Seven Plus One Happy Haunts (An 800 Followers Thank You)
Tumblr media
"NRC is having a culture festival?" You blurt out, immediately drawing the attention of everyone in your class. Normally this interruption would be met with a swift smack, but the thought doesn't even flicker across Crewel's mind much to the envy of your classmates. Instead, something similar to a stress headache seems to work it's way across his face as he takes a brief pause to breathe.
"I take it the Headmage has neglected to inform you of this?" He says it like a question, but really it sounds more like he is begging you to prove him wrong. "He was supposed to ask your permission."
"Permission for what?!" You try not to sound too panicked but that's difficult when Crewel's normal sternness re-emerges to silence Ace and Deuce's whispers.
"Sit!" He cracks his crop and returns to the black board. "And Yuu, once classes are done for the day, meet me back here. It will be much easier for me to explain things to you and Grim than sending you on a wild crow chase." Oh you don't like the sound of that at all. ~~~~ By the time classes are over, you are drooping under the weight of an entire school's worth of whispers and surprised you remember your way back to your Homeroom.
"Where's Grim?" Crewel asks, though he doesn't sound terribly worried. So it's bad news bad news.
"He decided to ditch me for Ace and Deuce and I didn't have the energy to chase him down, sorry." Your book bag drops with just as dramatic a thunk as you do.
"Let me make you a coffee, you are going to need some." Crewel sighs. "As you might be aware, culture festivals tend to involve things like booths and side show games."
"Typically they're run by the classes or clubs, right?" You aren't really liking where this is going.
"In anime and at normal schools yes. And if this had been any other year that would be the case for us too but someone-" the same tension headache from this morning reappears, "got the bright idea to suggest that we form groups by putting the entire student body into an ai generator of some sort to encourage team work or something like that."
"Oh." No wonder Crewel can't seem to tell the difference between the containers where he keeps the instant coffee packets and the wet wipes. "Are you ok? Is there anything I can do to help?"
"Very sweet of you to offer pup." He lets you take over the coffee and smiles gratefully when he sees you move to make him a tea. "But back to how this effects you, one of those groups got the bright idea to run a Haunted House, and the Headmage suggested they use Ramshackle for 'authenticity's sake' and generously offered them your assistance as well."
"Compared to some of the other things he's done I guess it could be worse?" Not that you are thrilled, your tone makes that clear. "I mean it's a haunted house, it could be fun. What is it you want me to help out with anyway?"
"That's what they've been arguing over." Crewel looks and sounds very, very tired as you finally notice the growing chatter of voices just outside the classroom door that is finally making an entrance alongside a very familiar face.
"I'm telling you, it makes the most sense for Yuu to help me!"

Hello!!
Um…
I really loved that one fic you wrote called “caged” with fable and legend, and I also really liked the sequel. I love how you described the scenes, it was really fun to read!
I saw that you were talking with another user about how legend got into the castle, and you mentioned that he probably got in through the secret passage way that he knows from alttp
I was wondering if maybe you were thinking about writing a prequel to that fic?
Maybe about how the chain lands in Legends Hyrule and they see Hyrule castle looming in the distance, perhaps under a spell of some kind and legend immediately runs towards it to find he can’t enter normally and he tells the chain that he does know of a way in. So they enter through the secret passageway and perhaps legend gets some flashbacks to alttp as they’re fighting monsters (or maybe brainwashed guards) and looking for fable.
It’s just a suggestion tho! I’m aware you have other stuff to do, so…
Uh anyways, I really liked this years whumptober fics a Lot too, they were all amazing! You are really such a talented writer!
That’s all, hugs!!🫂🫂🫂
I hope you have a nice day
So I wasn’t really thinking about writing a prequel at all, and I don’t do requests really but... well. The idea intrigued me, and I sat down and started writing, and this came out 😅
It’s minimally edited and certainly not my best work, but hey, it’s something. I hope you enjoy the little prequel anon, and thank you for the kind words :)
Caged
The sequel (Aftermath)
———————————————————
Again.
Again.
It was all Legend could think of as he stared at the castle in the distance, dread and anger and too many emotions for him to name making his hands shake.
They’d just exited a portal, landing in his Kakariko, and the relief of being back in his own time was immediately overshadowed by the oppressive dark magic in the air. Impa had found them soon after, and explained with a worried look in her eyes about a wizard who had tricked them, and overtaken the castle.
With Zelda inside.
The blood had begun to roar in Legend’s ears as Impa explained further, but he was barely listening anymore, his head spinning and chest tight with anger.
She’s in danger again, the kingdom’s in trouble again, and I wasn’t here to protect—
“Legend, what should we—?”
He took off.
He ignored the shouts of the others, the calls for him to wait up, and booked it towards the castle, his pegasus boots making it impossible for the other heroes to keep up with him. Rain had begun to fall at some point, but Legend didn’t let it stop him, not even when he nearly wiped out in a puddle.
He reached the castle gates in mere minutes, and banged a fist on the doors. They were shut tight though, sealed with magic that Legend knew he wouldn’t be able to break. But he pounded against them anyway, took out one of his rods and blasted at it, tried his rings and items and all sorts of things before finally kicking at them with an angry yell.
The others had caught up to him by then, and they joined his side, split evenly between looking at him and looking up at the gates.
“How are we going to get in?” Wind asked a little hesitantly, and Legend sighed, swiping some drops of rain off his face.
“I know a way.”
He’d hoped he wouldn’t have to use it, but it looked like it was the only way they could get inside.
Legend led them all around to the east side of the castle, the group’s weapons drawn and eyes squinted through the rain for any enemies. It was only a passing shower, not a torrential thunderstorm like the last time he’d used this passage, but the similarities still made Legend tense.
History sure does love repeating itself.
More then one concerned look was shot his way as they went, but Legend ignored them, as well as the memories that were trying to claw their way to the forefront of his mind. He had a job to do and a princess to save, and he wasn’t going to get lost in his head.
Even though this was at least the fourth time he’d done this and he was so tired of evil striking at his kingdom and the people he loved and having to stop them again and again. He wasn’t going to think about it.
Not now.
They didn’t run into any monsters on the way to the other side of the castle, which made Legend suspicious, but he wouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth. He quickly revealed the secret passage that would lead them inside, and gestured the others in.
“That’s convenient,” Wild commented, and Warriors studied the passage in interest.
“Are you the only one who uses this tunnel? Seems like a security risk.”
“Only a few people know it exists,” Legend replied, then dropped in so he wouldn’t have to continue the conversation.
Legend took the lead as they began to walk down the tunnel, and kept himself several paces in front of the others, his shoulders slowly hitching upward.
Water dripped as they walked along the passage, running on the edges and making the floor damp. There weren’t any monsters in this spot either, which made it easy for Legend to stride as quickly as possible past the spot where his uncle had breathed his last.
He hated being down here. He hated the reason he was down here and the slimy feel of the floor under his boots, and the smell in the air and the squeak of rats he hated it.
And was it his imagination, or was he smelling blood?
“Legend?”
Legend breathed in sharply as a hand landed on his shoulder, and he looked over at Twilight, the older hero giving him a searching look. They were nearly to where the dungeons connected, he didn’t want to stop now.
“You alright?” Twilight asked, and Legend let out a bitter laugh.
“Sure, I love coming home to find out the kingdom got taken over in my absence. And nobody knows what happened to my Zelda, and getting to tromp around in the sewers, I’m having the time of my life, thanks,” he snapped. “What’s one more crisis for the kingdom of Hyrule?”
Twilight’s hand didn’t leave his shoulder. “Legend.”
Legend stopped in his tracks and glared back at Twilight, gripping his sword so tightly he was sure it was leaving lines in his palms. “What.”
“We’ll save her, Legend,” Twilight said firmly, and gave his shoulder a bracing squeeze. “You’re not alone. You’ve got us this time— whatever this wizard is capable of is no match for all nine of us. We’ll save Zelda, and the kingdom. We’ll stop this together.”
Legend stared, then looked behind Twilight to where the rest of the Links were standing, and they all gave him equally determined looks. Their eyes were bright and fierce, and full of just as much resolve to save Zelda as his own were.
Legend felt his eyes sting, but he forced himself to blink the tears back, and nodded at Twilight, breathing out as some of the emotions storming in his chest eased a bit.
Twilight released his shoulder, and Legend turned back around, waving them all onward.
“Only a bit further to the dungeons. We’ll check for Zelda there first, but if she’s not there, we’ll... we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it,” Legend said firmly. “Finding her is our biggest objective. The wizard comes second.”
The others nodded as they crossed through a doorway, and Legend squared his shoulders, shoving away the rest of his anxiety and terror and digging up the courage in his chest that had gotten him through six adventures already.
We’re coming Zelda, hold on, he thought desperately, shouting a warning back to the others as they reached the dungeons, and an enemy’s sword nearly took his head off.
Please be okay.

Snowbaird Arena AU fic idea I’ve been thinking about for weeks now but don’t have any writing talent to make it come to life so if anyone out there wants to take this on please do!
