keeping a diary is so much FUN and helpful not only for my mental health but for overall GIRLINESS. as someone who's been keeping a diary consistently for two years now, i'll be giving some diary resources and tips on how to get started and maintain a diary.

WHY ITS FUN TO HAVE A DIARY ;

i love to read past entries bcuz first, im rly rly funny and its fun to go back and read what i was writing about at that time and just reminisce on points in my life. it makes for great entertainment and it showcases growth that i've made and the way that my character changed or grew.

its been a game-changer for my mental health bcuz i have a little outlet where i can be completely transparent and just yap endlessly with no one to stop me or invade on my privacy.

TOOLS FOR A PHYSICAL DIARY ;

fluffy pink and purple pens

yummy scented glitter pens

past-able things (examples include ; cut outs from magazines, photos that you've taken and printed, stickers, memo sheets)

some print able and past able resources ;

decoration for the actual diary like glitter, stickers, ribbons, and frills.

for the actual diary , look for diaries that are pretty (for example, fluffy diaries)

a good writing tool (FOR MY DIARY, I USE NOTION)

cute headers + photos to insert into my diary, i find all of my photos on pinterest.

digital diaries are easily a lot less work then physical diaries which is why i keep a digital diary but keeping a physical diary is SO much fun too.

THE ACTUAL WRITING PART ;

everyone will write in their diaries in a different way based on whatever feels the most natural, but for me i start off my entries with "dear diary" and then write in the journal as though i was writing to a friend so its super comfy and relaxed.

i actually have a couple of writing outlets, so i have a journal and i have a diary. my diary is mostly for my day-to-day life. its updated 2x a week (tuesdays and thursdays) in my journal, thats less about my day to day and just random things i wanna write about.

SO. so. I was feeling some type of way about the good omens s2 finale and this fic. oh man. it did such a good job both filling the hole and in my heart, AND, ON TOP OF THAT, added such wonderful lore, with some of the best characterisations that I have enjoyed reading in the fandom. It was wonderful, and I honestly don't feel like I need anything else.

as for the design, I had some fun using space imagery for basically everything. honestly I just had lots of fun doing space things regardless. I tried my hand using gutermann thread for the first time for my endbands and dear god did that take ages. I also attempted to use my foil quill and haha. that did NOT go well. at all. regardless, it's such a beautiful fic that I really really wanted to make a beautiful book for it. if you haven't read it, please do!

If you haven't done so already, I would love to hear you elaborate on You're Crashing and how it relates to the Fred Hampton Jr trial? My knowledge of him and the trial starts with your header text and google isn't exactly forthcoming on the climate of public opinion at the time it was actually happening. Also I just want to hear your thoughts since I heard it from you first, if that's ok

no problem. take what i say with a grain of salt, as im not american, so this isnt my history directly. additionally, this was before my time.

after the beating of rodney king at the hands of police, and the acquital of 3 of the 4 officers responsible, there were riots. the 1992 los angeles riots to be precise. these riots sprang up amid a backdrop of tension between black american and korean communities, and during these riots, a korean menswear store was firebombed. fred hampton jr, son of civil rights activist and martyr fred hampton, was found guilty for this, with the main piece of evidence i believe being that there were blisters on his hands. he and his supporters maintain his innocence for this event. many people, particularly black political activists, believe that his guilty verdict was mostly because he continued his fathers legacy in fighting for racial justice in america.

it is a known fact explicitly stated by the band that youre crashing but youre no wave is inspired by this trial (this is pre release, so the song names are different). this is demonstrated through the narrative told by the lyrics. the story ended before it began. the DA didnt need to give his closing argument, because the jury already believed it from the narrative spun on the news. 'everyones looking for relief/a bidding war for an old flame's grief' the old flame in this case being his father, from whom he picked up the torch. you could pay to close the case like a casket, because whats inside it is messy, and no one wants to see the dirty guts of the truth. the jury is stacked. the witnesses are well paid (too well dressed for the witness stand). the song heavily, heavily implies over and over, that this is not a fair trial, and that there is a foregone conclusion.

i feel as though its easy to argue this song is out of place, but personally, while its VERY on the nose and not really all that subtle (and i like that about it, dont get it twisted), i think it fits into the theme. i mentioned a while back that 'be clearly aware of the stars and infinity on high. then life seems most enchanted after all' refers, in the context of its association with this album, to the stars in hollywood. ioh is about media narratives first and foremost. its about fame, and celebrity, and painting a perfect picture, one that sells well. its all about the artifice ('style your wake for fashion magazines' 'i only think in the form of crunching numbers in hotel room collectong Page Six lovers' '"we need umbrellas on the inside" get me just right.') and in this case, it shifts its focus from media and celebrity into media and politics. which i find really really interesting.

For the second time, @xxsycamore and I are bringing to you a week-long exploration of the trope Alternative Universe! (link to last year’s challenge here)

→ GENERAL RULES

Works of all forms are welcome! Fanarts, fanfics, headcanons, etc.

