is just a ginormous house because you gotta have space to stretch your wings. basically enrichment/some basic needs for hybrids)
When the kids started learning magic, specifically shifting magic, they wanted to learn how to shift to be more alike to piscine hybrids. Throughout childhood, Pearl, Grian, and Jimmy all got better at shifting to piscine hybrid traits. This hobby was to help Lizzie feel more included in culture stuff, but also if Jimmy randomly started becoming a fish again, his body wouldn’t have to build something from scratch and it would be less painful and easier to adapt to.
Pearl shifted into a salmon piscine hybrid, Grian to a cod piscine hybrid, and because Jimmy wanted to be like his cool older brother, he also shifted to a cod piscine hybrid.
(shifting is a type of Guise Magic. it’s basically glamor from through the sky blue cracks au or the Mist from PJO/HoO.)
Basically, if you draw her younger, it’s totally plausible to draw Pearl as a fish. and you could technically draw them all with fins and gills.
Lizzie never particularly cared about trying to imitate avian wings since she had her own fae wings.
I haven’t quite decided what the social system does about hybrids. Generally, I’ve been trying to make it so that humans and hybrids literally have the same social status and stuff so technically they’re equal. However, I did also make stuff like avian mansion pensions exist so idk. but they don’t need to hide their hybrid traits in public
SUMMARY BECAUSE THAT WAS REALLY FUCKING LONG LMAO:
Pearl and Grian are full avian hybrids. Jimmy is also an avian, although born piscine. Lizzie is a piscine hybrid. (Piscine is like the word avian (relating to birds) for fish.) Lizzie is the only one with fins. She has gills and also has lungs. When born, Jimmy also had gills and fins, but they dropped off and got replaced with wings and ear wings.
We get avian Pearl, but Pearl, Grian, Jimmy, and Lizzie used to roleplay as fish to practice magic for if/when Jimmy ever returned to being a piscine, and also to make Lizzie feel more included and learn some about her culture.
Lizzie does not have bird wings, but she does have fairy wings.
In this AU, hybrids aren’t treated any different than humans. They’re open about it.
Pearl and Grian are full siblings. Jimmy and Lizzie are half siblings. Jimmy and Lizzie are adopted into Pearl and Grian’s family, although Jimmy thinks he’s biologically related to Pearl & Grian (until he learns he’s not, at some point in the plot).
Hope this was clear and interesting :]

In my NG+2 in Elden Ring, I found myself staring for minutes at Rogier's Bell Bearing, comparing it to that of Sellen, Thops, and Gowry, who are also sorcerers, and their Bell Bearing is made of glintstone, as can be seen in the pictures below.
Tumblr media
Rogier's is gray like that of any other non-wizard/non-sorcerer character in the game, except that, like him, it is afflicted with Death's Blight. Is it able to annihilate the glintstone? Because it is not present on that of the sorcerer, as it is completely grey, with slight reddish spots and a poisonous/deadly halo around it, as can be seen in the image.
Tumblr media
The question that arises spontaneously, provided that the Death Blight doesn't cause any fragment of glintstone to vanish: is Rogier what he says he is? Is he actually a sorcerer? I have a lot of headcanons in my head for him about who he might have been before he became a tarnished, and one of them is that he might be a sort of Orbeck of Vinheim from Dark Souls 3: a man who dreams of becoming a scholar, he manages to learn some sorceries that he uses to fight and protect himself, but without going to the bottom, without becoming a full and complete sorcerer. I imagine him also stealing some battle arts together with some spells. A proof may be his astrologer's staff, which is different from the ones used in Raya Lucaria, which are topped with blue and azure glintstones, or like those used by Rennala, Lusat, and Azur. Unless this doesn't make him, precisely, an astrologer. Still, I don't think Rogier aimed for the stars, maybe he studied them, maybe he was fascinated by them, but he found the glintstone sorceries much more interesting and complex than the mere stars. I know I'm focusing too much on a character who tells us practically nothing about him, about his past, what he actually saw in his travels with D and without D, how he began to feel mercy for Those Who Live in Death and what prompted him to want to investigate the Night of the Black Knives. I know perfectly well that I am advancing airy-fairy hypotheses, without any foundation other than a description that we can read on his clothing and based on his dialogues (which I have listened to several times, also watching Stratek's videos on YouTube).
So, can we say that the Death Blight determines his Bell Bearing, or is it based on his past and what he is that defines it? Of course, the Death Blight was decisive in giving that sphere that halo, that ashen greyness, as if to underline that, by now, nothing remains of the man except the shadow that he was, in short, the calling card of death itself. Unless it underlines what Rogier has now become: no longer a sorcerer, given the lack of the glintstone on the Bell Bearing, but a dead man who still walks, waiting for the inevitable. Deep down, we know that he dies up there, on the balcony, in perfect solitude, just like the life he led.

Starry Skies
—————————————————————————
The cerulean sky was a mesmerizing sight to behold, stretching out as far as the eye could see. The moon remained elusive, its presence shrouded by a thick veil of clouds. The sky appeared as a mystical nebula, with hues of lavender, powder blue, and ivory, swirling together in a mesmerizing dance with the deep blue. The convergence of these colors created an awe-inspiring masterpiece that left anyone spellbound.
Madoka didn't know if she properly caught its excellence in that small paragraph, or if there was a word fitting its greatness. “Beautiful” was too much of an understatement, “breathlessly amazing” seemed more… accurate, even if it wasn't quite fitting.
She sat on a large, grassy hill, which presented a beautiful and breathtaking view of the city below, its energetic lights shining lively if she ever took her eyes away from the sky. But she couldn't. The city was so beautiful, her beloved home where she grew up, but at that moment, the sky was so much more majestic than anything else in the world. It was out of this world after all. Her entire attention was so transfixed on the azure sky that she forgot for a split second that she wasn't alone.
Sitting beside her was another girl, with hair as dark as coal. The color of her eyes was a mesmerizing shade of brilliant amethyst, which sparkled and shone like the facets of a precious gemstone. They were undoubtedly one of the most stunning and captivating features of her face, drawing the attention of anyone who looked upon her. Her hair meanwhile was so silky and long it danced with the wind effortlessly. Its ethereal beauty seemed almost otherworldly, as if it belonged to a fairy tale princess or a mythical goddess. She certainly looked like a princess, her poise and elegance exuded such a feeling. While she was so perfect-looking and so beautiful, what had to take the cake was her smile. Gentle and soft, but it was exceedingly rare, even if it was a small smile it was like a diamond, so rare and yet so beautiful.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Madoka whispered, the wind carrying the words to the girl beside her. Even as she said those words, she never took her eyes away from the sky, still captivated by its glorious magnificence.
“Yes, you are.”
It took a few seconds for Madoka to process those words, and her brows furrowed. Did she just…?
Madoka tore her eyes away from the sky and looked at Homura. The other girl merely smiled at her, a genuine smile that just made Madoka want to melt. Whenever that smile of hers would be shown to her and her only, she’d feel like fainting or squealing in joy. Of course, she never did these, for it would be too embarrassing to act as such. It made her feel so special, and part of her was irritated for even thinking of such a selfish thought, but now wasn’t the time for negativity.
“What…did you say?” Madoka asked hesitantly, staring at Homura with oddly nervous and somewhat hopeful eyes. It was a little-known fact that she had a crush on the black-haired girl, and having those feelings reciprocated would be a miracle, but she believed that to be impossible. Homura was far, far out of her league, it was almost unbelievable that she was even her friend.
Then again, miracles are about the impossible coming possible so she had a chance.
Homura smiled and shook her head. “It’s nothing.” the black-haired girl diverted her attention from Madoka to the starry skies, her relaxed and peaceful smile growing ever-so-slightly as she took in its vastness.
Madoka had recently learned that Homura liked stargazing, even if she didn't do it often anymore. The discovery had been an accident when she caught Homura staring at the skies at night. She saw her doing it, again, and again and so she finally confronted her about it. She was curious as to what her friend liked, the black-haired girl was very reserved and never told anyone about what she liked. Homura ended up admitting to her, and so Madoka came here.
Madoka could see why Homura liked the night sky so much, its beauty was mesmerizing and filled with so many stars. When she first saw it she forgot how to breathe, which was probably why she would call it “a breathless sight”.
“Do you like it?” Homura asked, turning away from the sky and looking straight at Madoka. “I do…” Madoka replied, her voice trailing off at the end as she got spellbound once more. She could never stop looking at this, but the beautiful sky reminded her of Homura for some reason.