In this AU Coryo doesn’t manage to escape the arena when he’s sent in to get Sejanus. Sejanus does get out (because this fic is about Snowbaird and I don’t want Sejanus to be third wheeling the whole time lol) but maybe Coral’s pack corners Coryo and he has to take a detour through the tunnels and Lucy Gray hears him and leads him to safety. Gaul couldn’t care less about getting him out because if he dies at least it’ll be off camera and everyone will be none the wiser.
The majority of the games will play out the same but this time Lucy Gray won’t be alone, when Jessup becomes rabid they bolt into the arena together to escape and that’ll be when the viewers see for the first time that one of the mentors is trapped in the arena (Gauls probably been going around telling people Coryo is off with the flu - Clemmie will be the only one who suspects something shady is at play since that was the same excuse they used for her). Everyone in the Capitol is up in arms about one of their own students being in the arena (Crassus Snow’s son no less!)
Lucy Gray and Coryo survive the games. I know in this AU he’s not around the drop the handkerchief into the snake tank but he’s been with Lucy Gray in the arena the whole time - and maybe to keep her warm at night he’s leant her his blazer (I know in the book he wasn’t wearing it but let’s say’s for this story he is) - so his scent would be on her and when the tank explodes and the snakes reach them they don’t attack. Lucy Gray still sings still because that song slaps and maybe this time Gaul is the one to suggest the singing is calming the snakes because she can’t exactly say “yeah they’re not attacking because they already know Snows scent from that time I used it to test my students honesty which resulted in one of them getting bitten multiple times and almost dying lol” it’s already bad enough that one of the students is in there, can’t let the Capitol know she’s using them as test subjects for her mutts too!
They’re out of the arena and Gauls stuck between a rock and a hard place because she can either tell people she willingly sent a Capitol student into the arena mid-games and left him there to fend for himself OR she can say Coryo broke in himself to protect Lucy Gray because young love blah blah which she’ll absolutely hate but may not result in her getting fired so that’s the story she goes with.
Dean Highbottom will actually for once try and do something decent and sees this as an opportunity to potentially end the games for good by playing up the Capitol Boy/ District Girl in love story blah blah look how District and Capitol can work as a team blah blah we’re not so different you and I blah blah Gaul wants everyone to believe that all humans are inherently monsters but look how these too worked so hard to protect each other…you get the idea.
The games are cancelled, Gaul probably still gets fired (Sejanus and Strabo probably corner the President and tell him “listen, you need to fire this bitch, we all know what really went down”), Snowbaird have their happy ending, there’s an emotional reunion between Coryo and Tigris, the Grandma’m is actually relatively pleasant to Lucy Gray since she saw how hard they protected each other in the games, maybe the covey come to the Capitol and perform and Plubris’ nightclub.
Anyway, that’s pretty much it. If anyone wants to adopt this baby, please do and let me know where I can read it. It would be much appreciated ☺️
I have read Saving Each Other by flipflop_diva (which I’ll include a link to, I definitely recommend you read) but if anyone knows any other similar fics please message me!

Time for a lighthearted review!
By now a number of people have heard of ボクの神隠し(boku no kamikakushi), aka “My Spiriting Away” or “My Mysterious Disappearance,” aka the BL manga that Okamoto Nobuhito, voice actor of Bakugou Katsuki, was involved in. It is available to read for free in Japanese here with a total of three chapters. This post contains spoilers for the ending.
Here’s a Q&A peppered with my thoughts on it.
The Premise
Crybaby Uzuki idolizes his childhood friend Haruto who always protected him, but since they started high school, their relationship has soured, leaving Uzuki utterly alone. One day, the pair are kidnapped by a strange man and forced to participate in a mysterious game of life-or-death.
How is Okamoto involved?
Okamoto is credited for the 原案 (gen’an). A corollary industry term in English would be “original idea” or possibly “scenario.” In my experience with comics, this suggests he created the characters and premise, then wrote the concept out and submitted it to a second party to be fleshed out for full production.
The script is credited to Production Beijyu (プロダクションベイジュ), a company who offers a variety of production and promotion services with a focus on editing and proofreading books, magazines, manga, and anime.
The manga—so the artwork and all of its production—is credited to 戸真伊まい, a name I can only guess is read as Tomai Mai, which sure sounds like a pen name and doesn’t appear to be linked to any other published work. This could be for a lot of reasons; the artist might be totally new or they might have worked in other genres and chose a unique pen-name for BL, but the only thing I found attached to this name online was their Twitter account.
How’d it get made, anyway?
As far as I can tell, Okamoto must have personally reached out to Beijyu and applied for their services to help make his idea a real thing. Beijyu gear themselves towards small, independent artists and authors, especially those who haven’t debuted with a magazine or printed publication yet.
For those unaware, manga is a massive industry in Japan, and it can be extremely difficult to get your foot in the door. Many creators talk about having their concepts rejected repeatedly by magazine after magazine, or getting a single one-shot published and then struggling to keep the momentum. There’s a reason all of the huge Shounen Jump creators talk about the intense pressure to keep their work popular and to avoid getting dropped from publication by any means necessary.
Boku no Kamikakushi is available for free and I haven’t heard of any plans for a physical release. To be honest, this suggests to me that Okamoto genuinely wanted to get his story made regardless of profitability—he isn’t just a celebrity attaching his name to a series for attention. There wasn’t some industry demand or opportunity that he took advantage of for professional gain, he must have been the one to initiate this endeavor, and honestly, good for him.
Is it really bkdk?
Nah. I will grant you that the tropes at play certainly reveal Okamoto’s tastes, and we sure could extrapolate about his feelings on bkdk from those tastes. But beyond the similarities in backstory, base themes, and design aesthetic that people have pointed out, the couple have very little in common with bkdk, and in fact, the way they diverge is kind of hilariously shocking??
Okay, fine. What’s their deal, then?
Uzuki is a yandere rich boy who likes to get choked. Haruto is honestly a hapless, horny victim in all this.
Tumblr media
What!?
Yeah. The “mastermind” behind the kidnapping is Uzuki himself, who staged the whole thing with his butler. Basically, their high school classmates tease Haruto for being associated with Uzuki, the son of the richest noble in town; Haruto resents it so he distances himself from Uzuki and rejects him. Uzuki ends up lonely with no friends and missing Haruto, so he stages his own kidnapping and puts them both in the “death game” as a way to force Haruto to remember his childhood promise to protect Uzuki as his hero.
That’s insane???
YES. IT IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE.
It’s especially funny because the parameters of the death game don’t technically require them to have sex or get intimate, Uzuki is just a fucking freak and Haruto is confused by his own horniness and goes along with it. The first trial involves a selection of drinks, one of which contains poison, and they have to keep choosing one to drink from until someone dies. Haruto ends up poisoned, and Uzuki uses his prize (“one wish”) as the winner to get the antidote and save him, of course passing it to Haruto via full-on mouth kiss.
Haruto has a gay crisis about it.
The second game: whoever raises the other person’s heart rate to 130 beats per minute first wins, and the person with the elevated heart rate dies. Haruto’s heart rate spikes from aftereffects of the poison, and Uzuki’s solution is… for Haruto to choke him… on the bed they woke up on… so his heart rate increases as well. And then he asks Haruto to kiss him, too, and they just start making out until Uzuki’s heart rate hits 130. Haruto gets upset because he lost his head and ended up dooming Uzuki, but then somehow they arrange for this death to also be nullified, and they end up continuing to play the game for three days.
Three whole days!?!
THREE DAYS! This kid traps Haruto in a dungeon so he can make him participate in weird, sadistic, horny shenanigans for three days!
And then when they finally escape and everything is revealed, Haruto is just blankly confused and has this absent look on his face, repeating that he’ll protect Uzuki. The butler says that Uzuki performed excellent mind control, but then Uzuki imprisons the butler so it can be “just the two of them.”
Tumblr media
What the fuck, Okamoto???
Right? And you know what, it isn’t my jam at all, but can we just take a moment to recognize that a professional voice actor who is popular and prominent in the public eye wanted his weird horny BL idea to come to fruition, so he went forth into the world and made it so? And he didn’t even hide behind a pen name or anything, he wants people to associate him with it, he’s promoting it! He loves the hell out of it!
Like, I’m pretty astounded by that, and honestly I respect it. More people should just make things that cater to their own tastes without any self-consciousness about it. Wave your freak flag high, Okamoto.

If they remade Balan wonderworld but good what changes do you think would be most important
ohh ive had this stewing for a while so it's not just gonna be "what changes would be most important" it will also be some nitpicking
-i think. you could make it a game with no dialogue. i think that'd be novel and cool. but the weird thing is the actual game doesn't really commit to that? balan talks in-game. anyway they need to like. Actually tell the story bc as it stands w all the context being in the book isn't really great. more comprehensive cutscenes. and also I'm no game dev but like. it doesn't play well. i feel like it could stand to be more puzzley and maybe they can use that to help portray each residents stories more/better?
