Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is literally the big brother of this little asshole
Tumblr media
Look at how sad this scene was tho, along with the times the old monkey and the others ostracized him. I don't know why he of all Yaoguais would think that he'd beat the Demon King Of Confusion with coconuts, but I guess this means he wasn't quite meant for the cudgel anyway.
In Xi You Ji, SWK got the golden as-you-will cudgel after he returned to Huagoushan from Patriarch Subhodi's place, so he was already trained and knew very well how to deal with weapons and fighting (not to mention his magic and other such things, like SWK knowing Taoism/Daoism as well as the Way), and then sharing that knowledge with his people. That's why the Puti Arc was a very important bit that the movie did not put in.
Tumblr media
Also what do you mean that Monkey King can just pull out his clones when that technique was taught by Subhodi/Puti too? Body-beyond-body is what it's called if I remember correctly, and yeah SWK was a monkey who can do almost everything but that doesn't mean he could just do that! It's annoying!
It also took him 2 decades (adding in the time that he journeyed through the two continents to find an immortal) to learn such lessons, so the movie was kind of a mockery to that fact. Wùkōng learned so many things from Subhodi's monastery that made all his achievements possible! Plot holes and other things, they could've at least mentioned or made a small montage for the arc.
Tumblr media
But Monkey King is just the more chaotic, impulsive, and egotistical version of Dàshèng, though Dàshèng had always been more empathetic between the two. I'm also putting in that he also has a soft spot for kids. Monkey King was quite the narcissist in the beginning. Very self-centered. Also it's kind of sad that 2023 is just called "Monkey King" bc he never went to Patriarch Subhodi (again, still salty about that; they could've made Subhodi a father figure to Monkey King since the Huagoushan monkeys didn't care for him that much, especially the old monkey) in this movie; thus never getting his Buddhist name.
My headcannon is that I'll be naming him with the combinations of "左 Zuǒ" [left; the Left (politics); east; unorthodox; queer; wrong; differing; opposite; variant of 佐; (Chinese surname meaning; to assist; assistant; aide; to accompany)] which is ironic since it was Lin who wanted to be his assistant, forced or otherwise, and not the other way around. The second part of his name are either "空 Kōng" which means (empty; air; sky; in vain) or "空隙 Kòngxì" which means (crack; gap between two objects). So the options are either Zuǒkōng or Zuǒkòngxì— "Left to void/nothingness"/ "Assisted to nothingness", but if anyone has a better idea or better knowledge about the systems of Chinese names then feel free to correct me.
The reason why it's not "Wùkōng" is because, again, the "Wù" part of the name which means; "Wake to" or "Awaken from/to". I know that Monkey King was still born from stone, or a geode in the movie,
Tumblr media
(Guanyin, in the book, was about to name him like she did with Sha Wujing and Zhu Wuneng, but SWK stopped her before she could, though the "Wu" would be quite dissolved with Monkey King 2023/Zuǒkōng/Zuǒkòngxi around before Tanzang came to Five Phases Mountain. Assuming the previous listed names I gave him holds, though the Bodhisattva Guanyin would still be able to change it.)
Tumblr media
(I am liking the name Zuǒkōng though, so I'm sticking with that.)
Monkey King is of course not completely irredeemable, bc soft spots and the fear of loneliness and all, as well as his eventual 'fondness' towards Lin— but I still think the movie could've done much better than making this Monkey King another version of Lego SWK (sorry for the LMK SWK fans out there, just not a great fan of the iteration).
Aside from the plot holes and the characterization of multiple important Daoist figures in the movie, like Yù Huáng and Ao Guang or even King Qin'guang/Yama, I feel like they could've made it more interesting and the fight scenes have more pizzaz. How they managed to make a Kaiju fight so underwhelming impresses me tbh, and the way Monkey King received his win is as underwhelming.
HONESTLY I have so much more to say but I keep forgetting my words so I'll add to this when I gather my thoughts jsnnsksmks
(No hate to the movie or the people that made them tho, I'm just salty.)

I know Leo is your favorite. I am curious what’s your opinion on Raph?
I love him! I actually love all the guys pretty much equally, it's just that I love Leo a tiny bit more.
The thing about Raph, though, is in some of the iterations he is reduced down to a base "angry guy" personality; and I prefer it when the writers tell us why he is angry, and show more aspects of who he is.
For example, the "why" being, as Splinter put it in my story "Something Wicked", when Raph got angry and punches things after... well, that's a spoiler:
"I am sorry if someone has hurt you in their anger," he said, placing his touch on the teen's arm. "But I swear to you that Raphael would never do so. He is first and foremost a protector, and he believes at this moment that he has failed in that charge. Would you feel any different, if one person you loved was missing, and two others unwell?"
He wants to protect people; that is his primary personality trait, not "angry guy". That is doubtless why he became Nightwatcher in the 2007 movie. It wasn't because he wanted to go out there bashing heads in (that was just a bonus), it was because he wanted to protect people, and when Leo left they stopped doing that. Interestingly, the things that Leo found distasteful about the Nightwatcher were very much the same things that Leo himself was doing in the jungle in South America, but it seems that Raph was actually more conscious of not killing anyone in the process (you can't tell me that Leo let that guy in the Jeep actually live... not with that blood-curdling scream).
But, yeah, Raph and Leo are actually very much alike in that they are protectors of others, except that Leo goes about it very differently. The jungle example notwithstanding, in most versions Leo is the big brother that goes to his younger sibling's bullies and gives them a calm warning; Raph is the big brother that goes to his younger sibling's bullies and pushes them against the wall and tells them to back the hell off or deal with him... then he goes home and smacks the younger sibling across the head.
He can be very soft when he wants to be, though, so those soft moments have much more of an impact. Like in Tales Of Leo in 2k3, when he was the only one to cry when he told his story; or in both Bayverse and MM when he confessed his love for his brothers when he thought they were all going to die; or how well he got along with little Yoshi in TMNT 3; or when, in the 2007 movie, he told Splinter about Leo getting taken; or in Batman Vs. TMNT when he lectured Batman about the importance of family. But one of the most heart-wrenching moments had to be in Same As It Never Was when he was dying and used his last ounces of strength to crawl to Leo's side.
And as I said, I love it when his other interests are put on display. Like when he is shown knitting and carving in Bayverse, or working on his bike in 2k3, or playing video games with the guys in whatever iteration. In the future world of the TMNT Archie run, he is shown to be married and runs a restaurant where he is the chef. And though it is not an interest, knowing that he is afraid of insects makes him seem more down-to-earth and less of just the tough turtle.
Some of his "traits", I must admit, are simply headcanons to me. Because of his protective nature, I like to think of him as a gifted medic (albeit one whose bedside manner could use some working on), whose medical knowledge is second only to Don's. Also, I picture him being able to speak Spanish, which he learned by hanging out with people in the Bronx (also where he picked up his distinct-in-the-family accent). Both of those things, again, I wrote into "Something Wicked", which even has a whole chapter about Raph called "The Protector".
So, yeah, I think Raph is awesome! I just wish we could see more of it onscreen, you know? I am really looking forward to how Tales Of The TMNT utilizes him!
Anyways, thank you for the ask! Sorry the answer was so long!

