Avalon has gone through many pregnancies while at the gates of heaven. He’s been doing it for centuries now. The most he had was 10 cherubs at once. He was proud that every single one of his children help out, but he had this inkling that he was being forgotten.
None of the angles acknowledge his, Silene’s and Mherrick’s efforts to keeping the gates functional. All they see are impure beings. As if they’re seeing demons in their doorstep.
At every delivery, Ava wasn’t even allowed to see his newborn’s face. The archangels didn’t want unnecessary “baggage” arising from Ava, so they made the decision that once a cherub was born, they would make no physical contact with their parent. Not even a finger.
All he wonders is if they’re alright. Do they know about him? And the decuplets? Are they together? Do they even know they have siblings? He can’t help but think differently from other cupids. He was created to produce, but all he wants is to be a parent…to someone.
Is it his mistake to think more like a human? And what would Avalon’s father think about all this? ~
He just doesn’t want to be Purged. Or worse- end up like the rest of the cupids who came before him. Lost as an incubus.

Heh, so, I come from a fandom where character names have major significance, which means I promptly checked for that with Warrior Nun. I already knew a lot of catholic lore due to reasons, which meant I could guess certain character arcs, but boy howdy am I glad I checked some hunches.
Ava Silva, given the show's setting, would be Eve (rather than one of the convergent latin or germanic origins, with different meanings). Eve is the english translation of 'chavah', which is more description than name proper. Which in turn (very) roughly translates from hebrew as "giver/protector of life". This role of the mother remains unchanged by expulsion from Eden.
Notice how the halo always gives out quickly if used for violence, aggression or the taking of life, but ramps up like a champ if protecting and/or healing, even if it appeared to have gone empty moments earlier? While it is controlled through mental state, especially the one triggered by meditative thought, it clearly prioritizes the preservation of life. Eg; when Suzanne fell into despair and probably felt like dying over the prior Mother Superion's death, the halo made a quick exit.
Shotgun Mary: Mary Magdalene, the apostle of apostles, was the closest to Jesus (the halo-bearer) and witnessed his death. Eventually gets conflated with Mary of Bethany, and subsequently slandered every which way. Since the show's character seems to have a criminal background, she's likely meant to be both of them.
Lilith: From jewish mythology and folklore. The first woman, created to be equal to man, and rejecting subservience. Lots of story variations for her. Might've hooked up with the archangel Samael, after which she could not return to the garden of eden because that angel was kind of a demon, and subsequently becomes the mother of all demons. So show Lilith was first in line of halo succession, was robbed of that role by Ava, went to another realm, hooked up with a fallen archangel, but ultimately refused subservience to him.
Sister Beatrice: Saint Beatriz da Silva (*coughs pointedly*), a beautiful and accomplished illegitimate child of a nobleman, raised in a royal court, but wound up imprisoned in a tiny cell. (A proverbial closet, one might say). Went on to found a new order after she was freed. I don't think I even need to add to this one.
Sister Camila: Saint Camilla Battista, a vivacious young noblewoman fond of musical arts, who experienced numerous visions, and struggled with temptation. Show Camila is indeed slightly whimsical, musical, and enduring unwanted visions of an ex-archangels (and therefore arch-demon) and his pitiful idea of temptation.
Miguel: the Archangel Michael who appears at the moment of death, offering salvation. Yup, goes to the show's version of Eden, comes back super-powered, but his function is to mete out death. Pretty straight-forward.

