Why does NHS decide to destroy JGY’s entire legacy? Couldn’t he have just had him murdered discreetly?

OK, so, Nie Mingjue wasn't just some guy who was betrayed and poisoned to death by his sworn brother in a personal matter that could be fixed with a quick eye-for-an-eye of revenge.

Nie Mingjue was the cultivation leader to arguably the most powerful sect after the Sunshot Campaign. The Jin Sect wanted the sway and authority that the Wen Sect once had over all the other sects and Jin Guangshan wanted to be as feared and admired as Wen Ruohan once was, but it was the Nie Sect and Nie Mingjue who were actually in position to taking that step if they wanted it. Which they didn't. The Nie Sect rose up from being buchers to being leaders through hard-work and self-sacrifice. That was their legacy. It was a good and honest one from what we know.

And Jin Guangyao's legacy involved bringing the Nie Sect to its knees when he destroyed Nie Mingjue. Jin Guangyao turned Nie Mingjue into a wild animal, less than a butcher, by destroying his mind. Nie Huaisang, who never wanted to be sect leader, becomes little more than a puppet for Jin Guangyao at first, by all means fully dependent on Jin Guangyao helping him run the Nie Sect. And while the Nie Sect remain one of the great sects, they are no longer players in the game.

But Jin Guangyao destroyed so much more than just a man. He destroyed a brotherhood, a family, a sect, a legacy.

And then as Nie Huaisang continued investigating, he learned of so many other lives Jin Guangyao destroyed along the way. He likely learned of Xue Yang being allowed to escape and Yi City. He learned of Jin Guangshan and the 25 prostitutes. He learned of the prostitute Jin Guangyao kept imprisoned for a decade. He learned of the massacre at the site where Guanyin Temple was built. He learned of Qin Su and Jin Rusong.

Nie Mingjue was not the only victim. At the end of the day, it wasn't just about Jin Guangyao vs Nie Mingjue anymore.

So why should Jin Guangyao have been killed discreetly? Did he deserve to be mourned by the masses, praised as the first and most pristine chief cultivator they will ever have, and his legacy carried on proudly and honorably for generations to come as some kind of martyr? Did he have a right to keep his murals and monuments and whatever else he had built to honor himself? After all the shit he pulled and lives he destroyed to make that legacy of his??

Come on, Anon! There was no way in hell someone like Jin Guangyao should be allowed to take his winnings with him to the grave after robbing the world of her treasures. Jin Guangyao fucked around and it was his time to find out.

I can’t do that; which is why I’m asking you to. #also: a bunch of tags are surprised this isn’t ‘shopped #it’s the lighting. backlit by the sun (which is diffused through the water) but also forelit artificially #the artificial light - a flash pack or something - casts a hard shadow under the creatures arm #which normally wouldn’t be possible if backlit by the SUN; you’d see a less-hard/more-fragmented shadow above water #as light sources ‘compete’ in a sense - and since there aren’t any light sources which can outshine the literal sun #it looks a bit weird when the darkest shadow is being cast from any other origin point - which is what’s essentially happening here #I don’t know the mechanics of how light travels through water; but I know the effect is substantial even with relatively short distances #also: it’s been balanced and color corrected by the author of the photo - who made deliberate choices to bring out the full potential #so it’s not like it’s a fresh and untouched export #but the kind of ‘tacked on’ appearance of the creature is a result of the lighting conditions within the image

Batman grunts a greeting at the boy Selena has introduced as "Danny" as if it's totally normal for a kid to be hanging out on a rooftop with her, kicking his legs out above the edge as if he's not 20 stories up.

Selena shares an equally amused glance with Danny that has Batman scowling harder than his usual as the boy gets up, stretching out from his hunch to reveal a 6 foot 2 build not unlike Jason's.

"Wow, spot on," Danny whistles, grinning at Selena. "I owe you a twenty."

"Darling," Selena purrs, hand finding purchase on his upper bicep. "I never exaggerate."

"Looks like Catwoman's got a new scratching post, B," Nightwing cackles in his comm, which is probably why Batman finds himself gritting out a--

"Little young for you, isn't he?"

The kid--in a hoodie and jeans, seriously, where did Selena find this guy--stares at him incredulously before his mouth stretches into an uncomfortably wide grin, revealing fairly sharp canines. He strides forward.

"What can I say, Mr. The Batman," he says, placing a hand on the man's shoulder. He must be around the same age as Dick. "I've got a thing for powerful women in black."

"See you for dinner tomorrow Lena," he says, hand lifted in farewell as he heads for the edge. He pushes himself over the wall with one hand, dropping over.

Batman clocks Selena's lack of alarm and doesn't flinch. Thirteen seconds later, there's no resounding thud when Danny's body would've met the pavement and she's still smirking at him.

"No metas in Gotham," he growls.

Selena throws her head back and laughs. "If I see any, I'll be sure to call. Now," she kisses his cheek, "I better go. I've got a date tomorrow."

hey guys! I just wanted to say that all the attention and support that my silly fancomic is getting is as amazing as it is overwhelming. All the kind words and fanart are so validating and wonderful and I’m so happy that people seem to enjoy my work!