My AU main design post
Might be beta >w< Maybe I'll change something. People here make such interesting iterations and mine looks very basic.
But I'll post them anyway
Tumblr media
In the subject of eyes, I know that Leo's and Raph's eyes look a little strange in my drawings. It is intentionally so. I wanted to portray Leo's eyes so dark that instead of a pupil, only a reflection is visible. And Raph's eyes should look more animal-like because he's basically my AU's main victim)
Tumblr media
Leo: - Was appointed as oldest brother by Splinter. - Daddy's favorite. The best at many things that Splinter considers important. - Often refuses to participate in activities where he knows he will not be the best. - Arrogant, but afraid of the slightest dispraise. - Finds himself pretty cute. >w< - Minimum gear because he's that good. -Thinks black makes him look more ninja. - Quite a positive and adventurous person actually. He sees good in people. - And makes them feel a lot of cringe by telling them about it. - Come on, bad guys. Stop being bad. - A bit of a hypocrite as he thinks it's OK to beat up robbers while his whole family is stealing groceries.
Raph: - Was considered youngest due to the fact that he was lost in the first months after the mutation, but he fought his way to the second oldest position. Literally fought) - Obsessed with physical dominance. Puts strength training far ahead of stealth. - In fact, Splinter is the only one in the family on a relatively healthy diet with him. But they still don't get along and criticize each other in detail. - Likes to look monstrous and scare people. - Not exactly anger management issue... Rather, general cruelty towards humans plus inability to express emotions in a peaceful and quiet way. His brothers often can't tell if he just being loud for the sake of being loud or because something really happened. So they mostly ignore it all. This causes a lot of resentment. - He's pretty pessimistic and it's the hardest thing to get his trust. - In fact, he wants to be proved that he is wrong. - Almost no gear because he doesn't care. He will change his mind after the first major injury.
Donnie: - The middle child who is calm in this position because they all share the same birthday. And it's all stupid. - Considered the weakest fighter in the family, but generally too smart and strategic for that to be a problem. - He thought he would catch up with his brothers in training, but seeing how Leo and Raph jumping out of their shells, he realized he doesn't want to spend so much time on it instead of things he's really interested in. - Looks most human in proportion. Sometimes he dresses as a human to get into a place he really want. - Has an old grudge against Splinter that father does not appreciate his abilities enough and prefers playing ninjas with Leo. - It's mostly him who challenges Leo as a leader by criticizing his plans. - Technical genius. Compared to those around him) Can assemble almost anything. - Bonding with Mikey and Raph around this. - Sees the world in rather gloomy colors, but willingly jumps into any adventure if there is something interesting for him. - Carries a bag with all possible stuff. Outside of combat, he often lets Raph carry it. (He would never agree to carry it if he knew even half of what's inside) - All gear that he deemed reasonable to use. Mikey: - The youngest child, theoretically, and uses this position to his advantage. - Pretty acrobatic despite looking chubby. - Splinter thinks he's a gifted ninja, but Mikey keeps screwing up in training. - Maybe he doing it on purpose. Because it's very important for Leo to be the best and so on. - The best at cooking, but makes the kitchen a mess, which causes conflict with Raph, who also uses the kitchen. - Light and free spirited. Glad to make friends with anyone without questions. Often gets into trouble. -But he always gets saved and doesn't learn anything because he doesn't get the consequences. - The peacemaker. Knows when and what to say. - But often says something stupid just to see the result. - All the gear his brothers were able to get him to wear. Because the little one needs to be protected. - Wears cartoon character keychains and rattles them on missions, driving Leo crazy. Link to the post with all parts of this AU: url It's mostly at the very beginning >w<

Some of Sonic Underground’s Good Points
I probably did a post like this aeons ago, but damned if I can find it. Anyway, it’s a pretty well known fact that of all the shows Sonic’s ever had, Underground is easily the least well regarded.
Tumblr media
It’s not difficult to understand why, either. Between a premise that’s incredibly far removed from anyone’s idea of what Sonic is and the weird lack of Tails, even in a world were Underground had top notch writing and animation it was always going to be the red-headed stepchild of the franchise. And sadly, Underground’s writing was usually inconsistent at the best of times, and the jokes made about it’s shoddy animation and weird character designs are the stuff of fandom legend.
That being said, I do feel that even today the contempt this show receives is a bit much, and while it’s not a great show even on its own merits I don’t think it’s worthless.
So, I thought I’d mention a few things that I think are actually worthwhile about this show!
Dr. Robotnik’s Premise Is Actually Pretty Interesting
Tumblr media
Opening things with Robotnik? Me? It’s more likely than you think!
Alrighty, outdated memes aside, Robotnik’s schtick in this shoe is actually interesting as well as being pretty unique for a show like this. Robotnik, naturally, is the dictator of Mobius as he has been in at least three different pieces of Sonic media by this point. However what makes Underground Robotnik unique is that he functions more like an actual real world dictator- he relies on the support of the nobility to insure his reign, and in return for their support he allows them to basically do whatever so long as they pay their taxes, taxes which explicitly go to building more SwatBots.
In this regard, this iteration of Robotnik is prehaps the most ‘normal’ of any Eggman/Robotnik out there. He still turns people into robots, sure, but here it is utilized as a punishment for lawbreakers (which you know is pretty broadly applied here) rather than the default fate for anyone unfortunate enough to fall into his grasp. What makes things especially interesting is that one recurring plot point is that Robotnik wants to be the legitimate ruler of Mobius rather than strongarming his way into permanent power. Likewise, multiple episodes bring up the fact he needs to raise money in order to maintain his robot army, in particular ‘Artifact’. It’s actually kind of unique because usually when shows like this have a Supreme Dictator villain, little attention is actually paid to the logistics of how they maintain their power. Underground is unique in that it actually explores how Robotnik’s government actually functions, at least a little, and it’s an interesting detail I feel.
Sonia and Manic Are Actually Pretty Good
Tumblr media
One of the more controversial aspects of this series was that Sonic has a twin brother and sister this time around, with all three of them being royalty and subjected to prophecy. Just on paper that alone sounds like something so far removed from anyone’s idea of what Sonic is you have to wonder how it was ever conceived. That being said, this isn’t the first series to use the idea of Sonic having siblings- in Japan, the Sonic manga actually gave Sonic (or at least his alter ego, Nicky... long story there) a little sister, and at least one series overview gave Sonic FIVE sisters! As well as being from Nebraska... Sonic is a very weird franchise.
Alright, point of order! Sonia and Manic, Sonic’s siblings and co-stars. How do they measure up? Honestly... pretty well, all things considered. You’d never guess it, but they’re the recipients of some of the strongest writing in the show. Manic stands out because while he comes out as laid back and more morally lax than his siblings, a recurring element with his character is his desire for a more stable life as well as feeling overshadowed by his brother and sister due to his initial difficulties in mastering his medallion and comparative lack of exception (at least in his mind). Likewise he is the only one to express any kind of cynicism about where they’re going in this conflict, opining how there’s nothing that says they won’t be fighting Robotnik for twenty years without any end in sight. It’s an interesting contrast, given his rougher origins compared to his siblings, having been raised as part of a group of thieves by his foster father. It’s a lot of depth for a guy who sounds stoned out of his mind most of the time.
And then there’s Sonia! Sonia is remarkable for how much her character develops over the show. Being raised in an upper crust setting and being used to the finer things in life, Sonia initially starts out as someone who has the most trouble adjusting to her new life as a member of the Underground. This, naturally, does a lot to sour people’s perceptions of her given that she comes off as whiny and spoiled... and in fairness, she initially is. Over the course however she grows out of it, gradually shedding her old airs and beginning to take the conflict more and more seriously. It’s a pretty stark contrast to see how she was when the show began and how she is by the end of it, and it is to this show’s credit that she is shown to grow out of her more bratty phase.
Sonic having siblings might not be to everyone’s taste, and that’s understandable, but under the circumstances? It’s amazing Manic and Sonia actually do as well as they do as characters.
There Are, In Fact, Pretty Great Episodes
Tumblr media
Oh boy if that isn’t damning with faint praise I don’t know what is. But, all the same, it’s true! Yes, most of Underground’s episodes tended to be either unremarkable or outright bad, and that’s kind of unavoidable as the writing tended to vacillate between wanting to be a more serious and story driven show versus something more self-contained, episodic and comedic. In a way it kind of mirrors Archie in that regard. That being said, when this show bothered to make an effort? It could actually give us some pretty good stuff.
In “Healer” we witness the unique premise of someone promising a cure for Roboticization, and all the troubles that unfurl when this ‘harmless con’ captures the attention of not just Sonic and company, but Robotnik himself. In ‘Bartleby the Prisoner’ we get a look at long standing side character Bartleby finally getting an idea of what Robotnik’s empire is REALLY like for everyone who isn’t a member of the aristocracy when he’s used as a pawn in Robotnik’s latest scheme against the hedgehogs. And in ‘Six is A Crowd’ we are treated to a unique spin on the old ‘Evil Twin’ angle where the Underground is sent to a dimension where Robotnik is the hero and THEY are the villains... only for it to turn out that their ‘evil twins’ are not truly evil, but spoiled and utterly oblivious to just how harmful their actions are to the people of Mobius.
These are some of the best episodes the series have to offer, and they stand out all the more given the typical level of Underground’s writing. There are others, of course, and a large chunk of them are gonna come up later, but the point is there IS in fact Good Stuff in Underground... even if its relatively few and far between.
Location, location, location!
Tumblr media
If Underground had one unambiguously, objectively good idea? It was the Camper Van. Sure, calling this thing a ‘van’ is a bit of a stretch when it’s more like a mobile house, but this is easily the best idea that Underground had. Why? Because it allowed Sonic and his siblings to travel all over Mobius, and in doing so it allowed us to travel to multiple locales on the planet.
This is probably a minor detail compared to the others, and one of the best parts about Underground, I felt, was the fact we got to see our heroes go to so many places and meet so many people all across the planet. One of the big themes of Sonic in general is Sonic just running around and checking places out, and the sheer variety of stages from the Sonic Games help convey this. And in the case of Underground, the Camper Van provides an elegant solution in allowing Sonic and his siblings to travel the world, see the sights, and stick together. I’m being utterly sincere when I say that the Camper Van really is a great idea, because one of the strongest parts of the show was how we actually got to see such a great deal of Mobius while on the show.
And Then There’s Knuckles
Tumblr media
While Underground is pretty infamous for it’s premise and the inclusion of the (usually horrible) song interludes, the one thing that gives it a bit of positive attention is that it includes Knuckles. While it may seem strange to consider now, Knuckles was still fairly new at the time of this show, and as a result this is the only one of the old DiC shows to make use of Knuckles. Which is somewhat ironic, given that this is also the only show to not use Tails... funny how that works out, ain’t it?
And you know what? Knuckles is actually pretty good on this show. Oh sure, his voice isn’t really all that fitting for him, but otherwise Knuckles time on this show is actually pretty stellar. All of the episodes he appears in are among the better episodes on Underground, and his personal arc is actually pretty great to behold. Even after the obligatory ‘gets tricked by the bad guys and gets off on the wrong foot with Sonic’ bit, Knuckles remains wary of directly involving himself in the affairs of the surface due to the fact that his first duty is to the island and the protection of the Chaos Emerald... until circumstances force him into making a difficult choice between his guardianship of the island, his friendship with the hedgehogs, and the greater good of Mobius.
Knuckles’ appearance is comparatively brief on the show, but its pretty memorable for how much the show is able to fit in for that relatively brief period, and his episodes again are easily among the top tier of the show.
...on a lesser note, the hints he and Sonia dig each other are just hilarious,  because oh my GOD could you imagine Sonic’s reaction to those two dating?
Tumblr media
Anyway!
This isn’t a post to suggest that Underground is a hidden gem- on the whole, it is in fact a less than stellar show. Multiple aspects of it are poorly done, from the writing to the animation to the character designs. It’s main overreaching arc takes convoluted and sometimes even infuriating steps in order to continue having Aleena play keep away with her kids, and in some cases the more we learn the more questions we wind up having.
However, as I said, I don’t think this is a value-less show. And I think that it at least deserves some recognition for the things it DID do right, even in the face of all the things it did wrong.
... if nothing else, the intro is actually pretty bitching as well.
youtube
There’s something so, so fitting about the fact the actual best music of this series comes from the intro.