Random Darksiders thoughts/headcanons for possible doodles and/or drabbles:
With the Well of Souls being corrupted and quite frankly out of service, upon granting his final request, Death toke Hunter's soul with him. With the intention of delivering him safely to the well himself. Hunter remains dormant for a short time before 'waking up' with a million questions for the Reaper. Against his better judgment, Death took a sit down and played 20 questions with Hunter. To ease the tension, The Horseman first question was about Boy Scouts...
Together again with her brothers, Fury is dead set on becoming a better sibling, despite her lingering doubts that it could even be possible. Still, she tries. Especially with War. Eventually, her lingering fears of the past has her slowly reverting back to some of her old ways. Leading to War pulling Fury aside for a much needed talk...
Out of all his siblings, Strife hates working with Death alone. Everything about his older brother ticks him off, and he KNOWS that Death hates him. Well, maybe at most tolerates him, but most of the time, it's hate. But when an ambush attack nearly leads to tragedy, Strife soon learns just how wrong he is....
The Land of the Dead is no better off than it was before, or even before that. And Draven knows it. The BladeMaster is not the same man as he was when he was flesh and bone. But he still has ambitions. And they have grown over the eons of servitude. Yet this time, it'll be for a far greater reason than just simple conquest. The souls of his kind are wailing for vengeance, and he will answer the call...
Darksiders OC Stuff:
Ava has an unlucky encounter with the Demon Queen herself. Snatched from the protective horsemen, Lilith attempts to sway the human to her means. Yet the Mad Queen reminds Ava of someone of her past. And to Lilith's surprise, Ava rejects her advances with anger kept hidden for nearly a lifetime...
An Archangel with dangerous intent, feeds into Ava's mind memories of Eden, the human banishment from the garden, and the nephilim invasion soon after. Yet it was the memories of the horsemen killing their brethren that stuck out the most. And it was Death's chilling cry of anguish, that broke her completely...
(...OK I think I need to start thinking more happy stuff ^_^;)

Alright that’s it, got tired of people bitching about Lilith. So, lets get into the deep dive, shall we?
It is well known (in the WN fandom, at least) that Lilith is the first wife of Adam, expulsed from Eden after she refused to submit to him. She then partnered up with the Archangel Samael, head of the Satans, which is probably the Adriel equivalent of the Bible.
(Yes, we could have guessed that they would fuck. It was literally written for thousands of years.)
There are many versions of Lilith, of course, as with everything, but she is very often referred to as a demon of the night, often very hot, with long hair and wings (no I am not making this up).
Tumblr media
I think the scene where she goes to see her family is very important. You don’t give your character a butterfly shirt if some shit is not about to happen. I think it’s also well thought, because this puts her even more as the opposite of Ava. Something got shoved into her (the halo vs tarask claw), she came back to life, now she has powers that she didn’t ask for and don’t know how to control, or just generally why. Why her. Both went to Jillian for answers but couldn’t be helped. Both went back to where it all started, Lilith’s family and Ava’s orphanage. I didn’t really go well for either of them. After wandering for a bit, Ava went back to the OCS, even after what Superion and Lilith did to her. She found someone there who believed in her and supported her, so she stayed, and became what they needed her to be.
It was probably added after the fact, but it has been showned that Lilith got Ava, Beatrice and Camila away from Adriel in the last scene of s1. That means Lilith also left Mary there to die. Imagine how much that must have fucked her up. I too would be hesitant to show up at the OCS. She can’t go back there, and that “other side”, the one that would reflect Ava’s journey, is Adriel. So she went to him, and he believed in her and supported her. She became what he needed her to be.
This new Lilith is becoming more and more like the Lilith from the myths. Thing is, that character is… evil? And there are hints in season 2 to her becoming more like that. First, Lilith is supposed to have some sort of control on wind and storms. Adriel says in their first meeting that the storm around them was made by Lilith, but he also makes wind in his final fight with Ava? It’s hard to know if he was making that first storm to manipulate her, or if Lilith really was making a storm without meaning to.
Tumblr media
When Lilith is chasing Vincent early in the season, we are presented with this beautiful mural. I had to ask some friends, some say its just some art that was on the wall, some say it’s a mural that was made for the show. I decided to go with that last idea, simply because of the drawing on the right (and it’s more fun this way).
Lilith, according to pretty much everything she appears in, is a baby killer. Which, huh, isn’t great! She kills newborn babies, or sometimes pregnant people, or sometimes just people in general. And that graffiti, seen while Vincent is being chased by Lilith, feels kind of on purpose.
(If you’re asking about the other character drawn, I can only hope that this is Adriel’s hairy ass, a demon with a nicer mask, but I have big doubts about that. I think it’s Asmodeus, and we’re about to meet him in s3, cause Lilith is also seen as his queen in some writings, and wouldnt that be cool?!)
I have been obsessively reading on Lilith since I watched the season, and I remember reading somewhere that Lilith has a realm, somewhere, according to Something. But I cannot find it again, so this is all pulled out of my ass, don’t take this for gold. But I’m pretty sure I read somewhere about Lilith having a realm, and leading hordes of demons. If I did really saw that and it wasn’t a fever dream, then I really hope that’s the way Warrior Nun goes.
At the end of s2, Lilith doesn’t have any desire to kill Ava, and some people were confused by that. For me, it’s just a big parallel to the end of s1. Lilith is constantly there to try (and fail) to stop Ava from Doing Something. Back then it was from freeing Adriel, now it was to stop him from using Reya’s power. Adriel hinted about a divine war, a devourer of world coming, and it make sense to think that he would have told all of that to Lilith. She’s smart, if she knows what’s coming and know that Adriel is gone, then she also knows that she might need Ava in the future. Who knows what’s coming! Not me! Even Lilith didn’t know if they would be on the same side. It would be stupid to kill someone that you might need later.
It’s is particularly funny to see people complain that she “turned evil”, considering Lilith has always been Bad. First scene we see her, and she’s waiting for Shanon to die so that she can take the Halo. She then tries to kill Ava to take the Halo. In the first few episodes of s2, she has no problem with hurting and killing people. Remember how much she enjoyed torturing Ava in the first episodes of s1. She was always morally grey at best, if not straight up bad.
Lilith is one of the most interesting characters of the show, and I say that only because so much thought has been put into Ava and I am obsessed with my Baetrice, so Lilith comes close third. The depth of her story is so good. The idea of making her the opposite of Ava, since the first episode of season 1, they are playing the long game. Ava started the show with nothing, and through trust and resilience, found a family and a purpose. Lilith started the show with everything, and through selfishness and refusing support, she lost her purpose and her family.
They didn’t “fuck up her arc” in season 2. This has always been her story.