Maybe it was because of how dark and mysterious it looked, so similar to Homura. It was also because of how beautiful it was, its magnificent stars shining beautifully in the darkness. The way the moon was hiding also reminded her of Homura, who always kept her feelings beneath a mask of coldness. But when Homura let her guard down, revealing her true self, it was a sight to behold, just like the beauty of the night sky. Madoka found herself filled with unbridled joy whenever Homura revealed her true personality, likes, and dislikes. It was a moment that made her heart leap with happiness.
She wished Homura would show that side more often but for reasons unknown, her friend refused to show it. Every time her mask came off, she’d fix it immediately, leaving everyone to wonder if they had imagined it. However, when she is with Madoka, it takes her longer to put the mask back on, as if she feels more comfortable showing her true self to her. It makes her feel special, but she sometimes feels like thinking that way is too selfish.
Madoka and Homura sat side by side, gazing up at the twinkling stars above. The night was quiet and peaceful, with only the occasional rustling of leaves or chirping of crickets breaking the silence. Well, she assumed Homura was looking at the stars, she couldn't tell where the other girl's gaze was fixed. Still, the simple act of being together in this tranquil moment was enough to bring a sense of calm and contentment to both of them.
A bolt of light suddenly disturbed the calm sky, streaking diagonally across the horizon as if it were falling from the sky. At that moment, Madoka's mind was jolted with recognition, and she realized exactly what it was that she was witnessing.
Madoka leaped up from her seat, causing a gentle breeze to stir around her. “Look, it’s a shooting star!” she squealed, pointing at the sky in excitement. This was her very first time witnessing one, and she couldn’t contain her joy and wonder at the magical sight.
Homura laughed from behind her, causing Madoka’s cheeks to flush with warmth as her heart started beating even faster. It was already beating fast from the excitement of seeing a shooting star, and now it was even faster hearing the other girl’s sweet laugh. She felt very lucky to be experiencing two rare events at the same time - witnessing a shooting star and hearing Homura's laugh.
Homura walked towards her and stood beside her, gazing up at the sky with a smile on her face. Her voice was filled with wonder as she remarked, "You rarely ever see shooting stars nowadays. We must be really lucky tonight, huh?" Madoka couldn't agree more. She was grateful for the opportunity to witness such a beautiful sight and to hear Homura's laughter.
As she turned to face Homura, her own smile beamed with joy, Homura couldn't help but feel that this was even more beautiful and precious than a thousand shooting stars combined. Madoka remembered something and shook Homura’s arm gently. "Oh, we have to make a wish!"
Madoka closed her eyes and clasped her hands together as if in prayer while Homura watched her. After a few moments of silence, Madoka opened her eyes and looked at Homura excitedly. “Did you make a wish?” Homura nodded in response. "What did you wish for?" Madoka asked, barely able to contain her curiosity. Homura's amethyst eyes twinkled with amusement as she giggled softly. "If I told you, it wouldn't come true, now would it?" Madoka couldn't help but whine at that, having forgotten about that part of the deal. “Could you at least give me a hint? Pretty please…?” she pleaded. Homura giggled again, sounding like music to Madoka's ears. "I’m sorry, Madoka, I can't do that. It's against the rules," she replied with a mischievous glint in her eyes. Madoka knew that she couldn't get an answer out of her friend and whined again, feeling a little disappointed.
“Oh, fine.” Madoka conceded with a childish fake pout.
The both of them stared at the stars in silence, before Homura spoke up, “You know, the stars truly are beautiful tonight. It’s kinda hard seeing them in the city, with all the lights.” Madoka hummed in agreement. Living in the city, it was rare to see so many stars clearly. Usually, the lights and sometimes smogs of the city obscured the true beauty of the night sky, leaving nothing but a veil of darkness overhead. But out here, away from the business of the city, the stars shone with such a brilliance that left Madoka feeling small yet awestruck.
Madoka peered at Homura inquisitively, taking her attention off the sky once more. “How did you find out about this place?”
“I…” Homura began, pausing to think about what to say. She was unsure if she could share this detail with someone like Madoka, a person quick to worry. But since Madoka was asking, she had to give her the full answer; Madoka would know if she was lying anyway. “I…explored, for a bit,” she admitted, hesitating a little as she wondered if she chose her words correctly.
Madoka blinked. “You…explored?” she paused a little to think about her answer. But this hill was just a few steps out of the city, so wouldn’t that mean-? “Wait, you went outside the city, by yourself?” she managed to stop herself from shrieking in worry. Homura gazed at her, wondering what to say. “Well…yes, besides, it’s not so far off.”
Madoka decided to calm down. It probably wouldn't do much if she panicked over something that happened…when did she find this place?
“When did you explore?” Madoka asked, looking at Homura curiously. Homura looked at her and then looked to the sky, seemingly pondering the matter. “I guess…when I was 11?”
“I see…” Madoka looked away from her and looked towards the sky to take in its entirety once more. They sat there in silence for a bit, gazing at the stars. After a few minutes, Madoka ended up making small talk to hear Homura’s beautiful voice again, their chatting eventually made them forget about the skies because of how deep they were in conversation. The night was peaceful, and all Madoka could hear was her voice and Homura’s along with the occasional chirping of the crickets and the blowing of the wind.
She didn’t want this night to end.
But alas, everything ends eventually, and so she and Homura end up parting ways after a few hours together.
As she walked home, Madoka couldn't help but feel very happy, as she got to experience so many wonderful things in one night. This night was truly magical, and it was even more magical because Madoka got to spend it with the girl she loved.
She giggled and walked home in delight.

MADOHOMU’S IS IN COMMISSION!!! (Fantasy unlocked MadoHomu!)
I’m back, this time with a MadoHomu fic!! And yes, I used the cliche “lovers stargazing”, simply because I felt like it, LOL. I’ve been writing too much Homu-centric angst and I desperately need a cure, so here it is.
I freaking LOVE MadoHomu, I hope I wrote this well!
Also, don’t expect me to use the vivid imagery a lot, it’s not my strong suit and I absolutely suck at it, LOL.
Anyway, I should publish another Homu-centric angsty one-shot in a few days, maybe.
I really hoped you enjoyed! Also, you can consider this test writing, majority of my one-shots are tests.

Issue 24, 9/27/2023 - The Overseer
Issue Masterpost About the Overseer
A Wedding in the Hermitcitizen Hub!
By Corrundumcat
Wedding bells chime out over the emerald rolling hills of Hermitcraft Season 9 as the Newspaper team and many other individuals come together to celebrate Nes, Alistair, and Roo getting married. There was a flurry of emotions in that chapel, some were understandable like Thorne preparing to crash the wedding photos and break every bone in his body, just for the bit. The sound of chatter was a cheerful murmur which could be heard for kilometers (sorry, Americans) around. The sounds of this wedding drifted through the Autumn evening. The evening’s events kicked off with The Overseer leading the guests into the cathedral and making sure everyone was seated and comfortable. The officiant of the wedding, Mr. Xisumavoid himself, looked slightly nervous. This reporter can only assume that it has been a hot minute since he officiated a citizen wedding. There was a slight wind and chill in the air. It was a brisk 19 degrees celsius outside with a slightly warmer 20 degrees celsius inside the cathedral. Once all of the guests were seated, the announcer Joe Hills themselves stepped up to the Microphone and gave a short Haiku welcoming everyone to the venue. As the Hermitcraft orchestra played the song “Exhale” from Sky Children Of The Light, The entire body of The Overseer minus Roo of course because y’know Roo’s the one getting married. Roo’s dress with a suit jacket was a deep midnight blue. If you looked closely you could see the stars from above glinting ever so slightly. Inside the jacket were the star maps of Hermitcraft as well as a paw print of one of the rats from the office.
As is my understanding the colour theme was blues. So rather monochromatic. As the gaggle of a wedding party glided down the isle coloured light filtering down upon them. Nes and Alistair. Nes wore a stunning white to blue gown which in the coloured light glittered. The dress was like fairy floss with how floofy and puffy it was. Alistair’s suit complimented Nes' dress nicely. The wedding party all wore prismarine blue suits/dresses and carried blue bouquets. Azure walked down the aisle infornt of Nes and Alistair Variety throwing deep blue flowers. As the party walked up to the altar and peeled off to sit in the front row Roo, Nes and Alistair hugged each other.
Next came the vows. They were all heart felt, some more comedic than others.
And then they were married. In this moment of happiness it felt peaceful.
