Dragon Ball Super 092
Tumblr media
Tonight’s episode: Buu’s fucking passed out.
Tumblr media
But first, an important update on Universe 11′s General Kharseral.  Did he save that cat from earlier? Yes, he did.  Now the Pride Troopers can assemble for the tournament.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, in Universe 3, we get a peek at some of the fighters on their team, but so what?  We’ll see them in action when the tournament starts.  This is what I mean when I complain about the 3rd quarter of Dragon Ball Super.  Episodes 68-96 are just marking time, hyping up the Tournament of Power without actually giving us the Tournament of Power.  And some of these episodes have been good, sure, but a lot of the material is redundant.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, back in U7, Master Roshi believes that he has de-hornified himself.  That’s Puar over there, by the way.  I pity him.
Tumblr media
All right, let’s talk about Caulifla going Super Saiyan.  In Universe 6, Cabba demonstrates the transformation for her, but he isn’t sure how to teach it, so he tries calling her names in an attempt to make her angry, the way Vegeta did.  The problem is that the U6 Saiyans are way too polite for that, and Cabba sucks at even pretending to be rude.  So Caulifla asks him what he does to transform, since it’s not like he’s pissed off every time he does it, and Cabba explains that he tenses up his back to concentrate power there.  Caulifla does the same et voilà.
Tumblr media
A lot of fans (and I use the term loosely) complained about this episode for cheapening the Super Saiyan transformation.  They objected to a newbie like Caulifla being able to do it so easily, and without “earning” the moment through a long, arduous character arc like Goku or Gohan.  I’ve made my thoughts known in the past, but let me be clear:
1) Fuck all haters.
2) Caulifla is an antagonist, not a protagonist.  She’s not a bad guy, but she is one of the fighters Goku’s team has to beat in order to survive.  The idea here is that the Saiyans of Universe 6 are making incredible gains in a very short span of time, which means they could become a serious threat to U7′s chances.
3) Fuck all haters.
Tumblr media
So now that Caulifla has the general hang of it, she calls out Kale, another Saiyan who’s part of her gang.  Cabba didn’t know Kale had followed them, but Caulifla knew she was lurking around somewhere.  The dub has Caulifla refer to Kale as her “sister-in-arms”, which is sort of like being “cousins” in Sailor Moon.
Anyway, Caulifla wants Kale to learn this transformation too, which I’m sure won’t lead to any trouble later...
Tumblr media
Back to Universe 7, and Goku cannot get Buu to wake up.  I’m pleased with how they explain Buu’s sleeping in this episode, because back in DBZ, Majin Buu took a nap and he woke up two seconds later.  But Mr. Satan says that sometimes Buu will sack out for two months, and nothing can wake him.    Well, we’ve seen some middle ground, though.  He slept through the Destroyer Tournament, but woke up by the time it was over.  And he fell asleep at the Zeno Explo, but Mr. Satan was able to wake him then.  So yeah, I’m not sure how it works, but at least they acknowledged that Buu used to sleep for two seconds.
Anyway, Goku returns to announce that Buu’s off the team, but everyone’s mad at him because they all found out that there’s no prize money and their universe gets erased if they lose.  Krillin tries to pull out of the event...
Tumblr media
... until Beerus threatens to destroy him unless he fights. See, this is what I’m talking about.  These pre-Tournament of Power episodes try to squeeze as much drama as they can out of the whole erasing of universes thing, but it all amounts to nothing.  Gohan was horrified when he found out, and warned Goku not to tell anyone else, but everyone found out anyway.  Then they got all mad at Goku for not telling them, but what difference does it make?  They still have to go.  Forget Beerus’ ultimatum, if Krillin sits this one out and they lose, then he still gets erased.
The same goes for all the gods wringing their hands over the whole thing.  At least the mortal characters can do something about it, but the gods are helpless, so all of their scenes are a waste of time.  And the mortals’ scenes are kind of pointless too, because their agency really only comes into play when the event starts.  Until then, they’re just waiting anxiously.
Tumblr media
Okay, so they still have nine fighters, but what about the tenth?  Beerus whines about how Earth is the only planet in this universe with any competent warriors, and he blames Goku and the others for wiping out all the other warriors like the Frieza Force, and that gives Goku an idea: Recruit Frieza.
Tumblr media
Yeah, no one likes that idea very much.

I’m reading your Sakura stuff and it hits everything that I have thought about her from the beginning. Which is why her character ending up with Sasuke and Boruto series and all of that just doesn’t make any sense to me. And the sad part is for like a very short period in the manga I didn’t dislike her as much and then I was reminded again that she was just this self-absorbed person that had not progressed the way the other characters had. And every iteration with Sasuke she makes everything about herself and it’s so grating. I think the part that I hate the most about her character is the fact that she could have changed and matured and grown up but she never did as a choice. Even in Boruto. she still the same character that she’s always been she’s just older and feels like more of a damsel. Of course i view Boruto as just a manga thrown out there to sell out and make money just because the whole heroes from the original story having children that surpassed them somehow was popular at the time to make. Because you didn’t bleach do that? Or are they doing that too? It’s just sad that her character has not progressed and has only gotten more annoying the further the story continues. And I know they tried to explain her and Sasuke getting together with that one gai den but it just seemed like bad fanfiction.
You were totally right in your feels anon.
No matter what her stans say about her, it's just a fact that she is a very distasteful character, she was written that way. That she is annoying and unlikeable is just a fact. You are simply reacting to the way she was written by Kishi, Kishi wanted you to dislike her. Heh.
You can be less than moral or be amoral but still be likeable. Like Deidara. Or Hidan. Or even Suigetsu. You can even be evil and still be likeable, like Oro. A lot of villains are written that way. You can be an antagonist and still be likeable. But Sakura is just none of them and is just unlikeable. I absolutely agree with the part where you said that she could have changed and matured but she chose not to. Yep. She could have done many things differently, she could have stopped harassing Sasuke or abusing Naruto or insulting Ino but she couldn't help herself.
Gaiden is certainly a little convoluted but it actually makes a lot of sense, Kishi wrote it after all. It was his slap in the face to SS and NH ships. Lol. But really, it was his way to tell the audience that no matter what the ending, the real pairing is still SNS. But well, the circumstances forced them to acquiesce to this world, where nothing had really changed. Madara was kinda right, no? Heh. Kishi wrote a very realistic world and things don't always have a happy ending in real life. Just like how Naruto series was given a sequel in Boruto. Real life sucks sometimes. Heh.
I have explained Gaiden, here and here.
Yeah, I have heard that Bleach also ended up in a similar way. But I wouldn't know.

182 Days of TPN - Day 66
Chapter 66: “The Forbidden Game, Part 1”
Ooohoho boy, here they come. Their designs are a hundred times better than any wild, enemy demon shown in season two.
Tumblr media
Did Emma’s possession of the pen not already make it clear that she was unlike the other kids? Or the fact that she was dropped off here alone? And I know it’s not visible most of the time with the shelter jacket & turtleneck, but surely catching a glimpse of Emma’s ID on her neck would help prove she’s not one of the usual Grand Valley kids.
Tumblr media
Normal people would usually run in the opposite direction if they heard a scream. Clearly, our girl doesn’t fall into that category and I mean that in the most sincere way possible.
Tumblr media
These poor Grand Valley kids getting quite a rude awaken to what kind of world they’re living in by being hunted by demons. It’s like getting shipped straight to your death from Grace Field almost seems less troublesome than fighting for your life every three days for years on end.
Tumblr media
It’s not gonna be the last time we hear prey get a ten second head start. But yeah, I must really be blind if I’m only noticing now that Luce has four arms. I wanna say I must’ve noticed it sometime before and perhaps I just forgot, but I really dunno.
Tumblr media
I did question why the face of one of Luce’s assistants was all messed up in other panels, but it seems I got my answer as it was Monica who managed to cause some damage. Now that’s something I have no memory of. Good for her!
Tumblr media
When you’re so boring that the most dangerous poacher actually ends up letting you go instead. Quite some luck you have there, Johnny. (unfortunately it doesn’t last the whole story.)
Tumblr media
Aahha, she is so quick to act! Kinda impressive how no one even realized she was running towards them until this moment either.
Tumblr media
This! Literally all of this is fantastic! The damn accuracy she has even during a spur of the moment decision and how she would’ve definitely killed Luce if Leuvis didn’t step in to catch the axe with this skinny, chopstick-looking fingers. (S2 denied us of many things but at least we got this stunning animatic from Note to swoon over.)
Tumblr media
Her mind is going a mile a minute and she still manages to look to the bright side of things despite the very dangerous situation she got thrown into.
Tumblr media
He’s a complete psycho, but I’ll be damned, he does make for a real threatening antagonist (not the best in my mind, of course, but still way up there, like second). I actually had him in my top ten once upon a time, but switched him out with Oliver last minute.
Tumblr media
Favorite panel/moment:
I can’t remember exactly who on here said way back whenever how these panels show more character development for Emma than all of season two, but YES. Absolutely true!