-i think the wonderworld should just abide by real time bc w it originally existing outside time and space kinda. Doesn't make complete sense to me. It being 'these twelve guys are having issues at the moment" makes more sense to me. therefore. dropping the cass attilio romance. It was weird anyway. princess merry is cass' older sister
-instead of the illusions of themselves that lead you to their negati boss form, it's a shadow that you see on the walls/ground(bc they're a shadow of their former selves haha). maybe your shadow is replaced w theirs?
-im thinking their backstory cutscenes are each told through different creative mediums:
-Fiona through sand animation, Eis through oil pastel on glass animation(like mob psycho 100 has) , Lucy through like a series of paintings? Cass maybe something similar to the mechanical puppets that hers is already, have Sana’s commit with wooden carved sets in stop motion (wouldn’t have to actually be Real stop motion, just make it look like it)
-either Balan just doesn’t have a ‘true form’ or his true form still reads as black bc i will continue to be 😐 over that for-absolutely-ever
-Cass’ cat has to die. I’m sorry. or at least get hit and nearly die. also I’m thinking the accident also caused Iben’s parents deaths bc i heard somebody suggest that in frankenbugs’ playthrough of it and that sounded cool to make it connected. and Cass shutting out her grief like it never happened while Iben let her grief consume her bc of the same accident also sounds cool
-also abt frankenbugs i agree w them that I don’t think Lucy’s stage needs any changing i think hers is the best structured. i think everyone else’s stages need to be changed to match
-also maybe reorder the levels so they're in like. have the more intense problems at the end. like Bruce's being the last level seems kinda Whatever after cass and iben's levels literally involve death
-i think have their ‘why they’re in wonderworld’ cutscene play at the beginning of their stage when you first get there, and the ‘what happens after they leave’ play after their boss fight like normal bc idk where to put it otherwise
-I think it'd be neat if the hub world was the theatre instead of the isle of tims. what little we actually see of the theatre in the opening cutscene looks GREAT and i think that'd make for a cooler hub to get to all the stages w the character posters. i honestly don't really care for the tims (i like them in theory not really in practice) and much less the tower
and that's all i got rn but i might come back to this I'm watching the 1993 mario movie rn

hi ramble about a topic that interests you
this is a threat
anon i'm taking this as an opportunity to talk about my stardew valley au i hope you're satisfied.
i view this au from the lens of it being an actual mod for the game, cus idk how to code or make mods. but anyway it would be an expansion type mod similar to rsv where there's a whole other town to visit that for the most part is separate from the vanilla game . and here we have homestuck characters to meet.
the trolls are human in this au (except kanaya who is a vampire) and while theoretially you could romance them there's more of an emphasis on helping them with their own issues and relationships with others.
i'm gonna just paste the shti i have in my google doc so i don't have to type everything out lmao. it's mostly about the characters.

Irish Examiner: Evolution of the species: Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys on new album, The Car
Written by Alex Green, 19/10/2022
In the two decades since they formed in Sheffield, Arctic Monkeys have evolved. The band have gone from indie upstarts to stylish retro-rockers with a penchant for vintage pianos and high concepts.
It’s been a gradual process, but one that has seen the clattering guitars of barnstorming hits such as I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor and 505 firmly dropped in favour of lush strings, smooth jazz and soul.
The Car, the band’s seventh album, completes their latest transformation, refining the template set by its predecessor, 2018’s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino — a concept album about a luxury resort on the moon. The band’s charming, sometimes inscrutable, frontman Alex Turner says their last release helped lay the groundwork.
“I would imagine at some point there was an intention to not go anywhere near science fiction-sounding things with this record — in the lyrics or the music,” he says, picking up the phone amid studio sessions for a special recording destined for radio.
“We may have successfully evaded science fiction in the music side,” he adds with a laugh. “But there are actually a few instances where a bit of that language hangs over from the last one, probably more than I even realised.
“There’s plenty about it that feels different to me from the last one. There’s a progression in the dynamics of the whole thing. Perhaps it executes those ideas more effectively.”
Turner speaks slowly and thoughtfully, and his turn of phrase is pleasingly similar to his cryptic, often abstract song lyrics. I ask if The Car is a spiritual successor to Tranquility Base — the creative process began in the same room in Los Angeles before his move back to London.
“I wouldn’t put up that much of a fight against that,” he says before a pause. “I can’t emphatically subscribe to that idea but I can’t totally oppose it either.”
Work on the album began in earnest in summer 2021, when the band came together at Butley Priory, a 14th century monastery turned wedding venue in a remote part of Suffolk.
“That was the first time we had been back together all at once, for what felt like a really long time,” he explains. “There may have been time between the end of the tour in 2019 and the session in Suffolk when we were all together but it was really swift. It felt like we hadn’t had that energy that you get with the collective for a really long time. Definitely, the excitement was palpable.”
On The Car, Turner sings of jet skis, photoshoots and mirrorballs, a dusty and creaking vision of fame — and a more grown-up version of the adolescent angst of early Arctic Monkeys records.
One album it bears resemblance to, Turner suggests, is Nat King Cole's Where Did Everyone Go?, a sensational collection of ballads from 1963.
“There are important parts of this record that are instrumental and often in the writing process they preceded a lot of the lyrics certainly, or any of the vocal ideas,” he says. “The top of the record starts with one of them. There’s a few of them right throughout the thing. It sometimes feels like those bits have aspirations outside of a pop song — and the record is me dragging them back towards a pop song.”
He adds with a dry laugh: “That’s what I would put in my review anyway.”
The Car is also seeped in film and cinematography. In fact, Turner shot the There’d Better Be A Mirrorball video on 60mm camera during their Suffolk recording sessions. Back in 2019 he had read a book called In The Blink Of An Eye, by the Oscar-winning film editor and sound designer Walter Murch, who worked on Apocalypse Now and The Godfather trilogy.
“There’s definitely stuff when I think about things that he said in that book, and I think about this project. There was definitely a post-production phase that was elongated or prolonged … If I am thinking of that as the edit, we have this ‘shoot’ on location, if you like, in Suffolk last summer and then that was part of it.
“We went to another studio and did a bunch more overdubs. But then I felt like there was this period where we spent time putting all the sessions together. I’ve never edited a movie before but I imagine you could draw some parallels perhaps between it.”
Just a few months ago the band played confident headline sets at Reading and Leeds festivals, as well as Electric Picnic, prompting rave reviews.
At the UK gigs at least, the crowd was largely made up of teenagers too young to have experienced the band during its formative years — a new generation presumably converted by 2013’s chart-conquering AM.
Some tracks from their early days still feature in their sets, such as the mosh pit-prompting …Dance Floor.
“It really depends,” offers Turner, when asked how his relationship to those songs has changed. “I suppose that (Dance Floor) has never really been benched. It’s always been in there so it’s evolved incrementally over the last 15 years or whatever.
“The version of Dance Floor now, it almost feels like that one is a separate thing because it’s just always in there. Some of the other ones we rested for a while. This summer we were playing Ritz To The Rubble and it felt like that doesn’t come as naturally as it once did.
“There have been moments where it has felt like you are doing a cover, but I don’t think it feels like that any more. We have gone through that phase possibly. It’s something else now.
Turner is now regarded by many as one of most significant frontmen of the 21st century, and his album-to-album transformations have led to comparisons with David Bowie.
He says it’s rare that he ever looks back at the Arctic Monkeys’ catalogue as one cohesive whole.
“There was a time before this record where we were listening to some of the other ones to try and get an understanding,” he says. “But when you do that it doesn’t, to me anyway, seem that dramatic a shift between them all. Maybe if you look at the show, it would probably look really different over the years, but I’ve never done that. And even that, it’s happening over 200 nights. It changes into something else.
“I don’t think it’s a ‘sit down in the boardroom and this is what we are going to do now’ sort of thing. It’s all gradual. When you listen to the records back to back — like I said, it’s not something that I do quarterly, but I have given some attention to that twice maybe in the last 15 years — it all seems like it’s the same band to me. But you may disagree with that.”
Another mammoth tour and a likely number one, how does Turner motivate himself at the top, and where do Arctic Monkeys go from here?
“I suppose it depends on how you are looking at it. I don’t think I’ve thought about it like that — if I ever did — for a really long time. Because I don’t know if that is how it works in this band.
“To think about it like that is almost as if the big show is some sort of trophy, which it doesn’t feel like it is — or ought to be.
“To suggest there wouldn’t be anywhere to go after playing Glastonbury for the first time suggests it’s this trophy that you’re going to put up. I don’t think it feels like that from where I’m standing.”

CH2: Pigsys Noodles
Previous post!
Pigsy’s Noodles, the shop you decided to go to, was not very far from your apartment. After a short bus ride, you finally arrived at the storefront which was enveloped in a wonderful aroma of steamed broth. You walk in, noticing a hefty pig getting to work on some noodles behind the counter. A man with round glasses was sitting, slurping the remnants of his meals from a bowl with a satisfied sigh leaving his mouth once finished.
“Ah- Welcome to Pigsy’s Noodles. What can I get ya?” The pig finally turned his attention to you as he wrapped up what seemed to be an order. You smile politely before sitting down at the same counter as the other guy.