When the wedding party went outside to take photos the wind picked up slightly to add to the atmosphere. The photos turned out great mostly and then there was one which ended up wonderful.
… That was the one that Thorne photobombed. Thorne committed to the bit so much that if it wasn’t as hilarious and that he didn’t immediately respawn that this author would have been writing another obituary.
The newlyweds gave each guest a small flower to keep in their bases.
From the whole office, the server, the watchers, listeners and those in between we wish you three an amazing marriage.

Now onto other news under the cut!
This Week At The Overseer HQ: Decked Out Schemes
By Lydia
After the wedding, the staff of The Overseer returned to their newfound temporary pastime of eagerly watching and making bets on their favorite Hermits’ runs of Decked Out. The betting pool began shortly before the debut of Decked Out, with the staff planning on keeping the scores in shifts so that they would all have time to partake in running the ostentatious obstacle course themselves. While the cats have decided to abstain from participating in the betting pool, the rats leapt at the chance to make their predictions known. The staff has wasted no time at all in their pursuit of both game victories and the bragging rights of predicting the Hermits’ results after each long session.
The Overseer staff’s runs of Decked Out have ranged from dying two minutes into the run to completing several games in a variety of methods, almost all of them involving them trying and failing to break the redstone, hiding in corners, and using sticky tack to attempt to climb the walls and ceilings. Citizens have noted their surprise that the staff has not yet been banned from the game, but the Decked Out Crew has stated that they find the staff “incompetently entertaining,” and “A hilarious display of a freakshow running through a dungeon.” Some staff members took this as a compliment and hatched an idea: charging citizens to watch them run recklessly through the course without a care to be seen. This idea was enthusiastically received with several tomatoes to their faces and boos from their fellow players. Undeterred, the staff continued to play the game with a considerably smaller audience watching them be hurled into the walls by Ravagers and psionically split in half by Wardens.
While the staff has been solely focused on Decked Out for the past few weeks, the rats of The Overseer testing their craftsmanship, creating a collection of Overseer merchandise and attempting to sell it for an exorbitant amount of diamonds to any passing Citizens. A few staff members who have caught wind of this have decided to fully invest in this scheme, adding their own embellishments and claiming that all of their merchandise has magical properties, though this is far from the case, as anyone who can detect magic would be able to tell unwitting citizens. Following suit to those who responded to the attempt to offer paid showings to audiences to watch the staff run Decked Out, those who had realized that the merchandise is not magical in nature took to throwing eggs at the building and staff members who had attempted to dupe them.
Dividing time between the ceaseless entertainment of Decked Out and the book keeping of The Overseer’s paper sales and merchandise has since resulted in an ever-revolving schedule based almost entirely on a Chore Wheel, with all of the recurring weekly article categories, cleaning days, and snack lists written in crayon on construction paper. It would be remiss to overlook the involvement of the rats in this endeavor, as they have been utmostly stringent in keeping the office space in its most polished condition. The staff noted how impressive it is that so many tiny paws could turn a cluttered miniature maze of offices (many without any walls) into a pristine, air-freshened, and perfectly uncluttered structure. The rats are paid handsomely with both diamonds and pizza, though they appear to only care for the guarantee of incoming pizza on a weekly basis.
Although the required volunteering stint at The Office of Unofficial Hermitcraft Documentation has ended for The Overseer staff, a few members of the newspaper had realized that they had taken a liking to working a second day job and had decided to stay, though they were encouraged by those in the office to be aware of their work-life balance and not to spend too much time hunched over their keyboards and creating communication devices. Some of the staff members who chose to take the extra endeavor noted staying because they enjoyed seeing the reactions of new citizens when asked a series of unrelated questions in particular, including but not limited to inquiries about the level of acid one could shoot from their fingertips, the potential reshaping of their wings should the Watchers desire it, whether they believe the Sculk infection will ever be cured, whether they have played that new video game everyone’s been raving about, and what their favorite biome delicacies are. Other staff members who have stayed have noted enjoying the benefits of the near daily doughnut breakfasts and have been stealing all of the extra doughnuts and special drinks to bring back to The Overseer Headquarters.
As the staff reaches the end of its update for this brief view into its members' lives, The Overseer would like to thank all of our readers for continuing to support our newspaper each week. We hope that you have a wonderful time reading our recurring issues and with Decked Out!

Lost and Found
By Lydia
All of the following items have been brought to The Overseer staff’s office for safekeeping until they are claimed. If you recognize one of these items as yours, please visit us to receive your items, or contact us at [email protected]. Lost items will be sent to Twinkly Trash if not picked up after two weeks. Thank you! *Not a real email address.
Item 1: Lost Cats These small gremlins may have escaped a laboratory. They are two Maine Coons that have been shrunken down to the size of two peas. They bite frequently and were found fighting off two rats, becoming the victors. They are in a tupperware terrarium the size of an average drawing tablet with air holes and chopped up cat food.
Item 2: A book of Hermitcraft landmarks This book seems to have been compiled to record materials and the building time spans for all of the large bases of Hermitcraft from Seasons 2 through 7. This book has a teal and green cover with a crude illustration of the Hermitcraft logo on the front.
Item 3: A knitted sweater This sweater says “Eat Your Cake” and has a depiction of a knife cutting a piece of strawberry shortcake with blood coming from it. There are two eyeballs depicted on the top of the piece. The rest of the sweater is a beige color with pastel stitching scattered throughout the base.
Item 4: A collection of old boots These pairs of boots come in all kinds, including working boots, hiking boots, leather boots, stiletto boots, snow boots, dress boots, rain boots, and horse riding boots. They come in an array of colors, including red, orange, blue, brown, black, green, and yellow.
Item 5: A jukebox disc that plays a series of different laughs This disc includes the laughs of hyenas, drunken partygoers, elated musicians, Decked Out Wardens, and of victorious players in MCC. Far from the mere stock laughter played in sitcoms, these laugh tracks sound as if they were recorded and edited in the style of The OKeh Laughing Record, which was recorded in Germany by Beka Records in 1920. Listeners report the disc giving them an eerie but not unpleasant feeling upon listening to it.
Item 6: A class schedule of nonsensical courses This class schedule contains a series of courses that do not appear to be based in any traceable science, arithmetic, literature, or language, nor do they appear to be rooted in any previously established form of Hermitcraft records. No name was found on the class schedule, although it appears to have been printed rather recently. No academic institution was found associated with the schedule, either. The courses include the following:
11:15 The Phainey System of the Brain 12:30 Digestive Studies of Owl Rats 1:15 Lunch 2:30 Rudimentary Math of Insectoid Brains 3:15 Advanced Literature of Imelda’s Pocket Dimension 4:30 Introduction to Helium Language 5:15 Dinner 6:30 Advanced Theatrical Memory Recollection
Item 7: A collection of Overseer Merchandise A collection of sweatshirts, watches, snow globes, sunglasses, socks, and tote bags with The Overseer logo was found in a large shopping bag just outside of Scarland.

feast
blue water, ch. 2: feast summary: His back is slick with sweat and the cool night air finally drifts through the open windows and kisses his skin, softer than he deserves. universe: OoT pairing: Zelda/Link rating: M
read on Ao3
Years later, Link’s drinking hasn’t ceased, and if asked he would insist that the forest follows him, the scent of pine and pepper and fairy magic grabbing ahold of his senses like a choking hand around a throat. He usually passes out afterwards. The barkeeps tolerate it, though--he’s still a dashing hero, surely worthy of his grand portraits in the castle. It must be difficult to hold such burdens.
Malon has never had pity for it, though. Tonight, she throws a wet rag flat on his face with an unceremonious plop and tells him to get your shit together, fairy boy and this is why I don’t visit you since you moved here, but she does help him into bed, pulling the covers up to his chin and setting a cup of water on the spartan nightstand.
In the morning, it’s fresh eggs and sweetbread studded with fruit. Malon looks beautiful, dressed in a green skirt and a silk scarf around her neck. She only dresses so fine when she is heading to the palace. The damp scent of the woods joins them at breakfast-- it’s so different from the cloying smell of a courtyard in the spring, and he’ll never escape this, will he?
~~~
The royal brats always like Link’s presence, running up to him when he joins them for a meal, curious eyes watching as he runs routines with the soldiers in the training yard. The eldest, already looking as though she will become a great beauty, watches him with a particular intensity, not with a shyness like so many girls her age. It is disconcertingly like her mother’s azure gaze and holds nothing of her father’s soft brown. Link imagines it is what Zelda might have looked like if it had been as it was supposed--standing on the parapets of the old castle as a girl of twelve, disheveled piles of weapons far beneath her feet as soldiers sparred to impress. The flow of time is cruel, indeed.
