My favourite thing about all these new Star Wars series on Disney+ is that they haven't tried to do any X-Men-style "make cartoon shit look real" stuff. They've just said, no, this guy looks like a giant rubber arsehole in a wig, and his buddy's a grasshopper who sucked on a McDonald's milkshake too hard, accept that or gtfo.

I love Star Wars and I adore the Mandalorian. I’ve been seeing so much hate for this current season and while I do understand the disappointment of having Season 3 be like the previous seasons, and it taking a turn, I have to wonder, is this season a set up for season 4 through Mandalorian world/culture building, setting up possible future issues, and so on.
I know people are upset that Din and Grogu are not the main focus anymore it seems this season and Bo-Katan is getting all the attention, but I can’t help but wonder, is this on purpose. We know Filoni is working on Asokha and Pedro Pascal was filming The Last of Us during this, so I can’t help but wonder if Filoni and Favrou are saving what they wanted the 3rd season to be as the fourth with some tweets and edits, and using the third season to showcase the other Mandalorians, the New Republic and its flaws, AND Bo-Katan and her arch as a way of framing all the nitty gritty shit that’s about to go down.
While I understand people’s hesitance to this season being nothing like the Space Western of seasons 1 and 2 we all know and love, I can’t help but feel that this season, Filoni and Favrou wanted to give us something a bit light hearted and something a bit different before shocking our systems with a possibly more darker and more violent season 4, where Din must take a new and possibly more dangerous path that not only challenges him and his beliefs, but also the people around him. I just can’t help but feel that what we are seeing is what Din wants to see. Him not being the center of attention from danger, but what he wants as a Mandalorian. Peace, community, and a place to raise Grogu, and I think season 4 is going to be so dark, violent, heart breaking that it forces Din to realize that that semi-peaceful life he wants can not happen and he was meant to be and do something else. Something greater.
The Mandalorian is not just about Din Djarin or just about Mandalorians. The Mandalorian is about Don’s journey in becoming THE Mandalorian. A new version possibly and while I do have my issues with this season and with some of the past seasons, that should not take away how much I love the Mandalorian. I truly think this season is a set up. We are seeing, in a sense, events play out that will create a catalyst, something that ends up forcing Din to action once more.
I hope I am not wrong.

foaming at the mouth about ahsoka. Star Wars has a nasty habit of naming their character generic Indian names to sound exotic (Padme- Padma, you can throw a stray cat in India and it'll hit a Padma at some point; Bodhi Rook, Shaak Ti- Shakti, a Hindu goddess) but Ahsoka is just complete other levels of funny.
Ahsoka is named for the Indian emperor Asokha who was a pretty great man who facilitated the spread of Buddhism into China and East Asia. He was known as a tolerant man who cared deeply for the arts and scholarly matters.
He also spent his 20s waging war against literally all of his neighbors, only stopping when they surrended before ransacking and plundering their resources. Those resources fueled his war machine and his empire for years. Asokha famously stopped his rampages after he burned Kalinga to the ground and had a whole "what have I done?" moment. It was after he conquered everything, saw the costs of the quest he had to become king of the world that made him change.
an interesting name with history, and no parallels done whatsoever.

Hi Gina, how are you? I'm looking for a star wars fic where one of them is a jedi and the other one a Mandalorian (i think it was obi wan asokha inspired)
Hi love. If you search AO3 for a crossover that includes the Mandalorian, there’s only one fic.
ghost of you by beckywritesthings (E, 109K)
As a rule, Mandalorians and Jedi do not get along.
So when Harry Styles, esteemed Jedi Knight, finds out he has to work with the hot-tempered Mandalorian Duke, Louis Tomlinson, he’s prepared for it to go poorly. But it doesn’t, testing both of their boundaries of what they deem acceptable for a partnership.
It’s the start of something, and as the galaxy dissolves into war, they find themselves clinging to each other, even as it drags up things better left in the past. As it turns out, nothing between them has changed.
Or, a Star Wars AU where Harry is Obi-Wan, Louis is Satine, and somehow there’s a love story between the cracks where there shouldn’t be.
If that’s not it, LMK. But, as a rule, AO3’s filter system works quite well. It’s easier than waiting for me to answer.