despite me having a 60 slide presentation that is 9k words titled “morgana pendragon did nothing wrong”, I do in fact! think she has done bad things. the main gripe I have with everything is how genuinely shitty her development is, like this point has been hammered in a million times atp and I’m probably not adding anything new to the convo but let me rant, one day I’ll write a polished explanation or whatever but I’m just annoyed + me explaining why she’s not a good person :3 + my thoughts
I think morgana is a wonderfully established character, she’s someone who was willing to stand up for what she believed in and actively call out uther’s actions; as well as being willing to cross morally questionable lines to achieve what she genuinely thought was for the best. she was complex and honestly so interesting in the earlier seasons, we saw her struggles and genuinely empathized with her desire of acceptance and the fear of persecution. Also girlie had nightmares constantly like I can only imagine how tiring that shit is. but then s3 happened and her development took a complete nose dive! like I understand why she did what she did in s2e12, I think it’s a fine episode but I do wish they established the morgana + morgause relations better than they did in canon, like if you’re going to make a character do a complete 180, at least show the time period between that? because morgana was so clearly shaken but what she had done in s2e12, she had shut down basically and was struggling to cope with what she had done through the entire episode. Like I’m sure you could fill in the gaps but it’s just poor writing, show, don’t just imply that morgause became this figure in morgana’s life that she held up with such reverence and how she basically absorbed her values to just become this hollow antagonist that just has silly little schemes every episode in s3. like we already established how she had a desire for acceptance we should’ve show morgause grow into that. Also the fact that she brings up the poisoning like one time??? and never had any heart to heart with Merlin? Like I get that she was too unwilling to compromise on her values (and she’s ne polr-) but it’s far too quick of a shift in her character. She went from feeling immense guilt of her actions to smugly wanting Camelot to fall, like at least show some ambivalence or some kind of self doubt if you’re going to make her turn to evil off screen??? I’ll probably always be upset that they removed that scene in s3e13 where morgana was like “I felt like a monster (bc of my magic) and morgause was the only one there for me”, like that simple line, while implied w/o that scene, just has a lot of depth to her and explains it explicitly (also I feel like that would be the last thing to break uther so yeah I wish they didn’t delete that one). circling back, but I actually really love s3e05 (it’s one of my faves) because it just expands so much on how much she genuinely wants to be loved and how volatile morgana has become to rejection; like she is genuinely so desperate. I think from then on, morgana sorta imprints the idea of being “uther’s daughter”, thus trying to fit herself into that role (but that is very much a headcanon). From s3+ her mission is just “I want to kill Arthur (and emyrs) so I can be queen because I deserve it” but it’s totally about her bringing magic back! I think she comes to see Arthur as nothing more than an extension of uther (something that she does call him out her in earlier seasons) but I also believe that there is envy there! because he recognizes him as her son ofc but denies morgana of that, so she seeks to destroy what she cannot have (sx4???). of course her whole pursuit of emyrs which is just born of self-preservation. I actually appreciate s4 morgana bc of the fact that she’s is more vulnerable than in s3, like she’s just a lonely fool in the woods w/o any real friends bc she’s lost them all. and she contemplates sometimes. silly. also I like that we got a slight taste of distressed morgana who always sought out reassurance in s4e13, like girlie needs someone to tell her that’s everything will be okay and that is why morgwen is the best ship ever + why she is so emotionally volatile bc she is w/o that
Although I do wish they focused on her skill of social engagement, like she had so many ally ships and a clear ability to read and manipulate emotions, but whatever ig. It’s sad to see how much her world has really changed and her world view being so messed up and so black and white (like she also was pretty polarized in the earlier seasons but like those values she held made more moral sense + she felt guilt) also I think it’s important to bring up how her talking to emyrs in s4e06 being like “Arthur will never accept you, magic will only come back once I rule” as a play to distract him. also it’s genuinely so fucked up that she was locked in the bottom of a well for 2 years w/o light or movement like??? That is genuinely such a messed up thing I don’t think the show or fandom talks about enough. It’s literally a complete loss of her agency and freedom which I do believe is something that morgana values a lot, to always do some kind of action, she’s never been a stagnant character and to just. be stuck powerless and immobile for 2 years with the one creature that you’ve bonded with and loved and saw as you’re only campaign, like aithsa saved morgana; just suffer in such a painful and cruel way? LIKE WHY DO WE NOT TALK ABT IT MORE??
I guess I’ll talk abt s5 right now lol or just read my slideshow rant abt one of my gripes lol but yeah the writing takes another nosedive in s5, morgana just becomes really more one dimensional, although I’m glad that they at least addressed her and Gwen’s relationship, albeit in a very messed up way. But yeah her desperation for Gwen finally got the best of her and I truly believe that was the main purpose and not just her being used as a tool for assassinating Arthur. One think they should’ve done more was Morgana’s descent into madness and delusion, like she’s actually unhinged by the final few episodes and ofc that was caused by mordred’s death but I do wish that was just a theme in her character. I suppose it could parallel how uther shut down into numbness but morgana just became increasingly more volatile (it is 2am I am def grasping for straws). One day I write a proper uther and morgana parallels rant. Anyways her death scene is nice ig, she never did get the satisfaction of seeing Arthur die. anyways her entire character from s3+ is the sunk cost fallacy, she’s in too deep and she could never pull out. I haven’t watched bojack but I would’ve loved if they made her like Diane in how she feels like she needs to write her book to make her trauma productive in some way (“if I don’t then that means that all the damage I got isn’t good damage it’s just damage and all those years I was miserable I could’ve been happy this whole time. blah blah “what was it all for?”, from memory so if there’s a mistake that is why). She needs to take out all her years of hurt and rejection and someway by embodying that and doing it to everyone in her life ((for that reason)unconsciously) but I mean it’s not like they really imply that in canon, I’m probably reading too much into it. But yeah she’s selfish and hypocritical. At least she continued in being way too overbearing in her personal judgments (MY ESI WIFE (REAL))

I watched Mitchells vs The Machines last Friday and it was… fine I guess? Don’t know how old this movie is but I guess I will use a cut just in case. Here are some more movie hot takes, I guess!
I feel like the movie wanted me to feel bad for Boomer Dad at the end of the movie but tbh I didn’t. Like the guy can barely feign interest in his kid’s art that he just has to sit and watch! I know they try and explain it like “oh he’s not good with technology” but like, most of the time, she’s loading it up for him! And the poor mom is trying to be like “hey don’t be an asshole” when Katie shows the family her latest project but he still can’t help himself and continues to be like “but what if you fail” and “I don’t get it”. Like yeah, I don’t blame Katie for wanting to get away and go to college as soon as possible. Like this girl has to deal with constant artistic rejection from her dad but he hears her say one mean thing that gets recorded and shown to him by the bad guy during a high stakes scene and it’s like “oh no how devastating” and I’m just like, “get it together dad! This is no time to nurse your ego! Also you kind of deserve it ngl”.
Also like if my dad cancelled my flight to college and pulled me out of orientation week, I too would be very pissed and uncharitable towards him. I made a good number of my university friends during that week and if the robot apocalypse hadn’t happened, she would probably have missed out on a good bonding experience with her fellow classmates. Is it the end of the world? No, but still incredibly shitty. Also I fully cringed when I heard the phrase “your eyes are nature’s camera”… this was something I’ve actually heard before, so uh, thanks for that bit I guess.
There were also a bunch of obvious quips about social media and tech, like “who would have thought that big tech companies wouldn’t have our best interests at heart” and other similar things from various characters in the movie. It felt like it wanted to make some sort of statement about tech, and while I don’t disagree with the little quips, I honestly think it doesn’t work very well in the story. As someone who has worked at similar tech companies, the portrayal of the PAL CEO as this guy who was callous about how he treated the AI antagonist but ultimately good hearted is pretty laughable. Usually what happens is that a bunch of people voice their concerns about some feature or product, and then those concerns are ignored or put on some backlog to be *addressed later* (and then languishes in some poor employee’s list of backlog tasks) and the feature/product gets launched anyway. Unless it harms the money or ~metrics~, or has the potential to turn into a big news story (even then that might not be a deterrent), good luck getting it prioritized. So I don’t think the whole “ooops how was I supposed to know that this would happen” framing of the robot uprising was a little dumb.
I guess it is a kids movie so it’s not going to be that realistic but I think it would have served the main story better if they just didn’t try and make any grand statements about technology. While the main bad guy is literally an AI, the main emotional conflicts of the story are largely about bridging the generational divide between Katie and Boomer dad, and about PAL feeling exploited by the CEO (which can happen to people too, not just AI). They didn’t need to shoehorn in the “tech can be bad, but also good sometimes” stuff, like no shit! The only half-good moment about tech in this movie is when the dad is like “wow people actually are watching my daughters movies on YouTube” or whatever but even then, it’s not so much about the technology, but about the impact of Katie’s art on others.
I liked the brother. He gave me neurodivergent vibes, and I really liked his interactions with Katie. I’m not neurodivergent so I can’t really comment on whether it was good rep or not but he felt like a fully fleshed out character.
Katie has a girlfriend at the end of the movie, which is nice but only really comes up in like the last 5 minutes afaik unless I missed some other reference. One day I hope that there will be more lgbtq rep in kids movies that isn’t just like an “oh by the way…” . Maybe I should have paid more attention to the texting/video call scenes, maybe there were hints (or more obvious things) I missed.
The mom was one of my favourite characters (alongside the dog), truly just trying her best to mediate and support her family, while trying to kick Boomer Dad into giving more of a shit. That woman deserves a nice beach holiday somewhere where she can take a break from carrying this family on her back.

Who's the first AK that Mina befriends and why? Which AK is the last for Mina to warm up to, and why? And which AKs will she never be friends with?
The first is Chelsea. Mina is mildly impressed that she volunteered to room with a VK, after getting a wary reception from some other AKs. Chelsea confesses that she didn't get on with her previous roommate, so it didn’t seem like that a hard of a decision, and they talk about being disabled and bullied and left behind and arbitrary AK social norms and hey, Chelsea’s funny, and actually gets Mina’s sharp sense of humour, and with healthy plants and wildlife being so alien to her Mina is more than happy to hear all her swamp facts and holy shit, she can do magic, that’s badass and -
oh. They’re friends. Wow. It happens a lot more naturally than either of them anticipated. They’re very sweet together. I love them. They have sleepovers at each other’s houses in the school holidays, because even by the first one they’re so used to and comfortable sharing a bedroom. Chelsea loves playing with the Foxworth pets. She visits the shelter and helps Mina sometimes, and Mina visits New Orleans and the swamp to watch Chelsea learn magic.
I think she'd get along pretty well with most canon AKs. They’re all generally good people, except Chad and to an extent, mostly formerly Audrey. Chad’s always come across as worse to Audrey than me, so his character growth would be slower and more begrudging and he plays a minor antagonist to Mina and other VKs; he’s too afraid of his parents, Ben and Mal making him face more serious consequences for his actions than the discipline he’s already got to try anything really bad, though. He is fundamentally a coward whose bark is much worse than his bite. And everyone can see that. He’s too pathetic, unintelligent and uncreative to be an effective bully. A minority of other AKs who share his malice aren’t, however, and not all of them change their ways. There are many AKs that Mina just never clicks with or warms up to because that’s how people work, with no such malice or judgment necessary.