That being said, I do just want to give everyone a gentle reminder that this is just a fancomic, posted for free on Tumblr. I don’t get paid for it (aside from the occasional kofi), I’m not a professional in any way, and nothing about my comic is canon or canon-adjacent or associated with Zag at all. It’s 100% just a labor of love, I’m just some person on the internet with a drawing tablet and too much free time, and I’m really just doing this for fun.

This is all to say, it can be kind of strange stumbling across disappointed analysis posts on my dash (written like I’ll never see them) or getting asks that seem to have certain expectations of me and the comic that I’m making purely as a hobby. I do understand it, and on some level I should have expected it, because this dumb comic of mine really blew up in a way that I never would have predicted. I just know that no matter what, with the amount of eyes on it, it’s going to disappoint some people— probably a lot of people— and people are going to have expectations of me that I’m not going to be able to meet. And that’s okay, there’s nothing I can really do about it, and I’m going to keep working on this story that I initially wrote self-indulgently for my own entertainment, but... yeah.

I guess TLDR: I’m just some tumblr user. I’m on this platform too, and I do see the posts people make about my work. I never meant to make my comic come across as anything more significant than just another piece of fanwork.

deeply refreshing to see someone critical of Swift who also like, genuinely likes her. Like i'm neutral to positive on her, but the online discourse has been absolutely rancid. flipping between "Taylor Swift has never done anything wrong ever and she's a fucking genius" and "Taylor Swift is the worst lyricist of all time and also a bad person" is exhausting, so thank you for like. nuance or something lmao

not to make it serious for a sec but i genuinely think that being able to like things that are bad is really important. like I think that it's an important skill to be able to look at something and see what you personally enjoy about it and then take a step back and acknowledge that objectively it's flawed. and to also be able to acknowledge that liking something isn't necessarily an identity or a moral stance. and i think that fandom space in general could really benefit from more people taking the time to learn how to do that. it's okay to like things that are bad

Sometimes I feel like I lurk on my own blog because it has been a long time and hello!! It's funny to think about but I'm the same: ruojue is still the ship I ship. No other ship has competed with my desire to write for it even after all this time and there are still so many stories left unexplored! A Major Problem(TM) in my personal life has finally been resolved so maybe there will be more content when the dust settles!

Oh my though, I need to get back to Heliocentric so I can slap a fancy Completed on that bad boy. (The guilt of having left you hanging with that dramatic moment is real lmao.) What are your thoughts on the two other monkeys? Idk if you ever heard of them, but it's the Red Bottom Ape and Long Armed Gibbon.

i actaually had some pretty lore heavy origin story hcs for those guys a couple of years ago, but i dont think i ever posted them. ill put some of the old art here and paste the lore under a cut cause its LONG (replaced the old swk and maq in the last pic with some more recent ones bc my hcs for them changed so much lmao)

their lore was well researched i spent days on it but it was a couple years ago lmao, its based on the principals they represent plus which of yin/yang they represent

long armed gibbon- can seize the sun and the moon, distinguish the auspicious from the inauspicious, and manipulate planets and stars

gibbon was born when a seed from a fir tree fell from heaven to earth. it landed on top of an eroded mountian and a tree started growing. after several hundred years, when the tree stretched high enough and was wise enough and the pine cones had gone from dark purple to blue, the trunk split one day at sunrise on a blue misty morning and gibbon walked into the world

red-buttocked horse monkey- who has knowledge of yin and yang, understands human affairs, is adept in its daily life and able to avoid death and lengthen its life

horse was born from a drop of water flung from a trough in heavens stables (part of the reason swk was so pleased to guard the horses when he went)

when she fell to earth she became a river that people often visited and talked around and played in. from this she came to understand human affairs. she also found she could help creatures avoid death or prolong their life by feeding their crops. when she knew enough, she climbed out of the river at sundown and walked into the world

sun wukong, the wise stone monkey- who knows transformations, recognizes the seasons, discerns the advantages of earth, and is able to alter the course of planets and stars

stealing from nezha reborn where the myth goes that when nüwe patched the sky, the leftover stone was where swk came from, but im changing it to one of the tiles that was used to create the furnace was dropped, leaving a monkey sized gap where he could later on slot into to keep himself alive in there. the tile was knocked out of the basket by the wind and fell to earth and this was the only one that landed on ffm. you know the story here, he absorbed chi from heaven AND earth which is why hes so powerful

six eared macaque- who has a sensitive ear, discernment of fundamental principles, knowledge of past and future, and comprehension of all things

macaque was born very suddenly when a piece of moon rock broke off and fell to earth on a new moon. the resulting meteor created a huge and sudden flash of light in a forest which created hundreds of stark shadows at once. the shadows condensed and the resulting being wouldnt have lived if it hadnt been a new moon because he needed the next hours of darkness to collect himself into a full being. but before the night was done, a new monkey was born who was able to hear everything in the radius he had collected shadows from, which if youve ever seen a meteor flash, is a long way

somethin interesting abt the things that created them- swks tile was actually heavenly, which is why he represents primarily yang (heaven). his was the only one that was CRAFTED BY heaven. gibbon and horse are both from something that fell from heaven and then the earth changed its form (the tree grew on earth from a heavenly seed, and the drop of water became a river) whereas macaque, representing the yin is fully of earth, the meteor that created him was from heaven but he didnt directly come from the meteor, he came from the shadows it created on earth. his only connection is to the earth