Limited to otome fandoms - mobile otome games such as: IkeSeries (Ikemen Vampire, Ikemen Prince, Ikemen Villains, Ikemen Sengoku, Ikemen Revolution, Ikemen Genjiden); Tears of Themis; Obey me!; Mr Love: Queen’s Choice; Light and Night; Voltage games; Mystic Messenger and others, as well as console otomes.

This challenge takes place between June 19th and June 25th, 2023. The deadline for posting your works is July 15th (until midnight, UTC+2).

Instead of making the masterlist after the deadline, @xxsycamore who is in charge of it will try to create the post in advance and update it regularly during the challenge. Good evening folks I'm sleep deprived again and you know what that means! Deranged headcanons this time with almost everyone and not just Alastor, reader pops in and out, I lost my hazbin header and I don't feel like going to redownload it rn so I'll edit this tomorrow to add it in, probably, someone remind me.

I can't remember Sir Pentious being around stairs, did we see him go upstairs in the show?? Do the egg Bois carry him? Did he evolve and master the art of snake crawling up the stairs??

You think when he first died he kept faceplanting himself, like stairs were this dork's [affectionate] number one enemy, one wrong move and WAM, BAM, BOOOM Sir Pentious is injured, ouchy

Hear me out on the reader just picking him up bridal style to go upstairs, like the reader doesn't look that strong and then sir Pentious is struggling with stairs so they just 'YOINK'

Okay so Charlie scrapbooks right? Pretty sure that's canon or it's just become fanon enough that I can't remember the difference,

You and Charlie scrapbooking together, like just bonding, pop on some type of movie on the tv, make popcorn and other snacks and get a ton of crafting stuff for scrapbooking.

Hey all!

Apologies for the late update! I attended an overnight charity cause which left me without the ability to post for a prolonged period. I still did remote work and the team made quite a bit progress! But please forgive the delay!

First off on the agenda, to address the criticisms surrounding the previous update: we hear you!

From what our team gathered, the largest feedback we received was:

I want my ranges to be larger

I want my ranges to be smaller

To sum up, while we received positives on the idea of color sorting for ranges, we received pushback on the limiting of ranges to only a few hues at a time at any given time.

Our solution is to broaden the amount of color you can mix. The results allow for a similar amount of curation and variation as the wheel, but with our added intent of more intuitive color mixing.

Originally, we called this system paint mixing system, where we intended for hues to mix as you would expect paint to. I.e, you breed a red and green cat to get brown, or a blue and red cat to get purple.

This was limiting, we understand. So. we've moved over to light mixing. Same concept, same hue/saturation/lightness rules, but now the rules of the color mixing follow that of the light spectrum as opposed to paint.

Above is a handy chart for hue mixing. If you breed two cats of different hues, you can get a range of outcomes depending on the two hues.

Red and blue move through pink and purple, so breeding a red and a blue cat equals pink, purple, red, or blue kits!

The best news? With this system, taking into account the hue/saturation/lightness factors, users can selectively breed for up to 118 colors on the current 221 list. Previously, only 110 were available with the wheel system.

We hear the feedback that certain colors may be rarer than others due to hue number variation, and we're taking this into account as well with an effort to even the categories.

Lastly, we're experimenting with higher percent chances to pass down a color if both parents meet certain parameters. Example: If both parents have Rose overcoat, we're experimenting with a higher percentage to pass down Rose overcoat, and what that percentage may be.

Getting a breeding demo out is very high priority! That's really our next step! We're focusing on illustrating base patterns for the starter breeds, and letting loose a breeding and creator demo before updating it with more breeds and patterns as we get closer to launch. Luckily, we've heavily streamlined this process and have a working creator ready for assets!

Sometime back, we updated the mars Prancer to better utilize the space. We wanted to keep the integrity of the pose, but learned the way in which the old art became squashed very easily.

Functionality Update: User Profile and Dens

We finished onboarding! Logged in users can now do the following, tested multiple times:

Select Borough

Create, name, and select attributes for Founder cats

Create the first den and name the user's camp

And with the new stuff, we tackled more complicated logic. Users can now:

Create, title, delete, and edit dens to store cats

Toggle to view all cats within all dens

Search for cat names

Organize cat positions and move cats from one den to another

And!

Edit the User Profile by adding widgets

Edit HTML/CSS boxes on the user profile

Organize, add, remove, and save widgets and their contents

Certain margin placements are a work in progress as we build out! It may look a bit rudimentary when lacking the CSS, but the meat of functionality is there!

Frontend designs for the majority of the functions for the cat profile, inventory, item cards, and breeding are completed, making up a huge swath of the game!

To Summarize: We shared an updated modification to the breeding algorithm, the Prancer mars, new Fauna, backdrops, and functionality in the works

What to expect next month: Further asset illustrations, frontend breeding functionality, potentially frontend staging for the cat profile

And expect the creator + breeding demo to be our next big drop!