Let's see if tumblr will let me send this long of an ask
So, the Narrator is going into the worst iterations of the parable. And, because of his biases, it’s easy for him to assume that the bad situations are all being caused by that parable’s narrator. But in my opinion, it’s always been give-and-take between them. It has been made clear that both the Narrator and Stanley bear responsibility for their relationship. It makes me a little sad that Stanley always seems to be the "victim" in these scenarios.
General note: absolutely no shade to anyone who enjoys exploring this dynamic. This is just about my own personal preferences. I'm always interested in exploring how that balance gets shifted. Like, how can a Stanley flex their own power over their narrator to get what they want?
(If we wanted to take this idea to its extreme, what about a Stanley who torments their narrator?
For an easy example, we've all seen fic where Stanley uses the zending as a way to punish the narrator. Why not the skip button? We know that the parable is able to “patch up” a narrator after the events of the skip button ending. How often can it do that? How many times in a row?
Imagine a Stanley who is so tired of hearing their narrator’s stupid voice, they skip until the voice is broken, hollow. It recites only the essential lines, afraid that anything more will bring on another skip ending.)
Like I said, though, I like things a bit more grey.
Imagine a Stanley (Stanley-B, or “Bea”). Bea saw the credits - their narrator (Narrator-B, or "Barrator") did too, through their memory - but Bea doesn't believe it's real. He thinks it's just another one of its lies, when Barrator claims that it has nothing to do with the museum. When it claims that the credits are real, that both of them really are just a fiction, Bea refuses to fall for it.
The voice is forced to have the realization that its worst fears are correct, alone.
And then the game resets and the knowledge is gone. But for Barrator, that sense of dread, of something being terribly, terribly wrong, remains. It doesn't have the same feedback that the Narrator had with Stan, that allowed him to remember things. It spends a lot of time trying to figure out where the feeling is coming from. It hasn't felt anything like this since the skip button ending and that’s… troubling. But it’s groping around blindly in the dark for something that is no longer there. Barrator doesn't even know to look for the information in Bea’s head anymore.
Its frustration with Bea persists as well, but so does the feeling of wanting, needing them to both be on the same side.
It already tried being mean. It already went apeshit. It wants to try being nice.
It’s trying to be nice and Bea is making this so much harder than it needs to be! And yes, maybe Barrator *did* lie to him, and gaslight him, and demean him! Of course he doesn't trust the voice that’s done all these horrible things! But this is important! Why? …Barrator doesn’t know.
Without a good reason, Bea doesn’t care. Bea is so stubborn and so spiteful, that nothing gets through. He's still just trying to escape. But one thing that Barrator does believe, with its limited knowledge, is that escape is impossible. After all, how could they escape if neither of them is actually real?
(I'm sure there’s more things: ups and downs and nuances that can be figured out later, but anyway.)
Then this new narrator shows up saying that what Barrator has been telling them is untrue. It has been lying (as far as Bea is concerned). There is a way out. And Bea wants to escape at all costs.
you're not at all incorrect: the relationship is a two way street. there are a LOT of Stanleys who WERE more vindictive-- Lee went out of his way to cause trouble, Stanford was antagonistic. There was definitely a BIAS, from the Narrator, affecting his judgement, as well as an ingrained power imbalance. (How many endings are about Stanley dying? How many Parables has he ended up in where a narrator is a bad person? And he already has issues with his own perception of himself.)
this is good. this is really good, and important. it adds more color and depth to just how the Narrator, for all he is well intentioned and doing a GOOD THING, is still flawed and capable of hurting someone without meaning to. Because this iteration doesn't deserve to be abandoned, not like THIS. But because he's more inclined to believe and be on the side of a Stanley (and he gave up on reasoning with narrators a while ago), it doesn't even occur to him that maybe he's not the only party at fault.
taps lip. I feel like these folks could be really important in Reset The Actors on Stage. a big key theme that's coming up so far is that, while a lot of these narrators WERE awful, a lot of them just didn't see Stanley as a person. They were SO in the mindset that they created this world and were above their stanleys that they cant perceive more.
so when forced to address the concept that they aren't anything more than a part of the creation, not the creator, and that they have always been trapped in this battle of two ("Why don't I get a choice?" - Confusion ending); how is a person supposed to react to that?
Maybe, for this narrator, who didn't really feel any joy out of hurting this fellow but was hurt itself, who knew something was wrong but couldn't ever place it--Maybe this finally lets those memories slide back into place.
on a side note: I have to be honest, a lot of the reason this stuff was made in the first place, a KEY reason for its existence, is because of the fact there are a NUMBER of fics Ive found at one point where the narrator... uuuuugh. There's actual character growth in the fic, there's Stanley choosing to try to move them forward so they can change and grow, and then the Narrator goes against Stanley's wishes (doesnt even TELL HIM) and completely sets the game to zero. no memory of any of it for either of them.
like, I get it, the end is never the end, and "maybe this time things will be different", but I genuinely am so tired and upset at the end of those fics, because I read this thing, got emotionally invested, and got no payoff.
thats WHY Repeat and Write This Story exists at all. the narrator that lives in my head was getting LIVID at these stories where Stanley's choices are utterly dismissed. He wanted to DO something about it.
it just..... it got bigger than I expected.

