The tale of Dáin Ironfoot, told loosely in the style of a saga of Iceland (in English translation).
Jarakrisafis posted a prompt to LOTR Secret Santa 2023 that said "I remember as a teenager reading the Silmarillion for the first time and wishing there was more about Dàin Ironfoot than was in the book and the appendices" specifying book rather than movie canon.
I read that and thought, ah, what an absolutely fascinating idea! I'm sure I could write that in a few hours! Also, what if I wrote it roughly in the style of an english translation of a saga from thirteenth century Iceland? Several months later... it's 12,000+ words. Whoops. It will be posted in chapters rather than the whole thing at once.
Thank you very much to Aprilertuile for beta reading this oddity.

Do you have wip fic recs? I'm trying to get back into reading Tolkien and would like to start with something that holds my interest for longer than a day simply because it's still in progress 😁
Sure!! Here are three fics I've been following very closely:
A Song In Stone by @eirianerisdar, sequel to The Ransom Of The House of Feanor, G, Elrond-centric
Finwean Correspondences on the Topic of the Edain (Posthumously Selected by Elrond Half-Elven) by Aprilertuile, CateWolfe, @dialux, Himring, @idrilsscribe, jane_ways, T, epistolary style
promise what you will by @athenaiskarthagonensis, M, Caranthir/Haleth
And there was another fic featuring Elrond and Elros getting transported back in time to Valinor during the Years of the Trees, but I can't find it anymore for some reason... This is what you get when you don't write down fic titles and authors, I suppose.
I hope this is what you're looking for, dear anon ✨

Middle-earth Museum Fanworks List
We had a dozen fanworks created for last month's Middle-earth Museum challenge. Below you will find a list of them. As always, links go to the Table of Contents, where you can learn more about the content before deciding to venture onward. If you find a fanwork you enjoy, please consider commenting to let the creator know. First Impressions by Grundy. Thingol trusts his kin above all others. When he receives word from Finrod, it is his young kin he sends to meet the representatives of the Noldor. In the Hills of Emerie by Himring. Ancalime in the hills of Emerie. And music. The Magic of the Loom by eris_of_imladris. Míriel’s loom contemplates an ending and a beginning. Memory of joy by Aprilertuile. Nerdanel sees an instrument that her second born used to play and remembers. The Mirror of Belegost by hennethgalad. Eowyn visits the Museum of Middle-Earth in Minas Tirith after the wedding of Aragorn and Arwen, where she meets Galadriel. Open Up The Door by Tyelca. Shortly after arriving in Valinor, Elwing needs to understand. Taking her husband Eärendil with her, she enters the abandoned manor where Fëanor used to live. A Scandal in Pants by LadyBrooke. After Nimloth's rebirth, she plots to scandalize the elves of Valinor with clothes. Anairë has worn this outfit before, and she knows it will not go over any better now than it did then. The Space Left Behind by Independence1776. Early in the Second Age, Elrond drags an orc-poisoned Maglor to Lindon. Hurt/comfort. To Look Across the Wide Seas by StarSpray. Elwing receives some unexpected news. A Walk down Memory Lane by Raiyana. The Story of the Courtship of Curufin, son of Fëanor, told via a collection of objects left behind in Aman. The Wanderer by Lyra. Since Maglor never officially died, it's fair to assume that he continued to wander the shores of the world. Here he is in the Anglo-Saxon age, somewhat down on his luck... Wedding Vows by Lyra. We don't know anything about the marriage of Caranthir except that he was married at some point. Here's a snapshot from the wedding ceremony.
Housekeeping Note: All stamp collections are up-to-date as of Wednesday. Please check your profile and make sure I have everything correct and let me know here or via email ([email protected]) if there is something that needs to be corrected. Please note that, going forward, I will not be checking for new comments on February's Breaking Boundaries challenge or anything older; if you need a commenter stamp for those challenges, please let me know.

My second submission for @tolkienrsb with the amazing Aprilertuile! @aprilertuileviresse
What of the early years of Berúthiel in Gondor, as a queen-to-be? She is alone, and friendships are scarce. But one day there is music.
My collaboration partner wrote a beautiful Maglor/Berúthiel AU where all need not take an established course.
What's next? Watch this space for a link and promo post to the upcoming story in early September!
Update : The story is now available in the TRSB2023 AO3 collection!

Maglor in the 1848 french revolution
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/6v7GkE3
by Aprilertuile
The Silmarillion says : "And it is told of Maglor that he could not endure the pain with which the Silmaril tormented him; and he cast it at last into the Sea, and thereafter he wandered ever upon the shores, singing in pain and regret beside the waves. For Maglor was mighty among the singers of old, named only after Daeron of Doriath; but he came never back among the people of the Elves."
So, what if Maglor had enough of the shores and just wandered the world?
Here is my take on Maglor living in France during the 1848 french revolution.