“Hello! I’ve actually never been here before. What do you recommend?”
He puffed up his chest proudly, ladle in hand.
“Every noodle from Pigsy's Noodle Shop is handcrafted from scratch with love, and care. It's what our customers have come to expect.” You stare blankly at him for a moment. He coughed slightly, before turning back to the kitchen. “I’ll make you one of our best sellers, just sit tight.” You hum in approval, opting to look around the quaint restaurant. The glasses man was still sitting next to you idly reading a book. It was a very peaceful atmosphere. But then someone came crashing through the door. “PIGSY!!!!!!!!” The new figure bellowed loudly, startling you.  The other two in the room lacked any similar reaction. The perpetrator scrambled to the pig, waving his hands frantically. “I AM SO SORRY!! I GOT DISTRACTED AND FORGOT TO COME BACK FOR THE REST OF THE ORDERS!!!”
Ah. So he’s why the reviews are there.
Pigsy turns to give the boy an irritated glare. He grumbles a little under his breath before setting a set of hot noodles before you.
“Kid, ya can’t keep getting distracted and forgetting to do your job. I’m running a business here!” It felt rude to listen to the conversation in front of you, so you snapped apart a pair of chopsticks and decided to focus on your meal. The first pair of noodles enveloped your mouth with a burst of flavor. A smile appeared on your face while you continued to dig into your meal.
“So, what do you think?” Pigsy asked. You flash an even bigger smile while giving him a thumbs up. “Sososo good!!! I haven’t even tried any of the other noodle shops yet, but I don’t think I’ll have to. Count me as one of your regulars now.” The compliments earn you a beaming Pigsy who waved his hand bashfully at your statement.
“Awww you’re much too kind, but I’m glad to hear that.” The delivery boy turned to look at you, curiosity on his face.
“Oh, are you not from around here?” He asked, suddenly appearing way too close to you. An irked Pigsy pulls him away to give you personal space. You chuckled slightly, slurping some more of your noodles.
“Yeah, I just moved here on a whim. I’ve been a bit too nervous to go out myself, since I don’t know anyone around here, and the city’s still unfamiliar to me.” You pick out some money for the food and place it on the countertop. “This is the first time I’ve been out in a couple of days. It was a good decision though, otherwise, I wouldn’t have tasted something so yummy!” The boy nodded enthusiastically at every word, while Pigsy smiles once again at your praise.
“OHOHOH!!!” Suddenly, your hands are wrapped over the boy, his eyes almost sparkling. “If you need someone to show you around, I’m totally the guy! Since I deliver everywhere, it’ll be easy to take you all over the place!!” You laugh at his excitement, pulling him back just to get some more room once again.
“That would be very nice actually... It’s very kind of you to offer.” He grins widely, pulling out his phone (and nearly dropping it) before offering it to you to input his number. “The names MK by the way! Well, it's what people call me anyways.”
After exchanging contacts, you decide that it was time for you to call it a night. MK suggested that you could come over by the noodle place tomorrow and drive around the city with him, which you agree to. You gave your thanks to both Pigsy and MK and exited the shop. The cool breeze of the night blew through your hair, and you breathed in a sigh of relief. Maybe, you thought, living in the city wouldn’t be so bad after all.
“Did they just leave a 100-dollar tip??” Pigsy stood dumbfounded at the amount of cash next to the empty noodle bowl. He turns over to the other patron, who sheepishly looked back at him. “You could learn a thing or two from them, Tang.”

For @clawedandcute, who gave me the best gift ever and wrote sweet Fringe fix-it fic when I desperately needed it. As a thank-you gift, here's my take inspired by her suggestion of "Independent Atlantis with crazy feral family vibes" - I may have shifted a little to the left (and added some slight hints of Sparky, couldn't help myself), but I think the independent and feral are covered, at least! Pending some edits later, but here's the raw version:
“You sure you know what you’re doing, Elizabeth? I can only run interference here for so long.”
“It’s only a temporary measure, Jack. You know as well as I do that the IOA will capitulate sooner rather than later. With reports due back to renew congressional funding, they won’t want to risk a communications embargo for long, not when they’re so desperate to demonstrate return on investment for this project.”
Jack’s fond smile comes through clearly in his voice. “They’ve never sat across the table from a negotiator worth half your salt.”
**
“What is this, some kind of… siege? A strike? They can’t keep us out, it’s a military base!”
“With all due respect,” Jack says, with that signature eyebrow raise that declares the precise quantity he thinks that is, “that’s exactly the issue here. Dr. Weir is under the impression the Atlantis mission was meant to be a scientific expedition first and foremost, and objects to the, ah, military hierarchy.”
“So they’re shutting down the gate entirely?”
“Blocking any signals from this galaxy, sir.”
“For how long?”
“As long as it takes for you folks to reconsider your priorities. Or,” he coughs, “that’s my impression, anyway.”
“General—”
“For what it’s worth,” he interrupts, “I wouldn’t bet against Elizabeth Weir, sir. Not where it counts.”
**
Week 1: Puddlejumper joy rides and unsanctioned exploration of questionably sound sections of the city abound. John and Rodney invent some sort of game using Ancient technology that Elizabeth is fairly convinced hasn’t been cataloged or even particularly vetted yet, but she hears no complaints from Carson, so perhaps it’s an acceptable risk this once. On the other hand, the botanists and marine biologists have started some competition that sounds suspiciously similar to cliff diving, resulting in at least four broken bones that she knows of, which seems like sufficient cause to call in a favor with Katie for further information…
Week 2: Rumors of some sort of underground boxing ring in some unexplored passageways in a far part of the city find their way to Elizabeth’s ears. Curiously, Ronon claims to have heard nothing of the sort, despite suddenly finding himself in possession of several suspicious bruises and more chocolate than Elizabeth has seen in one pile in months. He slides a bar or two across her desk, and she finds that the day is simply too full to ask Chuck about that little black book full of names and numbers that he dropped earlier.
Week 3: Reports of a food fight in the cafeteria, which clearly has nothing to do with the tomato sauce Elizabeth just found crusted in her hair in the shower.
**
Word comes through with the next appearance of the Daedalus: the more time has passed, the more the bigwigs back home have slowly started to warm to the idea of changing their tune. When Elizabeth explains to John that the IOA is “requesting” a thorough report from him about leadership successes and failures during their tenure in Atlantis before they’ll consider any real compromise, his immediate response is to tell her in no uncertain terms that he’ll have nothing to do with it.
He can see her jaw clenching as she tries to offer an unconvincing placating smile. “It’s all right, John. You’re second in command here; they want your perspective of my decision-making. We’ve done this before, remember? It’s a formality—”
“Yeah, and I remember how it went last time,” John practically growls. “I won’t let them rake you over the coals again, Elizabeth. You give everything you’ve got to this mission and this team, twenty-eight hours a day, and they think they can judge the messier details from their cushy office chairs—”
“John.”
“I won’t do it,” he insists. “I’ve got all kind of time off in the bank, right? Let me know when it’s scheduled for, you can find me sipping fancy Athosian cocktails on the mainland that day.”
She grasps him by the elbow and starts steering him in the direction of her office. “It’s in twenty minutes.”
He digs his heels in until she physically can’t drag him any further. “What? That’s not playing fair!”
She barely suppresses an eyeroll.
He considers breaking out the puppy dog eyes, then changes tack. “Can I flip them off?”
Elizabeth’s expression is initially startled, then her eyes narrow. “It’s a conference call, John. They won’t be able to see you.”
“My point exactly. I won’t get you in trouble, but lets me show them what I think of them somehow. Makes me feel a little less slimy about the whole tattletale ordeal.”
Her surprised smile is gratifying. “By all means, then, Colonel.”
**
“They’ve agreed to our…” She hesitates, not wanting to finish that sentence with demands, and settles on, “requirements. Chiefly, greater proportion of funding goes to the pursuit of scientific knowledge, including additional materials and staff for exploratory recon missions, both on- and off-world.”
While Rodney’s lighting up like Christmas morning, Ronon’s face clearly conveys that someone has tried to sell him that bridge before. “What’s the catch?”
“Additional military oversight, mostly,” Elizabeth replies, waving off Ronon’s concern, “namely in the form of supervisory reports from Colonel Sheppard.”
John looks up from the tablet he’s been fiddling with for the last several minutes of the briefing, his expression one of alarm. “Hey now!”
“Relax, John, it’s just a formality. We won.”
“Easy for you to say! You didn’t get saddled with extra paperwork!”

Hearts of Lust: Chapter 10
Tumblr media
Pairing Kim Namjoon X Reader
Genre: Collage!AU, Smut
Word Count: 1.7K
Warning: Cursing, mentions of smut, smut, consumption of alcohol, mentions of violence, violence, crack personality disorders, Chaotic energy.
Summary: College is any young adult's prime years, at least that's what Lee (y/n) and Kim Namjoon thought. The two are infamous for two reasons, by two very different crowds. Among the professors they are picture perfect students with perfect scores, attendance, and image. However, among the student body they're the very essence of lust with amazing bodies, sex appeal, and skill. The two, although strikingly similar, butt heads quite a bit with competitions of everything from grades to who can get a person to drop their pants the fastest. With the two of them ready to conquer the school year it's all a matter of Go Big or Go Home.