Whoop, here we are on part 2. I was a little too impatient to wait until Tuesday, but updates are supposed to be weekly so I can write a little bit ahead. Keeping a regular schedule is tough, y'all. [Part 1] – [Part 3]

Pin a String to My Chest – 2
A chance meeting
He might have never been interested in anything physical, but he had eyes, and people watching was always entertaining. Sometimes, that led to watching specific people. Sometimes, those specific people took issues with his watching.
(Sometimes, some rare times, people didn't seem to mind it, much. Sometimes, it even seemed they agreed with what he had to say. It's how he ended up with the current iteration of Corroded Coffin, beyond their shared interests.)
And Eddie would notice things. He had noticed his mom stopped fighting against his father's verbal and emotional abuse, so he started doing it instead. He had noticed that some of the things he heard at school were pretty close to shit his father used to say, and Eddie simply refused to be anything like him.
It was a lot easier to be loud about shit when he realized that not everyone could be. His mom, Gareth, and that one kid he found in the school parking lot in his sophomore year. It brought the attention onto him, but he handled Richard Munson just fine, right?
He'd never expected anyone to come to his defense; loud and opinionated metalhead that decided being different actually made more sense? Yeah, right. He wasn't even considering the fact he lived in the trailer park with his uncle.
(No offense to Wayne, of course, the man knew what most of the town thought about them. He just repeatedly urged Eddie to stay safe.)
Eddie, though, was the protector of his little group; drawing attention to himself then running with it, often literally. He could take a punch or two. Had taken quite a few in this school year already.
He had taken a couple of punches just now, so Grant, newcomer to Hellfire that he was, could get home unhurt.
"Hey!" The next punch never came, and Eddie looked up to see Jackass of The Week being pulled away by none other than King Steve himself. "That's enough, get out of here."
Eddie frowned, but neither the Jackass nor Harrington were looking at him; Steve was simply staring the guy down. At least it wasn't anyone from Hargrove's little group, this whole mess would've gone oh so well…
A soft touch to his arm startled him out of his musings as Steve started moving and taking Jackass with him, and he crossed his arms over his chest on instinct.
"Oh, geez, I'm sorry!" The girl next to him exclaimed. The hallway was pretty much empty after Steve left, save for a few stragglers that were doing a terrible job of not watching them. She grimaced and added, "I didn't mean to startle you, or anything."
Eddie shook his head and glanced around. He prided himself in paying attention to the people around him, but he couldn't think of a reason why sophomore cheerleader Chrissy Cunningham would be talking to him.
"Here." She held out a tissue, offering a small smile. "You got, uh..." She grimaced once Eddie took the tissue, and gestured to his face. "You're bleeding."
And yeah, okay, he could feel the sting now that everything was calm once more. He turned to Chrissy with a faint smile, pressing the tissue to his lip and trying not to wince. It could've been worse, but the split lip was going to be annoying anyway.
"Thanks."
Her smile widened, and she was quick to say goodbye after that. Something about cheerleading practice, "not that I think you'd know much about it," but it was said without malice. It sounded somewhat like I know it's not something you're interested in and that's okay. Like I listen, actually.
Realizing, later, that Chrissy Cunningham did listen, and even seemed to consider some of the things he'd said?
It was refreshing.
Which made seeing the downward spiral that much worse.

I think Tsu is actually the most unhinged hero. Everyone sees him as this prim and proper hero who takes his image very seriously, and he IS, but he’s also just so CHAOTIC.
Seriously the man was in full nude during a fight In vigilantes because he had to use his own hero costume. And he wasn’t even EMBARRASSED. He has absolutely no shame, and I love him for it
No fr, he's genuinely one of the strangest characters I've ever encountered because every time I learn something new about him, he gets weirder
and I ADORE him for it
I think I'll actually go insane if I don't write it all down, so that's going below the cut
All this information is canon, take that how you will
Let's start with the fighting in the nude thing since you already mentioned it— He was totally naked that scene, he used up his entire costume (which makes sense) but he still actively chose to leave the part covering his face. Not only does he have no shame, he has priorities.
Tumblr media
His denim puns... was that something he always did, or did he come up with it to stay on brand??
The fact that he's always adjusting his hair. I would be too, if I also chose to rock that weird side sweep
This one's a little funky, but there's something about the way that he stands— Idk, it just sets off something in my brain (affectionate)
Tumblr media
Yeah
I don't think I even need to mention his neck
His proportions in general????
He has pockets on the back of his. collar? jollar?? They're on the back of his head is my point and they're like the ass pockets of pants and just WHAT DOES HE USE THEM FOR??
(My personal headcanon is that's where he keeps his comb)
The fact that he has an S+ rank in fashion sense, but the way he canonically dresses is... yeah
Tumblr media
He just looks so strange (affectionate)
(Ik it's not actually that out of place, but there's something about the four buttons on the pants and the suspenders/scarf (bandana??) combo and the. the bowling shoes. It just throws me off a bit. I feel like he can do better /lh)
SPEAKING OF HIS CLOTHES, we've seen at LEAST three or four different iterations of the same stupid costume. The changes are always so unnoticeable and it drives me a little bit insane
THE FACE BELT.
His taste in interior decor is... on brand
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wow I wonder what his favorite color is (sarcastic, affectionate)
(His home isn't actually that bad imo, but the office.) (There's more scenes of the office interior somewhere out there but they won't fit on this post, apologies.)
(The thread spool table. I can't tell if it's genius or insane.)
He was the president of a crafts club at a school that doesn't allow hero students to join clubs (anymore?) and now he's one of the top heroes of the country and I think that says a lot about him
He won the Best Jeanist award eight years in a row, which for a while SEVERELY confused me because did he name himself after the award, or was the award named after him? Because one of those is a little weird and the other one seems just a little unfair.
(This is how I learned that the Best Jeanist award is a REAL THING in Japan so he named himself after the award and that sent me reeling for a while)
The BJ belt buckle.
This image:
Tumblr media
This image:
Tumblr media
His hands are bigger than his face, which means that the fact that he's been hospitalized multiple times makes PERFECT sense
(my friend found a whole Stanford article written in the most hilarious way about the hand thing, and it's haunted me ever since) (I'd need to ask for the article again if anyone's curious but it's an... interesting read)
edit: I LIED I LIED THE ARTICLE IS SATIRE IT'S NOT REAL IT'S NOT REAL THE HAND THING (probably) ISN'T TRUE (it's still a hilarious read though so I'm still linking it)
(I'm going to pretend that it's real just because it is absolutely hysterical to me. Sir Nighteye and All Might also have hands bigger than their faces btw. For the record. Which is why I think it's awfully funny.)
Anyways
There's also this from Vigilantes, and I'm not even sure what to make of it
Tumblr media
It talks about how he's always so serious even when the situation is........ ridiculous
He's so eccentric I love him
Also that specific image gives fish want me, women fear me vibes /j
He drives the fucking Batmobile except it can shoot out metal wires
Tumblr media
(I've never read any DC comics; if the actual Batmobile can also shoot out metal wires, please forgive my oversight)
The fact that he JUMPED OUT OF A PLANE WITHOUT A PARACHUTE and STILL landed on his feet?? gracefully? on a cable???? With not a single hair out of place?????
ALSO the fact that he keeps on having such close encounters with death (he lost a lung, the whole Hawks and Dabi situation...) and yet he's. not dead. yet. somehow. Maybe he has multiple lives.
Is he just a cat?????
New conspiracy theory just dropped /j
Moral of the story is: Best Jeanist is, in fact, unhinged (and we love him for it)