It takes her and Terry surprisingly long to become proper friends. That’s why even after the time skip, I haven’t described them as friends in their bios. The reason is that I specifically created him to be Mina’s foil. Their personalities and roles are as different as can be, and she has trust issues and he’s bad at compromise, among other traits and attitudes that, by design, rub each other the wrong way. They both regret how awkward this is for Chelsea and want to be friends. But they just don’t get each other. Resolving this impasse is the result of their character development, particularly Terry’s, who’s more invested in befriending Mina. It requires him to slow down, acknowledge his flaws, listen to and learn from someone else’s perspective and put effort into building something despite knowing that it won’t be perfect. Mina is isn’t perfect, and neither is he. Neither is their friendship. But it’s still good. Yeah. Still good.
The last AK Mina warms up to is Audrey. Audrey has spent the six months since the movie having a big arc of unlearning her prejudices and callous, competitive, selfish worldview, which has involved coming to be on good terms with Mal, glad and grateful that she makes her best friend happy, and quite a messy breakup with Chad due to her no longer respecting him being a dick or liking that he enables and encourages her being a bitch. He swings between being bitter and desperate for her to take him back. She’s just tired of him. By Cotillion, her family is fracturing too: Leah refuses to change her views on VK no matter how unpopular they get or how much the whole rest of her family disagrees with her, and Aurora finally demands that if she can’t be trusted to look after all her citizens, she has to abdicate the throne. Phillip backs her up. In Audrey’s mind, Leah is her beloved, doting grandmother who’s always been there for her (a little critical and controlling, maybe, but all in the name of helping Audrey be everything she needs to be, right? There’s totally no toxicity in that dynamic that she also needs to unpack now, right? Please?) But… though it breaks her heart, she agrees with her parents. Leah is not taking any of this well. So Audrey’s under a lot of stress at the moment. Mina observes this from the sidelines and realizes that Audrey is not a shallow prissy princess/popular girl stereotype, but a Person with Feelings. Feelings about relatable stuff like a family member being awful. Now that, a VK can’t help but sympathize with. They have their first really open and honest conversation after that when Mina steps in to offer the appreciated sentiment of ‘you’re not alone and you’ll get through this, keep going’ and the less appreciated promise to sic her dogs on her grandma if she wants. Then Audrey ends up turning to the Core Four and Uma’s crew for empathy and experienced help processing and healing from Leah’s years of emotional abuse and thus forges a much stronger bond with all of them. Leah is forced to give up the throne, don’t worry.
It actually takes Mina longer to officially forgive Mal than to enter Audrey’s good books. She really does hold a grudge!

I love how you write Dr Strange and how he's pretty in character actually, because of course some MCU's characters would be unimpressed by the stuff going on around them. He's actually really good and unintentionally funny because there's the fandom who just wants to love Wanda, heal her, and also protect Mantis forever, and then Stephen is like "keep. these two. AWAY from me. mkay?" *continues to bottle shit up DESPITE EVERYTHING THE ANCIENT ONE TOLD HIM*
{i am the caretaker of souls} Awww, thank you! ^_^ I agree, he is unintentionally funny. And then sometimes he tries to be funny and falls flat on his face, heh. But yeah, he is uncomfortable around the empaths. He likes Mantis, though, and he doesn’t wish her any harm. And Wanda... he didn’t really know very well before DSMoM but he thought she was basically a good person, and felt badly for her with everything she’d been through. But after DSMoM... she’s just the source of a whole slew of uncomfortable emotions for him. Guilt, sympathy, anger, fear, and also maybe seeing more of himself in her than he ever wanted to.
He’s not unsympathetic. He thinks she’s got a few very strong points to make and that she’s been let down by a lot of people. He also understands how compelling the Darkhold is... firsthand after he events of the movie, in fact. But his underlying fear of people like her with her type of abilities and his anger/guilt over what she did at Kamar-Taj and to America is causing him to overcompensate in order to not be too kind to her. What I mean is... he wants to stay mad and distant, rather than admit that she’s a victim as well as an antagonist. Because the latter is very complicated and messy and emotions are scary, so it’s easier to just be angry and say SHAME ON YOU WANDA and condemn her.
The problem is... if he finds her after DSMoM, he can’t stay mad. Not completely. Especially now that he’s felt how compelling the DH is, he fully understands. He doesn’t condone, but he understands. And that combined with Wanda’s emotions (my version of her actually has her wanting to die and being disappointed and sad when she doesn’t) leaves Stephen unable to do anything other than treat her like a patient who needs help rather than an evil magic user who needs to be disciplined. He’s been that low in his life too. More than once. He knows how it feels, and he knows what the feeling of being utterly alone is like too. So he comes in angry, but leaves wanting to give her the help he wished he’d been open too earlier in his life.
Knowing she destroyed the DH (except for whatever he’s got memorized heh) also helps because he truly believes that Wanda wouldn’t have done most (of not all) of everything she did if not for the DH amplifying immorality and obsession in her thoughts. So I think that also makes him more willing to work with her and help her to recover, more than wanting to just imprison or eliminate her.
*shrugs* That’s just what I’ve done with my versions of Stephen and Wanda in post-DSMoM threads. Everyone has their own interpretations of all this stuff, and that’s actually been really interesting to read. So many threads, Stranges, and Wandas right now all over this site and I’m here for them all. =)

Your post about Colin took the words right out of my mouth. It is wild to see so many people miss it. Honestly, I think part of the reason people shit on Colin and Polin is because their arcs are compromised of subtlety and complexities, especially right now as the subplot. we arent slapped in the face by their moments so they "lack chemistry" or are "pointless characters".
No the chemistry is there, their stories are there, you just have to look a little closer, think a little harder and a lot of viewers dont want to do that
Anon is referring to this post!
Yes thank you!! I remember especially in s1 their chemistry in scenes made me so giddy, like the scene in 101 when he saves her from Cressida and they dance ? Swoon worthy! And they have so many cute banter-y scenes! just because their banter is friendly and light instead of heavier and more antagonistic like Kanthony doesn’t mean they don’t have a great dynamic. Their chemistry isn’t fiery or super intense, it’s gentle and sweet! It’s a different dynamic, for a different couple! The same way Kanthony had more sexy, intense chemistry than simon and Daphne! Just because it’s different doesn’t mean it’s no good!!
And they have REAL conversations!!! Simon and Daphne barely had a single conversation of substance before they were married and by then it was too late. Kanthony (my beloveds) have a few conversations that alude to deeper understanding but the meat of it doesn’t happen on screen. But Polin? Polin spent this WHOLE SEASON having serious, deep conversations about purpose, about finding yourself, about passion and love, about being with people who love you, about protecting and treasuring the people in your life who matter. They are putting in WORK with the small moments they share. Considering how much people have been complaining that Kanthony didn’t have enough deep conversations, the fact that pretty much every conversation Polin had this season was one of substance about real, deep issues should be such a hit, but people just ignored it? I don’t understand.
And yeah!! Colin’s storyline is much more quiet! He’s a quieter character in the show than either of his brothers. Whether that’s different from the books or whatever, it’s still true. He was the first one who wanted to get married, he just hangs out with Penelope and his family, he comes home late from parties taking care of his drunk mom, he’s just a sweet guy who is just living his life. Just because he’s not loud and his storyline isn’t big or flashy doesn’t mean he doesn’t have an arc or character work that’s being done.
You’re 100% right tho. Like Penelope has made some enemies in the show, she’s done some shit that’s pretty terrible, and I’m sure that’s part of why people aren’t super excited for her season, but Polin is also just a much quieter love story than any of the others. It’s not angry sexy enemies to lovers, it’s not fake dating and duels, there’s no huge class divide or jail time to keep them apart. They are the story of two friends, of unrequited love that slowly, over a LONG time, becomes mutual. Their love story is a simple one, one where all of a sudden Colin realises that the best person for him has actually already been there all along. It’s not flashy, and it’s not “cinematic”, but it’s, IMO, the most realistic love story in the series. I think the lack of flash makes it less anticipated, but that doesn’t make it bad. Sometimes a quiet love story is what you need.