Tumblr media
Looking down at my laptop I scroll through different pictures of marine wildlife, I sigh and glance down at my sketch book. It had a few ideas of What I wanted to do for the powerpoint, but I didn't know how I wanted to design the leaflet that RM and I would pass out for the presentation, and don't even get me started on what I should do for the 3-D model.
I thumb through a few notes RM jotted down for me to go off of but it only helps so much. I glance over at said man to see him writing down things before scrolling down on his laptop every few minutes.
Looking through different animals and jotting down the name with a vague sketch of it before looking for something new. Looking at the clock on my laptop I see the study hall has only just started.
I drop my pencil before running a hand over my face in frustration. I stand from my seat and stretch before sitting back down. I scroll some more before RM hands me some paper, I scan it to see a list of animals.
I look over at him to see him close his laptop and scoot closer to me. He pulls my laptop closer to him and opens a clean tab before closing my old one. "That list is a food web of the Epipelagic Zone more commonly known as the sunlight zone." He explains.
"So like...If J-Hope was a part of the ocean." I reference, an amused smirk grew on RM's face at my comment but he nodded anyway. "This section is where Coral reefs grow and have a more diverse population of creatures." He continues. "I was thinking we could do Raja Ampat, it's diversity in species is the richest in the world with 1700 different species of reef fish. It's even home to rare marine mammals." He lists.
"Do they have sharks?" I ask looking over his small list of animals, "Whale sharks and black tipped reef sharks." Namjoon answers. I hum with a small smile, "Noona, we should go to the aquarium that should help you get better references than internet pictures," Taehyung says as he pops up behind me and takes up residence on my shoulder.
My eyes widen at the idea, "That would be a good idea," I comment over to RM. He didn't get a chance to say anything as the five other males ran over and piled on top of us screaming at him to agree. RM groans before finally agreeing, "I guess we could go this weekend. We could go tomorrow since it's Friday." He suggests. It didn't take much force for all of us to agree.
Tumblr media
I looked through my bag one last time making sure I had everything. I got my wallet, notebook, sketchbook, digital tablet and pen, and a few other small things like band-aids and lipgloss. I pull my hair up in a ponytail adding some last minute touch ups to my make-up while I wait for Yoongi to pick me up.
I hear a honk from outside signaling he's here. I walked outside, but I didn't see Yoongi but Namjoon waiting for me. As I get closer to the car I can see Jungkook and Taehyung sitting in the back.
"Hi there boys," I smile at the two in the back, before looking over at Namjoon. "Jin divided us into groups of four, Since we need to work on a project we got stuck together. He then claimed that we need to take care of our children." He mutters, jabbing his thumb at the two in the back.
The two whine at his comment, further proving his point, before sitting back with a pout. I roll my eyes, "Then what does that make the rest of them?" I scoff, Namjoon shrugged. "I didn't want to ask." He mutters, "Understandable," I muse turning my head to face the two in the back.
I look at them for a minute, Why would Jin think they're our children. "Noona, you're scaring me," Tae spoke up, "Sorry Taetae." I muse before looking forward. "So did you have any ideas on how we should make our way around?' I question before digging out my notebook and pin.
"Somewhat, I made a list of the animals that are from the reef that the aquarium takes care of. We can make our way around the best we can, but I promised Tae and kook an hour for lunch and break." He said and I nodded. "Makes sense we are in charge of them and we will have to drag them around for a while. It's only fair that we give them an hour to do what they want." I agree.
It took ten more minutes before we parked in the aquarium parking lot. When we made our way to the entrance we found Jin, Hoseok, Yoongi, and Jimin. "Look who decided to finally show up." Yoongi scoffs, I flipped him the finger and continued to make my way inside. We each paid for our tickets before we regrouped.
"Okay Jin and I, more like Jin, decided on groups." Namjoon spoke up, "The group you arrived with is the group you're staying with, anyone deemed a child of their respected group is to not wander too far from their group, Anyone deemed a parent or elder of their group is to watch over their respective group. Lunch hour will start at 12:00 and end at 1:00 while free hour will start at 1:00 and end at 2:00." Namjoon announced.
Jungkook raises his hand and Namjoon sighs, "Yes we will go to the gift shop before we leave." He answers, Jungkook's hand falls back down to his side as he flushes red. "Any questions?" Namjoon asks, with no more questions we break off into our groups.
Namjoon and I looked at a map and to our luck the aquarium has an Indonesia section, which makes our job a lot easier. Jungkook and Taehyung bounced from tank to tank as we made our way to that section. Upon reaching it my eyes blew wide at all the colorful reef fish. I took out my digital pad and pen and began to sketch away.
I made a new folder with one section named Fish, thus far the section has five different pages of brightly colored fish. I made a new section and illustrated the different live coral that is said to grow in that environment.
Namjoon sat beside me as he wrote down different things from the information tablet provided in front of the large tanks. I would stop and glance around to see Taehyung and Jungkook jump from tank to tank.
After Namjoon and I are satisfied with this subsection of the area we move on, Taehyung and Jungkook drag us down a large tube that goes through the middle of a large enclosure. My eyes widen as a whale shark swims by. I follow it up and down the tank sketching it as quickly but as detailed as I can.
Once I finished I began a sketch of a black tipped reef shark. Luckily for me it didn't drag me up and down the tunnel like the whale shark did. When we finally moved on we crossed a large glass wall, I looked deep into it and gasped. A manatee, there were no seats so instead I sat on the floor sitting the tablet in my hand.
I draw the lines slowly and smoothly unlike the sharks, I'm so into it I don't hear Namjoon take a seat beside me. I feel him hovering over my shoulder looking at the drawing, "Did you know when pirates and sailors would dock their ships in shallow water or sail through rivers, they would claim to have seen mermaids when in reality they just saw manatees." I whisper softly.
Namjoon shook his head, "Historians claim it's one of the origins of the mermaid myth." I add gently drawing the large tail. "When I was a kid my mom used to take me to this river and told me if I was quiet and waited long enough I would see a mermaid. But when I told kids in my class they would call me stupid because everyone knew mermaids live in the sea." I smile.
"Yoongi always came with me to the library to read about mermaids but, I'm sure he was just there to read about the pirates." I laugh quietly as I color in the manatee. "I guess that's one of the biggest reasons why I like the ocean," I hum, adding in the wrinkles of their skin with a darker gray.
When I look up from my tablet I find Taehyung and Jungkook had joined Namjoon and I on the floor. "Hey Noona I think you would make a pretty mermaid," Taehyung spoke up with a small smile. I huff but a smile that matches his slips onto my lips. I ruffle his hair before saving the picture and standing up.
My back pops from the strain of leaning over my tablet for so long. I stretch out before checking my watch, "It's almost 12:00, let's head over to the café for lunch." I sigh in bliss. Jungkook and Taehyung are quick to bounce to their feet and dash in the direction of the café.
"AISH DON'T RUN TOO FAR WITHOUT US!" Namjoon yells after them as he gets onto his feet. I sigh and stuff my tablet under one arm before taking a hold of Namjoon with the other and dragging him along with me to catch up to the two boys.
By the time we caught up to them they were in the main area deciding which Café they wanted to go to. "Okay," I huff out of breath, "Which one do you want to go to?" I ask. The two boys scan the different Cafes, but eventually they settle on one.
Upon entering the Café we became the center of attention, The two boys who were previously child-like and playful switched their switch and their inner succubus came out. Lustful gazes and sexy smirks in all. Not that they're the only ones, One quick glance at Namjoon and I could tell he's oozing his sexual dominance. I plant a small suggestive smirk on my lips and run a hand through my hair to make it a bit more messy and wild before I cross my arms to push up my breasts.
As we wait in line I can see everyone scoping us out, Some look like they're going to make a move while others whisper amongst themselves about us in their corner. When it came time for us to order the cashier looked visibly flushed and baffled.
I smile at them with a well practiced charmed smile. I lean onto the counter giving a few in the Café a good view of my ass while giving the cashier a good view of my breasts. I smirk as they visibly swallow the lump in their throat.
"What-What can I...What can I get you?" They stutter, "breath darling, we don't bite." I smile calmly, "Not unless you want us to," Namjoon smirks. I shot Namjoon a challenging gaze and he returned it, fine game on.
I bring my hand up to my lips and draw small subtle circles around my lips as I look up at the menu. When I figured out what I wanted I glanced at the cashier, smirking as I saw then gnawing on their lip harshly while they eye my finger and lips.
I slowly lean forward, careful not to knock them out of the trance I put them in. I hear them whine as I slowly pull their lip out from between their teeth, "Now darling if you're willing I'm ready to order." I spoke calmly in a smooth suggestive voice.
The cashier nods their head rapidly, lip once again caught between their teeth. I lean forward and pull it out again, "Darling if you keep biting your lip like that I'll have to give you a real reason to bite onto something," I whisper darkly. I watch completely amused as I watch the poor soul catch themself with the counter to keep themselves from falling to the floor.