Dinner brings fine platters of soups and roasted meats and sumptuous cheeses flanked with molds of sparkling jellies, along with trays of breads and buttery vegetables. It is not a quiet affair, the royal children bickering and stumbling over their words to tell the Hero about their newest lessons and adventures, even as the eldest princess’ eyes bounce between her mother and Link with a gleam that he does not like. Their father is off on some diplomatic mission and it is not lost on Link that Zelda has little to say. It’s well into the meal when their eyes finally meet, her lids heavier than they had any right to be yet, and as he sips from another glass of Lon Lon’s Premier Milk, so drenched with vanilla-bean it was floral and deep, he wonders what he will feel more this time tomorrow-- the weight of her body on his, or the absence of it.
~~~
It’s so dark in the study, the kind of darkness that desires a cool wind instead of something so hot and stuffy. Sweat drips beneath her skirts. Link traces his tongue up her legs through the path of it and Zelda mewls above. She tastes like salt and vanilla soap and his lips attack the pearl between her legs with fervor. He hikes the fabric up until it bunches around her waist and nearly throws her onto the desk ...until a foot kicks against his shoulder and he stumbles back.
Her glinting eyes are blue and red ice. He groans.
“Fuck, Zelda, another one?” He buries back onto her again, though--gentler this time, even as daggers push into his chest.
Later, when they are done:
“You had a choice, you know.”
Link rolls over on his back and looks away. His back is slick with sweat and the cool night air finally drifts through the open windows and kisses his skin, softer than he deserves.
~~~
Tap tap tap tap tap
The eldest princess stares up at Link in the dark corridor. She was looking for him, he can already tell, and he crosses his arms instinctively. Golden candlelight flickers across her face as she lifts her chin to speak.
“What are you doing with my mother?” Except Link can tell that she knows--his limbs feel suddenly heavy, as though he’d climbed a thousand mountain peaks.
“You should be in bed, Princess.”
“You should be at the Lake. Away from here.” He hates her steely gaze. There really is nothing of the prince there.
I was wondering why Cure Sky’s design felt a little familiar, and it was only when someone joked that she was a Snow Miku that I realized…
Her hairstyle being pigtails and having a gradient from blue to pink kind of reminds me of Yan Keke, from Balala the Fairies: Magic Star Fate Castle. 😆
I mean, they’ve got the gradient from blue to pink in the hair, the pigtails, the straight bangs (that even vary in style across the whole shape), the things on the top of the head (wings vs cat ears), the bared shoulders even with sleeves, the yellow/gold heels on their boots, the bow(s) at the waist, the heart on their collar accessory…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is also the fact that this is the first time we’re getting a leader that’s not a pink Cure (or isn’t equated to pink, the way Cure Black sometimes is)—and is also a blue Cure. Balala the Fairies has been known for having non-pink leaders before, as seen with the yellow lead Shirley (Xiao Lan)’s prominence in the early seasons up to Finding Melody, but also with Azure (Na Xiya), who was the blue lead in Ocean Magic.
Don’t get me wrong though!! Even if I find the parallels amusing, I’m not dunking on Precure or anything lol. I’ve just personally found it fun how the latest Precure seasons constantly have reminded me of Balala the Fairies in some way, which is just like…a little fun detail I enjoy as a fan of both ahaha.
For example, Tropical Rouge Precure does vaguely remind me of Balala the Fairies: Ocean Magic, if only because their themes are both island-esque. I guess the different coloured strips of hair (and gradients) and the purposefully multi-coloured eyes—with Ocean Magic featuring stars while Tropical Rouge features hearts in the eyes—also help make the parallel a bit more evident, although the designs aren’t necessarily that similar overall.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course Healin’ Good Precure’s Cure Sparkle is actually quite similar to Amy (Yin Xiaomin) from Balala the Fairies: Over the Rainbow…and this similarity does have me raising an eyebrow more, if only because the coincidences in design here are way more obvious. 😂
I know a lot of people joked about Precure taking design ideas from Balala back then, which is a fun turnaround considering Balala’s first few seasons started by being inspired by magical girls shows (and specifically Precure) lol.
Tumblr media
I actually did wonder if Precure was—as some anime recently have—focusing a bit on the Chinese market, what with Cure Yum-Yum’s introduction, which is obviously Chinese-themed. I mean, it does make sense to introduce a Chinese-themed Cure for the season about food, although I did find it kind of funny since Cure Precious is Japanese-themed, Cure Yum-Yum is Chinese-themed, and then I guess…Cure Spicy is western-themed because…bread? It makes her category feel a little more underrepresented though ahaha.
I actually really like Cure Yum-Yum’s design despite my slight griping about her falling into many of the Japanese anime tropes about what makes an outfit/character visibly Chinese (the hair ornament-like buns that are reminiscent of buns, the qipao-inspired dress, and…well, it’s not in Cure Yum-Yum’s design but is in her family’s restaurant: the excessive amounts of pandas). At least they didn’t pull a Shaman King and slap a panda right on her chest slfjskdjs.
Tumblr media
Despite containing a visible reference to China, Delicious Party Precure’s designs don’t remind me as much of Balala the Fairies… Although if I had to force a parallel, maybe I’d draw one with Finding Melody? I think it’s just because Cure Precious’ pigtails along with the rest of her hair being down reminds me of Michelle Lin (Lin Meixue), the pink character for that season…plus the big heart being in the centre of the bow tie at their chest, along with some of the ruffles on their sleeves and skirt, and even with their flower-shaped hair accessories holding the pigtails in place along with a headband, and finally with their skirt’s shape opening to reveal an underskirt. 😆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Final note though: I make these comparisons all in good fun! Especially since magical girl designs will obviously cycle through similar design choices and elements and tropes, so don’t think of this as a diss. I like both series and as an overall donghua fan I can’t help but insert my fascination with donghua wherever I go, and I haven’t been able to help making such parallels since the Cure Sparkle comparison to Amy (Yin Xiaomin) all those years ago ahaha.
Anyway, I’m actually quite excited for Hirogaru Sky Precure!! I haven’t posted about Precure in quite some time (not since Hugtto), but I do enjoy the fandom from the periphery now and I get hyped for every season’s new designs. I was especially hooked by Cure Yum-Yum’s design for Delicious Party, although I did hear that that season was rather lacklustre, so I look forward to Hirogaru, since it seems like they’re pulling out all the stops for the series’ 20th anniversary. 👀
I mean, after all these years of asking, we’re finally getting a boy Cure!! I do still think Rio and Henri were kind of robbed of that chance in Kirakira and Hugtto respectively, although I understand the need for baby steps. But seriously, Rio would have worked so well as Cure Waffle…
And hey, at least this means we’ll see Cure Wing get a proper transformation sequence!! To bring this post back since I got sidetracked here, this kind of reminds me of my excitement over Prince Noah (Youle-wangzi) from Balala the Fairies: Finding Melody, who also got his own transformation sequence!
I guess even Cure Butterfly’s role as the older one in the group (being the first Cure to be 18—although I do agree she seems younger than the previously established 17-year-old Cures) can be considered reminiscent of Shirley (Xiao Lan)’s role as the older member of the Balala the Fairies team for multiple seasons, since she’s 19-years-old—physically anyway, as it is hinted she and Noah (Youle) could be actually around 100.
Tumblr media
^ (Bonus Note: The above shot is still my favourite [from the Finding Melody OP] because like…all they did was touch hands while grabbing popcorn but then they react like this… It still cracks me up that Noah (Youle) is drawn “like a shy girl” here bwahaha. But yeah, he and Shirley (Xiao Lan) did make for a cute ship. ^^)
Alright, to wrap this up, here’s to a new good season of Precure! I’m looking forward to it~ And of course, a happy 20th anniversary to these badass girls (and now one boy)! 🥂
My personnal opinion about the two last polls :
Hi everyone ! I told you that I will post it so here it is :
Geordo and Catarina :
To me, they look like a couple from a fairy tale, maybe because of Geordo's nature and their apparances (blonde hair and blue eyes and brown hair and azure eyes). When I was a little girl I always asked myself about what happens after the "they live happily ever after". I think they are a perfect example (althought Geordo is not one of my favorite) He is possesive and madly in love with her and often say the sentence "you belong to me" which often makes girl's heart skip a beat. After all these years I think Geordo deserves happiness. His scene after the kidnapping incident when they "save Catarina" after he knows about what happened was just so funny ! And his yandere end in the game is just...It startled me ! His black smile to prevent men to approach Catarina is really funny too. I hope he will never learn what happened during the sea town operation...