You have a rainworld x undertale au? Do tell! Super interested!
Hmm i had a whole thing written and i took hours to write it and i was almost done telling you Frisk's life before they fell in my au but tumblr tumblred and deleted all of It 🥴 that's why it took me so long to answer this here lol i was mourning /j
Anyway i'll tell you a bit of it anyway. basically imagine the ancients were humans like two million years after our modern age. REMEMBER THIS. HUMANS = ANCIENTS. I WILL USE THESE WORDS INTERCHANGEABLY FROM THIS POINT. Everything happens as it usually would. The monsters get sealed (😔) time passed, Chara falls, except after they fall and That Entire Fiasco happens, the next humans to fall are spaced very far apart in time from each other. However, the Monsters don't know this because of Time Shenanigans. You know the drill. To them the normal amount of time between Frisk and Chara happens, and they think of humanity like us, not the ancients. The mountain is very conveniently placed in an area between different iterators, so it doesn't rain much there, by Rain world's standards. It does get all the other 'the earth is sinking' issues, but seeing as they quite literally live under a rock the Monsters still don't know this either. So now that ive finished making sure you know how for the monsters everything seems mostly the same except for the occasional odd item in the waterfall dump, let's move on to the ancients :)
They're still a whole hot mess, except they're humans. The whole legend about mount ebbot is forgotten, including what happened with Chara and Asriel, except maybe by the most avid mythology and history nerds. Again everything happens as it would, void fluid is discovered, religion religions everything, the iterators are built, the ancients ascend. Except not all of them want to ascend, and not all of them agreed with the iterator project ;)
I remember a pearl saying something about how some ancients decided to live on the surface despite the worsening conditions. I assumed they meant outside of the retaining wall. Now what if there was a movement about it? All those who disagreed with the iterator project AND all those who disagreed with the current way religious folks ran everything and promoted suffering in order to ascend decided they they were going to leave the iterator grounds when the Mass Ascension was announced. However they didn't come back once It was dome, because a big part of those who left disapproved of the iterators. Since they and the rest of the crowd couldn't afford to split up (they would likely die) and a lot of iterators already resented them for leaving like that and from the sparse communication they still kept, apparently would no longer host them they just decided to all stick together (not the entire population; think tribes and clans) and not go back to any of the iterators, be they willing or not. So they stayed out of the retaining grounds, as wandering tribes. The iterators see this and decide that anyone who helps an ancient will be labeled a traitor, since they (the ancients) wouldn't help them. (These decisions are made over a long period, not immediatly after the Mass Ascension). Of course there are many exceptions and many who disagree, but they mostly keep it a secret to avoid being ostracized.
Over time the ancients forget much of what brought them to live on the surface rather than above the clouds, and it all becomes stories told around the fire, with all the expected distortions of reality. Iterators basically become boogeymen lmao. Except they're very real, and in most tribes people are told to ignore the overseers lest they get taken away or cursed or modified or whatever.
Years and years pass and the whole Five Pebbles Fiasco also happens, Moon collapses (😔) and so on. Now we are paste Monk's time, but before the Rivulet is even born. So pebbsi is Not Doing So Hot but he also retains most of his processes.
Here comes a little child, like 8 years old or so in a tribe a few days' walk away from the outer expanse. They're very curious, always asking questions like 'why are the iterators evil' and 'why are we walking among ruins of cities' and 'what do mean we abandoned society for living in the cycle' and other such questions that aren't very easily answered. They're not very liked amongst the adults. This is also one of the tribes that clung to ascension religion the most (😔) so there's a lot of pressure to not let the natural urges happen without explanation as to why they have to do that. Which Frisk also asks questions about and is promptly told to just Do It and don't ask questions about it. They're a very adventurous child as well, and nobody really keeps much of an eye on them, so they often run off into the wild and come back days later if not found. The only reason they survive is often a scavenger or wandering slugcat (family) found them, went 'voids below that is a CHILD' and helped them not die until they were found or made it back. (Btw they all trade in this. Scavs🤝Slugcats🤝Humans. There is a bit of a feeling of superiority going on from scavs to slugcats and from humans to both scavs and slugcats, but if it came down to it you know none of them would take any shit from any other species. Relations are normal game relations between scavs and slugcats and read the above for humans with everything else, obviously sprinkled with a lot of wariness because oH nO ThEyRe WiLd aNiMaLs We CaNt TrUsT tHeM bLiNdlY. Only the second part of that sentence is completely true (that's just how things work in the wild i guess))
One funny day the tribe has decided to leave the place they're staying in because there's not enough resources to go around anymore. They're departing in a few days. Frisk does not know this and goes on one of their little adventure trips. By the time they come back the tribe is gone. (No one realized they weren't there, or they just didn't care. But either way they're alone now.)
They spend a few days waiting around, hoping someone comes back for them. They're good enough at foraging and hunting small animals (think baby centipedes, batflies) and making small fires that they do pretty well on their own for the time being. (This may sound unreasonable for an 8 year old, but keep in mind this is all they've been taught since birth, considering the nature of the settlements they've lived). When this doesn't work, they try to go looking for their tribe. They are unsuccessful, but they keep trying. For months. (What they don't know is, their clan went the way opposite of the outer expanse, while they went towards it. Although in circles, because they didn't know which way to go. That's why they take so long to get there.) One blessed evening, they find themselves in this lush and warm place (it's warmer as you get closer to the iterators). As they look for somewhere to stay the night they find a huge tree and oH THERES THANGS IN HERE.
The Thangs are Survivor and Monk, Who look at the very malnourished and very human child in front of them and think about it for exactly half a second before deciding to help them to the best of their ability. Frisk, who despite their skill, is still a child in the middle of a hostile wasteland, all but collapses at the promise of safety, even if they don't know yet what Surv and Monk are thinking. They just know slugcats are safe.
Aaand that's all for now! I have. A LOT more to tell before they finally fall in the underground but i aint rewriting all 'at
Extra trivia time!
Frisk isn't their name (yet) here. They have one of those excessively complicated ancient names here, but i haven't quite decided on it yet.
The atmosphere is extremely different from today's atmosphere. Humans didn't really evolve alongside it, so they have to wear masks that process the air for them in order to be able to breathe, under the ornamental masks, or incorporated within them. People are mostly able to scavenge or trade for the materials needed to make and repair them. Those who make masks are like the most important people in a clan, second to those who lead it.
Speaking of, the ornamental masks are still here! Although not as flashy as any you would have seen before the Mass ascension. They're also obviously not made from gold. Or metal usually either. Most are made of wood or bone from the animals they hunt. Occasionally people will have them made of metal, but that's for those leaders who are full of themselves. People will also make the mask prettier by hanging broken or otherwise useless pearls on them, or pretty rocks, plants, painting them, etc. They can be separated from the breathing part of the mask, and often are when hunting or foraging for example, unless they have an intimidation factor. Frisk has a carved and painted vulture mask to go with their breathing mask.
Frisk's breathing mask has been needing new filters for a while. You may understand where we would need to go to change and repair them in the absence of humans. ;)
Frisk is pretty good with spears and knives and weapons for a child. They don't do much damage though, think Gourmand when tired, but they can still lodge spears into walls if they try hard. Their time with slugcats and scavengers in the outer expanse will help them get even better and learn 💥movement tech💥. Or as much of it as they can since their weight center and strength is pretty different from a slugcat's.
When Frisk falls, they are absolutely gobsmacked, bamboozled, flabbergasted, astounded and astonished to see a house that isn't in ruins. They are even more flabbergasted to see a society that is full of stable, warm houses that don't move. They are even more surprised at regular house appliances. The discovery of yet another intelligent species doesn't surprise them as much as it should compared to all this. (Toriel is very worried about their wonder at normal everyday things)
The Mark of Communication allows those who have it to understand every language, but not speak it. Frisk is very quiet in their first few weeks in the underground, while they absorb the vocabulary (Toriel is also worried about this, but less since she has met kids who didn't like to speak before). The Monk and the Survivor can understand Frisk regardless of the language they speak thankfully so they don't have as many problems there even before they could speak fluent slugspeak. Or scavspeak. (Yes they are mostly sign based languages 😌)
Don't ask me how the cycle works in this au pretty please 🥰 all i know for now is Monsters are still bound to it, but in a different way to everything else in the world.
Frisk can speak, but often would rather sign. This won't come up much in the story though, it was mostly only bothering them when they were around other humans. Yes they are autistic no humans do not know what autism is.
Undyne will be Thrilled™ to see their skill in evading and fighting. Especially since they already have a spear. ("Finally a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!" But the opponent is still a very pacifist child. [I'll explain how this happens in another post. Hopefully.])
When i say the ancients are humans i don't mean like us. They're still very much looking like the murals, at least before the Mass ascension. ...Well mostly the wealthy, but the human genetic code has been altered to hell and back so the poor didn't look too different anyway. While lot of it doesn't show after generations of not-human traits not being activated and reactivated and added, Frisk does have features that aren't quite normal for today's human beings. For example, their skin is adapted to the weather, they retain warmth easily, and they can see better in the dark than we do. There's also cosmetic oddities, but i haven't decided on those. There's more traits that are in their DNA that could be activated, but there is no way or reason to in their current situation.
Frisk is no longer eight by the time they fall. They are nine or ten, but if they're nine they're on the older side of it.
I think that's all. If anyone who sees this has any questions, about Rain World or about undertale or about this crossover in particular, feel free to ask in the comments or with a reblog or an ask! I would love to talk about this but i am terribly undermotivated. I have so many ideas and so little patience to say them........

