Angel sputters as Husk’s wing hits him in the face. He’s had way too much to drink, that’s for sure. He pouts, leveling Husk with a sad stare.

“But Huuusk, I wanna touch your earssss! I’ll be gentle this time— promise!”

He sounds more like a child than anything now. God, he’ll hate himself in the morning.

Husk is sitting at the bar, downing yet another shot of whatever the fuck he poured moments ago as he felt the brush of another against his back. "You know if you want to get me in bed, all you have to do is ask." He said, slurring his words, placing his shot glass on the table. "Once in a lifetime offer."

"Once in a lifetime, huh?"

Comes the purr against his ear, a single set of arms curling around his waist to pull him to his feet. He had been headed to bed, an armful of snacks hoarded against his chest when he had seen Husker sitting there. At first the brushing against his back was a tease but then came those slurred words and he knew he couldn't just leave him there on his own.

"I have asked, y'know." He continues, distracting the drunken demon as best he could while scooping him right up. Now he's hoarded against him with the snacks. "Can't count the times ya shot me down.. Now here you are.. Offerin' me the world." Husk weights nothing, easy to cart upstairs and to Angel's own room. "Fat nuggets, we have a guest. Make room."

Keeper -- a short comic about an angel meeting a robotic lighthouse keeper that doesn't know the world has already ended. Made in about 18 hours for a 24-hour 24-page* black and white comic challenge (that I arrived late to, ha.)

*the actual submission does not include the cover, which was created after the fact for this post.

This was a really great learning experience as someone who's... never really made a completed comic. I ended up really attached to the story by the end of the project (possibly due to all-nighter deliriousness lol) and ultimately am very proud of what I made.There are some things I'd still like to change, particularly text placement, but in keeping with the spirit of the challenge I've elected to leave it as is.