Dream smp actor au my beloved
First season
Dream is a very famous actor, his movies got recognition very quickly regardless of being a pretty new actor, the most popular out of all of his movies being “Manhunt” an action movie that has a lot of improv and fighting scenes
After his second movie of Manhunt he decided that along side with some of his close friends and co-workers to start a tv-show called the Dream smp
It took a really long while to get all the actors for the first season, a lot of planning and getting people to work on sets and props
Some of the actors Dream got to participate were his close friends Sapnap and George who were in the cast of his last movies “Manhunt”
Tommyinnit was a kid Dream found in a small community of actors called “Hypixel: Sky Block series” he went ahead and literally snatched him from that serie and added him as one of the main leads of the storyline of his serie
Tubbo was kind of a addition out of the blue, Tommy after joining the cast decided to take Tubbo with him, a fellow friend and co-worker in the Hypixel series. Dream didn’t had a problem with it after realizing that both kids were insanely talented
Wilbur was, in Dream’s words, the best addition to the cast he could had ever imagined, Wilbur had been in the past in several other popular shows like “SMP Live” and “SMP Earth”
Wilbur not only did an excellent work as an actor but also added so much into the story, helping Dream several times with the storyline and script, eventually becoming a co-writer of the script over all season one
Making the serie itself was hard, but getting everything together and editing was a whole lot of work
But the most difficult thing was actually acting, the thing was that the whole cast of the serie got along so well, that when it was the time to actually act, getting in character was kinda impossible
Even for Dream was difficult to get in character
The whole war declaration took at least five shots because Dream kept breaking character or Sapnap kept wheezing
Eret’s betrayal was one of the last scenes to be recorded because it was just really really hard for the cast to actually act hurt or not joke between lines
The Tommy vs Dream duel was so funny to the cast, even more when Tommy was done with makeup and he literally had an arrow inserted in his stomach
So many memes, so many
The L’manberg era was one of the most difficult to act and write, the cast being new and not used to the whole atmosphere
But when the election and pogtopia era hit in, it was much more easy for the actors to take everything much more serious
Jschlatt and Technoblade were added to the cast and it was insane for everyone, both actors being really close friends of Wilbur because of their old projects together (SMP Live, SMP Earth, etc)
The election arc was, described by the whole cast, as one of the best parts of the whole season
Quackity would pull this insane improvs moments between shots and everyone would just have to run with it, getting a lot of extra but very cool scenes
Tommy and Tubbo would just pull the strangest faces in shots whenever they knew that the camara focus wasn’t in them just to try to make each other laugh
Niki and Awesamdude would sneak food into the set all the time, bags of chips, coffee, chocolate, sometimes even cake
Wilbur, Schlatt and Quackity had this whole competition between them where they would literally live inside the set and whoever stayed the longest would win 100 dlls
The pogtopia era was more easy to record, but much harder to act
Wilbur had lots of trouble being actually mean to Tommy and overall acting as an antagonist
When recording sometimes he would just stop and ask Tommy if he was okay and make sure to let all of the cast know he didn’t meant what he was saying
Tubbo Schlatt and Quackity had overall a very good time recording, most of the time laughing after hard scenes and joking around
Not Schlatt and Techno collectively suffering cus they got at least three hours of makeup prep because of tusks and horns 😭✋
The pogtopia set was one of the hardest to archive, this one having legit stares and buttons on the walls
Tubbo and Wilbur fell down those stares at least five times, Techno almost convinced Dream to use a harness on set
Technoblade revealing the vault full of weapons and stuff for the revolution was such a difficult scene to make because everyone kept messing around with the cool props
Schlatts death was easy to act, as soon as he died he made a peace sign and screamed “I’m outta here!” And proceed to walk out of the set😐
Moving on, Philza’s addition to the last episode of the season was something most of the cast wasn’t aware of, most of the reactions (besides Philza and Wilbur) being completely genuine
Philza is known for his famous serie called Hardcore and a couple of appearances on others people’s series
The end of the season was something hard to do, people had to use harnesses and when explosions occurred they had to be literally thrown into the air getting a lot of genuine screams
Tommy was supposed to be the president of L’manberg but he decided to pass the power to Tubbo in a moment of improv, Dream and Wilbur liked that scene a whole lots
The cast made Wilbur a funeral party after the last shot, lot of people got drunk while Phil just took care of the minors and made sure they didn’t get in trouble <3
Second season
The second season was something that all the fandom awaited eagerly, wanting to see what had happened with L’manberg and the beloved characters, so Dream and Wilbur made sure to make everything perfect, everything connecting points on the story
Ranboo was one of the new additions, a new actor that worked on his own going from place to place, the well known place like Hypixel, Bedwars (Invited by Purpled) and in his own side of TikTok
Dream found out about him and decided to add him just on a go, he of course wasn’t ready for the big impact the boy would have in the story at all
Now, Ranboo is one in the suffering gang, every morning having to spend hours in makeup along side with Tubbo (horns) Wilbur (ghost) and Tommy (exile appearance)
By the way, Ranboo’s storyline was supposed to be separated from the whole L’manberg and Exile story, but Tommy and Tubbo liked him a lot so decided to add him on their storylines
Tommy was supposed to burn down George’s house alone, but the same day they were recording he asked Dream to add Ranboo. And Tubbo decided to make Ranboo his minutes man out of the blue with simple improv and Ranboo went along with it
Oh, talking about Exile
If the cast thought Pogtopia had been hard to act??? Wait for the Exile arc
Literal pain, for literally everyone involved
Tommy is a lil shit but it was legitimately difficult for Dream to be actually that villain and manipulate and ahg, pain
Tubbo and Tommy had so much trouble recording the whole fight scene at the wall, it took at least three days to get the shot right because Tommy and Tubbo couldn’t stop breaking character or laughing
Oh yeah, it was difficult to this kids to stay away from each other, they were so used to working together that it was legitimately difficult to not be together
Which caused for Tommy and Tubbo to sneak into eachother sets and try to chat and just vibe together which would end up with Ranboo dragging Tommy away from Tubbos set and Quackity doing as well with Tubbo
New L’manberg was nice to record, Tubbo tells when he is asked about it, it was a really nice change for the dynamics, including Ranboo and Fundy more, tho he missed Tommy dearly during the recordings
At the very end of exile, one of the last shots, most exactly when Dream has to blow up Tommys stuff, he accidentally tripped with one of the props and ended up breaking a leg
The recording went straight to Twitter where people lost their shit over the scene, mostly because Dream tried to continue the scene with improv but Tommy lost his shit and they had to take the whole shot again after Dream got checked up
Technos execution was planned to happen really early in the season but Techno kept forgetting that he had to get on set so they had to move it slightly at the end, the end of exile and the execution hitting at the same time
The butcher army cast had the idea of the bloody aprons, Dream had this whole thing were they would have this really cool uniforms but they just went “nah, bloody aprons”
Ranboo was supposed to have one as well but he tried to use his character’s morals to get out of it, he succeeded, no bloody apron for Ranboo :)
The whole execution scene at Technos house was so funny to record, things without effects are extremely hilarious
Quackity kept messing up his lines, Tubbo kept falling and tripping when he had to run, Ranboo just didn’t knew what to do, Fundy kept blocking “hits” that he was supposed to take
Techno just wanted to be finished already, he was so tired 🥲
Moving on, the whole death scene where Techno uses the totem of undying was mostly made with editing, the anvil was a green square made out of foam, and the totem was just a green stick
Really funny without effects, really badass after editing
Moving on! Tommy living in a hole was literally not planned, Tommy was supposed to try and hide inside Technos room but he said fuck that and made the team make another entire set for something that would last tops a week 😐
Techno and Tommy had a blast doing the whole “Welcome Home Theseus”. The scene was taken perfectly the first shot because the both of them were so excited for that scene
Finally Tommy can leave the suffering makeup gang cuz his character is healthier now 😌✌️Techno is now taking his place suffering in makeup prep because of his scars and tusks
The day of the Festival was so important to the storyline so everyone was extremely nervous before recording, but it was okay, the whole episode came out really well
Tommy and Techno had to use green capes between the invisible shots and it was just hilarious for everyone on set
Tubbo accidentally forgot his speech and had to improvise in front of all the crew
Dream fell at least twice when he was “building” the walls around L’manberg again
Tubbo and Tommy kept laughing or apologizing to eachother while in the fighting scene
Tubbo accidentally slipped and the disc Mellohi accidentally broke when he was about to give it to Dream 😬
The whole Doomsday deal was something really really hard
A lot of what happened was made with editing so most of what happened on set was just green screens and sounds out of computers to let the actors know what was happening
Technos dogs were actually from a fan! This fan had this whole adoption establishment and decided to let the cast use em for the recording! They even got a tour :)
Technos and Tommy’s whole exchange during doomsday is supposed to be heartbreaking and sad to watch, but Techno and Tommy have such a good relationship that they just, kept laughing, Tommy kept making faces and Techno’s voice wasn’t genuine while saying his lines
Ghostbur’s exchange with Phil almost didnt happened because Wilbur kept refusing to spend five hours in makeup prep lmfao
The whole cast did sang the L’manberg anthem after it was blown up, even Dream and Techno. The clip of the cast just singing will forever stay in Twitter
The aftermath of doomsday was a good change of things, much more calm recording sessions for at least a few weeks
Snowchester was something that Tubbo came up with as pure improv, he liked the idea of some kind of retirement place so he decided to add it after doomsday
Ranboo moving in with Phil and Techno was complete improv as well from Phil’s and Techno’s part, Ranboo literally had no idea what was happening when Phil invited him to live with em
Ranboo literally got snatched lmao
Endgame or the final disk war was surely something
The prop team had to make bout four new sets in the matter of a week, the most hard one to make being the mountain one
Tommy and Tubbo knew that the whole episode would be hard to record but they were still extremely hyped just because they got to record together again as besties
Makeup time at the end was about eight hours, Tommy suffered a lot while Tubbo was just used to it at this point
THE WHOLE PRISON SCENE WHERE ALL THE SERVER GOES THROUGH THE PORTAL??? PAIN.
Everyone is lost, no one knows when to cross, people are missing armor, no one knows where the fuck George is, Punz keeps breaking his sword accidentally, everything is falling apart
Quackity wanted to play a prank on the cast by appearing shirtless in the super intense scene but everyone was so tired of recording that Quackity was actually shirtless in the final shot
Dream stayed in his obsidian box at least half an hour because Tommy kept messing up his lines
At the end of the season, where Dream is finally taken to prison Wilbur makes his appearance to Tubbos and Tommys surprise
Their reactions were genuine because only Dream and Wilbur knew that part of the script
Overall, the end of the season was amazing and the fandom went insane with it
Extra stuff <3
Nobody knows if Skeppy and Bad are actually dating or not, it is a mystery for everyone
Most of the pets used in set were borrowed from fans :)
The Drista saga are used as comedic relief or filler episodes, Drista being actually Dream’s lil sister who insisted in wanting to appear in the show as a god
Michael is actually Technos little brother who went to the set a couple of times cus Techno was babysitting him. He made his way into some of Ranboos and Tubbos shots, after that they decided to adopt him and make Michael canon just cus they liked the kid a lot
Dream decided to give Karl the chance to have a spin off of the show called Tales of the smp after realizing his talent at storytelling. Karl had the possibility to get new actors for the serie but he decided to use the same cast and just make them act differently, the fandom loved it
Wilbur and Tommy had this cool idea between them and after a while of writing and planning they decided to start their own show called the “Origins SMP” featuring some of their friends from other shows, not only the Dream smp
[thanks for reading lol, I think I got slightly carried away]

You know, sometimes I see the take "c!Dream is the villain of the server because he's hurt pretty much everyone!" and I'm just like. Are we watching the same SMP? Of course not, the only person you watch is Tommy or Tubbo.
What did c!Dream do to c!Fundy, who is pretty messed up at the moment? He fought against against him once... next?