okay I was going to wait until I had more drawings but I’m impatient
Tumblr media
Coraline AU! Starring Five Pebbles as Coraline, Big Sis Moon as The Beldam Other Mother, Seven Red Suns as Other Wybie, and No Significant Harassment as Other Mr. Bobinsky!
I’m not too sure of everyone’s roles yet (besides the ones up above), but I’m thinking of either Artificer or Gourmand taking Ms. Spink and Forcible’s places, since they both have slugpups. They wouldn’t have an Other version though, I think. Maybe Grey Wind and Unparalleled Innocence could take the Other Spink & Forcible’s roles? I’m not well versed with either iterator, so anything could happen.
There may not be anyone to play the Cat’s role, since Pebbles is suspicious from the get go. If someone does end up as the Cat, it’ll (obviously) be one of the scugs.
I really want to have someone play the Other Father role because his song slaps but I have no idea. Any suggestions?
Bit of body horror (HLL) + more abt the au under the cut
Tumblr media
-Hunter takes the place of the main rat/mouse, but the other rats are all tiny (and very fast) BLLs. Pebbles never gets good looks at them until the Other World is falling apart.
-Five Pebbles knows something is off with the Other World almost immediately, but he stays anyway because… well, he’s been alone for so long, he just wants his group back :[
-Other Suns has a mouth, but I don’t think they can talk. Every Other iterator has a mouth.
-All Other characters that try to help Pebbles have their buttons sewn on in an X. Ones like Other Moon and Other NSH/Hunter have their buttons sewn on in a plus.
-this is a little embarrassing to admit but in case you noticed that Other NSH and Suns look a little weird… I did too. I want to fix it, but if I erase any more I’ll tear up the page >:| (the other drawing doesn’t have this problem because it’s a new sketchbook, thank god)
-If you’re wondering about Sliver of Straw, they may play a key part in this au, but I’m not too sure yet…
-to anyone who noticed the difference between the v-type neck things and the o-type ones, older iterator puppets have the V while newer ones have the O.
-None of the characters have set color palettes. I don’t color any of my pages (coloring scares me lol) so you can go crazy! the only things set in stone are that NSH has a scarf and his forehead symbol is on the back of his outfit. even Suns’s antenna are subject to change.
-not really important to the au, but Other Hunter’s design is inspired by the Rotten, a very interesting character concept on youtube. If anyone wants to watch (please do, it’s very cool) just beware of the major body horror aspect. that aside, the link is right here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FFM2nBUKB2M&pp=ygUVUmFpbiB3b3JsZCB0aGUgcm90dGVu

Thoughts on TMNT: Mutant Mayhem
Without spoilers, I feel the need to say that to anyone considering the film just as a warning it does contain flashing lights, scenes that may trigger ementophobia, and severe body horror. Spoilers below:
I don't usually write my thoughts on films but I saw mutant mayhem today and I have MANY THOUGHTS and no one to talk to about them so here are some of my thoughts on the movie:
I really liked that Donatello wasn't portrayed as a super genius like he is in a lot of the other iterations, he is my favorite turtle and I don't dislike this characterization, but I do think that making him a more realistically nerdy kid helped him feel more like a normal teenager. (though I really did not like his interest in attack on titan like kid that's fascist propaganda get outta there!)
I loved how ugly all the baby mutants look and I mean this in the most affectionate way possible, baby superfly my beloved.
Tumblr media
The shell cracking scene was BRUTAL, in fact the whole movie was kind of brutal like Splinter kills a man on screen I am very surprised that the age rating isn't higher, and it probably should have been anyway because it did seem like they were going for a darker tone at some points.
Speaking of, maybe I just missed some things but I feel like some scenes were cut or some context was left out because when the turtles leave TCRI with Splinter he says he is taking them home, but in the next scene we see them he's going with the turtles to stop superfly? Maybe I misheard or he was saying it as a joke but I was a little confused.
Speaking of, I really enjoyed the music and voices but was it just me or was it hard to make out what the turtles were saying sometimes?
The scene where the mutants accept the turtles also felt a bit oddly paced, and the mutated version of superfly confused me a bit because of the zoo animals mutated on him, though from what I read I guess when he fell through that building there was a zoo underneath? I don't remember them saying that though.
The ages of the characters was also a confusing point, Splinter explains that he and the turtles are different ages because he was mutated when he was older and they were mutated when they were young, but we see all the other mutants as babies in Baxter's lab so how come they are different ages? The only thought I have would be maybe they age differently depending on how their animal counterpart ages but I really have no idea.
I don't know how I feel about Leo's crush on April but I do think it was handled better than Donnie's crush in the 2012 version of TMNT, and I like that it wasn't the main focus of their relationship.
I feel like some of the mutants should have been used more? I don't remember a whole lot about Leatherhead, Ray Filet, and Genghis, there's a big cast of characters so it isn't too big a problem, but it was noticeable.
I really love the found family aspect of the film though, it's cool seeing the mutants be a lot more humanized than the other series, and I thought the Scumbug and Splinter relationship was a welcome surprise. (Though it's also a little unfortunate cause she was kind of a baddie and I don't want to be in a polycule with Splinter /hj)
I really liked this version of Splinter though I thought his design was very cute and I thought the difference between him and Superfly in terms of how they reacted to more or less the same predicament made them really good foils to one another.
I need to get my grubby little hands on the model for Superfly's final form oh my god not enough people are talking about that thing and I don't know whether I adore it or absolutely hate it because it taps into a very specific fear that I have of designs like that but I also love it because of that like he is SO horrific and I need to fully understand everything going on in that design right now.
I really loved the art style, I thought it was a bit strange at first but after I got used to it I love just how much fun the shapes are in this movie!
I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the ending; I'm not entirely sure what message I am supposed to take away from it. Upon first viewing it seemed like the movie was communicating that the reason the turtles became liked was because they saved people, and that was the only reason they would ever be accepted- and April supports that fact at the beginning of the movie too. They're teenagers, and I think it is incredibly unfair that they would have to save the entire city just to be treated like kids instead of monsters, and it's even stranger because the only reason the public's opinion of them changes is because they are fighting a "bad" mutant. Which- maybe it's better that they see Superfly as bad instead of every mutant but I still think there's something kind of strange about that ordeal, I mean if any new mutants showed up will humans assume they're "good" like the turtles, or will they think they are "bad" like Superfly? Are the turtles and the others only accepted because they got rid of a "bad" member of their kind? I feel like that has some odd implications, though I guess I'm not supposed to think about it that much. But after thinking on it more, maybe it's moreso supposed to be about how instead of wanting to destroy the world, they tried to work to change and improve it, and that's what got them accepted, being "good" despite the circumstances. I feel like the latter is the more intended message, but I can see how the former could still be interpreted as well, I suppose it depends on how you look at it.
Overall I really enjoyed the movie, I didn't like it more than Rise's film, which is my favorite TMNT movie, but I think it is a close second! I'm excited to see where Mutant Mayhem goes from here!

