today is the 3 year anniversary of breonna taylors murder at the hands of police. as a reminder, she was killed in a no knock swat raid. the warrant for this raid was provided under false pretenses, as the police officers lied about the suspect of their investigation having packages delivered to her house. none of the officers have been charged.

fall out boy is so fascinating because anyone who doesnt know anything about fall out boy thinks theyre only relevant to millenials who had intense emo phases while anyone who is a huge fall out boy fan is aware of the fact that every single album they release has gotten them a wave of new young fans. and actually thats not even true because every album second album cycle the fans from the one before the last one are like what do you mean you became a fan during the last album cycle i didnt think anyone was still onboarding. and this is going to go on forever until they retire probably.

anyway. headfirst slide is the better song but tiffany blews has the better bridge. headfirst slides bridge is literally just a reprise while tiffany blews is a dynamic change with a different soundscape entirely from the rest of the song THAT IS EMPHASIZED by lil waynes inhuman vocals which put together create a fish out of water tone, and that coupled with the lyrics (not the boy i was/the boy i am is just venting./dear Gravity, you held me down in this starless city) makes it a fantastic bridge. vocal performance isnt everything to songwriting.

i like punk music and when i dont listen to fob or paramore i listen to almost exclusively black punk and occasionally metalcore but i really and truly think some of you are fucking alt poisoned like you have got to listen to r&b and hiphop and even the dreaded pop music so you can figure out what other genres are supposed to sound like and broaden your horizons and not be spooked like a stupid cat seeing its reflection when a band incorporates a non alternative genre into their sound. please.

happy emancipation day! today we in the english caribbean celebrate the end of slavery, and later apprenticeship (which was slavery by another name). plantation owners and their families were compensated for the loss of their slaves, and the last payments to those families were made in 2015. that same year during a visit to jamaica then prime minister of england david cameron urged the country to move on from slavery and ruled out reparations. to the uk, to europe more broadly, give us our fucking money back.