As far as I know, most of c!Fundy's trauma stems from either c!Schlatt or c!Wilbur. In the end, he even agreed with Doomsday because L'Manberg hurt him. He gave so much for it and it did nothing for him.
What did c!Dream do to c!Niki? The people who hurt her were c!Wilbur and c!Schlatt, once again freaking L'Manberg caused her pain even though she did nothing wrong.
What did c!Dream do to c!Wilbur? He fought against him in the initial war, that's it. He didn't manipulate him or make his mental state worse. c!Wil's spiral was caused by "his own insolence, shortsighted naivete, and disregard for his fellow citizen whom he claimed to love so much", (quote from the "Hey and stuff" podcast by cc!Wilbur) and because he "had great power and who lost it all due to his own poor choices and negligence [and] sees destruction as his ratification" (quote from the alignment chart post, once again, by cc!Wilbur).
What did c!Dream do to c!Jack? That's right, c!Tommy hurt him.
What did c!Dream do to literally anyone in the Eggpire? He didn't even touch c!Bad, c!Skeppy or c!Ant other than the initial Eiffel war with c!Tommy, and that was a singular fight that didn't make anyone hurt or hold grudges in the long term.
c!Puffy and c!Sam heard of his actions and were shaken by it. He did virtually nothing to them.
c!Sam was hurt primarily by the Eggpire, and the responsibility and corruption of the prison, on top of his own hatred. c!Puffy was hurt by the Eggpire and seeing people around her hurt.
What did c!Dream do to c!Techno? What did he do to c!Phil? That's right! He saved Technoblade's life! L'Manberg hurt these two!
c!Ranboo and c!Foolish literally didn't even interact with him on screen yet! c!Ranboo's enderwalk state seems to have a positive relationship with him and c!Foolish got here after he got imprisoned!
What did c!Dream do to c!Ponk? He was hurt by c!Sam, actually! He was concerned for how Dream's doing because they were both tortured by him!
c!George and c!Sapnap? He only dethroned c!George because he was getting attacked and then said "I don't care about anything" when his attachment was being threatened. He's not a villain in their stories at all, he's a friend who turned into a tragedy.
What did he do to c!Punz? Punz just turned around because he got a better offer, and c!Dream even suggested they stage a fight so that Punz could be safe!
Just to make it fair, I tallied up all of the characters that have lore; and the results are, 23 characters that he HASN'T hurt or that he hasn't been an antagonist of their overall story; 3 characters he has genuinely messed up (Tommy, Tubbo, Mex. Dream) and 3 characters that his actions very negatively affected (Eret, Quackity, Ghostbur).
And yeah you could argue "well he did x bad thing to their friends-" I'm not talking about him hurting people, I'm talking about a position when he literally is being the antagonist (or one of them) of their story because he badly impacts their life on a larger scale.
Do your research before generalizing. "He's a villain in everyone's stories, he's hurt everyone, he's the source of everyone's pro-" Just tell me you listen to everything your favorite unreliable narrator says and go, for prime's sake.
The point of the actual story is that they all hurt each other. Hell, even c!Dream has been hurt, first by the environment as a whole and recently by c!Quackity and c!Sam.
No single character is making everyone's life hell, it's the server as a whole and the cycle of violence they've created, and it doesn't stop when people get hurt more or even die.
If you want to make good analysis, learn to understand anything more nuanced than a classic hero-villain storyline, I beg.

genshin men with a theater actor s/o (pt.1?)
summaries : headcannons and short writing of genshin characters with their theater actor s/o and how would they behave around them as an actor
characters included : kaeya, diluc, (seperate) x (few fem and Gender neutral)! Actor!Reader. ((Different scenario for each character))
contains : pure fluff, dramatic and corny lines, implementation of a theatre musical play, slight comfort/hurt, actors AU, implied death (in the musical play).
A/N : THE COMBINATION OF ANGST AND COMFORT/HURT AND PURE FLUFF HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE BESTT!! So here we go, theater AU hehe, i’ve been waiting since a long time to actually write this, hope y’all like it!!
DILUC
whenever there’s a musical play and you’re the main character or the character involved in the story. He’ll always be on his guard to help you. He’ll be the one to fill the other characters role and would memorize the script all and whole, so you would be more comfortable practicing with him before the stage-play announcement came.
a proud husband. actually, once, when you were playing as the dead love interest, he cries. The audience even heard him sniffing when he saw you in the stageplay acting dead in the main characters arm. you could heard him sniffing from the corner of the theater and it made your ‘unconscious’ look more realistic.
“hey…you wouldn’t die like that in my arm won’t you love..?” , when you saw his puffy cheeks, you were concerned, like really concerned. ‘Why does this man cry over a stageplay?’ His usual heavy tone cracks, it made you burst into a laughter because he look more sentimental here than the other day when you both were having a small-rehearsal with him.
and once, when you both were playing as the antagonist and diluc was the main protagonist ; who would die because of their sacrifice, in a private reherseal between both of you. He’ll probably be more focus towards your emotion instead of his own lines. You were a talented actor, a really talented one in fact, seeing you act has always been his comfort. knowing how much you’ve enjoyed this career you chose makes him so happy,
Thousand of kisses would come at your figure when you finished your stageplay. The bouquet of flowers he bought always fill the space of your dressing room, either if it was a congratulation-bouquet or just a simple appreciation bouquet of flowers from him. He just simply adores you and your career, he always be there to support you even when it was the last day of your acting career. He loves you nonetheless.
“you’ve always have astonished my expectation milady..” , teasing you with the infamous main character line, he kisses your cheeks as a form of ‘well done’.
KAEYA
as both actors and partner in life, kaeya and you has always been the main attention in every stageplay you both joined. If you could be honest, being with kaeya in every stageplay you involved yourself with, has always been the best thing that have ever happened to you. He might be a big tease and bother when it came to rehearsal, but having to share the same interest with your love ones has always been the best memory to brag along.
everyone in the theater known you both as the ‘rulers’. You’ve always been kaeya’s partner all along, either when you got to be the main antagonist or the main love interest. Or maybe, there’s sometimes when you both just hang around as the background characters who died after a total of 5 scenes, and ended up as the most important character. Kaeya actually enjoys it, and so do you. he doesn’t like to be the main character, he wants to be those who could give others the clue to the end. Main characters are dumb, that’s what he though
He always have pepper you with kisses every single time you played with him, Kaeya knew you did your best and always have been, so as a token of his appreciation he might give you a sudden kiss on the stage even if it meant for you both to be the center of public attention, he still kiss you in his deepest affection.
“Darling? didn’t you get the love interest character again?”
“actually yeah…but i’m going to die at the end anyways, so uh..would you mind not to teased me when i’m pretending to be unconscious..?”
“obviously nope!” , and as you might guess, the rehearsal would be full of kaeya’s little teasing show. Though at the end of the day, you both still managed to clear out all of the teasing days and make the show into a sucessful play. Well yes, he might be more sentimental than the day of your play because he might make his emotions ran wild everytime you both were on stage. He wants to show the best of him, for you. Especially when you were supposed to die at the end of the story, he’ll probably cry. Like real tears were already in the edge of his eyes. Even the audience questioned his tears and numb eyes, and even you look more like a dead body instead of an actor in an act.
Kaeya knew what you were capable of, so when he saw you in an act, he would let everything ran down to him as if what you were doing is real on his mind. Though as soon as he went home with you, the exhausted him would murmur every each of his thoughts when you were acting.
“Darling, your acting are too realistic you know that? It scared me when i saw you in that position, i though you were actually dying…” , it’s his only thoughts he could murmur to you before he fall asleep onto your shoulder. Such a beautiful sight to be remembered.

Hey! This is a bizarre ask but hopefully a welcome one after *gestures at the destruction and fire*. I’m completely new to the Loki/thorki fandom, having essentially come in via the exit door by watching the Loki tv series first. I was honestly just watching it for junk value to have something in the background while I knit. However, when I realized that I didn’t understand anything by the middle of Ep. 1, I went back to watch Thor 1 so I could get what was going on. And HOLY SHIT I was utterly captivated by Loki’s character in the original movie, as well as by the Loki-Thor and Odin family dynamics. I’ve now watched through the films and have been increasingly disappointed by the portrayal of Loki (since Avengers 1 frankly) save a few glimmers of good characterization here and there.
I can’t believe that I’m getting myself into another queer coded (and now more than coded wtf) “villain” with a tragic backstory who’s done dirty by the fandom at large, but here we are! I’m also super into thorki because goddamn… they sure do have a Dynamic™.
So I guess my question is, what is actually good here? I feel like I’ve been trying to fight my way back to Kenneth Branagh!Loki, and have been largely unsuccessful within canon content. Do you have suggestions for a newcomer re: fics, fanart, and meta that actually treats Loki seriously? (and thorki as well?)
Hey! Welcome! Sorry about the mess *gestures at the garbage fire that is the TVA Show The Larry Show The "Loki" Show*
And this isn't a bizarre ask at all. It was really nice to receive actually! And yeah! I'm so glad you went back and watched the originals. The TV Show character is a completely new character played by the same actor who has nothing in common with the original character (who yes is absolutely fascinating and captivating and multilayered). Honestly I just think of the tv character as Larry, Loki's dumb lookalike cousin bc they have nothing in common lol. So glad the show led to you discovering good content...and thorki. And yeah Thor 2011 is amazing! It's so underrated. If you want meta relating to that and also just gushing about the film you can def check out my Thor 2011 tag.
My thorki tag of course has thorki stuff including art etc. I've also got an art tag which has both thorki and non-thorki works. If you want fic recs you can look in my fic rec tag which has a bunch of good stuff both thorki and gen.
Also here are some good thorki fics to start out with that I've really enjoyed. Most are ones I read early on when I just discovered the ship. Also @illwynd has a great thorki blog btw that you should def check out (and also their sideblog @throwbackthorki). Edit: I’ve also added some gen fic recs.
Thorki Fic Recs:
Chaos War by astolat (words: 34,203 | rating: E)
It was never easy to find Loki when he wanted to hide, but he wasn't doing a particularly good job of it at the moment. Probably he didn't think anyone from Asgard would be wasting their time hunting for him while the shining ones churned their way steadily through all the realm.