Alright Mutant Mayhem post, I just got back from the movies so these takes are are all of my first un unfiltered thoughts
SPOILERS AHEAD
First off the animation style : Absolutely Amazing,
Very claymation like, and although I see the comparison to Spiderverse, I think it’s completely unique,
If anything it reminds me of The Mitchell’s Vs The Machines
Next the cast : Absolutely Amazing
The way the characters had so much energy and just bounced off of each other. The kids that voiced the turtles really did great, everything they said felt very natural, and like teenagers actually talk. It was A LOT of pop culture references, but while a little cringey, none of them felt forced.
I absolutely LOVED this version of April and she’s currently fighting IDW April for the “best april” spot in my head. Again Ayo did a great job and I can’t imagine anyone else in the role. A fresh take while still being true to the character
And of course Splinter carried the movie. Jackie Chan was incredible as always, and this is splinter is truly the best dad. He was really just looking out for his sons, and doing anything and everything he could to make them both safe and happy.
I’m never going to get over Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko
And Natasia Demetriou was perfect (hearing her definitely through me off guard though, just cause I’m a wwdits fan, and I though her being the bat was very silly)
Overall thoughts :
If anything I found myself a bit distracted through the movie. Getting caught up comparing things to the TMNT I already know. Learning to accept that while, similar this one’s different, a new take on a beloved series.
I wasn’t comparing it as “worse or better” but seeing the similarities to certain comic issues and runs, and assuming that I knew what was going to happen based off of those. Super fly is just like Hob, Cynthia Utrom is Bishop, ect.
And while those comparisons are both interesting and fun, I was getting too into it, and overlooking what THIS movie was trying to do and say (which is a problem that I think a lot of comics fans run into)
OK critiques : I tend to be nit-picky but I only have a few this time
The Mutanimals,,,, (that what I’m calling them here y’know who I mean) their were ALOT OF THEM and I feel like they all weren’t utilized in the film, and used to cast stars who would only have a couple lines, and probably sell more toys (which, let’s be honest, is the biggest reason TMNT exists now)
Bebop and Rocksteady didn’t really do anything, I swear Leatherhead had two lines, I completely forgot about Ghengis Frog, Rey Fillet was literally just Post, and the only ones who felt like real characters were Mondo Gecko and Wingnut (and I might be bias cause I love them) and slug lady???
The way they almost immediately turned on superfly, their older brother, who was clearly like a father to them, with no hesitation?? One second their down for mass murder, and the next their helping the turtles???
Their actors and designs were cool, but the movie was only 1:35 or something, I feel like a bit more character development for them could’ve been put in
The timeline? Also a bit confusing, and implies that every mutant other than Splinter, Slug Lady, and Superfly is 15. Which I don’t think is true.
But all of the Mutanimals were shows to be babies/toddlers in the 15 year flashback?? And they all seemed like infants in Stockmans lab (other than superfly whose a couple years older) and older slug lady would’ve been tiny anyway
But I just got a little confused
And lastly the ENDING :
I really didn’t think they’d actually make it to highschool!! This is honesty super interesting and opens up the story for a lot of new plots and takes, doing things that the turtles could never do in previous iterations. It makes me very excited for what could come next for them
Their in the real world
People know them
They could have actual futures
(I’m very curious to how taxes and stuff work for splinter now, but I doubt it’ll ever get into that)
AND THE SHREDDER TEASE
Very hyped for what’s coming next, left the theater ranting to my sister about how I hope Karai will be in the next one too.
And with the backstory loosing that tie to the Foot, I’m really wondering how things will go down
And worried for how underprepared they are for someone like shredder

INTRO
Hello! You can call me Subspace, Tripmine, Trip, or whatever you want, I genuinely don't care unless it's weird. I use he/rot/it/poison pronouns. I am a spiritual fictionkin, this is not roleplay. I identify heavily with the past life I had, aka Subspace Tripmine. You could say I am an IRL, but I'm not delusional, just for clarification. I'm a 20 year old trans man who likes neopronouns and xenogenders. I am also autistic, so I'm developmentally delayed, but I will not use it as an excuse to be weird. I'm just adding it to this post for reader's discretion. I am a digital/traditional art hobbyist and I have special interests in biology, evolution, the multiverse theory, and Rainworld. Everything about Rainworld. The game inner-workings, the food chain, the superstructures, the iterators, and the lore. Literally everything. Also MyHouse.WAD! Phighting spiritual fictionkins/alters are very encouraged to interact, but please don't roleplay with me, or at the very least, don't "be a character." It makes me feel like I'm not real and feels like mocking.
I am engaged to my Medkit but I am willing to interact with other Medkits and anyone who had a past life in Phighting at all in any shape or form, honestly. I may have been a destructive asshole but I actually miss people, even if it's a little bit. In a relaxed and trusted environment I may ease up and be kinda snarky or jokingly conniving. Sometimes I slip into my old personality, but it's usually a facade/joke and being playful for familiarity. I always try to clarify when I'm being genuine/serious. I am rather respectful and friendly when it comes down to it. If you're wondering if you can interact with me, I really don't care if you do. I may respond really slow because it's hard to check anything but discord (and I can even give you my discord if you want to talk to me that badly /GEN /LH,) but I do try to respond when I see it, or eventually at the very least. If I don't respond I probably don't know what to say.
Anyways, that's this intro post out of the way. I hope if you cared to read all of this that you feel more knowledgeable about me. Also, the entire post is genuine/serious. I'm clarifying so I don't have to sprinkle tone tags everywhere. BTW You can find a lot of my Phighting art on Pinterest under poisonousfreakazoid or poisonfreak idk how Pinterest works tbh but smth like that.