Keith and Catarina :
To me, Catarina and Keith look like lovers from a romance novel, because of their personnalities ; the two are shy, puerile and not really at ease with the opposite gender in a romantic way. But if you see them together, you have this aura about them about a gentle and loving couple. (In Keith's memory scenario, people around thought they were a married couple with even a child...) He always wants to protect her but has his limits (like in the volume 6 or 8) And, like Geordo, he considers everyone who shows any interest in his sister as rivals (guys and girls) Keith is constantly worried about his sister, who is oblivious of how many people she unintentionally seduces. He indeed has a severe case of sister complex... He is also affectionate, gentle and overprotective toward her. It's just a shame that he acts very motherly toward Catarina.
Alan and Catarina :
To me, Alan and Catarina look more like siblings than a couple because the two of them have a "childish" and "puerile" personnality. But if you try to see them as a couple I would say that they look like two mischievious children who were friends in their childhood and become conscious of each others as they grown up (and it's a bit the case) In this kind of story it often happen that the guy or the girl realizes that, he or she is in love with the other when he or she becomes jealous of the others guys or girls approaching the other person or something like that . Or even when (in this case) they start to become flustered with each other as they grown up (blushing when they brush, this and that) But even if Alan can be rude sometimes I think they look like a cute and cool couple next to each other.
Nicol and Catarina :
To me, these two look like the light and the dark when you see them together, you can't help but feel that it's very beautiful. Next to each other they really remind me Nicol's parents when I saw them for the first time. I couldn't help but feel that it's a good match. Their story looks like one of a romance story, at some moment I really wanted to say "Do it ! Kidnap her and live happily !" I know it's a bit too much ^^; Especially when I knew his parent's story. They look like an elegant, (VERY) charming and loving couple almost like in a fantasy story. And Catarina really puts Nicol at ease because he is not a sociable, I think it's very cute. The end in the game was really adorable ! I love Nicol's father !
Raphael and Catarina :
To tell the true, Catarina and Raphael is really one of my favorite ship. They just look so cute when they're next to each other. And Raphael is really sharp and wants to help and protect her in any way he can. Raphael is very caring and kind, like Catarina (you will see it it in the last bonus story I posted) Next to each other they look like a lovely and really adorable couple. To me, they look like childhood friends in stories who fell in love with each others when they were kids but were too shy to confess. I can imagine Raphael taking care of Catarina if they had know each other in their childhood, like a gentle, caring and diligent big brother. It's also because he really reminds me of Rozy in the game. I want them to get married !!!
Sora and Catarina :
Just like with Raphael, I fell head over heels for him at first sight and I really hoped he would fall in love with Catarina, I was so happy when it happened !!! I just think they look really similar and are really adorable during their interactions. The fact that Sora ruffles Catarina's hair every time she's too dense or says romantic things without realizing it is just too funny and cute ! What's more, Catarina said that he does that pretty often so...I really pity him, It must not be easy... He also acts so tsunstun with her ^^ And during the kidnapping incident I was so excited when he said he wanted to flee to another country with her ^^. So cute ! I really love the bonus short story when this girl thought they were a couple and I completely agree ! In short, when you see Catarina and Sora you immediately think they are an attractive and cute couple like "in a illustration of a romance novel" like this girl said. It's really the perfect couple at first sight for me.
Cezar and Catarina :
I loved him from the beginning, he has a incredible personnality, the one that we lacked in the group. He is also very handsome (in his normal clothes) and I love his oriental style. I was so happy when he fell in love with Catarina, his POV is so cute ^^ For me, physically it's a strange mix but so beautiful, "A man and a woman from different countries meet by coincidence and one of them fall in love with the other" They throught they will never meet again but it happens".It looks like a romance novel !!! They also get along in no time and their interactions are one of the best. It's just a shame that it didn't last long... But in the volume 13, Cezar comes back !!!! I can't wait to see them again and the synopsis is very interesting.
Rozy and Catarina :
I really love Rozy too ! I don't really know why but when I saw him for the first time I couldnt help but feel that he really looks like Raphael (but unfortunality not him...) And their personnalities are very alike too. Rozy is very cute and I love his background too. His story with Catarina is adorable too, how he loved her when they were children and all ^^ And how he looks after her even as children. The story looks like "A lost childhood friend" My favorite picture was the one when he hugs her at the end after Catarina said she will come back for him. I blushed so much ^^ Next to each other they look so cute and lovely, like a painting ! It's just a shame that we don't see Rozy in the original story... His shy and gentle side really is adorable !
Silva and Catarina :
I loved Silva at first sight, he's so handsome ! Just like with Rozy, he really reminds me Sora, their personnalities are so alike ! Silva's route is really my favorite and the end is just perfect. His relationship with Catarina is so cute, their moments and especially when we have Silva's POV about how he feels for her and the customs from his country. Just adorable ! Next to each other they look like so much things, a painting, an illustration of a romance novel ect... Their story sounds like the one Sophia was talking about on the ship with the pirate and the noble lady (and also with Sora but it was inverse) In short, Silva and Catarina is really one of my favorite couple. And Silva is an incredible character. There is just one thing....Silva was able to make Catarina fall in love with him in... a few days and with Geordo and the others it took 8 years !!! He's good ! (and Rozy too)
I think it's all, thank you very much for reading, and all of that is only my opinion, don't forget ^^
It's also okay if you don't agree with anything I said ^^
Welp... time to do this thing! Since 20 words is quite a few, I'm going to try and pick passages with multiple words. Wish me luck~!
[Update: Whoa... I found them all in just three Apricity chapters and the Prithvi draft! And some paragraphs had multiple! O.O]
-
[Cerise] - Flex, Surface, Depth, Chain, Power, Pushed, Muscle
“Now, follow my finger,” he requested. Beau complied, following the slender finger as it moved between his eyes, into his peripheral vision, and back in front. “Look directly into my eyes.” As the doctor leaned in, he finally made eye contact even if it was only to observe his pupils and test his corneal light reflexes. At this close distance, Beau felt the heat from earlier resurface as he stared right back into the depths of fathomless, dark gold irises. [...] There was that pull again. Only this time, his heart lurched painfully, knowing that the man was clearly hiding something. That chain was reeling him in, compelling Beau to take a few steps forward. Chastising himself for the ridiculous overreaction, Beau stopped, took a few breaths to calm himself, pushed his glasses up, and addressed the man standing before him. [...] Sounding more confident than he felt, Beau turned around and was about to walk away when he slipped and suddenly he was falling - something he was all too familiar with even when he was healthy. Right when he thought he’d hit the floor, powerful arms wrapped themselves around him and cool hands pushed him back against a hard, muscular chest.
-
[Azure] - Land, Creep, Brilliant, Edge
Despite the time that passed, there was little change in the general landscape. However, the low buzz of the glade slowly crescendoed and night finally beset the land. Bright moonlight overtook the haze, the fog from earlier mysteriously disappearing from sight. [...] At that moment, the world fell silent. The tree line crept into the meadow until all earth, life, and sky was once again overtaken by the dark azure hollow. Shivers ran up his spine and goosebumps tightened across his skin. Not even the rustling of leaves or the light breeze blowing through his hair registered until it gently urged him a few steps back. Despite his trepidation, he slowly turned to face whatever was behind him. Towards whatever had left the siblings with such terrified expressions. One shadow. The man was alone this time, leaning casually against a tall tree in the distance. He appeared as he had in the clearing - brilliant blond hair, sharp dark gold eyes, silky ice-blue button-down partially undone, and black trousers - as he gazed at him. Yet somehow, it felt different. [...] The azure light cast a cool tint onto already pale features, adding a sharp edge to what used to be warm gold eyes and blond hair, leaving behind harsh shadows across his face.