"I would like a number three with a lemonade." I order softly before pulling away. I take a step back and watch as the cashier visibly relaxes. "Your move RM," I whisper challengingly, taking a step to the side to watch. The Cashier stiffens as soon as RM steps up to order. This should be fun.

Hi, basically, I'm in friend group of three ATM, me and one friend are both in a qpr, I'm aro and he is aroace, I'd say our friend group just gives off VERY aspec vibes, anyway there's no real problem there, it's just that we we're talking abt attraction and all, when our third friend, who as far as I know doesn't identity as anything, when we were talking abt attraction she mentioned that she'd never felt any attraction towards anyone, never thought anyone was attractive or anything, she said she thinks that's pretty normal though, for context we are all around 15 so it's not entirety unusual to not feel any of those things, but she's also very offline and basically knows nothing abt queerness, so I guess what I'm asking you is, how do I tell her she is probably aspec, I don't want to be the judge of some else's sexuality but she's actively sex repulsed I've seen it, the chances are she'll never stop being offline because that's just who she is and those are her morals but I find it impossible to believe that she would ever be with anyone, and I don't want her to struggle with herself and everything, I feel irresponsible for keeping this information from her, she might not get another friend group like us in the future so I feel it would be the right thing to do to let her know that a) it is necessarily normal for people to have ever experienced attraction towards anyone b) that her strong dislikness and aversion of sex is not and inherently average thing but c) these are signs and experiences of people who are aspec and that I think she could possibly fall under that umbrella, then I would suggest places for her to look up information and would encourage her to just think about and tell her that we'd be here to help. Is this the right thing to do? Is it wrong to encourage someone else to question their own sexuality because what they are experiencing aligns with a certain identity?
Yeah, I don't think your approach is a bad one. I'd probably take a very similar tack. Just have a conversation that's meant to inform in a you may find this interesting/useful kind of way, and I think the points you want to cover are good ones. And then I'd just share some resources they can look into and let them know you're open to talking more about this if they're interested at a later point. But I'd also drop it completely after that unless they chose to bring it up again themselves.
It's not wrong to just inform someone a label exists that you think may fit them, just so long as you're not being pushy or trying to label them yourself. But it does sounds like your goal here is just make sure they're informed, which is good. Of course it doesn't hurt to also emphasize while you're talking to them that this is their choice if they want to look into this or not, and you just want to make sure they're aware.
Since your friend is very offline, I'd try and share offline resources. For example Aces & Aros has pamphlets on their website you can print off and give to people. They also have book recommendations on the same page. (And then if this ends up being something they want to explore more, you can also look into things like in-person meetups in your area, or if you have a local LGBTQ+ chapter that's ace/aro friendly, checking them out.)
All the best, Anon!

Hi, i just wanted to say u made me upset this past 2 weeks.
For context, i am a literature major studying in Korea, so when I say i've been invested and reading 2-3 books/week. I MEAN IT. I only started reading fics 2015? When sm^t was still labeled lemon so point is, yes I read a lot a lot (books? about 400, fics? uncountable).
I used to read amazing fics (yoonmin) that has similar writing style as you! (Slow burn, the best kind of tropes)
I highly recommend you checking out:
The Songbird and the Sea by Misstermaia
Nyctophile by yururin
Both are yoonmin (BTS) but i highly suggest at least checking it out as your writing style suits fantasy the best like said authors. Anyways, I eventually dropped the kpop world (due to uni) around 2019-2020? then started stanning NCT, which made me know markhyuck and your fics.
I have to say, You have an amazing writing style and talent. I love the way you write! So refreshing and detailed, things you wont expect. Beautiful is truly an understatement. But due to one and other things (my life falling off, my independence, which took a toll on me and I started to not enjoy my hobbies and instead focused on putting food on the table).
This year as I was doing my internship out of Korea, in 2023, out of the blue I jumped and had the sudden urge to read honeymouthed and wildflowers. All because there was a cafe which had "Honey" & "Elderflowers" written in the number #6 of their menu. I dug up my old google drive and there it was. The book (ur fic) I devastated-ly dropped as I've had to do life— as everyone does. I read it from the beginning. Even if I used to read it 10-20? times from the start as I wait for the updates haha. When I reached the final page I saved it (it was page 339) I went to ur AO3 to find any updates, but it was gone. I searched on twt u posted it but it wasn't there on AO3. It broke my heart for a few weeks (quite frankly). It was like dejavu. the As my favorite author (The yoonmin one) quite literally stopped posting on ao3 which, I was broken as well (update; she still opened a patreon/kofi account in the end! hehe).
When I found out in ko-fi it was still there but it is inaccessible for un-logged in users. I immediately made one and is now pending for the invitation for the ao3 (i lost my old account :'()
nonetheless, I AM OVER THE MOON THAT UR STILL ACTIVE AND AMAZING AND DOING/RESTING WELL!

My agent and I are on sub, but communication has dropped off despite her agreeing to help figure out which book to work on next. I've submitted two WIPs and gotten no feedback on why she didn't like them and my emails were ignored when I asked for more. I sent her a list of possible pitches, and she has not replied and it's been weeks. Looking like I might end up back in the trenches. What are your thoughts on someone in my situation querying with a partial? I sold one book trad before the agent
I would say, re partial, that it would be better if you queried with a full, UNLESS your first 'trad' book was big enough that agents will have certainly heard of it/you, in which case you could probs do a partial.
The thing is -- most agents don't want to SELL on a partial from an unknown author. And you want to, ideally, be querying with material that the agent can then turn around and hopefully sell fairly quickly.
I'd also ask, what's the hurry? If you don't have anything ready to go ANYway, why would you need to query soon? You're on sub, so maybe just let it play out while you are getting your next thing ready and then figure out what to do when you have something new, yanno?
I have to sympathize a bit with your agent - I feel like I am juggling giant cinderblocks under quicksand with regards to keeping up with emails lately, it's been a nightmare. Like I spend SO MUCH TIME trying to tame my inbox, and 500 emails sprout up as soon as I'm done. I took the long weekend last week off because I was at ALA, so I just didn't have time to check, and I came home to 3000 emails. It's A SHITSHOW. (Hence, why I am at my desk working on July 3rd when everyone else is out for yet another long weekend! ARGH.)
So idk, I'm not excusing your agent by ANY means, and you feel what you feel and you need to do what you need to do -- but I'd just gently suggest you extend *a bit* of extra grace. It could easily be that every time they see your email they think YES I HAVE TO SIT DOWN AND WRITE A THOUGHTFUL LETTER TO THIS WONDERFULLY PATIENT CLIENT WHO DESERVES THE WORLD and then somebody pours a bunch more cinderblocks on them from above.
If I were in your position, I'd schedule a chat with my agent -- (New email. Subject line: Time to talk? or similar. Body, something like: Hi - I have sent several emails about various WIP stuff, pitches, etc -- I know everyone is crazed, and I've thrown several different things at you -- maybe it would be easier to hash out next steps by phone? I'd love some guidance about what to work on next [or whatever the thing is you are asking for], I'm pretty flexible this week and next [or whatever], let's schedule time for a zoom or phone chat.
If they ignore THAT, or you have the convo and realize you two are totally on different pages, then by all means move on.

anniversary chapter 3: private photoshoot
coupon book chronicles part 1: anniversary Bayley x Dakota x Shayna General series warning: NSFW content, minors proceed with caution. Content warning(s) specific to this chapter: mild sexual content, teasing. chapter 1     chapter 2
Dakota swallows and blushes, wrapping the blanket tight around her. "Which one?" she asks.
Shayna carefully tears a coupon out of the book and hands it to her. Dakota reads it and blushes harder. "Why don't you read it for us love?" Shayna asks.
Dakota nods, cheeks burning as she reads. "Private photoshoot: pick out my outfit (underwear required, bra optional) and snap away. 1 hour time limit. Location and poses are up to you." She turns to Bayley. "Does this have anything to do with whatever is in that bag?" she asks, pointing to the shopping bag that Bayley is currently holding.
Bayley smiles and nods, handing Dakota the bag. Dakota looks inside to find four brand new lingerie sets, and she can immediately tell that a lot of thought went into picking these.
The first set is red and looks to be made entirely of lace. But it's soft, and doesn't itch against her skin. It's very clearly not lined, and Dakota can tell it's going to be easy to see what it's covering. Red is Bayley's favorite color of underwear on Dakota.
The second set is purple, and was definitely Shayna's pick. It's soft sheer material, and Dakota can tell that the fabric is going to cover less than most of her swimsuits do. There is a third set similar in material to the purple one, but it's pure white.
The fourth set is at the bottom of the bag, and Dakota looks up at her girls flustered beyond belief. It's pale pink and soft silk. But what has Dakota so flustered isn't the color or the material. It's the fact that other than covering her nipples and between her legs, it's not covering much. The underwear is pretty much a thong, and a pretty small one at that.
"So you got me four new lingerie sets just so you could use this coupon?" Dakota asks.
