5 Reasons to Read ‘Follow Me Back’ by A.V Geiger

1. You want to read a thriller with an ongoing investigation throughout the book

The investigation is a recurring aspect of the book and it's not about one incident but several related incidents and people. This format is interesting and you never really know when the tables are turned in this book.

2.  Social Media significance and the portrayal of its effect on the life of a celebrity 

Twitter forms an integral part of this book. The male protagonist, Eric Thorn, a popular musician, lets us in on the flip side of fame in the time of social media. It’s a very interesting insight and while we might know the basics of it on the surface, this book shows how it works in its intricacies - marketing, personal life, fan-celeb relation, actual work of the artist. 

3. You want a YA thriller that is more about the mystery than the romance and will have you guessing about things right till the end

Now, I am not someone who reads a lot of books from the mystery/thriller genre but I picked up this book because the setting seemed familiar to me - YA. However, I was afraid that it will be cliche YA and not really have a good mystery that will keep me hooked but I was wrong - it was brilliant. It had many twists and things I didn’t see coming. I was satisfied with the ending and that’s saying something because I’ve been deeply dissatisfied with teen thrillers (Pretty Little Liars, for example)

4. Fan/Celebrity Equation is a major theme

I have always corrected myself - I don’t love the artist/author/celebrity, I like their music/writing/character. Basically, I love their work, not them because I do not actually know them. I understand how a lot of the work is a reflection of their minds and lives but it's not the same thing. 

And crushing on a celebrity or fangirling is fine as long as its all innocent and one is not being delusional. But sometimes it doesn’t stop there. And that is unhealthy and that is dangerous.

5. Mental Health

Tessa, the female protagonist, has agoraphobia but the theme of mental illness is prevalent throughout the book and affects the character developments centrally.

Wattpad Nostalgia//After by Anna Todd Nostalgia

I read this on wattpad but it’s a published book also. So it gave me major nostalgic feels as I used to read on wattpad all the time back in high school. 

And for all the After by Anna Todd fans out there, the female protagonist in this book named Tessa Hart, reminded me a lot of Tessa Young in After. It goes beyond the same name, it’s their ability to be kind to those who are being jerks to them, giving the benefit of the doubt to those who have harmed them.

I don’t remember why I got this. Someone somewhere mentioned it and I ordered it from the library. It took eons to get a copy, hence not remembering why I asked for it in the first place. LOL Follow Me Back by A.V. Geiger was unexpectedly brilliant. I read it in one day. Read a bit in the morning while homeschooling the kiddo because I expected it to be crap and then I could add it to my one page…

Another book completed. I read this book last year around this time during foot surgery. I knew I’d remember some of it but I needed a reread. Especially since the 2nd book just came out this month!