-
[Sangria] - Snort, Stifle, Repeat
“You’re exactly as he described you,” Mina said as she met Mike’s eyes. “What?” Mike turned to Beau. “Hey, do you gossip about me during your little sauna sessions?” “Obviously not, you idiot. Why would I even do that?” Beau retorted. “She’s clearly talking about Edward.” “Huh? That makes even less sense! We barely even talk outside of AP Bio - what is there even to gossip about?” “Don’t ask me, dude,” Beau shrugged before considering him more thoughtfully. “Hmm… though now that I think about it, he has mentioned you quite a few times.” “Of course he has, dumbass. We’ve been bugging him this entire time about this mess of a mystery, and you’re the one who talks to him all the time outside of school.” Beau snorted. “Obviously that's true, but he also mentions you when-” A sudden burst of laughter interrupted them. The two boys turned to face the gold-eyed girl who was trying and failing to stifle her laughter and keep a straight face. “Sorry, sorry,” she said after calming down… though that smile never left her face. “He’s right about Edward, but that’s a completely different issue.” No? No it wasn’t? What the hell was going on this time? [...] Getting slapped repeatedly with increasing levels of mindfuckery after barely reconciling whatever previous mindfuckery the world had deemed fit to deal him with was most certainly not his idea of a good time.
-
[Prithvi] - Hill, Scar, Fruit, Glitter, Epic, Dream
Wells dotted the landscape, but there was also a major stream running through the center of the town. Beau’s own house sat a bit higher up, perched between the side of a hill and the top of a tree root and had deep green vines coiled around the house. The sunlight filtered in through the gaps and thin layers of the warm yellow-green canopy and lovely dots of reds, purples, oranges, and whites popped out throughout the landscape. Warm lanterns dotted the houses, buildings, and paths below him. [...] A warmth accompanied the whispers as they hit his form, covering him like a cozy blanket on a cold winter day. The scent of freshly baked bread melted together with the fragrance of freshly roasted coffee with a trace of spice within it all. The undercurrent of chocolate and fruits and the overtone of sweet but mellowed sugar combined with all of that to fill the air with pleasant aroma that should have put Beau at ease. [...] Surprised, Beau turned to the person sitting in front of him. Short brunette hair, warm eyes lined boldly, light scars on her neck. She looked at him with a strange sort of fascination - the first person to meet his eyes ever since he first stepped foot into the village. She also felt a bit out of place - though not as much as he was. Still, she might give him the answer he was seeking. Did she know where- [...] Mirroring the color scheme all throughout the shrine, the jewelry contained intricate diamond-shaped patterns and pendants, along with glittering gems and bold-toned minerals in varying shades of blue, green, and indigo. The remaining boxes produced similar pieces and they were beautiful… but he was a stranger and whatever was going to happen clearly wasn’t a traditional wedding. [...] No way. That couldn’t be real… could it? Surely that was just a silly little trope relegated to the darker corners of the Internet. But tropes… was it really just a trope? Didn’t that sort of thing have its origins in history? Or at least in myths, epics, or legends? [...] Beau lifted his hands and looked down at them for a moment, aimed his right pointer finger at the center of his left palm and brought them together, slowly and deliberately. …it went through.  Then… this was the same as that night in the forest.  A dream.
Lustful Night at the Drive-In
Series: Fairy Tail Pairing: Gray/Juvia Rating: 18+ Word Count: ~4,460 words
EXPLICIT CONTENT ADVISORY: The following story contains graphic sexual descriptions, and strong language. Reader’s discretion is strongly advised!
---
The deafening roar of a winged dragon pierced the fragile air, as it soared through the clear skies. This colossal beast immediately swept down towards its intended targets, below: An army of mages already prepared to defend their homeland. Just as it reached its destination, however, said creature had suddenly opened its mouth wide, and expelled a great burst of orangey-red flames towards its opponents.
The explosive display of fire blasted through the speakers that flanked three sides of a wide and tall-standing screen situated outdoors, while the entire scene was projected onto it.
More than a dozen vehicles were parked on the paved lot of the drive-in theatre that was less than half an hour away from metropolis. Underneath the starry skies, some of the theatre's patrons took part in watching one of the latest summer blockbusters from the comfort of their cars.
Among them, in the back row, there was a pink-haired male who was seated on the hood of his sports car, alongside his blonde companion. He noisily munched on a bucket of popcorn, much to the blonde female's dismay.
"Natsu," she chided him, "can you not eat so loud? Some of us are trying to enjoy the movie, here."
The gruff voice of another male added to her complaint, coming from a couple of parking spots to the left of them. "She's got a point, Salamander," the stocky, dark-haired male called out from across, sitting atop the hood of his pickup truck, with his short, blue-haired female companion in tow. "We can also hear you eating, from here."
Parked in between those two, was another couple who arrived at the theatre with them. A cobalt-haired male sat onto the hood of his two-door coupe, with a redheaded woman right by his side. Their attention was mainly focused on the movie itself, both of them watching quietly, in awe.
His mouth full with popcorn, the pink-haired male turned to them with his eyebrows raised. "What? I'm also enjoying the movie too!" Swallowing down the popped kernels, Natsu took a breath, before he gestured. "I just wish Gray was here with us, instead of a few spaces down that way."
The blonde nodded accordingly. "Now that you mention it," Lucy murmured, before turning her head to the left, looking closely at the vehicles that were parked down that direction, "I wonder what Gray and Juvia are up to…"
Just three occupied spaces past them, there was a full-size sports utility vehicle stationed in the center of the back row, its windows tinted. The large, slate-toned four-wheeler began to shake around lightly, bouncing onto each of its four corners, while muffled noises threatened to spill out from the inside.
Heavy breaths and moans filled the vehicle's spacious interior, where a pile of clothes were draped, and strewn over the driver and passenger seats. The high-pitched giggle of a young female cut into the air, as a pair of denim trousers was flung onto the pile over the driver's seat, adding to it.
Both of the vehicle's occupants took up its back, with all of its rear seats folded down to make extra space for them. A raven-haired male sat upright, on top of a soft mat of light fur that lined the back's flooring. His arms were wrapped around the curvaceous body of an azure-haired female who straddled his hips, sitting on her knees, and over his lap.
Her arms were around the back of his neck, as they slanted their lips intensely over each other's. They could feel the warmth of one another's skin, while the two of them shared their lip-lock with much fervor.
A muffled moan blurted out from the blunette, in the midst of their kiss. "Mmn…Gray…sama…"
Her raven-haired lover responded with a low groan of his own, running his hands softly over her back. "Juvia…"
Pulling their mouths away, the two of them caught their breaths, as they held each other closely.
Juvia could only stifle a quiet giggle to herself, causing her lover to raise his eyebrows curiously at her. "What?"
She narrowed her eyes to a partly-lidded gaze, her cheeks flush with a tinge of red. "This feels all too sudden for Juvia."
Gray held a curved eyebrow at her, smirking slightly. "Too sudden for you?"
"Well," she began with a coy-like smile, momentarily casting her eyes away from him, "both Juvia and Gray-sama were supposed to watch the movie together." The blunette then turned her gaze back towards her raven-haired lover, partly-narrowing her eyes. "And, then, Juvia believes that it was Gray-sama who started it, first."
He held back an amused chuckle, in response, before his lips cracked open into a teasing grin. "That's only because your hand was all over my lap, when we began watching."
The blunette hummed elatedly at that remark. "Juvia doesn't care, at this point." She narrowed her eyes even more at him. "She just wants Gray-sama now."
Not before long, the two of them seized the lips of one another. Their tongues were pushed into each other's mouths, swirling and clashing around. In the midst of all this, Gray sneaked his fingers towards the back of her strapless bra, reaching its clasp.
Juvia could feel him unbuckle it, freeing her burgeoned chest from its confines. Fluttering her eyes open, she saw her lover just having tossed the bra behind him, where it ended up onto the pile over the seats.
Leaning in quickly, Gray pressed his lips aggressively over the top of her round, enormous breasts.
The blunette mewled out, while she brought her hands around the back of his head, with her lithe fingers gripping his locks over there. "A-ah! Yes…that's it, Gray-sama…ah!"
Delighted murmurs escaped under his breath, as he left deep kisses all over her mounds, before he moved down to her buds. Juvia's moans and panting heightened, when he closed his mouth around her pebbled nipple, and swirled the tip of his tongue around it. He then switched over to her other nipple, performing those same teasing touches with his lips.
In his mind, he was thankful that the sounds of the movie happening outside were drowning out the sounds they made, inside the vehicle they were in.
---
"Whoaaa!"
Elsewhere, all the others watching the movie by themselves were in complete awe at the action that they witnessed.
Sitting beside Gajeel, Levy let out her thoughts into the open. "Unbelievable!"
Across from their right, Erza shared the same sentiment with her, likewise. "I've never seen anything like it!"
Natsu nearly lost his hold onto the bucket of popcorn, his mouth opening up into a wide gape. "Wow! So cool!" The pink-haired male then turned his head away from the screen, for an instant, before he grunted. "I wish the ice princess was here to see this…he's totally missing out on it!"
