Okay so a fic related ask - for the Valinor fic do you know who Sigrid and Tilda want to bring back?

Bain and his family did not come back when Bard and the girls did, so they're definitely up there, though the girls are trying to think of others above themselves - but there's Bain, Lotta his wife, Brand, Astrid and Ingrid their children, Marta who is Brand's wife, and possibly others, I haven't worked out whether Astrid and Ingrid marry and/or have kids yet

Imrahil, for Legolas, because no matter how much he says that he knows Imrahil is at peace and all is right, he still misses him awfully, and the temptation to ask for him back when he accompanied his mother to yell at the Valar was very strong (but he knew somehow that if he asked for Imrahil, they wouldn't send Bard back, and Bard was who they needed at that moment)

Arwen and Aragorn, yes I know the whole point in canon is that they won't come back, but this is my AU and I'll be self-indulgent if I want to. Besides, Celebrían misses Arwen terribly, Elrond and the twins miss them both, and Sigrid wants to do something for them as they've done so much for her and her Ada

Thorin, Fíli and Kíli, although Sigrid is worried that when Kíli comes back Tauriel won't need her any more (Tauriel will very much still need her)

Rosie, for Sam, and possibly at least some of their children

Possibly Merry and Pippin (I haven't decided yet whether all the the Fellowship come back by default, and if they do, whether all their friends come back, although the temptation to do something nice for Boromir is enormous, and if he's coming back then Faramir and Éowyn and Éomer and Lothíriel, it's going to get crowded)

And then we're on to the people that Sigrid and Tilda and their friends don't know personally, such as Aegnor and Andreth

And Bëor and probably others who are dear to Finrod - there is a running joke in this 'verse and @lemurious' stuff (it was her idea) about songs being sung about Finrod's Many Lovers, and it amuses me greatly, but I can't remember offhand, other than Bëor, who they might have been (Barahir?)

Possibly Beren and Lúthien, although I'm going to have to introduce Thingol and Melian first, and before I introduce them I'm going to have to get Thranduil's parents in

Haleth, much as Auriel is not fond of the idea of doing something nice for a Fëanorian, uncle of hers or not

And that's about as far as I've got, although I'm sure there are other Silm people who probably ought to be at least asked if they want to return. I'm less worried about them, though, as they have less connection to the central characters and their circle, and I'm going to struggle to fit all of the above in as it is. :D

I'm drawing a blank on oversharing questions so, um... What is something unexpected about you, that most people wouldn't guess?

I was born and raised in the US, but English wasn't my first language. My mom is from Germany, and she made sure we all spoke German at home. I learned English from my older siblings and PBS children's programming, and I was fluent in both languages by the time I got to kindergarten.

As a result of growing up bilingual, sometimes my English phrasing gets a little, um... Germanesque, and I have to ask an English-as-a-first-language person to tell me if what I've written/said makes sense. I also have a propensity toward overuse of commas because of the German rattling around in my brain.

...pay attention to their tattoos, haircuts, and their jewelry in my art, there are hints and clues to how far time and their relationship has progressed there (especially with the claddagh rings and how they are worn, im super deliberate with that!) I can promise lots of roadtrips in the future, elvis impersonators, ghosts, monsters, and on-going together adventure for a long time ahead at least! oh and read the halloween interruption episode from a couple of years ago, its set several years past ML and SD, the hotel one and its quite possible that ones canonical.

Okay, so for THG it would be Haymitch but also to some extent, Beetee. I find them the closest to relate to for a few reasons - one being that they refuse to play by the Capitol's rules when they're in the Games. Haymitch uses his wits and sheer will to live to beat the Games and refuses to bow down to them. Like Haymitch, I too would have paid the price for my insolence, but never would I have let them change how I felt about them. Like Haymitch, I would throw myself fully into a rebellion, but would also watch out for the ones alongside me. Beetee because much like him, I believe all of these problems stem from the laws of man, and laws which are written by men can be unwritten. In TBOSAS, it's - bear with me - Lucy Gray Baird and Coriolanus Snow. Much like Lucy Gray Baird and Coriolanus, I am no one else's side but my own and of those of the people I love. But at the same time, I do believe it is our duty to preserve our innate goodness and to stay on the right side of things. Like Coriolanus, I know the strain that struggling to survive can take on a person. I understand what it's like to deal with the fallout of traumatic events, the PTSD and the irreparable damage it does to your psyche. Having nothing but your wits and your name to further your survival is another thing.