Adriel being a reference to Lucifer, the angel at service of God who ended up rebelling against him and ended up expelled from Heaven and became the Devil. Lilith being a reference to the first Lilith, and she and Ava paralleling Lilith and Eve. Michael being Michael Archangel. Ava being Jesus; resurrected, ran on water, the Pietàs, brought Mother Superion—who would be Lazarus I guess—back from the dead, multiple cross imagery—she carries the Cruciform Sword, an actual cross, in her back, a symbol of her burden—, wore the Crown of Thorns, will likely come back in the third day...
Am I missing any biblical reference

Ava and Ariane. Originally as an illustration for Age of Angels, but, an idyllic scene isn't exactly what's supposed to happen. I hardly wish to spoil the story. At the same time, I'd need to warn people in the tags, anyway - there's an attempted fetal abduction. Ava manages to keep herself safe, until Adriel comes to her rescue with the OCS. Still, she goes into labor a month early, before she can reach a safe environment.
Maybe, the picture can represent the feeling of Ava at last holding Ariane in her arms, and knowing her daughter is okay.
Honestly, this better shows what I have in mind for the Ava is reincarnated Areala AU, or the Biblical AU. I mean, Michael the Archangel having a child with the Antichrist? Either a stroke of political genius, or sure way to end up on Dr. Phil.
I used a screencap from Medici for a reference. I like to think of Ava and Adriel as ushering in a new Renaissance. I even had the theme song in my mind.

Fuck... I just realized, Ava's orphanage was named St. Michael's. If she were the actual St. Michael, imagine her rage when it clicked. Her prison, where she was tormented, and killed, bore her own name. Imagine her bitterness. Damn, the angst.

Will you ever draw when Ava fell? Was there a trial that led up to it or did he just fall?? Would you mind explaining what happened please?
Yeah, all of those events are part of the comic I mentioned on the previous ask. I don’t wanna go too in-depth but I can say this:
1.) A trial did happen, once the archangels found out that Ava broke an essential law as a Cupid, and-
2.) It led to his fall, though that wasn’t his punishment. It was something else that pushed him to fall.

okay sorry for the poor fucking quality but oh my god. so i was rewatching warrior nun and found something that i hadn't seen on tumblr (or the first time watching it). bear with me here. so in the catholic religion, schools and orphanages run by a church are named after whatever patron saint the church is (a parish school). in the very first episode when the nun who {Spoiler Alert Ahead} killed ava the first time is leaving, after dropping off her murder victim, you can see the name of the orphanage on the side of the van she's getting into.
Tumblr media
IT'S ST FUCKING MICHAEL'S.
and since she brought ava there we can assume that specific church was also associated with the archangel michael. who michael is based off of. i'm shooketh