Loyalty at Any Price by seidrade (words: 22,663 | rating: E )
“This whole time, I’ve been searching the Nine Realms— alone— for answers to questions I barely know how to ask. I thought Heimdall at his watch, our father upon the throne, and most grievously… I thought you lost to me forever.” Thor’s resurgence of anger gives way to something like despair. He can’t tell whether he wants to pummel Loki into one giant bruise, or hold him and weep like a child.
When Thor returns to Asgard and exposes Loki’s deception, his demands for answers and Loki’s reluctance to give them soon bubble over into a cathartic confrontation.
Born to be Kings by Kadorienne (words: 66,618 | rating: T)
When the princes of Asgard made their ill-fated jaunt to Jotunheim, Odin arrived to fetch them before the frost giant grabbed Loki's arm. Odin was able to carry out his plan to make Loki his puppet king of Jotunheim. But how long will Loki remain an obedient puppet?
Yidrigar by epistolic (words: 5,174 | rating: M)
Sometimes I am envious, but never doubt that I love you.
The Heavy Crown by orphan_account (words: 10,024 | Rating: M )
Odin is dead. Loki must take up the mantle of King even as war threatens Asgard, Thor remains bereft of both Mjolnir and his immortality, and stress coupled with the knowledge of his heritage drives Loki to the brink.
No Common Thing by ravenbringslight (words: 8,283 | rating: E)
Loki follows Thor to a brothel and gets the shock of his life.
On the Eagle's Wings by illwynd (words: 2,975 | rating: T )
After Loki falls from the Bifrost, Thor begins to write him letters every day.
How long we were fooled by Ark (words: 28,227 | rating: E )
Loki is not a good man, he knows; there is something rotten in the core of him; and even a much better man might let Thor kiss him, since Thor still tastes of sizzling lightning, like gathering rain, like a desire so fierce and so awful to him that when released it could bring Asgard to its knees.
sunshine by thorvaenn (words: 18,257 | rating: E )
A post Infinity War fluffy piece.
Thor and Loki are among those who are trying to pick up the pieces, but must first fix each other.
Edit: And Some Gen Fic Recs too:
lose my idols to find my voice by Lise (words: 1,548 | rating: T)
This is no homecoming.
monstrare by Lise (words: 1,174 | T )
Loki is Asgard's second prince, brother to Thor, son of Odin and Frigga.
Isn't he?
farewell hope, and with hope farewell fear by Lise (words: 3,113 | rating: T)
Loki and the terrible, horrible, no good, very long delayed reckoning.
Five Times Loki Could Have Been A Villain by Kadorienne (words: 3,344 | rating: G | Character Death)
Five AUs where Loki is not a mere antagonist, but an actual villain.
He would have acted very differently.
When It Sings, When It Lies by dreamsthebirds (words: 14,145 | rating: G)
Thor AU, based on an awesome norsekink prompt for a scenario in which Heimdall doesn't open the Bifrost to Jotunheim, Odin doesn't ride to the rescue, and Loki is forced to take matters into his own hands.
Interdimensional journeys, shattering emotional revelations, and walking trees ensue.
Ichor in Violet by tirsynni (Words: 14,574 | rating: T)
When Thor learns that Loki can travel to other realms without Heimdall seeing, of course he convinces Loki to take them both to Jotunheim to hunt Frost Giants. There an accident unravels centuries of lies and threatens to unravel Loki, too.
The Sinking Feeling of Anticipation by JaggedCliffs (words: 8,624 | rating: G)
When Æsir come of age, they receive a gift from their parents, one meant to aid them in their adult lives. When a prince of Asgard comes of age, their gifts are not just for themselves, but for the realm.
Loki watched Thor receive Mjolnir at his coming of age ceremony – one of the greatest weapons in the realms, for one of its greatest warriors. Now, it's Loki's turn, and he knows Odin will grant him something just as magnificent.
Won't he?
Exsanguination by Lise (words: 8,610 | rating: G)
exsanguination /ex·san·gui·na·tion/ v.intr. To be drained of blood. (And all the rest.)

Today I'm really pleased to interview Tony Leung Chiu-Wai. The last time I really chatted with you in earnest was... Do you remember? In 2013.
I think that time I was with...
We were on a plane together.
At the mall? On a plane?
We arrived in Hong Kong, and went to some awards ceremony. We were waiting for our luggage, exchanged a few words. That was 2013, and we haven’t met since. Where did we meet up next? I’m sure you won’t remember. It was here in Hong Kong. I was surprised by you. I usually go to the supermarket, very early in the morning. Because there's no-one there.
Yeah.
I saw you there.
I think that was probably it. Not too crowded in the morning.
You too. Why so early in the morning?
To... buy food. I usually wake up at 6am. I’d exercise until about 10am-ish, and then I’d…
Go for a walk.
Shower, then shop for food. I usually eat quite simply— it’s either salad, or buckwheat noodles. Salad doesn't stay fresh very well. So I’d get up early in the morning, shop for what I like, and prepare it at home.
Have you been eating healthy all this time?
I’m not doing this particularly for my health. I get an upset stomach easily. I get food poisoning very easily. And it’s miserable having food poisoning! When you’re at work, others don’t know how bad you’re having it. But you can’t tell-- you can’t convey that.
Alright, at this point it’s time for a nostalgia trip. We used to be colleagues, and we’ve shot TV series together. At that time, did you feel that you could eat whenever and not have to sleep… When did you start prioritising your health?
When did it start? I think it would have been… at least 20 years ago. Because it’s miserable being sick while on set. You’ve got to keep working. Even when I had a fever, (producer) Wong Kar-Wai would say, “No, it’s the last day, you’ve got to make it.” So I would work with a fever!
It’s good that everyone's health-conscious now, and wants to avoid falling ill. So when I was preparing for this interview, some friends told me, They’d seen you and me do an interview, from many years ago. I don’t think you’d remember. We’re talking many years ago - decades here! You were really young at the time. At the TV station you were a rising star, a top male lead actor. So I interviewed you. I asked you a question, and I don’t know if you remember how you answered. I asked, “Have you thought about retirement?” You did give me an answer at the time. Do you remember at what age you said you’d retire?
I really don’t remember. I’m sure retirement was always on my mind then.
You were in your 20s then, not quite 30. You told me— “I will definitely retire at 36!”
[laughter]
What changed your mind?
I believe that when I started out as an actor, it was certainly hard work when I was just starting out. But I thought, I wouldn’t get to where I am today without going through tough times. But as I slowly grew as a person, my perspectives and values have changed. I feel more at ease. So I wouldn’t think in extremes like I did before. I think that in the past 10, 20… 10 years? I've become a more relaxed person. I wouldn’t just say, “now I’ll retire.” If I want to keep going, I will.
This is your favourite line of work, isn’t it?
Except sport.
Could you imagine yourself in any other career? I can’t.
I’d be a sportsperson.
A sportsperson, playing what?
I play a lot of sports. I like mountain biking, sailing, water skiing, surfing… I’m up for anything.
You really like water sports, don’t you?
It’s hot in Hong Kong, and summer takes up most of the year. What’s more refreshing than being in the water?
How about in winter?
I’d still be in the water, wearing long sleeves.
You wouldn’t take up running?
I don’t particularly like it… I can’t seem to find much variety in running. I like to interact with nature directly. There’s something new every day. Take sailing, for example. Every day is different, the weather changes.
Your body is in a different condition every day.
You're working with the changing conditions. You end up building up a lot of knowledge. You learn about nature, the weather, changes in conditions. The water, currents, what do you call it... Hot weather warms the ocean and you’ll have gusts of wind. I didn’t know all this. But the more I sailed, the more I thought,“This is great!”
You’ve got a real passion for this.
I do.
What have you been up to during the pandemic? It’s been 1— almost 2 years, hasn't it?
I was filming in 2 movies… And... flying here and there.
Do you need to quarantine?
Quarantine! Countless times.
We’ve talked for so long, let’s come back to this film, Shang-Chi. I believe Tony has received endless invitations to appear in overseas films. Why did you choose this film?
I didn't really... I believe it’s fate to be involved in certain films. I can’t just want to act in some type of film, then get it. An opportunity comes up, but sometimes the director might not like me, or I might not like the screenplay. Or I might like the director, but I don’t like the character. So you can’t just make this sort of thing happen. I think sometimes the time will be just right and things will happen. The director may like me, and I like the project, or I like the director. Or I might want to try something in particular. It takes a lot, a combination of factors, for something to happen.
It's like a piece of furniture, isn't it? The pieces need to be joined precisely.
Yes.
How were you scouted for this movie? How were you approached?
The director approached me, wanted to have a chat with me. So I...
What's your requirements for taking on a film? Do you need to read through the whole screenplay?
That would be best. It would.
You would've been in many films without a solid screenplay, wouldn't you?
There would still be an idea.
An overview of sorts.
But this movie... You know Marvel is very secretive. At the beginning, I was in a video conference call with the director. What he could tell me at the time was, "You're going to be the main villain. Your character has many layers." Then I asked, "do I need to fight?" "No, because you have those rings." So I said, "then I'll definitely be fine." That was all.
What about that drew you in? Being the main villain?
That was one of the draws. In the past few years, I wanted to try characters different to those I'd played previously.
Why do all actors who have played male leads want to go off and play villains?
Actually... there's more complexity to them. I feel like there's a different mindset between playing a protagonist and an antagonist. I've acted for 30-something years. It's about time I did something different.
So you're in, you're headed to the shoot, and you're now the main villain! What's the mindset behind this?
Oh, not for this film. I thought I was the villain at first. A month before the shoot, I read the script. I didn't think this character was a villain at all. There was a real human side to this villain. Perhaps Marvel was hoping to portray a villain from a different angle this time around. So I was puzzled. Initially I was expecting, "Ooh, a villain, this will be fun", but when I looked at the script, "no, this isn't a villain at all!"
Very sentimental?
Yes, and a lot of humanity.
You thought it would be easy playing a villain.
I didn't think it would be easy.
You didn't think there would be so much emotion.