So, my dad's been watching Asokha, and while I want watch it, I need to rewatch Rebels first. However, I have come to the realization that when they were making Chopper, I feel like they wanted to make him like R2 but more polite, but instead of politeness, they added a touch of teenage girl-ness
And it only makes me love him more

Obi-Wan Part V
I thought yesterday was Wednesday, and nearly looked for the new episode before realizing it was Tuesday. Then today, I forgot it was Wednesday and almost got spoiled before remembering to watch this episode.
Oh Anakin. Young Ani. Oh my sweet child. I never thought in my entire LIFE that I’d actually be happy to see the stupid Jedi rattail braid. But I’m happy to see it on Ani. I’ve literally forgotten for like 3 episodes now to check who is voicing Vader. Ok good they DID get back James Earl Jones. Yeah ok get all the people out now please please please. “He hasn’t the patience for a siege.” “How do you know?” Because the boy once dived out of a moving speeder. For some reason my brain was like “Imagine if we see Captain Phasma.” but I realized this is still 50+ years before we reach the sequels. “You trust me? I trust her.” People trusting Leia. I’m emotional. More Leia and Grogu parallels. Bail’s devotion to the Skywalker twins. He’s not sure if Leia and Obi-Wan are safe, so he’s planning at the very least to protect Luke if he can’t save his own adopted daughter. Guys help me. Help. I’m really emotional. Yay I was right!! I was right about Reva being a youngling! “I thought he was here to help us.” God that’s the worst part. When that kid comes out and says “Master Skywalker?” Fuck. For lack of better word, fuck. She played dead and hid with the other dead bodies. No wonder they put a warning before the episode.
Hey America. If we have to put warnings before sci-fi fantasy shows because the horrible thing that happens in the show is too close to things that happen in real life, then maybe, just maybe, THE COUNTRY HAS A PROBLEM.
“You’re not serving him, are you? You’re hunting him.” YES YES YES THANK GOD YES. I mean I don’t want Ani to be killed and I know he won’t be, but still YESSS. “Where were you while he was killing my friends?” Riding a lizard and battling a cyborg with 4 arms. “He was your Padawan.” Oof that guilt. No not Tala. No lightsaber? “You’re not bringing him to me, I’m bring him to you.” Ah so that’s his weaponless plan. Yeah I have feeling Obi-Wan’s just gonna let Reva fail while he escapes. OH MY GOD THE SPLIT SECOND OF REALIZATION THEN JUST HOLDING THE SHIP COMPLETELY WITH THE FORCE. OH MY GOD. Seriously, I forget how scary Vader is sometimes. He really is Space Jesus powerful. WOW. JUST TEARING IT UP. DOUBLE WOW. A SECOND SHIP. Yeah this was not gonna work out for Reva. God I love the spinning saber though. Was that double-wield moment a reference to Asokha? I’m hurting. She’s so flashy and he’s barely trying. So he knew she was a youngling. But did he know at the time when he stabbed her that she was still alive, and he chose to just let her die rather than ensure she was dead? That’d be ironic since Obi-Wan would do that to him only a few hours later on... god I’m so sleep deprived. The lava planet. You’d think he wouldn’t make the same mistake twice though, stabbing her and leaving her to die. Also I thought he’d pull a Count Dooku and use both sabers to cut off her head. That would have been fun and more efficient. Oh nooo. Earlier when they were talking through the door I was like “Reva knows about Ani, but she still doesn’t know these kids are his kids... right?” And she just found Bail’s communicator, so she’s gonna know now isn’t she? Yep. Great. Reva my girl please don’t. And there’s little baby Luke. Let the boy be please.
While checking IMDB to make sure it was James voicing Vader, I saw the Part V was so far the highest rated episode. I see why. There was a lot of pain. And a lot of realizations.
But GOD I hate when life parallels the sci-fi I’m watching. Stranger Things and Obi-Wan needing warnings. And when I rewatched Torchwood: Children of Earth in 2018 I accidentally coincided the rewatch with the first revelations of Drumpf’s family separation policies. Ugh. It’s not fun when sci-fi is this realistic.
I’m sad about Tala though. But I’m glad I got to see my girl Indira in this show.