His attention was turned back to the screen, right away, as an explosion happening in the movie had ripped through the theatre's speakers. It had amazed everyone watching, including him.
---
A pair of dark-coloured boxer briefs joined the pile of clothes on the seats—only for a pair of high-cut panties to end up on top of it, not more than a second afterward.
Breathy moans left the blunette, as she found herself on top of her lover, facing his fully-erect phallus below. "Mmh…Gray-sama…"
Said raven-haired male gave a low groan, when he felt her fingers wrapped around his shaft, and ran them up and down all over it. His sights were focused on her heavily-dampened entrance, leaking with clear fluid that trickled down her inner thighs.
Juvia squealed, when she felt the warm blade of his tongue press against her outer folds, as it swiped across them.
His fingers latching onto the supple skin of her thick thighs, Gray could feel her body tense, and shift around, while he repeatedly swiped the tip of his tongue against her cleft. Satisfied hums muffled out from him, as he dipped his tongue into her inner folds, earning him a squeaky squeal from his blunette lover. His satisfied hums shortly cut into quiet groans, when he felt the familiar, wetly-warm sensation of her mouth against him.
Suckling against the tip of his shaft, Juvia pulled back a bit, only to sweep her tongue up the side of it. She could hear her lover's moans of approval from behind her, underneath, spurring her to keep it up. Gray gasped, and hissed out, when he felt her mouth take in more of him, forcing his trembling grip on her thighs to loosen slightly.
The blunette hummed delightfully, feeling every twitch and pulse of his cock, as she bobbed her head up and down. Suddenly, she could feel his tongue all over her clit, again, forcing out a muffled cry from her.
Stifling out a chuckle, Gray pushed more of his tongue inside her clit, sliding it around her inner walls. Pulling away from his phallus, Juvia released another cry of pleasure, having felt a surge of energy rush through her body. "G-Gray-sama!"
Low, teasing hums left the raven-haired Fullbuster, while he continued his oral ministrations on her. He then groaned lowly, when he felt her lips brush against the side of his shaft. Softly moaning, Juvia swept her tongue along the length of it, and gathered the pre-cum that seeped from its tip. She relished its musky scent, and its mixed taste of salty-bitterness, before taking him into her oral cavern again.
Retracting his mouth away from her entrance, Gray panted rather briefly, before he called out her name. "Juvia…I want to put it in, now…"
Taking her mouth out from his phallus, the blunette steadied her breaths momentarily. "Yes…"
---
Lucy looked around, for an instant, before turning to her pink-haired boyfriend. "Hey, Natsu," she asked, "I'm heading out to the washroom, right now. Is there anything you want me to get, over at the concession stand?"
His lips broke into his usual grin. "Could you get me a large soda, please? All this popcorn is making my mouth dry."
Pouting at her pink-haired boyfriend for a brief moment, Lucy sighed, before she brought herself off from the hood of their car. As she began making her way towards the washrooms, however, she directed her sights at the vehicle where Gray and Juvia were, for an instance. She then turned away from it, before continuing her way.
---
Their hushed moans and panting grew louder, cutting through the heavy air around them.
Juvia whimpered, as she felt the tip of his shaft rub repeatedly against her cleft.
Hovering above her, Gray held his cock with one hand, guiding it towards her entrance. The raven-haired male held back a strained grunt, slipping the head of his phallus in.
"A—ahh!" A breathy cry left the blunette's gape, with the sudden intrusion forcing her back to arch. She threw her head back, lengthy strands of wavy blue hair spilling and fanning outward, as the rigid sensation of his shaft reached deeper through her love canal. "G—Gray-sama!"
Almost immediately, his low, delighted groan followed. Gray relished the wetly-warm and silky sensation of her inner walls that welcomed and surrounded him, sending a shiver through his spine.
The young, dark-haired Fullbuster steadily drew his hips back, before thrusting them forward rather quickly—forcing moan-like grunts from both lovers, nearly at the same time. He repeated those very movements of his hips, building up the pace of his thrusts, as he leaned in closer towards her.
Juvia wrapped her arms instinctively around his neck, along with her legs around his lower waist, having felt his lower torso press against hers. Her lilting moans came out in heavy huffs, barely keeping her eyes locked towards his, while she felt the warmth of his breath against her skin. Her eyes fluttered to a close of her own volition, upon feeling his lips passionately seize over hers.
Their tongues swirled and clashed, with their gasps and groans pouring out into muffles. "Mmm…Gray-sama…Gray-saamm—a-ah…"
"Mhm…Juvia," her lover murmured into their kiss, driving his hips back and forth against hers. "Juvia…"
Said blunette could feel every flex of his lower muscles, as her shapely legs rode over his hips. Bringing her arms under his, she pressed the tips of her fingers against his rigid upper back, digging her nails against his skin.
Gray grunted and nearly growled out, upon feeling those very nails being dragged down his upper posterior. It was a signal from his lover underneath for him to pick up the pace even more.
Their mouths broke away from one another, as soon as he began buckling his hips roughly against her. Juvia cried out, throwing her head back again, while she let her arms fall away from him, and rest outward on either side of her head.
She pressed the back of her head against the fur of the mat below, with her tongue sticking out from her gape. "G—Gray-sama," she squealed out, having felt his hips rock right against her. "O—oh, y-yes!"
"Mmngh!" His light, guttural growl came out through gritted teeth. With his bent arms propping him up, Gray angled his hips more against hers. He plunged his hips in and out, reaching deeper into her love canal, while he ran his hands all over and through her thick, but silky strands of hair at the sides of her head. "Ah…fuck…"
The blunette below him responded with another squeal-like cry, her mind swirling and having been dominated with such pleasure. "Juveeen!"
---
Stepping out of the washroom, Lucy began making her way towards the concessions stand. As she did, however, she slowed to a stop, having turned her attention to the silvery sports utility vehicle again.
There was a wide stare in her eyes, having spotted said parked vehicle shaking around a lot. She blinked a few times, before her cheeks were filled with such rosiness.
'Is it just me,' she thought in her mind, 'or, did I…?'
Shaking her head around, the blonde silently recomposed herself. Turning her eyes away from that vehicle, Lucy continued towards the concessions stand, on her way back to her boyfriend's car.
---
"Aah—ah! Ah!" Squeaky, delighted cries escaped Juvia's gape, as she tightly bunched the fur around her fingers, with her bent knees digging against it. "Gray-sama!"
Her lover groaned loudly in response, from behind. His hands gripped around her waist firmly, while he rocked his hips back and forth. "Fuck," he hissed out. "You feel so damn good…"
The sounds of bare skin slapping against bare skin reverberated throughout the vehicle's interior, as Gray kept up the same highly-passionate pace of his thrusts. His dangling necklace swung around, with each drive of his hips, while he leaned forward over her.
At almost the same time, her heaving, enormous breasts swayed back and forth from every thrust he made. "Y-yes," she panted out at his remark, in between her moans. "Gray-sama…ah…also feels so good…hah…inside of…Juvia-a—ahh!"
She could barely feel his arms suddenly wrapping around right below her chest—before they pulled her body up towards his, without warning. The azure-haired female cried out in surprise at this, as her hands left the mat, while her back was pressed flush against his solid chest.
With both lovers remaining on their knees, Gray continued to thrust roughly and deeply into her, while his hands roamed all over her ample mounds. Simultaneously, he buried his face against the crook of her neck, nuzzling against it, before leaving deep kisses against the side of her neck. "Hah…Juvia…mmn…Juvia…"
All his touches and kisses, combined with the sensation of his solid phallus in her, had added further to her pleasure. "Oh, yes," she panted out lowly, feeling his breath fanned over the shell of her ear—right before his lips pressed against the side of it. "A-ah! Gray-sama…yes…more…"
She brought her hand over the side of his head, while he kept running his fingers around, and grasped all over her breasts.
That moment didn't last long, however, as Juvia felt him pull her back down to the mat, without warning. Another squeal tore from her, with both lovers having fallen onto it, together.
--
Returning to her boyfriend's car, with a large cup of soda in her hand, Lucy seated herself onto the hood of it, beside Natsu. "Hey," she greeted him with a soft smile, before handing him the cup. "I got you your soda."
"Thanks," he returned with a grin, taking a sip from it, before he raised his eyebrows at her. "Uh…have you seen Gray or Juvia over there, by any chance?"