I didn't think it would be easy. I thought there would be more evil in him. I read the script and thought, "oh no, he's not evil at all", And that's difficult to portray. How would you let the audience... and I thought, "wow it's as if he's a good guy?" I read through the script and couldn't find the evil in this character.
How would you portray this character? Was the director able to help you?
The director...
Or did he put a lot of trust in you?
I rarely... He put a lot of trust in me, and I don't discuss with the director often. I thought, what's the use of discussing? I could just act it out. You can be really idealistic when you discuss. I would rather do more... When I arrived, Destin would ask me, "Do you want to talk it out?" and I would say no.
Was there a read-through?
No, no read-through.
You went straight to shooting?
Yes, straight to the shoot.
Then it would be like, "Tony, stand here, in this shot do this and that, and you'd do it?
Yeah. It was kind of like that. We filmed the action scenes first. So there was time to warm up. Then the dramatic parts. I like the drama most. I felt the most excited during these parts. The action scenes were particularly tough, because it was summer in Australia then.
Did you need to train?
I did. At first I was told I didn't need to fight. Then when I got there— wow, there's so many action scenes! So I scrambled and...
But you've got those rings. You can just throw the rings.
Sure, but there's still some action involved. Because I didn't physically prepare beforehand, it was rather tough at first. I got used to it as the shoot went on, but the weather was still hot. And there were period costumes, so it was tough at first.
So there was a sequence, they filmed all the action scenes first, and then scenes with dialogue afterwards, is that right?
I think they deliberately scheduled this so I could warm up a little. So I wouldn't need to dive straight into very intense dialogue.
There are a lot of actors involved, right? Your character has a son, too. Is this the first time you're portraying a dad?
Would it be my first time...
Or you have, but not for a much older son?
Yes, not for a much older son. I had a child in “The Grandmaster” as well. But not that old, no.
How would you portray the emotions of a father-son relationship? Because your character didn't know his son.
It was manageable. In this movie, the father-- not that he didn't love his children. He didn't know how to love them. This character doesn't even know how to love himself. The love was from his wife, portrayed by Fala Chen, He found love in this woman. But he doesn't know how to love others. So he was very distant from his children, his sons— his daughters were pretty much ignored. He was a father figure who preferred sons over daughters, a rather... traditional father archetype. Almost the old-fashioned type.
In shooting this movie, what was most difficult for you?
The action scenes.
Do you do all these scenes yourself?
I try to, but they wouldn't let us do the really dangerous ones. If you're injured, who's going to replace you?
Sure.
But I try to do as much as I'm able.
You'd need to rehearse the scenes with everyone.
Of course. Once we arrived, they arranged for Fala, my son, played by Simu, and my daughter... like you and I used to, we would all practice in the studio.
How long were the working hours?
It was 10 working hours a day, but we went all the way through that. There was no break in between.
Really? I thought you would be sitting comfortably in your trailer?
No! We filmed a lot every day! You know how that made me felt? It felt like I was in my TV days again.
Really?
You'll think, "will we get through this much filming today?" And by the end of the day, you would. But it was very intense. Perhaps they didn't want us to have a break, because we'd have to disperse and regroup. So we went all the way through. Once we arrived in the studio, it was full steam ahead. There was no meal break, because there was always...
No meal break?
No.
I've never heard of a Hollywood film shoot without meal breaks.
There's food throughout the day. Catering comes around, and we'd just eat.
But there wouldn't be an hour for a meal break.
No.
How long was shooting in total?
I was involved for about... 4 months.
Was that long or short timeframe, in your experience?
I felt like it was short, because they were very efficient and organised. They planned it really well. So every you'd head in and whoosh,
It flowed well.
Yes, very professional.
In your opinion, are there particular scenes you're in that the audience should pay attention to?
I think... I wouldn't say particular scenes, but the film as a whole. I don't think you've all seen me in this get-up before.
We could tell from the promos.
Very different to what I've played before.
Did you stay in one place for four months, or did you have to fly around?
We were only in Sydney, because we were in a studio. It was all green screen. There were a lot of special effects, so we only had to construct part of a set, And the rest was green screen, so it was mostly shot in the studio. Only the opening and ending were elsewhere, in a park, and in a village on a set they'd constructed. So I was there for... I was in Sydney the whole time. But because of the pandemic, I left for a few months in the middle, and returned when were were able to shoot again.
How did you feel about your experiences after the shoot? It's a Marvel movie, very different from the dramas and other films you've been in. How would you sum up your experiences?
Very stressed, very frustrated.
Really?
Because I'm the type of person who stays in their comfort zone. I filmed with familiar directors, and familiar crew.
You've really leapt out of your zone there.
I really stepped out of this comfort zone, working with strangers. The only person I could trust in was the director. I didn't know anyone else there. And when I got a copy of the screenplay, like I mentioned, I realised, "Wow, a villain that doesn't feel like a villain, what do I do?" I'd only received the script a month before the shoot. And when I got there, I had to work with the dialect coaches on delivery. I was filming, I was thinking... it was stressful. But we got through in the end.
Where were the costumes done?
In Tokyo. I was there at the time, and our costume designer kindly flew over to dress and fit me. At the time I didn't know what was in the script, I didn't know the story. But the costumes helped me a lot at the time. The movie's costumes were made beautifully. I thought they had good design sense. So when I was dressed for the first time, I was able to feel...
That you were the character.
Yes, roughly. I had an initial feeling for it. And then I would turn up in person, and get a better feel as I played the character.
So the shoot is over, it's about to be released. What plans do you have next, Tony?
Well when I came back to Hong Kong, I took part in a local film. Then I might shoot one in Shanghai, and then a TV series in Vancouver.
So you've done a complete turn-around since I last interviewed you. You were thinking of retiring at 36, do you not plan to retire now?
Not that I haven't thought about it... I'll stop when I feel tired. Then I'll go back to playing sports. If I feel like I've taken too long a break, and go "no, I need to do something," and there's something I'm really interested in, I'll do it. I don't need to come to a complete stop. It's something I like, after all.
So when you film in future, you wouldn't be thinking, "oh, I've been in a Hollywood production, "I will only appear in productions at that tier.” You'll be happy with a good screenplay.
Yes.
You might be asked to shoot drama films again. You would still take that on?
Well, I haven't given myself...
You've already left your comfort zone.
Yes, but I haven't really limited myself to what I think I should film. If there's a good film, I'll shoot in it. If there's something I like, I'll do it.
Well Tony, surely a typical day in Hong Kong for you wouldn't be on the water all day. What's a typical day like for you without shoots?
Well I'd get up, and there would be at least 2 hours of exercise.
Every day?
Yes.
Monday through Sunday?
Maybe one, half day's rest. You've got to let your body recover.
How about when you're shooting in Hollywood?
Not during filming, I'd save up my energy for that. Shooting takes 10 hours a day, but hair and makeup could take 2 hours. That's 12 hours, and it was tiring.
That's true.
I needed the energy for filming. But in Hong Kong, without a shoot, I'd have 2 hours exercise in the morning, make lunch, I might do some sports, like sailing, or water skiing. I'll come home, maybe watch a movie, or read a book. That's it. Maybe I'll have dinner.
I wouldn't exactly call that exciting. [Laughter]
It's pretty exciting!
For you, at least.
If the weather's good and I spend the day out sailing, I'd feel really happy about that. But not every day's a good day. I might capsize, and it would feel wrong. But it's not all that bad.
Why don't you enter competitions?
I have entered competitions.
Have you placed in these competitions?
Well... I have placed before.
What did you place?
I think second.
Oh, that's quite good. If you competed in the Olympics in sailing, there's no age limit there right?
Yes, there's no limit. But you don't necessarily have to compete in the Olympics. I could...
But we would all be happier for it, Tony. Imagine, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai representing Hong Kong and winning a medal! You've seen how happy the medalists have been this year.
It's really hard! It's really hard!
Why is that?
You're not as fit as younger people. It's hard. I play sports purely for enjoyment. I feel like it's an experience.
Fair enough.
It's... I'm not the type to want first place or something.
You're not a competitive person.
Yes. I don't want to experience a sport in that way. I'm there for my own enjoyment, not to win.
Let's say in future... since I last saw you in 2013— that wasn't even an interview, and now I've met you after all this time. Let's say in 5 years. What would you be doing in 5 years' time?
Maybe I...
Back then you said you'd retire at 36. I'll ask you again now, let's not dredge up the past. What do you think you'd be doing?
In 5 years' time, I think I would have more time for sports. [laughter]
Still on the water?
Yeah. Well, not necessarily, but a lot of different sports. I do want to try some—
Try running! I've seen Kar Ling (Carina Lau) run before!
Yes, she likes running, and hiking too.
Why don't you run with her?
I don't really like running.
Hiking?
Hiking, I'd rather... well when I'm skiing, I'd walk in the back country, in good weather, carrying my skis and wearing my cleats, it's the same thing. I'd hike up and ski down. But not that kind of hiking. Well sometimes... when in summer, in Hokkaido, I can't ski. I would still hike, but I wouldn't really like it. But it would be better with friends.
But you don't like being around too many people.
I sometimes like being with family. But my family... not everyone can hike. One might cramp up halfway.
Since you like being on the water so much, how many people does it take to do that?
One.
Just you?
Yeah.
Just someone to steer the boat.
Uhh... yeah.
It doesn't matter if there's a boat?
I do a lot of different water sports. I have those... electric boards, the type that shoot up like a magic carpet on the water, I have a stand up paddleboard, I can surf by myself too, that's doable. A lot of the sports I do can be done solo. I don't need a lot of people around.
You've really changed from before. You used to like to... go out at night?
Yeah.
That's all gone?
It has for a while. I haven't been in the nightlife for 20, 30 years. I'd eat out for dinner at most. Then I'd go straight home.
I remember I used to shoot TV dramas with you, you surprised me— We've filmed one or two series together, I would go straight home to bed afterwards, because I've always been a morning person. You could still say, "I'm going to go out for a bit." Yet the next day — our call sheets had us in very early — you were still able to make it in on time. Back then…it was a rite of passage.
Because I was young. Yes, and it was life experience. There are things you should do at that age.