Shayna laughs. "Well, we were going to get you them anyways. But the coupon is an excuse to see you in them."
"Do you like them baby?" Bayley asks.
Dakota nods, smiling shyly. "I love them," she says. "Thank you."
"You're welcome love," Bayley says as she and Shayna wrap Dakota in a hug.
"So, which of these do you want me to start in?" Dakota asks Shayna.
Shayna thinks for a moment, looking at her options. “I think this one,” she says, picking up the white one. “You look like an angel in white,” she comments, making Dakota blush. She lifts Dakota’s chin up, looking her in the eyes. “Don’t be shy baby. You’re gorgeous,” she says. Shayna places the lingerie in Dakota’s hands. “Why don’t you go put these on and then meet us in the office?” she suggests.
Dakota takes the fabric in her hands. “Okay,” she says, swallowing hard. “I do have one condition about these photos though,” she says. “You can’t send them to anyone. They stay between us. I have a blank flash drive that they can be uploaded onto, but you can’t send them to anyone. And any photos you want to take of me without a bra on have to be taken on my film camera. I don’t want those on anyone’s phone.” She reaches down under the bed and picks up a wrapped box, which she passes to Shayna. “You can use this for the rest of them,” she says.
Shayna unwraps the box to find a brand new digital camera, one that she‘s been eyeing for months now. She looks up at Dakota. “Thank you, love,” she says, tackling Dakota into a hug and pressing kisses all over her face. “You’re so thoughtful.”
Dakota giggles at the display of affection. “You’re welcome,” she says. “So, do we have a deal?”
Shayna and Bayley look at each other, then back at Dakota. “Deal,” Shayna says. She picks up the bag holding the rest of the lingerie. “Come meet us when you’re ready.” She presses a kiss to the top of Dakota’s head.
Shayna and Bayley leave and Dakota drops the blanket on the bed. She carefully puts on the bra, which is tight fitting but not uncomfortable, her nipples pressing against the fabric which isn’t quite enough to completely cover her, so the sides of her breasts spill out of the garment. The underwear is actually a pair of tight boy shorts that are entirely sheer, except for the silk panel that covers her private area.
Dakota grabs her pink silk robe from the bathroom and wraps it around her, tying it in place. Then she makes her way down the hallway to the office where Shayna and Bayley are waiting.
“There’s our girl,” Bayley says, pulling Dakota into a hug. “We turned the heat on so you won’t be too cold,” she says.
Shayna joins them. “Can we see you baby?” she asks.
Dakota looks up at her with a smile. “You can already see me, I’m right here,” she teases with a giggle.
Shayna playfully rolls her eyes, smiling. “You know what I mean, silly girl. Can we see you without this?” she asks, running her thumb along the robe.
Dakota blushes. “I suppose,” she says. She unties the robe and slowly lets it fall away, revealing the lingerie. She turns slowly, letting them see her. “What do you think?” she asks, her voice shy and timid.
“You look stunning, love,” Bayley says, running her thumb over Dakota’s flushed cheek.
“Our angel,” Shayna adds, smiling at the way Dakota’s eyes light up at the nickname. “You like it when we call you that?” she asks. Dakota nods eagerly, and Shayna and Bayley smile at each other. “Beautiful angel,” Shayna says, kissing Dakota gently.
“Don’t tease,” Dakota whines, blushing as she looks down at the floor.
Shayna takes Dakota by the hand and leads her over to the window seat. “Alright love, are you ready?” she asks. Dakota nods. “Alright, let’s start here then.” Shayna scoops Dakota up and sets her on the window seat, sitting on her knees. She gently nudges Dakota’s knees apart and lifts her chin up. “Tell me your safeword,” she instructs, voice firm.
“Cardiff,” Dakota recites obediently.
“Good girl,” Bayley coos from where she is perched on the desk. “Such a sweet angel for us.” Dakota’s cheeks flush pink at the praise as Shayna steps back from her.
“Ready darling?” Shayna asks. Dakota nods, and Shayna snaps a picture of her. She looks at it and smiles, showing it to Bayley. “Gorgeous, love,” she says. She lifts the camera again, and Dakota sits back on her heels, pushing her hair back with her hands. That’s the moment when Shayna snaps the shot.
“How did we get so lucky?” Bayley asks. “Such a gorgeous girlfriend posing so perfectly for us.”
Dakota whines as the teasing flusters her. “You’re embarrassing me,” she says with a pout.
“Aw, what happened to your smile baby?” Shayna teases. “Can you smile for the picture?”
An idea forms in Dakota’s mind. “Make me,” she says, forcing herself not to smile.
“Oh, so that’s how you want to play?” Bayley says. She hops off the desk and goes to where Dakota is holding her hands above her head, fingers in her hair. Before Dakota is aware of what is happening, Bayley begins softly tickling Dakota’s neck and under her chin. “Are you ticklish?” she teases, watching as Dakota tries to keep her composure.
Dakota shakes her head, biting her lip as she fights to keep it together, cheeks flushed. “Come on baby, it’s okay to admit it,” Shayna coos.
Bayley brushes her fingers over Dakota’s collarbone, and Dakota‘s physical reaction is a dead giveaway about how ticklish she is there. “Oh, did I find the spot?” she asks. “It’s okay love, we just want to see that pretty smile of yours,” she says.
“Okay, okay!” Dakota finally breaks, giggling as Bayley’s fingers tickle her. Bayley quickly ducks out of the way as Shayna snaps a shot of Dakota smiling brightly, as residual giggles tumble out of her mouth. She drops her hands from her hair as she looks up at her girls, eyes bright and cheeks flushed and Shayna snaps another picture.
“You’re beautiful like this,” Shayna says, reaching out to help Dakota up from the window seat. “Blushing and giggling, looking so gorgeous for us.”
“I do not giggle!” Dakota protests.
“Oh really?” Shayna asks, raising an eyebrow. She quickly starts spidering her fingers up and down Dakota’s sides.
Sure enough, bright, high pitched giggles begin to flow from Dakota’s mouth as she squirms in Shayna’s grip. “Okay okay okay!” Dakota squeals. “You win!”
Shayna stops, lifting Dakota up onto the desk. “Can we do some without the bra on?” she asks.
Dakota nods, pointing at her film camera on one of the shelves. “Film should be in there for you,” she says.
“Okay baby. Can I take this off you?” Shayna asks as Bayley grabs the film camera. Dakota nods and Shayna unclasps the bra, setting it aside. Dakota lets her hair fall to cover her breasts, cheeks flushed pink with shyness. Shayna steps back and snaps a picture of her on the desk, legs crossed and chest bare.
The film prints and Shayna sets it aside to let it develop. “Baby, you look amazing,“ Bayley praises.
Shayna guides Dakota off the desk and gently bends her over it, the white sheer fabric of the boyshorts doing nothing to hide her butt from the camera. She snaps a few more pictures. “Alright baby, ready to change now?” she asks.
“Yes,” Dakota says, cheeks pink. “Which ones now?”
“Red,” Shayna says firmly, handing her the pair. “Then meet us in the bedroom.” Before she leaves, she runs her thumbnail over Dakota’s right nipple as Bayley gently pinches the left. Dakota gives a whine of pleasure, body shuddering for more. But nothing else comes as Bayley and Shayna leave the room.
Dakota quickly changes into the translucent red lace, her now hard nipples clearly visible against the fabric. She goes to put her robe on, only to find that it's no longer there. Shayna and Bayley must have taken it with them when they left. Her phone buzzes from where it is sitting on the desk. She opens it to find a text from Shayna:
Shayna: Are you okay with being a little more submissive while we take this next set?
Dakota feels her cheeks flush, biting her lip as she types a response.
Dakota: Yes.
Shayna's reply comes quickly.
Shayna: Okay. Use your safeword if it stops being okay. Here are your instructions: hair in a high ponytail, we want to see your face the whole time. Come to the bedroom. Sit on your knees in front of the door. Knock three times when you are here. I expect you to be looking up when I open the door so I can see your face. Do you understand your instructions?
Dakota: I understand.
As soon as she sends the message, Dakota feels her stomach flutter with excitement. This power dynamic is fairly new to their relationship, but she loves it so far. She quickly pulls her hair up into a ponytail, before heading down the hallway to the bedroom. She sits down on her knees in front of the door and knocks three times. She looks up, waiting.
The door opens and Shayna stands there, taking in the sight of Dakota in the red lace, hair pulled back, on her knees with her head tilted up. "Such a good girl, following directions so well," Shayna praises. She kneels down in front of Dakota and begins to trace little circles around her nipples through the lace of the bra.
"Shayna," Dakota moans quietly, shuddering under her touch. Her cheeks flush pink and she forces herself to maintain eye contact.
"Yes love?" Shayna asks, her voice light and innocent. Dakota's body shudders again and Shayna smiles. "Here's what we're going to do," Shayna says, continuing her tracing of Dakota's nipples. "I'm going to carry you in here and put you on the bed and then I'm going to let Bayley do this for a few minutes before I take more pictures. Do you understand?" Dakota nods, and Shayna gives her a stern look. "Words, Dakota," she says firmly.