The rosy blush returned on Lucy's face, upon hearing their names. Putting those thoughts about them aside, the blonde did her best to answer that. "N—no," she initially stumbled, shaking her head—only being able to feign earnestness in the tone of her voice, afterward. "No, Natsu," she nonchalantly replied. "I haven't seen them there."
He kept his eyebrows raised at her, above his stare. "…Huh." He then shrugged his shoulders, before turning his attention back to the movie.
Lucy quietly sighed to herself, with a hand over her chest. She then turned her head away from her boyfriend, casting aside her eyes, deep in thought.
---
"Oh, yes!" Her squeal-like moans pierced the air. "Oh, yeees! Gray-sama…more!"
Her raven-haired lover underneath her complied with a deep grunt, as he picked up the pace of his thrusts even more, buckling his hips roughly against hers.
With his entire back against the mat, Gray had let the blunette lay over him. His hands lifted her bent knees upward, and spread apart, from underneath her thick thighs.
Juvia continued to cry out her lover's name in between her gasps and moans, feeling his heavy breath fan out over her skin from behind her, to her left. "Yes...Juvia wants more!"
A low grunt came from the dark-haired male under her, as he felt the tingling sensations gather at the base of his spine, where they started to intensify. He could tell that the pressure in the piths of his core was about to snap.
"F—fuck," he hissed out through gritted teeth, rocking his hips wildly against her. "Juvia…I'm...I'm gonna—!"
The cries of his azure-haired lover above him grew louder, as she writhed about against his torso from underneath. "Oh, yes! Oh, yeees!"
With a final rough, jarring buckle of their hips together, both lovers immediately reached the peaks of their shared pleasure.
A prolonged, but strained cry left Juvia's widened gape, her tongue sticking out of it, while her eyes rolled back. While throwing her head back, she arched her posterior more, with her body held in place. For the entire moment, there was a sheer amount of pleasure that coursed through her nerves, overwhelming her mind, as she felt an extraordinary burst of energy deep in her lower core—before its incredible warmth eventually radiated outward, and pooled around.
At the same time, her lover underneath had let his immense pleasure be known, with primal grunts, groans, and growls through gritted teeth. His jaw clenched tightly, as he held onto her thighs, feeling the burn of every muscle tensing in his body. Much like what the blunette experienced above him, Gray had also felt such incredible warmth surrounding him closely—along with the feel of liquescent heat pulsing out through his tip, in spurts.
With the final waves of their pleasure having fully cresting over, and subsiding, both lovers sunk back down on top of each other for a moment. Their chests heaving, the two of them began catching their breaths, feeling the built-up sweat on the skins of one another.
Her panting coming out in huffs, Juvia brought her hand over her lower belly, where she felt the warmth that still emanated from there. She held back a light giggle, before turning her head over to face his eyes. "Gray-sama…"
He returned her gaze with a suave grin under his loving stare. "Juvia…"
They then slanted their lips over each other's, sharing a slow, simmering kiss, before they pulled away from one another.
Sitting up, Gray leaned against the rear of the front seats, as he brought a hand over the side of his lover's face. "That felt really good."
The blunette responded with an airy giggle, resting her hands over his torso. "Juvia thinks the same way, as well." She then squeaked, when she began shifting her hips around, feeling their fluids leaking out from underneath her. "It seems like Gray-sama came inside Juvia a lot."
"A lot?" Gray raised his eyebrows above his widened eyes, as the sudden realization had finally reached his mind. He then brought his hand over his forehead. "Ah, shit…"
"Eh? Gray-sama?" Juvia raised her brows curiously at him. "What's wrong?"
The raven-haired male sighed. "I just realized we didn't bring any protection with us," he explained, frowning. "I didn't even bring a condom with me."
Juvia blinked at her dark-haired lover for a moment, before her eyes softened towards him. "That's alright," she smiled at him, reassuringly. "Juvia remembered to take her birth control, before this."
He cocked an eyebrow at her. "You did?"
She nodded at him. "Even if Juvia didn't," she answered, "it would still be considered a 'safe day' for her, since Juvia did check the calendar, very recently."
Gray had stared at her for a moment, blinking, before he gave a quieted sigh of relief, relaxing against the rear of the seat. His attention was then diverted back to the movie playing outside, as his ears picked up the soundtrack blaring through the speakers.
Sitting up higher, and turning his head around, for a moment, he was able to make out the screen through the windshield. "Huh," he noted, "the movie's already over." Another wave of realization then hit him like a ton of bricks. "Oh, shit! I just realized, we have to meet up with the others—"
Hearing her giggle, the dark-haired male turned to his cobalt-haired lover, as she wrapped her hand around his shaft. "J—Juvia?!" His eyes widened incredulously at her, before he let out a soft groan, having felt her fingers squeeze lightly around the base of it. "W—what are you—?"
Without a word, the blunette swept her tongue along the sides of his phallus, collecting the remnants of their mixed fluids that gathered there. She could feel his body twitch, and could hear his moans coming out in huffs, as she took him into her mouth again.
Moving her head up and down a few times, Juvia finally pulled her mouth away from it. "Sorry," she panted quietly, with a cheeky grin at him. "Juvia just wanted to clean up Gray-sama, before we head out."
She then gasped, as she peered back down at his phallus, which had now been re-erected at full-mast. The sight of it aroused her even further than it should, forcing her to lean in towards it.
Gray choked out a gasp, when he felt her wrap her breasts around him. "Wait—wait a minute!" He grunted at the sheer supple softness of her cleavage firmly surrounding his cock. "I thought you wanted to clean me up!"
Juvia giggled naughtily, as she rubbed her mounds all over his shaft. "Well…Juvia lied about that," she whispered, before leaning in, with her lips suckling around its head. "Juvia just wants to pleasure Gray-sama, one more time."
With one eye closed, Gray could barely keep the other open at her, as his fingers dug into the mat below. He leaned up against the rear of the seats, letting himself fall to the incredible sensation she was giving. 'This woman…!'
"Hey, ice-prick!" Natsu glared at the raven-haired male in front of him, his hands akimbo to his sides. "Where have you and Juvia been?!"
The two of them, fully-dressed in their casual attire—before the movie started—stood together, directly across from the pink-haired male and his blonde girlfriend.
Gray glared back at him, with an annoyed expression on his face. "What do you think, flame-brain? Juvia and I were watching the movie inside my car!"
Along with Lucy, only Gajeel, Levy, and Jellal watched the increasingly-awkward exchange between the two, staring blankly at them.
"Gray, Natsu," Erza chided them, as she stepped in between them. "That's enough—both of you!"
Right away, the two had backed off at the sight of her scowling expression that signaled her annoyance at both men.
The redhead then turned to the pink-haired male. "Natsu," she began. "Gray's allowed to watch the movie, the way he wants to…do you understand?"
Natsu fully acknowledged her with a firm nod of his head, the sheepish expression remaining on his face.
She then turned to the dark-haired Fullbuster. "But, Gray…you have to let all of us know ahead of time, if the both of you aren't going to watch the movie right beside us—is that clear?"
Gray nodded his head at her, with slight chagrin. "Yes, Erza."
Levy sighed at the situation between the two having yet been resolved by the redhead, subtly shaking her head. "Anyway," she remarked, "I actually did find the movie to be quite engaging."
"Yeah," Gajeel agreed beside her, "I liked how those action scenes came out."
The pink-haired male raised his arms in an energetic manner. "That was awesome! I liked that part where they fought that dragon, near the end!"
Lucy gave a small chuckle at his reaction. "I actually did think the dialogue wasn't well-written," she added in. "But, for a summer blockbuster…I thought it was alright."
Jellal simply nodded at that. "So," he concluded, "I think we all agree that this was worth the general admission."
"Indeed," Erza nodded beside him, with a slight smile. "And, I suppose we'll all meet up next time for the next movie that all of us would want to watch?"
Everyone else agreed with her, with a few laughs and smiles around. "Yeah!"
After bidding their farewells and 'good nights' to each other, all of the pairs parted ways to return to their vehicles. As Gray and Juvia returned to his car, their hands linked together, Gray could feel her suddenly snuggle up right against his side.
The blunette giggled at him. "Juvia couldn't wait to go watch another movie with Gray-sama, again."
Gray grinned at her, as they stopped by his four-wheeler. "Well, if we do," he teased, "are you going to behave, when we start watching?"
Juvia winked at him. "That depends on what Juvia really wants with Gray-sama."
The raven-haired male smiled and laughed, with her also giggling, before he leaned in to press his lips affectionately against her cheek.