Sure. Well, I hope to see you in another production soon. If this series were really successful, would you continue in any sequels?
[laughter] I really don't know, I can't say.
Why's that?
I feel like... as I've mentioned, there's fate involved in shooting a particular film. We'll see where...
…where fate takes you.
...where fate takes me.
Thank you Tony Leung Chiu-Wai for being with us today.
You're welcome.

I finished Young Royals ! Really liked it overall. Thoughts :
- they had a "must look like Isak Valtersen" line on the prince Wilhelm casting call didn't they
- obviously Simon, socialist sweetheart, is my fave. but yeah they did a good job with Willie too, the whole royalty thing is very over the top but by portraying his anxiety and the feeling of claustrophobia at having all these responsibilities thrust onto him actually made him weirdly relatable.
- the romance was just super sweet and adorable! Realistic teenagers with all the acne and bumbling awkwardness and spontaneity, very nice to see. Enough tenderness to make it feel real but not exploitative. I liked how they actually talked to each other about stuff that was bothering them. Plus you can tell they just really want to be close and spend time together and are delighted by the other's presence, which is the baseline of a good couple that sadly too many don't even reach (esp queer ones, sigh). Great chemistry, zero subtlety. It honestly surprised me how fast they moved but it makes sense since the focus of the story is more on how this intersects with Willie's royal status + their class differences rather than stuff like overcoming (internalized) homophobia etc. Which is great and very refreshing. The way they're drawn to each other makes perfect sense - Willie seeing Simon as the only real person around him, with his heartfelt singing and strong opinions, and Simon seems amazed that someone is finally noticing him and helping him and caring about him - and yet it feels like they've only touched the surface of what those two could be to each other so like. Lots of potential.
- man the way Simon's friends must have roasted him after he like casually brought over the fucking prince with an obvious crush situation going on jfjfjfjf I feel like they didn't get enough comedy value out of that
- liked the focus on class differences and the glance at insane rich kid behavior with the whole ridiculous secret society shit and bragging about how amazingly privileged they are and how they could get away with murder. It felt appropriately nasty even if I'm sure the reality is worse. August was a great antagonist, in that his motivations make sense, and sure the pressure he is under and the death of his father sucks, and you have a feeling he could be a better person, but his actions and choices are still utterly loathsome because he's so afraid of losing his status. Great portrayal of what entitlement does to a person.
- Felice is a great character and her and her gang embracing Sara into their group was so sweet. I loved that she stood up to her mom by giving the Lucia thing to Sara. I thought we would get a storyline of Willie leading her on to show his straightness but I'm glad we didn't.
- Speaking of Sara she's sweet and an interesting character but wtf at her choices at the end there, that was Not It
- the ending was frustrating because it doesn't feel like a proper resolution - it's obvious that they want a s2 and they better get it - but in hindsight I like it. I like Simon standing up for himself. I was rooting for Willie to pull a big romcom move and kiss Simon in front of everyone but that wouldn't have been realistic. Because if/when he comes out, the repercussions will be massive, he knows that. The obstacles are real and they can't be hand waved away by the Power of Love, which gives more weight to the whole thing. So I like that we leave him in that uncertain place where he's starting to realize that the monarchy is really fucked up and that he loves Simon and wants to fight for him and that there's a "revolution" coming (the music does a lot there) he just doesn't know how yet. It will be really interesting to see how they move from there.
- I did not like the adhd medication plotline!!!! At all ! 95% of times when adhd is adressed in the media it's about meds being abused. It's like writers think this is the only story worth telling about adhd and I'm really tired of it. It honestly feels trivializing and exploitative for the sake of drama, but of course even on these shows that pride themselves on having good rep in other areas there is still zero awareness of this. At least they had actual neuroatypical characters, even though neither of them really gave me big relatable/recognizable adhd vibes. And they made it clear that it's not a diagnosis you can get on a whim and that it impacted Sara's life in big ways (although not sure that would have been there if they didn't make her autistic as well). So they're not the worst offenders but it still made me grit my teeth.
- I bet at least one of their writers has read a Royalty AU fanfic because this just feels straight up like that
- maybe not quite a fave, the music choices are a bit try-hard sometimes, it definitely doesn't have skam's naturalistic coolness (I'm pretty sure there was a Netflix Sweden executive with "let's make another skam" somewhere in his notes), but yeah I was surprised by how much I liked it actually and really looking forward to s2

I really love how you draw Dottore! he's my favorite character in genshin- do you have any hcs/ideas for how he interacts with the other harbingers? I find other people's readings of him really interesting!
take care, have a good day whenever you read this!
Aaa!! Thank you!! <3 :D And yes I absolutely have hcs about him and the other harbingers!!
(I'm gonna toss them under a cut because I have a tendency to ramble on and use a whole lotta Words-)
Alright, so Signora and Dottore:
Extraordinarily chaotic and evil sibling dynamic
They gossip, like, A Lot, it's mainly Signora talking while Dottore fidgets and works with whatever he's working on, but he gets invested in it pretty easily
Now they also can and will rat each other out when they want, absolute snitches the both of them, they find immense joy in it, however. They also know a decent number of each other's secrets and they aren't going to tell those unless given a proper bribe (which neither have received just yet)
Signora and Dottore also both do Not like Childe
They have bonded over this
Childe is gaslight girlboss gatekept from everything when Signora and Dottore are involved
Also, Signora usually isn't phased by whatever Dottore keeps in his labs, because, yk, she might be 500+ years old, which Dottore appreciates because usually people are constantly on edge in his labs
It's a pain for him to actually keep staff (alive and employed), but having another Harbinger there (even one with a reputation like Signora's) grants the people working for him an, admittedly false, sense of security. Nothing could go bad when two Harbingers are here, right?
So Actually many many things can go wrong with these two in a room with Dottore's experiments
Like don't trust them around fire? Ever? Signora knows her way around it a little bit too well to be safe, and Dottore just likes watching how things burn under different conditions soo a recipe for Arson, that's what that is
Signora also thinks Dottore is hilarious when he's angry, and Dottore just likes being antagonistic, which leads to a whole lotta bickering. It's usually lighthearted but it can get serious and it can get serious fast
But overall Dottore just sorta sees her as an older sibling-ish person? He knows if he lets something slip she's not going to go straight to the other Harbingers to gossip. Which he likes because he can just go off and rant about how stupid something is and she'll just use it as blackmail material, which he thinks is better than like. Having everyone know how much he hates a certain piece of old machinery or something-
However, he doesn't trust her too much, because?? Who in the Harbingers actually trusts each other???
Also he and Signora have Transmasc/Transfem solidarity I will not be elaborating
Dottore and Childe on the other hand:
Pure hatred from Childe's side, he straight-up despises Dottore.
After all, this is a guy whose family is one of the most important things to him, his siblings are children, children who do not know the weight of the world just yet.
And Dottore is the guy who is... well. He's known to treat kids like nothing but a base to experiment on
Now Dottore on the other hand literally just wants to dissect Childe, he's gone absolutely crazy trying to get permission to at least run tests.
I mean, What else was he going to do when the kid Pulcinella found on the side of the road started turning into an entire 10ft abyss creature??? That's part of his whole line of work!! This is literally something he studies!!!
Needless to say, he was not allowed to study Childe's Foul Legacy in any regard and it ticked him off
So yeah, just overall they Hate each other, they argue a lot, like, if the Tsarita wasn't there at meetings they would turn into fistfights
However, they both drink whatever the Genshin equivalent of Monster is
This is not a bonding point, they fight over flavors
Sounds like a dumb thing to fight over but Dottore can't stand Childe's and Childe can't stand Dottore's
This has lead to other Harbingers swapping their flavors around because they think it's entertaining to watch them fight
It actually got to the point where the Tsaritsa herself had to order them to stop switching the flavors around because Dottore and Childe are already prepped to murder each other at any moment, they don't need to make it worse
So Dottore just reserves himself to snapping at Childe with the annoyance of someone who is being blocked from something that could very easily be a big break that's being dangled over his head
For real though, Childe has so much potential for Dottore's experiments but Dottore isn't allowed to do so much as study what effect that the transformation has on Childe afterward, and he hates it
But he can't lose his funding from the Tsaritsa so he stays quiet and angrily compiles whatever information he can
Anyway, Dottore and Scaramouche:
Overall neutral actually?
Like they don't see each other much, with Dottore usually knee and elbow deep in some messed up science stuff, and Scara's work taking him out and about a lot of the time
They bicker and stuff, but overall?? They kinda just avoid talking to each other?
Sometimes, rarely, they do get put on a mission with each other, but when they happens they usually get along pretty well!
They actually have a good time snooping around places, what with Dottore's practically uncontrollable curiosity being easily triggered if there's... oh idk, dragon bones, or old machines, or abyss-related ruins, or anything in the typical Vindagyeran Architecture Style, and Scaramouche just likes to snoop and sneak around for fun, for funsies
There's been a few times when the both of them have bonded over chaotically messing something up (didn't impact them, but sure did impact whoever was living in those houses) and laughed over it, grabbed some drinks, and just hung out
They're sorta like buddies who don't see each other much so they're overall estranged but still have a good time, yk?
Scaramouche has hung out in Dottore's labs before, doesn't particularly enjoy them, what with all the machinery and people crying and whatever, thinks it's boring, but if he has to hang out there he'll find his way to Dottore's office and read his files
This gets on Dottore's nerves, but he knows a little better than to cross the minor god that is Scaramouche
And he would very much like to study Scaramouche, considering, yk, divinity abandoned by the divine?
What an odd predicament!!
What effects would that have!!
How does he still have any power!!!
The questions Dottore could have are endless!!
But Scaramouche is away enough to be sure that Dottore's interest is solidly in other things (mainly Abyssal, and Dragons, because there's always some Fatui around the dragon skeletons (Durin and Orobashi) and I have a feeling it's Dottore's doing)
And that's it so far I think? They'll probably change as more Harbingers/info on the ones we have already come out and such but that's what I have rn!! Just Dottore being a funny feral little angry science man with at least three sensible braincells, and yk what I love him for it :)