"I understand," Dakota stammers.
Shayna smiles, giving Dakota a soft kiss. "Good girl," she says. She scoops Dakota up and carries her to the bed.
Bayley pulls Dakota into her lap and begins playing with her nipples. "Such an obedient girl, being such a good listener for us," she coos in Dakota's ear, making her blush. Dakota lets out a whine, flustered by the praise and Bayley and Shayna exchange a knowing smirk.
Bayley tweaks Dakota's nipples, and the smaller girl grits her teeth as she tries to suppress the desperate moan threatening to escape. She digs her nails into her thighs, breathing heavily as Bayley begins to rub small circles over her nipples, clearly visible as they press against the lace.
Shayna sees Dakota's nails pressing into her skin and shakes her head. "Baby, you're going to hurt yourself," she says, gently trying to take Dakota's hands into her own.
"I'm fine." Dakota manages to force the words out through clenched teeth as Bayley continues to tease at her sensitive chest.
"You're not," Shayna insists. She gives Bayley a look, one that very clearly is telling her to stop, and Bayley takes her hands off Dakota.
The loss of contact seems to mean so much more to Dakota, because she lets out a desperate whimper. "Don't go," she pleads, her voice barely more than a whisper, her eyes wide with panic.
"We're not going anywhere baby. We're just taking a time out, okay?" Bayley says, stroking Dakota's hair.
"Can I hold your hands love?" Shayna asks. Dakota nods, and Shayna gently picks up her hands. "Baby, this is what I was worried about," she murmurs, running a finger over the marks on Dakota's legs left by her nails. "If what we're doing is too much, you have to tell us so we know to slow down."
"No, I can take it!" Dakota insists, her voice rising in volume so quickly that she seems to startle herself. She shrinks into herself, immediately getting quiet again. "Please, I want to be your good girl."
"Baby, look at me," Bayley says, turning Dakota around on her lap so the two can make eye contact. Dakota looks down, and Bayley lifts her chin up. "No. Look at me." Her voice is firm this time as she stares into Dakota's hazel eyes. "This is important. Are you listening?"
"Yes Bayley. I'm listening," Dakota says, her voice nervous.
"You are such a good girl, Dakota. You have been a good girl for us all day. But we never, ever want you to put yourself through something that's too much for you. Being our good girl also means telling us when you need us to stop or slow down." Bayley holds Dakota's gaze, waiting for Dakota to respond.
Dakota takes a deep breath. "But it wasn't too much," she says quietly. "I was taking it."
Shayna wraps her arms around Dakota's stomach from behind, resting her head on the smaller girl's shoulder. "Baby, you were hurting yourself," she says, making sure to keep her voice calm. The last thing she wants is to send Dakota spiraling because she thinks she's being scolded. "We never want you to hurt yourself just so you can take what we're doing. We would rather slow down or stop entirely than have you hurt yourself."
Dakota looks at her girls, feeling guilt in the pit of her stomach. "I'm sorry," she whispers. "I didn't mean to be bad."
"No baby, you weren't bad," Bayley says. "I promise. You have been so good for us."
"So I'm not in trouble?" Dakota asks.
Shayna presses a gentle kiss to the top of Dakota's head. "No baby, you're not in trouble," she reassures her. "But understand that you need to tell us when things are too much. You have your safeword for a reason."
Dakota melts a little into Shayna's hold. "I promise, I'll tell you next time," she says.
Shayna smiles. "Good girl," she praises. "Now, how about we take some more pictures?" Dakota nods eagerly, and Bayley and Shayna exchange a smile. "Alright love. Can you lay on your back for me?" Shayna asks.
"Yes Shayna," Dakota says, as Bayley gently moves Dakota out of her lap and onto the bed. Dakota lays down on her back, legs naturally spreading and arms coming up to frame her face.
"Such a good girl," Bayley says, and Dakota's already flushed face grows even warmer. "You look so beautiful like this baby."
Shayna snaps a few pictures, before reaching her hand out and helping Dakota sit up. "Hands and knees," she says. Dakota nods, shifting to get on her hands and knees, as Shayna takes a few more pictures. "How are you feeling Kota?" Shayna asks between shots, coming up to sit next to her on the bed.
"Like if I don't have someone's hands on me soon I'm gonna lose it," Dakota replies, the blush on her cheeks deepening as it spreads down her neck.
"I'll tell you what. You be a good girl while I take some pictures of you without this on," Shayna begins, hooking a finger around Dakota's bra strap. "And you can have our hands on you however you want."
"Deal," Dakota says, eyes shining bright.
Shayna unhooks the bra, and lets it drop to the bed. She lifts Dakota's chin, and snaps a shot of the smaller girl on her hands and knees head tilted up. She gets another shot, this time of Dakota on her knees, hands behind her head.
“Alright love, you’re such a good girl,” Shayna says. “How do you want our hands on you?” she asks, setting the film camera aside.
Dakota lays back against the pillows, and her girls join her, one on each side. "Just make me feel good," she whispers. "Please."
"Okay darling, we'll do that," Shayna says. She and Bayley each take one of Dakota's breasts in their hands. Bayley gently begins the rub and squeeze Dakota's right breast, while Shayna makes small circles with her thumb over Dakota's left nipple.
"You're being such a good girl for us," Bayley whispers softly as they play with Dakota's chest. "Such a good girl."
"Thank you," Dakota says, blushing.
Shayna kisses Dakota's cheek. "Are you okay with one more set of photos?" she asks. "Maybe in the purple one, outside by the pool?"
Dakota looks up at Shayna and smiles. "Sure," she says. "Will you help me get dressed?"
"Of course," Shayna says. She reaches down for the shopping bag and pulls out the purple set. It's similar to the white one, soft and translucent material that slides along Dakota's skin with ease as Shayna dresses her in the lingerie. When she finishes, the looks Dakota over, smiling at her. "You look beautiful love," she says. Dakota opens her mouth to protest, but Shayna gives her a kiss, cutting off whatever she was going to say.
"Thank you," Dakota says, cheeks flushing as she looks up with a shy smile.
Bayley wraps Dakota in her arms. "Can I carry you outside baby?" she asks. Dakota nods, and Bayley kisses the top of her head. Picking Dakota up off the bed, Bayley carries the smaller girl down the stairs and outside to the pool. Shayna follows them with the camera.
"Alright, just relax right there," Shayna says as Bayley sets Dakota down on one of the lounge chairs by the pool. Dakota leans back, legs extended and crossed at the ankles, hands behind her head. "There's our pretty girl," Shayna coos, snapping picture after picture of Dakota.
Eventually, Shayna sets the camera down. She and Bayley scoop Dakota up and bring her back inside. "You were so good for us," Bayley says, stroking Dakota's hair as the three of them go into the living room.
"Such a good girl," Shayna adds, settling Dakota on her lap. "Now, how about some cuddles?" she asks.
Dakota nods eagerly. "Should I change into regular clothes first?" she asks.
Shayna shakes her head. "I want to see you in this for a little longer. Is that okay with you?" she asks. Dakota nods, a shy smile on her face.
So the trio spends the rest of the day cuddling on the couch, Dakota surrounded by the warmth and love of her girlfriends. Eventually Shayna gets up to make dinner and Dakota changes into regular clothes. They exchange more gifts, but Shayna and Bayley are secretly most excited about the coupon books. There's certainly no limit to the fun they'll have with this gift.

Literally what point is being made though? That other anon basically said that the autistic anon I'm talking about was "villianizing poc" when they fricking weren't? They didn't even bring POC up at all and yet people are assuming they did when all they said that they were already critical of the books. I'm pretty sure they are aware the books aren't perfect and have eck stuff. :/
Yes, I reread everything, I'm still not understanding what you're trying to say. Especially when you're allowing other anons to like, put words in someone's mouth or something. I don't think the anon was trying to excuse stuff anyways but explaining why they still read the books and worded it really terribly.
i don’t really understand how “don’t utilize your autisim to exempt you from being held accountable” and “doing this is harmful to the poc in this fandom who are hurt by the erins and their behaviours” is difficult to understand.
no one is putting words in their mouth. they literally say how autism keeps them from dropping the book series so they shouldn’t be harassed over reading the series. which isn’t even remotely true and no one is forcing them to drop the series. that was all that was said. then we went on the describe similar people not just that anon.
and i, as a black person of colour with native relatives and mutuals, brought up how that is shitty because it. literally is. but if youre not in my place you just dont get it ig. the issues in warriors will bother any person of colour and ofc it will bother them if you say stuff like “well im autistic so you cant be upset with me i cant control that”.. its villainizing because indigenous people are the ones who are rightfully upset. and to say that stuff is terrible in general.
like im autistic i get what anon was saying ik how they feel. but you cannot blame your autism for You deliberately choosing to consume media. and you can’t be upset with people who choose to drop the series and suggest you do the same because looking back they were referencing the anon before them. who was just expressing their feelings. and like even if poc are like mad because youre reading the book series. ok?? they have a right to bash you over the head for it as well.