Frankly? Coriolanus. He's not entirely evil, and he's not entirely a victim of his circumstances. He wasn't born a monster, but it does not change the fact that he chose to become one. He's proof that evil acts are a choice, and that such people do not exist in a vacuum. They are all products of the systems they grow up in, and these systems aid and abet their actions, and even encourage them. People like him are all common - people who have loved ones, who can feel remorse and pain and regret, who hurt and love and cry and laugh. What makes him one of the worst (and best written) villains is that he had every opportunity, every guiding light, to be good - and he chose to let his worst impulses and his most craven aspects guide him.

Hmm. I would love to get to know Plutarch Heavensbee better. He's someone who was born and raised in the Capitol, and I want to know someone who grew up in such an insular and indoctrinated environment turned into a rebel. I also want to get to know Lucy Gray Baird better. I want to learn everything about her - I wish I could be friends with her.

So a thought I've been having for a few weeks now of kryptonians and mild colour blindness. Like, if they lived under a red sun, and predominantly lived there, they probably had *some* colour blindness, right?? I mean, i guess they couldve been genetically engineered for that to like. Not happen but then I'd be petitioning for them to have a wayyy wilder sense of sight and perception of colours. Anyway it also led to mild colourblind kara thoughts and her arguing with everyone about it djdjdkf

Ok honestly I've wondered about that too bc if Krypton is a red sun planet and they supposedly had flora and fauna before the war that inevitably collapsed the planet, it would be adapted to that darker "sweet spot" for life to grow. Like would the plants be darker (blacks, deep greens, purples, reds?) and would the animals and kryptonians have altered vision and metabolism to make up for the lack of light? Like would we be seeing more bioluminescence (let kara glow in the dark, it would be funny)? Would they have better low light vision and even dark vision? Would they have heightened hearing or even echolocation?

It is canon that kryptonians started growing clones of themselves to use as basically free extra parts to extend their lives during the golden age (i may be getting a few details wrong here, it's been a minute since i looked at my notes and stuff) (The reason the civil war began is bc anti-clone kryptonians wanted to prove that those bodies were real people (and they did! bodily and mental autonomy for the win!).). SO it is very plausible that there was more genetic engineering to benefit their race and their existence on this red sun planet since most of the population was using this technology as opposed to natural birth. That would make a more interesting take on Kara's senses and powers on a yellow sun planet since she was supposedly conceived in one of these tubes (kal/clark was the first kryptonian in generations to be created (lol) the "old" way bc he had the luck of his parents loving each other and not solely together for political purposes via the matricomp).

Also it would just lead to some really cool ways to play with her powers, give a different way to play with her heat vision and x-ray vision (even her hearing), and kick off a huge social media hubub when Supergirl accidentally reveals that she's weirdly color blind.

📓 list your current WIPs argh well there are All I Want Is You and Break You But You'll Mend both of which I have been intending to work on for EVER and not getting round to >.< and the Twins-make-their-Choice fic which has been stalled for two years, and part whatever-it-is-now of It's Always Been You and Stars and Arrows AND the everlasting novel Two of a Kind, and I am working on precisely NONE of them. I need to have a proper sit-down and sort them all out, but it will not be this day. Maybe over the holidays...

🎧 your favourite singer/band is going to write an album about a fic of yours - which fic and what would the album be like? This is a tiny bit of a cheat, because most of my favourite artists make music that totally doesn't align with the sort of fic I write XD but a long LONG time ago I self-published a novel, and it was absolutely inspired by Beloved by VNV Nation and a bunch of their other songs so I'd love to think of what they might have created if they'd actually been given the novel to make a soundtrack for it.

🎬 which fic would you want to see made into a movie or tv show? (Assuming obviously this can happen) Go into details about why and what you’d want it to look like! omg. I would absolutely LOVE for Empty Vessel-verse to be a movie. Series of movies. Lavishly budgeted TV series. Actors from the LotR/Hobbit series mostly playing their characters with the addition of Paisley Billings as Maudie (Bard's wife) because she has EXACTLY Maudie's chaotic energy, and Rosamund Pike as Auriel (Thranduil's wife). I'm not very visually-inclined so I haven't any other facecasts but I am prepared to be swayed by your idea of Riz Ahmed as Imrahil (he's a bit young though...hmmm...oooh wait what about Ramon Tikaram? hmmm...). The closest I've ever seen to my idea of the Twins was a piece of art that nobody seems to know who originally made it, although I'm happy to let Jason Secto do it (he's the dark-haired one who appears twice in two different places in Arwen's arrival at Minas Tirith in RotK and one of these days I will make that crazy red-string-filled Tumblr post explaining my theory; he also played Orophin in Fellowship).