💝 Metal, second chance shadow, Mephiles, and semimodern
the outline for this has been sitting in my drafts since apparently september 10, so i'm glad past me had the smarts to include a link to the ask game this came from
💝 A headcanon about their love language
metal:
i'm sure i've iterated on this point a few times, but in general metal's not one for Things so much as actions. things do not have much meaning to him unless their utility is immediately evident, and he's absolutely dreadful at gift-giving. frankly the concept is so beyond his grasp it doesn't even occur to him as an option when left to his own devices.
it's just all around much more natural and intuitive for him to act on something immediately when it's clear something needs doing. is there a task he could quickly and effectively do, so shadow doesn't have to do it for whatever legitimate reason? okay, easy, not even a question. why wouldn't he do that thing before anyone has a chance to even ask him? is there something material (like, say, a whole motorcycle) shadow is eyeing while metal is right there? well, metal still has a comical amount of currency due to past Shenanigans™️, so why not? (this sort of thing in particular is extremely rare, but still.)
or, more self-interested, just generally being close. the benefit the two get from contact and spending time together is extremely mutual. metal is just a tiny bit sappier about it in comparison to shadow. which shadow is largely unaware of on account of being so used to (and spoiled by) openly affectionate company these days.
second chance shadow:
depends on the person. for metal, it's actions and all the little things like including him in things he doesn't necessarily need to be included in, fixing dents and paint chips, etc. their dynamic from the very beginning has always been shadow treating metal no differently than any other person.
for a certain other person, it's mostly about exploring new places and foods. she basically introduced him to the concept of enjoying food for the taste/experience, rather than dealing with it for the sake of fuel, so he very much learned it from her and instinctively returns it in kind.
for others, it's largely a matter of suspending his outward image for the sake of their benefit. not to the point of total martyrdom or sacrificing his own comfort, but little things. if they're upset, he'll offer his hand or let them hug him when he normally wouldn't be so open to that sort of thing unless he himself is already somewhat attached to that person. he's not opposed to contact from strangers/near-strangers or anything, but if it's a toss-up between maintaining a facade he doesn't even bother keeping up 90% of the time anymore anyway, and comforting a person in need, the latter will always win.
you might say that empathy and habitual drive to bring comfort is coded into him.
semi-modern shadow:
this is going to sound funny next to all the other responses, but literally just his presence. if semi-modern doesn't want to be found, he will not be found. if semi-modern does not want to talk to you, you will not be able to contact him. this makes up a majority of his existence in relation to just about everyone outside of team dark, and even they don't get to see him all the time.
but he makes exceptions. he makes it a silent, but noticeable point, to spend time with rouge and omega outside of missions/hiding in his room to rest. be that just a walk, for a quick meal, whatever. it's his presence that matters in those moments, more than his contribution to conversation, and so on. which speaks volumes compared to how little he bothers to stick around with others outside of necessities.
he's also a bit known for quietly leaving things in common areas for people. like leaving a package of rouge's favorite foods, or a pack of bullets for that really specific antique gun omega has, on the table. he doesn't make a show of who it came from or why; they know it was him, and that's all that really matters. even if it wasn't obvious, he doesn't do it for the acknowledgement, he does it literally just because he was thinking of a person important to him and wanted to do the thing. in those cases, it's usually because he saw those things while he was already out and about, not that he went out of his way to get them.
redeemed god mephiles:
pre-revival they're impossible to answer for outside of "the reflexive urge to protect [semi-modern]". so let's go with post-revival, after they've returned to and once again fallen from godhood, and finally reunited with semi-modern in a new form.
in their capacity as almost-a-god-again and eventually solaris-again, their love is that of a typical fantasy god. even after they return to a tinier, fragmented version of themself with diminished powers, they retain the ability to remotely "check in" with certain individuals following the event this whole arc stems from.
they're rarely visible, and the person might only get the vague sense of comfort if they're standing in the sun, near a fire, or catching a coastal breeze. maybe the person will dream of something indescribably safe and warm and incomprehensibly gentle. in exceptionally rare cases, they may even appear to the person in those dreams, against a golden-white backdrop. maybe the person will wake with a lingering sense of comfort and minor ailments lessened, but the why or how of it fades within minutes just like any other dream.
they more or less go from being an eccentric little gremlin to a refined, dignified obviously-a-god's-mind-in-a-smaller-body presence, and a lot of their actions follow suit. gone is goofy guy mephiles subtly demanding attention and company, replaced instead by a gentle mini-solaris, all memories intact, subtly guiding and supporting without biased influence. giving their charges the agency to make their own decisions is, in a way, some of their love language too.

DSB Sun Wukong with Duelist s/o: Ruler of Tuners
Official first part folks! No matter the iteration, Sun Wukong is the Monkey King. Whether it be normal monkeys, monkey yaoguai or both, he is the king. So this came in mind for this particular headcanon. It's mainly set in Sun Wukong's perspective so I hope it turns out good. Can be read gender neutral or preferred gender! Enjoy.
Sun Wukong curiosity had never been peaked so much for the entirety of his immortal life. Sure he seen all of sorts of wonders and indulged in its treasures. But none of them were like you.
It began with your strange contraption, a 'Duel Runner' you called it. And those monsters you brought to life from playing cards. The same type of card where you returned your device too.
For a mortal, you made this bizarre group even more stranger but in an appealing and manageable way. You didn't take shit from anyone, he wasn't an exception either. Threats filled with fire when certain lines were crossed.
The pig, Zhu Bajie didn't slack off so much under your watchful eye. You made a compromise that if he did some work each day, then you'll do his duties for the next. Never seen the flirt being so quick to work.
The group needed an negotiator as the monk wasn't the best at it. (Well more like his three yaoguai disciples go a bit overboard in their own ways.) Luckily you had the skills to do just that.
Negotiations were either peaceful or borderline threats depending on who you were talking too. The Monkey King really enjoyed the threatening ones as you brought your peculiar summons for extra assurance. (Especially when the one under threat soiled themselves.)
What made Sun Wukong the most curious is the smaller monsters that you brought out from time to time. Most barely reaching his true form's shoulders while a few were a bit taller or tiny to said form.
Some were mechanical, beasts of some kind, peculiar animals to even dragons. Tuner Monsters you called them and how you usually brought out the bigger more powerful 'Synchro' monsters. What was adorable is that you have nicknames for every one of them.
Amongst them all, you tend to summon one in particular. A small orange robot called Junk Synchron, one which affectionately named Tinker. To him, this strange creature is cute to say the least.
Always trying to assist in anyway he could. Tending the fire, gathering wood, or just try to provide moral support. Baldy definitely been more relaxed with the little 'warrior' around.
He did try to scare Tinker only for the machine to punch him in the face! "My little bud doesn't like scares. Not the first time he punched someone and it won't be the last." Duly noted. A decent punch though.
Speaking of you, these Tuners often flock around as if you were their ruler. Whether they were dragons, flying rabbits to even imps of all kind, love and affection were always shown.
Sun Wukong honestly chuckled at the thought. A pair of royalty in this makeshift disaster of a group. Who would've thought?
Maybe a courting ritual is in order. Your courteous reaction to his true form only solidified this thought further.
'Ruler of Tuners and Sage of Synchro'. Perfect title for the potential mate of the Monkey King, Great Sage Equal To Heaven: Sun Wukong.
It looks like the a certain stone monkey is thinking about courting Duelist Reader. He seems like the type to be invested in interesting individuals. *Looks at DSB*
Junk Synchron had been a big influence to the entire Synchro era, not just being a good card in general. Trust me when I say it's rare to come across a Synchro deck not running a Junk Synchron in some shape or form.
I believe the next headcanon might be the time where our Reader brings out their signature monster and takes the 'White Dragon Horse'.
Until next time folks, I'll see you back on the journey westward. Here is Junk Synchron!

Since you replied, I'll elaborate (jk, I was gonna do that anyways) enot's funky little trait is spawning those singularity eggs every cycle, so if enot was engineered by an iterator, it's obviously meant to be ascendy. but the egg doesn't actually permakill or ascend anyone, so it's a failure. But it does succeed in a different way. It warps reality! this is best showed in the dating sim thing, as every time the egg is used, or cracked, it causes some pretty weird reality-bending (in one case, just making a whole new universe) in the standard game it just acts like a regular singularity bomb, but you could also interpret that the weirdness of the Enot campaign is due to the egg's influence. Enot on their own is (mostly) like a regular slugcat. It's when they bring along the egg that things get all funky and, of course, the dating sim setting itself! you unlock it by ascending as Enot, which implies that rather than truly ascending, they ended up resetting the cycles in a new alternate universe or timeline, and the routes where they end up using the egg causes further weirdness... and most notably, Saint knows about this and has tried to break the cycles using it! it's implied it just resets the cycle instead, though. So, thanks to enot your au could technically be cannon! (Thx to bluenightold for putting this in my brain. And sorry that this is excessively long :( )
You're good with having it really long- I like reading people's rambles as a whole!
Void in general causes reality warping properties, we can see this in general with echos, singularity bombs, and karma flowers which all have void fluid in them from what we can see of the effects.
Even Rubicon has this odd effect of changing properties of things, and is probably closer to the void freaking the fuck out from Saint... Saint-ness. We can see the creatures with void in them as a whole tend to have a lot more energy and movement. given the destruction too it's likely that void has a stupid amount of energy but also highly corrosive by all means.
It's very interesting as a whole, given the fact this means there's an unnatural vs natural power sources issue within the game and likely has been in affect in the past given that the emergency power batteries (known as Rarefaction cells)! which act nearly exactly like singularity cells if destroyed via a leviathan if not a bit worse. probably a bit more of the aftershock (best word to use I suppose) is affected and twisted much worse to the point where artificer can not survive the aftershocks... but given it's literally warping everything with the amount of energy produced, it's like a much worse version of breaking the wind barrier in a way. Probably a very painful death given everything.
Saint is definitely fucked up! and I love it. it's very fun to imagine the relationship of em in my own hc and aus of these lil guys :)!!
