Another book I'm reading is mentioning Freud and I'm just screaming and foaming at the mouth. Once again advocating for censorship in regards to Freud only because I hate him so much. Never mention him to me again.

On this level one would have only to demonstrate that Jung has confused instinct and habit. In his view, in fact, the collective unconscious is bound up with the cerebral structure, the myths and archetypes are permanent engrams of the race. I hope I have shown that nothing of the sort is the case and that in fact the collective unconscious is cultural, which means acquired. Just as a young mountaineer of the Carpathians, under the physico-chemical conditions of his country, is likely to develop a myxedema, so a Negro like René Maran, who has lived in France and breathed and eaten the myths and prejudices of racist Europe, and assimilated the collective unconscious of that Europe, will be able, if he stands outside himself, to express only his hatred of the Negro.

I just realized that the reason we all hate Jeff and Annie's relationship as romantic isn't because of the massive age gap (although that does add to it), it's because it feels like incest. In the beginning of season 1 they took a more brother-sister route, to change it so SUDDENLY just feels so GROSS. Dan Harmon was right about one thing and it is that their relationship is definitely Freudian (he must have been on mountains of cocaine when he changed them)

fans who are like "ah yes its so natural sebastian, the demon, would use any tactic to manipulate his contractee, ciel, so its only natural he would seduce him 😏" sound so stupid to me because??
we know ciel is sex repulsed, uncomfortable discussing sexual things, and is traumatized by it and sebastian got a front row seat to all that??? so wouldnt sebastian know first hand, that is not the approach to put ciels guard down??
hell, he even states couple times ciel isn't "ready yet" or "doesn't understand" sexual interests and desires:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(about the green house boys being distracted by lau's girls)
and yes sebastain is a natural flirt! he's used to seducing and charming people (and half the time i think hes just doing it for the attention). but... imagine how unimpressive that is to preteen boy??? like, imagine describing a ~dark romance~ male lead from a YA book to your little brother, bro he is embarrassed by you. and that's the whole point, ciel finds sebastian embarrassing! most of the time, he thinks sebastian looks ridiculous when he impresses people!
and honestly?? what would be the best way to approach ciel is a parental approach. what's severally lacking in his life is a guardian figure that'll protect from all harm. that's what sebastian is fulfilling rn. that's whats working in the narrative!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ciel puts his guard down when he acts like a child. and he did put his guard down enough that he gets surprised by it later!
Tumblr media
(even more ironically, in ciels most vulnerable, honest state of mind, he does not want sebastian or any adult to put their hands on him. yet you talk about seducing, bro in what world???)

Dream A Little Dream Of Me...After Midnight.
Encountered a Virginia-Patty/Henry jumpscare this morning thanks to tikt0k knowing exactly what I'm sensitive about (a video had Walkin' After Midnight in it).
“Dream A Little Dream of Me” vs “Walkin’ After Midnight”:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(AKA the song Patty sings going into the Vegas dream sequence with Henry vs the song that plays over Virginia waiting up in the attic for Henry/the “Are you jealous?” scene)
No way did they choose two songs that quite literally have the same lyrics remixed…only to have Virginia and Patty say the only two “I Love You”s in the entire show, both directed at Henry and both followed up by them running away from Henry mid-fit:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All other Patty-Virginia parallels aside...this is the one that does it for me.
Your holiness, please prepare a nice grave for h3ntty...because this ship is BONES.

ah yes, a self identified experience relating to the self or selves and how one sees their internal monologue/dialogue and/or dissociation is totally comparable to ableists fearmongering about a government poisoning people and giving people *Autism (said in a scary bad tone)*. this is totally how things work.
(/sarcasm)
(also, endogenics just want to be themselves, whereas antivaxxers often suggest to ppl medical "advice" that will get them killed, they are not the same)
This!
But... I do actually want so offer a small defense of certain antivaxxers. Because I think you can break them into two groups. One are just conspiracy people who are just looking for conspiracies everywhere and want to find things to blame the government or illuminati or whatever for...
But another are parents who see their child develop a mental disorder, see how that affects their child's life, and are upset and looking for something to blame.
And in the past... the people they were expected to blame... were themselves.
As always, Freud breaks everything he touches. If you look back to the time before the hoax that vaccines caused autism, the popular theory thanks to Freud was that autism was caused by "refrigerator moms." If your child develops autism, then it must be because you're a bad mother and did something wrong.
So when someone pops up claiming autism is caused by vaccines, it gives all the women who were told that they caused their child's autism another explanation.
The theory is wrong, completely debunked and incredibly harmful.
But I guess... I do feel a measure of sympathy for mothers who were victims of sexism, made to feel responsible for their child developing a mental illness that was outside of anyone's hands, and later jumped to the first explanation they found that didn't involve blaming the parents.
And I can't help but feel that this monster was created by a long history of sexism in psychiatry. That if psychiatrists hadn't pushed for so long that autism was caused by the mothers, the mothers wouldn't have been so susceptible to this type of manipulation and the antivax movement wouldn't have become what it did today.
A lot of harmful ideologies don't exist in a vacuum, and I don't want to forget the environment that allowed this particular one to fester and grow into what it is today.

It's 7 PM and that's everyone else's problem - Crane and the psychiatric industry.
He's not one of those "medication helps no one" types; but clearly it's not helped him, and he has limited money to try everything there is in the world. Were he white or cis, he'd probably have been institutionalized, and he's honestly not sure if that's better or worse than outright leaving him to die like America's healthcare industry usually does with its minorities. He is, however, a "therapists help no one and are often biased" type. All they ever do is give generic platitudes and say what you want to hear if you even know what you want to hear, they don't consider class/racial differences easily, and most of them are women who are only in the industry for often the exact same reason the mean girl -> nurse pipeline exists. None of them ever provide you with actual skills to cope either, just say "that's in the past now, get over it" or try to redirect the conversation to something else. In that respect alone, he was a decent psychologist when he wanted to be; he takes a very no bullshit approach to the psych field, and makes it very clear that the purpose of his existence is to find the root of an issue, not coddle. He is also not a fan of teens/children doing self-diagnosis without research, for understandable used to be a medical professional reasons. Children's brains aren't finished developing. He will acknowledge that the medical professionals of today are typically just pill pushers, though, as he's known several and hated their guts for being too lazy to properly diagnose issues. + do not get him started on the issue of "being diagnosed with autism means that autism explains all your problems and also you are a child", he's openly autistic himself.

The more I get into psychology the more it seems a lot of theories are built upon pseduologic and made by horrible people. And lot of diagnosis criteria seem rather abstract and subjective. Like what’s flamboyant? What’s deviant?  What’s extreme? Too many times things are viewed through a traditionalist, capitalistic, Western lens. I
