I love how the devs seem to have used microscopic images as a reference to make their alien world feel more alien.

end of the year study masterlist

I have made this kind of post a few times in the past. I have lots to keep in mind and although I do have very specific to-do lists in my bullet journal I like to have a big list on here too to make me feel accountable. This helps me having a clear overview of everything I have to do and the progress I am making. I will be crossing things off as I complete tasks, and I will probably add more tasks every once in a while. This is meant to be a sort of preparation for winter exams to do list, I haven't given myself deadlines yet, but the more I get done soon the better. I also want to keep in mind that I am still doing the self care journey 3.0 with my friend @oneardentstudybuddy, so productivity is the goal here but I still need to keep an eye out to avoid burning myself out, and take time in my days to actively take care of myself.

English lit: this whole list has now been deleated because I decided to move my exam from January to April, so I will be working on all this stuff after my winter exam session.

Still, he chuckled at her noticeable silence.       “You’re half right,” Lukas admitted. “Love the beach, hate the people on it. Jade photographs potential locations deep within the forest. He captures the stages of death in permanence: the horrified countenance of your lover when they realize he’s holding a knife in his hand, the aftermath of a brutal slaughter, the perfectly, methodically dismembered corpse with all of its parts packaged in plastic and aligned in a grave dug deep, the mound of soil that soon covers the evidence, and the beautifully rare flowers or tree saplings he plants directly above the body.

Jade develops these photos in the makeshift dark room in his apartment. They’re well-done, but that’s how all of his work is. Eerily flawless. Recently, he learned where you live. It took some digging and lots of patience, but he’s good at uncovering forbidden things. When the time comes to take you, he’ll have to bring his camera along. He’d love to see what expressions he can photograph when he catches you by surprise. And he anticipates every photo will be far better than any of the previous ones he’s taken. After all, they’ll contain you and the raw, beautiful emotions you’ll show him. That’s something he’ll never be able to find in the average magazine.

Also, thinking about Snow being only eighteen when all of this happens reminds me of what it felt like reading the hunger games and constantly realizing these characters were only children, but it specially reminds me how I felt about Katniss.

You read about how her life's been like since she's been 11 up until the reaping day and you think that's enough misery, she's had it too hard and too bad, but then it gets much worse and after the hunger games end I kinda felt like her life wasn't too bad, perhaps she felt the same way, actually she just wanted to go home, it didn't matter how hard it had been before the games, all she wanted was to go home.

And then I was thinking about how Snow (I think it's probably a universal agreement not to call him Corio) also suffered poverty and hunger as a child, and grew up hiding it from everyone else, and held on to the hope of getting out of it with all his might, and you think that is enough tragedy for a character, but then it gets worse, and suddenly the movie ends and I think of Snow before the games, with his long blond hair and school uniform, I can only think that was just a child who's greatest struggle was getting good grades and winning the prize that would end his and his family's poverty, but in the end, he has killed, and betrayed, and decided the path he is going to follow. I don't know, I just think having power takes a toll after all, no matter how cruel one is, it's got be a heavy toll to bear
